Attorney General Jeff Sessions's hearing before the Senate Intelligence Committee.

Both CNN and MSNBC had roughly a million fewer viewers, numbering at 2,218,000 and 2,208,000,

respectively.

Fox grabbed 3,200,000 total viewers, according to Nielsen data provided by the network, and

beat out the other two cable networks in primetime coverage starting at 8 p.m.

Sean Hannity's show, "Hannity," earned a total of 3,076,000 viewers, making it the

top program in primetime.

Although Fox beat CNN and MSNBC in total viewers, it had fewer 25 to 54-year-olds than CNN during

Sessions's hearing.

MSNBC beat out both networks regarding that demographic during the primetime 8 to 11 p.m.

The Real Reason You Don't Hear From Burt Reynolds Anymore - Duration: 5:33.

With acclaimed roles in Deliverance and Smokey and the Bandit, Burt Reynolds's swagger and

charm made him a huge star in the '70s.

But despite his box-office clout and sex symbol status, the once-great star seems to have

faded away.

So, why aren't we seeing more from Burt Reynolds?

Becoming a star

Reynolds began his career in the late '50s and worked steadily in small TV roles through

the '60s, including an episode of The Twilight Zone, playing a cocky actor who gets punched

in the face by a time-traveling Shakespeare.

"What have I got against this personage, Stanislavsky?

You!"

But in 1972, Deliverance gave Reynolds his first major movie role.

However, just before the film was released, Reynolds was invited to pose nude for Cosmopolitan.

It was the first nude male centerfold in a major magazine, and he figured people would

look at and laugh and forget about it a few days later.

But instead of being a laugh riot, it made Reynolds the sex symbol of the '70s.

It also diminished his serious acting accomplishments in Deliverance.

"I was very young and very stupid, and it did not change my career to the better."

Reynolds had become a huge star, but he was never really taken seriously, which would

haunt him for the rest of his career.

A few bad choices

Reynolds' signature 'stache and cocky smile won over male and female fans alike through

the '70s, but by the '80s, his movies were already getting less critical acclaim.

1981's The Cannonball Run featured an all-star cast and made a lot of money — but critics

weren't pleased.

Also released in 1981 was the well-reviewed drama Sharky's Machine, which had Reynolds

as its star.

But he squandered those critical gains by following that up with Best Little Whorehouse

in Texas, the forgettable Best Friends, and the horribly reviewed Stroker Ace.

By the time 1984 rolled around, Reynolds returned for Cannonball Run II, which got even worse

reviews and made $44 million less than the original.

By sticking to a run of mediocre comedies, Reynolds wasn't being taken seriously, and

he could only charm audiences for so long.

And if the first half of the '80s seemed troublesome for Reynolds, the second half only got worse.

Reynolds' work included a cameo in the bizarre Smokey and the Bandit Part 3 and the terribly-reviewed

Rent-A-Cop.

Things didn't get any better from there.

Too many refusals

Over the years, Reynolds turned down a lot of roles that would wind up becoming iconic.

In an interview with Business Insider, Reynolds revealed that he could've played the first

American James Bond, but he felt 007 was a role only an Englishman could play.

And before Harrison Ford took a break from carpentry to play Han Solo, Reynolds was reportedly

offered the role.

In the early 1980s, the male lead in Terms of Endearment was written especially for Reynolds,

but the star said no, as he'd already committed to Stroker Ace.

The role went to Jack Nicholson, and Reynolds regrets his decision even today.

Then in 1990, Reynolds reportedly turned down the starring role in Pretty Woman due to the

age gap between himself and Julia Roberts.

While these choices didn't affect his career at the time, they definitely hurt his legacy.

Instead, Reynolds retreated to TV, starring in sitcoms for much of the late '80s and early

'90s, appearing as a disembodied voice in Out of This World and an ex-football star

in Evening Shade.

He even won his first and only Emmy for his performance in Evening Shade.

Unfortunately, after four seasons, the show went off the air and Reynolds went back to

making bad movies, until 1997.

A thwarted comeback

In 1997, Reynolds got the comeback role of a lifetime.

And no, it wasn't in the Mr. Bean movie.

"But I love my country.

I can't stand the idea of a bunch of Frenchies owning America's greatest painting.

Let's get on with it."

Boogie Nights was the film that made Paul Thomas Anderson a famous director to watch,

and a role in the film gave Reynolds acclaim that he hadn't seen in a long time.

But despite overwhelming critical praise, Reynolds didn't really go anywhere after playing

Jack Horner.

So why didn't Boogie Nights work for Reynolds like Pulp Fiction did for John Travolta?

Well, first of all, Reynolds didn't actually like Boogie Nights.

Reynolds told The Guardian that even though he's never seen the movie all of the way through,

he still hates it, and that working on it was a nightmare, mostly citing creative differences

with Anderson.

Still, Reynolds' rage also extended to the cast, and according to his book But Enough

About Me, Reynolds almost got in a fist fight with co-star Thomas Jane.

Though the shoot was difficult, Anderson had no complaints about Reynolds's performance.

He even offered him a role in his next film, Magnolia, but Reynolds turned it down, saying,

"I'd done my picture with Paul Thomas Anderson, that was enough for me."

Personal problems

In addition to his spotty film career, things were also pretty difficult in Reynolds's personal

life.

After marrying actress Loni Anderson in 1988, the couple divorced in 1993.

It was not amicable, and Reynolds called the marriage, quote, "a really dumb move" while

Anderson lobbed accusations of abuse.

When the smoke cleared, Reynolds agreed to pay Anderson a little under $250,000, though

he didn't complete the transaction right away.

It took 22 years for Reynolds to complete his payments.

In 1996, the actor filed for bankruptcy, but was able to keep his large ranch in Florida,

which he eventually sold anyhow.

By 2014, money was still a problem, so he held an auction of some of his personal belongings,

including props, costumes, and awards from his films.

However, other items he tried to sell seemed a little more desperate, like his voided credit

card.

He's still busy

Despite these bumps in the road, Reynolds is still working — just not always on the

big screen.

"Burt F------ Reynolds?"

In addition to popping up in a few voice roles, he created the Burt Reynolds Institute, an

acting studio in Florida where aspiring stars can learn from Reynolds himself.

Even now, at over 80 years old, Reynolds recently completed the film Dog Years, and has multiple

films set for release in the near future.

For a guy who's been in the business for six decades, that's incredibly impressive.

Reynolds' star may not shine as bright today as it did 40 years ago, but he's still an

icon who'll always have a place in film history.

And a few bedroom walls.

something that has been going around on the internet mainly Facebook we all know

Facebook is a piece of shit I've seen on tumblr to Twitter all the

great lovely social media sites basically people are arguing that we

should remove the T from LGBT let's just look up that argument for a moment and

deconstruct what they're saying so I believe it started with a petition on

change.org where a group of gay bisexual men and women came together and decided

that the transgender community needs to be dissociated from the larger LGB

community in essence we asked the organizations such as the HRC GLAAD

Lambda Legal and media outlets such as The Advocate, Out, HuffPost gay voices, etc.

stop representing the transgender community as we feel their ideology is

not only completely different from that promoted by the LGB community but is

ultimately regressive and actually hostile to the goals of women and gay men

I can see the point that trans people are different than you know people with

same gender attraction in fact I would agree with that I mean I've made a video

before about how me being trans and being gay aren't related same gender attraction

has to do with your orientation whereas your gender identity is your gender you

know they're two separate identities but they are grouped together in LGBTQIA

plus you know there's more in there LGBT plus is a group for people that are not

cis or not a homosexual and homo-romantic hello this is editing

it's a group for people that don't fit into that

I mean Stonewall you know it was led by black trans woman you can't exclude

trans people from the conversation when it's trans people that started it and

as you know a white trans man I do have the responsibility to step up

and say hey no no stop their second claim is that the trans rhetoric is

regressive and actually hostile to the goals of woman and gay men um I didn't

um, I don't get what they're getting at here so reading a bit further into it

they say that trans people calling people transphobic or bigots is a insult

at least when I do it and when every trans person I know calls someone

transphobic they're trying to teach them something they're trying to tell them

that something that they've said is wrong or it hurts and as I said before

when an oppressed group speaks up about something that's bigoted towards them

you need to listen to them when you have privileges you have to acknowledge that

and realize that you don't have a say on all the things that are minorities you

don't have a say in every minority's discourse if you don't like being

called a bigot if you don't like being called transphobic then maybe listen to

the people that are oppressed listen to the minorities see what they have to say

about what you're doing to oppress them then maybe big whoop if you listen and

if you change your ways you won't be called a transphobic you won't be called

bigoted because you will be less so they say that we infringe the rights of

individuals particularly women to perform normal everyday activities in

traditional safe spaces based on sex this is most prominent in the case of

men claiming to be transgender demanding access to bathrooms locker rooms...

okay I've had this debate before I literally wrote like a five page essay

on the bathroom issue um I haven't made a video on it but I might if you want me

to let me know the truth is no transgender person has ever assaulted

someone in a bathroom in a locker room in a changing room ever you look into

every document there are no cases however about two-thirds of trans people

are harassed by others so if we're going by a purely statistical and logical

basis we should actually ban cis people from restrooms you know in the past

five years there have been five incidents of a dog shooting a gun and

killing a person so you're more likely to be hurt by a gun wielding dog than

the trans person um should we take dogs out of the lgbtq please tell me they

also say that we as trans people are overriding the history of gay and

lesbian people in the Stonewall Riots if you aren't aware, the Stonewall riots

were a movement of progression for LGBTQ rights

we're not trying to erase that history we're adding to it because so many cis

people forget that trans people were often the head of the Stonewall Riots

you know trans people push for LGBT rights just as much as they do but

they're so often erased for example Sylvia Rivera she was a lead in the

Stonewall riots um she was a black trans woman she advocated for not only the gay

community but homeless people and trans people at the time the term transgender

wasn't as widely used but she used the woman's bathroom she preferred to be

called she she presented as a woman she was a woman you know

um and you can't erase that by calling her a gay man Marsha P Johnson is

another advocate that led Stonewall she unfortunately died in 1992 under

mysterious circumstances but she was also a transgender woman and erasing

that as a part of history as a part of the Stonewall Riots is transphobic

Sylvia and Marsha were the main two trans women of color that did lead

Stonewall and by naming them and by putting what they did out there the

trans community isn't erasing what the rest of the LGBT community did we're

pushing forwards the fact that there were trans people there too there were

black trans woman that led Stonewall yet they're so often forgotten or painted as

gay men and they say that most troubling we are convincing kids that they can be

trans I've done a video on trans kids before so I'm just going to put it up

here because I don't want to talk about that again although there's always more

to say about that. the stance that these same gender attracted people take on

trans kids is far from the truth so these

these petitioners argued that the transgender ideology is not compatible

with the rights of woman gay men and children and asked that the

organizations and media outlets dissociate themselves from the

transgender movement and return to representing their base support of gay

men and lesbians so after going through their points from my perspective they

seem kind of unfounded and misinformed on debate.org a organization that is

used you know in the debates in arguments people go in vote on topics

and the site lists both sides on approximately two-thirds of people say

that yes the T should be removed from LGBT lgbtq+ is a whole family of people

that are oppressed for their genders and sexualities just because gay people and

trans people deal with two different types of bigotry that doesn't mean we

can't band together there can be gay communities and there can be trans

communities separate from each other but we shouldn't dissociate the two and try

to break up what we've forged over you know stonewall with the HRC and so many

organizations that have brought us together one person on change.org States

trans people are an incredibly vulnerable minority within a minority

that is slowly gaining political strength and recognition. while I agree

that the causes of being trans are not always exactly the same as LGBT pe-

as LGB people all stand together under the brand of queer traditionally trans

people have been the most visible and consequently the most oppressed segment

of the queer community until trans people share the rights to life liberty

and the pursuit of happiness no gay person can hope that the recent

improvements of the LGB rights will last I wholeheartedly agree with that I

think that's the best way to put it out there removing the group of trans people

or of intersex people from LGBT plus is dropping one of the most oppressed

groups in the lineup and yeah there are less trans people than there are gay bi

pan people but that doesn't mean we don't exist and that doesn't mean we

don't also need rights LGBT is used to accommodate everyone everyone

that is not cis and not straight so there's no reason for the T to be

dropped when the T is part of what started it LGBT - (dog shaking) - the LGBT

movement is meant to be a community a sort of family a place where everyone

feels accepted making a petition to drop the T from that drop arguably one of

the most oppressed groups from that family it's harmful

so I guess my main points are that the trans community is part of what started

the whole LGBT revolution we're important in this matter too and if you

want to argue for, and if you want to be an advocate for gay rights the rights

of you know adoption or civil unions or marriages that is completely fine you

know the existence of trans people isn't a threat to the rights of gay people

we're just as oppressed if not more than people with same gender attractions are

and we can't be excluded from a community that that were part of the

foundation of if you have questions or you know you have a point to make feel
