Space Warfare: America could soon have a new branch of the military protecting outer space

Members of Congress have laid the groundwork for the U.S Air Force to establish a new branch

of the military, known as a Space Corps, by January of 2019.

The proposal came from Congressmen Mike Rogers, R-Ala., and Jim Cooper.

D-Tenn., the top representatives of the Strategic Forces Subcommittee, which oversees military

space operations.

They introduced the legislation into the House Armed Services Committee National Defense

Authorization Act (NDAA) on Tuesday.

According to a joint statement by Rogers and Cooper, the Space Corps would reorganize the

national security space enterprise to ensure prioritization of the space domain by creating

a U.S. Space Corps as a separate military service within the Department of the Air Force

and under the civilian leadership of the Secretary of the Air Force.

"There is bipartisan acknowledgement that the strategic advantages we derive from our

national security space systems are eroding," the statement said, "We are convinced that

the Department of Defense is unable to take the measures necessary to address these challenges

effectively and decisively, or even recognize the nature and scale of its problems."

Rogers told Space News As Ive been chairing this subcommittee for the last four years,

we have seen time and again that our ability to meet new challenges in space is lethargic

at best.

Space would fall under the command of its own chief, equal in rank to the Chief of Staff

of the Air Force, who would sit on the Joint Chiefs of Staff and answer to the Secretary

of the Air Force.

But Air Force leaders are rejecting the plan.

The Pentagon is complicated enough, Air Force Secretary Heather Wilson told reporters

following her testimony in front of the Senate Defense Appropriations Subcommittee.

This will make it more complex, add more boxes to the organization chart and cost more

money.

If I had more money, I would put it into lethality, not bureaucracy.

TRUMP SIGNS LAW TO MAKE VA MORE ACCOUNTABLE

An Air Force statement, sent to Fox News on Wilsons behalf, said, "I could not agree

more that now is the time to address the threats our nation faces in space, which is why the

Air Force has proposed a 20 percent increase in space funding in this year's budget, and

announced last week a reorganization that integrates, elevates and normalizes space."

When Air Force Chief of Staff General David Goldfein was asked at a Senate Armed Services

Subcommittee on Strategic Forces hearing, some space advocates these days are calling

for space corps, something like the structure of the Marines within the Navy.

Do you support that, or do you think we should take a pass? he responded Sir, I do

not support it at this time in our history and went on to say Whether there is a time

in our future when we want to take a look at this again, I would say that we probably

ought to keep that dialogue open.

But right now, I think it would actually move us in the wrong direction and slow us down

from where we need to go.

Fox News went back to Rogers and Cooper about the Air Force opposition to their legislation.

Cooper did not return a request for comment and Rogers sent a statement saying:

My subcommittee has studied this issue for months.

Congressman Cooper and I have met with space experts and space leaders and have concluded

that Congress must intervene to help address the significant flaws in the organization

and management of our national security space.

I am outraged by the response from the Air Force leadership I know creating the Space

Corps will take work, but they are completely out of touch if they truly believe the U.S.

can keep up with China or Russia if we do not do move forward with Space Corps.

In fact, China and Russia are also ahead of us in terms of reorganizing their military

space capabilities.

The United States will fall further behind because space is the future for warfare.

The Air Force already has a Space Command, but if this new legislation makes it through

votes in the House and Senate, and is signed into law by the president, then the U.S. will

have a separate military service responsible for national security space programs for which

the Air Force is today responsible.

GOP Moderates May Have Upper Hand On Health Care Bill, Analyst Says | TODAY - Duration: 4:25.

ANSWER. >> PETE WILLIAMS FOR US.

WE HAVE A LITTLE BIT TO CHEW ON WITH NICOLLE WALLACE AND JOSH

EARNEST. GOOD MORNING TO BOTH OF YOU.

LET'S START WITH HEALTH CARE. HOW IS MITCH McCONNELL'S

STRATEGY PLAYING OUT? AND WITH THE TUG-OF-WAR GOING ON

BETWEEN MODERATES AND

CONSERVATIVES, WHO HAS THE UPPER HAND?

>> I THINK PETER'S PIECE LAYS IT TO BEAR.

IF YOU MAKE IT FEEL LIKE A REPEAL OF OBAMACARE, IT TUMBLES

BAUDS OF THE MODERATES. NOT JUST THE MODERATES, THEY

WORRY ABOUT THE MEDICATE DOLLARS.

THEY FALL OFF. YOU IF YOU PUT THINGS BACK ON

TOP, IT FALLS OVER FROM THE WEIGHT.

>> WHO HAS THE MOST POWER RIGHT NOW?

>> I WOULD SAY THERE'S MORE MODERATES.

AND PEOPLE LIKE TED CRUZ AND RAND PAUL ARE LOOKING AHEAD TO

2020. AND IT'S ALMOST LIKE A STARING

MATCH. I DON'T KNOW IF THEY'RE

GETTABLE. >> THE PRESIDENT USED THE WORD

MEAN IN AN INTERVIEW TO TALK -- >> HE'S BRANDED THE HEALTH CARE

BILL. >> HE USED THAT FOR THE HOUSE

BILL. HOW DOES THIS UNDERCUT HIS

EFFORTS TO PUSH THIS THROUGH USING THAT WORD MEAN?

>> IT TOTALLY UNDERCUTS THE EFFORTS.

WE PINNED OUR HOPES TO THE IDEA THAT AS THE BILL GOT IMPLEMENTED

IN 2009, THE BILL WOULD BECOME MORE POPULAR AS PEOPLE

UNDERSTOOD WHAT WAS IN IT. THE REPUBLICANS HAVE THE

OPPOSITE DYNAMIC NOW. THEY'RE TRYING TO RAM THROUGH

THIS BILL BEFORE PEOPLE KNOW WHAT'S IN IT BECAUSE AS PEOPLE

UNDERSTAND WHAT'S IN THE BILL AND HOW THEY'RE AFFECTED BY IT,

IT WILL BE LESS POPULAR THAN IT ALREADY IS.

>> YOU GET THE CBO SCORE BEFORE THE VOTE TAKES PLACE.

THERE WILL BE MORE INFORMATION FOR THEM TO CHEW ON.

>> McCONNELL'S STRATEGY IS CLEAR.

HE'S TRYING TO RUSH THIS BEFORE THE FOURTH OF JULY RECESS

BECAUSE IT WILL TAKE ON MORE WATER.

>> FOR A VERY LONG TIME, PRESIDENT TRUMP DOES NOT ADMIT

THAT THE RUSSIANS MEDDLED IN THE ELECTION.

NOW, HE'S WILLING TO SAY, THEY MEDDLED AND IF THEY DID, IT'S

YOUR FORMER BOSS' FAULT, PRESIDENT OBAMA.

LOOKING BACK AND ACCORDING TO THIS "WASHINGTON POST" STORY,

PRESIDENT OBAMA WAS AWARE THAT VLADIMIR PUTIN HIMSELF WAS

DIRECTING SOME OF THAT MEDDLING. DID PRESIDENT OBAMA DO ENOUGH?

>> WELL, MATT, WHAT IS -- WHAT MAKES IT HARD TO TAKE PRESIDENT

TRUMP'S CRITIQUE SERIOUSLY IS THAT WE KNOW WHAT RESPONSE WAS

MOBILIZED BY THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION IS SOMETHING

PRESIDENT TRUMP WAS TRYING TO UNDERMINE BEFORE HE TOOK OFFICE.

>> EVEN DEMOCRATS ARE SAYING NOT ENOUGH HAPPENED.

YOU HAVE A TOP OFFICIAL QUOTED IN "THE WASHINGTON POST" STORY

SAYING WE CHOKED ON THIS. >> MATT, THE THING THAT PEOPLE

NEED TO UNDERSTAND ABOUT THIS IS IT'S TOTALLY UNPRECEDENTED.

IT'S NOT UNUSUAL FOR RUSSIA'S -- RUSSIANS TO ENGAGE IN TRYING TO

DESTABILIZE OUR DEMOCRACY OR MESS AROUND IN CYBERSPACE.

IT IS UNPRECEDENTED FOR THEM TO HACK THE E-MAILS AND RELEASE

THEM WITH A CLEAR POLITICAL MOTIVE.

WHAT'S IMPORTANT IS THAT WE LEARN THE LESSONS OF WHAT

HAPPENED IN 2016. WE ALLOWED PEOPLE TO TO CAST TH

BALLOTS TO REGISTER AND TO HAVE THE VOTES COUNTED WITHOUT

INTERFERENCE. BUT WE NEED TO GO BACK AND TAKE

A LOOK AT THIS HACK AND LEAK STRATEGY THAT THE RUSSIANS USED

THAT DID HAVE AN IMPACT ON THE 2016 ELECTION.

THEY CAN'T DO IT AGAIN. >> ANYTHING ELSE?

>> REAL QUICK. THERE'S RUMORS THAT THE SUPREME

COURT JUDGE MAY RETIRE AND ANNOUNCE IT TODAY.

WHAT KIND OF BATTLE WILL THERE BE TO REPLACE HIM?

DESCRIBE WHAT WILL HAPPEN? >> THERE WERE SOME DEMOCRATS

THAT THOUGHT THE FIGHT OVER NEIL GORSUCH WAS A WASTED ONE.

THE REAL FIGHT IS THE NEXT ONE. KENNEDY IS A SWING VOTER THAT

SIDES WITH THE DEMOCRATS. HIS VOTE IS REALLY IMPORTANT IF

YOU'RE ON THE LEFT OR IN THE MIDDLE.

I'M HEARING THE RUMORS THAT PETE WILLIAMS IS HEARING.

THE THING THAT GIVES KENNEDY BACKERS SOME CONFIDENCE THAT A

RESIGNATION WOULD BE SOUND UNDER THIS PRESIDENT IS THE COMFORT

THAT ALL SORT OF CONSERVATIVES FEEL ABOUT THE CALIBER AND THE

QUALITY OF THE MAN THAT DONALD TRUMP ALREADY PICKED, NEIL

GORSUCH. BUT IT TERRIFIES PEOPLE IN THE

MIDDLE AND ON THE LEFT. >> WE'RE READING TEA LEAVES ON

Have You Ever Lost Track of Your Child? - Duration: 1:55.

Last summer, we did lose Jackson at a grocery store.

I actually lost track of her.

So this one time we were at the park and I actually lost Connor.

She tends to get a little distracted.

We were getting some food for dinner.

And you know those tubes that kids can kind of crawl through?

I turn around, and he was gone.

He was gone.

No Mackenzie.

I got super nervous, you know, and...

I started to panic.

I pick up my cell phone, call the school.

And then he showed up.

And then he shows up.

DIRECTOR: Do you still take him places?

I want to let him explore, but I just get so nervous.

I'm not sure, really, what to do.

I don't want to put on a leash, or anything like that.

My friends, and even my husband have joked about putting a chip in him. Which is...

BOY: A chip?!

Which is a little ridiculous... but is it?

DIRECTOR: Have you heard of Jiobit?

Jiobit?

Jiobit?

DIRECTOR: It's a location tracker for kids.

BOY: It's so small.

Let's try it.

DIRECTOR: It's linked to your smartphone. So this is the app, and we've already set it up for you.

Oh look, there I am, and there you are, sweetie!

How long does the battery last for this Jiobit?

DIRECTOR: Over a week before you recharge.

Really??

DIRECTOR: That's follow me mode. It's kind of like a virtual leash. It lets you know when he's gone too far.

I would actually use this.

There he is! Hi sweetie!

Now what if we're in a big shopping mall with multiple levels? Can we still use this to find him?

DIRECTOR: Yep!

Really!

This makes me want to take him places, places that I've been too afraid to take him to.

This is like having a second pair of eyes.

Looks like he's on the side of the garden shed, probably digging for rollie pollies.

Predicted US Housing Bubble Issues Warning " We Probably Will Have A Recession Next Year 2018"" - Duration: 3:13.

There's really only one thing that has been keeping the US economy from melting down since

the last recession.

It's the abundance of cheap money that has been flushed into the economy by the Federal

Reserve.

Until recently their interest rate was near zero, and has steadily climbed to a paltry

1% over the past couple of years.

This can't go on indefinitely, because low interest rates tend to create bubbles.

However, raising the interest rate isn't going to have pretty results either, at least

according to David Rosenberg.

He's the chief economist at Gluskin Sheff, a Canadian wealth management fund.

He's also somewhat famous for saying that the US was in the midst of a housing bubble

several years before it burst.

So it's safe to say that he knows his stuff.

During a recent interview, he revealed that out of the past 13 recessions, the Fed increased

interest rates just before 10 of them.

In light of that trend, he stated that we're probably going to have another recession very

soon.

"I think what people should be focused on is the shape of the yield curve," Rosenberg

said.

"[Every] single inversion of the yield curve, where short-term rates go above long-term

interest rates, has presaged a recession—every single time."

The three times where rate hikes did not lead to recessions, he noted, were due to the Fed

stopping short of inverting the yield curve.

At the moment, Rosenberg suggested, "the yield curve is flat enough that if the Fed

raises rates four more times, that's all it takes.

We probably will have a recession next year."

Looking at the dot plots shows that more than 50% of all FOMC [Federal Open Market Committee]

officials are ready to raise rates four more times going into 2018, so "the risk isn't

necessarily high right now, but it is rising."

This certainly won't be an ordinary recession.

For starters, the vast majority of the country hasn't even recovered from the last recession.

Our economy is like a wounded animal.

It can't take much more damage.

But it's going to.

The inflationary practices of the Federal Reserve has spawned multiple bubbles.

And once they cut off the supply of easy money, those bubbles are going to pop.

It'll be like cutting off a junky.

The results will be messy, and nothing will be safe.

Bonds, stocks, real estate, and even the dollar will take a dive.

The only asset that will be left standing is precious metals.

And in all likelihood, President Trump will take the blame for this mess.

Everyone will forget that it was years of abysmal fiscal policy that got us into this

situation.

Unfortunately, there is only one way out.

Our country is going to have to bite the bullet, and endure a protracted economic correction

that is probably going to hollow out our standard of living.

In short, things are going to get a lot worse before they get better.

Liverpool will have to shatter the Bundesliga transfer record to tempt Leipzig into Naby Keita sale - Duration: 4:09.

Liverpool will have to shatter the Bundesliga transfer record to tempt Leipzig into Naby Keita sale

The German side are in a powerful financial and sporting position so have no need to sell the Guinean, who wants to consider his options this summer.

Liverpool's determination to sign Naby Keita is being met with difficulty as RB Leipzig have been unyielding in discussions regarding the sale of the all-action midfielder.

The 22-year-old, who has received proposals beyond the Anfield club's interest, is open to leaving the Red Bull Arena this summer to fulfil the career trajectory he has envisioned.

Goal broke the news of the player's status as a premier target for Jurgen Klopp ahead of the new campaign on March 1, but at present, prising away the Guinea international will be arduous.

Liverpool have been prepared to smash their highest spend and offer in the region of £50 million to secure Keita, whom the Reds boss believes is among the very best in the world in the centre of the park.

However, Leipzig - in a powerful financial and sporting position - want to build around the dynamo and are adamant in advancing their ambitions.

6, who is equally adept at operating in a box-to-role role or as a playmaker, would not actively seek an exit from Die Bullen given their presence in the Champions League, their enterprising philosophy as well as his standing among an exciting team. .

He does, however, want to explore the options he has this summer and take the next step in his career if he decides so.

It is understood that if Leipzig became resigned to losing Keita, they could potentially be enticed if Liverpool smashed the Bundesliga record for a transfer.

Money does not appeal to them, but having that bit of history might appeal while also will confirm their reputation as hardline negotiators.

The €75m sale of Kevin de Bruyne to Manchester City from Wolfsburg is the current benchmark, with that deal worth £55m in 2015.

The current exchange rate pushes the figure up by £11m, and bettering it would only be a starting point for an agreement given the premium on elite talent in the window. .

Keita, meanwhile, will be following the situation of team-mate Emil Forsberg with interest, as the Sweden international wants to depart the club.

Leipzig have insisted neither player is for sale, but a softening of their stance on the 25-year-old may lead to the Guinean requesting the same courtesy.

If they part with one member of their core, though, the understanding is the intention will then be to double down. The resolve of both the Bundesliga outfit and Liverpool will be tested over Keita in what could become an exhausting exercise.

The Reds have already undertaken the smart signing of Under-20 World Cup winner Dominic Solanke from Chelsea, with a compensation fee expected to be decided by tribunal, and the thrilling club-record recruitment of Mohamed Salah.

They are resolute on continuing to enhance the quality of the team as they look to further advance under Klopp, while also being tough in terms of outgoings as was the case last summer.

Southampton have joined Newcastle in the race to sign Arsenal defender Calum Chambers - Duration: 3:22.

Southampton have joined Newcastle in the race to sign Arsenal defender Calum Chambers as they eye up Virgil van Dijk replacement

SOUTHAMPTON will rival Newcastle for Arsenal centre-back Calum Chambers as the Saints target a replacement for Virgil van Dijk.

The 22-year-old is currently excelling in Poland in the Under-21 European Championship, and will be likely be shipped off on loan again this summer.

Arsenal defender Calum Chambers could be on his way out of the Emirates on another loan deal this summer.

The 22-year-old has impressed in the Under-21 European Championships where he has been a key player for Aidy Boothroyds men.

He impressed on loan at Middlesbrough last season despite Boro being relegated from the Premier League, and Arsene Wenger is keen for the England international to get much-needed game time.

Chambers, who was sold by the Saints for £16million in 2014, could be heading back to St Marys with van Dijk likely to depart the South Coast this summer.

Liverpool hold a firm interest in the Dutch star with Southampton holding out for around £70million, while Antonio Conte has reportedly offered £60m for the 25-year-old.   Virgil Van Dijk scores FA Cup goal for Southampton against Norwich.

Southampton are targeting their former star this summer as a possible replacement for Virgil van Dijk.

Calum Chambers impressed on loan for Middlesbrough last season despite them being relegated back to the Sky Bet Championship.

According to the Chronicle Live, the Magpies are also desperate to bring the talented defender in, while they also hold an interest in Ben Gibson and Ryan Shawcross.

Chambers would be limited to a handful of first team opportunities at the Gunners next season, with Laurent Koscielny, Shkodran Mustafi, Rob Holding, Gabriel and Per Mertesacker all ahead in the pecking order at the Emirates.

However the latter has recently suggested he could retire from the game after revealing he is mentally wasted after an injury-ridden campaign.

Calum Chambers will be looking to shine once again for his country when Aidy Boothroyds men take on Germanys Under-21 side in the semi-final on Tuesday evening.

Will Skateboarding Have a Primetime TV Show Again? + Lightning Round #AskRadRat 64 - Duration: 6:31.

This time on Ask Rad Rat we're going to figure out if skateboarding will ever be popular

not to have its own TV show and another lightning round of questions so let's just get right

into it. Welcome to Rad Rat Video! Here on the channel

every Monday we usually have a full video are researched about game reviews, trick histories,

all that kind of stuff. This I'm going to do an extra Ask Rad Rat. I've been doing a

lot of and a lot trick tips on the Shred School on Fridays so people have been missing having

some more Ask Rad Rats, plus the video I was gonna do today, I've been researching it for

months and I just haven't gotten the actual correct answer yet. I'll tell you all about

that we get to it. Been doing so much research for this one but hopefully will be worth it

when it's finally done. So got a lot of questions for you today lightning round first from Mac

and Shea Mac and Shea so first one: best video by shoe company? I would have to say Osiris

the Storm. If you haven't seen that, it is a must watch is one of the best skateboarding

videos of all time in my opinion. Best skater who hasn't won skater of the year I may go

with Jerry Hsu. He had some crazy video parts back in the day but you never won anything

in 2006 the Enjoi video Bag of Suck, he got best video part and the readers choice award

but he didn't actually get skater of the year. I think he probably deserved it.

Best cover photo? I used to read Transworld a lot back in the day. I never really got

into Thrasher and the other ones, I got some Big Brothers too, but my favorite was the

Primo slide cover from August 2004. I think Mullen reused that for his book later but

that picture is really cool because they actually did something unique. It probably would been

easy to take but really hard to set it up with the camera under the glass, like all

that stuff that they did. I just that that was cool. It's really iconic. Aside from that

I was trying to figure of the first Transworld I got which was probably mid 2001. I would

guess. There is this one Transworld: I got sick, I had the flu, and I read it over and

over and over and that one if I saw it again I'll recognize it. I just I wasn't able to

find it so I can show you it but that one is kind of iconic to me, just for that reason.

It was not necessarily that special. OK, on to the second part. This is from Kimmy

Jimmel who asked me about the show called "Skate", which is either 'SK8' or just the

word 'skate', depending on where you live. It was like a major network TV show in 2001

and his question is: do you think skateboarding will ever get that popular again, to the point

where they make a TV show? So I remember there was that show, which I

I don't think I'd ever seen before, he showed me trailer. And there was another one, I want

to saw it was called 'Grind'. I know there is a movie called "Grind", but it was another

TV show right around that time and I remember that because it inspired me to do my first

50-50. Because there was this scene where the guys are just skating around or whatever

and the guy just Ollies on a rail, he just rides and he falls off the end. It made it

seem so easy, and I never done one before. So what I did was, I got twp 2x4s and a 2x6

I think is what I did. So I did the 2 x 6 flat, the two 2 x 4s like this. Then I had

some angle iron on both sides. The angle Iron was really really thin, basically a half step

up from tinfoil and so I like nailed down and went kind of went like this because all

the nails kindly pushed in and if you tried to grind and you'd sink in and all the stuff.

It was just the worst skate obstacle ever made, but that show just got me, you know,

thinking about how easy they made it look. I just have to be able to go out there and

do that! So I made that and it kind of inspired me to do my first grind. It was really hard

because you'd sink into it but I finally got one. And you know I remember that, being inspired

by one of those shows. But the question is: is it ever going to get

to that point where they make another show like that? And I really don't think it will.

I mean, it depends. I would've never guessed that Glee would've been a thing. You know,

like a show choir shoe. Who would've thought that that would be a thing?

The thing is, skateboarding is kind of in this spot between being like a weird outsider

edgy thing that you might make a show about, that people would want to learn more about

it because it's this weird insider culture. And it's also not super popular like football.

You can make a show about football. Everyone knows football in all the rules. They understand

what's going on with it. You can have a show where all the characters play football and

make sense. Skateboarding is not really at that point, in either of those points, so

I don't see it really being a point of a show in the future. Especially considering that

this one, and the one I'm remembering, didn't do that well. Of course I it was 16 years

ago. But I don't think it can happen for a long

time but let me know your pitch for a skateboard TV show. I would be interested in seeing what

you would do. All I could think, it would be like a high school drama with a characters

just happen to skate to be an excuse to get them to go to new places. Like they're on

tour they're going to Tampa Am for the storyline. I just don't know what the show look like.

And what would be the point of it? Why does have to be about skateboarding? So if you

got an idea for that, let me know below. Maybe some network executives will be reading it

they'll try to make something cool. So those are the questions for this time.

If you have any for next time, find me on Instagram below, I also have a Twitter. Although,

Twitter very helpfully started blocking all the DMs I got and I think I have it figured

out at this point. But I missed weeks worth of them. So if you asked me a question and

I never answered you, send it again. It was being weird.

So either twitter and Instragram those questions there. DM and I will answer the next time.

So that's it for this time here some more videos you might want to watch. There's a

whole playlist of these at this point so check all those out and thank you for watching.

Have a small umbrella handy, sudden showers in store - Duration: 1:48.

Good afternoon.

You will need a small umbrella handy today Sudden showers are in store once again along

with thunder and lightning... and temperatures will be similar to yesterday.

Let's take a closer look.

Seoul, Daegu and Gwangju will make it to 28 degrees Celsius while Daejeon will get up

to 29 degrees.

Starting Sunday,... much of the country will be affected by monsoon rain while Jeju and

southern regions will see frequent showers through the week.

Summertime calls most of us to spend time outdoors... and it's also about that time

we need to fight mosquitoes... one tip to avoid getting bitten is to wear light-colored

clothes... as these colors are less attractive to mosquitoes.

With that in mind, let's take a look at the international weather for viewers around the

world.

While a mix of sunshine and rain clouds are expected for most regions in South Korea,

many regions in North Korea will also have unstable weather conditions.

on this Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Melbourne and Wellington will be under partly sunny skies with highs of 13

degrees Celsius.

Heading to North America, New York and Washington DC will have similar weather conditions along

with highs in the mid twenties.

For South America, those in Rio de Janeiro will have a pleasant day under bright skies.

Taking you to Europe, London and Paris will have a wet day with relatively cooler highs.

Lastly to Africa, weather conditions in Dakar will be similar to here in Seoul.

That's the weather update for now.

ASL Car Talk with Ed Chevy #1 - Have Car, Will Travel - Duration: 3:32.

Hello and welcome to ASL Car Talk.

I'm Ed Chevy and I'm here to help you

understand your car better.

Last week I introduced you to the list of

topics that you're going to learn and understand better.

What are we going to talk about today?

Have Car, Will Travel.

What does it mean?

It means that if you have a car, you can go anywhere

and do many different things.

Cars are really wonderful! You can take it anywhere you'd like to go.

But, you need to have a driver's license.

I'll explain driver's licenses later.

First, how did cars get started?

A while ago in Europe

during the 1700s, people complained about horses.

They wanted to switch from horses to cars.

Something that could move itself.

So they started experimenting with engines

until one day Germany invented the first automobile.

Today, cars have changed throughout the years.

Always improving

and becoming more comfortable now

that cars have everything you could ever want or need

in your own little personal space.

Now that you have a car... do you have a driver's license?

Driver's licenses are important.

Really important.

Because it's also your personal ID.

How do I get a driver's license?

Well... you can go to the DMV.

The Department of Motor Vehicles.

They will give you some requirements to meet.

They will also give you a written exam and a driving test

with an instructor.

They'll make sure you obey the laws and make sure you can parallel park.

And make sure you know who has the right of way.

The driving instructor will watch you and either pass or fail you.

You will also need to take an exam.

Answer the questions correctly

and if you pass, you will get your new driver's license.

It's not expensive.

Unlike a pilot's license, whoa... ten thousand dollars!

A driver's license is nothing compared to that.

Having your own personal driver's license

lets you drive anywhere you like, with family, or visit friends.

Or go shopping, or enjoy a nice day out.

A car really is wonderful!

Next week, I will explain how to buy a new or used car.

Should I go to a dealer or a private owner?

If you're unsure about those things

I can explain and help you to understand what you really want.

Ok then! See you next week!

Ok, bye!
