The new SmartThings Tracker will help you find your stuff.
What makes it different from other tracking devices is that it doesn't rely
only on Bluetooth.
It uses Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and LTE-M which allows it to track
items indoors and outdoors while conserving battery life, but before we dig in, let's
talk requirements.
First of all, you need to buy the device which sells for $99.
The initial fee includes a year of service, and once that expires, you'll pay $5 per month
or $50 annually.
The service is currently provided by AT&T with Verizon launching later this year, but
you don't have to have cellular service with either company in order to use the device.
You do have to be in the U.S., however, as it only works on U.S. networks.
A SmartThings hub is also not a necessity, but Tracker works with V2, V3, SmartThings
Wi-Fi hubs, the ADT Smart Security Panel, and Connect Home hubs.
I tested it with both V2 and V3 and there were no differences in performance.
Finally, you will need the new SmartThings Connect app as it doesn't work with SmartThings
Classic.
Setting the device up is simple.
If you turn Tracker on before opening the Connect app, you will receive an automated
message prompting you to connect the device and tie it to a location.
If not, head to the Device tab, touch the plus sign, and select Tracker once it appears.
After that, simply follow the on-screen instructions.
The only problem I had during setup was that Tracker kept attaching to the wrong hub because
it was attaching to my default location.
You can change your default location using a SmartThings IDE login so I'll drop instructions
for doing below, but for now, let's talk about tracking.
First, I tried to track it by asking a friend to hide Tracker at a couple of indoor locations.
All Tracker can do is show the last known estimated address of your Tracker on-demand,
which it does with decent accuracy, but an estimated address doesn't tell you that much.
Generally speaking, cheap Bluetooth trackers are better at finding items indoors as they're
often equipped with things like alarms or proximity sensors that can really help you
hone in on an item, all things that Tracker is lacking which why I'm giving it a thumbs
down for indoor tracking.
Of course, if I was trying to find something larger than Tracker, like a car or a person,
I might have had better luck, which is why the device is more useful when tracking items
outdoors, but there is a catch...
Tracker can't map the device's location in real-time.
The best way to track something is to press the live tracking button.
This option will update the device's location once per minute for ten minutes.
By pressing the travel path button, you can also view the device's most recent travel
path and scroll through to see where it was at different points in time.
Alternatively, you can set up automatic location updates from the settings menu.
This option will automatically ping the device's location at set intervals with the shortest
interval being 10 minutes.
Of course, if you're trying to track an item, every 10 minutes is even less useful than
every minute which is why outdoor tracking gets a maybe you should buy it depending on
what you're trying to do.
Personally, I would not trust it to track a child or pet, maybe you could use it to
keep tabs on where you parked your car, but keep in mind that tracking a moving vehicle
or tracking from a moving vehicle is basically impossible.
The device is dust and water resistant so you can use it outside, but of course you
can do more than track so let's talk about that.
First, Tracker can send notifications.
You simply press the power button twice, which sends the device's location to your SmartThings
app.
Second, you can set two geofence locations.
For example, you might set one around your home and one around your child's school.
Third, Tracker can be used as an arrival sensor which means that you can use it in automations.
From the automations tab, click the plus button, select the location Tracker is attached to,
and then custom automation.
You'll see a condition here called "based on a member's location," but for me, this
only works with my phone, so I ended up using the option labeled as "based on device
status."
From here, select your Tracker, and then you can choose enter or leave zone.
If you want, you can add even more conditions like, only if it's between 11:00 am and
12:00 pm on a Tuesday or Thursday, and then we can add another condition like my security
mode is disarmed.
Under that, you can choose from notify me, control a device, and change this locations
mode.
And again, you can choose multiple actions like change mode to away, and turn off the
lights.
Finally, from the app, you can press the top button to toggle between street and Satellite
view or you can click on the date which drops down and allows you to view your location's
history by day.
I think the bottom line here is that I'm not overly enthusiastic about the Tracker but
I'm also not opposed to it.
It really just depends on why you want to use it.
If you have any questions about Tracker, let me know in the comment section below.

Can this device help you sleep better? Philips SmartSleep | DHRME #59 - Duration: 7:43.
all right so we're at IFA 2018 and obviously Philips has introduced a few
products - can you tell us a little bit about what .. well let me start by asking
you a question; so how many hours of sleep do you need at night? I would say
about eight hours. like to feel refreshed? to feel refreshed - I didn't sleep that much
last night I don't feel so refreshed. and you need eight hours? eight to nine.
yeah, eight to nine. now how many hours do you get usually? if my son cooperates
nine, eight to nine. you will get eight to nine. do you ever have days that you
don't get that? yeah. okay, and what about you, how many do you usually get? the seven to eight.
so about an hour less? yeah. so that's pretty typical story I mean I think most
of us know what we need and we often get less and we tired to try to catch up on
the weekends you actually can catch up on the weekends but we have a product
that we came out with that's designed for people in the twenty five to fifty
year old range who are not getting what they know they need to feel refreshed.
yeah, so it might work for both of you guys. so this is smart sleep this is a
headband that you wear to help improve the quality of your sleep, it's really
got three components that I'd like to show you. so this is an EEG sensor it
senses brainwaves you can tell you what stage of sleep you're in. this is the power
unit, okay and it stores some of the data and then you've got headphones in
here. it's all in the very soft casing. I'll show you what it looks like when
you wear it, this although also by the way is also for EEG for a reference
point when you have that reference point for that EEG you can really detect
brainwaves and you put that on the what they call the mastoid like
right behind your ear. so just goes on like this
this clips on to the sensor right behind your ear yeah this the headphones go
over your ears. you can feel them they're soft and then the
EEG sensor goes right here, press the button, turns on. that's it. and
it's comfortable to sleep. yeah I mean like anything it takes a little
getting used to - yeah but it's totally comfortable after a couple
of days. yeah and how long does it go with battery?
you charge it every morning, yeah and when you plug it in and charge it you
can sync it with the app and get your data immediately. and there are multiple
stages of sleep that you go through naturally when you sleep we can break it
into three stages to make it simple there's REM sleep which is mostly a
second half of the night that's dreaming and then there are two kinds of non REM
sleep there's light stages 1 & 2 that happens throughout tonight and
then there's deep or slow-wave sleep stages 3 & 4 that happens mostly in the
first half of the night. ok so we now over the past decade or two have learned
in sleep that slow-wave sleep is critical to feeling refreshed during the
day it's critical to cognitive functioning it's critical to mood so
when I wake when I don't get enough sleep I'm irritable I don't know about
you and 2 what we call executive functions these higher order cognitive
functions including the ability to inhibit like a response to a
stressful situation some of that irritability so what we do is we detect
when you naturally go into slow-wave sleep yeah and we deliver natural
tones in your ear okay one twentieth of a second you won't even hear them but
those tones help synchronize your slow-wave and boost the amplitude of
that wave so you get a higher wave you get more slow wave sleep and if you're
sleeping less but you get more slow wave sleep you'll wake up feeling better. so it's
quality not quantity? exactly I could have said it that easily.
and if I may ask like have you tested this and has it been
statistically significant? yeah so this first of all is based the concept is
based on several years of research that has been done
not by us but by other academicians I'm an academic researcher too but I haven't done
those studies and it's been published in top-tier journals so we know this is
really sound science we've also tested it with our product and we absolutely
see a boost in slow-wave sleep yeah and we've started we have launched this in a
very limited launch in the United States they're about 500 out there and we see I
think it's like 96% of the people say they wake up you know they give it more
than four stars and on you know other ratings and 70% say they wake up feeling
more refreshed. now this is a little bit of an issue because you have to
compare it to when you're gonna get if say I get six hours yeah and I use it I
might not wake up feeling like I got 9 yeah but I wake up better than I felt if
I got 6 without it without it ok yeah and I use it myself. so this product is
essentially for people to help improve the quality of sleep - absolutely to help you be
more ready for the day are there also other sleep disorders that you're
treating with this or do you have other products like for sleep apnea? yes we have a whole
series of products for sleep apnea, yeah and we've been you know we've been in
that business, very big in that business for nearly 40
years. so we are one of the market leaders in treating sleep apnea and I
personally have brought a lot of the psychology around engagement to that
product which has improved adherence to that product. this is designed for the
people who are by choice restricting their sleep and we're building other
products to help with other sleep disorders because there are a whole lot
of them. and all this is connected also with an app I'm assuming so you could get
insight into your sleeping patterns. it's a great it's a great point because you
know the other thing we don't want people to do the best treatment for not
getting enough sleep it's just to get more sleep, right. so in
this app we help coach you to getting that better sleep through extending your
sleep time and through getting better quality sleep.
and are you seeing any kind of use cases for it to be connected with other
Philips products like Philips Hue for example and those kinds of products? yeah
so we you know we're seeing potential to be connected to things like our wake up
light, to be connected to other products like that and as we come out with other
products we're absolutely going to be thinking about every user experience, you
know, if you have two sleep products from Philips in your house and it makes sense
to connect them we're gonna be on top of that. and what are we looking at in terms
of retail pricing and this is 399 right now it's a limited launch in the United
States but we're ramping up like I said we have about 500 out there. I think you
know pretty soon we'll have up to 2,000 out there so we're getting ramped up and
it's gonna be in the fourth quarter it's gonna be launched in a limited launch in
DACH. may I ask why is it a limited launch? you know I think this is
the first time we're in this part of the like the more the consumer sleep
business we wanna make sure we do it the right way and we're using we're getting
ambassadors for our products so that we have good relationships with those
ambassadors and we iterate on the product to make it best for the user. so
thanks Mark for your tips and I guess we'll sleep on it. all right you've been
awake and we've been DHRME

One Dev Question with Chris Heilmann - Can you add your own hints to webhint? - Duration: 1:18.
Can you add your own hints to webhint?
Yes, very much. We wanted to build webhint
as extensible as possible,
so that way you can define your own hints
if you don't agree with some of ours or you need things
that other people don't need to have tested as a hint package.
So you install an extra package
much like you do with other linters like ESLint or things like that
and you define it in your config file which ones to use.
That also allows you to send your configurations
back into the ecosystem of webhint
if you want to share your setup with other people.
And we very much encourage you to do it.
In the end, we want to have different settings
for different people to their needs.
What you build might be completely different to somebody else.
You don't need all the PWA rules,
you don't need all the accessibility rules.
Although, you probably should look at those
more directly than the others.
Security is the same for everybody
but you might have extra things that have to be set up
just for your environment.
So, instead of just relying on the hints
that we give you in webhint,
you can customize them and add them like you want to
because we want this to be as extensive as possible
and cater to your needs
not to the needs that we say what the web should be like.

What your business can learn from Cycling - Keeping your Momentum - Business lessons from the Saddle - Duration: 2:44.
Hi my name's Rich and just like you I'm a business owner and today we will be
talking about what you can learn from my bike saddle.
This is business lessons from the saddle.
So I need to explain something first. My wife and I went on
quite an incredible journey this summer we cycled 900 kilometers across France.
We started on the north coast of France in Dieppe and cycled down to the
Alps and all along the way I was relating the whole journey to business.
What I've learnt in business and how that relates to cycling and vice-versa
This series of videos is going to be all about business lessons from the
saddle what cycling kind of made me realize
about business and what's important. Today we're going to be talking about
momentum. I realised that as long as cycling along it's quite easy when you
get tired and you get your new groove things to slow down on the pedals but
then you lose your momentum and you slow down you've got to push harder on the
pedals to keep yourself going. I realized that happens in business quite
a lot we take our foot off the gas a little bit or stop pedalling as
hard and we lose momentum. Business slows down and then it takes more of an effort
to keep on going. Momentum is really important in business you've got
to keep on doing the little things every day to keep your momentum in your
business and this is something I've been guilty of in the past I've taken my foot
off the gas and the business is slowed down and then you've got to put so
much effort into start cranking and get you the business moving again.
Momentum in your business is key you've got just keep on doing the little things
otherwise it becomes a huge task that you just can't face and then you don't
do it so you lose momentum even more. Just do something today even if it's a
little thing just to keep your business moving and just keep on doing day by day
and just remember that you need to keep your momentum going.
I've also got a point out that my wife and I aren't cyclists or weren't cyclist
anyway. We bought the bikes a couple of weeks before we went. We put panniers on
them and we just went. This was a big trip and
there's a lot at stake I really didn't do much training at all I just got on
the bike and went. That is all from today we will be back soon with another
business lessons from the saddle

'What's the point?' Some Arsenal fans can't believe what Unai Emery has done against Watford - Duration: 1:59.
Unai Emery has named his starting XI to take on Watford in the Premier League and Aaron Ramsey is included, despite the breakdown in contract talks between himself and the club this week
The Wales international starts at the tip of the midfield three once again, meaning that Mesut Ozil will have to operate on the right hand side of the attack - rather than his preferred No.10 role
And Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Alex Iwobi once again have to watch from the substitutes bench, despite their impressive showings in the Carabao Cup success against Brentford on Wednesday night
The inclusion of Ramsey in the starting XI has certainly got everyone talking - with many Arsenal fans believing he should be left out of the side, given he could be leaving as early as January
Here's a selection of what's been said on social media about the midfielder getting the nod from Emery once again
@Reyynolds: Ramsey needs to be sold in January. @Chambiiiii: Hmmm Ramsey starts after this week's news
@Twin_Senyo: Miki should be starting. Enough of this Ramsey guy. @Kevmarqs: I would've benched Ramsey what's the point in playing him ?
@MrYvad_Capp: I'm tired of Özil playing out of position on the wing to accommodate Ramsey in the team @ #10
Özil should only play at #10

Jennifer, take one.
My name is Jacob Stewart and
I love to play hockey.
Favorite thing to do on the weekend
would be eat chips.
Dancing.
Hip hop primarily.
My name is John,
and I do stained glass.
I love to do stained glass.
I guess it's just one of those things
that you don't really think about until you put
yourself in that situation thinking about it now umm…
I think it's really important.
I really am not educated on the subject.
I am a donor.
It's hard to imagine what that would feel like.
It's a question where you have to like put yourself
in someone else's situation.
I would feel possibly a little maybe helpless.
I haven't gone through anything like that.
Think that would be a tough one for me to get
my head around.
Sometimes it's tragedy that strikes but it's a way
of giving life to someone else.
People can give another human being a second chance at life.
Together together let's make it zero.
I think that's possible.

Can Dogs Laugh As Well? | Kritter Klub - Duration: 2:00.
Gu-seul, you are really pretty
hahahahahah
Can dogs laugh too?
Yes they can, they can even also roar with laughter
But according to this video, the dog starts laughing
when it receives a sign, so it's trained to laugh
It's not an actual laugh
Dogs laugh by making noises?
This is the noise
It's a cheerful noise than breathing sound
According to an experiment, if we let a dog hear it
Aggressive dogs stop fighting with other dogs
and the dogs which are always nervous become calmer
So experiment results show that
laughing sound makes the dogs feel better
These dogs always fight with each other
Once they got into a very fierce fight
and I couldn't stop them
One of the dogs could have been killed
so I don't let them stay together
Would the laughing sound make them less aggressivge?
Now they regain their inner peace
I guess dogs will start laughing if we make them happy
This is a sound of a dog laughing
Make your pet(s) listen to this sound too :)
