How to Plan, Shoot and Edit Star Trails and Milky Way Photography! - Duration: 15:09.

yo Hows it going guys my name is Adam and today I'm gonna be teaching you guys how

to shoot plan an edit star trail Milky Way photography and this is gonna be a

good one

you ever just see these supercool photos online of the stars trailing or the

Milky Way and you're like damn I wish I could get a photo like that you probably

need a really expensive camera all this gear I'm gonna tell you guys right now

right here today it's actually not that complicated it's super easy you'll just

need a few things first thing you'll need is a camera and

a camera that can take 30 second exposure and has bulb mode and the

second thing you'll need is an intervalometer and intervalometer it's

just like your remote you plug into the side of your camera can leave the

shutter open for however long you want see whenever you switch your camera to

bulb mode bulb mode is basically as long as you keep your finger on the shutter

the shutter will stay open and then when you take your finger off the shutter the

shutter closes you don't understand for are just keeping a finger on the shutter

so get yourself a camera remote plug it in and then flick it over and then

whenever your exposure is complete like a back over and that will clue your

shutter but here's the thing I do whenever I do a long exposure my camera

has this end both function whenever I switch it to bulb mode I don't actually

need an intervalometer because my camera has a touch screen I just flick it to

bulb mode flick on light view and to tap the screen ever so gently so the camera

doesn't move that will start my exposure so I don't have to keep my finger on the

shutter and then whenever my desired time is up I just tap the screen really

gently again and then boom my long exposures done so with a canon 80-day

you're on a camera with a touchscreen this might work for you you want a

better place that's completely dark new like pollution whenever I took this

photo right here I was at place in Ireland cold and port super dark super

cool just complete darkness but this little torch I'm hold until they soo

dark it's unbelievable I'm gonna take some nighttime shot so this camera long

exposures you know what I'm saying then you want to determine how your photos

gonna look that photo was took for 45 minutes I left the camera the shutter

open 45 minutes points straight up into the sky whenever I close the shutter

I took the camera and all there 45 minutes to actually process that image

so longer you keep your shutter open the longer it will take a camera to process

that I mean go for this one photo alone it took me an hour and a half plus just

for the photo to process which is insane so to get this particular photo right

here this is a 30 second exposure 30 seconds to take the photo 30 seconds

for your camera to process it not really that long just a minute but they just

look stunning that's unbelievable with this photo here I was standing beside

that structure with a torch behind and a train in it 3 as it was doing left a

ten-second timer on the camera ran out behind the structure and then just

started training the torch behind that so I got that lovely light blue and

behind it and then the milky way directly

but you see whenever you take the photos that doesn't look as vibrant in real

life as the photos are because this camera can take in a lot more light than

your eyes can but I think the best way to shoot is whenever you can see the

stars with your own eyes that's when the camera is gonna pick

them up if there's too much light too much light pollution if you're in a city

like me dry far away get out of the place just somewhere where it's

completely dark and your photo should be sweet I'm gonna move into the add it in

part right now you can use Photoshop or Lightroom in this tutorial I'm going to

show you guys Photoshop let's get into this okay guys so here right now and

Photoshop this is what we're gonna be working with Photoshop you can use

Lightroom that doesn't really matter to me whatever you find best to edit your

photo but there is one thing I want to emphasize so so much see whenever you're

shooting a photo any photo in my opinion always always always if your camera has

the function to shoot it in raw raw saves a lot of information about the

photo saves all the highlights all the darks all the exposure settings the

contrast settings you can do so much more with raw then you camp the JPEG to

me if I shot in the JPEG I would just delete the photo and shoot again and raw

because a JPEG just doesn't hold enough information from a shoot and raw saves a

lot more information about the photo shoot when I'm talking about so I've got

three photos I'm gonna be showing you guys how to add it right now I've got

this eight-minute exposure one and second one that was a done report that

was the other day left that exposing for 30 seconds and then this last one was a

45-minute one you can't really see much in it right now because it's super

exposed but whenever I bring it into Camera Raw you'll see what I'm talking

about so right click on your photo open with Adobe Photoshop CC 2017 now this is

gonna bring up all these raw function you can actually add it so watching this

it's unbelievable so over here on the right tab here as you can see this is

all the stuff we have to tweak with we're gonna start with I like to start

with the highlights highlights are the stars are that haziness you can tweak

you all out if you need to we're gonna start with the highlights

just fold them down a little but it what's going on mmm look okay that's

flaking the whole way up see what's happened there's a lot of haziness in

the sky here so I'm gonna pull them the whole way down I'll show you guys how to

pull like just the stars in a moment I'm gonna work with four grain right now as

you can see down here at the bottom it's underexposed up of these trees

underexposed very dark these are the shadows of the photos so we're here as

you can see if you pull these down the shadows go down pull these up boom the

shadows go up and it just fixes out that you know under exposure you don't wanna

have to take two photos and marriage it's just so much easier this way and so

much better so I'm gonna pull up the shadows but I'm gonna zoom in here just

so you guys can see the grain on the photo as you pull up the shadows of my

pulley shadows down you can see you can't really see any of the grain but

when you push it to the limits a lot of grain is introduced here so I'm gonna

show you guys how to sort with the grain boom into the photo like I've done here

this just tab up at the top detail tab there's sharpening and there's luminance

you want to get into the luminance the noise reduction tab and then just turn

it up a little bit that will fix it a little bit and I look what happens if I

do it too much if I put the luminance right the whole way up and look like a

scene out of some sort of doesn t follow um it looks all ice creamy clay dough

look it you don't want to go too crazy with the luminance I'm just gonna put

off a little tiny but to take away a lot of that rain and then after that I like

to flick the color have the whole way off I'm gonna go back to this normal tab

here and let's see what happens if we add a little book contrast whoa okay see

it's crushing all and blacks at the same time so you can pull up the blacks tab

okay we're getting somewhere no guys this is actually looking pretty nice see

before and after it's it's starting to come to life so let's pull out the stars

we're gonna zoom into the star so we can see exactly what we're working with here

we're gonna go to the tone curve tab at the top the second one over and the

highlights are fine don't do much to them they kind of they

can of tweak them up a little bit something to push down the whole way up

anyways and this lights one you need to be careful this you do too much you'll

rack the photo and off and it's perfect so I'm gonna tweak this off just a

little let's look at okay it's looking okay dolly but there we go see how much

I just brought out the stars compared to when it's down here you see what I'm

saying the Stars just right over to the photo boom damn that looks freaking

amazing you know saying guys now whenever I do take a photo and bring it

into raw there's a lot of the photo that's messing so if you go through this

crop tool the top corner here and then just spread these out you'll get a lot

more than photo and then you can fix your composition later and Photoshop I

like to just take everything and it's we can afterwards so this is actually

looking pretty nice I'm gonna add a little tiny bit of D haze Knights to D

haze is one of my favorite functions in Camera Raw honestly it is unbelievable

what I can do if you like it up too much pulls out so much color what be hey that

find does is it takes us around and black pixels and fells in with black the

other ones around them so I don't want to do too much because it's just wrecked

my for grind here so I'm gonna Punk died looking okay so I'm gonna head open

imagine I this is gonna open it in Photoshop where you can tweak it just a

little bit more so what I'm gonna do to this photo is the first thing I'm gonna

do as we want to go to over here this is the Dodge tool

I love this tool you can just sweep this across your photograph the exposure to

the lab in here look what happened so I put it 200 it really lightens your

photos you can see that's why I'm at at 11% because I didn't want to wreck in

the photo too much I just want to lighten certain areas just to bring them

up a little bit and then the opposite of the Dodge tool is the burn till you just

wipe that on I put this right up to your hunger just to show you guys this burns

the image it really it just it can take it darkens parts of the photo so if I

wanted to darken these leaves I could do that before drying I could do that but

I'm not gonna do that I'm just showing you guys what these tools do if you need

to lighten a certain part of your photo so I'm happy with how this looks right

now I'm gonna go to adjustments I'm gonna add one of my locks to this photo

I thank emerald cinema would work nice here boom I like how this looks guys I

think I'm gonna leave it at that if you want you can tweak it more you don't

overwork a photo so I'm gonna leave this photo like that maybe change my

composition just a little bit to the real thirds place here it's gonna leave

the top half and there's a lot of this bottom part doesn't really make sense so

I'm happy with that there we go let's move on to the next

photo whenever I started taking star photos this is what I got most of the

time it looks very dark and I thought how do them people do them really

amazing photos this is how it's done guys I'm gonna show you Camera Raw it's

the way to go so I'm gonna pull the highlights way up

in this circumstance just to see what happens it lightened up a lot of the

stars look at the before and after so I just undo that see how the stars here

it's gonna zoom in so you can see they're very dull you pull the

highlights up just pops them stars like just a little bit do you guys know how

you have popped stars out again you go to the curves pull up the lights just to

laugh the whole way up yep I'm going the whole

way up guys you know I mean every star photo is deferens you have to tweak with

what you feel in the photo so now you're all ready that looks so so much better

but for me it's not enough I'm gonna leave this solo at effect and I know I

don't want to pull up the shadows cuz look what happens if I do that

super granny super overlay so I'm gonna keep it at the silhouette and see what

happens we add a little bit of contrast mmm that's looking nice already know

what I like to do is like to add color to the star photos they don't have to

look realistic it's your photo you can do the hell what you want with your

photos so I'm just gonna crop on crop it a little bit here so we can see more of

the Milky Way this is actually the Milky Way running the whole way through the

photo you leave it like that and let's see here what I'm gonna do isn't gonna

see what happens when I do D hey it's all about see what happens when you do

something looking pretty nice no I wouldn't gonna do see what happens when

I turn up the whites that's too much just looking to you too much there okay

that's okay there I'm gonna add a little bit of Killarney boom clarity pull that

stars a lot so gonna be careful this you don't have too much or look grainy

instead of starry no I want to add color to the sky this is what I like to do

there's this part over here which is called split toning split toning what

that does is you can change the color all of the highlights and you can change

the color all the shadows so what I like to do is boost the saturation the whole

way up so I can see it I'm working with right now they're red I like this guy to

have this little blue tint so I'm gonna put it to blue turn it down just a notch

so it doesn't look too much and then pull the shadows of all the way up this

will change a lot of your image because most of the sky is black and shadowy I'm

gonna give this a little bit of a purple effect and then just pull that down a

little bit and mmm maybe not super maybe light blue you there we go I think that

was pretty nice maybe let's see how far we can go can we put it to green mmm

that's looking nice right now that looks like a frickin galaxy I'm happy with

this you guys can tweak stuff if you want more but I'm just gonna go ahead

open image and now what we're gonna do is bring out the Milky Way this is Milky

Way photography we're talking about right now

honey bring out the Milky Way so it has that really impactful like wow factor

tune as a talk before I showed you guys the Dodge tool this is what we're gonna

use to just bring it up I'm just gonna paint over the Milky Way and make sure

you have it set to highlights because highlights are what the stars

all that I just don't and then just paint over it and this will bring out

the highlights and stars in this particular area it's not cheating it's

just emphasizing what's already there it's over exaggerating it you know

saying just keep painting over this until you're happy with it I'm pretty

happy with this how it looks already it looks freaking cool there we go okay

that looks a lot more galaxy looking no okay no I'm happy with this I'm happy

with this but the color isn't the blues look a little bit too blue to me you

look at article mm what the heck is he doing that's okay they can just make a

new layer ctrl alt shift e this will just stamp everything in top of that

bring it into filter you can open it run it through Camera Raw again here we go

again and I'm just gonna pull down the vibrance just a tad okay I'm happy with

this photo let's move on to the next one okay guys this is the 45-minute exposure

you're probably looking at if you want to Adam there's no information there

it's just white it's it's blown it-it's gone you're not gonna do anything with

that this is what I'm going to show you guys this is what hey I love Ross see if

I pull my exposure darn over here all right it's already falling like the it's

pulling right all that overexposure for me I should have my aperture a lot more

you know higher so does this lovely swirl you can see here the stars

actually swirled the North Star so if you're ever pointed at the sky make sure

the North Star is in the shot and you'll get that swirl with a spiral in the

middle I'm gonna pull the highlights down I'm gonna add a lot of da's because

this is hazy so this will be haze it the haze up and already boom that just fixed

my photo for me it's a little bit underexposed so you can pull the

exposure up a little bit more now my white balance is completely throw it off

here I'm gonna go to auto see what that does you can pull the temperature down a

little bit just to add a little bit more blue into it that's looking nice for me

there beautiful you see the milky way around the 3 in here and everything I

just love taking photos like this but it's looking pretty nice and I and then

maybe if I go to the split toning again put the highlights to blue hold on not

so it's not too much and if the shadows to purple like in the shadows on the

purple there we go so look actually I'll keep it the whole way up that looks ok

like that and I'm gonna try the clarity and see what I can get

mmm that's looking okay flip the lights it's a lot of the same procedure you're

doing just make sure you're careful with it when you're taking the photos but I'm

happy with how this looks frickin amazing no I'm gonna do

something cool this photo because because it was pointing straight up you

still have that nice spiral but if I was pointed of trees I couldn't get that

nice spiral so I'm gonna add on some trees here yeah I'm in Google Images

guys as you know I just typed them trees PNG silhouette and let's give me all

these will see I take this tree right here I like the look of this tree I'm

just gonna drag this onto my desktop okay so we've got a tree here no we need

a horizon just type in horizon PNG silhouette and you have all these oh

damn this one looks pretty cool leave all these trees a couple people to think

man run over there you can you know what possibility to lement list with

photoshop guys so I'm gonna bring this into Photoshop drag it in top my image

let's see what happens okay not too bad gonna bring it darn the whole way to the

bottom I don't want to okay I'm happy with that so whenever you have a photo

like this in Photoshop to get rid of the white parts you just put your Blanton

mode on this instead of using the magic wand tool or trying to mask her own it

put your Blanton mode to linear burn and this should just fix it takes away all

the white parts it's okay that looks pretty nice I'm gonna go up to the tree

PNG this is a PNG image so it shouldn't be much of a deal just put this in here

looks okay I'll place it say right there oh it's okay and then you have your

image guys you can tweak it more if you want but I'm happy with this this looks

pretty nice and that's how you edit shoot and plan star photography let me

Interview: How To Achieve Your Dreams With English | Advanced Conversation - Duration: 29:57.

hey Rene what's up? hey Stefanie I'm good how are you doing? great thanks

awesome well I'm really excited to be doing this interview with you because I

know that your journey of improving your English over the last year has been

incredible you've really improved I've gotten to witness a lot of those

improvements myself because we've been working together for I don't know how

many months has it been like nine months or something like that yeah I guess it

should be like nine months or something it's like a big journey but you know I

have been improving my English in a really awesome way I'm absolutely another person

you're another person that's how you describe it that's awesome so why don't we start there

because in this interview basically what I want to do is I just want to talk to

you about your journey of improving your English like what worked what didn't

work and then how your English has helped you advance in your career and

then of course you know you just went on a trip to the U.S. to a really important

conference so I'd love to talk about that later on in the video so first just

to start us off tell us a little bit about how you learned English and how

you started improving even more over this last year okay so basically you

know as every people I have been learning English or I mean trying to

learn English since I was at a school then in the high school and also in the

university and also I took a course in another Institute here in Ecuador but it

was kind of weird because I was studying I used to be the like the best student

or something like that but I was unable to establish a conversation with

somebody really in English you know then I guess it was all related with my lack of

confidence because my English was not really bad but it's different when you

are just solving a test or something or conjugating verbs and just writing

something it's not the same as real interaction you know absolutely not

because I mean when you're in a test you have like a hole context about where the

test is I mean you have certain topics that you're gonna try in that test but

when you are just talking I mean the other person is just trying to establish

a communication trying to communicate their ideas and you have no

idea what is the next sentence or something so you need to learn how to

listen and how to you know answer questions and establish a good

communication yeah so would you say that a year ago maybe you weren't capable of

having a conversation like we are having right now?

absolutely absolutely I remember that when I started to work in the company

that I am currently working it was kind of weird for me because I had a really

lack of confidence and when I had to talk with somebody else in the United

States it was like a big mess for me I used to be really scared you know

because I was like oh my gosh I would do something wrong here so we actually

before we continue I totally forgot to ask you this but why don't you tell

everyone a little bit about what you do because you mentioned you live in

Ecuador so you're a native Spanish speaker but what is it that you do okay

so as you know I am living here in Ecuator that's a country in South America

so I am native a Spanish speaker and I am currently working for a big company

in States actually our client is from the States but the company is from

London it's headquarters is in London, that's cool, haha, it's in London but the technical lead is in California and the guy that is in charge

of the businesses is located also in Silicon Valley and you're a software

developer yeah I am a software developer we are many several developers here in in

Ecuador actually we have offices here in Quito is the capital of Ecuador and also

in another city that is Loja we are working here from four clients you know

in the States London so when you speak with clients

are you speaking with people in the United States or in London? the most of

the time just in the United States but some co-workers are working with some

people in London so basically a year ago you didn't feel confident speaking with

the clients in the USA but today how do you feel when you speak with them? today

is like just starting a conversation with another people from the same

country you know it's a really big change because when I used to be in

those meetings I used to often ask for the help of somebody else just to listen

and try to understand you know I used to record

the whole conversation so that repeat I remember that yes you know you don't

record the conversations to listen? and.. No, now I am just taking a notebook and

writing some notes and that's it I guess and the most of the time I am just

establishing a communication and.. I have to say Rene that's phenomenal because when

I remember when we first started working together which I think was like in

January of this year 2017 that was like your biggest concern you were just like

Stefanie I have these meetings with native English speakers and I don't

understand what's going on and so you know we were talking about that and so

now here we are in the end of September and you're like yeah you know I attend

the meetings I understand all I don't have to record them anymore you just

take notes and then you're actually able to input like before you were just

listening and trying to understand now you listen understand and you're

probably able to give feedback and to speak in these meetings is that right?

yeah actually like that you know it's like a big change because when I used to

work here in Ecuator I used to be like the one in the in the meetings and all

the time providing solutions and giving ideas and things like that in your

native language yeah in my native language then when I started to work with

this company was like really weird because I I had some ideas but I was

unable to really express what I was thinking it was awful but now we have

the last meeting a couple of weeks ago and we were talking really fluent way

you know and I was I was giving them some ideas also providing feedback

asking some questions that I had it was really pretty cool so how did you get to

this place in such a short amount of time? because you were probably stuck in

the same place for years you know where you pretty much understood English but

you didn't feel fluent or confident you were stuck there for years and then you

had this breakthrough and now you're like yeah you know I speak with native

English speakers my English isn't perfect but we communicate and I'm a

leader at my company now and so how did that happen for you? yeah okay

it's absolutely different when you're going to an institute or something to

just study English and try to memorize these the grammar rules and

all that stuff and it's absolutely different when you are just talking with

somebody else when you started the Academy and we started to just

communicate talking about other careers or profession you said when I started

the Academy? yeah the Academy, the English Full-Time Academy and we were just talking I

mean if you wanna talk in English this is your advice if you wanna talk in English you just

have to go ahead and talk in English that's the only way that you can improve

that skill there isn't any other way you know and when I used to do some

Liver videos I used to play over and over again and then I figure out what were

my faults and then I started to take notes and then try to correct them you

know it's really hard because you are making a lot of mistakes all the time

but if you are paying attention to them and trying to fix them it works

ya know that was actually something that I was really impressed by with you and I

think it was our first or second call again months and months ago but

basically you said Stefanie I did my presentation video I had to do it so

many times because I wasn't satisfied with it but by doing it so many times

you know I caught so many mistakes and I learned and I was like isn't that

amazing Rene you know because this is I think what's lacking from a lot of

educational systems is the whole experimentation from the students where

you guys actually do work and analyze your own work and not necessarily rely

24/7 on a teacher to correct your mistakes because a lot of times students

are like Oh teacher correct me correct me and it's like you will find your own

mistakes if you just really start looking for them so I think that that's

phenomenal and for those who are watching who don't know what the Academy

is the English Full-Time Academy was the first program I ever started online for

English full-time and then we went from an academy to a community and then I

Shut down the community and I'm doing other projects now but I.. don't worry you

guys I'm not going anywhere I'll do more program projects and communities but

basically in that environment it was an online group where there would be like

coaching and training and feedback and the students basically were free to

interact with each other and Rene took full advantage of this

what it was like an experiment really it was a creation and he just I remember

you did one live video and your first live video I think was like two minutes

like I do live videos on Facebook you did one in our group and then your next

video was like three minutes your next video was four minutes your next video

was seven minutes and pretty soon you were just like hey you guys you started

a group like everybody needs to do this this is amazing I feel so confident and

a few days ago you made a video I think that was 17 minutes and I was like oh my

gosh this guy is on fire you know when you're just starting it's kind of really

awful when you don't because you feel you don't have something to say and you

are just thinking oh my gosh I will do a mistake and another and another one but then you are starting to

just speak and communicate things that would've really worked for other people

and then you just start to talk and in an absolutely natural way yeah and I

think that you're such a good example for other people because you really show

people that confidence is a mindset thing like right now we're talking and

you understand me perfectly but you you're making some mistakes your

pronunciation isn't perfect but it's like who cares we're having an awesome

conversation and you're confident you're more confident than other people out

there who have English that's technically better than yours is what I

mean? and so but that's what everyone needs everyone needs this kind of

confidence that you've developed because now you can go out there you can work

for you know an english-speaking company you can network with other English

speakers you can talk with the clients you can be a leader in your industry and

English is no longer holding you back and you'll keep improving it as you go

along but the point is to be able to interact confidently with others and I

think you really truly demonstrate that yeah absolutely

actually I have one friend of mine that is he is studying in a in a .. in

an institute that is really expensive here in Quito actually is one of the

best ones here but I feel he has a really big lack of confidence because his

english is awesome it's perfect he knows a lot of grammar rules he's all

the time with a big book all the time making exercises and things like that but when he has to talk

it it has a big problem that's a .. terrible, i mean his

English is better than mine but I don't know why he can't use it you see why confidence is so important it's

everything because I I know what this is like because as I you know tell

everybody I went through this when I was learning Spanish I was like you I was

the best one in my class and I was like your friend you know my Spanish was

perfect but I did not have confidence and even though maybe I was able to

speak well that lack of confidence held me back from so many opportunities I

wouldn't speak up I wouldn't share my ideas and it was a huge struggle took me

years to overcome it and I didn't have anybody helping me but confidence is

like the one thing that they don't teach you or help you with in English

Institutes it's always teaching teaching teaching

but the real-world practice building the confidence and all that stuff it's

missing its lacking so obviously when I created English full-time that was kind

of like my goal I understood I was like okay we need confidence you know Rene

I've done a lot of traveling and I see so many English speakers around the

world who don't even identify as English speakers they still think they're

English learners and I look at them and I go you're an English speaker we're

speaking English right now you're entertaining me like give yourself some

credit and give yourself some permission to call yourself an English speaker and

yeah again you'll keep improving as you go but at some point you have to cross

over and usually the crossover happens in your mind it's when you decide yeah I

speak English yeah yeah absolutely like you are just missing a lot of

opportunities because you don't wanna use your English it's as you said my

English is not perfect I'm making a lot of mistakes

but I right now I don't really care about those mistakes I am just trying to

communicate my ideas I try to really be like effective in the things that I am doing

exactly and speaking of being effective in the things that you're doing I want

you to tell us now about the conference in the USA because you wrote to me about

that conference and I was so happy for you because you're like Stefanie I was

able to ask questions and so just tell us about this conference I guess that

conference was like the graduation of your program or something for you

we were talking with other non-native speakers in the group and we will grow

in our confidence and things like that and then was like the big test for me

when the boss of my company arrived to the company to Ecuator a couple of

months ago and he had a conversation with me we were talking like one hour or

so and he is from California it was like a big test for me then he said ok you

are ready you can go to the conference and I'm going to buy the tickets for you

wow, wait, stop. That's huge

That's huge because he felt that you were ready with your English your fluency your

confidence he the boss of the company sent you bought the ticket for you so

you could have this amazing experience like this is what I try to tell people

like English will give you so many opportunities but you have to go after

them so okay sorry sorry for interrupting it's just... no you're right

absolutely then after that was like okay I'm

doing awesome here in English and then I had to go to States and then try to see

how my English is but then they're in a country that all the people is speaking

in English so then I went to this conference I was in New York and the

first thing when I arrived to States I mean New York was oh my gosh I'm here

what am I gonna do? it's so I am alone here I was with nobody else in the airport in another

country you're alone oh my gosh what I'm gonna do so I just started to

see how the things are how the people are communicated and you know in New

York the people is speaking a lot of languages people talking in Chinese

and you met Erika there too, right? yes I met Erika also there okay

it was awesome Erika was another person from our Academy group and Erika is awesome so

shout out to Erika and she was she lives in New York and she's just like Rene

you're coming to New York here you know let's hang out and you guys had a blast

right? yeah okay it was the first day and then when I arrived to New

York I remember when I was leaving the airport I didn't have idea what I will

do you know, because I just started to read all the the cards

that were there about the taxis and things like that and then I was just

talking with somebody else from Indonesia or something and then he told me that he

help me with a taxi you know we were talking in English in a really harsh

English because his English was also kind of hard to understand yeah, it was a struggle and then the taxi

arrives, arrived there and it was a big guy from New York and was talking to me

about how and things like that and then we were talking a

little bit I was scared, you know, then I remember that I had

brought some tickets to go and visit the Statue of Liberty and I just ride to

New York and without idea about where I was or something and then I asked for

somebody else to how to get to Battery Park that is a park that is really close

to the Liberty Island mm-hmm and then I was oh my gosh he was giving me

directions about how to get that Park and then I took the metro I got lost

there you know because New York City's Metro is huge but then I was able to get there and visit the Statue of Liberty and I was really

excited I was doing some videos taking a lot of pictures it was amazing because

of it and then at night I had dinner with Erika and we were talking about our

struggles and also about how amazing your community is and things like that

it was awesome you know meeting a person but not just through the webcam or

something but in person, it was absolutely great, you know yeah I think that to me was first of all it was a

dream come true because when I started my academy and community you know what

was it like a year ago over a year ago I was like I want to bring people together

from all around the world help them improve their English and then hopefully

eventually you know people can become friends and meet in real life and that's

literally what happened you guys and you guys surprised me because I had no idea

you were planning on meeting up and then you took a picture and you put it in our

group and I like I was like oh my gosh I started showing it to everybody I

don't remember who I was with my family I'm sure and I was like look you guys look look look so now that that was

phenomenal that you guys got to meet up there you know having met in our

community and then you know gotten to know each other and become friends and

then meet in real life oh my gosh and all of it is just English it's how

English can bring people together so I get really I get really excited

especially when I see like the success of the people that I work with so that's

awesome yeah it was really awesome and you know as I

know that Erika was there I was feeling like okay I have one friend in this

country and that's also yeah even that gives you like peace of mind yeah

absolutely then at the next day I had to assist

that conference and it was great I remember when I write there I was oh my

gosh this is like the big conference for developers and I am here Wow

what was the name of the conference? is QCon

yeah that one is celebrated also in Brazil in London in San Francisco and in

New York mm-hmm so now I was there and I was really Wow I don't know how to

express that I was looking to the people that was arriving they're looking to the

speakers many of them was like the big ones for me and I used to just watch

their videos or read their books or something or their blogs and then I was

there with them you know yeah it was so cool and when I attended the first session it was

awesome because it was okay we are doing many things in the in the good way but

we have to fix many many other things and I was just writing some notes and

then I started to attend to other and another session and then I was in

session that was really technical and I had a lot of questions to that guy and I

was thinking okay I have a lot of question for him

this will be the unique chance that I will have to talk with somebody like

like him you know this question so I had to just go ahead and ask him right but

my English is not perfect but it was like a big mess in my mind you

you're just like I don't know how I'm gonna do this but it's a

once-in-a-lifetime opportunity yeah okay then I just I just said for

myself this will be the unique chance that you will have to talk with this guy

probably so you just have to do it maybe you'll make mistakes

probably no nobody will remember it or you won't it to nobody else you know in your

whole life you will never see them again that's exactly what I tell myself too when I have to do something scary or embarrassing I'm

like they'll never know me or see me ever again yeah absolutely then I just

started to to talk with them asking questions and it was awesome you know

they were able to understand me I don't know with my questions were well formed

or not but they were able to understand me and answer my questions and then

after the meetings also we were just drinking a coffee with them and asking

some questions it was absolutely awesome it was I can't it was phenomenal I'm sure that

that entire experience just did wonders for your overall confidence because you

were already probably feeling pretty confident after having practiced you

know with the people in our group and you had made so many improvements but

then like you said this was the test and you realized it was a once-in-a-lifetime

opportunity so you just decided to go for it and that is like the difference I

think between success and failure in English or in a language because what

happens to a lot of people is they get the opportunity but then they get scared

and so then they don't do it but that's the moment when you have to say it

doesn't matter I'll never see these people again or whatever you have to

tell yourself in your mind to make yourself brave enough to overcome your

fears because once you overcome them that's like when you go over like the

hardest part the mountaintop whatever and on the other side it's just

beautiful because you feel so accomplished and it gives you the

confidence and the courage to go on and to do more right yeah yeah absolutely

you know in that in that confidence then at the lunch time I was just looking to

so many people you know from many play many countries around the world and I

just started to sit together them and just establish conversation and it was

awesome also because I was able to meet people from all

many people from South America but people also from Germany from India from

the States many States from the United States you know Philadelphia California

Florida I don't remember And you just started talking with everyone that's it was awesome no it is it is because like you said a year ago just a

year ago and actually you went to this conference I think like a month or two

ago so literally like six months ago you probably weren't prepared for something

like this but now you went it was amazing you had all these breakthroughs

and I know and you know that that moment was very important for you and for your

entire career because you have even bigger goals and more things that you

want to achieve so what's your next step what are you you know what do you have

your eye on next what do you want to do next in your career? okay you know after

I attend to these to these conference I then I went to visit our client offices

also and then I was able to figure out that the environment that they are

working it's absolutely different and they want that we have then I just

started to think that we had to transform the whole environment that we

have here in Ecuador and make it more like an environment from from from

the States do you mean like it's more productive more organized or what do you

mean? in in all aspects actually because the people in the States is absolutely more

organized in the things that they have they are owning their products that they

are building they are not wasting any minutes in the in the whole day they are

all the time doing productive things and also in that conference I was able to

gather a lot of knowledge to to Ecuador it was awesome so basically you want to like take the

ideas and everything that you learned and observe there and you want to start

implementing them where you're at to help yeah you know your company your

country everything moves forward yeah absolutely

actually I gave like four or five trainings here for the company here in Ecuator

training? yeah trainings about the same topics that I learned there and

since we have one guy that is from Iran and he speaks just in English I had to

make those trainings also in English you know it was amazing you know because you

know they're here in Ecuator there are many Spanish speakers just and in the

company too but since he just speaking English I made those trainings in

English and it was an absolutely other story that we can talk about in another conversation

that sounds like an awesome project again that a year ago you probably weren't prepared for it so it

seems like you've made some really really incredible strides in your

English and in your career you know over the last six months to a year so I think

that's awesome I bet it feels phenomenal I know there's awesome things in store

for you so what tips do you have for other

English learners that are maybe where you were a year ago like if you could

give them advice what would you tell them okay you just have to take the

challenges you know if you have challenges in your life you just have to

go for them and take them and then just we're really hard to to really achieve

all the goals that you have in your life all the goals that I used to have like

one year ago were related with English stuff so I decided to take them just

look as crazy for for a company from US and and work with them and then I

only had to use my English it was it was not perfect it's not perfect yet today

but you just have to use it you just have to take challenges you have to

don't pay attention to your mistakes to the mistakes that you are making you know

just go for it if you want to get something just go for it

that's that's the place that I can take it well I don't know I think that is

really great advice Rene and I mean it's so so simple but again everything

is in our mind we hold ourselves back I think so much sometimes just because of

fear or excuses you know and so you can make excuses for everything you know say that again if you want you can

have excuses for everything yes oh yeah you can you can but you know I think

with the internet with social media with the

way that we're now able to connect to other people around the world there's no

excuse really there's so much great information on the Internet and then you

just need to practice your English speak with other people and like you did you

joined a program that really helped so when you see the opportunity for

something like that to take it and to realize also that traditional language

education can help you in many ways it can teach you vocabulary and grammar but

at some point you have to cross over and start really using English in the real

world so to speak even if that just means on social media with other English

learners and other English speakers yeah that kind of vocabulary that you're

learning in the Institute is not really helpful because you are just learning

the words and learning the translation into your native language but you are

not using them so you just lost them really well I know I know the struggle

too because like I said I've spent years doing the traditional learning method

and it wasn't until I started speaking Spanish with other Spanish speakers it

was like boom fluency just happened I didn't even have to really even try that

just immersion method works so well because your brain the way it tries to

communicate it forces you to think in another language and like right now I'm

in Italy and the other day we were hanging out with someone who is Italian

and doesn't speak English or Spanish I have no idea how or when I learned so

much Italian but I was talking in Italian and he was understanding me and I mean I

wasn't speaking perfectly at all but you know that's what it is if we need to

have the real communication with each other so anyways Rene is there anything

else you would like to share with us any last thoughts that you have? no I guess

as I told you before I just have to say you thanks because in this year my

whole life changed I mean a lot I have another personality with the people

speaking in English I had those chances that were awesome I was visiting a lot

of cities there in the States I mean I had like the whole that the whole bunch

of dreams that I used to have in my mind when I was a child I was able to achieve

and then now I am going for four other ones you

know you changed my mind absolutely so just thank you you are welcome well thank you

also for I guess believing in me and joining my program when I first launched

because you took a leap of faith there and it worked so that's awesome and it

makes me really happy to hear that you achieved your dreams and that now you're

creating new ones and I want everyone to really hear that and know that it's like

you have dreams in your mind right now you can totally accomplish those within

maybe six months a year a couple years whatever it is you can you can reach

those goals and then you'll be creating new goals things you can't even imagine

I like to say you don't know what you don't know you don't know where you're

gonna be you know because you have to accomplish things first and then more

opportunities will come to you so Rene thank you so much for sharing this

information with us I look forward to following your journey and to learning

more about the many awesome things that you do because I know you're gonna

continue doing amazing things so thank you for joining us and we'll talk soon

okay see you

Disney World Wait Times | How to NOT Wait in Line - Duration: 4:55.

You guys, we're going to Disney World shortly and I have a super great tip for

not standing in line! Stay tuned. What, these? Oh yes, those are my Maleficent

horns. I made them. Because I'm crafty like that. So I discovered a killer tip

for not standing in line probably seven or eight years ago and it has made every

Disney vacation that we've ever taken since then awesome. We've tried this at

Disney World, we've tried this at Disneyland, we've done it at Magic

Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, you name it. This sucker works so I am

going to be reviewing an app today called RideMax. So here we are at the

RideMax home page. Once you've paid your $20 you get an account and

you can either create a new plan or look at the ones you've already created. So

let's create a new plan. You tell it which park you're going to go to, what

day you're going. what time you're gonna arrive, what time you're gonna leave, you

schedule your lunch breaks, the whole thing in this app. So I said on Wednesday

the 18th I'm gonna go to Magic Kingdom we're gonna arrive at 8 o'clock and

we're gonna leave by 2 because that's my my strategy. We go early and leave after

lunch. That way the kids are not completely wiped out because you've been

there all day. Then you just go down the list of rides and you tell it everything

that you want to go on. You can also schedule in lunch breaks so let's say

that you had an 11:00 a.m. reservation at Be Our Guest. You could go ahead and

schedule that in here. Then you go over to the Fast Pass tab (say

that five times fast!) and tell it everything you already have a Fast Pass

reservation for. You can also let it choose the time of the Fast Pass - "let

Ride max choose my Fast Pass time" - but that really only works if you are

booking this 60 days out. If you are doing this two weeks in advance like I

usually do you have to have your fast past reservations already made. So if you

have those put them in. If you walk really slowly, if you have a kid in a

stroller or if you have somebody in a wheelchair in your party you can always

say we're gonna walk slower than normal, but I usually leave it at normal. And then

you hit make my plan. This typically takes 30 to 45 seconds. So you can see

all the different plans that I've been making and some old ones - there's 2015

2016. And I just keep making a plan until I come up with the one that works for me.

So now it is ready for us to take a look at it. You click on it and it shows you

the itinerary that it has come up with. So the first thing I do is look at the

estimated wait times - 1 minute, four minutes, 1, 5, 7, 5, 20 for Space Mountain. I can deal

with that because you're inside in the shade. Normally I am so spoiled using

this app that if I have to wait longer than about 15 minutes I modify the plan

and I come up with something else! But I can handle waiting 20 minutes inside

Space Mountain. So look at that! This is between 8 a.m. and noon. Look how many

rides we've got scheduled and that includes lunch in there! We'll be all done

and we can take off at 12:30, or I might add more rides into the mix. I could

modify it and add a few more things. You might be thinking there is simply no way

that you can go on this many rides in such a short period of time, but as

somebody who's used this app over and over on multiple trips on multiple times

of year at multiple different parks these times are extremely accurate. So if

you're at the park, you have used all of your fast passes and now you're gonna

make a new reservation you can go ahead and do that from your phone while you're

standing in the shade in the corner. Add a couple more rides to this plan. Either

make a new plan or modify the plan. You can do this all on the fly on your phone

while you're there in the park. You don't have to plan ahead but I typically plan

it... you know a week or two in advance so that the day we go to the park we are

set to go. So that is my secret weapon for going to

Disney and having a great time. Try it this way. I guarantee you you will not

regret it. Best 20 bucks ever! What, these? Oh yeah,

these are my Not So Scary Halloween Party

Anjalay Circuit Mauritius Tutorial Explain How to Ride Race on the Track including gear changing - Duration: 3:22.

hello hello, so I made a little video for you on track that really Iike

which is Anjalay, I think that there are a lot of people that like this little Track.

So I have well studied it, it was an important track in the start of my career

Because it was the only track that we had in Mauritius to train on

So I spent a lot of time there.

The track setup is from the Mauritius 125 cup, and also Tea Jay's Track days where using it

Why I like this setup is that there is greater corner speed, meaning that

the riding techniques given will be useful, and the different will be more on riding

than which bike you ride

Now we start, this is me having a play sliding with the DRZ going through the chicane

As you can see it was on the of the 125 cup

This is the KTM duke 125cc completely stock

We did a cool little setup, a championship that was well disputed as we all had the same bikes

Start of the of the race, going into the first chicane

Put 3rd gear and try to get it in front of everyone else

Got down to 2nd gear, break hard then let go, let the angle slow you down

You hit 3rd and flip to the other side, as you drop in put on 4th gear

keep a steady throttle control, stable on your body posture and out you go

Now from 5th to 3rd if you get the corner perfect. If you lost some speed on entry then drop to 2nd

Hit the curb on the exit!

Look to the right, as you come to the entry you drop from 5th to 4th and dive in

No need to be scared, let the bike drift to the curb with speed

Hook 5th gear, stay close to the curb and power in to the ditch on the exit. Use the whole track!

Into the left on 3rd, as you flip to the right put 4th gear. keep it steady on the gass

Squeeze the front brake, drop back to 2nd

Back on the power, come out nice and wide

Hook 3rd gear, dive the the next corner, little sparks there, as you dive into the next corner put 4th on

Steady throttle control, nice stable and relax posture

Back on the power, as you go out put 5th gear, flip and brake to 3rd diving in

keep speed, use the whole track including the curbs

there in 4th then 5th, the track is nice and flows fast, miss one corner and you will miss the other

again to the entry on the right. It is a very safe reference point

Out wide on the curb, use all track. 5th on, a gentle ease of the throttle then full gass, to 80-90kph

3rd gear on entry to slow you down, as you flip to the right hit 4th then full gass

It is important to keep a steady throttle control through the chicane, IT IS NOT AN ON and Off Action and this will push you wide

This next corner is at about 70kph, it is a nice fun corner

It is one on the most technical of the track. Going through this one correctly will affect your result / laptime

I hope that you enjoyed the video, if you have any questions please ask, no need to hesitate

I need some feedback from you to know if you like this type of videos, so please like share and comment

So if any questions ask. You can take a screenshot of the track from the beginning, it can help you learn

The numbers on the map are which gear I am at on each corner of the track

I will also soon put a free downloadable map of Anjalay of my website. I will link in the description when it done

Quantum Fields: How particles interact around us | Breakthrough Junior Challenge 2017 - Duration: 3:00.

We are living in a universe where particles are interacting every single time.

See this book I got here? The electrons in my hands are actually repelling the

electrons of the book. Really? If that doesn't convince you, we can make a cloud

chamber from dry ice and see these amazing patterns of particles

interacting with other particles. You ask what's behind all that? Quantum Field

Theory. Okay, let's start with the word "quantum". Quantum can be closely associated

with probability like rolling a dice. Now, if this dice is the interaction for example,

when electrons repel and we throw this dice in an electron-electron field. The

Quantum Field Theory will tell us what happens when the fields interact with a

certain probability. Hmm. Does that mean there are a lot of possibilities as to

how electrons repel? Not just repel because of their negative charges? Yes

and no. Electrons repel not just due to their charges. That's a classical view. In a

quantum view, they repel because of exchanging virtual photons. What? Let's

use Feynman diagrams to visualize that. When electrons happen to be near each

other, a virtual photon is emitted by one electron and the other electron absorbs

it. Hence, the repulsion. Easy as it sounds

right? Well, remember. I did emphasize other possibilities going on when electrons

repel. That means, aside from this diagram, there are other diagrams too. Noooo.

To solve that, we need to find which diagram among others is most probable so we can

approximate. A theory called perturbation will help us find that and let's use

this paper as an analogy. Suppose that I put a value of this whole paper as one.

Folding it once becomes one-half. Twice becomes one-fourth, and so on. But as we

go on to fold it many times, the number contributes less to the value of the

whole paper. So, one-half becomes the best approximate to one. Like folds in the

paper, diagrams have vertices - the area electrons absorb emit photons.

How many vertices a diagram has is also how much is its probability to happen.

Specifically, one vertex contributes approximately 1 over 137.

That's the fine-structure constant Two vertices contribute to the constant

squared and the others follow the same pattern. But since there are no one

vertex diagrams, we can now approximate the two vertex diagram as the most

probable interaction when electrons repel. But wait, there's an exception to using

perturbation. Diagrams called loops actually add up to contribute a bigger

probability. Meaning, we need to include them in our approximation. But when

scientists did that, it led to an infinity. This required them to use a

mathematical technique called renormalization. It's very complicated

but the idea is that we get rid of the infinities by introducing a "cut-off" so we

can have finite values. Now the importance of these values goes back to this book, the

cloud chamber, and exceptionally the whole universe. They describe how quantum

fields function in the microscopic world and the only thing we see in our daily

lives, that is in a macroscopic world, are the ones with the highest probability.

coat the both sides of the fish chunks thoroughly with the paste

Marinate the fish for 1/2 an hour

After 1/2 an hour, take a nonstick pan

Add 4 tablespoons of oil

Heat the oil in medium flame

Add black cumin seeds

Let it saute a little

Remove each marinated fish chunks from the paste and slide them into the hot oil very gently, make sure to not drop it in the hot oil to avoid the hot oil to spill out

Hilsa fish is fragile and break easily so care should be taken while handling them

Fry the fish on medium to low heat,

Turn the fish chunks with the help of two spatulas so that fish does not break during turning & fry the other side

Keep the flame in medium

The fish chunks are taken out from the spices for marination so these are covered with spices & the spices will burn if the flame is high & the fish will taste bad

Both sides of the fish are fried now

The color of the fish chunks is golden brown. So fish has been fried properly

Turn this side of the fish chunks now

Now add the rest of the spices paste which we have mixed with the fish to marinate them before frying

Add water to the mixing bowl and it will dilute the left over spices in the bowl and add that to the pan

Now flip the fish chunks upside down and mix well the both sides with the gravy

The gravy will boil up for 3 minutes

The gravy is now starting to reduce

Now add green chili slits to gravy

Cover the pan and keep it for 5 more minutes to boil the fish in steam

The steam inside the pan helps to cook the fish, and the gravy will also be absorbed by the fish

Open the lid & with a spoon, we will press the fish chunks a little to check the tenderness of the fish. spoon tends to go inside the fish so fish has become soft and ready

The fish is done & Now switch off the flame

Let it rest in the pan for a few minutes to get the desired consistency. The gravy will become thick a little by absorbing the heat of the pan & the fish will be more soft

The consistency of the gravy is OK. If you like more thicker gravy then boil again for few more minutes

For us it is ok. Now sprinkle 1-2 teaspoon of mustard oil over the fish chunks

Mustard oil has a specific flavor which when mixes with the hilsa fish makes it very much tasty

Now stir a little to mix the oil with the gravy

Take out the fish with yogurt in a separate bowl

The hilsa fish and yogurt is ready now

You can serve it with hot rice or pulao

Good Bye

My Nickname Was Retard: How I Survived Bullying | Hear Me Roar - Duration: 4:28.

So a lot of people are given fun nicknames

when they're younger.

My nickname was retard.

I was diagnosed with autism at a very young age

and an autism diagnosis, it's like a box,

even if you're extremely capable mentally,

it's a box that's very hard to get out of.

Until I was six years old, I was barely able to speak

a straight sentence on my own.

My vocal and mental development were considerably delayed

compared to that of other students my age.

I remember one day I was in algebra class

and I was having a really hard time following

what was going on, math has never been my strong subject,

and I remember one day walking out of class

after a really hard day and somebody just said,

maybe if you weren't so retarded,

you'd be able to understand it better.

That was a regular day for me in school.

Most kids my age couldn't wait to go home for the day

so they could socialize with their friends after school.

Me, I didn't really have many friends.

I just wanted to go home and cry myself to sleep.

There were times that when I went home,

I would just sit in bed and contemplate killing myself.

What purpose do I have living in this world

if every day, I'm gonna wake up and it's gonna be like this?

When everyone else has given up on you,

it's hard not to give up on yourself.

So in high school, I was pushing very hard

to get into a high-level English class,

I was in the lowest level because they didn't believe

I was capable of anything more.

I remember taking a test, actually,

to which they claimed would have, if I passed it,

would have allowed me to go into the higher-level

English class, so I took it, and they still refused

to allow me to go into the higher-level class.

They claimed that I didn't do that well on the test.

However, when I asked to see the results,

they refused to show them to me or explain to me

what I did so wrong in the test.

I quickly realized that if I want the best education

available to me, I'm gonna have to start taking matters

into my own hands, and would have to start

educating myself, so that day, I went home

and I did what a lot of teenage kids do best,

I went on the internet, only instead of going on Facebook,

I started teaching myself all these different subjects

that I was not learning about in school.

I noticed how quickly I was learning just by teaching myself

for not even an hour every day and once I realized

that my empowerment came from within myself,

everything began to take off.

10 years ago, they said my speech would never amount

to anything more than basic.

In 2016, I was on a speaker panel at AIPAC

with thousands of people looking on.

Five years ago, they said I couldn't write.

Today, I write for two of Israel's largest newspapers

and get thousands of readers reading my articles

every single day.

Four years ago, they laughed at me when I said

that I would join the Israeli army.

What use does the state of Israel have

for someone as dumb and fat as I was?

Well, I just made aliyah, moved to Israel,

and in a few weeks, I'm gonna once again prove them wrong.

(inspirational music)

One message I wanna leave with you is this:

If anyone out there tells you that you're not capable

of doing something, for whatever reason,

just smile and tell them, watch me.

How to Use MDMA Safely - Duration: 17:16.

Like with any popular recreational drug, there's no reason MDMA should be killing people.

Nearly every death comes from improper dosing, a bad environment, bad combinations, or other

factors.

Once you're just looking at MDMA's safety, it's not a very concerning substance.

Because of prohibition and a lack of education, however, it's pretty easy for people to make

mistakes.

So in this video I want to run through a few key safety tips that'll prevent toxicity and

death in most cases.

And throughout the video, please keep this general principle in mind.

If you take a common dose sitting around someone's house in a temperate environment, there's

almost no chance of harm.

Therefore, when toxicity is seen, MDMA itself isn't really to blame.

Before we can even talk about safe usage, you need to have MDMA.

This is a prohibited market, so tons of people are using ecstasy or Molly, but they're not

taking MDMA.

Instead, they're often being exposed to substituted cathinones or other stimulants.

Those may work on the same neurotransmitters, but they have different safety and effect

profiles.

You might not die because of accidentally taking a random cathinone, but it's still

a lot riskier than knowing what you're using.

Even worse, there are some drugs occasionally sold as MDMA that can easily be lethal, like

PMA and PMMA.

Just a couple doses could kill you and even at sub-lethal doses, neither substance is

pleasant.

So please, if you're trying to use MDMA, use a reagent test kit.

If you can afford MDMA, there's no reason not to also have reagent liquids on hand.

You can easily order them from companies like DanceSafe and Reagent Tests UK.

All you have to do is apply a drop of a testing liquid to your drug sample and observe the

color change.

You'll either add the liquid directly to a powder or crystal sample, or you'll scrape

off some powder from a tablet.

The most common test for MDMA is the Marquis reagent.

In this case you'll usually see a flash of purple that quickly become black.

If that's what you get, there's a fairly good chance you have MDMA.

There are other drugs, like MDA and 6-APB, that could give a similar result.

And although this is rare, a positive test could mask the presence of another non-MDMA

drug.

But, overall, this is a fairly good way to make your usage safer.

If you want to be even safer, there are other options.

The best is to send a sample to EcstasyData, Energy Control, or another drug checking organization.

Doing so typically costs money and it'll take some time to receive the results.

But when you get those results, they'll be drastically more reliable than a reagent test.

These services use an advanced analytical technique called GC-MS.

Unlike with reagent liquids, GC-MS can tell you the chemical components of a sample.

Depending on your location, you may also have access to another spectroscopy tool.

Organizations like The Loop, which functions in the UK, bring analytical tools to events

in order to test drug samples.

So if you're attending an event where those tools are available, I recommend utilizing

them.

And for everyone else, reagents are basically the way to go.

Once you're pretty confident you have MDMA, using the right dose is vital.

There's no reason for almost anyone to take more than 200 mg over the course of a night.

That includes your initial dose and redoses.

If you're using more, you're probably using too much.

Unfortunately, there are some drug using cultures in certain locations that think 2, 3, or 400

mg is a reasonable dose.

This is absolutely false.

You don't need nearly that much to receive MDMA's pleasurable effects and using that

amount raises the chance of harm and the chance of a harsher comedown.

Tablets somewhat complicate this issue, because there's no good way to know how much they

contain.

While they've historically had 75 to 150 mg, they'll sometimes contain 200 and even 300

mg.

High-dose tablets have become a bigger issue in recent years.

Because you're not going to know your dose when taking these products, you need to treat

your tablet as though it may be particularly strong.

As such, start your evening with half and, based on how you feel, decide if you want

the other half 90 to 120 minutes later.

Even though this is sometimes going to result in someone underdosing, it's much better than

overdosing.

And it's definitely better than taking multiple tablets like a lot of people do.

Remember, if you have a high-dose tablet, using just 2 or 3 could expose you to 300

to 500 mg of MDMA or more.

That's when serious health risks become a greater concern and you're also not going

to feel as good when the drug wears off.

You're better off using powder or crystals since you can weigh those with a milligram

scale.

With a scale like the GeminiPro-20, you'll want to weigh out a dose based on a simple

equation.

Take your weight in kilograms and add 50 milligrams.

If you weigh 70 kilograms, your dose will be 120 milligrams.

The safest way to take MDMA is to only take that single dose.

But I get that a lot of people insist on redosing since it can potentially extend the duration.

If you are absolutely insistent on redosing, take half your initial dose around 2 hours

later.

One of the main acute concerns with MDMA is hyperthermia.

Even if you're just sitting around doing very little, your body temperature can increase,

but your heath isn't at-risk.

Whereas if you take a large dose, are dancing for hours, and you're in a really hot environment,

you could surpass 102 or 104 degrees Fahrenheit, or 40 degrees Celsius.

This is why I strongly believe it's not a great idea to use the drug in a hot environment,

like at many clubs or outdoor festivals.

Using MDMA in the middle of the summer in Las Vegas is a pretty good way to exacerbate

whatever harm potential there is.

Yet I understand it's not reasonable to expect people to avoid those settings.

If you're going to use in a less-than-ideal environment, it's good to take breaks.

Just stepping away from the crowd and relaxing for 10 minutes every hour or so can be somewhat

protective.

And above all else, you should definitely stick to a common dose in these situations.

It's also good to make sure you're drinking enough, though this comes with a caveat.

The next acute harm to watch out for is hyponatremia.

Hyponatermia involves a significant dilution of your blood's sodium level.

This happens for a few reasons.

One, people drink a ton of water thinking it'll reduce hyperthermia or otherwise make

MDMA safer.

This is a really bad idea.

Second, the drug's inherent endocrine effects, specifically on the hormone Vasopressin, can

raise the chance of hyponatremia.

And third, people are drinking a lot of water in the absence of sodium intake.

Hyponatremia can present with symptoms like headache, nausea, muscle cramps, and mental

status changes.

If you push it too far, you could encounter cerebral edema, seizures, and brain herniation.

In other words, it's really something you want to avoid.

Sodium dilution can occur even with a typical dose and a fair bit of water, but it usually

won't be dangerous unless you're excessively drinking water.

Therefore, stick to a max of 500 mL per hour of activity.

Even better than using a hypotonic fluid, like water, is using isotonic fluids, like

sports drinks.

These contain some sodium and alternatively, you can take a sodium supplement alongside

regular water, aiming for 200 to 300 mg per 500 mL.

It's worth noting females may be at a greater risk for hormonal reasons, making these tips

even more important.

MDMA reliably increases your heart rate and blood pressure, but like with the temperature

increases, it's not a big deal if you're using it safely.

Once you add intense physical exertion, other stimulants, or high doses to the mix, that's

when cardiovascualr concerns appear.

Because of its stimulant properties, it does raise the risk of myocardial infarction, stroke,

and other issues.

You can nearly eliminate your risk by taking a common dose, avoiding other stimulants,

and not being active for too long.

And of course, if you have a preexisting cardiovascular issue, avoid MDMA.

People often combine other drugs with MDMA.

Sometimes that's fine, but other times it's pretty risky.

There are some combinations that should simply be avoided, including MAOIs, 5-HTP, tramadol,

and other stimulants, including caffeine.

That list isn't exhaustive, but it covers some of the main combinations you should stay

away from.

Those combinations can raise the risk of acute harm and in some cases also raise the risk

of neuronal dysfunction or neurotoxicity, which I'll talk more about soon.

SSRIs are often said to be a bad combination, but this isn't really the case.

They actually function in a way that can pharmacologically oppose MDMA's activity, so they don't exacerbate

each other's harms.

But because they can block MDMA's activity, it's also pretty pointless to combine them.

All in all, if you pay attention to these areas, it's highly unlikely MDMA will be physically

dangerous.

There are just a couple other points I want to touch on before ending the video, those

are frequency of use and neurotoxicity.

Both receive a lot of attention and in the case of neurotoxicity, it's one of the most

popular topics in the media and scientific literature.

By far, the most people frequency recommendation is to wait 3 months between uses.

This is even referred to as the "3-month rule," so you'd almost think there's some science

behind it.

Sadly, there isn't.

Waiting 3 months is as arbitrary as most other frequency recommendations.

To be honest, there's no frequency that's been proven safe in the long-term, so anything

I say is basically a best guess.

(text)

If you're taking MDMA in an ideal way (low dose, good environment) I don't see a reason

why 1 month is especially concerning.

This is based on some anecdotal reports and on MAPS's protocol.

MAPS is studying MDMA in a formal, scientific way to see if it's a good treatment for PTSD

and other conditions.

Their approved protocol involves administering the drug a few times with only 3 to 5 weeks

between sessions.

Of course, that's with a common dose of pure MDMA and it's in a very relaxed setting.

But it demonstrates the core point that the safety of the drug itself is quite different

from the safety of how some people choose to use it.

If you're deciding to use it in a riskier way, perhaps 2 to 3 months makes sense.

It's not based on any real science, but I think the principle of "less is better and

even less is even better" does apply.

The whole point of waiting an extended period between uses is to recover your preexisting

serotonin levels and to avoid an increased risk of neuronal dysfunction.

It doesn't take months for your serotonin to return and we have little reason to think

you're at a higher risk of dysfunction after you've been sober for a month.

So I can't identify a good reason to say 3-months is drastically better than 1-month if you're

using it in a relatively safe way.

This leads directly to the issue of neurotoxicity .

You should watch my neurotoxicity video and read the TDC page since those will go into

far more detail.

Briefly, it appears MDMA does have the potential to cause neuronal dysfunction or toxicity.

This is more likely if you use too often, at high doses, or in really bad environments.

This kind of dysfunction may present with lasting declines in serotonin, cognitive impairment,

and mood disruption.

At the most extreme end, it could hypothetically damage serotonergic neurons for months or

years.

Evidence that reasonable use in humans leads to functional problems is lacking, but the

drug definitely isn't 100% safe.

Exactly how the toxicity or dysfunction occurs isn't clear.

A key part seems to be oxidative stress arising from certain metabolites, including N-methyl-alphamethyldopmaine

and alpha-methyldopamine.

The N-acetylcysteine and glutathione conjugates of those chemicals have neurotoxic or neurotoxic-like

potential.

Raising the ambient temperature can exacerbate the damage, while lowering the temperature

seems to be protective.

This could mean your environment's temperature and your temperature can partly determine

how safe MDMA is.

Hyperthermia might be an issue due to it increasing harm from oxidative stress.

Other potential routes of toxicity include dopamine uptake into serotonergic axon terminals,

tyrosine uptake into terminals, and cellular energy disruption.

Dopamine has long been blamed because its metabolism can also increase oxidative stress.

But it's not entirely clear how big a role dopamine plays.

Regardless of the mechanism, the fact that MDMA could cause lasting disruptions in neuronal

activity is important.

Some people have speculated the most common outcome of this is the phenomenon of "losing

the magic."

This is when someone takes MDMA, often at high doses or too frequently, and eventually

loses much of the drug's activity.

Even more concerning are the potential cognitive and mood outcomes.

They haven't been sufficiently demonstrated in the scientific literature, but that doesn't

mean their impossible.

Because of this issue, using common doses relatively infrequently is quite important.

You might be able to further reduce your risk by adminstering certain substances alongside

MDMA.

Based on animal studies, those protective substances include Alpha-lipoic acid, ALCAR,

Vitamin C, Vitamin E, N-acetylcysteine, sildenafil, cannabinoids, memantine, MK-801, and ginger.

I think if you're interested in some combination of those, it's fair to take Vitamin C, alpha-lipoic

acid, and n-acetylcysteine.

It's not even guaranteed that you need to take substances to avoid harm, but if you

have the money to spend, it's not a bad idea.

There are two other factors that also seem to modulate MDMA's toxic potential.

One in exercise, which seems to be protective.

In general, I'm inclined to believe having good sleep habits, a good diet, and an overall

healthy body will reduce your chance of harm.

And the second is stress.

Chronic stress can be associated with higher glucocorticoid levels and that appears to

make MDMA more dangerous in rats.

In the rat study, the implicated hormone was corticosterone.

For us, this would be cortisol.

The study demonstrated you could raise corticosterone levels by exposing rats to stressful situations.

This would then raise MDMA's harm potential.

Further, when the researchers block glucocorticoid synthesis with a drug called metyrapone (me-teer-a-pon),

stressful situations no longer raised the risk.

This suggests higher stress hormone levels directly mediate an increase in toxicity or

neuronal dysfunction.

There are already countless reasons to lower your stress levels, but this may be another.
