5 talking points from Newcastle 1–1 Liverpool - Coutinho reintegrated, but Sturridge struggles

Liverpool carried September's disappointing form into October, as the Reds failed to impress in a 1-1 draw with Newcastle United at St James' Park.

Newcastle United 1–1 Liverpool.

Premier League, St James' ParkOctober 1, 2017.

Goals: Joselu 36'; Coutinho 29'.

Coutinho's Reintegration Complete.

There was naturally an element of concern as to how Coutinho would respond to his failed summer move to Barcelona.

But any fears the Brazilian would down tools have been emphatically dismissed, with Coutinho hitting simply stunning form since gaining full fitness during his reintegration period.

The Reds' No.

10 was once again main man at St James' Park, and showed just why the club fought so hard to keep him at Anfield.

Coutinho's stunning curling opener was a simply world-class effort—one that will only strengthen Barcelona's desire to take him to the Nou Camp eventually.

And he was also the Reds' brightest hope of any route to victory as he orchestrated play throughout—posting four key passes, the most of any Red—while trying to be the man to drive the team forward.

Unfortunately Coutinho's attacking team-mates were the ones almost refusing to play—with Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Daniel Sturridge (more on him below) all frustratingly poor—but a third goal in as many games shows his reintegration is complete.

Sturridge Struggles on 'Fab Five' Audition.

It was expected that Jurgen Klopp would give his 'Fab Four' another rehearsal to get their act in sync, but it didn't happen as Roberto Firmino made way for Sturridge.

The striker was handed his own audition to prove he can become the newest member of the band at St James' Park, but Sturridge didn't take his opportunity.

The 28-year-old was a yard off the pace and barely involved throughout—too often ponderous in possession—and he lacked the speed or desire to trouble Newcastle's back line.

Sturridge had the chance he will have been hoping for early in the second half, but he could only fire a tame effort straight at Rob Elliot after pouncing on an error in the Magpies' defence.

It was an opportunity Sturridge of old would have gobbled up, but that he failed to shows his current struggles, which are becoming increasingly worrying with poor performances when deployed from the start in recent games.

Sturridge's early withdrawal was no surprise—he was lucky to even last 74 minutes—and on this showing, it will remain the Fab Four rather than become the Fab Five.

When Your Luck's Out….

Luck has always played a big role in football, but it's well and truly out for Liverpool at the moment.

While the Reds were disappointingly architects of their own downfall, the amount that again went against Klopp's side only compounds the frustration.

Liverpool couldn't get a break in the first half when Gini Wijnaldum saw his clever effort hit the post, before Dejan Lovren then saw his strike cleared off the line and Sadio Mane lashed wide.

And then the way Joel Matip make a brilliant recovery challenge, only to see his clearance hit Joselu and trickle past Simon Mignolet and into the net was farcical—and completely summed up the lack of fortune.

Yes, you can't rely on luck to carry you through games or get wins, and it shouldn't ever take away from the fundamentals of performance, but just one break in our favour would be nice.

Rafa's Reunion Reminds of Former Reds' Defences.

It's not often pre-match talk is dominated almost completely by off-pitch matters, but the trip to St James' Park was one of those moments as the Reds met for a special reunion with legendary former boss, Rafa Benitez.

The travelling Kop showing their adoration by bringing out some Kop classics pre-match and in the early exchanges for the man who brought the miracle of Istanbul and the FA Cup to Anfield.

It made for a 'Rafa love-in', with the home faithful similarly forthcoming in their appreciation for Benitez—making for a surreal occasion the Magpies manager will never forget.

Benitez also won't forget that he remains unbeaten against the Reds as an opposing manager—now a five-game run.

Being able to quite comfortably extend that won't be something that will have surprised the Spanish tactician, who will have watched on with joy and horror at the state of Liverpool's defending for his side's equaliser—a far cry from the tight, organised units he assembled.

Given the results, it seems these reunions are enjoyed by no one more than Benitez himself, but could the biggest one be yet to come with a return to the home dugout at Anfield?.

As Rafa said pre-match, "you never know.

Pressure Now On Reds For Crucial October.

Sunday's trip offered an immediate chance to spark a better month of form and results in October, but the Reds' could only bring a September hangover with them.

Klopp's men would have been desperate to open what is an extremely tough month with a win, and failure to do so now adds extra pressure with the way the season could be shaped in the coming weeks—yes, already.

Huge league games loom against Man United and Tottenham after the international break—which make the final clash of the month against Huddersfield Town an absolute must win—and the first match in the pivotal Champions Leaguedouble-header with Maribor.

It may be still be early, but results in those games could go some way to shaping the campaign—whether it's going to be a real battle for top four, or dreams of a title charge can be kept alive if we can click in those matches.

We will also go some way to discovering whether qualification for the knockout stages is viable, or a venture into the Europa League is a realistic possibility.

Some of these early season answers will come in what is now a pressure-filled October with no breathing space.

Let's hope they prove to be the right ones.

Absolute Favorite - 5 Movie Classics Everyone Has Seen (But We Haven't) - Duration: 19:20.

Hey everybody welcome to absolute favorite the unscripted pop-culture list show this is our very

Third episode number three big number excited me big number three. We're excited you could join us today

My name's Jordan. I'm Matt Dolly

Yes, he is and today. We've talked at the last a couple episodes we talked about TV

We talked about video games absolutely, so this week. We're going to be talking about movies

Specifically we're going to talk about those movies that we haven't seen that

It seems like everyone else has those kind of blind spot movies for us. So we're gonna look pretty stupid on this one

I know. This is like where we're putting our like

Nerds souls out there like what is wrong with you people really opening up to you

Yes How have you not seen x y&Z so let's dive right in with number one all right start with a first my first one I

Have not seen I'm sure people are gonna make fun before I've never seen

Boogie nights boogie nights, you know I haven't on my list. I've never seen it either. That's a true story really yep, wow

I'm never seen it. You know I hear good things about it, but I just haven't seen it

I mean, you got you know Mark Wahlberg

I don't really care for him. I don't I mean that's kind of if he's got a sweet spot

I assume boogie nights. Is it yeah like that's kind of the type of role. He's good at yeah

I I hear it's actually a good movie that you need to see but I just have never seen it

Yeah, I hear ya. I'm right there with you on that one all right. Why don't we lead on to yours?

I want a little further back in time just with this one other ones are more much more recent, okay?

I've never seen it's a wonderful life really really um. I watched tons. Have you seen it? I i have seen it and

I'm not a huge fan. I hear his name great

But I watch a ton of Christmas movies though Christmas every year Christmas Eve

That's like all I do and but I didn't like Jimmy Stewart. I know it's you

Little girl would every time a bell rings. Yeah, I mean I know it's one of those classics, but

It's one that I I've kind of made up my mind like

I'm never really. I don't think I'm here gonna watch it unless someone. He's like. We're watching this yeah because I just don't really care

I have no Desire to see it. I I don't think you're missing that much yeah

To be honest I I think that with with that movie

maybe

About the last 20 minutes is tolerable

But, I mean

Mean-spirited is mean-spirited that's kind of long. It's kind of boring you know, but yeah the last 20 minutes everybody thinks iconic in them

Yeah, I mean I've seen the last 20 minutes. I feel like I know at least I know what happens. Yeah exactly

I'm off to a good start. Yeah, I'm sure plenty before I like you too. Hate Hate Hate comments. Yeah, that's okay

We love you still well, but some of you yeah

Number 2

All right Dolly. for my number two. I feel really bad about this one, and it's one that I keep meaning to remedy and I

Just have never gotten around to it. I have never seen God I've never seen

the Godfather

Really the original Godfather. I've never seen it I've seen

Every mobster movie. I've seen godfather. I've seen goodfellas. I've seen casino. I saw so many and I love gangster movies

Yeah, and I just I've never seen the godfather never seen the godfather

I really have this weird version of the godfather my head too. I've seen I'll bet I've seen pretty much the whole movie just

pieces but it's like three hours long They have some iconic scenes that you've probably seen yeah, and you've seen them

Redone and yeah remade in a bunch of movies yeah, I mean

But it's definitely investment in your time it

but it is a long you know there are long movies and

Sometimes you just don't get around to those kind of things but to me a movie like It's worth your time

I love Goodfellas and Goodfellas. Just seems like a more

Fun movie like I know how there's really good

But goodfellas is just fun, and so it's like if someone wants to watch your mobster movie

I usually won't watch like that. Okay. Casino, or something like that

well if I had an orange in my mouth, I would be like AAAAAHHHHH why haven't you seen it! (laughter)

Are you a ghost? (laugher) No its a scene from the movie...

But anyway, all right? What's your number, two? Uh?

mine actually

Is taxi driver you've never seen taxi - never seen taxi driver

I have driven in the taxi cab, but you've driven a taxi go no I've been. No I have been the passenger in a Taxi...

Okay, but yes, I've never seen taxi driver

I know its iconic, and I just you know it's been on my list to watch

But I just haven't seen sometimes hard to go back to his movies from like you know that that time yeah

And really say I'm gonna sit down and invest you know two or three hours of my time to watch this film that everyone I

clearly everyone has seen yeah, so yeah taxi driver. Wow you know yeah we suck, we're dumbasses. We should

Actually watch these together at some point. Yeah, okay. Maybe we'll take you along for the ride...

Movies that we don't know all right we are on number 3

Number 3 what you got?

Ahhhhhhhh "Fargo"!

You have never seen Fargo!!!!!!!

Oh my God! Fargo is so good! I've seen the clip with the wood chipper

Yeah, the wood chipper with Steve Buscemi but I've never seen it in full. I have ever watched the TV show? I have never seen that

Ok because that would be even worse...

Yeah, that way we're not seeing the guy that's why I've never seen this because I've heard good things about it

But I've never seen the original movies phenomenal. I know...

That is what everyone tells me! Thats like the Cohan Brothers best movie!

I know. I just never seen it. It's fantastic that one. I'm like I said

It's kind of like you've seen bits and pieces so you think you've kind of seen it. Yeah, that's why I haven't gone back

But I really should watch the full thing I'd watch fargo with you. Yeah, I haven't seen it forever

It's been a long time, but it's a fantastic. All right. It's a date. Okay. Let's do it

My number three is probably even more embarrassing the godfather. Oh

I'm never seen groundhog day

never seen groundhog day wow never seen

Groundhog day I feel like just like the Godfather I feel like it's a movie

That I've literally seen the entire thing like I feel like the diff watched every part of it at different points

But I have this weird amalgamation of the movie in my head, and I feel like yeah, I've seen like every bill murray movie

I'm and for some reason that one just has never made it to the plate with me well

I mean, it's got very iconic scenes since I mean like I mean I know some of the best jokes

And I think that's one oh yeah, yeah, man that that's what ruins it for you

Yeah, I mean

I've seen those because really you know you don't watch a comedy like that for really the story

I mean yeah, I already know all the good jokes. It's hard to go back and say oh, I watch Groundhog Day!

It says I know the plot and I know the good jokes. It's like. What's the point of watching it? But I know all the jokes already!!

Yeah The good jokes are still good jokes even though I haven't seen the movie

So I don't know that's but I think that's probably my most embarrassing one of the list what I feel like

Everyone this like literal act like everyone has seen that movie except for me

I really got a hold of bill murray and tell them how

Please don't (Laughter)

All right, let's move on to number

Let's move on to Number 4

Ready for number four when I saw I keep saying you know between each take I've told I've told matt you know

This one's more embarrassing this one this one is

Pretty bad, too. Oh are we gonna be friends after this? I'd never see here

I've never seen the Shawshank redemption really

Never seen it and I just no excuse for that. I don't know wow. I love the cast

I love you know it's an adaptation Stephen King

This I should have seen it. I don't know

I'm so sorry, but I've never seen I've seen I think the last

half hour like I think I

Feel like I've seen the end of that movie a dozen times

I know I've seen parts of it here and there, but yeah, I never sat on watch the Shawshank redemption

Well, we're going to need to see it because "if you're not busy living your busy dying."

I assume that is a clip from the movie!

Get busy living or get busy dying Jordan, okay, all right

What's what's yours my number, four is actually a comedy that everybody tells me is a classic

I just have never seen it it is

Sorry something about Mary what never seen it like I said you know I've seen like the zipper scene

And this is the farrelly brothers I know in your prime to see that

Raunchy comedy. Oh, I know I need to see it, but you know I it's still really funny

I know I you know cuz I've seen the hair thing and I seen the never seen and the zipper scene

You know you guys you know the dog in the cast or whatever

But I just never never you know cuz yeah

I think the biggest thing is like you know you

You're a little bit embarrassed to tell someone that you've never seen it because and so then

you have no one to watch it and its boring to watch a comedy by yourself...

Especially a comedy when you want to laughs with someone... yeah comedies are much easier to watch other people and yeah

It could be embarrassing to watch

Like a classic like that that you have not seen yeah, I admit to people you've not seen it okay. I'm sorry shame shame!

You and I am we have some serious shame a shame

Number five let's get this list over with. Yeah I feel like we are on death row right now in the Shawshank redemption

Yeah I don't know

It was just a jail reference...

number five It's time for our last one

I've never seen oh

good will hunting

never seen good will hunting

Never seen good will hunting wow I feel like it was one of those movies, that...

Don't know I I feel like what a lot of pop-culture

Kind of Staples like that at some point. You make up your mind like yeah, I don't want to see it

I feel like that's kind of what I've done with good will hunting yeah, I just sort of decide

It's like Matt Damon. Ben affleck are such huge stars at this point that I was just kind of like yeah

forget it! I don't I don't it's not that I'm

Like these other ones like I want to watch the GodFather at some point

Good will hunting I really don't care about well. You know I hear it's awesome. You know I actually

The first time I saw it was like a year ago honest

No, really yeah, because hell that was and it was worth a watch you know hugh. You know mostly. I I really liked

Robin will yeah, I know you really to me. He really makes it

That's such a good yeah, I'm not saying Matt Damon

Ben affleck wasn't good in it, but yeah, I mean with an icon like that

It's I mean he takes especially that was like there from that was like their big break movie wasn't it yes? Yeah?

Yeah, they were just getting started to have an established guy like that would be tough, but yeah

That's I feel like I should have seen it though like when it came out

And that's when I was first really getting into yeah, you know you smile you

smile

Yeah, but that's okay. What's your major? Wow? Yeah? What's your major, bro?

Sir last one nothing to embarrass ourselves a little more I've never seen

the first anchorman

Let's even seen the second anchorman, but I've never seen the first one. How did it how's that possible?

I don't know yeah, that's ridicu

I

Know that's the most shocking one on this list. Yeah, it is because I had only one not yet

But again to embarrass steve and bring it up to someone yeah, because I'm like you should be yeah

I am I'm very embarrassed about it but but I will eventually see it, but I just

never admitted at any, but I've never actually you know I've seen bits and pieces on tells yeah, but I

Want to see it like in the unedited form because then the TV version would just be awful

But I'm sure you've probably heard every line in it because people

run it for me again because I

Yeah, everybody always. You know quotes it and say, I'm just like

Take it man. I'm surprised though that seems like but I saw the second one and it was it was good

But huh, you know. I enjoyed it. I never saw the second one

All right, well we've embarrassed ourselves wrong way. I'm live television on the internet

Yes, well, it's like right now. I just

Well, I've just embarrassed myself twice because I misspoke

But that's why we do this you know no takes. Yeah, I'm kristen Brolin unscripted alright. Let's get into our

Let's see if we're correct able to predict anyone else all right this one was tired

Just guess what someone hasn't seen this that's difficult to do. Yeah, what we're challenged. Let's see if we go

Alright, this is the big reveal

Livan, we're trying to guess each other's okay?

I guess five uh-huh and they're there long shots obviously all these are long shots you don't guess the

Staples that someone's missing and you already answered one question I guess it's a wonderful life you seen ah

Have you seen?

Titanic I have I saw in theatres big boobies and all I know I saw my dad. It was super bitter

Yeah um

You seen caddyshack. I have okay

Let's see if I got anyway this one is my my thing my biggest cheat I've seen apocalypse now

Actually, that's a good guess because I have not all right. Yeah

Yeah, I know. I need to see it. But yeah, that's another one dose like kind of like the godfather

I feel like when we film classics that yeah, everybody should see Mm-hmm

Have you seen I put an animated movie on here?

I know this is there's no way you haven't see this being a beast. Oh. Yeah, I have definitely

over and over

Disney guy absolutely lay it on me. Let's see what you got all right. This is like further embarrassing yeah

Okay, have you seen training days? Yes, okay? Train days very good all right

Another Denzel one have you ever seen he got game? I've not really not seen yet. Oh, it was a good movie

Okay, I don't know where I pulled that out of my environment. You know. I just was like

I don't know what to guess. I went with a couple comedies now. Okay. Have you seen the jerk yes?

I have seen good good as you I was gonna say I think I've seen pretty much everything

Steve Martin's yeah. Yeah as well as you should yes, of course. I just wanted to make sure yeah, have you ever seen?

Coming to America

really not

You know I missed out on a lot of those

Murphy eighties movies, they're good

I know

They're actually I think I think I've heard they're remaking it or at least I think I think it's gonna be a different cast or

Sun, okay

I don't know exactly but maybe he's doing yeah, I don't know check out the on the old interwebs. Yes

but that's what I've heard, but I suppose you guys can fact check me all right and

The final have you ever seen knocked up yourself good

Because that was a good one. That was a really funny movie. Yeah, I was like

I wonder if you've seen that one because you know some of those you know seth Rogen movies. He's done

So many is I think I saw one like Fx or something so yeah, I didn't see the edited version

Yeah, I've seen it on TV. I know okay. I think it was like one of those like sort of edited

You know because like Fx sometimes they have some swearing and jack late at night, but I don't think it was the fool

they're not dropping F-bombs on Fx, so

One movie that didn't make it to my list even though

I'm not seeing it, but I feel like it's kind of a pop culture staple that I should have seen is clueless clueless

Have you seen clueless I have seen clueless. It's been a long time so yeah, because it's such a movie of its time

Yeah, right, and you know

Our Kansas City great Paul rudd that's where he got a big break

Yes, we got Paul rudd, and I mean it's such an such a 90s movies

Yeah

And I feel like that's why I'd ever really back went back and watched it because I feel like I was maybe a little young

for it

it was

Like guys seeing it was a really thing it was more a girl movie and by the time I was seeing it for the pretty

Girls yes, I mean there were very pretty girls

I'm not having that but I feel like by the time I would have gotten around to recognizing there was a good movie

I won't like it was too

Dated at that point because it's such like a 90s time capsule so yeah clueless was mine

That almost made the list, but I wanted a couple more

timeless movies instead yeah

So and I threw some comedies in there too because to me the comedies are one of my favorite genres

I mean just yeah, but

You know the one that didn't make my list that he said was apocalypse now. Which was a great. Yes

I have never seen the full things you have on your list like almost like that one day

That was my that was my writer on okay? Yeah, so you're right on the money

All right, well those did you guys guess ours?

Yeah, let us know if you guessed stars or let us know if you got it

I want to know how you're like, especially like film geeks cuz doll yeah weird film nerds. Oh boy be nerds were everything nerds

Yeah, and we haven't seen these I wanna know there's some big-time nerds

I don't know there's some big-time nerds

I've maybe we're missing like significant chunks of Pop culture movie kind of those movie greats

War Vet Decides To Take Own Life, But When Having His Last Cigarette He Heard A Noise

In The Bushes.

When Josh Marino returned home from serving in a war ridden country, like many, he found

it difficult to adjust to normal life.

After serving in the military for many years he suffered both mental and physical trauma,

including PTSD.

After struggling to adjust, he decided to take his life as he couldn't cope with the

tormenting memories of his days serving in the military.

One night, he decided it was time and went outside to smoke his last cigarette before

he ended his life.

As he sat in the rain, deeply depressed, he heard a noise from the bushes.

As he listened closely, he then heard it again before a tiny kitten slowly wandered out from

the bush.

"He just walked up and started rubbing up against my leg and let me pet him, I broke

down crying, burst into tears.

Maybe he knew there was something I couldn't quite handle."

After that moment, something changed and Josh began to feed the kitten everyday and slowly

started to forget the troubles from his past life.

But one day the kitten didn't show up, and it made him realise the impact the cat, which

he named 'scout' had on his life.

After weeks of not seeing the kitten again, Josh and his girlfriend decided to head to

a local animal shelter to find a cat to adopt.

When he arrived, there was one face amongst the many kittens that he recognised; it was

Scout.

"All of a sudden a little black and white paw shoots out from a crate and starts smacking

me in my left arm," he said.

"I looked inside, it is the same little black and white cat.

I opened up that cage, and I pulled him out, and I held him tight."

Of course Josh adopted him and as you can imagine, the two are now inseparable.

Since the adoption, day by day, Josh is getting over his traumatic past experience and is

learning to deal with the issues he's faced in life.

Barcelona match to go ahead – but fans are BANNED amid violence in city

GAME: Barcas game is now on despite earlier reports it had been called off.

Cops fired rubber bullets and used batons today in a desperate bid to stop riots breaking out during the illegal votes. So far at least 337 people have been left injured in the city.

The referendum is banned under Spanish law leading to officers storming voting stations. Spanish media reported that the La Liga game between Barca and Las Palmas had been called off but it has since emerged it will go ahead behind closed doors.

Barca said in a statement: FC Barcelona condemns the events which take place in many parts of Catalonia today in order to prevent its citizens exercising their democratic right to free expression.

Given the exceptional nature of events, the Board of Directors have decided that the FC Barcelona first team game against Las Palmas will be played behind closed doors following the Professional Football Leagues refusal to postpone the game. The side has taken to the pitch wearing its special dark red, blue and yellow kit resembling the colours of the Catalan flag.

Earlier today Spanish Deputy Prime Minister Soraya Saenz de Santamaria praised the police in preventing votes going ahead. She said: They have compiled with the orders of justice. They have acted with professionalism and in a proportionate way.

They have always sought to protect rights and liberties. But Catalan regional President, Carles Puigdemont, accused Spanish authorities of using unjustified, disproportionate and irresponsible violence in a crackdown on the referendum.

He said: The unjustified, disproportionate and irresponsible violence of the Spanish state today today has not only failed to stop Catalans' desire to vote… but has helped to clarify all the doubts we had to resolve today..

Terry Collins Will Stay With the Mets, but Not as Manager - Duration: 8:19.

Terry Collins Will Stay With the Mets, but Not as Manager

PHILADELPHIA — The long road to the Mets' 2018 season began in earnest on Sunday afternoon, the final day of their nightmarish 2017 campaign.

Before the start of an 11-0 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies, Mets Manager Terry Collins gathered the team to share what he would announce to reporters after the game.

After seven years at the helm, Collins will not return next season as the Mets' manager.

Instead, with his contract up and with the understanding that the team wanted a new voice, Collins will move into a new front-office position that has yet to be specified.

"It's been a blast, but it's time," said Collins, who thanked Fred Wilpon, the Mets' owner, and Sandy Alderson, the general manager, for giving him another shot at managing in 2011 after his unsuccessful stints in Houston and Anaheim.

Managers and their messages tend to have a shelf life, and for Collins, seven seasons — which made him the longest-tenured manager in team history — was as far as the Mets wanted to take it.

At 68, he was the oldest manager in the major leagues. "This was in his best interest, but just as importantly, he was thinking about the organization," Alderson said. "I agreed with him. I thought this was a time for change."  .

Despite saying over previous weeks that he wanted to keep working, Collins took a different tone on Sunday.

"There was a time this summer where I said, 'I'm not sure I can keep doing this,'" Collins said, his eyes welling up. "I care about the team, and it was getting tough.

They kept falling down, and so did I." Alderson said Collins brought up the possibility of stepping aside as manager in mid-September. They talked about it again, and Alderson said Collins made his decision this weekend in Philadelphia.

"Change is difficult, but it comes with baseball," Alderson said. "Terry is a baseball man. He will be until the day he dies. The fact that he is leaving this job won't change that.

He will continue to be an asset to the organization." Had he been offered another contract to stay as manager, Collins said he would not have accepted it. "I don't know if I had it in me right now," Collins said.

But right now, I'm going to go get some rest and figure out how to help down the road someplace." Collins posted a 551-583 record as the Mets' manager, leading the team to two postseason berths and, for the most part, establishing himself as an accessible personality who did not hide his emotions while on the job.

"His tenure corresponds with what I hope is the rebirth of the Mets organization," Alderson said.

"I think he deserves a lot of credit for that." In recent days, several published reports, citing unnamed players and team officials, said that Collins had become estranged from his own front office and clubhouse as the 2017 season fell apart and that were it not for Wilpon, he might have been dismissed before now.

The reports left the impression that Collins was under a cloud of anonymous criticism as he headed into what were expected to be his final days as the manager. That impression, in turn, angered Alderson.

After Sunday's game, Alderson made it clear that he still wanted Collins to stick around — albeit in a different job.

But the move means the Mets, among the many decisions they face this off-season, will have to find replacements for Collins and potentially some of his coaches.

When Collins took over as manager, for the 2011 season, the team was rebuilding and dealing with its entanglement in the Bernard L.

Collins was originally thought to be a caretaker who would be replaced once the team returned to contention. But he remained even after the Mets turned around.

He led a pennant-winning team in 2015 and a wild-card team in 2016, only the second time in Mets history that the club made consecutive playoff appearances. "It's been a tremendous run," Collins said.

Collins could be a clumsy tactician and fiery boss. But he also brought a wealth of experience to the job, thanks to a lifetime in baseball from the minor leagues on up.

"I'm hurting for him knowing that this is a huge part of him and being in the Mets family was really important for him," Mets starter Noah Syndergaard said, adding that he hoped the longtime pitching coach Dan Warthen would remain.

Alderson, who will be tasked with finding a new manager along with many other off-season decisions, remains unsigned for next season but reiterated on Sunday that he expected to be back.

"I personally take a lot of responsibility for unmet expectations," Alderson said.

"I'm happy to have the opportunity to try and correct that." He has an imperfect roster that, for the moment, is much younger, much less experienced and much cheaper than it was before he unloaded a number of veteran players midseason.

And about $65 million in payroll will be coming off the opening day payroll, which will give Alderson financial flexibility, if the Mets choose to use it.

As for what the Mets will look for in a new manager, they may want someone who understands analytics, is more adept at running a bullpen and is a strong communicator.

Alderson said that managerial experience was a positive but that other factors, such as being versed in modern baseball trends, would be weighed. "Leadership is the most critical part of the manager's resume," Alderson said.

Among the managerial candidates the Mets might consider are Kevin Long, their popular hitting coach; Joe McEwing, a former Met who is a coach with the Chicago White Sox; Bob Geren, the Mets' former bench coach, who holds the same position with the Los Angeles Dodgers; Chip Hale, a former Arizona Diamondbacks manager; Robin Ventura, a former White Sox manager and a popular Mets player a decade and a half ago; and Alex Cora, another former Met who is the bench coach in Houston.

Collins will still be involved with the Mets, too, but just not the front-and-center way he was for the last seven years. .

Life Perspective | 15 TGIF Stars Who Tried To Revive Their Careers, But Failed | Part1 - Duration: 9:19.

15 TGIF Stars Who Tried To Revive Their Careers, But Failed.

The 1990s was a generation that boasted some of the greatest television sitcoms of all

time, and many feel that the quality of television shows has declined since the end of the decade.

Networks were in heavy competition with each other, producing shows that resonated with

fans and achieved critical acclaim.

This fierce competition led to an incredible output of shows that remain cherished over

two decades since they aired on television.

Among the television slots that fans loved the most, TGIF was one of the pillars of 1990s

television, and the list of hit shows that appeared on TGIF is nearly unrivaled by other

networks during the decade.

If you're old enough to remember tuning into TGIF during the '90s, then you remember

the anticipation that each Friday night brought, promising to deliver the best entertainment

on television.

The shows were family friendly, and while that term may seem bad, TGIF made sure to

pump out high-quality shows that everyone was able to enjoy.

Many of the actors that appeared on the TGIF lineup became celebrities during the decade,

and many expected to see their faces for years to come.

After all, who wants to live in a world where Urkel isn't the planet's biggest star?

Sadly, these 15 performers found their success on TGIF, and despite their attempts to break

it big in the industry, they'll be best known for their performances in the 1990s.

Get ready to take a stroll down memory lane because these 15 names are going to make you

dust off some old VHS tapes.

1.

Sasha Mitchell.

Unlike most Hollywood tough guys who only pretend to be skilled in various forms of

martial arts, actor Sasha Mitchell is a legitimate black belter in Taekwondo, though you would've

never known this judging by his character in Step by Step.

He was cast as the character Cody on the show, and he appeared in 114 episodes of the series.

Cody was a guy who was an airhead with a laid-back demeanor, hardly giving the impression that

he was capable of disarming you at a moment's notice.

After being cast on the series, Sasha Mitchell appeared in several installments of the Kickboxer

franchise, playing the character David Sloane.

Mitchell has continued acting through the years, but his roles are very few and far

between.

His last television appearance came in 2005, while his 2017 film appearance marked the

first time he was on the big screen in 14 years.

2.

Christine Lakin.

As a member of the other family to be featured on Step by Step, actress Christine Lakin portrayed

the character Alicia Lambert for 160 episodes.

Her character was the middle, tomboy sister who preferred going by the name "Al."

She found herself being quite the opposite of her older sisters, and she was more inclined

to roughhouse with the guys than go shopping with the girls.

Al was a very popular character on the show, and Christine Lakin became a popular name

thanks to her role on the series.

Unlike most child stars who slowly fizzle after their hit show is canceled, Christine

Lakin has remained insanely busy since Step by Step shut down production.

Her most recent role came in the comedy series Hollywood Darlings, a show centered around

former child stars from her generation.

So far, the show has only aired 8 episodes, and Lakin has yet to become as popular as

she was in the 1990s.

3.

Staci Keanan.

Unlike other shows that took place in the Bay Area during the 1990s, the series Step

by Step chose to be featured in a Wisconsin town.

Despite comparisons to other shows on the air during the time, Step by Step was able

to stand on its own, and it proved to be a success.

The story of having two families blend together had been done in the past, but this modernized

version resonated with fans.

Staci Keanan starred as the character Dana Foster on the series, and she appeared in

159 episodes of Step by Step from 1991 to 1998.

While on Step by Step, she made an appearance on Boy Meets World in 1996.

She continued to act sparingly throughout the years, though she has very few projects

of note.

One hit television show hardly guarantees to sustain success in the entertainment industry,

and Keanan is a perfect example of this.

Despite appearing on two hit shows, her success was limited to the 1990s.

4.

Jenna Leigh Green.

Much like her former co-star Beth Broderick, Jenna Leigh Green has yet to find the same

level of success that she had when she appeared on Sabrina the Teenage Witch.

She appeared in 75 credited episodes during the show's first three seasons, but in reality,

she only made appearances in 46 episodes.

Green had only been in the entertainment industry for two short years before landing the role

of Libby Chessler, and this proved to be a massive opportunity for her.

She absolutely nailed the role, but the success of the series did very little to help her

throughout her career.

Green found herself being featured in a number of successful projects, but her appearances

were few and far between, and each role that she took on was nothing more than a one-off

character.

Most recently, she appeared in an episode of the series Quantico as the character Emily

Meyers.

5.

Beth Broderick.

Running from 1996 to 2003, Sabrina the Teenage Witch was one of the most popular shows of

the 1990s, and it even spawned several television films.

Even now, Sabrina the Teenage Witch boasts a massive cult following, which is a testament

to the writing and the acting throughout the series.

Beth Broderick starred in the role of Zelda Spellman on the series, and she appeared as

that character for 141 episodes.

Despite the massive success that the show achieved, this ended up being the biggest

project that Beth Broderick took part in during her career.

She had already been in the entertainment industry for nine years before landing the

role of Zelda Spellman, and she continues acting to this very day.

Ever since Sabrina the Teenage Witch ended its run, Broderick has appeared in other projects

such as Lost, ER, and Leverage.

Her roles in these projects all come as minor characters, and Sabrina the Teenage Witch

still remains her biggest project to date.

6.

Rachel Blanchard.

Does anyone out there remember that Clueless ended up becoming a television series?

That's right — the smash hit film that spawned some of the most irritating catchphrases

of the 1990s ended up becoming a television show that debuted on the TGIF lineup.

It goes without saying that Clueless wasn't a memorable show, but it did last for a surprising

amount of time on television.

The show ended up lasting 62 episodes throughout 3 seasons, and Rachel Blanchard was the anchor

of the series.

She had appeared in plenty of other projects before her time on Clueless, and had the show

been a huge success, Blanchard could've become a major star.

The show was a moderate success, and even though Blanchard ended up finding work throughout

the years, she never became the star that the show had set her up to be.

In recent years, Blanchard landed a lead role on the comedy series You Me Her, so there's

still time for her to claim a spot at the top of television acting.

7.

Mark Curry.

The 1990s had a weird fascination with living in the Bay Area, and while the show Full House

took place in San Francisco, the hit comedy series Hangin' with Mr. Cooper took place

across the Bay Bridge in Oakland, California.

Hangin' with Mr. Cooper centered around the ex-basketball player who became a teacher,

and it was one of the funniest shows during his time in the 1990s.

Hangin' with Mr. Cooper ran from 1992 to 1997, and it aired a total of 101 episodes

over the course of 5 seasons.

Mark Curry played the lead character in the series, and it was the biggest success he

found in his career.

He has continued to work over the years, and his biggest success came on the Nick At Nite

series See Dad Run.

While he'll be best remembered for the series Hangin' with Mr. Cooper, anyone who's

heard his stand-up comedy will tell you that he's hilarious.

Ryan Destiny 'devastated' to lose 'Empire' role, but thrilled with 'Star' part - Duration: 4:43.

Ryan Destiny 'devastated' to lose 'Empire' role, but thrilled with 'Star' part

Ryan Destiny is back as Alexandra Crane on Season 2 of "Star," Fox's drama about a girl group trying to make it despite overwhelming odds.

Destiny, 22, is no stranger to the music scene, having first entered the business as part of Detroit-area R&B group Love DollHouse, who were signed to Russell Simmon's All Def label (the group disbanded in 2015).

And, along with her singing, she says she's been acting since she was 12 years old.

"Singing came first for me, and, naturally, I was dramatic," Destiny says. "I would watch a lot of Disney movies and I would act out every single line of every character and sing every song.

I had originally gotten a part on 'Empire' to play Tianna, but because of previous [contractual commitments] it didn't go through," she says. "I was devastated, because when ['Empire'] came out and broke all those [ratings] records, it hurt.

That was supposed to be me, but it was all in God's timing. "Serayah McNeill was definitely the perfect person for that role.

On this season of "Star" — executive-produced by Lee Daniels and co-starring Jude Demorest, Brittany O'Grady, Queen Latifah and Benjamin Bratt — Alexandra will be dealing with her rollercoaster relationship with Derek (Quincy Brown) and with her mother, Rose (Naomi Campbell).

"You can expect a lot of growth from all the characters," Destiny says. "I can't say too much about [Alexandra's] pregnancy but you will definitely see how it takes a toll on her, mentally.

Her relationship with Derek … gets tested a lot this season. I want to sing, dance and act. So the fact that I am doing a show that's incorporating everything I love, I just have fun with it..

"I think Alexandra is more reckless now because of how much she's mentally going through — she's frustrated with a lot of things and she gets a little rowdy.

Destiny says that Alexandra's on-screen frustration mirrors her real life in many ways. "I had times where I was discouraged, especially in high school," she says.

"I started realizing that the color I am was not really appreciated in society, film, music and in the world in general. I did not like myself.

I didn't feel beautiful and I wasn't loving myself like I should [have been] at the time.

"But I wasn't the only one going through that," she says. "I felt like I had to come into this industry with a bigger purpose — and I knew it was not just about me.".

Her turning point came in 2011, when she watched the Oprah Winfrey documentary "Dark Girls. "I didn't realize how much it was affecting the rest of the world," she says.

"Even in my group of friends I was the only dark one, and hearing that 'You're pretty for a dark-skinned girl' and taking that as a compliment … everything was so screwed up in my head.

Just watching that documentary made me cry.". But Destiny says she's now in a much better place.

"I want to sing, dance and act. So the fact that I am doing a show that's incorporating everything I love, I just have fun with it," she says. "You can get tired mentally but physically I'm always ready to go.

"It doesn't feel like work.

Outlander Could Not Be Moving Any Faster, But We're Not Sure We Mind - Duration: 9:20.

Outlander Could Not Be Moving Any Faster, But We're Not Sure We Mind

Theres something about modern music played over period scenes thats just so.exhilarating? Wonderfully alarming?  Not sure what the word is, but we did love how tonights episode of Outlander ended with a Marshall and Sarah cover of A Hard Rains A-Gonna Fall.  Bob Dylan originally released the song in 1963, which means its perfectly reasonable for it to have been playing as Claire and Brianna packed up and headed back to the U.S.

(even if this cover actually came out in 2012), but it was a little more jarring to hear it as Jamie, with tears in his (and our) eyes, bid farewell to his son and headed  back to Scotland as a free man in the 1760s.

But jarring in a good way, because we then googled the song and have now been listening to it on repeat.  Tonights episode, Of Lost Things brought us ever so closer to Jamie and Claire inevitably reuniting as we finally caught up to where Claire, Brianna, and Roger were in the season two finale on their quest to find Jamie.

Meanwhile, Jamie was dealing with his new life as a groom for a wealthy family. .

It would have gone fine if it werent for the familys 17 year-old daughter Geneva who took a liking to Jamie (because who doesnt?) and decided she was going to have sex with him before her arranged marriage to the much older Lord Ellesmere.

Jamie tried to decline, but she kinda sorta blackmailed him into doing it, and thus Jamie and Geneva had some sex (in a scene very much.softened.from the book).  Imagine Jamies surprise when, several months later, Geneva came back for a visit with a very large bump and a bit of a smirk on her face.

A few months after that, Jamie was called in the middle of the night to get the horses ready, because Geneva was in labor and not doing well.  .

The baby was fine, but Geneva ended up bleeding so much that she died, and Lord Ellesmere was pissed because he was pretty sure he couldnt have gotten Geneva pregnant in the first place.

He was about to even shoot the baby, until Jamie shot him, and Genevas mother was offering Jamie the chance to go home but he wanted to stay to see the baby who was definitely not his son or anything grow up.

All of a sudden, it was like seven years later, and everyone was whispering that little Willie, Lord of Ellesmere, was spending so much time with the groom that he was starting to look like the groom, and thus it was time for Jamie to leave before more people got suspicious.

Jamie even heartbreakingly offered himself to John Grey in exchange for him taking care of Willie.

Grey declined the offer but agreed to help, and all of that happened in a matter of minutes to the point where we were exhausted when we should have been dealing with all that heartbreak.

And that was only one half of the story.

In Scotland, 200 years later, Claire, Roger, and Brianna have been desperately searching prison records and trying to track Jamie after Culloden. The closer they get, the more they individually start to freak out a little bit.

Claire has a job and a life and a daughter shes finally feeling closer to, and Brianna has had an entire life with the guy she thought was her dad, and now shes finally getting to know her mom better and her moms thinking of leaving her for the past.

And then Roger knows that when they find Jamie, Claire and Brianna (or mostly Brianna) probably wont need to live in his house anymore.

So everybody wants to find Jamie but also kind of doesnt want to find Jamie.  In the end, Claire and Brianna decided theyd searched enough, and it was time to go back to the U.S. .

The two stories together were kind of strange.

Jamies spanned a decade while Claires was just a few weeks or so, and they just didnt quite feel like they belonged in the same episode, but thats just kind of an inherent problem for this part of the season.

The show has to get both Jamie and Claire to the same place before their inevitable reunion, and Claires 20 years passed slightly less eventfully than Jamies did (but only slightly).  With the way Voyager was written, it makes sense that either they had to divide it into two with the reunion as the season finale, or do it as one and just really have to sail through much of the story (pun for the back half of the season not intended).

And while this is all probably for the best and it probably would have been tedious to have this first half as an entire season, it would have been nice to spend more time with some of these characters, and to not feel quite so rushed.  Scroll down to for scoop on this season so far! .

Episode 4: Brianna While Brianna doesnt get to be the protagonist in very many scenes in the book, she gets some time here to start to dissect how she feels about whats going on—the news about her father, the reality that they may find her real father, and the fact that she may lose her mother to him forever.

Well see a lot more of Brianna in episode five, and Davis says this is a perspective that the writers didnt want to overlook. Brianna and Claire have always had a tough relationship.

Its certainly loving, but it seems like Claire has always held Brianna kind of at arms length.

And Briannas always kind of wondered why and has always been closer to Frank, and to find out the reason for that is because your father was somebody else, and maybe every time your mother looks at you she thinks about your real father and that is a very complicated relationship, she says.

To then question your own identity and what that all means was important to us, because if it was glossed over in the books, we felt that was something that was so interesting to portray and such an interesting character beat for that character, to see those emotions. Episode 2: Claire and Frank Nobodys a huge fan of Frank Randall, but you have to admit that you kinda feel bad for him this season.

Poor guy finally found his wife after shes been missing for three years, and shes pregnant with the baby of a man from the 1700s, who shes desperately in love with.

That sucks!  There are more scenes in the show featuring Claire and Frank than there were in the book (at least in this particular book), both in this episode and in the episodes to come.  Book Frank is a little different than TV show Frank, EP Maril Davis explained to us.

And youre never going to root for Claire to stay with Frank, you just arent. I mean as soon as she meets Jamie, its like Franks off the table.

But the thing from the books that we really enjoyed and wanted to continue in the show is that Frank was an outstanding father to Brianna. And you know, Claire makes the ultimate sacrifice to stay with Frank for her daughter.

I think if she had come back and she wasnt pregnant, I dont think she and Frank would ever have been together or stayed together, but I think she knows that its a certain time and place and Brianna needs a father, and if it cant be Jamie, she wants Brianna to have a loving man in her life, and Frank, for me, is one of the tragic figures of Outlander because he loves Claire desperately, but that love is not reciprocated.  The Journey Had to Be Earned Jamie and Claire are apart for now, and while many of us are going to be waiting with bated breath for their reunion, dont discount the stories that need to be told before they find their way back to each other.

Executive producer Maril Davis says their separation was a major concern going into season three, but the writers quickly found that theres a lot of excellent story to be found in their separate journeys.  I think going into it you do worry that these two people who are the backbone of our show not being together, thats what makes this show very special, is their relationship, she told us.

But quite honestly, while we do all prefer having them together, I do think we were pleasantly surprised how well the stories worked on their own, because each have such strong stories, and the reason it works is that they have such a longing for each other.

And theres a despair there. Theres a hole missing because theyve lost the loves their lives.

So I think thats actually what makes Claires story with Frank so interesting, because its like theres a ghost in the room, and then also for Jamie, hes like a walking ghost himself, because its almost like hes missing an arm or leg, because he doesnt have the person who makes him whole.

So we just felt like those stories, while at first we were concerned with how that would be, I think were all pleasantly surprised and thrilled about how well this turned out.  The journey had to be earned, she continued.

They are separated, and then you feel like if its a chapter before theyre together again, youre not living their lives with them separated.

Even as a book reader, I think while you want them desperately to be back together, you appreciate that time thats apart because it makes their reunion all that much sweeter.    Article continues below Changes Are Coming While this season follows the third book in the series, Voyager, there are going to be a lot of changes from book to screen—some minor, some major.

But theyre all in service of making the show as good as possible.  Were never going to be able to make the books exactly as they are, Davis explained.

Theres so much detail in the books, and theres certain things weve always said that read well but sometimes dont translate well to screen.

So for us the perfect balance is keeping all the beats of the book and keeping the spine, but also infusing into it things that we feel are interesting or want to see, or maybe filling in the gaps in certain places. Jamies story is laid out very well, and with specific tentpole moments and Claires story was a little more difficult, because not all of her story with Frank is told in this book, so we did kind of have to add and just wanted Jamie and Claire to be on a similar emotional journey over those 20 years that theyre apart.  Trust us, that journeys going to be good.  Episode 1: The Battle Forget watching the Battle of Culloden.

Thanks to tonights opening scenes, we were in that battle.  Its wonderful, it places you in the action, and obviously its a memory of Jamies, but hes sort of coming to and remembering the moments that happened there, and of course he meets Black Jack Randall in the midst of the melee and they have this great sort of finishing chapter to their relationship, Sam Heughan told us of the scenes, which he says took a couple of weeks to film.  Doing it in flashback like that gives it a slightly surreal, unworldly kind of atmosphere to it, Tobias Menzies added.

Its kind of a more interesting way of doing it than just straight on, kind of battle sequence.  Episode 1: Briannas Birth Watching that jerk of a doctor force Claire to be knocked out for the birth was infuriating, but it was historically accurate.

Up until the late 40s, early 50s, childbirth was mostly done with midwives and it was very much a female thing, and it was only in the 50s that it became much more medical, and it started being treated as some sort of an operation, Caitriona Balfe told us.

So women, they were sort of taken out of the process completely. They were told to just sort of lie there, shut up, and do what theyre told.

So it was really interesting to have Claire—obviously shes coming to it having already lost a child, and she had a lot of nerves about it. She was worried about it.

So to have this man sort of come in and dismiss any concerns she might have or any knowledge that she might have, or desires.it was pretty frustrating for her.  Stay tuned for more scoop on season three!    Article continues below.

Outlander airs Sundays at 8 p.m.
