Youtube daily Or Aug 5 2018

Nice view. Panorama view and then...

...off into the abyss.

My thoughts right now are, why am I doing this to myself? (Background: Were you impressed?)

True that.

You also need the Fernsehturm.

Ah I'm in the way. - Nah, no worries.

You may now take one step upwards too.

And that is also securely attached..?

We'll have a look in a moment. - Two or three times?

Three people will do a check here, exactly.

You're up soon as well. - Yep, soon.

If you want, but only if you want, then you can go have a look over there.

No. - You are securely attached.

Then please take a step forwards. Exactly, and hold on right there.

Where are you from? - Me?

I'm Dutch.

You have a bit of an accent. - I'm working on it.

No, it's good!

Yep you'll also be descending there over that edge very soon.

Shhht! Don't say that! - Truth.

Are you already excited?

You?

Yeah, a little. Enjoying the views.

Will you come over?

Give me your hand.

Put both of your hands here.

Turn your back towards us, we need some space so that we can attach everything.

So that you'll mentally have prepared for the altitude.

Have I? - I don't know.

No. - No? - Doesn't matter how long I'll stand here.

You will survive this. I can only say the following:

Do it. - I'm doing it.

Then please turn around.

Then please seat yourself directly at the edge right here.

Please make sure to hold me. - I am already holding you here from the back.

I already am holding you. - Are you sure? Yep.

You can also sit down at the side here.

Everything's fine.

And now? - Just sit yourself down.

Pop your legs over the edge a bit.

Very good.

You already placed your feet there perfectly. That is good.

Stand a little broader.

Later also walk in this position. You'll have more stability.

I have to stand up? - Yes. Stand up properly. And straight.

Push until your legs and knees are straight. Lean forwards. Look towards the horizon.

Exactly. Push your legs up straight. Press your knees more straight.

Exactly. Push your legs straight - *le me screams for help*

Keep your feet up here first.

And now press your legs until they are straight.

Further, further, further, very good. *le me sighs in fear*

Super! Straighten your body.

You now are in a perfect position and have basically already made it through.

And now, place your right hand on your hip...

Yes? - And pull and walk. Always pull with your left hand.

Exactly like that. - I am looking forwards.

You can also look down, whatever you prefer.

This is going to take a while. - You have time.

Look around, have fun.

Are you having fun? - I am having SO much fun!! o.O

Great, then you are properly prepared for a next activity. - Am I doing it correctly?

Yep, exactly like that! Great.

It looks good.

I have no idea, I am not looking down.

Smile brightly, pictures are being made.

Really? I think so, it looks like that.

@#^2, three meter..

Why am I doing this??

Am I still doing this correctly?

@&*% I am alone. No one is listening to me.

Just go down as #$@ fast as you can.

I think I am really going as a $@# snail.

I am talking to myself.

Oh crap, my leg is sleeping.

Look forwards, look forwards, look $*$*** forwards...

You're nearly there, you're nearly there, just keep gooooing.

And you wanted to climb the Mt. Huashan?

Please.

I'm nearly there. You're nearly there!

You're nearly #$$$ there.

Stay calm.

Just keep going, just keep going, just keep **** going.

Just keep going, just keep going..

Just $$$$ continue..

Don't look!!!!

You are not..

You are never going to be a mountain climber.

I cursed the entire time.

Hands on my shoulders.

You made it. Are you okay? - Yes. I am now.

I cursed so so much..

So much..

All will be fine, I made it too!!

I Never Lose Either I Win or I Learn | Saturday Slowdown - Duration: 5:06.

hey it's patti scharf CPA and co-founder of catching clouds the leader in

e-commerce accounting and today is another Saturday slowed down I like to

take Saturday's as a time to remind everyone to work on their business and

not just in their business

today I want to talk about the entrepreneurs journey so I was talking

into some peers of mine and we were all kind of comparing our businesses and

where we are and kind of what we're focused on and things like that and some

of some of the other peers you know they've got 700 clients or 250 clients

like we have less than 50 now the clients that we have are fairly big and

I was thinking back to back when I bought this tax practice I want to say

11 years ago or so and it was horrible that is another story for another time

but we had I think five times so many clients as caching clouds has now but we

had like I want to say a fifth of the revenue and like I I wasn't even making

enough to take home a salary or anything like that so you can't really tell

anything from the outside looking in about somebody else's journey and

something else I wanna share with you so I just started doing the couch to 5k

plan if you don't know what that is it's basically anybody who wants to start

running who is a non runner so you it's like a walking running pattern thing

that you do on a continuous basis well I just finished week five day three which

is 20 minutes of running straight and while I'm out there and I'm jogging

along and I'm like just about to the end of my run and I'm like high-fiving

myself or how great I'm doing like somebody comes up beside me like just

runs right past me perfect form got those shoes that are like you know

separated toes and stuff like fancy schmancy like barefoot running kind of

shoes and just flies by me like I'm just standing still and I'm like you know

this is a lot like having a business like when you have a business you're

really competing with yourself you really should not be competing with

other people or even comparing yourself to other people because everybody has

their own journey and that business that I had bought earlier the one that was

just this dismal failure I I see it as probably one of the best things that

ever happened to me even though it was a huge failure

because so many great things came out of it one of my biggest lessons was that

working harder does not necessarily end in success I was always taught when I

was growing up you can do anything you put your mind to and just you know put

in some more elbow grease and you will succeed and until that point I feel like

I succeeded in almost everything that I had ever attempted and it was really

humbling and it was really it had to it made me shift the way that I saw the

world and it made me appreciate the fact that weekends are here for a reason you

need to slow down and you need to take a break owning a business is a marathon it

is not a sprint and you have to take time to relax and think about other

things and you have to think you have to spend time working strategically on your

business if you don't you're just like throwing young you can so easily get

caught up in doing the same thing over and over and over and not actually

solving what the actual problem is and I guess the last thing I want to say I

just started taking jujitsu a couple of weeks ago and they have this sign on the

wall and it says you either win or you learn and I could not agree with that

more it's every single event of my life is a learning experience I really feel

like owning a business is a constant opportunity to learn and

to grow I don't care how long you've been in business or what different

things you've tried the landscape is always changing and there's always more

to learn there's always a new experience there's always something to be learned

from every person you meet so are there other firms out there who are killing it

more than me of course there are there's always going to be but I can't worry

about that I have to only pay attention to my deal and you know I'm I'm out

there running 20 minutes straight baby and I guess the point is I'm in the game

and everyday I'm either winning or I'm learning so I hope you liked this video

if you did please like comment and share if you haven't already please subscribe

Stock Photos - Good or Bad: Social Media Quick Tip - Duration: 1:00.

does stock photography hurt you? because it's obviously not real and people are

pretty savvy about that his little loan a stock photo doesn't connect with a

potential customer if you are using a stock photo on your website let's take

the kid with the pink enhance for dancing so if you're seeing that picture

and you're like oh man that's so cute I want to use this stock photo on my

website so you take the kid with the painting hand and you put it on your

website well somebody who'd just lend it on your

website saw the kid with a painted hand stock photo on a different website they

had a been experience with that website with the business right so now they're

associating the bed experience with your business they never even met you they

never even talked to you just through a picture it doesn't for me it doesn't

Site Diary: Iron Age Or Bronze Age? - Duration: 1:52.

Howdy! - Hey!

We're on day five here on the outskirts of the Bodmin Moor in Cornwall

where we're excavating a Bronze Age village

It's getting really exciting, we're starting to see the round houses really well

and we've found loads....

We've found some pottery

- I think I've found the rim of a pot!

We've got more pottery

- Delighted by it!

and we found some more pottery

- Wowwwwww!

Now the really interesting thing is that we've found all pottery that is Iron Age

or Romano British

Absolutely, and that's getting me really excited about the site

the reason being is the current understanding of these sites is

that everybody abandons the uplands around 1300 BC

That's because the weather gets a lot colder, it gets a lot wetter

and so it's no longer any good to live on these areas

However, because we're finding lots of Iron Age pottery

and because we've not really found anything dating to the Bronze Age yet

we have to start asking ourselves

well when was this settlement occupied?

Is it a Bronze Age settlement that was left abandoned

and in the Iron Age people thought yeah

I'll have some of that?

Or instead is it actually an Iron Age site which has been

founded in this upland landscape?

And that really changes our narratives for the whole of that period

So Iron Age, or Bronze Age? Do we have an opinion? - I don't know...

I think we need to dig a little bit more to see if we can find a few more finds

and also understand the phasing of the settlement to really answer that question

Great, well we have about another week left here on site.

Plenty of time for digging,

Plenty of time to make those educated guesses

So... let's get to it! - Woohoo!

*laughter* - Outake!

How to create open caption or subtitles in premiere pro cc - Duration: 8:42.

Hello - Techmates

Thanks for watching TecHour channel

and today I am going to show you how to create this caption or subtitle

that you have watched in the beginning of tutorial.

Coming up now...

[TecHour Music]

Let's assume that you have premiere pro software

installed in your computer and a project ready to create captions or subtitle.

I will use this short video documentary movie

that you have watched previously but without subtitle.

Anyway, the footage I have used in this tutorial are from Pixabay.com.

So, a big thanks to Pixabay and let's begin the tutorial.

Firstly select your current time indicator and drag this to the beginning of the timeline.

Now go to project panel and select new item,

select Captions from the Menu and a new captions window will pop-up here.

We need to set the captions standard.

When you click in the box, six options will appear with a drop down menu.

CEA-608 and CEA-708 are both closed caption.

608 is older standard for analogue signals and 708 is modern closed caption style.

So, what is closed captions?

Closed captions can be turned on and off by the users

as long as the decoder or media player supports it.

Then teletext and open subtitling.

Open subtitling is developed to make multimedia available to viewers

who may not speak the language used in the video.

Then Australian and at last open captions.

Open captions are different from closed captions

because they are part of the video itself and cannot be turned off.

We will select open caption and keep Timebase and video setting as it is for this tutorial.

When you press ok, you will see an open caption item will be appeared in project panel.

Drag this on top of the video in the timeline

and stretch the open caption till the end of the sequence.

You will see type caption text here in program monitor.

Now double click on the open caption from timeline,

a captions editing panel will be opened in your project panel.

If you do not see the captions panel in your project panel,

then go to Window and select captions from the drop down menu.

Now this is the time to add captions for your sequence.

I have already created a word document to add text here.

I will simply copy the first sentence of the voice over and paste it here.

You will see the text has been changed in the program monitor and it has black background.

To change the black background from the text, just come to project panel,

select the background color, you can change the background color from here

and press OK to change the color.

If you want make half way transparent background,

you need to select opacity and decrease up to 60%.

If you do not want any background color, decrease the opacity to 0%.

It will make this background fully transparent.

You can change your captions font from here.

As you see the font looks small in my program monitor,

I will change the font size from here.

I will make it 60 standard size.

You can change the font color by clicking on this and change the color you want.

You can also change the font weight, regular, italic, narrow or bold, if you like.

If your footage compiled with different background,

you can add font edge to make captions stand out from the background.

Just select edge color,

change the color into black

and set the font edge 7 as standard edge.

You will see the captions looks gorgeous and professional

after adding font edge and color to it.

You can align your captions from here, align right, align center and align left.

You can make your captions bold, italic, underline or add music note, if you want.

If you wish, you can change the open position caption

block to middle, left, and right or anywhere in the frame by clicking here.

Also changing the X and Y direction, you can position your caption where you want.

To reposition the first caption, you can drag this open caption at the right place

or you can set the In point by dragging the current time indicator,

copy the in-time code from the program panel

and paste it in open caption panel.

Like this you can set out time point,

copy the out-time code,

and paste it in caption panel.

I will drag this caption to position it for the first sentence,

now this is the time to add the second line of the voice over.

Just come to the project panel, click on this + icon to add caption,

you will see a new section has been added.

We will add 9 more sentences on the voice over

and re-position it to create the perfect subtitle for this video.

Once you set how you want to see your captions,

it will work for the rest caption as default for this project.

I will fast forward this portion….

Now our project is ready with subtitle.

That's all for this tutorial today.

I will show you how to export video with subtitle or caption

that we have created today in my next video.

"You-know-whom" "You-know-who"

Look honestly no one cares

No one cares

This is why no one wants to go on adventures with us

This!

You!

When is it who? and when is it whom?

Okay before we specifically look at who

and whom you need to know one very important thing

look at this sentence

in this sentence

this is called the "subject"

the "subject" does the action

in this case "love"

"her" that's the "object"

the object of a sentence receives the action

so she receives the love

"subject" does the action "object" receives the action

super easy right hmm yeah

and you'll notice whether it's a subject pronoun or an object pronoun

it has a different form for example

let's reverse this

so the feminine "she" is a subject pronoun

and the feminine "her" is the object pronoun

and the masculine "he" that's a subject and the masculine "him" is the object pronoun

who and whom work the same way

who and whom they're both pronouns

"Who" is a subject pronoun

"Whom" is an object pronoun. We need an example

so this question is it "who loves me?" or "whom loves me?" what do you think?

you see it's actually super easy

we want to know who does the action

so we need "who" not "whom"

we can test this by looking at the answer: "She loves me"

if the answer is a subject pronoun then you need "who" because "who" is the subject pronoun!

"whom" is the object pronoun, but how do we use it?

okay this question: "Who do you love?" or should it be "Whom do you love?"

Well we know that he is doing the action

so he's the subject, right?

we want to know who receives this action

so actually...

That should be "whom" "Whom do you love?"

That's how we use it, it's that simple

So why is it so confusing?

it's because you would never hear this question in real life. That's why!

and the reason is that "whom" is becoming old-fashioned,

we don't use it really use it anymore

It's much more common to hear "Who do you love?" not "Whom"

Basically basically, "who" is replacing "whom" in all situations

In formal writing, yes when it's appropriate, when you need the object pronoun, sure use "whom"!

but in all cases "who" is slowly replacing "whom"

another example

"who did you invite?" we want to know "who received the invitation?"

so actually that again is the object pronoun

but again you're not going to hear "whom did you invite to the party?"

in regular speech. No!

"Who did you invite?" that's much more common. That's what you'll hear

and I recommend that that is what you say

of course there are annoying people who will always correct "who" to "whom"

in conversation it sounds annoying and it's rude. Let "whom" die

with one exception...

two exceptions

I mentioned formal writing

yes that's fine! The other one is this situation...

"Who are you talking to?" we already know that this one that's an object pronoun

so in theory should be "Whom are you talking to?"

But that doesn't sound good!

oh I know it's because you never end a sentence with a preposition let's change that!

"To WHOM are you talking?" that...

Why? it sounds very old-fashioned and very formal

if someone said that in conversation

"To whom am I talking?" what century do you live in?

oh I'm sorry, in which century do you live?"

So this might be grammatically correct but it's still just...

however honestly after a preposition

that's when you're most likely to hear a "whom"

and when it's more acceptable for you to say "whom"

because it just it flows better

okay but what about in a sentence where who or whom works as a relative pronoun?

What the hell is a relative pronoun?!

Don't worry! I'll explain!

okay if I steal money from my friend

we've known each other for 10 years

my friend very shocked we'll say two things

Aly is the guy who stole my money or

Aly, who I've known for ages, stole my money

one of these is whom

and one of these is who, but which one?

Aly is the guy who stole my money

this... it's all the subject. He stole my money

so because it's still the subject it's still who

this one however we're adding more information in this relative clause here

who I've known for ages

would we say "I've known he" or "I've known him"?

Do we need the subject or object pronoun?

of course we need the object pronoun so it would be I've known him for ages

this should be

"Aly, whom I've known for ages, stole my money"

of course I would never do that

I would only steal your heart

I'm not proud of that one

okay if you still really want to use whom and remember in formal writing

I would recommend you do still use it at the moment it's still good

here's a test to see if you've learned it properly

A guy comes home to his girlfriend with a kiss mark on his face

Should it be "Who kissed you?" or "Whom kissed you?"

What do you think?

How does the sentence make sense?

should we say "she kissed you" or "her kissed you"?

well "her" that's an object pronoun and that doesn't sound good

"She kissed you", that makes sense

"she" is the subject pronoun

so we need the subject "who"

"Who kissed you?"

"who/whom did you buy this pizza for?"

What would he answer?

I love you I bought it for you!

"for you!" We wanted to know THIS information

and this is an object pronoun

that's what we wanted to know

so the question is "whom" not "who"

and yes of course we can say "for whom did you buy this pizza?" that's okay too

so this is where it can get confusing in a passive sentence

"who was invited?" or should it be "whom was invited?"

Again it's actually very easy, think about the answer

"They were invited" "They" is a subject pronoun so "who was invited?"

remember if you're not sure think about the answer is that a subject or an object?

then you'll know if you need "who" or "whom"

so in conclusion who and whom both pronouns

"who" is the subject pronoun "whom" is the object pronoun

"whom" is dying out and "who" is replacing "whom" in most situations

personally I don't really use "whom"

only in formal writing when I'm trying to be formal

or after a preposition in a sentence in spoken English

if I'm trying to sound formal or more intelligent

but honestly it's a dying word

Don't worry about it and certainly don't correct someone who used "who"

When grammatically they should have used whom it's annoying don't be that person

So try making your own sentences using who and whom in the comments

I'll give the best comments a heart and as always

How the Music of My Hero Academia Guts (Or Enhances) the Essence of a Scene - Duration: 6:43.

Hello & Welcome - To Replay Value

My Hero Academia is well regarded for its action music - You Say Run and all of its

variants, Trinity, United States of Smash!

- Yuki Hayashi has done a fantastic job of composing memorable music that perfectly matches

the tone of My Hero's action scenes.

But there isn't a lot of conversation in regard to how the score is used in the context

of the show.

We can all agree that music and sound help to build a scene - a piano solo written in

minor played over some rain is going to feel sad, just as much as the contrast between

what we see and what we hear can create an unnerving sensation.

The really powerful moments and their songs are the ones that people think of and remember,

but a show's score is pervasive.

Meaning gets attached to songs based on the scenes they were featured in, the leitmotifs

being utilized to convey subtle connections and remixed to accompany changes, hell silence

can take on new meaning depending on where and when it's used.

So today I want to talk about how a scene has its meaning totally changed by the song

that was used, and counter that with an example of how the soundtrack was perfectly used to

heighten its tension.

We're talking about the two most recent episodes from the 3rd season, 15 & 16 - the

Ochako float, and the fight with Cammie.

So I'll just say right off the bat that I read the manga for My Hero and thus went

into this scene with certain expectations.

The first scene in question is before the UA students leave for the provisional license

exam.

And I would say that for the most part - especially the specific time in question of the girls

chatting, the sound is a good match - it's got the fluffy sound effects that one would

expect to come with a flustered character, and the light hearted I will become a hero

track that's playing right now in the background.

Ochako being asked about who she has a crush on causing her to float as Mina Toru & Jiro

press her for info is a fun scene that also keys us into the fact that Ochako's gotten

much better at being under the effect of zero gravity.

And the transition to a brief moment of silence is great - but what follows afterwards

is where my problem with the scene comes to the forefront.

The song that plays at this moment is "Symbol of Peace" which has, from its first introduction

way back in Episode 3 of the first season - been connotated with All Might.

Because of this track, the focus becomes Deku and his new fighting style bringing him closer

to ascending to All Might's position as the Symbol of Peace.

It's not about Ochako's growing feelings for him, nor their relationship as Deku being

someone who she admires.

It's in the context of Ochako's rose colored lens sure, but that's not the information

that's being conveyed here - at least not in the audio.

I don't think that's a bad thing, I personally disagree with the decision - mostly because

of how much his role as the successor is beaten over our heads, but that's the meaning they

wanted to get across.

But just imagine if the scene had stayed silent, a moment of quiet reflection for Ochako, or

maybe like this...

That's how I originally read the scene - much more focused on Ochako and her feelings as

were signposted earlier in the episode and in the previous one.

Admittedly I think the visuals in the manga also lend themselves to that interpretation

since they're eye lines are matched up and Deku's muttering is a small panel compared

to the 12 seconds it receives to get adapted.

This scene is a great example of how music can change an interpretation - it allows the

scene in the anime to take on a new meaning while still capturing the original which is

great, even if the original meaning is downplayed immensely because of the direction the show

chose to go with...which isn't so great in my opinion.

But I don't want you to think I'm some kind of silence purist when it comes to adaptation,

or stuck in my own headspace of how the score should be used in every scene.

The fight with Camie is a great example of how My Hero's anime adaptation really adds

something through music.

As Deku is thinking to himself how exciting this exam is, a piercing note plays until

it's silenced by Camie's acrobatic attack.

It's a great transition and introduces the character as an immediate threat - even beyond

her taking out one of his targets.

The music that follows is super unsettling -

which obviously couldn't be done in the manga.

And all of the interactions with Camie in the arena are similarly creepy, and the music

amplifies that with deep cello and the occasional digital distortion.

In the manga she doesn't come off as creepy until she's got him pinned,

but here she's constantly that throughout.

A song like, the threat of offense and defense could have been used here to convey the battle

- but instead the music is here to reinforce how Camie is affecting Deku psychologically,

her presence literally makes the music uncomfortable to listen to.

But that's nothing compared to the perfection of Camie disguised as Ochako.

It starts off with this nice piano melody which makes you think that this going to be a heartfelt moment…

ugh it's so perfect.

We had transitioned to more of a standard combat song when the other students attacked,

so this moment isn't super weird tonally.

But when the creepy tune comes in it instantly throws us back to what we'd left behind

only minutes before.

Just imagine if the previous scene I discussed had used the light piano song and then brought

it back here to undercut it!

That would have been a really powerful moment, where the audio betrayed the audience as much

as this visual would seem to.

This feeling of the unknown and threat, discomfort and creepiness is carried here mostly by the

music - the visual direction here definitely doesn't hurt but with another song, this

interaction wouldn't convey those feelings properly and that's something to be applauded

here.

Again I want to stress that I don't think My Hero Academia has a fundamental failing

in how it chooses to utilize Yuki Hayashi's score - on the whole it does a great job,

and even when I think a different track might be better, I can understand the rationale

behind that decision.

When working with an audio visual medium, it can sometimes be easy to forget how the

audio creates, subverts, or compounds meaning - and being aware of the sound design as a

whole, but especially the score, allows us to understand the work more fully than if

we simply focus on the visuals.

And of course, seeing an adaptation that understands what can be added through a channel that does

not exist in the original is always a pleasure.

How To Grow A Kiwi Tree or Vine From Seed - 27 Months! - Duration: 11:24.

hey everyone its Rob the backyard gardenerr and it's time for a Kiwi vine

grown from seed update that's right everyone the Kiwi vines are now

twenty-seven months old today August third and it's been a hundred degrees

every day for like the last month here in Texas so I've really neglected

providing you an update and getting these guys some are pruned now in the

first two to three years of growing your Kiwi vines your biggest thing is to kind

of let them find out you're trying to train up one vertical leader straight up

and then have it branch off kind like a grapevine and I've let I've let these

Kiwi vines go guys I've let them go and I've done that on purpose now that

it's starting to get to the 90s now and over the next several weeks it'll dip

even into the 80s and will start cooling down I think it's a good time to get

them summer pruned so they have a little time to recover put on some more growth

but at the end of the day I do want to chart training some central leaders let

me flip the camera around show you where the trunks are and show you what kind of

mess we got going on as you can see we've got kind of a mess especially on

this one so this is probably going to be right here

my main leader so I will need to get a stake and straighten him out but I'm

gonna heavily chop them once the season ends I'm probably gonna chop them where

his biggest turning point is which is right here so then I'm going to take

this part of him straighten it up and let him grow from that now I'm not gonna

do that dramatic today because if I were to do that he'd have no foliage you've

also got secondary leaders coming off it and I don't mind that either I may take

these and pull them to the side and try to have a couple different leaders on

this to see which one grows the best we also have one down here laying down and

a new shoot coming off that one this one right here you can see how thin he is

because he's being shaded by some of the bigger leaves of the other plants I've

been working on getting this one situated and the other ones back there

so again in this video I'm just gonna go ahead and reduce some of this overhead

foliage but we will be getting all four plants

once this once it hits winner and it drops all its foliage we will get it

down and reduced to just one leader that way next year when it reads it's kind of

like a tree trunk and then it will start setting its lateral vines as well but

you can see how much these guys have grown they're twisting around each other

and this is what I don't want them to strangle each other and the one thing

about Kiwi vines is when they're loose and hunting for something to grab

they're very malleable if you will, you can bend them in any direction but once they grab

something it sends some kind of reaction to the trunk and it becomes rigid and

stiff and that's what's going on with a lot of these I've got kind of a tangled

mess up here but all of this upper canopy will be removed come winter look

how much foliage they put on part of me wants to kind of leave it a little crazy

just so it grows all around here like I've talked about in previous videos and

just let it do its thing and see what kind of flowers it produces and just

maybe weeding down some of these extra vines like I don't need two vines here I

could also just trim one of the vines here and let one run its course but I

think today for the video is I'm gonna show you the plants we've got four here

and then on the other side of the yard we've got a few more plants but first

and foremost I think it's time to do some trimming because this guy is going

bonkers despite the heat the heat is frying some of these lower Leafs that

are sitting in direct sunlight all day but the ones here that are kind of

shading each other look a lot better anyway let me do a little bit of

cleaning up and some maintenance on this guy scope them a little bit better and

I'll show what he looks like we even have him running out this direction as well

let me go ahead and give him sculpt it a little bit I'll show you what I've taken

off and we'll give you a better look at inside of him as well it's quite the

pile guys we took a whole bunch off and I know it's gonna look pretty dramatic

and crazy like I chopped the heck out of him at least now you can see the trucks

so I've taken this first plant and chopped it all the way to here I

want this trunk to focus on a single leader I've taken that small one down

there I left that little tiny end just because I don't know how well this one's

gonna do but I have him growing up the big one is already intertwined and up

here and I don't want to do too much more pruning I just chopped away a lot

of the excess vines that were shading a lot of the lower leaves and I'm gonna

let this continue to grow throughout the summer and the fall and like I said once

it loses all of its leaves for winter then I'll really do the heavy pruning

and get these leaders established you can clearly see on this tree down here

we actually have a few branching out hard to determine which one's healthier

I believe this thicker one is the healthiest one and I'll probably prune

it right here at the end of the season eliminating a lot of this top foliage

we've got this one right here that I've allowed to vine around and I've cut them

off here really heavy I know he'll set new buds across it the root system and

year strong and then he sent a side sheet off that's wrapping around this

and I might leave it I kind of like it I'm debating maybe I'll let him why like

this so they have one that goes up into the canopy up here and the other leader

I'll go straight up as an experiment but yeah we've chopped the heck out of it

now I'm gonna break up all of these leaves and make a mulch base down here

so that the ground doesn't get baked during the hot days they're still ahead

for the next 30 days I also had this last plant right here and he was growing

up into my apple tree so I had to top him for now again when I set these here

a few years ago I wasn't planning on what to do with them I just wanted to

get him outside of my garden I didn't have a lot of space I still don't so

this is the best we've got more likely than not I am going to take a couple of

these that are encroaching on the apple tree and I'm gonna replant them

somewhere else in the yard I have to just figure it out we're probably where

the grapevine is over here that's been going crazy and it's only produced two

of grapes this year I know it's only it's on its third year but it's just not

producing I may trim the heck out of it and maybe put some Kiwis over whoo these

peppers are along this and let them continue to grow on this side now we do

have another Kiwi vine over here as well and she's going bonkers as well I had

been trained this guy he is see if I can get in here he is more like a tree trunk

he's got some side shoots I've got a trim away but I was training this guy to

be a single leader and he's branched out too much probably so much that I really

can't do a lot of pruning on him right now

I'll clean up the top but I'll have to wait till the grapevine dies back and he

dies back as far as the for the winter and then I can set his reset his leader

but on this is the one that I've got set up the right way but right now you

couldn't tell because there's just grapevine all on the way

now we'll go on the greenhouse and it's been tough in here guys with this summer

heat but we've also got a Kiwi vine in here and I've chopped him really well

he's also being trained as a single leader as you can see he's also grown

into this netting so today I am going to be chopping him one more time as well

probably right at this wire right here I'll just take a couple of nodes off and

then we'll string them up to the roof with some string probably gotta get some

new string but we'll get him growing vertically again not laterally let me

get that done and I'll be right back all right we've got him trimmed up growing

up along this trellis and up to the top so he's back to a single leader and

again guys I know it's not the most greenest looking of gardens right now

I'm telling you this Texas heat no matter how much you water this ground just gets

dry and dry and dry but this is a Kiwi experiment this is the one from the

greenhouse he's still thriving at the end of the day his growth looks good

he's still healthy he'll really take off once I get the tomatoes out of here and

he isn't he's not competing with the Sun and the lack of rain and even though I'm

giving lots of water at the end of the day it's just 105 degrees and he's doing

his best but again I slipped this one in here just to see what he would do with

hide some free space went ahead and chopped the craziness out of this one

he's back to being a single leader up here now so we'll work on his shape

again at the end of the year I'll probably chop him right here and we'll

let him do his thing look at the leaves how brown they were because they weren't

getting any sunlight these were all shaded by all that Kiwi vine itself so

anyway I know it doesn't look the best as far as the color and the way that

I've sculpted them but we're still working on the first three years but

we're trying to get these guys to be single leaders I'm learning as I go

If I had known from day one what to do with these guys I probably would

be a little more strategic however again like I said in the first

two to three years you can let them go a little crazy cuz you're gonna cut them

back every year like grape vines you're gonna literally cut them back until you

have an established trunk and then once you set your lateral vines that's when

you just trim them back like grape vines to their lateral vines so we're not too

worried about it right now yeah they look a little ugly from the Texas heat

and lack of pruning and me not paying attention to them but I'm pretty certain

here by the next couple of months when I give you the next update they'll look a

lot better well there you have it everyone that's my Kiwi girl from seed

series update a month twenty seven I know they're not looking the best

there's not much you can do and I wanted to let them just grow as much as they

possibly can mainly because their foliage would help shade some of them to

help prevent them from dying or drying out we've done the best we can with what

we can and what we used to know and what we now know I've got them pruned now I'm

hoping that they'll put on a little bit of extra growth we're gonna start having

a drop in temperatures should start seeing some better results over the next

couple of months then I'm gonna win or prune them probably late December early

January and get them ready for the spring I'm

really optimistic that next year I'll be able to have established leaders and

some lateral vines growing off them maybe if we're lucky in a couple years

we'll get some flowers or fruit fingers crossed

at the end of the day I appreciate those sticking with me we're learning as we

grow and as always thanks for watching and happy gardening

How To Grow Sunchokes or Jerusalem Artichokes In Containers or Pots Plus Recipe - Duration: 11:17.

a plant that is easy to grow and produces abundant harvests its tubers

have a delicious nutty flavor let's look at growing sunchokes or Jerusalem

artichokes now we started our sunchokes plant from tubers that were bought at

a grocery store we just planted it in this small container that you see here

and within just a few days you could see the plants emerging from the tubers and

we are now going to be transplanting it into this wine barrel or a whiskey

barrel container you do need a lot of space for the plant to grow so I

recommend that you use a large container and growing in containers is easier than

growing this in the ground now water well and make sure that your sunchokes

plant always receives water as needed the soil mix that we're using is a mix

of some existing potting mix and I did add some sand to the potting mix because

tubers like sunchokes love having some sand in the soil

now 26 days since planting you can see that the plant grows very vigorously and

this plant although it's called Jerusalem artichokes is not related to

the city of Jerusalem nor is it related to the plant family of artichokes this

is actually related to the sunflower family plant this plant produces flowers

yellow flowers that look like sunflowers or even yellow daisies

and as you can see the plant is a vigorous grower

and what I like about this plant is that it is so easy to grow this plant just

get some tubers from the grocery store plant it and you're good to go

now as far as fertilizers go I added some fish emulsion and seaweed

fertilizer to this plant about two or three times while it was growing it

doesn't need a lot of fertilizer I just made sure that I used a good mix of

compost and sand for the potting mix with some perlite for added drainage and

you can see that the plant has become so tall now and this plant grows to over

ten feet and you can see here the plant is a vigorous grower again these stems

are pretty thick the leaves are growing well and we did not get any flowers on

our sunchoke plant but you can see yellow flowers for growing sunchokes you

will get some beautiful yellow flowers as well so this plant is also a very

good-looking plant and the growing season for the sunchokes plant is quite

long and it gets very tall so what I was trying to do is minimize the size of the

plant so that it grows more like a bush rather than just keep growing tall so

I'm gonna be pruning some stems here as you can see by pruning the stems I'm

limiting the size of this plant so that it's more manageable and make sure that

on hot sunny days your sunchokes plant is well watered the tubers need a lot of

water to form and you need to make sure that they don't get dried out now make

sure that you are growing your sunchokes plant in a

location that receives about six to eight hours of Sun every day this plant

loves sunlight and thrives in sunny and warm conditions you can see some damage

on the leaves probably done by some insects and I did not really bother

spraying this plant at all simply because the damage wasn't that

significant and 150 days since planting you can see that some of the tubers are

actually visible on the top part of the plant and this is usually a sign that

the plant is ready for harvest but what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna let this plant

grow for some more time and add some potting mix on top of the tubers so that

they are not exposed to the Sun and this lets me grow the plant for a few more

days at least a week or two before I can harvest the tubers and at 162 days since

planting they are now ready for harvest we're gonna be just pulling out our

plant and remember that the tubers are formed around the plant and it's best to

keep your pot on a tarp so that you don't waste any potting mix and you can

see here these tubers lovely looking tubers the sunchokes

or Jerusalem artichokes they're just very prolific growers and I was really

surprised to see how many tubers they produce the tubers look exactly like

ginger a little bit on the plump side though

little bit thicker and the best thing about the sunchokes

plant is that the carbohydrate that the tuber store is in the form of inulin

and not starch which means that it's very beneficial for people that have

diabetes the carbohydrate doesn't break down as quickly as starch and the

sunchokes is very similar tasting to a potato but it has a nuttier flavor it

actually has a very unique flavor when I first tried sunchokes I felt that this

was something like a cross between a potato and a taro root and it also comes

very close to the taste of a taro root but still has this distinctive flavor

that's not found in taro root so very unique vegetable to try growing and

eating

you can see here we are harvesting a lot of tubers from just this small sunchokes

plant and I was really surprised to see how many tubers this plant could produce

for the space that it was growing in I wasn't really expecting so many tubers

and here you can see the harvest beautiful looking tubers now they say

that if you wait too long you wanna have too many hairs on the roots of the plant

but as you can see here this was the perfect time to harvest the tubers

they're nice and big tubers and they're quite a lot of tubers and I usually do

not measure or weigh my harvest but in this case I'm gonna do that you can see

that we have almost four and a half pounds of sunchokes harvested from a

single plant and that's quite an abundant harvest now we're going to be

washing our Sun chokes very well it's a little tricky to clean them because the

dirt actually goes around the tubers

and by rinsing them like what you see here you'll be able to clean them up

very well and once the tubers are clean this is how they look like

and as you can see here they look very much like a ginger root extremely

similar and here you can see again that's a bountiful harvest now let's

look at a sunchoke soup recipe these are the sunchokes that we harvested as you

can see here and what we're gonna do is we are gonna cut these sunchokes into

smaller pieces and you can see here they look beautiful from the inside they're

white and fleshy sunchokes we're gonna be cutting all these sunchokes into

these small pieces

as you can see here they look beautiful all the tubers are looking wonderful and

our next step now is to cook them we are gonna be putting this in a pressure

cooker you do not have to pressure cook it you can even cook it in an open pan

and make sure that they are well cooked

when the pressure-cooked sunchokes this is how they look like the idea of

cooking them earlier is to make sure that they do not have any skin on them

the skin can be removed now some people prefer to eat the skin so it's up to you

if you like eating it with the skin you can go ahead and eat it with the skin

for our recipe here we're going to be putting this and some cold water so that

we can remove the skin of these sunchokes

and here you can see that we are peeling the sunchokes and it was a little

overcooked in my opinion so I think instead of pressure cooking these

sunchokes it might be a better idea to just cook them in an open pan and you

can still puree them into the soup that you wanna see here and we are removing

the skin here if you want a nuttier flavor and if you like eating the skin

just leave the skin on and your soup will still taste very good

and here you can see we have peeled our sunchokes now and now what we are gonna

do is take some oil and add some cumin seeds as you can see here let the cumin

seeds sputter a little bit and then add some freshly cut onions these are onions

from our garden we harvested onions last month

cook the onions till they become translucent so it takes about a couple

of minutes and now let's add the tomatoes and mix it in all we are doing

a shallow frying the tomatoes and the onions and after a few minutes you can

see that the onions and tomatoes are cooked and what we're gonna be doing now

is taking two cups of water in our blender as you can see here we've

measured two cups already and we're gonna be adding these onions and

tomatoes that we just stir-fried and to this we are going to be adding

our Sun chokes the Sun chokes that we peeled and kept ready

blending it for some time the sunchokes get blended very quickly but we also

have added the onions and tomatoes so we're gonna be blending this for just a

few seconds and as you can see here our sunchoke soup is ready this is a very

delicious soup I was pleasantly surprised at the taste of sunchokes

it adds a really nice nutty flavor to all the dishes that you use it for and

this sunchoke soup is absolutely delicious so there we have it folks I

NBA STAR Abducted By ALIENS - FACT or FICTION? - Duration: 15:16.

Love and loss.

Otherworldy encounters.

A miraculous streak of bad luck.

The stories we have for you tonight may sound too fantastical to be true, but not everything

is as you think it will be.

Was a man visited by beings from another world?

Did a terrible morning save another from tragedy?

Did a journey through a cave lead to the end of a potential lifetime of love?

It's time for you to decide, what's fact.. and fiction.

The line that divides the factual from the unreal has long since blurred, the tales we

once thought fantastical now implanted as truth.

To decipher verity from the imagined, you must break from the ordinary and consider

a universe where the outlandish prevails.

Can you expand your mind to see beyond our perceived reality?

Can you decide what's fact or fiction?

First, we have a tale of adventure and tragedy, that of Emma Trent.

Seeking excitement on their Thailand excursion, Emma's fiance, John Welsh, had the perfect

thing planned for them.

Emma had never been underground, and she never expected her first journey to be her last.

Story # 1: The Incident at Phraya Nakhon Cave He had promised her the adventure of a lifetime

and Joe wasn't one to exaggerate.

Their trip to Thailand had been a nonstop series of thrills and adventure and Emma was

ready to take on another experience.

Their target was the Phraya Nakhon Cave, a location she had heard of during her time

in the country, but was told it was near impossible to find.

Of course, Joe found a way, and so the two of them and their fellow travelers - Don,

Maggie, their two sons, 10-year-old Albert, and the two guides Joe secured - set off.

Getting to the cave was as difficult as Emma was told, but the beauty of it was well worth

the effort and wait.

The walls shimmered beneath the beam of their flashlights, the specks of gold a natural

marvel she knew could never be matched.

As they explored the cave, following their guides to find the temple hidden deep within

the Earth, Emma couldn't believe that she was there.

Her joy, however, was shortlived.

About halfway through the cave, a steady roar echoed and overpowered the pleasant conversation

and directions of the guides.

Before any of them could make sense of what they were hearing, Emma saw the wall of water

rushing towards them.

Joe was quick to grab his fiance and find the closest place to climb, but they were

the only ones to escape the deadly wave.

Emma glanced back in time to see the guides and Albert swept away.

The family tried to follow Joe and Emma, but acted too late.

Emma climbed ahead of Joe, struggling against the slickness of the cave wall.

Her fingers struggled to grab a crevice, causing her to lose her footing and slip past Joe.

Luckily, he had always been quick with his reflexes and was able to grab her before she

hit the water.

The two kept climbing, eventually finding a ledge they could fit on and get their bearings.

Fearing they would never make it out of the cave, Joe told Emma he'd go to find help.

Despite her insistence that he stay, Joe thought he could ride the current to an exit.

With a kiss, he dropped into the water, leaving Emma to wait.

And so she waited, listening to the water rush beneath her.

She would never have guessed that, when another group happened upon her after the water had

subsided, she had been stuck on the ledge for eight hours.

Free from her underground prison, Emma tried to get word of Joe's survival.

When she was brought to a morgue, she got her answer.

Joe was laid out in a box next to one of the children.

Emma was the only survivor of their excursion into Phraya Nakhon Cave.

A joyous trip into the belly of the Earth gone awry.

It's not entirely unbelievable, but does it make sense that Joe opted to leave Emma behind

to get help?

With the water having taken most of their group already, would he really have thought

the current would lead him to safety?

And if so, why didn't he take Emma with him?

We'll reveal whether this story was true or not in a bit, but for now, vote by using the

onscreen poll and in the comment section, and get ready for another tale.

Alien encounter stories are nothing new, but are usually unbelievable in nature.

Take this story of Bryan Davison.

As they all seem to start, Davison was driving alone one night on an empty road - this time

on I-15 heading to Los Angeles, when his world, quite literally, was turned upside down...

Story # 2: The Unexpected PIt Stop Bryan wasn't used to I-15 being this empty,

but considering the time of night, it didn't surprise him.

He cut through the pitch black highway, his headlights offering the only source of light

for miles.

Leaving the bright city lights of Sin City behind him, Bryan was anxious to get back

home, but he still had more than half of his 4-hour drive ahead of him.

He kept at a leisurely pace, the dark of the road keeping him on edge and closely watching

for the desert critters.

He had let a series of cars pass by, their high beams illuminating the area around him,

but once they vanished over the hill ahead, he was again left by himself.

When a ball of light seemed to dance across the sky over the highway that stretched out

in front of him, Bryan figured it was just a trick of his imagination.

Even with the radio humming gently, it was still a quiet and lonely ride.

As he came over the hill, the light zipped by him again, this time much closer to his

car.

He knew he saw it this time, and while he struggled to determine what he had witnessed,

the unthinkable happened.

Bryan suddenly felt the need for sleep falling upon his eyes, so he rubbed at them and blinked

to relieve some of the strain.

In the brief instant that he was in darkness, he had been pulled from his car and brought

to somewhere unnatural.

He didn't remember how or when it happened, but when his vision cleared, he was no longer

driving on I-15.

Instead, he was looking at the interior of a metallic structure.

What looked like steel, surrounded him entirely, and as he tried to crane his neck to see every

facet of the unusual place, he found himself restrained to a table and his hands tied tight

together.

He had been so distracted by the change in his surroundings that he hadn't noticed the

other beings in the room with him.

They were terrifying, their look hauntingly ugly.

Most importantly, though, they weren't human.

Bryan wanted to panic, but he felt a rush come over him as the beings prodded at him,

their inhuman hands inspecting every inch of his body.

They didn't speak, at least not that he could hear, and only seemed to want to satiate a

curiosity about the man they had snatched.

Bryan could only watch as their hands poked at his body, but he felt a slight agitation

when one of the beings poked at his nose hard.

He wanted to bark out at them, try and scare them away, but nothing came to him.

Then, just as quickly as the incident hit him, Bryan found himself once again surrounded

by the familiarity of his car.

Finally able to speak and move, he let out a confused and excited scream.

Pulling over to the side of the road, he checked his body for markings and ran through the

past five minutes, trying to put the pieces together.

Just when he was ready to assume he simply fell asleep at the wheel and imagined the

white light and the strange creatures, he saw the light again, this time bouncing away

from him before vanishing deep into the pitch black of the desert.

It sounds a little too fantastical to be true, but could Davison's story have an ounce of

truth to it?

Surely, the empty road, the pitch blackness, and the sleepy drive would be enough to cause

Davison to hallucinate the flash of light in the sky, but did he fall asleep while driving

and dream his encounter?

Find out later during the reveal, but for now, let's continue on with the story of Donald

Temple.

All he wanted was his first day at work to go smoothly.

He never expected everything to go wrong that morning, but as he would later find, his misfortune

wound up being his greatest stroke of luck.

Story # 3: A Stroke of Luck It wasn't technically his first day on the

job, but it was Donald's first day back after losing a big client for the law firm of Hunter

and Gally.

Surprised that he hadn't been immediately canned, he didn't want to ruffle any feathers,

so he planned out the perfect morning to ensure he wouldn't get stuck in the city traffic

and arrive late at the office.

Unfortunately, or so he thought at the time, the morning wouldn't be so kind to him.

In the twilight hours, as he slept soundly, power to his home was lost, ensuring that

any alarm he had set wouldn't wake him.

If that had just been it, the 30-minute delay may not have completely ruined his morning.

The spilled coffee, the burnt eggs, the missing keys, and the lack of clean laundry, however,

exacerbated the initial delay.

By the time he actually left his home, Donald was already an hour late.

That also meant he would be stuck behind the morning school bus procession, tacking on

another 30 minutes to his tardy.

Besides the few stoplights he couldn't get through, the rest of Donald's drive was surprisingly

clear until he reached the daily problem area: the Brooklyn Bridge.

As he made the slow crawl along the bridge, he could see his office towering in the distance.

He felt as if the eyes of his boss were staring at him from the upper floor, silently chiding

him for his tardy.

With nothing but breaklights ahead of him, Donald kept his eyes locked on his destination,

playing through the inevitable conversation about his commitment to the firm.

Just as he got to replaying his staple apology, he spotted something approaching the building.

Seconds later, it erupted into a fireball and a thick cloud of black.

Donald sat dumbfounded, staring in confusion at the stream of smoke that filled the city

skyline.

As the traffic remained unmoving - and he figured would remain as such - he never let

his eyes fall off the smoking tower.

He only broke contact to watch as a second object, a plane, slammed into the side of

the second tower.

He didn't think of it that morning, as he watched the Twin Towers collapse, but many

people tell him how lucky he was to have had a stroke of bad luck that morning.

As we near the end, consider this final tale where a man's misfortune wound up being the

best thing he could ask for.

Was Donald so lucky that his bad luck saved his life?

Let us know what you think in the poll and comment section below.

Now, let's get to what we've all been waiting for.. the reveal.

Are you ready to find out if you can decipher between fact or fiction?

Let's look back at tonight's three stories and find out which were born from reality

and which were fabrications of the imagination.

We opened this episode with the tragic story of Emma Trent and her trek into Phraya Nakhon

Cave.

Do you think her experience in Thailand ended in tragedy and with the death of her fiance?

If not, let me introduce you to Helena Carroll, survivor of a very similar incident that unfolded

in the Nam Talu cave in Khao Sok national park.

Helena's fiance, John Cullen, took her on an expedition to the cave with a Swiss couple,

their two daughters, a 10-year-old German boy, and two local guides.

Helena was the only one to survive when the monsoon rains flooded the cave.

How about our second story, that of Bryan Davison?

A strange encounter on the lonely road to Vegas.

It may sound like an impossible scenario, one best suited for a science fiction novel

or an episode of The Orville, but this is an encounter that a real person claims to

have had.

You actually may recognize him: NBA player Baron Davis.

During a 2003 broadcast of The Champs podcast, Davis told this exact story.

While we can't attest to what he really saw, all we can say is that he thoroughly believes

his claims.

Finally, let's have a look back at Donald Temple, an anxious man who just wanted to

perform well after a major mixup at his office.

Was his string of bad luck responsible for his missing the attack on the Twin Towers?

While there have been stories of people that, by chance, just never made it to work or on

the planes that day, Donald was not one of them.

How well did you do in tonight's video?

Did you look past the deception of our world and define the oft-blurred line that struggles

to separate lies from the truth?

Let us all know in the comment section below and should you find the urge to test your

perceptions again, be sure to subscribe and join us next time when we ask you to decide

what's fact... or fiction.
