HOW TECHNOLOGY FATIGUES THE BRAIN & WHAT WE CAN DO ABOUT IT

It doesn�t matter if you�re a professional, a student, a stay-at-home parent, or a volunteer,

every day can be summed up as a constant battle against stress and mental fatigue.

When our brains grow tired, we make poor decisions, work slower, and produce inferior work.

What�s more, there�s a good chance this mental fatigue is directly caused by some

kind of technology.

Whether it�s your phone, computer, or television, from the moment we wake up, we are constantly

bombarded by emails and texts and messages from friends, strangers and colleagues. Notifications

from social networks pose a constant distraction.

What�s more, the news media has proliferated into so many different virtual spaces that

we�re likely to encounter terror, tragedy, and disaster with every turn.

Instead of living with mental fatigue, it is in everyone�s interest to take an active

stand against it. We have conducted extensive research on this topic and reached certain

conclusions.

The main way to combat mental fatigue brought on by technology is to determine the kind

of work that depletes you the most.

Sometimes this labour will be unavoidable, but when you do have options, it�s important

to put these tasks aside and prioritize periods of time when you need to optimize your productivity

and quality of work.

The next question, then, is: How do you determine which technology-related work drains you the

most?

It varies with each person, and includes several other factors such as what time of day you

normally do the work, how much exercise you get, how much time you spend out in the sun,

etc. To figure it out, try to think about when you feel the most tired.

See if you can determine a pattern throughout your week, and whether or not your fatigue

corresponds with certain types of work or technology.

The answer might be unexpected. The following are a short list of things that might make

you especially tired:

Transitioning frequently between different tasks

Meeting deadlines Planning your schedule and sticking to a routine

Quality control, editing, or fine tuning projects Cold-calling, generating business, or promoting

yourself Sitting still and maintaining focus

Broadening your network and connecting with others on a professional level

Most people will need to perform some or all of the above tasks on a daily basis. But it�s

not about removing these tasks altogether.

Instead, strategize. Organize your day so that you leave your best working time for

when you�re most alert and awake.

Many successful people have unconsciously arranged their schedules so that they leave

a few hours open at a given point in the day when they can dive head first into a task,

use the full potential of their creative imagination, and do some of their best work.

During these periods, they might lay aside technology completely, or use it only in very

specific functions.

It�s important to keep something else in mind. Sometimes, when we think we�re relaxing,

we�re actually tiring ourselves out. Maybe you like to get competitive with a friend

or colleague after work with a game of pool or chess.

Maybe you compulsively watch the news and expose yourself to every new tragedy or disaster

that occurs around the world every day. Understand that your whole day affects your mental energy.

No matter how you spend your day, you will probably want to spend at least a two-hour

chunk completing something important, something that you need to do really well.

If you struggle with mental fatigue, try the following actions and see if they help you

optimize your working hours:

1. Figure Out When You�re at Your Best

Everybody follows a different schedule. Cycles known as circadian rhythms dictate when we

wake up, when we �feel� awake, how much stamina we have, and how well we work.

Some are morning people while others are night owls. If you wake up in the morning and, right

away, feel ready to go and get to work, you might want to do your most important work

first off.

If, on the other hand, you feel like you�re not exactly a human until after noon, think

about spending your morning doing easier or more mundane tasks and leave a chunk of your

afternoon open to really take care of business.

2. Break Your Work Into Different Categories

Every job requires a variety of skills and tasks to get the job done. You�ll have to

interact with colleagues or clients or strangers, organize, manage, craft, or initiate.

If you�re finding yourself yawning at 2:30 p.m. every day, one of the above categories

has probably tired and stressed you out.

Try to break up your work into categories like �Networking and Communication,� �Planning

Ahead,� and �Creative.�

It might just help you understand what�s using up so much mental energy. Consider planning

a �technology-free� hour or hours and use that time to do what needs to be done.

This is essential to achieving what Cal Newport calls �Deep Work� � work periods where

we are totally focused and immersed in the task, in a state of flow.

3. Treat Your Brain Well

Many people don�t realize that increased use of technology has a real, physiological

effect on our bodies.

Just as medicine has determined cures for chemical imbalances in our brains that stem

from mental health diseases like depression or schizophrenia, supplements exist that can

help us stave off mental fatigue altogether.

A group of chemicals known as nootropics have proven to effectively boost brainpower and

stamina. While many of supplements make wild claims, likening their effects to those of

the super-drug from the movie Limitless, some actually have very legitimate effects.

One such nootropic is Qualia, which is sort of like insurance for your brain in that it

contains nearly all major nootropic herbs, and aims to curb a variety of mental deficiencies.

In all, it contains 42 different ingredients and has provided everything people need to

make it through their day in an alert and energetic state. Research is still out on

the effectiveness of �Smart Drugs,� but many athletes, entrepreneurs, and students

4. Plan Ahead

Work can be totally overwhelming and can cause you to jump from task to stressful task without

taking a minute to step back and evaluate. Try to wake up every day and hatch a general

plan for how the next 16+ hours will unfold.

Make a to-do list. Organize tasks between essential, pressing, and casual. Crises will

undoubtedly catch you off-guard and cause you to break from your plan, but these will

become exceptions, and not the manner in which you regularly do business.

Make a few decisions the night before you have a big day, so you won�t have to make

them on the big day.

They can be small (like what to wear or have for breakfast and lunch) or they can be large

(like deciding what tasks actually matter to you to accomplish on the big day). Organize

your to-do list based on those large decisions.

On a final note, if you�re truly struggling and you still have hours of work ahead, think

about taking a quick nap. Countless studies prove that a huge amount of stress derives

from sleep deprivation.

Your battery might just need

a quick recharge.

How can an electric car recognize your face? | UNITI UPDATE 11 - Duration: 4:26.

Hello and welcome to Uniti Update episode 11!

My name is Albin and this is Isak. and we are following the process of developing Uniti

Sweden, an electric car startup

So Albin, what do we have in front of us in this episode?

We are going to take a deep dive into the software development of the heads-up display

and we are going to check out Lewis' speech in Poland at Impact '17!

But first we want to show you some recent developments, we have some new team members

here.

And they joined us just recently in different areas like Marketing and Communications, Engineering,

Finance and different areas.

We have also developed a couple of different test rigs to come up with the perfect combinations

of different sensors and different force feedback inputs for the steering rig.

Furthermore we have started looking into a really interesting material that you see here.

So we can go from being opaque to transparent when you apply electricity.

And this could be used in the car, for example in the roof.

The recent developments on the communications side have also been that we are launching

a new website soon, which Kevin has been working on.

We have also talked with a lot of suppliers and have now received a lot of different HUB

motors which we are testing and trying for the prototype.

We also received some batteries which we are going to test and see if they are optimal

for our prototype.

So there you have some recent events here at Uniti.

And now I want to know more about the head tracking system and the perspective correction

we are developing for the HUD (heads-up display).

Well, the Software Team has been working rigorously on developing software for the heads-up display.

So, one of the systems is object tracking.

So you can actually highlight objects that come in front of the car on the wind screen

by tracking the object with cameras, however the second technology is to make this picture

overlay perfect.

So you can augment the graphics onto the real world.

And that is called perspective correction.

It uses head tracking technology to track your head with a camera inside the car, so

that the graphic overlay is perfect over the real world.

And these two technologies are going to be integrated into one to get a perfect picture

of the graphic overlay of the real world.

That is pretty cool stuff and I think that we should see what the Software Team has to

say about this.

So what we are looking at right now is an optic recognition program which works using deep

learning.

And what we added to it this week is depth sensing capability which uses a stereo camera to

see how far away from the camera each object is and that enables whole perspective correction

which uses the other project which is head tracking.

And hopefully I will be able to put it together into a heads-up display demo to show augmented

reality this week.

What we implemented right now is basically a solution that reliably tracks your face.

And it will change what the heads-up display shows depending on from where you are looking

as a driver.

So those were the recent developments on the software side of the heads-up display, and

we will keep you updated.

I heard that you were in Poland, Krakow, last week, just over the day.

That is right, so we went to Impact '17 which is a big tech conference in Krakow.

So Lewis had a keynote speech about the difficulties and problems with fossil fuel and the many

solutions that green technology and electric cars can provide.

The speech is called "Breathe that shit in!" and I think we should check out a little bit

of the speech right now.

It's a Doomsday speech.

It is called "Breathe that shit in!"

And a large cause of that pollution is a machine that we have created, called the internal

combustion engine that we bring into the center of our most densely populated places and it

just pumps that gas out into the air.

And I totally understand the wonderful advantages that this combustion engine has given us over

time, but we are certainly not technologically bound to this problem.

So that was Lewis' speech in Poland, Krakow, at Impact '17.

OPINION: Why Nnamdi Kanu can't be bribed over Biafra agitation

Editor's note: The agitation for Biafra republic by the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu is gathering momentum on daily basis.

Although many people including some Igbo elders have declared that the south-east region does not need secession but restructuring of the country, the IPOB leader insists that they must secede from Nigeria.

In a message sent to NAIJ. com, a Facebook user, Omololu Omotosho explains why the IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu could not be cowed in the face of intimidation.

There are few activists and forces that have been as effective as Nnamdi Kanu in the recent history of Nigeria.

Nnamdi Kanu of Indigenous People of Biafra and Radio Biafra uses inflammatory language for his agitation; he is an organizer and uses language that will get the attention of his Igbo people.

OPINION: Why Nnamdi Kanu cant be bribed over Biafra agitation.

His goal is Biafra; I say this to say Nigeria has had so-called activists come on board, make so much noise, then they are called into a smoke-filled room, offered a position in government or bribe, in order to stop their agitation, and we do not hear from them anymore.

I dont think Nnamdi Kanu can be bribed because he has been faithful to his cause of Biafra before President Muhammadu Buhari became President; he spent a long time in prison and probably numerous negotiations involving terms of his release were offered to him but he was granted bail not because he accepted bribe or an appointment in government.

com had previously reported that the Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu on Tuesday June 20 in the presence of a mammoth crowed of IPOB members gathered in his father's palace at Isiama Afara-Ukwu Ibeku Umuahia, the Abia state capital, told all Igbos to boycott both the November 2017 gubernatorial election in Anambra state and the 2019 general election should the federal government fail to do nothing about restoration of Biafra.

Kanu, who spoke before the mammoth IPOB crowd who defiled a heavy downpour and stood tirelessly chanting their songs for close to three hours, urged all his followers to excuse themselves from both the forthcoming November gubernatorial election in Anambra state and the entire 2019 election if Nigeria fails to do something.

IT'S NOT SOMETHING THAT HAPPENS ALL AT ONCE.

IT DOESN'T HAPPEN INSTANTANEOUSLY.

IT HAPPENS OVER A PERIOD OF TIME.

AND IF YOU WANT TO ENJOY YOUR JOURNEY WITH GOD,

THEN YOU WILL HAVE TO BE PATIENT AND REALIZE THAT,

ALTHOUGH YOU'RE NOT YET WHERE YOU NEED TO BE,

THAT GOD'S NOT MAD AT YOU ABOUT THAT, THAT HE LOVES YOU

EVERY STEP OF THE WAY.

AND THE MAIN THING I BELIEVE THAT GOD WANTS IS

GOD ACTUALLY WANTS YOU TO LOVE YOURSELF,

NOT IN A SELFISH, SELF-CENTERED WAY,

BUT IN A BALANCED, HEALTHY WAY.

HE WANTS YOU TO NOT BE AGAINST YOURSELF ALL THE TIME

AND CONSTANTLY FINDING EVERYTHING

THAT'S WRONG WITH YOU, BUT HE WANTS YOU TO SEE

WHAT HE HAS CREATED YOU TO BE, AND THAT ALTHOUGH

YOU'VE NOT ARRIVED, YOU ARE ON YOUR WAY.

SO, I THINK, TO EXPERIENCE THIS KIND OF TRANSFORMATION,

multiple things that he tosses at us here and I want to address all of them

okay first of all saying please drop a like on the video that's the nature of

YouTube okay when I put a lot of work into these videos I had to go get your

comments go to Photoshop fix the picture and show it a lot of subscribers so we

can address it that takes time that takes talent from somebody to do so for

me to spend the time to do that I got a look at YouTube and say hey YouTube how

are you going to make me succeed here YouTube is like the only way you're

going to succeed is like you're going to keep asking for likes and descenders

messages in the background as your channel grows and they tell you ask your

subscriber for likes because you're not going to grow unless they come in slap

that like button and watch your video maybe drop a comment when you see a lot

of youtubers asking for that I understand some youtubers are out for

themselves they just want to go out there get the money and they don't care

about the subscribers but I'm saying I'm going to give back and if you're brand

new to the channel you probably don't know we've had previous winners announce

and I'm gonna start doing live streams announcing the previous winners and

keeping those live streams as proof for people that might come to the channel

and think to themselves that we don't announce winners everything is done on

the gleam everything is going to be done on a live stream I can't fake it but I

tell you guys one thing back me up by slapping that like button dropping your

comments so I can give my money the winning to somebody that deserves it

and actually backs the channel not some random that's just coming in here for a

money glitch and it's not part of the community okay so I hope that answers

is this I will show you the glitch from both perspective I'm going to try to

explain it to the best of my ability but pardon my you know loving time spending

loving my time with my subscribers slash friends in the beginning letting them

know that I'm active on the channel and it's not just me tossing videos out

there okay so somebody starts with in the comments section video starts at

5:40 or whatever here we go you guys this is a duplication glitch that you

can do in your Clubhouse so there is some Club houses that have the blue

circle a little bit far away from others I took the Rancho Clubhouse I think it's

called and it's a little bit deep down in the city it's not really that

expensive I had to buy for the first time because remember this is my modded

account that Rockstar banned people's before because it was a modded account I

fully recovered on it got a lot of money a lot of retro allergies from previous

glitches and now I just bought the Rancho Clubhouse for the first time now

the first thing you're going to do if you are setting up from the beginning

unless you already have your setup that is it get 10 vehicles in net in that

Clubhouse not vehicles bikes because they don't allow vehicles anymore I

don't know exactly which is still active but get bikes in there in my case I'm

going to grab 9fag use and one expensive bike the expensive bike is the first one

under them the Benny's the Benny's of stock so I'm going to grab that bike I

think it's the FCR 1000 or something like that

it's the 1,000 mile it's gonna sell for good money you guys and I'll show you in

this video once you have everything delivered to

your clubhouse I need you to get comfortable with accessing that blue

circle and moving around the bikes if you're not comfortable with it you might

mess up the glitch okay and it might seem overwhelming in the beginning but

you guys it's not overwhelming I hate this thing on the first drive but I

practiced okay so what you got to do is you got to have yourself on spot number

one put a fag you there put a second fag you in them in the second spot and

that's what's the FCR or the SC whatever the damn thing is floppy see something

what the hell is this bike called put that in spot number three all right now

you are going to click it to grab the spot one bike you're going to hover over

spot - you're gonna click a again and the game is asking you are you sure you

want to move it here so did you see that that's two clicks right there

two clicks now for you to do this glitch you have to be in that second click and

then try to join a friend okay once you join a friend you're pressing yes to go

to his session when you do that you're actually confirming moving that first

value from spot one to spot two very fast as you load into the mission you

have to click that spot to select it one more time move down on the d-pad and

click a a on spot number three which is you moving the second tag yield to the

FCR or whatever that 1000 bike spot and confirming it that's all we're doing

right here we're trying to duplicate one bike you can do more than one all right

and the founder of this glitch is freight train what's a flood she

duplicated two bikes because he's more comfortable with moving the d-pad

superfast and knowing exactly where he is even though he's blinded in the

clouds so you need to get comfortable on that all right now my case I'm going to

take the bike to Benny's I'm gonna fully jack it up I have the money if you don't

have the money start with something smaller okay get the right bike get

something a little bit cheaper and work your way from there now once you're done

upgrading everything pull your friend into the clubhouse it doesn't matter

where your friend is going to stand let your friend launch a mission he's going

to launch tighten up a job that's what everybody does because it's the first

mission be careful on the Xbox one you do have a

black screen that comes up if that black screen comes up and you refuse it you're

going to have a hard time joining your friend by pulling up the menu and saying

join friend in session because you just refuse that invite so if that happens to

you and that did happen to me pull up your friends list and try to join

somebody session until you get that black screen that says are you sure you

want to join your progress is going to be saved back out and then go to your

your original friend the one that's sitting with you in the clubhouse I'll

try that again it's going to work for you then you guys on the PlayStation 4

you need to let me know if this bullshit is happening there okay because this is

some bullshit right here Microsoft huh what the hell man or is a

GTA I honestly don't know it's probably Microsoft we blame it on them they're a

multi-billion dollar company and we gotta blame it on them baby alright so

now we're going to do it alright we're going to have we're going to fix spot

number one we get a move over spot number two we're going to click one time

the game is asking us are you sure you want to click it to the position the

bike here I'm going to say nothing right now I'm going to wait I'm going to pull

up my menu and say join my friend who's sitting in Tison of a job once I launch

off I click a once click it again to pick that same bike move down on the

d-pad and confirm on the third one all right and like I told you guys I hit

this on the first time on the first time now your friend is going to back added a

mission and you're going to back out but you're going to spawn down in the docks

you're not going to be nowhere near your Clubhouse your friends perspectives as

you can see he can see the expensive bike but the other bikes are invisible

and it's going to be looking like that on his screen until you walk into your

Clubhouse now in my case if I want to confirm what the hell happen I got to

remember I gotta have my brain working a little bit ok I had that bike in spot

number three if I had it in spot number three and I moved it obviously it's not

there anymore the one that's in spot number three is a dummy the make matters

even easy when you're confirming to buy and you fag you you're only replacing a

fag you you're never replacing the original bike if you see an expensive

bike in there never hover over that name never replace it so I replaced spot

number three that the bike was and I replaced a fag

you with a fag you baby now you just have to take a drive over to your

Clubhouse and wait for this vehicle to spawn once you go into your Clubhouse

check this out boys and girls you got two bikes that are super expensive but

you're not done yet there's one one final step to confirm that this bike is

actually the expensive bike if you go to the blue circle you can see that it's

still registered as a faggio in the game you need to get on the bike you need to

get into your mod shop get a plate on it and you are good to go now you can go

back to the blue circles check that out and note that it's exactly the bike that

you wanted you got a duplicate right there it's a very easy glitch once you

get used to it it shouldn't take you more than two minutes to duplicate every

bike or maybe okay let's say five minutes because we gotta wait on the

bike to duplicate so there you have it boys if you want to have your name put

down in the comment section so you can ask for a person to help you on the same

system that you're playing on so if you're an Xbox you probably need some

Xbox players PlayStation 4 players probably have to hook up with each other

so do drop your gamertag and what system you're playing on and people do reach

out to each other and you can help each other before this thing gets patched if

you want to test this all right you guys Clubhouse duplication glitch a lot of

money as you can see the bike sells for sells for a lot of money this is one of

the most expensive bikes in the game when it comes to getting a resale value
