Youtube daily about Jun 26 2017

Hey everybody and welcome to the video.

In this week's episode, we get right into it.

So I talk a lot on this channel about how my life has changed for the better since losing

weight.

How different things are and how much happier I am, all of that sort of stuff.

Well I've been feeling like there's something I should clarify when I talk about all of

those things.

Losing weight by itself isn't going to solve all your problems or the struggles that you

have in your life.

All of these changes and realizations and everything that I've made over the years.

When you lose weight there's a level of self awareness that comes along with it.

You're forcing so much discomfort wether it be mental or physical, you're dredging up

all of these problems in your head with the weight and it kind of forces you to solve

them and forces you to face them.

Simply being smaller or simply reaching your goal weight isn't going to fix those things.

But for me it kind of started a journey of personal growth and self awareness and just

made me face all of these things that I was insecure about for so long.

The big thing that did happen, that I learned when I lost weight.

It feels incredible to follow through on your dreams and it helped me realize that I can

make those things a reality if I want and if I put in the work.

None of this stuff happens on its own but I let that good feeling of accomplishment

from weight loss spill over into every aspect of my life.

Now compared to back then when I have goals I know if I allow myself to put in the time

and the effort, I know I can do it and that's not something I ever felt with such passion

beforehand.

Reaching that goal just gave me the confidence and the self assurance to know I can reach

any goal I want if I'm willing to put in that work.

In the land of social media and the land of I wish or I wish I could do that or have that

or be like that person, it doesn't just happen.

For anybody.

You can reach your goals too.

So that's the biggest lesson I've learned with all of this.

I'm capable of achieving whatever I put my mind to and put the work into.

But just know if you put in that work and that time and that effort it pays off and

it feels great.

What doesn't feel great is continuing to hide behind all of your insecurities and problems

and excuses.

That was a big part of weight loss with what I struggled with, what a lot of people struggle

with.

It's easy to keep being fat and there's some sick part in our brains in those stages that

almost wants us to fail because it's the easy option and it's the one you don't have to

think about, worry about, do, it's complacency.

So just keep that in mind as you're going through this journey.

Don't be complacent.

Don't let that back part of your head let you give up and go back to routine and business

as usual.

Self awareness and personal growth and mental growth is the biggest factor in succeeding

in your weight loss.

Once you allow yourself to make those observations about how you act in situations and learn

how to adapt and change and pivot.

To correct those actions and do what you want to do to reach your goals.

It all gets easier.

But that is it for the formal topic, I wanted to jump straight into it before getting into

the week updates.

I think I'll probably just leave it at that, I'm going to save the details about the San

Francisco trip for next week, and the video from the trip to Bend is coming.

I've been falling behind on my edits.

I promise it'll be out soon, but make sure to give the video a like if you enjoy it,

it really does help me out a ton.

Be sure to subscribe if you want to see more videos, I make these every Monday, I make

other videos every Friday.

Leave me a comment below let me know what you learned about yourself since you started

this journey.

I'd love to get that discussion going.

Until next time, I will talk to you all later.

Have a good one.

What People Are Saying About "From the Ashes": A New Documentary on Coal - Duration: 1:55.

We're gonna see an amazing film tonight.

It needs to be told all over the country

that you can succeed and be committed to an environment.

Watching the lives of the people who are so strongly

impacted by the loss of the coal industry,

I think that's a story we don't tell enough.

This is a battle on which we need to be relentless.

Now's a good time to do something about it

because there are alternatives.

As a human being, as a citizen of the world,

I think it affects all of us no matter where we are.

Coal is an issue that was massive in the campaign

and it's a very, very complicated issue.

We're so excited that we're using film

to tell a very important story about the work

that Bloomberg philanthropies has been doing.

It really presented the human aspect.

Well-meaning people who just want jobs.

But we've gotta find some ways to pull together

and to train them to fit into jobs that are available.

I don't know if there's been a more exciting time

to be paying attention to how we make our electricity

in this country since the Industrial Revolution.

This film really does a great job

of putting the human cost of coal in perspective.

It dives deep.

This film did a really great job

of making it an American issue, a people issue.

It was a very powerful look at coal.

It really resonated with me.

I thought it was a phenomenal film.

I thought it was really inspiring.

Being somebody who's going to grow into this future,

it's very scary, but I like that they offered solutions.

It's a choice.

I'm choosing to make things better for my son.

It galvanized me.

Let's go out and really try and make sure people know

they have that choice, and make the right choice.

And it made me want to get involved.

Prince William's Wife Duchess Kate reveals 'huge challenge' and insecurities about motherhood - Duration: 3:25.

The Duchess of Cambridge spoke of the "sheer overwhelming experience" of motherhood, and

the insecurities she has felt because of it, as she helped promote awareness Thursday about

the mental health needs that can arise during early parenthood.

"Becoming a mother has been such a rewarding and wonderful experience.

However, at times it has also been a huge challenge, even for me who has support at

home that most mothers do not," the mother of two said during a London event launching

a series of educational films about maternal mental health.

There is no rule book.

No right or wrong.

You just have to make it up and do the very best you can to care for your family," she

said.

"For many mothers, myself included, this can, at times, lead to lack of confidence and feelings

of ignorance."

The former Kate Middleton and her husband, Prince William, are parents to 3 year old

Prince George and his sister, Princess Charlotte, who turns 2 in May.

The duchess opened her speech by paying tribute to those killed and injured in a terrorist

attack the day before just outside the U.K. Parliament.

I know you would all want to join me in sending our thoughts and prayers to all those

sadly affected by yesterdays terrible attack in Westminster, she said.

We will be thinking of all the families."

A day earlier, a knife wielding assailant mowed down pedestrians along the Westminster

Bridge before crashing the vehicle outside the Parliaments House of Commons.

He then fatally stabbed a cop before being gunned down by police.

Two other victims were killed and several dozen people were injured in the rampage.

On Thursday afternoon, Kate followed through on her scheduled plan to speak on behalf of

Best Beginnings, a charity partner of the royal Heads Together campaign to raise mental

health awareness.

Kate spoke about how nothing can prepare women for the complex mix of joy, exhaustion, fear

and love that motherhood brings.

"Your fundamental identity changes overnight.

You go from thinking of yourself as primarily an individual to suddenly being a mother,

first and foremost," she said.

Kate noted that the experience is even more difficult for mothers who also experience

mental health problems either during their pregnancy or in the year after giving birth.

She discouraged those women from suffering in silence, and urged them to seek help instead.

Its OK not to find it easy.

Asking for help should not be seen as a sign of weakness," she said.

"If any of us caught a fever during pregnancy, we would seek advice and support from a doctor.

Getting help with our mental health is no different.

Our children need us to look after ourselves and get the support we need."

Following her speech, the duchess met with a group of young moms and dads for a discussion

about how parenthood affected their mental health.

Counting Penguins: What Penguins In Antarctica Might Be Telling Us About Climate Change | NBC News - Duration: 9:33.

EARTH. CLIMATE CHANGE.

YOU CAN ARGUE ABOUT ITS CAUSES ALL YOU WANT, BUT THERE ARE FEW

PLACES ON THE PLANET THAT HAVE FELT THE EFFECTS OF EARTH'S

WARMING MORE THAN HERE, THE ANTARCTIC PENINSULA.

WHERE THE AVERAGE WINTER TEMPERATURE HAS RISEN NINE

DEGREES. WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?

THE PENGUINS WILL TELL US. >> THE ANTARCTIC PENINSULA ISN'T

THE EASIEST PLACE TO GET TO. IT REQUIRES A TWO DAY SEA VOYAGE

FROM THE BOTTOM OF ARGENTINA ACROSS THE SOUTHERN OCEAN.

OUR DESTINATION, THE 800 MILE LONG LEG OF LAND THAT REACHES

NORTHWARD FROM THE CONTINENT. IT IS A PLACE OF JAW DROPPING

GRANDEUR, MOUNTAINS, GLACIERS, AND ICEBERGS THE SIZE OF CITY

BLOCKS. >> WE CAME HERE TO COUNT

PENGUINS, FOR THEM CLIMATE CHANGE IS ALREADY A CRITICAL

PROBELEM. AND THEIR PROBLEMS MAY SOON BE

OUR PROBLEMS. >> HOW TO YOU COUNT THEM?

WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO? >> IT IS SUPER LOW TECH.

WE'VE GOT THESE CLICKERS. THERE YOU GO.

>> HANDHELD CLICKERS. WE GOT ONE FOR YOU TOO HARRY.

>> ONE CLICK FOR NEST AND THAT'S IT.

>> I MIGHT BE ABLE TO HANDLE THAT.

>> ALL RIGHT >> IT'S HARDER THAN YOU MIGHT

THINK THEY ALL LOOK ALIKE. BUT WE'LL GIVE IT A TRY.

>> ANTARCTICA IS HOME TO MILLIONS OF THESE DUMBFOUNDINGLY

CHARMING AND REMARKABLY RESILIENT ANIMALS.

A FLIGHTLESS BIRD THAT HAS BEEN CAVORTING AROUND THIS PART OF

THE WORLD FOR 60 MILLION YEARS OR SO.

RON NAVEEN IS THE "BIRDMAN OF ANTARCTICA."

A CITIZEN SCIENTIST, HE FOUNDED AN ORGANIZATION CALLED

OCEANITES. IT'S SOLE PURPOSE IS KEEPING

TRACK OF THE PENGUIN POPULATION. >> WELL, THERE'S FIVE HERE.

>> DR. HEATHER LYNCH, JOINED HIM ABOUT TEN YEARS AGO.

SHE'S A HARVARD TRAINED EVOLUTIONARY BIOLOGIST AND

TEACHES AT STONYBROOK UNIVERSITY.

>> WOULD IT BE TOO MUCH OF A STRETCH TO SAY THESE PENGUINS

ARE SORT OF THE CANARY IN THE COAL MINE OF CLIMATE CHANGE?

>> OH WE DO THINK THAT. AND IN FACT THAT'S ONE OF THE

REASONS WHY WE ARE SO FOCUSED ON THEM. BECAUSE THEY ARE THE THING

THAT WE CAN, WE CAN STUDY. AND WE HOPE THAT THEY -- THEY

CAN TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT OF WHAT WE MIGHT EXPECT

ELSEWHERE. YOU KNOW ALL THE SPECIES ON THE

PLANET NEED TO DEAL WITH CLIMATE CHANGE. IT'S NOT AN ANTARCTIC

ISSUE. BUT THESE PENGUINS ARE DEALING

WITH IT NOW. >> SPECIFICALLY THEY ARE HERE TO

COUNT THREE TYPES OF PENGUINS. CHINSTRAPS, ADELIES, AND

GENTOOS -- EASIER TO DO NOW BECAUSE IT'S DECEMBER, SUMMER IN

THE SOUTHERN HEMISPHERE. IN ORDER TO COUNT PENGUINS YOU

MUST OVERCOME AN OLFACTORY CHALLENGE.

THE EVER CONSTANT AROMA OF PENGUIN POOP.

>> THERE IS AN ODOR THAT ACCOMPANIES OUR TASKS HERE,

TODAY. >> IT'S THE SMELL, IT'S THE

ANTARCTIC PERFUME YOU MIGHT SAY. IT'S THE GUANO FROM THE

PENGUINS. >> RON CAN TELL FROM SMELL AND

SIGHT EXACTLY WHAT THE BIRDS ARE EATING.

>> SO THE PENGUIN POOP TELLS YOU A LOT.

>> OH MY GOD, PENGUIN POOP TELL-GUANO IS EVERYTHING.

YOU KNOW WE GOT TO COUNT BUT I LIKE TO KNOW WHAT THE HELL THEY

ARE EATING IN THE ECOSYSTEM. AND THERE IS A LOT OF CONCERN

BECAUSE WITH THE WARMING DOWN HERE.

THE FOOD CHAIN'S BEEN REALLY DISRUPTIVE.

>> DISRUPTED, HE SAYS, EITHER BY RISING TEMPERATURES OR OVER

FISHING, MAYBE BOTH. THE BIRDS ARE EATING TINY SHRIMP

LIKE CREATURES CALLED KRILL INSTEAD OF FISH. AND RON'S NOT

HAPPY. >> YOU CAN YELL AT THEM EAT MORE

FISH, EAT MORE FISH, YOU KNOW AND THEY JUST DON'T GET IT.

>> AND IT'S NOT JUST THE FOOD SUPPLY, WARMER WINTERS MEAN RAIN

SOMETIMES INSTEAD OF SNOW. BIRDS BUILDING NESTS IN MUD INSTEAD OF

ICE. SOME THOUGH HAVE MOVED TO HIGHER

GROUND. >> LOOK AT THIS.

>> SOMETIMES THE ANTARCTIC ACTS LIKE IT WANTS TO SWALLOW YOU

WHOLE AND THEN TODAY IT IS NOTHING BUT GIFTS.

>> I'M SO SURPRISED THAT THESE BIRDS DECIDE TO NEST A COUPLE

HUNDRED YARDS OFF THE WATER. THEY ARE WAY UP HERE.

>> THEY ARE BUT LOOK AT HOW DRY THESE PLACES ARE.

I MEAN, IF YOU ARE A PENGUIN, THIS IS AWESOME.

THIS IS THE BEST ZIP CODE AROUND.

EGGS ARE DRY AND THESE LITTLE BOULDERS PROVIDE A LITTLE

PROTECTION FROM THE PREDATORS. >> FOR SEVERAL DAYS WE SAILED

AND COUNTED, AND SAILED AND COUNTED.

BUT ABOUT HALFWAY THROUGH OUR 11 DAY JOURNEY WE CAME UPON A

PLACE CALLED BROWN BLUFF. THERE WE SAW A PENGUIN COLONY

RON DISCOVERED. HIS CONNECTION HERE IS VISCERAL. BECAUSE, IT IS

ALMOST UNRECOGNIZABLE FROM WHEN HE FIRST SET FOOT HERE.

>> WHAT'S THE BIGGEST CHANGE YOU'VE SEEN HERE SINCE YOU

STARTED COMING HERE 30-SOME YEARS AGO?

>> THERE'S NO SNOW. AND IT'S EARLY DECEMBER.

THIS IS CRAZY. THIS IS USUALLY COVERED IN SNOW,

SNOW THAT IS MAKING IT DIFFICULT FOR ME TO COUNT THESE GUYS.

IT'S NOT HERE THIS YEAR. THE SEA ICE WAS LOW THIS YEAR.

IN OTHER LOCATIONS IN THE ANTARCTIC PENINSULA, I CAN WALK

BEACHES THAT WERE COVERED BY GLACIERS WHEN I FIRST CAME SO

MANY DECADES AGO. THIS PLACE IS CHANGING.

>> AND CHANGING FAST. THIS YEAR ANTARCTICA HAD THE

LOWEST AMOUNT OF SEA ICE SINCE SATELLITES BEGAN KEEPING TRACK

IN 1979. AND NOT BY A LITTLE BIT.

SEA ICE WAS DOWN SOME 66 THOUSAND SQUARE MILES FROM

THE PREVIOUS RECORD LOW. THAT'S ABOUT THE SIZE OF WASHINGTON

STATE. >> HAVE THERE BEEN MOMENTS OF

FUTILITY FOR YOU HERE, TRYING TO SAY THAT THESE ANIMALS AND THIS

PLACE ARE TRYING TO SEND A MESSAGE BUT NO ONE'S LISTENING?

>> I HAVE THAT FEELING ALL THE TIME.

YOU TRULY HAVE TO UNDERSTAND THAT THERE ARE A LOT OF

PEOPLE -- AND I DO UNDERSTAND THIS, WHO JUST DON'T HAVE THE

BEST OF LIVES. THEY CAN'T PUT FOOD IN THEIR

MOUTHS. THEY DON'T HAVE A JOB.

I UNDERSTAND WHY THEY CAN'T FOCUS ON CLIMATE CHANGE RIGHT

NOW. BUT THERE'S A HECK OF A LOT OF

PEOPLE OUT THERE THAT JUST HAVEN'T GOTTEN THE MESSAGE YET

BECAUSE I DON'T THINK THEY'VE HEARD IT NECESSARILY THE RIGHT

WAY.

>> NOW GENTLEMEN JUST CALM DOWN. >> HEATHER LYNCH SAYS THE ADELIE

PENGUIN POPULATION HERE HAS DECLINED BY SEVENTY PERCENT

SINCE THE 1980S. AND THE CHINSTRAP POPULATION IS

DOWN FIFTY PERCENT IN SOME PLACES.

INCREDIBLY AT THE SAME TIME THE GENTOO PENGUIN POPULATION IS

ACTUALLY GROWING. >> SOME OF THESE BIRDS, SOME OF

THESE PENGUINS HAVE THRIVED THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS.

>> OH THEY HAVE, THESE GUYS RIGHT BEHIND US THE GENTOO

PENGUIN, THEIR POPULATION GROW THREE, FOUR, FIVE PERCENT A

YEAR. THE SECRET, ADAPTABILITY.

THE GENTOOS ARE ADJUSTING THEIR DIETS AND MOVING THEIR NESTS TO

MORE SUITABLE PLACES. >> THEY ROLL WITH THE PUNCHES.

IN A WAY THAT THESE OTHER SPECIES JUST CAN'T.

AND IN THAT THERE IS A BIG LESSON FOR US, YOU KNOW, THAT WE

HAVE TO ADAPT OR WE'RE NOT GOING TO MAKE IT.

>> AT STONY BROOK DR. LYNCH ANALYZES DRONE FOOTAGE AND EVEN

SATELLITE SHOTS. >> SO THE TECHNOLOGY THAT WE'RE

USING NOW ISN'T JUST TELLING US HOW MANY PENGUINS THERE ARE,

IT'S TELLING US ALL SORTS OF THINGS ABOUT PENGUIN BEHAVIOR.

>> IT'S THE WAY TO GET THE BIG PICTURE.

>> SO WHAT ARE THE PENGUINS TELLING US?

>> I THINK THEY'RE TELLING US THAT THINGS ARE CHANGING.

AND I CAN'T SAY WHY. WE HAVE SOME -- WE HAVE SOME

SUSPECTS HERE. YOU KNOW, CERTAINLY CLIMATE

CHANGE IS ONE OF OUR MAJOR SUSPECTS.

FISHING. WE HAVE A VERY ACTIVE FISHERY IN

THE ANTARCTIC. SO SOMETHING IS GOING ON NOW

THAT HASN'T BEEN GOING ON IN THE PAST.

WE KNOW THAT. AND THAT MAKES THE WORK THAT WE

DO NOT JUST IMPORTANT, BUT REALLY URGENT.

>> AND AS FOR CLIMATE CHANGE DOUBTERS?

REMEMBER THE ANTARCTIC PENNINSULA IS THE PLACE WHERE

THE AVERAGE WINTER TEMPERATURE HAS GONE UP NINE DEGREES.

AN UNPRECEDENTED INCREASE. HERE THE EARTH IS GETTING WARMER

FASTER THAN ANYWHERE ELSE, CHANGING THE ENVIRONMENT AND

FORCING THE PENGUINS TO ADAPT TO SURVIVE AND THE PENGUINS ARE

TELLING US SOONER THAN WE THINK WE WILL HAVE TO ADAPT TOO.

>> I THINK THAT PEOPLE WANT TO DENY THE REALITY OF CLIMATE

CHANGE, WHICH IS THAT, YOU KNOW, IF WE JUST DON'T -- I JUST CLOSE

OUR EARS TO IT, IF WE JUST CLOSE OUR EYES, THAT SOMEHOW IT'S NOT

GONNA HAPPEN. AND THEN BEFORE YOU KNOW IT,

YOU'RE LOOKING AT A FOOT OF WATER OUT YOUR FRONT DOOR, AND

YOU'RE THINKING, YOU KNOW, WE REALLY SHOULD HAVE INVESTED IN

SOME REAL ESTATE, YOU KNOW, FURTHER UPHILL, AND EVEN THE

PENGUINS ARE GOING TO HAVE TO DO THAT TOO.

>> RON HAS BEEN TO ANTARCTICA SO MANY TIMES, IN ALL HE'S SPENT

EIGHT YEARS OF HIS LIFE HERE. HIS HOPE, HIS WORK WILL MAKE A

DIFFERENCE, BUT IT PAINS HIM TO SEE WHAT'S HAPPENING TO THE

PLANET. >> WHEN DO YOU CRY?

>> I CRY WHEN I THINK ABOUT LEAVING THE ANTARCTIC.

I CRY WHEN I THINK ABOUT MY GRANDKIDS, MAX AND CHARLIE.

AND I THINK ABOUT WHAT THEY'RE GONNA BE FACING WHEN THEY'RE

10 OR 15 YEARS OLDER THAN THEY ARE RIGHT NOW.

THAT REALLY CHOKES ME UP A LOT. THEY REPRESENT TO ME WHAT THIS

IS ALL ABOUT. IT'S ALL OF US ON THIS PLANET

You know, I could be like, hiding the fact that like,

But instead I'm hiding I'm the sun of a world

Like, poor me.

Your dad was a world champion fighter?

Yeah, he was Heavyweight Champion of the World, twice.

Yeah, he was he was a boxer.

And he also--

He's the spokesperson for the George Foreman grill,

which is a counter top grill.

The George Foreman grill, I know the George Foreman grill.

Yeah, it's a person.

That's his family's grill.

That's you?

It was really nice to share with my team

that I'm a George Foreman.

And I feel really good about it.

Do you know how much chicken I've

cooked on the George Foreman?

Me too.

I bet.

CNN Retracts Story About Trump Adviser Being Under Investigation For Russia Ties

BY RYAN PICKRELL

CNN has retracted a story claiming a presidential adviser is under investigation for ties to

Russia and apologized to the official for improper reporting.

CNN, which the president has previously called out for fake news, reported Thursday

that Congress is currently investigating Anthony Scaramucci, a member of the transition teams

executive committee, as well as as fundraiser and adviser for the presidents campaign.

The story, which was based on the statements of an anonymous congressional official, has

since been deleted and replaced with an editors note.

CNN claimed Senate investigators are looking into whether or not Scaramucci discussed lifting

sanctions with Kirill Dmitriev, the chief executive of the $10-billion Russian Direct

Investment Fund, in a meeting just four days before President Donald Trumps inauguration.

CNN.com published a story connecting Anthony Scaramucci with investigations into the Russian

Direct Investment Fund, CNN said in its editors note, That story did not meet

CNNs editorial standards and has been retracted.

Links to the story have been disabled.

CNN apologizes to Mr. Scaramucci.

The Russian Direct Investment Fund is a government-operated investment tool that has helped private-equity

firms in the U.S. invest in Russia.

Scaramucci met the investment funds chief executive Dmitriev in Davos, Switzerland at

the World Economic Forum, where he expressed a desire for more outreach with Russia and

other countries, like China.

New study raises questions about children and gun safety - Duration: 2:12.

A new report published this week by the CDC finds that almost 1300 children are killed

and another 6000 injured by guns every year in the U.S. Gun violence now ranks as the

third leading cause of death among children under 17, with African American boys accounting

for over a third of those deaths.

The study further validates a 2012 statement issued by the American Academy of Pediatrics

that, "The safest home for children and teens is one without firearms."

"The report frames the impact of gun violence on children as a serious public-health problem

that demands attention and scientifically sound solutions.

It calls for programs to help youths manage their emotions and their problems and […] underscores

the importance of safely storing guns to prevent both unintentional and intentional shootings."

Research shows guns in the home increase the likelihood of both suicide and accidents.

The Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence notes that child access prevention laws — the

kind that hold adults accountable for giving kids unsupervised access — "have been

shown to be effective at reducing unintentional firearm deaths among children."

But politicians beholden to the gun lobby continue blocking scientific research into

gun safety while pushing for policies that even responsible gun owners don't want.

"By flexing its political muscle, the NRA has blocked funding for federal gun violence

research, stalled presidential appointments and killed every significant piece of gun-control

legislation introduced in Congress since the Federal assault weapons ban of 1994."

Eyewitnesses describe how the very same lawmakers who consistently block gun-safety laws went

running for cover, hiding in the dugout when a crazed gunman opened fire on them during

baseball practice and leaving their injured colleagues on the field.

Compare that to how teachers at Sandy Hook Elementary used their own bodies as shields,

six of them losing their lives to protect their students.

Now tell me, who's really looking out for the well being of our nation's children?

TOP 20 MYTHS AND FACTS ABOUT DIABETES ✔ YOU MUST SEE - AMERICAN DIABETES (ADA) INDIA PASSION 4 LIFE - Duration: 9:03.

We have often heard people saying…

Diabetes is caused by eating too much sugar.

I'm not obese… so, I can't get Diabetes.

After extensive amount of medical research, I'm gonna show you TOP 20 MYTHS & FACTS

about Diabetes.

''MYTH #1'' -- Diabetes is caused by eating too much sugar.

''FACT'' -- Years ago, people called it "sugar diabetes'', implying that the

disease was caused by eating too much of the sweet stuff.

Medical experts now know that diabetes is triggered by a combination of genetic and

lifestyle factors.

However, being overweight, which can result from indulging in high-calorie sugary foods,

does increase your risk for developing type 2 diabetes.

The American Diabetes Association (ADA) recommends that people should avoid intake of sugar-sweetened

beverages to help prevent diabetes.

Remember one thing, Sugar doesn't directly cause Diabetes, in the way Smoking cigarettes

causes Lung Cancer.

''MYTH #2'' -- Diabetes is NOT a very 'serious' disease.

''FACT'' -- Diabetes causes more deaths a year than breast cancer and AIDS combined.

Having diabetes nearly doubles your chance of having a heart attack.

The good news is that good diabetes control can reduce your risks for diabetes complications

''MYTH # 3'' -- Diabetes doesn't run in my family, so I'm safe.

''FACT'' -- Family history is 'ONLY' one of several risk factors for type 2 diabetes.

''MYTH # 4'' -- If you're overweight, you'll automatically get type 2 diabetes.

''FACT'' - Being overweight or obese is a serious risk factor, but there are other

factors that put you at an increased risk.

Having a family history of diabetes, having high blood pressure, or being sedentary are

just some of these other factors.

''MYTH # 5'' -- Having diabetes means your body isn't producing enough insulin.

''FACT'' - People with type 2 diabetes typically have enough insulin when they're

first diagnosed.

The insulin just isn't working properly.

This means the insulin doesn't cause their cells to absorb glucose from food.

Eventually the pancreas may stop producing enough insulin, so they will need injections.

''MYTH # 6'' -- Diabetes is contagious

''FACT'' - Diabetes cannot be caught off someone else.

Diabetes is categorized as being a non-communicable illness meaning it cannot be passed on by

sneezing, through touch, nor via blood or by any other person to person means.

''MYTH # 7'' -- People with Diabetes are more likely to get cold and other illnesses

''FACT'' - People with diabetes are 'NOT' more likely to have cold or other

illnesses.

The significance of illness for people with diabetes is that it can make the management

of blood glucose levels more difficult which can increase the severity of an illness or

infection.

''MYTH # 8'' -- People with Diabetes go blind and lose their legs.

''FACT'' - Diabetes is a leading cause of blindness and also causes many amputations

each year.

However, those people with diabetes that control blood pressure, glucose, weight and quit smoking

all increase their chances of remaining complication free.

''MYTH # 9'' -- If you have Diabetes, you can't lead an active lifestyle.

''FACT'' - This myth is particularly problematic because many long-term studies

have shown the positive impact regular physical activity has on lowering glucose.

Naturally, any physical fitness program needs to be approved by the diabetes care team prior

to starting, but once you've settled into a program, being active and healthy with diabetes

is absolutely possible and is definitely encouraged!

If you have any complications, such as heart disease, retinopathy or neuropathy

talk with your Doctor before you start any

kind of exercise program.

''MYTH # 10'' -- Women with Diabetes should NOT get pregnant

''FACT'' - Women who manage their diabetes well can have a normal pregnancy

and give birth to a healthy baby.

Keep watching this video for the myths and facts related to Insulin Injection

''MYTH # 11'' -- People with Diabetes should NOT play Sports

''FACT'' - High-prominence diabetic sportsmen and women have disproved this diabetes

myth.

People with diabetes should take part in exercise to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

There are some factors worth considering before partaking in sport, but there is no reason

why people with diabetes can't participate in most cases.

Ever heard of Wasim Akram?

He was diagnosed with Diabetes at an age of 29, yet he went on to become one of the greatest

fast bowlers in the history of Cricket.

''MYTH # 12'' -- You'll know if you have Diabetes by your symptoms.

''FACT'' - Not always.

Type 2 diabetes often goes undiagnosed because it usually has few or no symptoms when it

first develops.

''MYTH # 13''-- People with diabetes can't eat sweets or chocolate.

''FACT'' - If eaten as part of a healthy meal plan, or combined with exercise, sweets

and desserts can be eaten by people with diabetes.

The key to sweets is to have a very small portion and save them for special occasions

so you focus your meal on more healthy foods.

''MYTH # 14'' -- People with diabetes

can't do many jobs.

''FACT'' - Having diabetes won't stop you from having a job and with the improvements

that have been made in treatment of diabetes, the number of jobs that people with diabetes

are ineligible for is now very small.

''MYTH # 15'' -- People with Diabetes can't get tattoo's.

''FACT'' - Not only can people with diabetes have tattoos, many choose to get

medical alert tattoos.

But if your diabetes is in poor control, getting a tattoo can be risky because it might not

heal properly.

An HbA1C under 7.5 is best for tattoos, and getting a tattoo if your HbA1C is higher than

9.0 is considered high risk.

''MYTH # 16'' -- Fruit is a healthy food, so it is ok to eat as much as you wish.

''FACT'' - Fruit is a healthy food.

It contains fiber and lots of vitamins and minerals.

Because fruits contain carbohydrates, they do raise blood glucose and need to be included

in your meal plan.

Talk to your dietitian about the amount, frequency and types of fruits you should eat.

''MYTH # 17'' -- People with Diabetes

should only eat Diabetic food.

''FACT'' - Diabetic food is one of the most common myths of the last ten years.

Often sugar alcohols, or other sweeteners, will be used instead of sugar.

Diabetic food will often still affect blood glucose levels, is expensive, and may also

cause adverse side effects.

''MYTH # 18'' -- Injecting insulin is painful.

''FACT'' - If you take insulin injections, it doesn't have to hurt.

In fact, it shouldn't hurt!

Practice good injection technique and the experience will be virtually painless

''MYTH # 19'' -- Being on insulin means you don't have to make any lifestyle

changes.

''FACT'' - When you're first diagnosed, your blood sugar may be controlled adequately

by diet, exercise and oral medications.

Eventually, however, your medications may not be as effective as they were, and you'll

likely need insulin injections to help control your blood sugar levels.

Managing your diet and exercise with insulin is very important to help keep blood sugar

levels in their target range and to help avoid complications.

''MYTH #20'' -- Taking insulin means

you have 'failed'.

''FACT'' - If you have type 1 diabetes, you must take insulin to survive once you've

been diagnosed—there is no other treatment for the disease.

People with type 2 diabetes may initially be able to manage their diabetes with a combination

of healthy eating and physical activity.

Many people start on oral diabetes medication when they are first diagnosed, and eventually,

most people will need to go on insulin.

This is because diabetes changes over time.

If you have type 2 diabetes, starting insulin doesn't mean you've done a bad job—just

the opposite, in fact!

Starting on insulin will help you to better manage your diabetes which, in turn, lowers

your risk of developing complications.

TOP 10 Heavy Metal Songs about MOVIES – Lists Of Geekdom Episode 1 - Duration: 7:18.

Hey folks, I'm Max.

Catch me on Twitter at LazyMovieNerd.

This is a special video because my channel has just passed 100 subscribers.

I want to thank each and every one of you!

Making YouTube videos is a lot more work than I ever imagined before starting.

All your comments and reactions is what makes it so rewarding.

With this video I am launching my new series, Lists of Geekdom.

In each episode I'll do a top 10 or a top 5 on some nerdy and geeky subject.

Please comment below with some suggestions for future topics.

Let's get started.

Welcome to the first episode of Lists of Geekdom.

Today I'm counting down the top 10 Heavy Metal songs that are about movies.

Lots of bands have written some.

From Deep Purple to Deicide, every genre of Metal has some tracks that are inspired by

movies.

These ones here are my favorites.

Your list may differ and I'd love to know it, so leave me a comment below.

We start our countdown at number 10 with Lizzy Borden.

I've had the privilege of seeing them live a few times.

Each time they put on a heck of a show.

The song is Red Rum, based on The Shining.

A classic film deserves a great song to be written about it.

So the guys in Lizzy Borden did.

There's a link to the song in the description and I'll link all the other songs in this

list as well.

If you're not familiar with The Shining, then what are you doing here?

Go and watch the movie.

And buy some Lizzy Borden CDs too.

At number 9 we'll stay with some Hair metal.

Dokken.

They've been one of my favorite bands since I was a kid.

The only thing about this band that's bigger than the hair they had in the 80s are Don

Dokken's and George Lynch's egos.

They wrote a killer song called Dream Warriors about Nightmare on Elm Street 3.

I'll be honest and say that all Freddy movies kind of run together in my mind nowadays.

But I really love this song.

Unfortunately, I never got to see Dokken play live.

Maybe one day.

For number 8 we travel a bit back in time to 1977 and Blue Oyster Cult.

One of the greatest bands of all time.

The song is Godzilla.

It's probably the one Blue Oyster Cult song that every one knows and can sing along.

Which Godzilla movie did they sing about?

I think that by then there were a few, so take your pick.

I am quite unhappy that the song was not used in the 2014 Godzilla movie.

Godzilla will return in Kong vs. Godzilla, so maybe Universal will make things right

then.

They better!

And now we fast forward to the late 90s when music was terrible, but good Metal could still

be found.

My all time favorite band Primal Fear got formed that year.

An honorable mention for this list is the song The Exorcist from their album 16.6.

If – for some reason – you don't know what movie it's about, then there's no

hope for you.

The song that I am actually putting at number 7 on my list is Thunderdome from Primal Fear's

first album.

It is about the movie Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome.

The third mad Max movie and the last to have Mel Gibson as the main lead.

A few years ago the franchise got revived with mad Max: Fury Road starring Tom Hardy

and Charlize Theron.

In my opinion that's the best movie in the series.

At number 6 we reach this century with a great Power Metal band Iron Savior.

Iron Savior have a number of movie inspired songs in their catalog.

An honorable mention here is The Omega Man.

An awesome song about the less than awesome movie, I am Legend.

OK.

Not less than awesome, but complete garbage.

I could say that it's a stain on Will Smith's resume, but he's had other masterpieces

as well, such as After Earth…

The song that I'm actually putting on my list is Revenge of The Bride, which is about

the movie Kill Bill.

Arguably Tarantino's best film and definitely a favorite of mine.

The film is innovative and unique in many ways as it pays homage to some great Samurai

films.

Number 5!

Blind Guardian.

Like Primal Fear and Iron Savior, these guys are from Germany.

Hansi Kusch has one of the most amazing and distinctive voices.

I'm going to have to list another honorable mention here because I had such a hard time

picking one song.

Their song Time What is Time is about Bladerunner.

One of the greatest films of all time!

The song that I'm actually putting at number 5 on this list is Fly.

It's inspired by the movie Finding Neverland.

Blind Guardian always do it live.

It is a beautiful piece about a great movie.

At number 4 I put the one and only Alice Cooper.

You can't call yourself a Metalhead if you're not a fan of his music.

Alice is incredible and unique and has inspired so many others to make awesome music.

The song that I'm putting on my list is Ballad of Dwight Fry.

The song is about the amazing actor Dwight Frye, and more specifically his performance

in the 1931 Universal classic Dracula.

This film is definitely worth checking out if you want to see how really good monster

movies are done.

At number 3 is the band Stratovarius.

One of the greatest and most influential Power and Progressive Metal bands ever.

I've been lucky to see them live a few times over the years.

The song that I'm listing here is Fantasia.

This beautiful piece of music is about the movie The Neverending Story.

Everyone's favorite film from their childhood.

The Neverending Story is a timeless classic that stands up even today.

I really hope that no one's gonna try to remake it.

Stop it with the dumb remakes!

Number 2!

Almost there!

In this spot I put Star One.

A progressive metal band formed by the ridiculously talented Arjen Lucassen.

I both pity and envy those who aren't familiar with his work.

I pity them because they haven't had the joy of hearing some of the best music ever

recorded.

I envy them because of what they'll experience the first time they hear it.

Star One have a bunch of songs about movies.

So, my honorable mentions would be Earth That Was which is about Serenity (and the Firefly

TV series), The Eye of Ra which is about Stargate, and Songs of the Ocean about Star Trek IV:

The Voyage Home.

My least favorite Star Trek movie.

I don't care if you disagree.

Comment below and tell me why I'm wrong.

I still won't care.

The song that I'm actually listing at number 2 is Inseparable Enemies.

This great song is about the movie Enemy Mine.

One of the best science fiction films ever made.

This movie saw a lot of issues during production, including a change of director.

But the end result is spectacular.

If you haven't seen it because you had a terrible childhood, then remedy that and go

watch it now.

Finally we come to number 1.

What band graces this spot?

Iron Maiden.

Who else?

The song is The Wicker Man from the album Brave New World.

My favorite Iron Maiden album and an amazing horror movie starring the late Sir Christopher

Lee.

It is a wonderful song that does justice to a great film.

The song was recorded some years before the stellar remake with Nicolas Cage was released.

Why does he keep getting acting gigs?

So that's my list.

Agree or disagree?

Comment below and let me know.

Also remember to subscribe if you're not yet subscribed.

And have a great day!
