Youtube daily google Aug 6 2018

My name is Angela Park. My name is Linda Barth. I'm Laura Napolitano. My name is

Jen Schaefer, and I'm the UX content strategy lead for the travel team. So as

part of the user experience team, I think about who's using our products all the

time. Being a content strategist means making sure content contributes to a

great user experience. Video, photo, text, anything that adds that little extra bit

to a consumer-facing product, that's probably related to content strategies.

The editorial role within a tech company I think is a particularly unique

position to be in. We are at the forefront of a lot of new products,

including Google Home and the Assistant, writing content for augmented

reality and Daydream. So I work really closely with product managers and

designers and engineers, so it's really collaborative and fun and mostly based

on true problem solving. A small text tweak can mean literally millions of dollars

in a revenue boost. Sometimes I just can't believe the impact we can have

with words. At Google I think the culture and the people are as important as the

products we build. Googlers tend to be really passionate, really smart, and

really driven. I wanted to come and work for Google because it's so great to be

at a company whose beliefs are aligned with my own, that supports all people,

very supportive of diversity and really it wants to reach everyone in the world,

the world is the audience. For a time I was running a team both in New York and

London and I had the flexibility to take meetings from home when I needed to meet

with my London team and that allowed me to take my kids to school before I come

in. That makes a huge difference. At every turn it feels like the company

is taking care of you.

Google Pixel 2 XL Unboxing and Review | Pete - Duration: 11:39.

Hey, what is up YouTube, this is Pete bringing you a new video

This time is gonna be an unboxing video of my new Google pixel 2 XL

I know the phone is been out for a while and soon. We're probably gonna see Google pixel three, but you know what? It's my

Unboxing because I just got the phone and I'm super excited for this

Before we get started if you are new I'd like you to subscribe to my channel and also turn on your post notifications

So you always be notified when I upload a new video. I mainly upload gameplays and stuff like that

But I also going to be uploading some

reviews and

Some unboxing videos as well

And if you enjoyed this video also, make sure that you leave a like and share if you have any questions

Feel free to drop them down in the comment section

Okay, so when I first thought of switching to Android after being with Apple's iPhone for over five years

It seemed like a really bad idea

however, as I start to do a little bit more research it all came clear to me that Google pixel to excel could be a

Phone that will suit my needs perfectly and it might even do better than my current iPhone X

So without further ado, let's unbox this bad boy, shall we alright?

so this one here is a UK version of Google pixel to excel and

Just black they also are available in

Black and white I believe

This is 64 gigabytes built-in memory

This one has non expandable memory. So if you are after a really a lot of memory, you probably want to get the bigger version

With me, I'm not really bothered that much since Google gives you unlimited storage for your pictures and videos

This is where I'm gonna be keeping all my stuff

And the main reason what I wanted to get this phone was its camera because it can shoot some amazing amazing

videos as well as really really nice photographs both rear and the front camera are

amazing on this one as well as obviously this is

You know pure Google so all the updates all the all the perks and stuff

I'm gonna be the first to get it the phone comes with Oreo

8.1. I believe at this point or at this one might still 8.0 Oreo

However, I believe the latest update is 8.1. I think

But don't quote me on that one. Alright, so

Let's see, what's inside. Oh

Man I'm so excited for that one

This is so good so

Guys, we got a phone

As you can see the screen looks absolutely amazing. You got a rear-mounted

Fingerprint sensor, which I really like

do LED flash as well as your

Camera rear camera right there little Google logo like that one. It's not too much in your face

now this one does not have

A 3.5 millimeter jack just like my current iPhone X

but I'm not really bothered about this cuz I got really a nice set of Bluetooth earbuds as well as this phone comes with a

Little adapter so that should be okay

The phone is obviously water-resistant ip67 certified. So it's technically water and dust resistance

Let's see. What else is in a box here. So what we have is a little

Welcome guide as well as the pin to pop your SIM card tray so you can put your SIM card inside. Let's get started

Man, that's so good. Be safe. Let's put the society that's boring. Now. This is really cool

They include a OTG adapter which will allow me to

Switch all my stuff simultaneously from my iphone

To new Google pixel to excel and that should be quite easy to do as they claim. Let's see what else is there?

So what we're gonna have is this

Adapter for your for your

3.5 millimeter female Jack here. So for your for your headphones favorite headphones favorite earbuds that you guys have you can use that one

so that's pretty awesome and

And obviously this is your charging lead on Balfanz we're gonna see a USB as type C

So yeah, pretty nice. It feels really good. And

Inside as well. We're gonna find a standard UK and just pull this aside right there standard to UK type

power brick which this by the way is

Allowing you to do a fast charge right from the start unlike with Apple

Which if you want to get the fast charging capabilities out of your iPhone, you've got to purchase an additional

You know power break which will allow you to do it unless if you've got an iPad power brick that usually works with the iPad

power brick so

Let's fire up this bad boy here

Man, I'm so excited for this phone. It's been like I said, it's been about five years

I

Was with Apple so this is gonna be a whole new experience

I'm not going to put my SIM card or anything in it right now. I'm gonna just, you know, wait for everything and stuff

Let me just connect to the Wi-Fi here

Yeah, we're just gonna set it up as new I'm gonna do all my transferring later on

so this phone by the way guys features beautiful six inch

screen with amazing aspect ratio of 1440 by 28 80 pixels with

538 PPI density

Snapdragon 805 chipset octa-core processor 4 gig of ram and

The thing is that basically what they give you here, is this unlimited storage. So let me just sign in with my Google

so after re-entering

Your pen or whatever you guys want to use it whether it's pattern or pin. You can set it up with the fingerprint

I'm not gonna bother for now. So we're gonna skip that oh

Man how can I help you? This is so good. Just leave it for now next. Oh

Man this is so good. Oh you can add another account. Yes

I've heard about that one that with this one. What you can do is you can set up multiple accounts

So you can sign it that you can have like guest users and stuff like that. So it's pretty pretty pretty awesome

The biggest reason again what I've switched to this one is gonna be its camera

By default, you guys don't have to go and change some settings and stuff

But even that the camera looks pretty amazing and you know, it's gonna do some amazing job with with the pictures

I might do some photos later on and some little videos and I'm gonna add that into this video. So stay tuned

See what it is out of the glass. The phone feels absolutely amazing. It's really really snappy

So I'm really really pleased with this you guys let me know in the comments what you guys think

do you think that I did a good decision going to Google pixel from iPhone X or

Maybe not. I'm quite happy so, you know, I don't really I don't really mind whatever you guys gonna say

But I wanted to talk about the camera real quick

Because obviously the biggest hype of this device is its camera. So the 12 megapixel camera 12.2 r/t?

Megapixel camera has dual pixel which has face detection autofocus as well as laser focus

Dual LED flash and high dynamic range panorama and awesome portrait more gas really awesome portrait mode

Front facing camera is 8 megapixel with high dynamic range

Which also features portrait mode for those perfect selfies?

And this thing can make some serious pictures

Let me tell you that the way this is achieved is whenever you guys take a picture with this phone

it will basically take like a

Take like a burst of shots and it will combine them

Google a I will basically analyze each one of these photographs in a split of a second and will combine then

Combine those into one beautiful shot

So overall, I'm extremely excited for the change and I've been hearing a lot of good things about this one

Alright guys, that'll be everything for this video. Thank you so much for watching

I hope you guys enjoyed this video

if you did do me a favor and leave your like under the video also, share it and

You know

If you guys have any questions

feel free to drop them down in the comments as well as subscribe to the channel if you are new and if you will

Then also don't forget to press that notification button because it really is working pretty well

it does let you know whenever I upload a new content on my channel and

So you guys that's pretty much it Pete out. I'll see you guys in the next video. Peace

Analyze Google Ranking History for ANY Keyword (Ahrefs' Position History = Unlocked) - Duration: 8:56.

What's up marketers?

Sam Oh here with Ahrefs, the SEO tool that helps you grow your search traffic, research

your competitors and dominate your niche.

So, word on the street is that Ahrefs has unlocked the position history feature for

all of our "Advanced plan" customers.

Before, advanced users could only see the Google ranking history for the past 6 months

for a keyword, which may not have given you a full scope on a page's ranking history.

But that limitation?

Removed.

So, let's dive right into some actionable tactics, techniques, and strategies that you

can use for your keyword research and your other SEO tasks using position history.

The position history graph can be found in two places outside of Rank Tracker.

And those tools are Keywords Explorer and Site Explorer.

And a massive difference here is that Rank Tracker's position history graph only shows

you the ranking history from the time that you add the keyword to your project, while

our other tools will show you the position history for years!

Now, there are different ways to extract actionable insights from each tool and their respective

ranking history graphs.

First is in Keywords Explorer.

Just type in a keyword phrase you want to analyze and scroll down a touch to the SERP

position history graph.

Here, you'll see the history of the current top 5 ranking pages.

The main use case for this graph inside Keywords Explorer is to analyze SERP volatility.

So are the ranking pages stable or are they jumping in and out of the top 5, 10 or even

top 100 pages.

So you can see that for the search query, "keyword research," the top ranking results

are quite stable.

This tells us a few things.

#1. The search intent for this term is very clear.

Looking at the top 10 results, you can see that almost all of the top ten ranking pages

are "how-tos" or some sort of guide.

And the other two results are Google Keyword Planner and another tool from serps.com.

The main one that stands out is from Keyword Planner.

They have up to 75 times more unique websites linking to their page than the others, yet they still

rank below some of the pages.

So I would take this as an indication that a tool may not be the best way to serve a

searcher's intent for this keyword.

But they still rank because of the sheer amount of quality links.

The position history graph adds a nice extra layer of data to the SERP results so you can

know with confidence which way to attack your target keyword.

So that might be in the form of a how-to guide, a list post, a product page, category page,

or a tool.

The second thing you can do with this graph is to get an idea of ranking velocity.

So if I uncheck the results except our post on keyword research, you'll see that it

popped in and out of the SERPs for months, before we started to get any kind of consistent rankings.

You can see it took about 10 months to rank in the top 5 for this keyword phrase.

And this is a great way to find out how long it might take you to rank and also see which

dates are worth analyzing on your competitors' pages.

Just click on the caret beside the URL, and go to the overview page.

Next, I'll click on "All time" to see the full history since the big jumps on rankings

were over a year ago and scroll down to the New and Lost referring domains graph.

And you'll see that there was a sudden spike in links in April 2017.

Knowing this, you can go to the new backlinks report, select the custom dates for April

2017, and deconstruct your competitors' link building strategies.

Common things you'll find are guest posting campaigns, outreach campaigns, consolidating

content with 301 redirects, PBNs, or sometimes you'll see negative SEO attacks.

I'll get into some more takeaways from this in a bit, but let's look at the keyword

"football," which will show us a completely different kind of result.

Football has a few definitions.

In the northwest, people think of this.

While in the east, people think of this.

Scrolling down to the position history graph for the US search results, you'll see that

the SERPs have been super volatile.

And this tells us that the search intent isn't exactly 100% clear.

Even though most people in the US call this game, "soccer," we can't generalize

that term to every person searching from the United States.

And here's an interesting point to this graph.

If I switch off all of the pages except this one from ESPN, which is related to European

football, or soccer, you'll see that the page appeared out of nowhere.

And this is likely due to increased search queries because of the World Cup.

If we look at the graph for search results in the UK, then you'll see that the search

intent seems to be more clear.

All of these pages are news related category pages.

So here are some key takeaways from graphs like these.

With stable position history graphs like in the keyword research example, you can expect

it to be tough to penetrate the top ranking results.

You'll need to continually build and earn high quality links to get there, which might

take years.

But a huge pro to this is that if you do, you'll likely be able to retain that spot

for the longer term.

Now with highly volatile SERPs, it can be easier to get a top ranking result without

many backlinks.

Look at the US SERPs for the keyword, "football."

You'll see that a couple of the pages barely have any referring domains.

But retaining that ranking is unpredictable.

And this is why understanding search intent is so important.

With this data, you can approach keywords and topics with some kind of confidence because

you'll know what you're getting yourself into.

So weigh out your options and take things from there.

Alright, onto some use cases in Site Explorer.

First, you'll need to enter in a URL, prefix, or a domain.

So I'll do a prefix search for ahrefs.com/blog/.

And then I'll go to the organic keywords report to see all of the keywords that our

blog ranks for.

To open up the position history graph, just click on the icon beside any of the keywords,

and you'll see all of the pages on your target website that have ranked for this term

in the top 100 search results over the set period of time.

So the first way we can use this is to identify keyword cannibalization issues.

Keyword cannibalization is when a website unintentionally targets the same keywords

across multiple posts or pages.

Usually the result is that none of the pages rank particularly well.

So in general, after you find cannibalization issues, you can start consolidating the content

and redirect lower performing pages to the higher performing ones.

I know that our post on broken link building had a bit of an issue before, so if you look

at the history, you'll see that we have one URL that's broken link building, and the other,

which is broken link building method.

So if you have this issue, you can copy the URLs, then go to the batch analysis tool.

Next, paste in the URLs and look at the traffic, as well as the referring domains column.

And you can see that this one is clearly the winner.

And we actually added a 301 redirect here on December 7, 2017, and you can see a slight

increase in organic traffic here.

And then we actually rewrote the guide in April 2018 and it's had much better traffic

growth plus a number one ranking for our target keyword, broken link building.

Another way that some of our agency users have used this graph is to simply take a screenshot

and send it to their clients to show them how bad their keyword cannibalization issues are.

I can only imagine that it helps in converting customers since the issue is so clear on this

graph and it makes you look like a pro who knows what they're doing.

But hey, not all keyword cannibalization issues are really issues at all.

In general, if you're consistently seeing a page from the same domain rank in positions

1 and 2 for a long period of time, then it could be a good thing.

And the most common way that I've seen this is through branded queries.

For example, if we look up the history on the keyword "Zappos shoes," then you can

see that multiple pages from Zappos have consistently ranked high in Google search for different

categories like women's, men's and kid's.

In fact, our very own Tim Soulo was teasing Moz about their keyword cannibalization issue

on the search query, "keyword difficulty."

Another awesome feature is that you can add your competitors on this graph, so you can

get really cool insights on how different pages from different websites have performed

against each other.

So I'll look at the graph for "long tail keywords" and add a couple of our organic

search competitors like Backlinko and Moz.

Next, I'll clean up the graph by just showing the best ranking page from each site.

And since we've all been in the top 20 for a while, I'll narrow our graph down to that

view.

From here, you can start analyzing the pattern in SERP rankings across these different pages.

If you're comparing 3 similar pages, you might find that they have related patterns

when they move up and down.

So a few things that come to mind is that it could be a search intent issue.

So, if you see all of the pages dropping on the same days, or you might see new competitors

penetrating the SERPs, or possibly even algorithmic updates, dare I say those words.

Or if you see one of your competitors skyrocketing to the top, then you're able to go back

and look at their links from specific dates to analyze what they did to climb the rankings.

That might be a new link building campaign, consolidating content, updating their content

or a number of other reasons.

And I'm sure you can see, there are a ton of ways to use ranking history, whether that's

for your own website or to provide visual reports for your clients.

And adding this extra layer of data to your keyword research, competitor analysis, and

technical SEO tasks are only going to give you an edge over your competition.

And I've only briefly covered a few of the techniques.

So, I'd love to hear from you on how you use this graph, or if you haven't used them

yet, which technique will you be trying first?

So give these research methods a shot, get results, and I'll see you in the next tutorial.

How to get a job at Google (Software Engineer 2018) - Duration: 15:30.

Hey, What's up? In this episode, I got Richard Liu

He worked for Google for over 8 years

during his time, he's hired over 500 people

at Google

he left google to make his own

job searching platform called Leap.ai

that uses AI to make job searching

10x easier, 10x faster

and so i thought he'd be the perfect guest

to tell us

how to get a job at Google

Hey, What's up? today i got Richard

He's the CEO and Founder of Leap.ai

and he worked at Google for 8 years

having his own department

how many people have you hired at Google?

about 500 people into different departments

so you've hired about 500 people

into google over your 8 years

so idon't think there's too many people

more experienced in answering the question

"how do you get a job at Google?"

and the first point that you wrote down was

"you do not need a degree"

Absolutely. you don't have to have a degree

my co-founder, he was in Google for 10 years

he's even younger than me

when he joined Google, His Tech Lead

did not have a degree

so that's very very certain

that you don't need a degree

okay then, so if someone does not have a degree

how can they prove themselves to Google

that they are competent

Coder? What would they have to submit?

i think Google

does not focus on

whatever which degree you have

and focused more on

what kind of stuff you can do

how good a coder you are

you can easily prove yourself

if you have worked on amazing projects

in your resume, demonstrate

technical depths of those projects

or you have submissions

you probably have worked with somebody

who knows how capable you are

and writing to google that you have that person as a reference and endorse for you

that would be enough to open the door for you

when it comes to being a software engineer at Google

what if you know a particular language

that they are not looking for?

say, you're really good at Perl

Google doesn't need Perl, will they still hire you?

but you're absolutely good at Perl

are you disqualified automatically because

you don't know the language they're looking for?

i think Google is looking for wide range of languages

java, c++, python... a bunch of languages

as long as you have 1 modern languages

i have to use "modern languages"

Perl, is not considered as modern language

you get a chance to pick which language

you want to use in your interview

and most of those guys, they understand

all the languages even if they cannot write many languages

as for myself, my c++ was very rusty

but if someone writes c++, i can understand

if someone wants to get a job at Google

as a software engineer,

what's the number one language that they should learn?

that would make it easiest for them

to become a software engineer at Google?

the most popular languages are

java, C++ and python

perfect! alright, so number 2

you wrote down

Google cares less about previous experience

and more about how you think

Yeah, definitely. not only how you think

but also your true capability and potential

it does not matter if you don't have years of experience

if you have good computer science foundation

if you are smart and driven

and can pick-up stuff very quickly

you can grow like crazy

based on my experience

for experienced people that come to Google,

some of them have troubles adapting to

Google environment

because they would say "I have done this in this way."

if you come to Google, you have to totally

adapt yourself to their environment

if you are a junior and have high potential

you are good in learning, dreaming

you can actually "kick the ball very well"

i think the common misconception is that

you need 4 tears of experience

as a developer

or as a software engineer

before you get a job at Google

but you are saying you don't

Google, actually hire a lot of fresh grads

point number 3 you said is "Practice"

if you are hired at Google, you will write a ton of codes

you will be assessed with different algorithms

with system design

so let me share one story,

when I joined Google, I was pretty senior there

I was managing over 100 people

and i was not prepared

and asked me to write codes

"can you write some code on the board"?

I happen to be able to write a code

but in reality, they will ask you to write tons of code

then how do you do it?

then you just have to practice

go to all kind of website

do code practice

one of my friend's company, Leetcode

it's a very good place for people practising codes

which website should people practice coding?

one of my friend's company, Leetcode

4th, 2nd to last point is

get a quality referral

tons of people submitted to companies like Google,

and most of the resumes are filtered out

and if you have a very strong referral

a referral, really knows your work

and can put some good words about you

instead of just submitting resume for you

" I happen to know Matt, and this guy is really

generous guy, very very easy to work with..."

and you put some nice words

and that will check a lot of things

and if you have senior people to say

very good things about you

those referral comments will hepl you tremendously

how can they get a quality referral?

we have a blog actually in Leap.ai website

we already talked about the power of referral

first tier referral

somebody who is senior and know you really well

the 2nd tier of referral

somebody who is not that senior in a company

but knows you really well

3rd tier of referral

somebody who is senior but doesn't know you well

the worst referral that become less valuable

somebody who is junior and doesn't know you well

best way is

you are tapping to somebody who really knows your work

if i don't know you Matt,

i can only put a general word

"i only know Matt socially"

"he seems to be a nice guy and smart to talk with."

"but i don't know his technical capabilities"

those type of referral will be less valuable

so try to find somebody who really knows your work

where could they find someone valuable?

my suggestion is, this doesn't just apply to

software engineering

i told my audiences to go to conferences

i told them to go to meetups

to go to masterminds

to go to social events as much as they can

layed up to what they do

it can be a happy hour

the good thing about coding is that

it's a very passionate community

code talks, like Google

or maybe some tech company like your company

Leap.ai might do a talk

like coding bootcamp or something like that

would you say that it's the best way to find referrals?

we actually have a program called Advisor

you can go there looking for advisor

in this case, you can request somebody

from Google, and we match you with

somebody from google and you talk to that person

basically, you get a free interview

and that person can say...

"i really enjoyed chatting with Matt,

and he seems to be a smart guy

and i want to refer him"

done!

by the way, that's a little sneaky

call to action, go check out leap.ai

which i'll include a link in the description

below, and if you use my link

you'll get $500 when you get your job

through leap.ai

lets move on to the last point

understand how Google evaluates people they interview

i think that is the most important part

many people think after the interview they got the answers right

and they think they have done a great job

you know what?

you probably did not do as good as you think

a lot of times when they ask questions

they have multiple steps

so if i ask you, usually i have 5 steps

a weak candidate can only get 2 steps done

that person feel good, time is up

then i don't ask further quetion

but indeed, you only done 2 steps

i would only give you average score

but the really strong ones continue to

step 3 and step 4

the best ones gets to step 5

then you would know

if you get grilled

and many more follow up questions

especially the last one you feel very very hard

don't feel bad about yourself

because you have gone much further

than most of the candidates

so that's number 1

actually if you have gone through

multiple steps, most likely you have done well

2nd is, they care more how you think

than the right answer

instead of chasing down the answer

you really have to demonstrate how you think

and if you are given a question

at the moment you don't really know how to do it

you have just to say so

"when i'm still searching to optimize

algorythms for this, let me start booth algorythms"

so that you get it going and you are making progress

and make a better version of it

in this process, you are sharing your view

about your idea and the steps

people will know that not only you can

write a code but also you are

able to communicate aswell

in reality, at work, you are not only coding

you are also communicating with other people

interviewing you is just a window of how you work with people

and also by demonstrating that you're good at communicating

that;s another thing they are looking for

not only looking for your beautiful code,

but also your communication skills

looking for your style,

will you fit in Google, are you a good listener

are you open to new ideas

are you able to handle critics

all of those things are important factors

in their evaluation

i think in particular, i konw my audience

always think about the technical abilities

but if you made it to the interview

you are most likely to be disqualified because of your personality

I would say no, in Google, actually...

many people, for engineers

half of their skills are technical abilities

being technical is definitely a key factor they're looking for

but the data is not the only thing

Pixel 3 XL - You're Doing It Wrong, Google! - Duration: 2:58.

As we know already, the Pixel 3 XL will come with a notch and if that wasn't bad enough,

it'll only have 4GB RAM.

The device has appeared on GeekBench which is a benchmarking site by the way and it shows

that the scores are on par with the Snapragon 845 chipset.

But it also shows Google is going to deliver the new Pixel range with just 4GB of RAM,

and this is problematic for several reasons.

We've been hearing multiple reports of Pixel 2 devices slowing down.

MKBHD made a video on this recently and explained that pixels 2 Xl is already starting to lag.

Compared to OnePlus, pixel was so much slower and one of the main reason for it is RAM.

Apps are getting heavier and more bloated all the time.

Just look at the freaking facebook apps.

The fb messenger couldn't be more bloated.

Whatsapp adding status is another.

Apps are doing more and more things and 4GB doesn't cut it anymore.

That's why many Pixel XLs and Pixel 2 XLs are slowing down while the OP3 which is 16

months older than the Pixel 2 XL, is running like day 1.

For a phone that will be, in all reality, a 2019 phone due to the late year release,

4gb won't cut it.

It feels like hardware wise Google is selling us short compared to what other manufacturers

are putting out for the same (or lower prices).

If this phone is priced at $500, People wouldn't complain at all but it's going to cost over

$850 which is why people are pissed.

I understand that software is their game...

But if they invested in hardware it could take the devices to the next level.

Leaves me scratching my head because a company like Google has the money to invest I'd think.

Seems like what people want overall from a flagship is a Samsung device from a hardware

perspective with Google software.

That being said, I always admire Pixel phone's camera but a deep Notch, no headphone jack,

Chin and only 4 Gigs of RAM for a phone pushing $900 in late 2018 is a terrible decision in

my opinion.

What do you think about this let me know in the comments and I'll see you'll tomorrow

com  Mensajes etiquetados o no etiquetados  has:userlabels (etiquetados)  has:nouserlabels (no etiquetados)  Ejemplo: has:nouserlabels   Nota: Solo se etiquetan los mensajes, no las conversaciones enteras
