Hello my name is Erin. I'm a professional copy editor who shares

writing tips for the real world on my blog at erinwrightwriting.com

Today's tutorial shows three methods for inserting trademark, copyright, and

registered symbols in PDFs using Adobe Acrobat Pro DC, Acrobat Standard DC, and

Acrobat Reader DC running on Windows. These steps should also work for most

earlier versions of Acrobat and Reader. The three methods we'll look at are

alt codes, the Character Map, and copying and pasting.

First we'll look at alt codes. The trademark, copyright, and registered

symbols are special characters included in standard font files. So the following

steps won't work with decorative fonts that don't include special characters.

If you're using decorative fonts without special characters, try the Character Map

or copy and paste methods shown later in the video. Please be advised that alt codes

normally can't be entered in the regular top row of numbers on a keyboard.

However, if your keyboard has a dedicated number pad you can easily use alt codes

for many special characters. To begin, select the Tools tab then select

Edit PDF in the Tools Center. Now insert your cursor where the symbol should appear in

the text and then press the Alt key while selecting the desired number

combination on your number pad. For the trademark, press Alt+0+1+5+3.

For the copyright symbol press, Alt+0+1+6+9 and for the registered symbol press Alt+0+1+7+4.

The Character Map is part of Windows. To insert trademark, copyright, and

registered symbols using the Character Map, select the Tools tab and then select

Edit PDF in the Tools Center. Now select the Search icon in the Windows taskbar.

And then search for and select Character Map. Now locate your font in the

Character Map's drop down menu. You can find the trademark, copyright, and

registered symbol in the character menu or select Advanced View and then use the

search box to search for trade mark spelled with two words, copyright, or

registered. If the Character Map is unable to find the symbol you need,

it may not be included in your font file, in which case select a standard font such

as Arial or Times New Roman that looks similar to your font. Now select the

symbol and then select the Select button and then the Copy button. Now close or

hide the Character Map and insert your cursor where the symbol should appear in

the text. Finally, select Ctrl+V to paste the symbol into the text.

The last method, copying and pasting, is the easiest but does require access to

another document software such as Microsoft Word. To begin, select the Tools tab,

then select Edit PDF in the Tools Center. Now open a Microsoft Word

document and select the same font used in your PDF. Create a trademark, copyright,

or registered symbol.

Select the symbol and then press Ctrl+C to copy it. Finally, reopen your PDF and

press Ctrl+V to paste the symbol into your text. For more information on

ledger that contains names and balances and people exchanged money by changing

this file when Bob sells Carol a lawnmower for 5.2 bitcoins Bob's balance

goes up by 5.2 and Carol's down by 5.2 there's no gold or government-issued

money backing these numbers Bob is only willing to trade his real-life lawnmower

for a higher number in this digital file because he has faith that other people

will also trust the system so who maintains this ledger and make sure no

one cheats when goal of bitcoin is to avoid any centralized control so every

participant maintains their own copy of the ledger one surprising consequence of

this is that everyone can see everyone else's balances although the real system

only uses account numbers and not names so there's some level of anonymity if

everyone maintains their own ledger how are all the Ledger's kept in sync as

money is transferred at a basic level when you want to send money you simply

tell everyone else by broadcasting a message with your account number the

receivers and the amount everyone across the entire world then updates their

ledger as a quick aside I'm describing how Bitcoin works for power users people

who help maintain the system you can also just use the system to send and

receive money though without maintaining a ledger if sending money is as simple

as creating a message with some account numbers what's to stop a thief Alice

from spending Bob's money by using his account number like a pen and paper

check the coin requires a kind of signature to prove that the sender is

the real owner of an account but is based on math rather than handwriting

when a new account number is created it comes along with a private key

mathematically linked to that account number if you heard of a Bitcoin wallet

these keys are what it holds and are what allow you to create signatures to

create a signature a private key and the text from a transaction are fed into a

special cryptographic function another function allows other people to check

the signature making sure it was created by the account owner and that it applies

to that specific transaction unlike the handwritten version these signatures

can't be copied and reused in the future as they're unique to each transaction

while the mathematical signatures who sent a transaction they can't prove

when it was sent and this turns out to be problematic in our traditional

banking system if Alice wrote two checks but only had enough money to cover one

of them the bank would pay the first person that's tempting the cash is

checked but refused the second because alice's account would be empty so the

order of these checks is critical because it determines who should get

paid unfortunately order is much harder to determine in Bitcoin where instead of

a single Bank there are individuals all over the world network delays might

cause transactions to arrive in different orders in different places and

fraudsters could lie about time stamps two recipients might both think their

transaction is first and ship a product effectively allowing Alice to spend

money twice Bitcoin prevents this by providing a way for the entire world to

decide on transaction order as new transactions are created they go into a

pool of pending transactions and from here they'll be sorted into a giant

chain that locks in their order to select which transaction is next a kind

of mathematical lottery is held participants select a pending

transaction of their choice and begin trying to solve a special problem that

will link it to the end of the chain the first person to find a solution wins and

gets to have their transaction selected is next in the chain so what's this

linking problem it's based on a special function called a cryptographic hash as

scary as this sounds it just mixes up its inputs and spits out a number but

it's special because it's irreversible there's no easy way to start with an

output and then find an input that generates it other than by making lots

of guesses and this is literally what people are doing in Bitcoin feeding this

function random numbers until the output meets certain criteria besides a random

guess you also input a transaction from the pending pool and chain which is

where the linking part comes in so the library provides a way for the

entire world to decide which transaction is next that the math behind it also

helps ensure everyone agrees without past transactions - suppose you're

joining the network for the first time and request a copy of the transaction

chain to get caught out but receive several different versions which one

should you trust ideally you would trust the one that the majority of people are

using but determining this on the internet is difficult what would stop a

single person from voting millions of times

Bitcoin prevents this by requiring people to solve math problems to vote

this causes each vote to have a cost in computing power making it unlikely that

a single person or group could ever afford to out though or out compute the

majority of users the transaction ordering process described before

actually provides the voting system part of the input to the linking problem is a

transaction from the end of a chain so each guess is effectively a vote for

that chain but how are all the votes tallied because the cryptographic hash

function has well-defined statistical properties you can look at any given

answer and estimate how many guesses it took to find it just like estimating how

many coin flips it would take to get 100 heads in a row so the links in a chain

not only put transactions in order but also act as an effective vote tally

making it easy to see which chain was people are using finally how does money

get created every time someone wins the lottery to pick the next transaction in

the chain the bitcoins are created out of thin air and awarded to their account

solving these problems is commonly called mining as this is how money

enters the system but the main purpose of the math is to make sure everyone's

Ledger's a drink the math Simplot provides a convenient way to randomly

distribute money into the world in fact sometime around twenty one forty no more

money will be created and participants will only be paid from fees added on to

transactions I hope this gives you a quick sense for

That's �1.5 billion a year peopl.

London based branded business valuation and strategy consultancy Brand Finance Group estimated

she's worth more than her older brother Prince George who is worth �2.4 billion.

Speaking to Marie Claire, Brand Finance's marketing and communications director Robert

Haigh said, "This is actually as simple as the relative size of the men's and women's

fashion markets, by which I mean that Charlotte's endorsement effect will likely be felt across

a much broader range of products and brands or types of clothing than will George's, allowing

a greater scope for the monetization of her 'brand' and hence a higher value."

She's following in the footsteps of her mum who is estimated to be worth �4.7 billion.

To kite Buzzard, first hit Buzzard once, back off, then come back and you can hit it twice between their pecks in your subsequent hits.

If you stand too close to your bait, it will fly away. So STAND BACK while it is hopping to your bait.

Wearing a log suit is advisable to minimise damage.

Try to stack the seeds incase Buzzards eats it quickly. Buzzards can take between 0.5 to 30 seconds to eat.

Buzzards respawn in all seasons, making them a possible food source even in winter.

You can kill it with a boomerang but this is not practical as you have to use more than 1 boomerang to kill it (250 HP in DST)

This is what happens if you stand too close to your bait.

I'm Caitlin White for Uproxx,

his newest masterpiece, "Atomic Blonde,"

it's brilliant use of soundtrack

and the parallels of 1980s Berlin and today.

Thanks for being with us, David.

Thank you.

Yeah.

So, this is your first feature film, solo, as a director.

What was it that drew you to this film, specifically.

Sometimes you just read a piece of material

and you start to see pictures

and you start to hear music and you can't explain it.

I love, like, nonverbal storytelling

and I think that there's a lot of it in the beginning

of this script

and I started to attach those images.

More specifically, songs.

I was struck, particularly, how the music comes into play, almost as it's own character.

It goes back to that initial reading of the material and, like, how do you reinvent this

stuffy, Cold War spy movie.

You think about the period its set in and the city, Berlin '89, like the height of MTV;

I just started to see music become an essential element.

Then as I did my first director's pass on the script, I started to put the needle drops

in there, the specific cues that would be in line with the visual storytelling.

I noticed that an original song will come in and then, later, newer versions –

Yeah.

It felt like a good way to bring 1989 into now and back.

The idea was that we would have songs from the '80s and then we would also reprise them

with younger, up and coming artists.

Tyler Bates, the composer of "John Wick," helped from the beginning to sort of find

a soundtrack that seamlessly sort of stitched the songs together, but also discover young

artists that would want to rerecord, like Health.

Clearly, the historical context of the music is related to the time period of the film,

but it also felt like the songs selected perfectly embodied sort of the aesthetic of the film

How did those interplay for you?

A track carries an emotional context.

So you can transport the audience immediately with a song.

One song and a visual can communicate something that, you know, pages of dialogue wouldn't.

Watching all of the unrest and all of the protests in Berlin, in the film, I was reminded

of what's been going on in America right now, and one other thing I noticed about the music

is how much it home that often these social movements are started by youth and are started

by artists and the counterculture is coming from that, which so often includes music as

a cornerstone.

Right.

Did that tie in to some of your musical selections?

Totally.

I mean, I think that's...Berlin is all about the counterculture.

I think that's one of the reasons why it spoke to me from the beginning and I go back to,

like, that first read of the script and, like, understanding the set piece and then, like,

holy crap, this is taking place in Berlin.

This should not be a stuffy noir.

This is about counterculture.

This about rebellion.

This is about rock and roll and that's why music became such a part.

In terms of the political climate and where things are now, we probably had no idea, you

know, while we were shooting that some of these themes would resonate with what's going

on today.

but I'm glad that it is and a lot of different things.

We weren't necessarily trying to be messengers for today, but history is its own messenger,

I guess, right?

RAJMA CHAWAL RECIPE|How To Make Rajma Chawal | Indian Kidney Beans Curry - Duration: 4:08.

hey guys welcome to cook with Nancy today I'm gonna show you guys how to

make a quick and simple rajma chawal this is a very staple North Indian food

that every household will have at least once a week there are different

variations to make rajma chawal today the one I'm gonna make is very

simple and yet delicious soon I will show the second version let's get

started with the ingerident I am using 2 tbsp of oil in a deep skillet once it is

hot add 1 TSP of cumin seeds and let it splutter and turn brown I also have 1

medium size onion finely chopped I'm going to go ahead and add to the cumin

seeds and just saute them for a couple of seconds then I'm adding 1 bay leaf

this is the fresh bay leaf but you can also add dry bay leaf

saute for couple of seconds I have one tablespoon ginger and 1 tablespoon

garlic finely chopped you can also add garlic or ginger paste if you prefer and

I'll saute them until the onions turn find some golden brown now as you can

see the onions are brown now I have 2 large Tomatoes that is roughly chopped

go ahead and saute for couple of seconds

I'm gonna use salt as per my taste now mix it well and cook until the tomatoes

are nicely cooked through now I'm adding 1 tablespoon chilli powder 1 tablespoon

coriander powder 1/2 a TSP turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon cumin powder pinch

of fenugreek seed powder 1/2 a TSP garam masala now combine them well with the

tomato and onion mixture and cook through until the masala is well

combined and also you see start seeing the oil separates from the masala little

bit now I have soaked kidney beans overnight 1 cup and also pressure cook

this morning with 3 whistles when you pinch them it should be really soft as

you can see it's they're so soft now I'm going to go ahead and add those

beans cook beans reserving 2 tbsp aside and also I have 2 cups of water reserved

from the cooked beans now give it a quick stir with the masala make sure you

do not break the beans just be gentle

I'm gonna add the reserved water and I'm gonna make a paste out of the 2 tbsp

reserve beans and set it aside now bring this beans to a boil and also make sure

you check for the seasoning this is the right time to check the seasoning and

adjust as needed now the masala has come to a boil at

this stage take the paste that you just made out of the kidding me I'm going to

add to the rajma right now the reason I add this paste to the gravy is to make

the gravy thicker the consistency will be nice and thick for the rice or the

roti I prefer to use the beans as a thickening agent instead of using corn

flour mixture or anything I have 1 table spoon of fenugreek leaves

known as kasoori methi just crush it and add it to the masala and also want

teaspoon of heavy whipping cream give it a quick stir at this time you can also

add fresh coriander leaves I don't have it with me so I'm not adding

one more teaspoon of cream now go ahead and serve with hot rice plain rice or

even the roti this is super delicious super healthy and it's loaded with
