Barcelona transfer news: Arsenal want Ousmane Dembele but deal can only happen one way - Duration: 3:05.

Barcelona forward Dembele has been heavily linked with Arsenal as speculation over his Nou Camp future continues to rumble on

The France international could leave the Nou Camp in the wake of the Catalan giants' signing of Malcom, who signed from Bordeaux at the end of last month

However, Football London have now shed some light on whether or not a move to Arsenal from Barcelona can actually happen

Dembele has sent fans into overdrive by being snapped in London with Gunners stars Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette

Yet journalist Charles Watts, talking in a Twitter Q&A, says Arsenal will only be able to land Dembele on loan - and that looks a stretch

He told Football London when asked how close the Gunners were to signing Dembele: "Not close

"Sven Mislintat would love to get him, but Barca are adamant he is not going anyway

"Should that stance change and he suddenly become available next week, then I'm sure Arsenal would ask the question - but I can't see anyway how it could be any other deal other than a loan

They just couldn't afford him. "I wouldn't get your hopes up." Dembele signed for Barcelona from Borussia Dortmund in a huge £134million deal last summer

He failed to hit the heights many expected, though, hitting just four goals across all competitions

Reports in the past have claimed Ernesto Valverde has lost patience with Dembele - which is why he went for Malcom

But, speaking last week, Valverde labelled the 21-year-old as 'extraordinary.' "Let's hope it's his season," said Valverde

"He is an extraordinary player. The past year has been complicated because of the injuries, but even so he has brought us a lot

"The important thing is that there is competition within the team. There are a lot of matches and we can not handle them with only eleven players

" Arsenal have already made five signings so far this summer. Stephan Lichtsteiner, Bernd Leno, Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi have all arrived

Unai Emery would love to sign a winger, though, but Dembele seems out of his reach for now

Meghan Markle slammed for 'breaking' another Royal rule - but fans don't agree - Duration: 2:25.

Meghan Markle has been blasted for trying to hold Prince Harry's hand during a formal event

The Duchess of Sussex, 36, joined Harry at the Young Leaders Reception at Buckingham Palace

But footage from the ceremony shows Meghan stick her hand out in her husband's direction

It's a gesture etiquette experts have slammed — because they say the Royal family deem public displays of affection as inappropriate

In the clip, Harry, 33, brings his arms together near the centre of his body and the pair walk on as though nothing had happened

Can Harry and Meghan touch in public?  Robin Kermode, who trains professionals around the world on body language, had previously said: "The Queen rarely holds hands with her husband in public and this seems to have set an unwritten precedent for the other royals

"It is very clear that William and Kate are emotionally close, however, they do not seem to feel the need to prove their love — particularly when on official state business

"  But there is a no specific rule the couple cannot touch in public or no specific hand-holding policy

And others online have defended the actress.  "She isn't trying to hold his hand," wrote one man

"Leave the girl alone," posted an Instagram user.  And another said: "Why can't they just hold hands?" What is the Duchess Slant?  Meghan had previously come under fire for being disrespectful to the Queen for crossing her legs at the same event

Royal Protocol says a woman should not cross her legs one over the other during public events

Instead, the Duchess Slant involves crossing the legs at the ankle and setting them off to one side

Liverpool transfer target Christian Pulisic backed to sign… but there's a twist ● News Now ● #LFC - Duration: 2:08.

LIVERPOOL could ultimately land Borussia Dortmund sensation Christian Pulisic - but in a similar

way to how they signed Naby Keita.

That is according to German football expert and pundit Raphael Honigstein.

A fee was agreed with RB Leipzig last summer for Keita to move to Anfield in July.

And Liverpool are looking to raid the Bundesliga again at Jurgen Klopp's old club.

Chelsea are also keen on US teenage playmaker Pulisic, but the Reds want to lure him to

Merseyside.

With a deal unlikely to be struck ahead of next Thursday's Premier League transfer

deadline, though, attention could turn to 2019.

Honigstein feels Liverpool may see off competition for Pulisic, whose contract runs until 2020,

by settling for an arrival next year.

"If things don't change in terms of extending his contract is concerned, then he will then

definitely be sold in the summer of 2019," Honigstein told ESPN.

"That puts it into an interesting context because if you know there's a club now, you

wouldn't force a deal through this summer, you could say 'how about next summer?'.

"I think Liverpool, who have been very smart in recent years, could do almost 'a Keita'

and say, 'you know what, next summer, Dortmund have to sell you.

Why don't you come to us then?'

"'We'll do a do a deal now... of course it's not strictly legal, so you have to keep

it quiet'.

"But it's being done all the time in football, and that's a very realistic scenario."

Liverpool have spent the most of any Premier League club this summer following the signings

of Keita, Fabinho and Alisson.

Ann Dowd Loves the Patriots but Doesn't Get the Rules of Football - Duration: 2:57.

-You are a huge New England Patriots fan.

-Yes. -Which in my book --

Really, I am a fan of yours.

Makes you more evil than Aunt Lydia.

-Who do you -- Who do you like?

-Well, here's the thing. I grew up in New England.

And I'm saying this fully out of jealousy of the Patriots.

-Yeah. -I'm just jealous.

It comes from a petty place.

My dad's from Pittsburgh, and I'm a Steelers fan.

So it's been a rough... -Oh, I see.

-It's been a rough decade or so.

-I've got it. I understand.

-And are you -- I hear you're so intense that your children

don't like to be there when you're watching.

-Can I just say this to begin?

I don't get the rules of football.

-Okay. -You know how it is.

I think you have to kind of play it

to get the subtleties and all.

I get when they throw it and you catch it

and you run and you go through the -- Right?

-I mean, it seems like you're an expert.

-And there's points. [ Laughter ]

But because I suppressed it all of my growing up years,

because it's all that --

If football was on, there was no other option.

And I thought, "This is the most ridiculous nonsense."

Somehow when I hit 40, this bizarre beast came flying out.

And I scream. And I get hysterical.

And my children just quietly get up and they depart.

-That's so funny. -And they say to my husband,

"When it's over, could you let us know?"

I don't know what happens. You know?

-Yeah, my family's very much like that.

We say about our mom,

because she's a huge Steelers fan now, too, that every --

You explain the rules of football to her every play,

and then when a whistle is blown, she forgets it all.

So each play, you have to start over.

It's like "50 First Dates" with my mom and football.

-[ Laughs ] That's very funny.

-Now, you actually based --

You have another incredible character, Patti Levin,

on "The Leftovers", which is another incredible show.

[ Cheers and applause ] -Thank you very much.

-You played a cult leader. -Yep.

-And she was inspired by Bill Belichick.

-Bill Belichick.

Which I'm sure he's not amused by that, in any way.

-Here's the good news. He's not amused by anything.

-And I'm sure he doesn't care, mind you.

-Yeah, no. He doesn't -- Yeah.

-But the thing is, it was three episodes in,

and I said, "Who is this person that I'm playing?

I'm familiar with this person."

And I couldn't figure out what it was,

and then I thought, "Oh, it's Bill Belichick."

It was the sweatshirt. Hey, let's get real.

-Yeah, there you go. I think that you look --

Yeah, there you go.

[ Laughter ]

-It's so flattering. I mean...

I'm embarrassed. And look at the look.

But it's also the look there. Amazing.

And, also, he doesn't care one whit what anyone thinks.

-Yeah.

-And she didn't care particularly, either.

And so I thought, "Wow. That'll work."

-Yeah, it's a combination of effectiveness,

which you have to be

if you're either running the Patriots or a cult.

And... [ Laughter ]

Both at effectiveness and not caring what anybody thinks.

So I think that it was a very nice inspiration.

I tip my cap to your choice.

-Well, thank you. -Best of luck at the Emmys.

It's just absolutely lovely having you here.

Thank you so much. It's been a great pleasure.

-Ann Dowd, everybody.

Ivanka Trump Says Family Separation 'Was a Low Point' But Insists: 'We Are a Country of Laws' - Duration: 3:39.

As hundreds of migrant children remain separated from their parents, Ivanka Trump is speaking out about the family separations for the first time, saying the issue "was a low point" — but seemingly still supporting the crux of her father's unapologetic "solution" to the crisis: "Don't come to our country illegally

"  "That was a low point for me as well," President Donald Trump's daughter and senior adviser said at an Axios event in Washington, D

C., on Thursday. "I felt very strongly about that and I am very vehemently against family separation and the separation of parents and children so I would agree with that sentiment

Immigration is incredibly complex as a topic. Illegal immigration is incredibly complicated

"  The mom of three young children continued, "I am the daughter of an immigrant, my mother grew up in communist Czech Republic, but we are a country of laws

She came to this country legally and we have to be very careful about incentivizing behavior that puts children at risk of being trafficked, at risk of entering this country with coyotes or making an incredibly dangerous journey alone

"These are not easy issues, these are incredibly difficult issues and like the rest of the country, I experienced them actually in a very emotional way," Ivanka added

More than 2,500 undocumented migrant children have been separated from their parents at the U

S.-Mexico border since April as a result of Trump's "zero tolerance" immigration policy

Facing overwhelming backlash over the policy, the president later signed an executive order reversing the practice

As of last week's court-ordered deadline to reunite the families, 1 in 3 children remained separated from their parents, according to NBC News

Ivanka, 36, faced criticism for staying silent on the issue, with Maria Shriver notably calling on the first daughter to speak out against her father's policy

"You can't be an advocate for women, mothers and not speak up about what is happening to women and children at this moment," said Shriver, adding the hashtag, "#KeepFamiliesTogether

"  Despite Ivanka's silence, the White House seemed to be trying to paint the first daughter as a heroine in the crisis

During a meeting with House Republicans last month, Trump revealed that Ivanka had "talked to him about the images of children, and told him what a problem they are

"  White House spokesman Hogan Gidley also said that Ivanka met with her father to discuss family separations

"She offered the president her support and she said she would talk to any member of Congress to help find a legislative solution to the issue," Gidley told CNN at the time

On Thursday, Ivanka faced more blowback over her response to the crisis. Twitter users criticized her for being complicit in her father's policy, for not speaking out sooner, for making the family separations "all about her," and for referring to the ongoing crisis in the past tense

"Ivanka uses the past tense here as if children are not still currently separated from their parents and as if the administration in which she is purportedly a senior official has not stated it intends to resume separations if it does not obtain a favorable court order," tweeted Lawfare's Susan Hennessey, a former National Security Agency lawyer

"Imagine being Ivanka Trump and feeling comfortable saying that family separation was a low point for *you*," another Twitter user said

A third commenter wrote to Ivanka: "Your self serving display of pretend empathy does not absolve you of responsibility

You are complicit."

Buy-to-Let is DEAD! But what are the alternatives? - Duration: 2:28.

Are you a buy-to-let landlord or are you thinking of getting into buy to let? The

government is killing off the buy-to-let investment market. They have already

increased stamp duty by three percent they've taken away your wear and tear

allowance they have taken away your ability to offset all your mortgage

interest against your income. They are now increasing regulations which in turn

increases cost and did you know that even if you have an agent looking after

the property for you, you are still personally liable to make sure it meets

all the regulations. So ultimately you're getting less profit more cost and more

headache as time goes on. The government wants to professionalize the buy-to-let

industry they want professional landlords and drive up standards. So it's

best not to work against that let's embrace that and luckily there is an

alternative solution for people that want to be in buy to let and that

solution is crowdfunding. I'm Jatin Ondhia, CEO of Shojin Property Partners

through crowdfunding you can invest smaller amount across a range of

portfolios or properties the beauty is that crowdfunding companies will

usually purchase these properties in bulk and they'll get them cheaper than

you ever would and they pass on these savings to you they also take

care of all maintenance in management and meeting all the regulations so the

costs are going to be much lower but more importantly from a regulatory

standpoint you are not personally liable and they take care of all of that so for

you it's a more relaxed armchair investment. A lot of crowdfunding

companies also have a secondary trading platform where you can sell shares in

various projects if you ever want to and you can also take a the benefit on

capital gains tax allowances but ultimately in my view that the biggest

upside to investing through crowdfunding is investing in types of properties that

you wouldn't be able to do yourselves, things like student accommodation blocks

or warehouses or distribution centers and it doesn't matter that you don't

know anything about them because the crowdfunding company would source them

carry out all the due diligence and present a packaged product for you to

invest in. Ultimately this would deliver you

probably better returns and you would be getting on your individual buy-to-let

investment so ultimately buy-to-let is dead but crowdfunding is here and

presents a great opportunity. Please click on the link for more information

and if you like this video like share or comment thank you.

Esther McVey loses in court on Universal Credit but will still fight others - Duration: 4:43.

</form> In May I wrote about the distressing case of two men – one dying and one disabled – fighting Esther McVey in the high court over cuts to their support due to Universal Credit

This fight gave the lie to McVey's often repeated claims that "anyone who is moved to universal credit without a change of circumstance will not lose out in cash terms"

Before they were changed to UC, the men received Severe Disability Premium and Enhanced Disability Premium – benefits specifically designed to support around 500,000 severely disabled people in the UK who live alone without carers

Under UC, they were losing £178 of support every month.  Though the men can't be named for legal reasons, their testimonies make for harrowing reading

"TP" is a dying cancer patient who was left living in squalor during chemotherapy after moving to a Universal Credit area to receive treatment on his doctor's advice

Meanwhile "AR", who has severe mental health problems, was left starving and suicidal after being forced to move to a UC area by the bedroom tax

In June, Mr Justice Lewis ruled that Work and Pensions Secretary McVey had unlawfully discriminated against the men

Yet, this week, both men were back in court seeking compensation from the DWP.  Even worse, when McVey's department finally agreed to pay them, the Secretary of State's lawyers tried to keep the sum a secret

Mr Justice Lewis was having none of it. "You are the government and we should know what you are doing and what public money you are spending," he told the DWP

He even told the court: "The government is trying to hide something. they lost and they do not want to admit they lost

"  Finally, the two men have been properly compensated, but not without detailing their further distress

AR is now in a manic episode with hallucinations only controlled by medication. He described to the court how he had been living on one meal a day, supplemented by Jaffa Cakes, which he buys for £4 for 100

He spent the bitter winter with holes in his shoes and has lost two stone.  Meanwhile, in the last months of his life, TP has been unable to travel to spend time with his elderly parents because the DWP has left him destitute

He was also forced to reveal humiliating details of the squalid state of his flat and the embarrassment he feels because he can't afford to buy the new clothes he needs because his medication has led to him putting on weight

As if all of that wasn't enough, it seems that McVey is up to her old tricks again

Yesterday, the DWP confirmed to me that the Secretary of State will appeal the judicial review that found in the men's favour

A DWP spokesman added that "in the interim we have agreed to make payments to the lead claimants"

Meanwhile, in June, McVey announced that "we are changing the system" so that claimants on the Severe Disability Premium "will not be moved to Universal Credit until they qualify for transitional protection" and promised to recompense those who had already been moved on to UC

This seemed good news. Yet the draft regulations submitted by her department to the Social Security Advisory Committee are only proposing to pay those already in UC areas £80 a month

AR and TP were losing around £180 a month. That's a £100 shortfall.  Thousands of UC claimants will be affected by this pathetic refusal to just pay up and let people get on with living their lives, or dying in peace

Tessa Gregory, from law firm Leigh Day, who represented the two men, says her clients "call upon the Secretary of State to urgently reconsider" transitional protections

TP says he is "delighted" with the result but says the government must now "deal further with the obvious significant flaws in the roll-out of the Universal Credit system for disabled people to ensure that it is indeed fit for purpose and that a true safety net exists"

This week, MPs heard that the UC system is "handing power to domestic abusers" by making a single household payment

The long waits for help under UC continue to drive impoverished families below the breadline

Meanwhile, there are multiple other groups suffering because of this deeply flawed benefit

Among them, in a bizarre postcode lottery, thousands of severely disabled people who have had the misfortune to live in areas where UC is already rolled out

Liverpool transfer news: Jurgen Klopp can afford Nabil Fekir but deal requires one thing - Duration: 2:42.

Liverpool boss Klopp made Fekir his top target at the start of the summer transfer window

The Lyon hotshot appeared poised to arrive back in June after images of him in a Reds jersey and conducting an interview with the club's in-house television channel surfaced online

Liverpool are yet to go back in for Fekir, who has also been linked with giants such as Manchester United, Real Madrid and Chelsea in the past

And the Liverpool Echo's James Pearce says that while the Reds can afford Fekir, fans need Klopp to change his mind on the 24-year-old

He said: "Klopp has shown throughout his time at Liverpool that if he can't get exactly what he wants he's prepared to wait rather than just chase an inferior alternative for the sake of it

"Clearly, he wanted Fekir but that deal collapsed due to concerns over an old knee injury

"The money is there for Klopp to further strengthen if he wishes but barring a late change of heart he seems happy to push on with what he's got

" Pearce also opened up on the futures of Marko Grujic and Lazar Markovic. Grujic has been tipped to leave Liverpool, while the club are frantically searching for Markovic buyer

And Pearce added: "I still think a season-long loan at Cardiff is the most likely move for Grujic

"There had been talk about him moving permanently with Lazio keen but LFC would prefer that he signs a contract extension and then goes on loan

He has a lot of potential. "Markovic has no future at LFC and will leave permanently but there is no massive rush on that as he can go abroad any time before the end of August

"Olympiacos are keen, along with Anderlecht, Leganes, Getafe. He's down to the final year of his contract

" Liverpool have already made four big signings this summer. Naby Keita, Fabinho, Alisson Becker and Xherdan Shaqiri have all touched down on Merseyside

Will the nation's biggest unions endorse Trump? No, but it's complicated. - Duration: 5:07.

Richard Trumka, president of the AFL-CIO, at the labor organization's 2013 convention in Los Angeles

(Kevork Djansezian/Reuters) by David Weigel August 3 at 8:50 AM Email the author The question was deceptively simple

At a Wednesday breakfast hosted by the Christian Science Monitor, AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka was asked whether the nation's largest union might endorse President Trump for a second term

Trumka, who had been supportive of the president's overall tariff strategy, did not say "no

" But he told John Gizzi, who works for the conservative publication Newsmax, not to get carried away

"I don't want to see in your story: Trumka says he'll endorse Trump," Trumka said

"I'm not saying that. I'm saying, we'll consider every candidate who's running, and our members will help us decide that

" A few hours later, Gizzi's story went up with the headline "AFL-CIO's Trumka Won't Rule Out Unions Endorsing Trump in 2020

" Randi Weingarten, the president of the American Federation of Teachers, went after Trumka on Twitter, before the AFL-CIO condemned the "clickbait" framing of Trumka's quote

In reality — and as the story said, below the headline — Trumka mixed some praise for Trump's trade strategy with criticism of his labor policies

In the 2016 election, Trump had famously outperformed a generation of Republican candidates with union voters and voters from union households

Since then, he had slipped in the polls with union voters, and Trumka argued that it had happened after he followed more-traditional Republican tactics

While he was "going in the right direction on trade," Trump had not done enough on wages or health care

"When he does something that's right for workers, I tell workers around the country that he's right," Trumka said

"When he does something that's bad for workers, I tell them it's bad. And unfortunately, the number of things we've had to oppose is greater than the number of things we've been able to support

Workers are still finding things getting worse for them, not better for them. It doesn't matter if unemployment's at 3

9 percent if their wages are low, they don't have health care and they can't afford to send their kids to school

" Why, then, was Trumka unable to clarify the AFL-CIO's 2020 endorsement? It had a lot to do with the way that the union makes that call

According to its official rules: AFL-CIO presidential endorsements are determined by a two-thirds vote of the General Board which consists of all members of the Executive Council and the principal officer of each affiliated, national or international union, the principal officer of each trade and industrial department, a representative of each national constituency organization, and allied retiree organization, and young worker organization recognized by the Federation, a representative of each chartered national community affiliate, and regional representatives of the state, area, and local central bodies selected by the Executive Council pursuant to a system promulgated by the Council

Those rules, since 1976, have led to AFL-CIO endorsements for Democrats. But they do not always come easily

In 2016, the union did not endorse Hillary Clinton for president until mid-June, after she had effectively secured the Democratic nomination

In 2020, Trump's political operation would be able to appeal to AFL-CIO affiliates — especially building-trade unions — on the basis of his tariff policies and potentially the renegotiation of current trade agreements

That was less than the promises Trump made as a candidate, which included a massive infrastructure package that was never introduced

But it was more than most Republicans had been able to offer. "Two-thirds for Trump is inconceivable, but unanimity against Trump might be hard," said Jeff Hauser, a former communications manager at the AFL-CIO
