Youtube daily have Jul 3 2017

I'd like you to cast your mind back to the 1940s.

Two scrappy teenage boys find work in a grocery store in Omaha, Nebraska.

The older boy, from a poor family devastated by the Great Depression, breeds and sells

hamsters for spare change.

The younger boy, grandson of the store owner, puts off college and picks up work as a door-to-door

salesman slinging chewing-gum and coke bottles.

Each boy makes about 2 dollars profit per day.

Fast-forward five decades...

...and they're making 20 billion dollars a year.

So, who were they?

Charlie Munger and Warren Buffett.

So, how did these two guys become the most successful investors America has ever seen?

The answer?

Reading.

In 2007, 84-year-old Charlie Munger, explains the secret to their success to a crowd of

aspiring law students:

"I constantly see people rise in life who are not the smartest,

sometimes not even the most diligent,

but they are learning machines.

They go to bed every night a little wiser than they were when they got up and, boy does

that habit help."

In the early days of Buffett's investment career, he would read 600-1000 pages every day.

Today, he still dedicates 80% of his day to reading.

In Munger's words, he's a learning machine.

"I went to a librarian and said I wanna look, learn more about this, because I learned this over here.

That changed my whole life.

I read about one fifth the pace that Bill (Gates) does, but I still spend 5 or 6 hours

a day reading.

You can't get enough of reading."

Their tip to everyone is: no matter where you are in life, keep on learning and you

will succeed.

But Buffett and Munger are not the only ones in the billionaire book club.

Tech entrepreneur Elon Musk, for instance, reportedly learned how to build rockets by

reading books.

Bill Gates, the richest man in the world, reads about 50 nonfiction books every year.

In 2015 Mark Zuckerberg invited the whole world to join him on his quest to read one

book every two weeks.

So, do you want to go to bed a little wiser tonight?

Kickstart your reading habit with the Blinkist app.

The app transforms the world's best nonfiction books into 15-minute reads.

You can also learn on the go with Blinkist audio -- it's a foolproof way to become

a learning machine!

Mooning Ban: Aussie values have gone down the bloody shitta! - The Feed - Duration: 2:52.

My fellow Australians, today is a difficult day for us all.

Mooning is not just officially illegal in the state of Victoria

but now punishable with a two-month prison sentence.

Repeat offenders can...

Repeat offenders could land their arse in jail for six months.

I think I speak on behalf of all Australians in expressing deep disappointment

in the actions of the Victorian government.

Thank you.

Butt-bearing is part of an overall overhaul of 50 sexual offences that's meant to give police proper powers

But more power to the po-po means less power to the people

This law will affect every arsehole at a rugby match...

Every arsehole at a tennis match...

Not the tennis!

Every arsehole at a cricket match.

If I could go back to the moment where I was 'bout to jump the fence, I'd do it again I'd say.

But will they let you do it again beautiful idiot boy!

According to the Summary Offences Act, behavior that is

indecent, offensive, insulting, includes behaviour that involves a person

exposing to any extent the person's anal or genital region.

This includes streaking and mooning.

Now, the laws were actually changed last year and some protesters were so bummed they threatened to

To which the fun police, aka the actual police, responded,

The only moon we want to see on Parliament house is the eight day old moon in the October lunar cycle.

We suggest keeping your pants on or potentially risk criminal charges.

Criminal charges! My god!

What would have become of our Karl, whose crack appeared on live national television in 2015

because Michael Clarke failed to score a century at the cricket.

Ah, the liberties afforded to men, eh. Imagine if Lisa Wilkinson had done that.

Anyway, it's not the time to be discussing gender inequalities and the

unnecessary sexualisation of women's bodies that men don't have to contend with.

As you were.

What will become of the annual great moon where Territorians

give the Ghan a traditional Darwin salute.

What will become of every blue-blooded larrikin hanging outside a primary school in a trenchcoat waiting for

They'll go to jail.

They'll go to jail.

Yeah definitely jail.

Fair enough.

Because the updated legislation is kind of designed to separate the pranks from acts of sexual exposure, which

make it easier to prosecute the later, and yes, also the former.

Although, Victoria's attorney general did tell radio station 3AW last year,

which sounds reasonable but who's to decide what's appropriate and what's not?

Ah that would be me, Jan.

Oh Will, I mean Judge Will.

Mooning's alright by me, kids.

Me too!

everything I've got that doesn't mean I can't make a video

literally in the video I try to be humble so to speak and well now I've

learned that being humble on YouTube is not the way to go

actually I probably should have learned that a long time ago considering all the

Why Does This Frog Have So Many Legs?! - Duration: 3:09.

Here's a riddle: How many legs does a frog have?

That all depends on which parasites infect it.

I'm Anna and this is Gross Science.

Throughout North America there's a parasitic flatworm, that makes its home in the digestive

systems of water birds.

A bird's esophagus is a great place for these guys—that's where they find mates,

have sex, and pop out thousands of eggs. The eggs move through the digestive tract, and

when the bird poops in freshwater, the eggs hatch and the baby parasites look for a new

home.

But finding a new feathered friend isn't so easy.

The parasite will need to travel through two other animals and go through four different

life stages before it find another bird and settle down.

The first stop is a freshwater snail.

When it finds one, the parasite will invade the snail's tissues, turn into the next

larval stage, and eat away at the snail's reproductive organs, castrating it in the

process.

There it also multiplies asexually, and enters yet another life stage, turning the snail

into a mobile parasite factory.

Eventually, these hordes of parasites swim out of the snail in search of their next host

- a tadpole.

Once a tadpole is found, the larvae start to penetrate its tissue focusing on the hind

limb buds—that's where the developing frog's back legs will eventually grow.

The larvae grow a hard, protective coating called a "cyst", and this is where things

get really gross.

These parasitic cysts interrupt proper limb formation, causing the frogs to have an unusual

number of legs once they metamorphose— anywhere from zero to ten!

And when these froggy monstrosities get eaten by birds, the parasites finally become adults

and the life cycle starts all over again.

Now, the thing I find most interesting about this is that the frog's weird limb development

isn't just a side effect of the parasitic infection.

Scientists think that causing frogs to have multiple, or even missing legs, is actually

advantageous for the parasite.

Manipulating a host's morphology - in other words, how it looks - is just one strategy

that parasites use to survive.

Frogs that have an unusual number of limbs move more slowly than their four legged counterparts,

and that makes them easier for birds to catch.

Which of course makes it more likely that the parasite will end up exactly where it

wants to be, inside a bird's esophagus, surrounded by mates.

And really, isn't that what we all want in life?

Ew.

Donald Trump's Angry Tweets Have Real World Consequences - Duration: 4:26.

News over the weekend was buzzing over the fact that Donald Trump re-tweeted an image

of himself basically beating up somebody with a C & N logo over their faces from an old

WWE broadcast and Donald Trump used it to show how tough he is against the so-called

fake news, but what really happened was that Donald Trump got skewered on Twitter by both

democrats and republicans for acting like a petulant child, which is pretty much what

he is. Now Donald Trump doesn't seem to understand

the kind of dignity that goes with having and holding the office of the US president,

but it's something that he needs to learn pretty quickly. You see our global image,

the way people outside this country view the United States is falling at a rapid pace.

In fact, in just his first five months in office, he's already sank the US' image lower

than George W. Bush did after eight years. But furthermore, his little tweet there with

him beating up C & N inspires violence. C & N has been talking over the weekend about

the fact that this is going to end up getting a reporter either seriously hurt or possibly

killed. Last week Sarah Huckabee Sanders, deputy press secretary for the president said

that Donald Trump has never encouraged violence, in fact quite the opposite is true she told

us. Well first of all we know that even before this little Twitter incident, that was not

true. There is plenty of video and audio of him from rallies saying "Get them out of here,

toss them out of here, throw them out of here." He has inspired plenty of violence, we know

that. He has encouraged it. That's why he got sued for doing so, but he has to be held

to a higher standard. He is the president of the United States. He can't go on Twitter

like he did Saturday morning and call Mika Brzezinski "Dumb as a rock." Regardless of

your opinion of Mika of which I do not hold a very high one, the sitting president of

the United States should not refer to someone as "dumb as a rock." That is beneath the dignity

of that office and that is why his tweets do matter.

His own co-writer, this past weekend came out and said these tweets are not a distraction

because Trump's not smart enough to come up with that. That's the other side of the story

here. A lot of progressives are saying we have to focus on other things other than these

tweets and that's fine, we are, but these tweets are not dismissible when they have

potential world war consequences. As we're seeing with the way the rest of the world

views the United States. With the way they view Donald Trump. With the fact that they

no longer want to travel to the United States because of Donald Trump, which costs us billions

of dollars in economic tourism. Yes, these tweets are a problem. They're a

problem for everyone, but more importantly they show us the real character of Donald

Trump, that most of us were trying to warn this country about for a year and a half since

he announced he was running for president. These tweets are by no means shocking. We're

not shocked by this behavior, we fully expected it, predicted it and warned everyone about

it, but the fact that he hasn't changed. The fact that he doesn't understand that he has

to be held to a higher standard. The fact that he doesn't understand that his base is

more than likely going to take his words as a call to action. That's the problem and that's

why we cannot simply just say that these tweets are dismissible. There's something that has

to be discussed and to be honest, there are things that could potentially prove that this

president is mentally unfit to hold his job. To be honest that's probably one of the most

important reasons why we have to keep talking about these tweets.

Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie Have Tea With Kate Middleton, Prince William at Kensington Palace.

Friday, June 26, 2015, will forever go down in history.

Not only did the Supreme Court of the United States legalize same-sex marriage, but Brad

Pitt and Angelina Jolie had tea with Kate Middleton and Prince William.

After months of coordinating, the two power couples met for the first time at a private

Kensington Palace meeting.

"The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge met with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie Pitt at Kensington

Palace on Friday afternoon," a Kensington Palace spokesman tells Us Weekly exclusively.

"They discussed their shared interest in combatting the illegal wildlife trade."

Brangelina had flown to London earlier in the morning so Jolie can attend a lunch at

the Foreign & Commonwealth Office on Monday as part of her work on UK foreign policy and

her ongoing campaign to end war zone sexual violence.

At around 3:45 p.m., the UN Special Envoy was joined by Pitt and they headed straight

over to Kensington Palace for the informal meeting.

And according to the insider, Middleton and Prince William were "really excited" about

the afternoon tea, with a source adding that the royal couple who were joined by Prince

George actually waited outside their apartment 1A home to greet the Hollywood royal couple.

(Pitt and Jolies kids were also in London, but did not join in on the visit).

Naturally the Jolie-Pitt's didnt arrive empty handed.

A source tells Us the couple brought a special gift for the Duke and Duchess to celebrate

the arrival of Princess Charlotte, who was born in May.

Everyone got on splendidly, says the source of their afternoon tea.

Brad and Angelina spent much longer with the Duke and Duchess than planned.

They ended up staying for almost a few hours."

The meeting was a first for the foursome.

Prince William, Pitt, and Jolie all attended the 2014 BAFTA awards but didn't cross paths.

In October 2014, Queen Elizabeth II made Jolie an Honorary Dame Commander at a private Buckingham

Palace ceremony, which is the female equivalent of knighthood, for her humanitarian work to

which she has dedicated much of her life.

10 Dog Breeds That Have The Cutest Puppies - top 10 dog breeds that have the cutest puppies. - Duration: 6:31.

English Bulldog There is something about these wrinkly, tubby,

squat puppies that just make humans melt.

Bulldog puppies literally make people stop in their tracks.

It's why they are so popular on greeting cards and print advertisements.

Golden Retriever

There is something about a Golden puppy that makes everyone smile.

They are used in a lot of commercials, and it's no secret why—they are irresistible.

Labrador Retriever

Another breed that gets a lot of air-time as a puppy is the lab.

And we all know why: their rolly-polly bodies and sweet face could sell anything.

Corgi With their short little legs and ears that

are bigger than their body, corgi puppies are absolutely adorable.

To see one it so fall in love immediately.

French Bulldog Like the Pug and English Bulldog, something

about the Frenchie's flat face is endearing.

Couple it with those too-big ears, and you have one cute pup.

Pomeranian As a puppy, this breed looks like a little

teddy bear.

Their fluffy coat, tiny ears, and round eyes make it impossible to not want to pick them

up and cuddle them.

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel

If there was ever a dog breed that was born to give her owner the "sad look," it would

Saint Bernard Those big paws, covered in extra soft fur,

make the Saint Bernard puppy one of the cutest of the giant breeds.

The "sad eyes" don't hurt, either.

Basset Hound This puppy has it all: short, wrinkly legs,

tons of loose skin, ears that are too big, and those sad eyes.

Not to mention how soft those giant ears are, they are definitely irresistible.

Should You Need a License to Have Children? - Duration: 2:06.

- That's a sit-down question, right there.

- Is that something that's happening somewhere?

(upbeat pop music)

- I want to say, yes (laughs).

I know that sounds kind of terrible,

but, I mean, you know, that's a big responsibility

and so you just have,

you have to be ready emotionally, economically,

for not only your sake but the kid's sake.

- Well, for one, would I have to renew it every year?

- I think parents should be perhaps trained a bit

and given information and given support

at how to be a good parent,

but I think licensing is a step too far.

- To actually have a third party involving themselves

in that process, you know, it's a bit out of reach.

- And, once a woman have your child, that's a license

that would never expire. (woman laughing)

- I think you should maybe have to take a class

to have children, though,

or at least have some hands-on experience with children.

- No, I don't think you should have a license

to have children.

That's a natural thing, you know.

Like, that's, you don't need paper

for stuff like that, you know?

- I think you actually get the license

once you get the children.

- Some people certainly should have a license

to have children,

some people who are, you know,

maybe never had good family experience,

had problems in their family,

had difficulty in terms of sharing emotions

and dialoguing, talking, communicating.

- I think it's something so natural,

that humans are made to procreate,

that I don't think you need a license.

Like, there are bonds that are created

whenever you have a child, I think (laughs),

and then with that, like, that's how you learn

how to be a parent.

Species that have gone extinct in our lifetime - Duration: 1:57.

Golden Toad, 1989

Scientists aren't totally sure what led to this Costa Rican toad's decline, but the best theory is that the El Nino weather pattern along with global warming and airborne pollution dried up pools and ponds the toad lived in.

Japanese Sea Lion, 1974

Commercial hunting for these along with habitat loss due to WWII did these seal lions in. There were a few sightings in the '60s, and a baby was caught in 1974. In 2007, the government of South Korea announced a plan to introduce the closely related California sea lions into areas the Japanese sea lion lived.

Poʻouli or Black-faced Honeycreeper, 2004

Non-native species, particularly pigs, cats, and rats, have wreaked havoc on Hawaii's ecosystem over the last few centuries, and most likely contributed to the decline of this unique bird. After an unsuccessful effort to get the last few remaining birds to breed, the last bird died in 2004. Technically, it's still listed as "critically endangered", but none birds have turned up in the wild after extensive searching for the last few years.

Pyrenean Ibex, 2000

The last of this subspecies of Spanis ibex died in the wild in 2000 when a tree fell on her. Scientist had taken samples of the last ibex's DNA in 1999, and in 2009 scientist had mixed the DNA with domestic goat eggs to create a clone. However, the cloned baby ibex died shortly after birth due to lung defects.

Baiji or Yangtze River Dolphin, 2006

Declared extinct in 2006, a video of what appeared to be a baiji dolphin was taken in 2007. The species is still considered "functionally extinct", meaning that if there is only one of a few old creatures alive, no new ones will be born.

Pinta Island Tortoise, June 24, 2012

The last of his kind, Lonesome George died this weekend in his pen at a research facility. His exact age isn't known, but he was estimated to be over 100

Japanese Sea Lion, 1974

Javan Tiger, 1994

Loss of habitat due to farming was the main killer for this distinct subspecies of tiger that lived on the Indonesian island of Java. The last area where they lived was in the highest mountain of Java. A tiger was killed there in 1984, but by 1993 scientists couldn't find any evidence of tigers still living there.

Alaotra Grebe, 2010

This small diving duck lived in primarily in one lake in Madagascar until habitat loss and predation by carnivorous non-native fish species killed it off.

ALERT ⚠ This Is Why Politics Have Caused Chaos In Currency Markets! - Duration: 9:36.

This month's UK general election result was an unmitigated disaster.

Indeed, it is hard to envisage a messier outcome.

Weak and wobbly is the new strong and stable.

Having failed miserably to deliver her campaign soundbite, Theresa May would typically have

been expected to resign, as her predecessor, David Cameron, did after his unsuccessful

attempt to secure a Remain victory in last year's EU referendum.

However, May has displayed the tenacity of a pitbull in holding on to the keys of number

10 Downing Street, and her backbenchers, well-known for their ruthlessness in getting rid of ineffective

party leaders, have been held in abeyance because of their fear that a Conservative

leadership contest would have delayed the start of the Brexit negotiations, which they

see as under continued threat from so-called Remoaners.

The Brexit talks have now begun.

But it is clear the UK government is not negotiating from a position of strength, as it hoped or

envisaged, but from a position of weakness.

May has done what she can to try and shore-up her position.

Most significantly she has cancelled the 2018 Queen's speech and announced a two-year

rather than the typical one-year parliament, thereby removing a potential opportunity for

the opposition parties to hold an implicit no-confidence vote in her leadership.

However, EU politicians understand all too well that May's position is vulnerable – in

fact, it looks wobblier with each passing day – and they will use this to their advantage

in the Brexit discussions scheduled to take place over the next two years.

Indeed, they are already doing so.

On day one of the talks, the EU got the UK government to agree to discuss the issue of

an exit fee before initiating any discussions on future trading arrangements, something

David Davis, the UK's Brexit Secretary, wanted to run in parallel.

A direct consequence of the election outcome is that May is now beholden to the support

– a "confidence and supply" arrangement rather than a formal coalition – of the

10 DUP MPs in order to pass legislation.

This will be a difficult relationship to manage.

While the DUP supports Brexit, their manifesto did not propose leaving the single market

and, crucially for them, they wish to see a soft Irish border maintained.

Securing an agreement that will both appease the DUP and the Eurosceptic wing of the Conservative

Party will be extremely difficult to achieve, especially from an EU negotiating team emboldened

by the messy UK election result.

And, with a wafer-thin working majority in parliament, it would not take much for May's

government to find itself in serious trouble.

Compounding May's problems, the public's perception of her government has deteriorated

markedly since the general election.

Government anger sentiment has surged in the UK (see exhibit below) and currently stands

at its highest level since the street riots in London during the summer of 2011.

Such negativity is being reflected in the opinion polls, with Labour ahead of the Tories

by three percentage points.

This response has galvanised Corbyn and his acolytes to push for a second general election,

thereby turning what was, in their view, a "virtual" election victory into reality.

Given the fragility of Conservative minority government and the darkening social mood towards

the government, a second UK general election within the next 12 months cannot be entirely

ruled out, even if it appears not to be in the best interests of either Theresa May or

the DUP.

Accidents, in politics as in life, can and do happen!

Despite the increased political uncertainty generated by the messy election result, some

commentators have argued that the prospect of a softer Brexit – the result of necessary

compromises the Conservatives must make in order to stay in government (if not in power)

– means that the implication for GBP is more nuanced, especially in light of the less

dovish stance of the MPC at its last policy meeting.

(A perception reinforced by comments made on June 21 by BoE chief economist, Haldane,

but apparently not shared by his boss if his Mansion House speech is anything to go by).

Such arguments sound plausible, but when we observe how crowd views towards the UK currency

have evolved since the election, it is hard to detect the influence of such arguments.

In fact, since June 8 of all developed currencies we track, GBP sentiment has fallen the most

– see exhibit below – having declined by -0.64 (reading shown on the outer ring).

In light of all of this negativity, some investors could be tempted to conclude that the downside

for GBP is fully priced.

We would respectfully disagree.

Although GBP sentiment has fallen sharply since the June 8 vote, the decline has only

unwound the crowd's earlier bullishness such that in level terms GBP sentiment stands

close to its long-run average and is best considered neutral – see exhibit below.

Certainly, it is far from the extremely negative readings witnessed last summer after the Brexit

vote and which, as we noted at the time, suggested GBP was ripe for a (contrarian) rebound.

Given the unstable nature of UK domestic politics, the potential for the Brexit talks to generate

negative headlines (which is all part of any negotiating process where brinksmanship tactics

are being used e.g. "no deal is better than a bad deal", "I'm not in a frame of

mind to make concessions"), a clouding of the UK economic outlook tempering any nascent

BoE hawkishness, there appears plenty of scope for the crowd to become more bearish on GBP.

Obviously, currencies are a zero-sum game and exchange rates are relative prices, so

GBP weakness necessarily implies another currency appreciates, but which developed currencies

are best positioned to benefit from ongoing GBP weakness.

Referring back to exhibit 2 above, the two developed currencies where crowd sentiment

has increased most since the UK election are the CHF followed by the USD.

However, just as with GBP, one needs to consider the momentum of sentiment together with the

level of sentiment in order to assess more fully a currencies prospects.

In both cases, the recent rise in crowd positivity towards the Swiss and US currencies has pushed

crowd sentiment to historically elevated levels.

This is a warning that there is limited emotional "fuel" to drive these currencies higher.

A more fruitful candidate worth considering is the AUD – a currency where crowd sentiment

has experienced positive momentum but where in level terms sentiment is still in negative

territory, and hence less encumbered by the weight of positivity (i.e. there is greater

scope for the crowd to become more constructive).

That said, while we were taking an in-depth look at crowd sentiment in currencies in preparation

for this Market Insight, we noticed something peculiar in relation to the USD.

Take a look at the following exhibit, which compares sentiment by media type and you will

quickly see to what we are referring.

Social media is extremely, and increasingly, positive towards the USD whereas mainstream

media is more modestly, but increasingly, negative.

Hence, while aggregate crowd sentiment towards the greenback is elevated by historic standards

it masks a degree of divergence in tone between the two media types that is unprecedented

in the 11-year history of the series.

The USD, it would appear, is suffering from bipolar disorder.

All a first for the currency, it is not the first time we have witnessed such strong divergence

in the crowd's opinion towards US asset prices dependent upon the media type.

As our regular readers will recall we noticed something similar in the US equity market

earlier this year.

Several weeks back this gap in emotional tone between the two media types was narrowing,

but this recoupling has ceased and is once more diverging.

When we examine crowd sentiment towards the US economy we get a clear sense as to what

is driving this sentiment wedge between the two media types.

In short, social media is much more positive about the US economic growth outlook than

mainstream media.

As is well recognised, US macroeconomic data have hardly been signalling very robust growth

over the past several months.

Unquestionably, this has dampened animal spirits amongst professional investors, who opinions

we consider more in keeping with the tone of mainstream media.

By contrast, the animal spirits of retail investors, whose opinions we believe are better

reflected in social media, have remained ebullient.

No one knows for sure whether the optimists or the pessimists will be proved right (we

are still siding with the optimists for the reasons we outlined in a recent Market Insight)

but what we can be sure of is there is plenty of "emotional" fuel for US asset markets

to move as and when this sentiment divergence is resolved.

Little wonder the Fed remains cautious and continues tiptoeing its way back towards monetary

policy normalcy.

You Don't Have To Be First | The FRONT #4 | Mike Phillips / Leadership / Motivation / Business - Duration: 12:55.

good morning Internet Mike Phillips here would lead the team TV and thank you for

tuning in to the front this Sunday morning I'm doing this every Wednesday

and Sunday the front is on leadership leading from the front being out front

having the vision to lead your team to absolute excellence so please by all

means you can comment down below here you cannot to participate in the

discussion you could please leave a comment and by all me and subscribe to

my live feeds and subscribe on youtube at lead the team TV so let's jump right

into it this morning I'm talking about you don't have to be first

now that theme can seem a little ironic because for me and the people that I

teach and coach I'm often talking about that you want to go after and be number

one being first and being number one do not go hand in hand what I'm talking

about being first I'm talking about you don't have to be first to do something

in business you don't have to be the first to accomplish something in

business you don't have to be the first with a particular idea or a product or

an endorsement the the thing about being first oftentimes that may get you a

little bit ahead of the curve or ahead of the game but it's not necessarily the

people that are first to bring something to market that are the ones that have a

sustainable business or business model so when I'm talking about you don't have

to be first it does not mean that you should not be striving to be number one

I'm always about striving to be to the next level if you're if you're fourth or

fifth or tenth or 117 you should be striving to be up one level from where

you're at right now today what are you doing to today to improve your tomorrow

so what I'm talking about you don't have to be first you have to be at least good

at something to bring bring content or to bring a product or to bring a person

into into the environment into the market you have to be at least good or

better than that it doesn't mean you need to be an expert to start out you

don't have to be an expert to start out but you do need to learn

and remain teachable and over your time of learning the information sharing the

information pushing the information out to others that's how engaging in

collaborative works that's how over time people in general in potentially your

industry or even outside of your industry begin to view you as an expert

on a particular subject matter so keep in mind you don't have to be an expert

to start you just have to get started you have to get going and like I said at

the beginning there is a difference between being first to do something and

being number one once you are continually doing something being number

one means that you have the results to prove that you are number one you have

the successes you have the either the the revenue or the income or the people

when asked about your position can easily say oh the number one person in

this industry or in this sect of business is that individual so to gain

and here's one of the keys to gain number one status it is a matter of

continuing to do the right things and doing the right things the right way to

be number one it's about handling people properly it's about leading people

properly it's about building a business properly there is a certain way to

address and handle people there's a certain process and the fact of the

matter is there's a certain product or way that the product is presented you

can't sell a crummy product in any business especially now and expect to be

number one if you sell a crappy product it's it's out there it's on the internet

it's on social media if it's not a good quality product people are going to know

about it same way if it is a great quality product if you have a great

culture and things are presented masterfully if you are an expert in your

field people are going to know about that as well

right starting something great doesn't require a uniqueness keep that in mind

starting some gray does not require you to be unique

it requires you to take action it requires you to go after it it requires

you to start it doesn't require it doesn't mean hey my product has to be

absolutely unique to this other product or my personality or my individual has

to be absolutely unique to this but it does mean that you you need to start

think about this for a second let's look at Apple and meet me personally I'm not

an apple product user but I am a fan of the Apple philosophy and culture let's

take a look at Apple in the 1970s and 1980s Jobs and Wozniak those guys while

everybody else was talking about new technologies everybody else was excited

about new technology and they said hey there's this opportunity in the 70s and

80s and right before then we hit the big you know computer boom these two guys

actually took action they went out and and took out contracts with other

companies they took action and found a way to produce a product they didn't

just sit back and talk about it they moved right and and so by any means they

weren't the first to do something like that but they took steps to make it

happen so let's I'm going to move forward here let's talk about five

tangible steps that you can do to be at least good or certainly in your craft or

certainly better than your competition number one this is a big one number one

is follow through you have to have it's simple it's personal fortitude to follow

through and do what you say you will do so for example in sales if you say hey

mr. customer or mrs. customer I'll call you back it's simple call them back

right that's that's you manage the expectation that follow-through is

managing the expectation with the consumer that this the follow through

this number one follow through can carry you through a whole lot of this other

stuff while you're learning while you're building a business while you're

building a team well while you're managing yourself and selling the I'll

give you an example my wife recently reached out to a

business for one of our children because we wanted to conduct business with a

particular company she reached out and said hey we have an opportunity here

here's what I'd like to do I want to get my son engaged in this and that in the

other left a message we wanted some additional information and in fact we've

gotten an email saying hey call us or call this number for additional

information so we did that we executed on what was asked of us as the consumer

and guess what no follow-through no callback so at the end of the day we

don't do business with them why if there's no follow-through at the onset

while we summon is they're not going to follow through once we've engaged in the

product or service so number one is a big one if we're talking about a

tangible way that you can again you don't have to be first but you want to

talk about a tangible way to to build and be unique just follow through it's a

huge one number two keep it simple we have such a tendency to complicate

success people are constantly especially now constantly innovating and moving and

going and saying oh well what here's the next big thing here's the new way I'm in

the auto industry and it's like here's the next big way that people are going

to buy cars sometimes you just need to keep it simple and work on the

relationship and worry about what is important to the consumer actually

connect with them in a manner that they want if they want to call back call them

back right if they want to text back text them back if they started in an

email follow up with an email start establishing that relationship and

communicate on their level and from there you just go you know keeping it

simple as one of those things when you're struck with an idea for me when

I'm struck with an idea it's like sometimes you just go there's not a

whole lot of polish you're planning to it if you watch some of my my live

videos or some of the previous videos there's not a whole lot of depth of

planning and and that's that's seeable but people see the passion they go ok

well you're just going after something so sometimes you just take that step and

and keep it really simple once the idea strikes you go

number three know your target right know your market you have to know what or

whom you're going after what is the goal that you are pushing after to achieve

what is the end result that you want what do you want to see at the end and

I'm telling you this right now write it down when you write things down it is so

much more powerful because then there's a way for you to look back and hold

yourself accountable to it so you've got to know the target you've got to know

the market you've got to know the consumer number four know your product

it is amazing to me today in business peoples that are selling a product that

don't know about the product take the time to learn and value your product now

especially if you're an entrepreneur and it's something that you are selling if

you're selling you if you're the product for example sometimes we think well

that's easy right I can sell myself well the thing is you have to I would take

the time to write that down to what is the important piece what what is what is

my unique selling proposition for myself for my product what is what will my

product accomplish for this consumer that I am speaking to you have to know

the product when you don't know the product it also assumes and it begs it

assumes that you don't care if you know the product when you take the time to

study it it shows that you care enough that you've invested your time your

energy to learn it and be able to properly present it to the consumer and

show them what's important and help them push through it number five because I

told you there's five tangible steps change the world that's easy right at

least change your industry if that's what one of your goals is and I know I

connect with a lot of really awesome people in the auto industry and each one

of these individuals has the goal that they want to change their industry and

change the world you have to be willing yourself to be unique when you're going

to change something you have to be willing to be nervous

be anxious and be embarrassed and still overcome that and say you know what I'm

going to do me because this is what it's about for you to change that that think

about this there's so many industries that the leading experts the the people

that have been in it forever and and there are many many industries this

spans across all kinds of business that the industry experts are preaching the

same more of the same more of the mundane more of the well here's here's

you know that it's the seven words that kill business that's from Dave Anderson

right we've always done it that way before seven words that kill business

and so a lot of these these industry experts and they've become so lethargic

that they're missing that the innovation of when it strikes of like I said in

number two keep it simple all of a sudden boom it strikes put it out there

it's easy to put it out on video right now through a phone on social media blog

it right at podcast it it is so easy to put your information down and share it

and it's hopeful and likely that it will impact somebody so there it is that's my

message for today thank you for taking the time to join me on the front again

my name is Mike Phillips keep in mind you don't have to be first but you do

have to be at least good at it thanks again and tune in next time to the front
