Man Utd Transfer News: Jose Mourinho won't pursue second centre-back deal

Manchester United confirmed last night they had reached an agreement to sign Benfica defender Victor Lindelof. The Sweden international has been a long-standing target for Jose Mourinho, who tried to bring him to Old Trafford in the January window.

United have been mulling over a number of defensive targets, including Burnley's Michael Keane and Southampton star Virgil van Dijk. But according to Sky Sports, Mourinho won't pursue any other deals for centre halves.

It is said the Portuguese tactician is pleased with the options he has at the back. Therefore, he doesn't feel it a necessity to sign a second central defender.

United have been keeping tabs on Keane, who they sold to Burnley two years ago after he failed to convince former Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal he had a future with the club.

Sky Sports claim Keane is now Everton's top defensive target. It is said the Toffees are yet to make a formal offer, but Ronald Koeman has been tracking the 24-year-old since January.

As far as Van Dijk is concerned, Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea have all been chasing deals.

Liverpool made an illegal approach for the Dutchman which infuriated Saints.

And now City, reports have claimed, are refusing to stump up the cash for Van Dijk after he was valued at £70m.

Pokémon Explained► Primarina isn't a Mermaid! The Selkie of the Seas! w/@Aegislash3r - Duration: 3:01.

You know I used to think Primarina was a mermaid, but apparently it isn't.

Sometimes the simplest solution is the answer, but that may not be true for Primarina.

Now before we get the answers we need to get something out of the way.

Popplio and Brionne are Hawaiian monk seals, an endangered species of earless seal that

is endemic to the Hawaiian Islands.

I always felt it was weird that a couple of seals evolved into a mermaid, wouldn't it

be a fish or something.

Well that's because Primarina isn't a mermaid but a selkie.

Selkies are mythological creatures found in Irish and Scottish folklore.

Selkies were said to live as seals in the sea, but shed their skin to become human on

land.

Female selkies were said to make excellent wives, but because their true home is the

sea, they will often be seen gazing longingly at the ocean.

If a man steals a female selkie's skin she is in his power and is forced to become his

wife.

Dude no means no.

Seriously why would you want to marry a seal anyway.

However, If she finds her skin she will immediately return to her true home.

You go girl!!!

Well that pretty much explains Primarina, but what about its singing.

Let's get Rotom Dex in here.

Its Pokedex indicates: It controls its water balloons with song.

The melody is learned from others of its kind and is passed down from one generation to

the next."

Sometimes, when a selkie maiden is taken as a wife by a human man, she has several children

by him.

In these stories, its stated that one of her children discovers her sealskin (often unwitting

of its significance) and she soon returns to the sea.

The selkie woman usually avoids seeing her human husband again (I don't blame here) but

is sometimes shown visiting her children and playing with them in the waves.

She bades her children farewell but tells them that they would be able to hear her singing

from time to time, as they were half-selkie themselves.

Selkies are much tamer and more gentle than their mermaid and siren counterparts, and

its likely this is because of those cultures who believed in Selkies lived very close to

the sea.

All in all selkies back stories are kinda sad.

Forced marriage ain't cool.

How to Configure a DeEsser to Get Rid of Harsh "S" and "T" Sounds in Your Podcast - Duration: 4:01.

Hi it's Jody from Vining Creative.

In our last video we talked about proper gain staging as our first step in setting up a

proer audio chain for your podcast.

Our next link takes care of one of the sounds that can easily (and frequently do) fatigue

a listeners ears - and that is the sound of "sibilance."

Sibilance is the harsh "s" "t" or "z" sounds that can be exacerbated by

certain microphones or voice types.

After setting your gain, its the next link in your audio chain - and I'm going to show

you how to clear up some of that ear exhausting sibilance - right now.

First - couple tips to reduce sibilance before your audio even hits your processing chain.

Don't place the mic too close to your or your talents mouth (this can be tough with Dyanmic

mics so experiment with mic distance), and if using a condenser microphone, angle the

microphone so its not direclty in line with your mouth.

You should be speak over or uner the microphone at about a 45 degree angle.

Fixing problems at the recording stage is ALWAYS the best way.

Most de-essers, whether hardware or software based work about the same way - but they frequently

present the information a little differently.

They all zero in on the frequency range of the sibilant sounds you're trying to get

rid of (usually around 2khz to 8khz) and reduce the amplitude of that sound so that it doesn't

pierce your listeners ears.

In our example here, I'll be showing you how to configure the de-esser that's built in

to the Midas M32 and Behringer X32 Digital Mixers, as well as the Waves DeEsser plugin.

However, the general concepts are basically the same across all hardware and software

plugin based deessers.

First - let's make sure your de-esser is either turned on if you're using a hardware based

de-esser, or enabled if you're using a plugin based one.

Then - we're either going to loop a section of audio with obvious sibilance, or we can

use our micrphone to create the sibilant sounds we're trying to reduce.

In our M32 example - you can see the De-Esser is laid out very simply with just 2 basic

options, and a selection for Male or Female.

The "low band reduction" will reduce the sounds in the lower end of the sibilance range (about

3-6khz), and the high band reduction will reduce sounds in the higher range (about 7-10khz).

The more you turn the knob, the more the sibilant frequencies will be reduced.

Simply use your ears, and make adjustments until the sibilance is less pervasive.

In our software plugin example, we'll take a look at the Waves DeEsser plugin, Although

most any DAW comes with its own plugin for de-essing.

Here' you're given the option to choose between split and wideband mode - this is something

you'll find in a lot of de-essers.

This allows you to choose whether to attenuate ONLY the high frequency sounds, or the entire

spectrum of sounds on the track.

It's up to you to choose which sounds better - although I usually use the split mode for

podcasts.

Now you choose the sibilant frequncy you want to reduce (again - use your ears!) - and choose

your threshold.

The threshold is the amplitude level of your chosen frequnecy that will trigger that reduction.

You can see the red "attenuation" meter showing exactly how much that sibilant sound is being

reduced.

Remember - this - and almost everything in audio production - is all about using your

own ears to decide what sounds best.

So listen carefully - and once you have your de-esser dialed in you'll be well on your

way to creating a much more pleasant listening experience for your audience - without all

that harsh sibilance.

noise gate - and hopefully get rid of a lot of that pesky background noise.

any time soon.

Last year the city of Niles

received more than 67-thousand

dollars in grant money

from the state to renovate the

public pool.

But a recent city-wide building

assessment estimated the cost to

fix it came it at more

than a million dollars. City

Service Director Edward Stredney

says

the park director has reached

out to the state to see if they

can reallocate those grant

dollars to something else in the

park.

Hello! So, people who knew me IRL before T

know well that I do the dolphin.

Every time, I impersonate dolphin's cry, that's it.

And everybody loved it, they had fun when I was doing it,

twas cute, twas funny;

but then, I've started T.

My voice have changed.

It's a lot deeper.

Can I still do it? … Here's the question.

Dolphin's cry is very high-pitched,

and I used to be soprano, then it was easy to me to fish for high-pitched sounds.

"to fish", "dolphin"… funny? humour?

Well, what about the dolphin?

There are many of you who asked me for news about the dolphin, how it sounds now…

So yah, I answer you, I show you evolution of dolphin's cry.

So yes I'm able and weird to impersonate dolphin's cry.

So I decided to test it, every month, I'll do the dolphin's cry to check how it progresses.

Right now, before my voice drop, it's like :

Now, there's no one size fits all answer to this question, and in order to find the

best path ahead for you, the first thing you've got to do is get really clear on your goals

– both in the short term and the long term.

  So for instance, if fast growth and a greater

chance of higher revenue more quickly are really important to you right now, focus on

just one business.

I mean, give your everything to that business and trust that you can always start a second

business or you can transition to another business a little further down the road.

  Now, on the other hand, if you're like me

and you must, must, must do more than one thing because both these ideas are just burning

a hole right through your heart, know that you can do that but there are consequences.

Now, the positive ones include being able to strengthen different skills and learn more

about what you like and what you don't like.

But on the downside, you need to be okay with growing each business perhaps a little more

slowly, likely making less money, and you've got to embrace the fact that your life will

probably be a little more messy and chaotic.

  Now, here's an analogy that might help you

decide.

Let's think about this in terms of one of my favorite topics: food.

You can either have one main dish business or a main dish business with a little side

dish business.

  Now, each of them has their pros and cons.

So, for example, if you choose just one main dish business you keep things really simple.

Right?

I mean, everything is on one plate and you always know your next steps or your next bite.

It allows you to really focus.

You can really dig in and most of the time you can move a lot faster.

You do run the risk of a little bit of boredom though.

Now, if you want a main dish and a side dish business, then first you need to decide which

business is going to be the main and which is going to be the side.

Next thing, you've got to realize you're always going to be going back and forth between

the two plates and the meal will likely take a lot longer.

  So it's often more fun when you've got

two dishes because there's variety, but you never know.

You might wind up liking a side dish more than your main dish.

  Are you still working on that main business?

  You know what?

I'm done.

  Would you like it to go?

  Nah.

Not really feeling it.

  Was there something wrong with it?

  You know, it was fine.

I'm just really loving this side business.

You know, can I get this one as an entree?

  Certainly.

Everybody is loving their side business.

  The bottom line, you have a menu of really

great choices in front of you.

And all of them, quite frankly, can be satisfying and fulfilling in their own way.

Now, the secret to making the best choice is to really step back, get ultra clear on

what you most want in your heart both in the short term and the long term, and then make

a choice and have total faith that you are on the perfect path for you.
