Youtube daily an Jul 16 2017

Dear July, I read a tweet that I thought would be nice

because it was a baby picture and baby pictures are cute and generally have nice captions,

but instead the caption said "Smart ladies, you can be a scientist or make 8 scientists,

which is better for society?" and Honestly, that's just a hot mess of a sentiment.

(intro).

So first things first, nobody has to have kids and pressuring people to have children

is creepy.

Being a parent should be an opt-in experience because parenting is one of the most demanding

responsibilities you can partake in.

If you want to have kids, great have kids.

If you don't want to have kids, great don't have kids.

Secondly, let's just abolish the idea that you can't be a mom and a scientist.

For one thing, lots of scientists have been parents: Albert Einstein, Marie Curie, Galileo

Galilei - all of them had children and made great scientific discoveries!

Male scientists aren't told that they shouldn't be scientists because we need them to focus

on being dads - there are tons of working parents in society and we should be doing

more to support them because their contributions to society as parents and in their career

are valuable.

Third, let's say a brilliant woman who wants to pursue a career in STEM gets pressured

into having 8 children and to give up on their career.

Statistically, half of their children will be little girls who will be told that their

only value comes from bearing sons - and maybe they won't watch Mulan and realize that's

a ridiculous notion.

The world loses half its potential when we tell half the population that they are only

valuable in one aspect of their potential lives.

We lose half of our potential innovators, scientists, writers, and great thinkers when

we tell girls that they have to choose between being a mom and having a career and that their

value should stem from motherhood.

This is a world without Marie Curie and her pioneering the research on radioactivity,

this is the world without Rosalind Franklin and her contributions to discovering the molecular

structures of DNA, RNA, viruses, coal, and graphite, this is the world without Ada Lovelace

inventing the idea of the computer long before the technology would be available to create it.

This is the world where we have significantly less knowledge about our universe because

we told women that their contributions to our scientific understanding aren't necessary

and aren't beneficial to society.

Fourth point, 8 kids?

really?

You think someone is going to have 8 kids and they'll all become scientists?

You can't make your children pursue the career field you want them to pursue because children

aren't their parent's property.

Children are individuals with their own lives, skill sets, ideas, and yes at some point careers.

Plus, I have nine siblings and exactly zero doctors in the family, so trust me trying

to get your kids to pursue the careers you want them does not work.

Just ask my parents.

In conclusion, an infinite amount of "Nope"

Love, Katrina.

ACF Question & Answer Session Inside an airplane! - ACF Vlog #1 - Duration: 6:47.

Hello aces! Ace Combat Fan here inside an airplane and I want to do

something different today no my idea today is to answer some of

the common questions I've been asked so many times so hopefully we'll get

a good understanding about the channel.

So session with Ace Combat Fan inside an airplane so here we go!

First, why am I inside an airplane?

Well, the reason why I'm inside an airplane is because I had this flight,

I'm doing my flight training so I had this flight and I had no wingman,

I had no one to come with so it's kind of lonely...

Solo flights can be real lonely... But that's what flying is all about, really.

So I thought I would record a video on the meantime.

What is my favourite Ace Combat game?

I don't have one favourite Ace Combat, instead I have four favourite Ace Combats,

which are Ace Combat 4, Ace Combat 5, Ace Combat Zero and the Japanese version of Ace Combat 3.

When people usually ask what's my favorite game, then it's just hard for me to explain that I

like all the four in the same way... I mean, not in the same way, in the "same amount"

but just in different ways for example, Ace Combat 4 to me feels more

like the most nostalgic game because that was my first one and I feel the

feels, you know? Ace Combat 5 is more like the story plot and the movie setting,

animations were pretty good as well. Ace Combat Zero, I like the story,

I think it's the most epic of all and I like to design how it's kinda set to

be in Europe kind of, that feel, and the aces. There are a lot of aces in Ace Combat 3.

I mean, Ace Combat Zero!

The reason why Ace Combat 3 is one of my

favorites is because I recently played the translated version thanks to Project

Nemo and the story in Ace Combat 3 is just superb. I like how there are five

different paths that your actions actually, you know,

change the outcome of how things go so for me the four games are my favorites,

there's no one... It's like a mother, you know, mothers always say that they

love each son equally, and for me it's true in this case for all these four games.

Where am I from?

Many people ask me where am I from and I am

from Brazil you know, most people think people from Brazil are from the Amazon

forest and while that's not true, even though every Brazilian has, you know, the

monkey or the snake and those kinds of pet animals, I am actually from this area

as you can see the map which is very far from the Amazon, not everything in Brazil is the

Amazon, okay guys? And there it actually looks more like a desert kind of -ish but yeah.

Where do I live?

I live in Canada as you can probably see the background kinda...

I moved here just a study and to live here, kinda goes with my goal of you know

becoming a pilot, a commercial pilot, so you gotta follow the dream.

What did I want to be when I was to grow up?

I think as many of you, I wanted to be an air force pilot,

it's the Ace Combat influence and unfortunately I had two options,

I could be a fighter pilot in Brazil or I could live somewhere else and be a pilot but not military.

Due to the conditions in Brazil, I chose to move to another country which was Canada.

Canada is pretty chill, and so I kinda gave up on the dream because, it's hard and it was a tough choice,

but at least I can still be a pilot here, not military but commercial pilot

so it's kind of THERE, you know! Not quite the Ace Combat fighter pilot

but kind of a pilot XD.

What languages do I speak?

As you may have noticed like kinda did some videos in different languages although

my channel is obviously mostly in English, I also do some video the Portuguese

which is my native language although sometime you know I've spent so much time

living in Canada, actually just four years, but sometimes I feel like I speak better

English than Portuguese.

It's weird, IT'S SO WEIRD.

Other than that I also speak some Japanese-ish. Not fluent, not fluent.

And some French which I've never made a video with me speaking in French

but it's not fluent either, I can understand some Spanish...

I can make out a few words and I can understand when I talk to Spanish-speaking people but I don't speak it.

Am I excited for Ace Combat 7?

YES GODDAMMIT, YES I AM!

Bought the PS4 as soon as

they announced the game and now they have delayed it for a second time and I'm like aghhhh....

But I also will be getting the VR to record the VR campaign which are two different campaigns and yeah!

Also the PC version too, the Steam version.

What is my favorite Strangereal nation?

I think that one you probably know it's Belka.

#MakeBelkaGreatAgain! It has to be!

What is my favourite Ace Combat protagonist? Or the most powerful one, the best pilot, the best protagonist!

Okay, that will be a tough one!

I'm in between Cipher and Mobius,

Mobius because he flew alone, Cipher because he killed so many squadrons AND SUPERWEAPONS.

Although Razgriz was pretty good too, so one of these three is the best pilot.

What maneuvers can I do on a Cessna 152 (this airplane)?

Unfortunately I cannot do

a Cobra because that would be too extreme but I can do a couple things...

for example I can do steep turn 45 angle of bank and keeping the same altitude.

Not any extreme maneuver like Ace Combat but it's something...

not even aerobatic, but hey you can kill the G's at least!

So that was the question and answer session inside an airplane, I hope you have enjoyed and if you still have

a question please let me know in the comments and I'll make another video - session 2!

I hope you have enjoyed and before you leave

actually you probably didn't know but I have another YouTube channel, it's about aviation

so I'll leave the link right there as you can see,

it's called Pilotando no Canadá, or "Flying over Canada".

And I do both English and Portuguese content in that YouTube channel.

Hope you have enjoyed and see you next time!

Google Exposed New Evidence Reveals an Extreme Level of Manipulation, Corruption - Duration: 5:48.

Google Exposed New Evidence Reveals an Extreme Level of Manipulation, Corruption

by Josie Wales

In September of 2011, Googles Executive Chairman Eric Schmidt testified before Congress

that Google was not manipulating search results to favor its own shopping service (it was).

Schmidt also denied allegations that the company was a monopoly, citing a research paper written

by David Balto, former policy director of the Federal Trade Commission.

What Schmidt neglected to tell the Senate Judiciary antitrust committee was that Google

had funded that research paper.

We're revolutionizing the news industry, but we need your help! Click here to get started.

And thats not the only one, according to a recently published report by the non-profit,

non-partisan watchdog organization, the Google Transparency Project, which identified 329

research papers published between 2005 and 2017 on public policy matters of interest

to Google that were in some way funded by the company.

Whats more, the academic research funded by Google covered a wide range of policy

and legal issues of critical importance to Googles bottom line, including antitrust,

privacy, net neutrality, search neutrality, patents and copyright.

GTPs report reveals a shocking list of sources that Google paid off.

They include:

[A]cademics, think-tanks, law firms, and economic consultants from some of the leading

law schools and universities in the country, including Stanford, Harvard, MIT, University

of California Berkeley, UCLA, Rutgers, Georgetown, Northwestern Law School, and Columbia.

Internationally, GTP reports, Google-funded studies were written by academics at some

of the most prestigious universities in Europe, including Oxford (U.K.), Edinburgh University

(U.K.), Berlin School of Economics (Germany), Heinrich Heine University (Germany), and KU

Leuven (Belgium).

The Wall Street Journal took their research a bit further, and what they discovered is

astounding.

WSJ reported:

Some researchers share their papers before publication and let Google give suggestions,

according to thousands of pages of emails obtained by the Journal in public-records

requests of more than a dozen university professors.

The professors dont always reveal Googles backing in their research, and few disclosed

the financial ties in subsequent articles on the same or similar topics, the Journal

found.

University of Illinois law professor Paul Heald neglected to disclose the $18,830 he

received from Google to fund an idea on copyrights he thought would be useful to Google.

When he was questioned in an interview about his failure to mention his sponsor, Heald

replied, Oh, wow.

No, I didnt.

Thats really bad.

Thats purely oversight. The professor also claims the money had no influence on

his work.

Google has paid anywhere between $5,000 and $40,000 per paper, and the number of studies

surged the highest in 2012 when the company was being investigated by the Federal Trade

Commission and European regulators for antitrust violations.

At least 50 studies on antitrust issues authored between 2011 and 2013 were bought and paid

for by Google.

According to a former employee and a former Google lobbyist, Google officials in Washington

compiled wish lists of academic papers and then searched for willing authors to complete

the desired work.

Google often provided working titles, abstracts, and budgets for each proposed paper.

Upon completion, they were pitched to government officials.

The former lobbyist told the Journal that Google would sometimes pay travel expenses

for professors to meet with congressional aides and administration officials.

Googles massive influence on academic research should come as no surprise given the former

CEOs openness in discussing the companys hand in writing legislation.

At the Washington Ideas Forum, Schmidt described his experience working with the U.S. government,

revealing that The average American doesnt realize how much of the laws are written by

lobbyistsand its shocking, now, having spent a fair amount of time in the system

 how the system actually works.

Shocking is an understatement.

Its absolutely terrifying how the system works.

A multi-billion dollar company with a monopoly on the internet not only writes the laws,

but funds academic studies to shield them from further laws that might prevent them

from becoming even more dangerous, all while harvesting private data from over a billion

people and developing AI technology that allows two neural networks to communicate using inhuman

cryptographic language indecipherable to humans.

And the executive chairman of this disturbingly powerful corporation is a man who has stated

that Googles famous Dont be evil slogan was the stupidest rule ever.

This is the same man who told an audience in Washington, D.C., that We dont need

you to type.

We know where you are.

We know where youve been.

We can more or less know what youre thinking about.

What could go wrong?

[019] 3937km in Vietnam: Hoi An & Da Nang - Duration: 7:11.

Today is the 4th day of the trip.

We're going back to visit Hoi An's ancient town in day time.

Then we will go to Da Nang this afternoon.

We're at Da Nang's highest point.

We can see the whole city but the view is a bit blocked by trees...

The sun is hiding also...

This is one of Da Nang's most famous bridges : The Dragon Bridge.

It lights up at night.

Every bridge in Da Nang has a nice design.

It's quite a view! Don't hesitate to wander by the riverside!

We're looking for a seafood restaurant!

The concept is choose, weigh then eat!

Da Nang is Vietnam's 3rd largest city. It's very famous.

It's famous to be quite different from others cities.

For its modernity.

Life is known to be pleasant here.

A breath of fresh air amidst Vietnamese big cities.

My first impression of Da Nang is quite good.

Especially around the river and the beach!

There are tons and tons of hotels and resorts though...

It's a tourist machine!

But it does look quite good!

Being a poor Australian man in the Philippines - Duration: 8:39.

Being a poor Australian man in the Philippines

A blunt heading, but it's a topic I feel like being blunt about.

As an Australian man in the Philippines, you simply don't want to be poor.

Mila and myself have lived here full time for just over seven years, and we

do OK.

Our business is successful, and we therefore live comfortably.

We're also conservative and cautious about money, savings and investments.

Because there is no safety net.

You run out of money, and you are out on the streets and all alone.

Being a poor Australian in the Philippines is no fun at all!

Poor foreigners in the Philippines We have friends here amongst the Australian

expats in the Philippines, as well as Canadians, Americans

and Englishmen and a stray Iranian.

Some come here with investments, superannuation, etc.

Others have their home country pension.

Others run businesses.

There are those who work for Embassies and global companies with a few key staff from

Australia or wherever who are on fairly healthy salaries with

benefits.

I can't say I know any personally.

Most of the Aussies and other nationality expats here are either on pensions or are

running businesses.

Mostly?

Not doing so well.

Mostly money is tight, and they do without a lot of things.

And I wonder why they do it, to be quite honest.

No matter where you live in the world, of course there's a wolf at the door.

However countries like Australia have very obvious safety nets.

Without meaning to appear unsympathetic to any reader on a

low income, no one in Australia really falls that far.

Not like they do here in Philippines.

Australia has Centrelink benefits.

There's housing commission accommodation.

There's Medicare, and states like QLD have free hospitals.

Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme, even cheaper if you're on Government benefits.

You can even get St Vincent de Paul to bring you a food package if you're really short.

The Philippines?

There is no social security that is public, or at least not open to those who didn't have

contributions paid into it while they were working here.

So nothing for an Australian expat.

No housing commission.

No charities that would take you very seriously if you turned up on their doorstep.

And try turning up at a hospital with no money and

see how far you get.

And unlike poor Filipinos, you don't have a mountain of relatives and friends who

will chip in and help you out when things go wrong.

What can happen to poor Australians?

I've known Australians here to end up literally begging for help when things have gone wrong.

Health issues and failed businesses are probably

the worst problems that can strike the Australian ex-pat.

If a man gets sick he can not only lose his source

of income, he can have serious medical bills.

Case in point.

A very sad story.

We had a friend.

Australian builder who was trying to establish a

business here in Manila.

Did great work.

We had him doing some work at our place, and we were very

happy with what he was doing.

But could see that he was struggling.

Great builder, but wasn't an astute businessman at all.

Ended up getting ill, and died because he couldn't afford proper care.

The Australian Embassy only contacted his family in Australia

for him.

They won't loan money.

He left a wife and three kids behind.

And we have another friend here who's been getting chest pains over the last few weeks.

Wife and two kids, plus a demanding business.

The worry is written all over his face, and as a friend we're worried for

him too.

No Medicare to foot the bill, and if he's not there to run his business the doors will

close.

And no, he's also not rolling in spare cash.

A few weeks without income, and he will be in trouble.

I won't elaborate today on the folly of many Australians assuming they can set the Filipino

world on fire with their great business ideas.

Many make wild assumptions as to what would most certainly be

successful here, only to find out how wrong they were.

I've written about this in other BLOG articles, older readers will remember.

Many an Australian comes here and misjudges the marketplace

completely.

Finds Filipino customers unwilling to part with money and unwilling to try anything new.

Finds customers who will do everything to avoid paying their accounts.

Those who expect bribes before signing contracts.

Competition who can survive on much lower incomes that they ever could.

So many a business either fails or at least doesn't

produce what will pay for a moderately comfortable lifestyle with

some savings to cover emergencies.

Yes, savings.

Some fat to fall back on during lean times and to cover those unexpected emergencies.

Illnesses and hospitalization.

Operations.

Typhoons and earthquakes.

Cars needing to be replaced.

Family emergencies where your conscience doesn't allow you to watch a child go without medical

treatment.

And lean business times, business failures and getting fired from stable employment.

I was talking to an expat once who bought an expensive

house a few years back, and said when they'd settled

up he had less than a thousand dollars in the bank.

That's insane!

What if a tragedy had struck at the same time?

Then what?

And expats are well known for falling into schemes and scams designed to part them from

their savings too.

Many come here with hundreds of thousands in the bank only to end up wondering where

it all went.

Farming ventures.

Businesses which have depended on trusted relatives doing the right thing

which have failed because they didn't do the right thing.

Buying into bars, restaurants, resorts and ending up with nothing after 6 months.

And plenty of stories of trusted wives and sweethearts who have

drained bank accounts right under their noses.

The point here is to realise well and truly that you're not in Kansas anymore, Toto.

This is the Philippines.

There is a PACK of wolves at the door, and they all have rabies!

Fail due to carelessness, scams, excessive optimism and a lack of sound

planning, and you will fall harder than you ever imagined

you could.

It may leave you bankrupt and devoid of your life savings, or it may even see you in an

earlier grave than you expected.

Be cautious and only take those risks you can afford to live with if they fail.

Don't overestimate your abilities, and know that you will never be so acclimatized that

you cannot make stupid mistakes due to ignorance.

And if your savings are dwindling, pack up and leave while

you still can.

the biography has proved to be one of the most successful literary genres of all time. And of all kinds of biographical books, the ones that are read

and that sell, the most are life stories of celebrities. So it comes as no surprise that the star biography is still

in great demand in the publishing world, and that established journalists and authors, along with major

publishers, are doing their utmost to keep the biography sections of bookstores well-stacked.

Dipa Chaudhuri, chief editor, Om Books International, talks about the popularity of this genre among today's readers. "Stars worldwide connect to their

audience through their larger-than-life personae that may be distinct from their actual lives. A biography

or an autobiography allows the readers to partially understand the foundation of star mythologies,

and discover other half-truths about the subject," explains Dipa.

She continues: "Most artfully written biographies avoid falling into the trap of overlapping biographies—of the biographer and the subject. A personal favourite is

Donald Spoto's Marilyn Monroe: The Biography. And autobiographies could take a leaf from Confessions by Saint Augustine

So, the biography/autobiography of a star—from cinema, politics, sports or any other sphere of public life—is

not meant to be a ballad, hagiography or the record of a court chronicler. A living subject may or may not allow a scathingly honest account of his

or her life depending on the cultural moorings, but reliving and sometimes willingly revising and altering personal

histories could be a cathartic process. A star who has passed on provides the leeway for a speculative reconstruction of

his or her life without being around to either corroborate, challenge or censor the presentation. Much depends

on a biographer's ability and willingness to provide multiple perspectives, and the subject's willingness to be open to public scrutiny."

Christina Daniels is the author of I'll Do It My Way, a book about the "incredible journey" of the actor Aamir Khan, published by Om Books. Aside from being focused on

Khan's life and work, the book is also an expression of Daniel's own love for cinema. It is a kind of tribute to Hindi cinema

The other interesting thing is that the author hasn't interacted with Khan for this book and yet she does justice to her subject by successfully bringing it alive on the page.

I'll Do It My Way is a worldwide bestseller, and has recently been translated into Turkish. "This book reflects my

my concern that not enough is being done to document India's cinematic history," says Christina.

Award winning author Jerry Pinto, too, has written a biography of the yesteryear actress Helen. His book, Helen: The life and Times of an H-Bomb, was also written without any real interaction between the

author and the subject. "My book was not about Helen's personal life. It was about her life as a screen icon," says Pinto. "If she had agreed to talk to me, I am sure she would have given me a great deal of

anecdotes about filmmaking; this is what Hindi film stars do best. I love reading about how Raakhee ji made fish curry for the whole set and how

Rajesh Khanna put on a cap to cover his singed hair in a song. But that's not what I am interested in writing about.

I am interested in the construction of identity. What is it that makes a hero? How does the soundtrack introduce him? What emotions are we expected to invest in him?"

The idea of writing about Helen was born when Jerry was having dinner with his publisher and editor Ravi Singh. "He said, 'Who do

Create an Online Business in 3 Easy Steps - Duration: 5:48.

Hi now why is it that so many people think that having an online business is

some kind of scam? The fact is, if you have a shop, if you sell a physical

product or an online product, or you offer a service. Most people serve their

immediate area, their local area. If you have a shop, the traffic (or the

passers-by) that's your traffic. A percentage of those will come into your

shop and then a percentage of those will actually buy something for you. You

are limited to your local area. If you had a digital product that you could

market online, all of a sudden your potential customers have expanded

globally. If you could create a video series, or write an

e-book that somebody can download. Anything that is downloadable or can be

streamed you can make money with. The sky really is the limit because you

can market to anybody all over the world, now what I'm offering is a short

three-step video series. If you just put in your email you'll get instant access

I'm going to show you a way that you can make money online, you can make a full time

income online like I do, where you don't need any computer skills at all,

coding or any of that if you can write an email especially if I

eventually even give you what to write in the email then you can do this

business. I work for an online education company I'm sure you would

agree about the value of education and ongoing education. I'm 45 years old and

it in your own time, online and that is what we're

selling we have a marketplace for every solution to everybody's problem whether

it's you want to learn presentation skills whether you want to learn about

public speaking about eBay dropshipping about setting up a website whatever

business problem you have right now we will have a solution to it but we also

offer an affiliate program so we offer training programs or masterminds held in

exotic locations around the world and you don't even have to make the sales

yourself the beauty is we have a phone sales team who actually

close the high ticket products for you and in return you make a substantial

commission. so take a look I'm going to take you behind the scenes on how it all

works how you get paid what exactly you have to do and how you do it because
