Abdullah bin Masood says,
Whoever is gonna follow a path
should follow the path of the one's who died
because the living could fail in the trials
Those are the companions of Muhammad(SAW)
Abdullah ibn Masood is telling the taabayn
For as a second greatest generartion
He is telling them don't follow the living among you
Even though some of them might be Awliya of Allah Azzawazal
Some of them might be righteous, Mujahiddeen, Ulama
Abbas, Abdullah ibn Masood is telling them don't follow the living among you but follow the death
The Companions of RasoolAllah(SAW)
Why? because there is no guarantee this person is living within fail in some of his trials
But for Sahaba, they have been given the stamp of approval
See if anyone who is living you never know what the outcome would be
Because RasoolAllah(SAW) says there are some people who would be earn the track of people of Jannah
They do what the people of Jannah do
But before they die, they commit the actions of people of Hell Fire, and then they end up going to Hell Fire
Why? they fail in Fitnah, trials
Everyone is gonna be face with trials and nobody knows what the outcome of that would be
And that's why RasoolAllah(SAW) use to say
To those who changes the hearts, make our heats touch fast on Islam
The heart, the word (Qalb) in Arabic means something that changes, overturns, goes up and down
So, Abdullah ibn Masood says, follow the Companions of RasoolAllah(SAW)
He was saying this in the time of the Tabayn, which was the second best generation, What should we say today?
No one has a guarantee, that they are gonna go to Jannah, Nobody
But the ones, who were with the RasoolAllah(SAW)
The ones, who were in (Battle of Badr)
The ones, who gave him Bayyah under Ar-Ridhwan
The ones, who fought with him the ones, who had patience with him
The ones whom when RasoolAllah(SAW) died
RasoolAllah(SAW) was pleased with them this are the ones we should follow
And than he gives us some other reasons why we should follow them, he says
They were the best of this Ummah
RasoolAllah(SAW) says, the best of generation is my generation, this are the best
And they have the most pious, there hearts have the most Taqwa
No one can compete with the Sahaba in the taqwa
They have achieved the highest limits
And they have the deepest knowledge
None of the people came after the the Sahaba has the depth of knowledge that the Sahaba has
They have an edge over everyone one of us
They were there when the ayats of Quran were coming down
They lived it, they experienced it first hand
Therefore, everybody comes after the Sahaba is scratching the service of Knowledge
But the Sahaba has the Depth of it
There understanding was deep
And when you have deep understanding it makes you out of the life, and your actions better than somebody who might have more Knowledge than you do
And that's why we should follow the action of the Sahaba's because they had the deepest Knowledge
RasoolAllah(SAW) when he passed away, he didn't leave any glamorous buildings
The masjid of Madinah was mud
And the floor was sand
And the roof was Palm leafs
And it drip rain water on them, when it rains
RasoolAllah(SAW) did not made any roads, he didn't established a financial network of business
He didn't leave behind books, all what RasoolAllah(SAW) left behind was Quran
And he left behind not in Mushaf, not in books but he left it behind in the hearts of Sahaba's
That was the product that RasoolAllah(SAW) left behind, that was the effort of the Dawah of the RasoolAllah(SAW)
He left behind the Sahaba
And every blessing that we enjoy today is a result of that
