The mind boggles.

Well he would be completely involved in England, of course.

But he was also a great Europeanist.

The minute the war ended,

he thought it was extremely important that

England immediately create strong bonds

with Germany and Europe.

I mean, I think Brexit would have appalled him.

But you can only speculate about that.

This film was the first thing

I did after wrapping "The Crown".

It was a wonderful thing to go

from that film then this.

Surprisingly, I didn't do that much makeup.

I'm more like Winston Churchill than I realized.

And getting more like Winston Churchill everyday.

They say every baby looks like Winston Churchill.

VLOGG #3 - WHAT I EAT IN A DAY + BENPASS (ENG SUBS) - Duration: 12:40.

Good morning!

How are you today?

I hope that you are doing well.

I was planning on doing another vlog today!

I wish my life would be as interesting as Jon Olsson's.

He's like flying helicopter and such things.

But that's not the case for me, unfortunately.

But I hope that you will find this funny anyway.

Now, this morning, I have a meeting to attend.

And then I'm going to train legs.

So I though that I should bring you guys with me on that.

And a lot of you have been asking about what I eat in a day.

And that, I will be showing you today, since I've got so many questions.

Yeah, so I'm sitting here.

And I'm having breakfast.

Which looks like this.

So this is oatmeal, raspberries, blueberries, walnuts, and coconut flakes.

And I mixed the oatmeal up with this one.

It is Whey Protein with the taste of banana.

And this is from Women's best!

And I also have some water.

I've started using products from Women's best.

Since I am their ambassador.

So much fun!

And people have also been asking me, since I am a lacto-intolerant, how it's working out for me.

These are actually functioning very well for me, but Women's best do also have Vegan-protein.

Which you can also eat, if you want to.

I can not just sit here eating and chewing... That's not working.

So I will eat this, and then I will talk to you guys later.

There! Now we're at the gym!

Here is my partner in crime! We're making a vlog today!

You can be in here as well!

Now we're going to train legs!

Are you guys ready!?

Yeah!

Can you handle this!?

- Can you handle this!? - I don't know.

Yeah of course I do!

We're getting going now!

You need to be here and check!

- So how do you think it's going? - Very well.

You're doing well.

What have we been doing?

What have we been doing?

Squats, two different kinds of them.

And leg press.

Standing like this :)

Doing this.

That's what we've done.

And then we've been using the split machine.

Let's continue.

My legs kind of hurt a little.

Now we're going home to eat some.

- Food! - Yeah.

Oatmeal.

And I'm also going to eat my ricecakes, which I always do after workouts.

Always ricecakes.

And some BCAA.

I'm going this way.

Now I'm here again, eating.

And it is like this.

When I train legs, I always start with some oatmeal.

Or some ricecakes, it depends.

But most often, I'm having some porridge in the mornings.

And since I had a meeting this morning, I had a big bowl of oatmeal since I knew that it was going to take some time before the gym.

And then I trained legs, and on my legdays I'm quite high on calories.

I don't count anything of what I eat during a day, I don't even have any idea.

I eat 5-6 meals a day.

I depends on how I plan my day.

I'm going back to the gym later today to do my cardio, I split it today.

So.

No I'm having breakfast number two.

The clock is just 11 am.

So I'm having a later lunch today, but that's OK.

I like to eat.

So I'm having my nr 2 breakfast now.

I made a porridge again. I love this.

And I topped this with some more bananas, some more carbs.

I've got blueberries, raspberries, coconut flakes and walnuts.

This is so tasty.

And then I also have 2 deciliters of oatmeal.

Oatmeal that I mixed with 2 cups of my protein from Women's best.

This time I used chocolate.

That's a bit different.

At least a little different from this morning.

It looks like this.

OK so it's been about three hours since I last had a meal.

I'm working a little.

And now I'm hungry again.

My belly starts to talk.

And now she woke up!

Fantastic.

Do you want to be in the vlog?

- No. - No!

OK, I'll talk to myself.

Yeah. Now I can speak a little louder.

Yeah it's been about three hours.

So now I'm having some lunch.

And I'm having chicken, potatoe, roasted parsnip..

And some roasted chick peas.

Salad, red cabbage, cucumber, and I'm drinking water.

We need to have ketchup.

Life would be so boring without ketchup.

Right, Fia?

I have eaten. Now I'm ready for my cardio session.

I was thinking that I will use the stair master.

We'll see for how long. My legs kind of hurt, to be honest.

From the leg workout a few hours ago.

I spent 45 minutes on the stair master today.

Fantastic.

Look at my sweat.

Grey was not really the colour for me today.

Now I'm drinking some of this.

And then I'm going home for some more to eat.

Do you want to join!? OK.

I usually prepare my food in advance, so that it's done and ready.

I've done that now, to show you guys.

Chicken, potatoes and parsnip.

Some salad with red cabbage and such things.

And broccoli.

So I'm going to eat that.

And of course, ketchup!

It most often looks like this when I'm eating, actually.

I'm not too picky when it comes to food.

I don't find it hard to warm up the food.

Are you taking a picture now!?

So I don't think it's a problem to keep the food in the fridge and then warm it up or so.

I really don't care about that.

And then it goes by so fast to have the potatoes in the oven.

It's so simple, and I usually shower or do other things meanwhile.

So yeah, we're going to eat. This food is for me and my roomie.

So now I've eaten breakfast two times, nothing in between since the meals were so close to each other.

And the late lunch.

And then I worked out again, I'm eating now, and I'm going to have another meal a little later.

Which I will show you by then.

Now it's time to eat, Fia's hungry.

Look at this. Yeah, you made yours look nice!

Look what a great job by my roomie! Well done!

Very nice.

And some ketchup!

It's evening now.

I'm going to bed in about half an hour or something.

I always eat a night snack before going to bed.

And it usually is made of casein

Because it is slow protein, which helps our recovery during our sleep

Very good and easy to make as a snack

It's perfect actually, and tastes very good too

This is usually how it looks like

Blueberries, raspberries and cinnamon

I usually eat this before going to bed

An alternative to this is eating egg whites, only cotains protein

Now I'm gonna eat this

Thank you so much for watching today

It is very fun that you're asking about vlogs, it's fun to share my whole days and so on.

It's so fun that you actually want to see it

For me it's like: shit what should I say? Who wants to watch me? I'm still not really used to this I guess.

Also I get to talk some Swedish, which is very nice

I hope you enjoyed my vlog today, where you followed me on a leg workout, cardio and seen what I've eaten and so on.

I hope you'll like it and get some tips and advices from it

And hopefully you'll feel that the "fitness food" doesn't have to be extreme at all

It's not only salad and such, its so much more, its really good food!

I really love the food I'm eating, otherwise I wouldn't be eating it.

Simple as that

I eat what I like

Thanks for watching and have a nice evening.

And I'll see you some other time in another vlog...

Please comment below what you want to see in my videos!

Have a nice evening and...

WHAT TO EAT IN OSAKA? KUROMON MARKETS! | JAPAN VLOG #6 - Duration: 11:10.

Ohaiyou Gozaimasu (Good morning)

So, on the agenda today

Kuromon Markets!

First

Breakfast time

Gonna have pancakes again today

Fluffy pancakes

Damn

Couldn't get the pancakes

Unavailable

So

I had to choose something else

it looks pretty good

I won't say what it is though

that's a bit inappropriate

what's the proper way you eat it?

I don't know

I'm just gonna spoon it

Is it potato and mash?

*Nods*

Just got to Kuromon Markets in Osaka

Let's find some food

So what you can expect from Kuromon Markets is

Fresh seafood

Oysters

Scallops

A whole bunch of stuff

and they're

HUGE!

Just waiting for our scallops

Our grilled Soy-Butter Scallops

It's been a whole year since we've had this

It's gonna be awesome

Argh it's still bubbling!

Yum!

Smells so good, let's eat

yummy

It's really buttery

and juicy

Very plump!

Can't let the natural juices go to waste

*Sigh*

So I got myself some tuna belly

Look how fatty it looks

Getting one of the

Extra Large Oysters

He's just washing it

It's as big as an iPhone 7

"7 Plus"

It's as big as an iPhone 7 Plus

So good!

So creamy

Just shopping for some seafood

Ooo giant prawns

That looks massive man

That's huge!

It's the size of my hand

and we're gonna grab a crab head

ok

Put it in your basket and

then you pay

and then they cook it for you

Looks like there's cheese

and some crab meat inside

That looks incredible

Ok, it's not what we thought it was

Tastes like macaroni & cheese

I think that's meant to be a little bit of crab meat

99% macaroni & cheese

So when you're at Rikuro

They actually have 2 lines

Line 1

You get a fresh cheesecake

but you've got to wait for a bit

The second one

It's a cheesecake that was made 2 hours ago

Still good

It's literally straight from the oven

Bouncy, fluffy

Gonna get a fresh one and eat it

YES!

Wah, look at that jiggle!

Wobble Wobble

There's so much skill

Wow

At this matsusaka beef yakiniku restaurant

You've gotta take your shoes off

to enter

So take them off

and you chuck them into the lockers

and they give you slippers

We're sitting on the mats here

And

There's a little cavity

to put your feet in

It's very comfortable

We're at Matsusakagyu Yakiniku

in Dotonbori, Osaka

This place is

well known for it's

Matsusaka Beef

which is arguably

The best beef

around the world

alongside Kobe Beef

We're really excited guys

because this is suppose to be

one of the best!

So Soft

It's just melting in my mouth

What's that?

"Cow fat"

Cow fat??

Oh, wow

So there's no butter or oil here

It's cow fat

This is the garlic rice

Ooo, what's that?

"This is sauce"

"This one is bibimbap"

That's the bibimbap

Look at that egg

That looks so yummy

We're going to try the Haneshita one first

Look at that marbling

The fattiness!

Yeh, definitely dip it in

the salt they give you

So I'm going to try the Kyukyoku now

So that's the fattiest piece

omg

This one just melts in your mouth

It's like jelly

That's the Shochu Pudding

This one's a redbean dessert

with some mochi

and this is another mochi dessert

and got a cute

pig fork

We're back at our AirBnb

and here guys

we have a

Pablo Cheesecake

The rare one

Which means its

Super melty inside

because they don't

cook it fully

Shhhh

Hey Malie

Yeh?

What are you doing?

Nothing

What?

Why are there crumbs on the bed?

What crumbs?

Huh?

What are you hiding? What are you doing?

What?!

What the hell?

I thought you were gonna leave me some?

but I love Pablo

One's not enough

But you said you'll leave me some. That's so mean

What Memory Cards Can I Use with Olympus Pen F? | Olympus Pen-F Mirrorless Camera Video Tutorial - Duration: 1:47.

Izzy here from Digital Goja.

Today I'd like to go over a frequently asked question

about the Olympus Pen F.

If this video helps you out remember to hit me up with a like button

underneath and subscribe to our channel.

Hey!

And when in Miami, come visit me at Digital Goja showrooms.

What kind of memory cards can I work with this camera

well it's SDXC compatible so that means you can use all these crazy new

gigabytes I mean we're up 128 gigabytes on these things, and it is UHS-II

compatible so it does work with the faster read write speed cards and it

fits right down here so you line it up and push it to it locks it in place it

has a spring-loaded feature don't ever let go cause I've had these things fly

off, but that way you can work with beautiful cards that allow you to do

full 1080 video and raw recording.

As a side note!

Make sure you are never trying to remove the card when your camera is on

and when it's writing to it because if it's doing that while it's blinking

notice how that's when it's actually writing you never want to remove the

card while it's doing that because that's just like ripping the hard drive

of your computer.

Well I hope I answered your question about

the Olympus Pen F.

And if I didn't, leave them in the comment section below.

Happy shooting!

Oh my gosh, it's the intro again.

Big Hit Entertainment. Cool.

Plz, I don't know Korean that well so I'm not translating the Korean parts (of this song). Plus, its mostly English anyway.

Hello, I am the King of Destruction, Rap Monster.

Let's clap and interfere Rap Mon.

We are just coming through.

Girl Alert!

We are just singing behind a girl that can obviously hear us. Don't mind us.

Hello, it's my eye.

Hello, its my eye part 2.

You, You, You!

Hi, my name is Jungkook and I'm "totally" a grown up.

I'm not a bad, bad boy, but I like bad, bad girls.

Especially girls with high, high heels like Nicki Minaj.

I'm just 18, and I know everything.

Let's not forget about the fact that I avoid a lot of girl band groups.

We are BTS!

If you don't know us, you should get out right now.

I am the best, best. 내가 제일 잘 나가 (Naega jeil jal naga)

So you better step off since we'll kill you with our handsomeness.

Thumbs up to me!

Because I'm cool, cool, cool.

Thumbs up to me!

*Inserts Girl Voice* Because I'm pretty, pretty, pretty.

Front to the back, back to the front. Let's dance, dance.

Front to the back, back to the front.

Let's slap Jimin's butt.

Let's run in place, place.

I'm Father Louis Williams Suga the Third.

Or Min Yoongi Jang Jang Boom Boom.

I sell gold chains for three dollars #imrich

Swag, Swag!

And now I'm up, but raised by 18 year old Jungkook.

I like to sleep. My dream is to become a rock.

But I compose my own songs unlike you guys. #savage

I'm your hope, I'm your angel. J-hope!

I'm so awesome. You're so fine.

Let's go out. Get in my car.

I'll open the car door for you.

Come in!

Nope!

Oh my god! My heart, my heart is. Oh my god!

You're like a tiny, tiny drop of dirty water.

We are BTS!

If you don't know us, you should get out right now.

I am the best, best. 내가 제일 잘 나가 (Naega jeil jal naga)

So you better step off since we'll kill you with our handsomeness.

Front to the back, back to the front.

Let's slap Jungkook's butt.

Let's run in place, place.

What happens to street dogs after accidents? Story of a stray dog - Duration: 6:56.

Last year, a lot of videos have emerged on social media and gone viral

which depict street dogs being tortured

now we know that the reaction it invokes is disdain

which is a good thing

It means majority of the people don't want this to happen

But, what can we do?

Even if you don't want this to happen,

doesn't mean it's not happening all over the country

Mass culling of stray dogs is not only a stupid solution,

but also inhumane and the worst thing in the world

Unexpectedly, I saw a puppy run over by a car

When I got closer, I saw this dog, a small puppy

with his front leg completely crushed

He was terrified, and he hid underneath a car

First, the people that had run over this puppy got down

saw the puppy and inspected the scene

This one just ran away,

and his feet were not working,

He was not able to even walk properly

So, they were also confused about what to do

But, they didn't bother

"Not a big deal, he'll be fine"

But when I saw him under the car,

He was fucking crying

The skin had come off his leg

His other paw was badly hurt too

And he was shivering in the cold

and he was sitting in water

water from the gutter

He was sitting in that puddle.

Like, he was about to die

He would have died if he had been left alone there.

Once I ignored it

thinking this is a common occurrence

But then, after a few minutes, I thought

if I don't initiate it and no one else does, he'll die

And then I called my friend and said let's do something

Let's take him to a doctor at least, then we'll leave him

I own a clinic called 'South Delhi Pet Clinic'

This puppy came to my clinic in a very bad condition, like he was about to die

After are treating the lacerated wound and dressing

I handed him back to the kind people that brought him in

And I advised them to get him admitted in some NGO

But they adopted him,

And this puppy came back here for further treatment

And he has improved a lot

There's about 60% improvement in his health

70 percent even

There are millions of stray dogs living on the streets

of all major cities in India

which thrive on human waste

There are also some authorities like Municipal Corporation of Mumbai

who take this issue seriously

and employ effective programes like spaying and neutering of stray dogs

When we found this puppy on the road,

we called 'Circle of Animal Lovers' in Saket

but got no response

They told us they can't help,

and stop picking up our calls

They should at least respond back,

if just to say if they need time to reach

or if they are already attending a case

They could've guided you for first aid

or told you they won't be able to come right away

if they need 15 minutes to reach,

half an hour or whatever

or if you could pick up the injured animal,

and drop it off to their location

It all depends on the NGO, and how they work.

There are a lot of things in news, like,

dogs being randomly crushed by cars or

if someone hurts these dogs intentionally

Sometimes the strays are at fault,

sometimes they are not

but

no one is bothered

"He is a street dog"

"He'll survive on his own"

Everyone moves on.

Solution?

Solution is not social media

beacause there's only one thing that's rampant there:

share it, that's all

People who are cruel towards animals,

there should be some strict action against them

penalties should be raised

There is this organization,

SPCA (society for prevention of cruelty against animals)

which takes action against these people

according to the law

So, what can you do?

How can you help?

Adopt.

We are not saying that just because you feel bad about the condition of stray dogs in your city,

you should start putting them in your home

We are saying, if you are looking to buy a new pet,

why not adopt?

In 20 days, we have made a bond

and

wherever I go, he follows me

there's some connection now

So, I guess

I'll keep him.

There are already two in my house,

there will be three now

Managing them is not a big deal,

my mom's pro

So, there's no issue at all

A dog is a huge responsibility

You have got to make sure they are vaccinated, fed well, healthy,

and there are resources for all of this.

I now have three dogs at my place,

including this one

Two of them are Sadak Chaap, one is Labrador

Some people have this problem,

they only use branded things

So, they look for brands in dogs too

"I need a German Shepherd"

"I need a Labrador"

These things don't matter at all.

The kind of population we have in India,

if everyone of us just adopts a stray dog.......

They are more intelligent than most species

They are very low-maintainance,

They have a happy disposition,

a strong immune system as well

Like, they are very adapted to this country, this area

where they already live

This is a very simple logic,

if you keep your dog clean,

he'll be clean

You are responsible for their habits

rather than saying, they are unclean because they are street dogs

At my home, both take their bath together,

they stay very hygienic

I can't differentiate between the two

for example

giving different portions or just bathing one of them

So, it's not like that.

They become your family.

So, you can also get one Uno

Look, there's one more behind us now

Uno, friend

UNO, friend!

enjoy

I hope you find

your uno

Talking about Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/ME - Duration: 6:44.

Hey guys!

My name is Jaleesa and I'm back for another video.

(fidget) And before we get started, you guys might notice, there's something a bit different

about my hair.

(fidget) And that's because for Christmas, my aunt got me these gloves/oven mitts that

basically keep me from touching hot things and (how) burning myself with my tics.

So, that has allowed me to straighten my hair again, which is quite nice.

So thank you to my aunt.

But today I wanted to talk a little bit about fibromyalgia (cats).

I know I haven't spoken a whole lot on this channel about fibromyalgia (fidget), but I've

been thinking about it a lot lately (how) and I think it's actually one of the only

conditions that I have, I guess, that I feel (fidget) a little bit uncomfortable talking

about sometimes.

I grew up with fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.

I've had it since I was about 9 or 10 (jeepsy).

My mom thinks it was 10 and I think it was 9, so who knows really.

When I was about 9 or 10, I got the flu a couple of times and I didn't really seem to

recover all that well (fidget).

Instead of lasting, like, a few days to a week like it did for most of my peers (cranberries),

it could last a few weeks or up to a month and this quickly became an ongoing thing where

I would get lots of chronic pain, nausea, lots of really bad headaches, a whole lot

of brain fog, etc., etc.

And I'm going to put a link in the description about what fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue

Syndrome are, like the conditions themselves (fidget) because I don't think I'm going to

explain it too deeply in this video.

Maybe in a future video, if you want to look out for that.

Right now I have a pretty great support system.

The people who are close to me totally believe me and all of that, but growing up, it hasn't

really always been that way (fidget) and I haven't really gotten the best reactions out

of people growing up.

Growing up, people, like, rarely, if ever, believed me that, like, I was actually sick.

At best, they thought I was just super anxious or depressed or whatever (fidget) and at worst,

and probably more likely, they thought I was just being (cats) lazy (fidget) or attention

seeking.

And growing up, I was very used to those reactions.

I hadn't really experienced any other sort of reactions.

At least not on a large scale.

So, I thought people disbelieving me and sort of writing off or dismissing my symptoms (hey)

was normal human behavior when you see someone that's sick.

And it wasn't until I grew up and got a diagnosis and ad this fancy name, fibromyalgia, attached

to it (Fiji) that people started taking me a bit more seriously and actually believing

that I was sick, but I still had, you know, years and years of people telling me that

I was just lazy and attention seeking.

So I think that definitely plays into a role of why I can still feel a little bit uncomfortable

talking about it today.

I mean, if you were to ask me about it directly, I would tell you, no problem (fidget), but

unless I'm, like, very obviously struggling with it, I probably won't bring it up and

even among my friends, if I'm, like, in the beginning stages of a flare up and I can sort

of hide it, I probably will.

(fidget) And probably another, bigger side to why I can feel uncomfortable talking about

it or, like, sometimes I'll try to hide it or play it down a bit, is that I really, really,

really don't want to be pitied.

Like, as much as people accuse me of being attention seeking (cats) as a kid, I really,

really, don't want people's attention that much.

Especially if it's just straight up pity.

I don't want people to feel bad for me.

I don't want to make the conversation depressing.

I don't want to be a bummer all the time and I certainly don't want to be complaining about

my health symptoms all the time (fidget).

I don't really like it when people know that I'm struggling with it, I guess (fidget).

Sometimes even people (fidget), when they're just being compassionate or whatever.

It can, like, freak me out a bit inwardly.

Just because it feels like it's too much attention, I guess.

Or maybe just because, growing up, it's not the reaction that I'm used to or prepared

for still, but I really do want to talk about it a little bit more on this channel and be

a bit more open about it.

I know I talk a lot about Tourette's on this channel and Tourette's is the issue that I

have that I talk about most in real life (fidget), but it's not the only thing in my life and

it's not the only thing that this channel is supposed to be about.

It's just the most (fidget) obvious and visible problem that I have and therefore, I think,

the easiest for me to talk about, but I would appreciate it if you guys were to ask some

questions possibly in the comments below.

Is there anything you want me to talk about with regards to fibromyalgia or Chronic Fatigue

Syndrome or just any of my other conditions like depression or ADHD, insomnia and whatnot,

or just me in general, questions about life, I don't know.

Whatever you guys want (laughter).

And I also want to give a shoutout to Katelynn Lunsford.

She has a couple of very cool videos about Tourette's and I will also be linking her

channel in (Hi!) in the description (cheese), so you can go check her channel out or subscribe

or leave a nice comment (fidget).

And I think that's all I've got for you today.

Like, comment and subscribe if you want to see more of my face and I will see you guys

in the next video.

Bye!

What you need to know about Copyright, Patents, Trademarks and Open Source! - Duration: 14:25.

Picture this: Because you've got nothing better to do, you take a stroll around the

interweb and you see this awesome design.

You want to have it, too, so you get to work on reproducing it with your 3D printer or,

for that matter, pretty much any other tool you can use to create stuff.

Even the humble ctrl+C, ctrl+V applies here.

But that's where you run into it.

Copyright.

Patents.

Trademark rights.

Maybe you even though your material was open source.

Well, let me explain.

[Intro] So today i want to touch on those four topics:

Copyrights for intellectual properties, Trademarks, Patents for inventions and, while we're

at it, how open-source works within that ecosystem.

This isn't going to be legal advice, and while a fair bit of what I'm about to show

you is based on the US and European situation and should be similar in other parts of the

world, there are still going to be differences from one country to the next.

So let's get into it!

First of all, these four topics of copyright, trademarks, patents and open-source are all

pretty much separate issues and with the exception of the interplay of copyright and open source,

none of these are inherently connected.

Let's start with copyright: And a lot of it is in the name already.

It's the exclusive right to copy an original work.

That's it.

Well, not quite.

Copyright applies to creative work in the widest sense, such as books and articles,

pictures, videos, music, sculptures etc.

And software, which is considered a literary work in the US.

The scope of copyright is important to know, because purely functional designs do typically

not fall within the scope of copyright and can only really be protected by a patent,

just like ideas and processes, and mere discoveries and unoriginal work don't get any acknowledgement

as far as copyright goes, at all.

So while, for example, I can claim copyright for my videos, the text and photos published

alongside them, I can not claim a copyright for most of my 3D designs because they don't

fall under the definition of creative work, as they are mostly functional, but also run

into another detail of copyright law: The threshold of originality.

Essentially stating that, even when your work is of an artistic nature, it needs to pass

a certain threshold of complexity or effort put into it to even be considered relevant

for copyright at all.

So while, say Loubie's Dragon designs are, no doubt original works of art, to which copyright

does apply, this simple, blocky throne design might not quite pass the threshold.

Actually, neither do these companies' logos, as they are not complex enough.

They are still registered trademarks, though, which, we'll touch on in a second.

Contrary to popular belief, a creator does not need to register their work or add any

sort of mark or text to their work to own the copyright on it.

So basically, any image, video, music piece, design, etc. that falls into the criteria

I just mentioned is essentially (c)opyright the creator, all rights reserved.

And that means *you* can't use it.

Yes, you're allowed to view it, but you can't use it on your own website, post it

to Facebook or use it on a business card, you can't integrate it into your own work

or even publish modified versions.

And neither a disclaimer like "I don't own the content shown here" nor attribution

to the original author are magic bullets that suddenly make that ok.

The US has a specialty there in the form of "fair use", meaning you are allowed to

use excerpts, for example from music tracks or movies, to discuss, criticize and parody

the material as long as you add your own spin.

Now, the question is, how does this even apply to 3D printing?

Well, there's definitely a bit of discussion going on in that area, but my understanding

is something like this: When you've got an original 3D design and simply print it,

the resulting part is still a reproduction of that design and therefore covered under

the author's copy-rights.

That is, considering you're looking at the design that is encapsulated in, for example

an stl file, and not just the bits and bytes of the file itself.

But in either case, grabbing artsy designs, printing them and selling them for profit

is probably not ok.

And even just publishing designs based on other original content can infringe on their

copyright, as for example the authors of a 3D-printable rocket design based on the TinTin

comics and another designer who published a left shark got to know when their designs

were removed from Thingiverse after a DMCA notice.

However, when it comes to something like design files and electronics schematics, the current

legal understanding is that, while the actual drawing of e.g. a schematic is original work

applicable to copyright, the actual function of the circuit is not.

So while you can't redistribute and reuse the actual drawing itself, you can still make

copies of the circuit and use it for your own purposes since that's the exclusively

functional portion of it, which isn't protected by copyright.

And here's where Creative Commons comes in.

As a copyright owner, you have the choice of explicitly allowing others to use your

work.

For free.

This doesn't mean giving away the copyright, you're just giving out usage rights.

Creative Commons lets you decide how and for what purposes people and companies can use

the content you release.

The most drastic one would be the CC-0 license, or public domain, where you allow anyone to

use that work in any way and for any purpose.

Obviously, unless you're super religious about sharing everything, signing away all

rights might be too extreme, so Creative Commons does allow you to put some conditions in place

that people should follow when they use your content.

Those go from having to attribute the author where his or her content is used or requiring

any new content that is created from the original one to be released under a compatible license,

so if the original piece is Creative Commons Attribution Share Alike, the resulting work

also needs to be licensed as Creative Commons Attribution Share alike.

You could also add conditions like not allowing to modify the work or not allowing it to be

used in commercial products.

That last one is a bit critical, because education in particular isn't clearly non-commercial,

so often work with that license addendum doesn't get used where it's needed most.

These terms can be combined to form the various Creative Commons licenses.

So to recap copyright: By default, the creator owns all rights to a creative work, so even

when he or she shows or posts it publicly, it doesn't mean you can, too.

Unless, of course, he decides to specify a liberal license like Creative Commons that

allows other people to use their work.

Copyright does not apply to many 3D printable models, as they are either purely functional

or don't pass the threshold of originality.

But wait, there's more!

Let's quickly touch on trademarks before we move on to patents.

So unlike copyright, a trademark does usually need to be registered.

Its purpose is to identify who made a product, which for example keeps Pepsi from making

a product called "Coca Cola" or even from using similar sounding names or logos on their

products.

Keep in mind that trademarks and copyright are mostly independent of each other, for

example, the copyright on many of the earlier Mickey Mouse shorts has expired, while the

character design and name is still a trademark of The Walt Disney Company.

And companies do need to enforce their trademark or it will be considered abandoned, so don't

be surprised when your flexible filament shoe design bearing those three stripes gets taken

down or you even get some snailmail from a lawyer for publishing it in the first place.

Now, patents start where copyright leaves off, at least when it comes to functional

designs.

A registered patent will have a similar effect to copyright when it comes to principles of

operation, processes and mechanical functions.

The difference being, of course, a patent needs to be registered and paid for, which

will give you a maximum of 20 years of protection of your invention.

However, for those 20 years, the patent holder has the exclusive right to sell and import

goods that use the technology covered by the patent.

And in the same way way that copyrighted things can be licensed for others to use, so can

a patent, but it's usually not going to be free.

Quite the opposite, actually.

Patents are key factors when it comes to defending your company against patent claims - we've

seen this in Apple vs Samsung regularly, where both parties know they are infringing each

other's patents and essentially just use the court case to figure out who should be

paying whom how much money.

They are also routinely used in judging how much a company is worth and can even serve

as trading goods, which is where patent hoarders or patent trolls stem from.

And that is because patents are hugely more powerful than copyright - they don't only

apply to an exact part a manufacturer makes, but also to any other implementations somebody

else works out by using the same principles.

So, say you owned a patent for the process of using a heated nozzle to melt plastic and

then smearing that down in layers to make an object, in that case nobody else would

be allowed to make an FDM 3D printer unless the patent holder - in that case, Stratasys

- allowed it.

And rest assured, for those 20 years from 1989 to 2009 Stratasys definitely made sure

that sure that patent was used only where they approved.

Which is also why the RepRap project got started right after the patent expired.

The thing is, for a patent to be considered valid, it needs to be a considerable advancement

of the state of the art and there can't be any prior art, so you or your company actually

have to be the ones inventing something new and, in theory, can't just copy someone

else's prior work.

And one spicy detail about patents is that, by design, they need to be public.

Some companies actually don't patent their developments to keep others from using them

as a blueprint and evading the patent claims by modifying a few minor details.

But it looks like that "the rich get richer" system of patents is slowly getting a bit

of a makeover.

There have been some efforts to limit the power of patent trolls that only buy patents

to sue others without actually making use of the patents for developing a product.

Also, Tesla has declared that their patents will never be used to attack a competitor

for using them, but only as defense when someone to sue them over patents they might be infringing

on.

Elon Musk has called their "open source" or "public domain", which technically,

are terms that only apply to copyright, but we get the idea.

So let's talk about open source in the context of trademarks, patents, and copyright.

Because at its core, the "open source" term only means that you are opening up the

source files of your finished product - for software, that is the source code that the

program is compiled from and for hardware, the design files, drawings and such, are typically

considered the "source".

For something to be considered "open source" as intended, those source files need to come

with a liberal license that allows universal reuse.

So for example a creative commons no-derivatives or Noncommercial license is often not considered

a true open-source license because, even though the source files are public, you're still

severely limited when it comes to how you can use those files.

In general, someone publishing something as open-source will make all files available

that are needed to reproduce and modify it, and also allow that reproduction and modification

to happen by attaching a liberal license.

And the idea behind this is that instead of having to figure out the same things independently

of each other, everyone can build on previous work and then also shares their work under

a liberal license for other to use.

This creates an ecosystem of open-source products that each have a much easier job getting to

the finish line, and in turn give back to the community.

But keep in mind that while something can be shared with, say, a Creative Commons or

GPL license, patents and trademarks of third parties are completely independent of that

and might still put some restriction on how you can them.

So while open-source software is pretty much figured out with the various GPL licenses,

hardware is a bit of a different story.

Putting 1 and 1 together, as functional hardware isn't covered by copyright, it seems as

though there wouldn't be any restrictions on copying, say, 3D printer hardware or entire

machines unless they are protected by patents.

Which seems counterintuitive, but after the research I've done on these topics, it seems

like that is exactly the case.

I might have to update to my position on clone product for that.

So, let's recap: Copyright applies to all creative work and grants the creator the exclusive

right to share the work.

Trademarks typically need to be registered and identify a specific product or company.

Patents protect inventions and unique functional designs, and while they are valuable assets

to a company, they will also expire within a given time.

And lastly, open source is the idea of deliberately sharing plans of a design for others to use

for their own projects.

Now, obviously, if i did get something wrong, let me know in the comments below, this video

isn't legal advice, but a summary of the research i've done over

Gerion Lannister: what happened to Tyrion's favourite uncle? - Duration: 11:24.

So the Game of Thrones show is based off a really long series of books.

Longer than The Lord of the Rings and the Bible combined – and the series hasn't

even all been written yet.

So to fit this huge story into seventy-three hours of TV, the show cuts out a lot of characters

and plots from the books, which kinda sucks, cause a lot of them are really cool and mysterious

– for example, the story of Gerion Lannister.

The Lannisters we meet in the show include Tywin – father of Cersei, Jaime and Tyrion

– and Tywin's brother Kevan – father of Lancel, Martyn and Willem.

But in the books, Tywin has three more siblings – there's Genna Lannister, a smart, domineering

woman married to a Frey, and Tygett Lannister, a skilled warrior who died of a pox years

ago, and then there's Gerion.

Gerion was Tyrion and Jaime's favourite uncle growing up . He taught Tyrion to tumble,

to cartwheel and walk on his hands , and encouraged him to learn about the wonders of the world

. This was in contrast to the eldest Lannister Tywin, always so stern and serious . Tygett

and Gerion felt they were in Tywin's shadow, but while Tyg got angry that he could never

match Tywin, Gerion would make a joke of it all – "Better to mock the game than to

play and lose" . So Gerion travelled the east , he competed in tournaments , he fathered

a bastard daughter, Joy, by a common woman, Briony . And then about seven years before

the start of the main story, Gerion went on a quest to find House Lannister's lost Valyrian

steel sword, Brightroar . So Valyrian steel is a magical metal , made

in Valyria centuries ago.

It was used to make weapons, like swords, that were sharper, stronger and lighter than

swords of regular steel . But when Valyria blew up, in the Doom, the secret of making

the steel was lost . Now, there are only a couple of hundred Valyrian steel blades left

in Westeros . Many of them are treasured as the heirlooms of noble houses – for example,

Heartsbane is the Valyrian blade of House Tarly, and Longclaw was the sword of House

Mormont until Jeor gave it to Jon Snow – in the show, Jon discovers Valyrian steel can

kill white walkers , which is another reason it's important.

Brightroar was once the Valyrian blade of House Lannister – they paid a huge amount

of gold for in the years before the Doom . But about a century later, after Valyria was destroyed,

King Tommen Lannister went on an expedition to plunder the ruins of Valyria.

He took Brightroar with him – and "never returned" . So Brightroar, one of House

Lannister's most valuable treasures, was lost, and ever since, they've tried to replace

it.

Tywin offered to buy Valyrian swords from poorer houses, but was always refused . So

Gerion, the more adventurous, or perhaps just "reckless" Lannister , decided to go find

Brightroar himself, where Tommen lost it centuries ago – in the ruins of Valyria .

Valyria was once the capital of a prosperous, powerful empire, but after its mysterious

destruction, a smoking broken ruin remains.

In the show, Tyrion and Jorah sail through it like it ain't no thang, but in the books,

Valyria's cursed.

It's said the very sea there boils and smokes, the land is overrun with demons, and anyone

who "lays eyes upon [its] coast is doomed" . Whole armies have marched into Valyria and

never returned . But that didn't stop Gerion.

He set sail from Lannisport, and headed for Valyria . When he stopped off at Volantis,

half his crew deserted him, and he had to buy slaves to replace them, cause everyone

was so scared of sailing the Smoking Sea . After Volantis, Gerion disappeared – and was never

seen again.

So… what happened?

There are lots of different theories.

The most obvious one is that Gerion died in Valyria.

We don't know exactly what the dangers of Valyria are, whether they're toxic volcanic

fumes, or demons, or magic, but there's clearly something nasty there, cause it's

killed so many people before – Gerion's ancestor Tommen included.

Gerion might also have been shipwrecked, attacked by pirates, or killed in a mutiny of his crew.

However it happened, it's a likely explanation – that Gerion is dead and won't be seen

again.

But there are other theories.

Not everyone who's sailed to Valyria has died – Euron Greyjoy claims to have been

there , and it looks like he's telling the truth, cause in the books he has a Valyrian

dragon horn , and a set of Valyrian steel armour . If Euron has been to Valyria, and

Gerion apparently died there, maybe Euron and Gerion ran into each other, maybe Euron

killed or captured Gerion, maybe Gerion is one of the mute oarsmen on Euron's ship

the Silence – but… this is unlikely because of the timelines – Gerion sailed for Valyria

about eight years ago , but Euron went on his big voyage about two years ago – so

unless Gerion was hanging around in Valyria for six years, he wouldn't have met Euron

there . Another theory is that Gerion became the "corsair king", a pirate who's been

mentioned raiding round the Summer Isles, but again, the timeline doesn't fit.

The corsair king is "new" , only recently started raiding, so if the corsair is Gerion,

what was he doing these last eight years?

One of the crazier theories is that Gerion is the Shrouded Lord, a mysterious mystical

figure who lives in the Sorrows, which Tyrion passes through in Dance.

YouTuber Preston Jacobs argues that the Lord seems to spare Tyrion from getting greyscale

from stone men , that both Gerion and the Shrouded Lord are associated with laughter

, and that the Lord must look like Gerion because Tyrion dreams of the Lord being Tywin

. It's a fun idea, but the text doesn't really support it.

The dream has nothing to with Gerion, the laughter connection is barely mentioned in

the text, and the Lord sparing Tyrion is tenuous at best.

To complicate things some more, it is mentioned that this "corsair king" supposedly is

the current Shrouded Lord – shit's most assuredly confusing and complex, but in the

end, there's just no good evidence that Gerion is the Shrouded Lord or the corsair

king, or anybody else.

Not every missing character has a twist and a secret identity – Gerion probably is just

dead in Valyria – but there's still another theory to address.

It's about a woman called the Sailor's Wife, a prostitute in Braavos who only beds

the men who marry her in fun little temporary wedding ceremonies . The Sailor's Wife has

a daughter, called Lanna , who has "fine long golden hair" . Blonde hair and the

name Lanna make the girl sound like a Lannister , right?

And we hear that the Sailor's Wife prays for "her first husband, her true husband",

"her old love", "who had been lost at sea" . Maybe the Sailor's Wife's "first

husband", and the father of her blonde daughter Lanna, is Gerion Lannister.

Gerion was "lost at sea", that's the exact phrase consistently used to describe

him . And Gerion would explain Lanna's blonde hair and name.

Further, the fortune-teller Yna , claims that the Sailor's Wife's husband is dead – which

fits the idea that Gerion died in Valyria.

So this seems like pretty strong theory but again – the timing's tricky.

Lanna is fourteen in the fourth book , which means she was fathered years before Gerion

sailed to find Brightroar, which is fine, cause we know he travelled the east before,

but remember Gerion's daughter Joy?

She is eleven in the fourth book . Which means for Gerion to have fathered both Joy and Lanna,

he must have sailed to Braavos, married the Sailor's Wife and fathered Lanna, then left

and just two years later fathered Joy on Briony in Westeros – and a few years after that

sailed to Valyria and died.

Which is… possible, but seems weird.

It totally undercuts the whole tragic love story of the Sailor's Wife if her long lost

husband actually just dumped her and left to hook up with someone else.

Also, the Sailor's Wife was "no older" than fourteen when her husband left, and she

and her child both work as prostitutes to support themselves.

Why would Gerion not send a little Lannister gold their way at some point?

Joy seems to be pretty well supported – why treat the Sailor's Wife differently?

Tyrion's favourite uncle doesn't sound like the sorta guy to so coldly abandon a

loving wife and child.

So what gives?

The might be a solution in the timing.

While writing the fourth Game of Thrones book, George Martin planned to leave a "five-year

gap" between the third and fourth books, meaning Book 4 would pick up the story five

years after the third, with all the characters five years older – Arya would have spent

five years training with the Faceless Men, Bran would have been learning from Bloodraven

– but Martin found the gap didn't work so well for other characters, so after a year

of writing with the gap, he scrapped it, and instead had Book 4 pick up where Book 3 ended

. This meant he had to go back and re-write a lot of what he'd already written, changing

stuff to remove the gap.

He would have had to change details like dates and years and… ages.

The five-year gap made everyone five years older, so to remove the gap from what he'd

already written he'd have to make some characters five years younger and maybe – just maybe

– he made a mistake – and forgot to change back the age of Lanna.

Because if Lanna was five years younger, she'd be nine instead of fourteen, which would mean

she could have been conceived the same year that Gerion sailed for Valyria.

Which changes everything.

Instead of Gerion having to sail to Braavos, marry then dump the Wife, go back to Westeros,

father Joy, then sail to Valyria, he could have just stopped off in Braavos and met the

Wife along the way to Valyria – with every intention of coming back to her – until

he was tragically "lost at sea", leaving the Wife and Lanna longing, never knowing

if he'd return.

That fits the tragic story of the Sailor's Wife much better, and the math works perfectly

– Lanna's fourteen in Feast, minus five for the gap makes nine, so she'd be born

in the year 291.

Gerion sailed eight years before Storm, which happens in 299, so he sailed in about 291.

It looks very very possible that George Martin made a small mistake with Lanna's age.

So Gerion probably didn't meet Euron.

He probably isn't a corsair, or the Shrouded Lord.

He's probably a corpse somewhere in Valyria – which is all the more tragic cause it

looks like he left behind a child and a Wife who love him, who he may have meant to return

to until he sadly died.

And you almost wouldn't know it cause it may be George forgot to do some math.

Thanks for watching.
