Sharing your Google data with Apps - New - Duration: 1:48.
Rosa's been stressed lately, and her friend
told her about this cool meditation app.
She's thinking about using it to find times
to help her meditate daily.
- I know Google didn't develop this app,
so if I share my Google account data with it,
what does it get access to?
- The app gets your basic profile information, which is
your profile photo, name, and email address.
And if you choose, you can share additional data such as
your contacts or, as this example demonstrates, Google Calendar.
While Google warns you about some apps that could be risky,
before you click "ALLOW," think about if you're comfortable
sharing data with this app and what the app can do with your data.
If you allow an app to view your data, the app
may keep it's own copy of the data you've shared.
Also be careful if an app is asking to write or manage your data,
Because then, the app can act independently.
It can change your Google data, like rescheduling
or deleting events on your Google Calendar
- I'm comfortable sharing data with this app.
It's only asking to view my calendar data, not write or manage it,
which makes sense because all I want it to do is suggest
meditation breaks around my schedule. I'll allow it.
- That app did just what I needed it to, but I'm done using it
so I don't want it to have access to anymore of my Google data.
- Although an app could have copied the data you've already shared,
you can prevent it from accessing future data by signing into
"g.co/securitycheckup," then going to "Third-Party Access"
to remove apps with access.
- Got it!
I think I'm getting the hang of when to share and remove access.

How to Use AI to Find A Job (5 Steps from Google Executive 2018) - Duration: 7:04.
Hey what's up? today, my guest is Richard Liu
He worked for Google for over 8 years
across various projects
and during his time there
he hired over 500 people across different departments
and he left Google to make his own
job searching platform called leap.ai
that uses ai and machine learning
to make job searching 10x easier and 10x faster
and so in this video
we're going to talk about how you can use ai
to find yourself a better job or a new job
Hey What's up? Today i got Richard he is a
CEO and co-founder of Leap.ai
a new platform that uses ai to find you a job
it's not only going to find you a new job, it's you AI Career Advisor
and so today he's going to tell us
the 5 steps of using AI to get a job
it's super easy, when you go to leap.ai website, you upload your resume
because a lot of ai's claims to have ai but does not work. we wont let you wait in no time
once your resume is uploaded, instantly we'll tell you based on your resume alone
which company is a good fit for you
ofcourse, you'll say "i'm more than my resume"
"based on my resume alone, that's not good enough"
here are additional things you can do
answer some questions to specify your passion
what do you value? which industry are you passionate about?
what type of functions do you want to do?
your career is not about your passion but also based on what you're really good at
what are your secret strengths
we have some questions
that try to capture what you're really good at, what are your top skills
you can even invite your friends to comment on your strengths and skills
specify your preferences
what is the timeline, location or those type of things
and when it's done
instantly, our AI will tell you the matches for you
and based on what the company is looking for, based on who you are
we tell you why you should pursue this company
and this a true machine learning platform as you get more users
the platform gets smarter, i'm recommending things
ofcourse
a few things i want to point out
a bunch of people claim they have used AI for recruiting
most of them present their results to recruiters
we are the only one in the world
giving results to the consumers directly
we do it in realtime
so that means no way for me to have somebody manually give results for you
we launched the product and we have a lot of good feedback
yeah, and i think i'm not going to name any platforms
i would question and call it machine learning because it's like "tags" things
for example, if you put data science in your resume
then it will show you data science positions
it really sounds data science.
you are just copying the words and do a search based on the resume
so what makes your platform different?
can you talk about how the technology works?
i have a lot of people watching my channel who are interested in machine learning
and i think they'll be a little bit curious
don't overcomplicate it. break it down for someone
maybe you're eating dinner with a friend and you want to explain how leap.ai
finds those quality matches. how would you break it down to them?
looking at our model, it has 3 layers
the first layer is, we try to understand your resume
2nd layer is we try to go deeper trying to understand semantics of your resume
how is your career trajectory? was it fast growing? was it moving pretty slow?
you work on machine learning, you work on lower tier, infrastracture or application
or you're just a user of some other people's package
we try to understand so we can frame how deep you are in certain area
how good your career trajectory is
the 3rd layer is the final machine learning
we have a bunch of data
about your resume,
about your passion
your strenghts, your preferences
and then we consolidate data
and then we match with a model
and then we tell you which company is best fit for you
awesome! i think that's a great breakdown and concise too.
and also i think it's simple enought that anybody at home listening
can understand
and so if you wanna use ai
to make your job search 10x faster, 10x easier
i included a link to leap.ai in the description down below
go check it out
and it's a very easy to use job search platform
and if you do land a job through leap.ai, leap.ai will pay you $500
as a little congratulations for getting a job through the platform
but you do have to use masslink to get that $500
because we establish a colaboration
so thank you Richard for being our guest
and explained to us how someone could use leap.ai
to better their job search and i think
a lot are excited to see how ai technology take us in the future
and this is one of the exciting uses
hey, i hope you enjoyed the interview with Richard
He left his Senior Executive role at Google
to start a company calle Leap.ai
and it's a job searching paltform
that uses ai to make your job search 10x easier, 10x faster
and it is the first job searching platform
to use AI which means it gets more accurate as it collects more data from its users
so i specially negotiated a deal with leap.ai
where if you use my link to sign up for the platform
leap.ai will give you $500 after you land a job
so if you are ready to get your next job in tech
use my link in the description to sign up for leap.ai

Linking Google Scholar to Lancaster University Library collections - Duration: 2:59.
Hello and welcome to this short video on linking Google Scholar to library
collections. The reason you might want to link Google Scholar to library
collections is that lots of people really like the simplicity of searching
Google Scholar. It's free easy to use and provides Quick Links to millions of
scholarly articles books and papers. However Google Scholar can't provide you
with access to papers which require a paid for subscription. To avoid being asked
to pay for articles that the library has already paid for on your behalf you can
update your Google Scholar settings. Before I do that I'll just run a really
quick search in Google Scholar. In Google scholar you can use double quotes to
phrase search and you can add multiple keywords so I can do a search here for
'attitudes towards end of life care for children with cancer' and you can see
here that we've got lots of links Google Scholar is trying to pick up on open
access publications and because I'm based on campus at the moment it's
already trying to link with us our collections in the background. However we
can see this top one has no link and so we'd be asked to pay for that so for
that article if we go to the three lines at the top of the google scholar page we
can open the options menu go down to the settings cog and here we can see an
option for library links. Click on library links and in the search box. Type
in Lancaster University and hit the search button. You'll see that we now have
an option for 'Lancaster University find it at Lancaster'. Click Save and now we
can see we've got a link through to find it at Lancaster. If we click on the link
we're redirected to onesearch and we can see the article information from
onesearch. Please bear in mind if you're searching Google Scholar from
off-campus it won't automatically recognize that you're a member of Lancaster
University even if you have the library link set up. You'll still need to
log into onesearch click login and then staff and students. Pop in your details
and then you'll be logged in to onesearch. Then if we click on the link
through to the publishers website you can download the PDF from there. I hope
that was helpful and please do check out our other videos on making the best use
of library collections. Thanks very much!
