Its main job is to filter the blood that comes from the digestive tract before it is passed

Every minute, it receives about 30% of the blood that circulates through your body, making
it the hardest working organ.
There is always a risk that there are toxins in your liver.
Having a healthy diet will help your liver.
Despite the liver being able to break down most chemicals in the bloodstream, it can
be damaged because of them.
Constant exposure to harmful chemicals can put your liver in harm's way.
Because your liver's sole job is to convert toxins into healthy waste, it's important
to realize when those toxins are not converted.
This is why it is extremely important to look out for specific warning signs that your liver
may be in danger.
It plays a huge role in a person's overall health.

Pain In Your Liver: According to Healthline, the first direct sign that your liver is full
of toxins is a pain in that general area.
The liver is located on the upper right portion of your abdomen, under your stomach and beneath

It is extremely large.
The pain that you will feel can be compared to a dull pain.
However, depending on the toxins in it, the pain can become unbearable.
Remember, if your liver is suffering from a disease, it cannot operate properly.

If you have not changed anything in your exercise routine or your diet and are sleeping well
every night but are still noticing extreme fatigue, contact your doctor to rule out any

hello and welcome to 4Rays Tech now I've been requested by a lot of users to
review the Lenovo 320 now I have reviewed the Lenovo 330 before link 2
which is up here and this is a lot more cheaper IdeaPad base model that starts
at around three hundred and ninety dollars with that budget in mind it's
sure to know that it is made of plastic and in that aluminum look-alike body it
weighs around 4.4 pounds the lid can be opened with one hand if done
slowly and yes it does bend to a fair degree so gotta keep that in mind the
long hinge works fine but still a lot of wobble in screen with even a little
shaking disk yes you can tilt it back to 180 degrees seems useless to me on an
honest note but it's doable the chiclet keyboard like the one in Lenovo 330 it
lacks the tactile feel but overall it feels really good to type on has
adequate spacing and can be easily ranked as one of the good keyboards the
mousepad is fairly accurate there is enough space
around it and most movements are registered precisely without any lag
now the ports on the Left we have the power jack with Ethernet HDMI 2 type a
USB 3.1 ports a combo audio jack a Type C 3.1 port memory card reader and status
LED on the right we have the DVD rewriter and Kensington lock thankfully
all the useful ports are placed on the left side that leaves enough space for
the mouse on right
getting inside takes a lot of screws to access internals 4gb RAM is soldered and
the good news is you can add more RAM to the available slot and yes you can add
the M.2 SSD to extend the laptop storage 15.6 inch screen firstly the
good thing it isn't reflective so the matte display works great for me however
that's the only good thing the color reproduction is disappointing viewing
angles are below average and for casual multimedia this would be fine but it is
definitely not a screen for those looking to do color Corrections on it
that said it isn't an ideal screen for outdoor usage either so it is a letdown
I come across reviewing most budget laptops so I hope that can be improved
with cheaper better LED screens now the thermals and fan noise I noticed minor
noise even on lower loads temperature-wise
it's stayed quite good I got 49 degrees on lite usage peaking 68 degrees on Mac
CPU load tester and 70 on Cinebench multi-core test and there hasn't been a
CPU performance drop over time so it is a plus for users will be using this
laptop for longer periods
speakers are at the front bottom the sound okay and are fairly loud for most
multimedia
the 30 watthour battery can give you run for hours on light to moderate usage
however and the intense usage it won't go beyond 2 hours so keeping a charger
is essential so the 2 areas where I see this laptop struggling is mainly the
cheap screen and then the ok battery timings and that's something which I
mentioned in my review of the Lenovo 330 as well I hope that can be improved in
future budget laptops by Lenovo or any other company so who is this laptop for
it's for low budget users who need a lot of connectivity options do online
surfing they use Photoshop social media networking Microsoft Office as well so

your money towards people in buy mode so now what does that have to do with do
you need a website or not here's what it has to do with it
there's a lot of people would inform me with information on website out there
that basically doesn't put any money in their pocket okay if you're looking for
like for example somebody made the case that hey every business has a website
these days and therefore you must have a website and I kind of agree with that
but not all the way okay because frankly people could be following you because
you create lots of content that help them over time and that content frankly
could just be on Instagram pages okay it could just be a one minute post that's
consistent enough you build a big enough followership on Instagram and you can
build a viable profitable business from that without having a website is that
possible heck yeah that's possible so the trust
factor was built based on the fact that that person shows up every day to give
valuable content and help people right on the flip side I can see how people
could be googling information and they are in research mode and they have a few
options they have a few options and they're like
let me read a little bit more on this guy right and they start the google your
name and if they find a good informational website about your story
and how you got here that can be helpful okay for in fact that can be very very
helpful but if they don't find you you know after all they have many other
options anyway but like I said that wouldn't be an issue if you are spending
your money on people that are in buying mode okay so let's talk about people
that are in buy mode there are certain trigger words to get things to say in
your compelling sales message that get them to put sugar and work with you plus
you don't have all that much time okay remember they're in a buying mood right
you don't have the time to be digging around and seeing what's best
if you sound right and you sound top and you sound like a fit for what they're
looking for for example you haven't had on Facebook that stays fair offer for an
ugly house right if somebody has a house that's laying around that that's not
useful you know a house they inherited and it's collecting tax bills right
right there right there they will click on the link and they will contact you
right they fill out a form you don't care about an about page if what you are
saying basically give them what they want right in that point in time when
they're in a buying mood they will contact you okay but the same thing goes
for if it was a phone call if the code so actually it really depends on what
the call-to-action was if the call to action was simply give me a call if you
have a house for sale then they can call you so in that case your marketing
message resonated with them and they picked up the phone and they called you
if you say text you they picked up the phone and they sent you a text message
right so either it's a website as a phone it's a text messaging sister
whatever it is as long as it's a call to action that can allow people to contact
you that's really the most important part of real estate wholesaling okay and
at the end of the day when you send out the marketing message
you want it to be compelling enough to speak and trigger and pull the triggers
that may people that want to that maybe people want to do business with you what
are those things what problem solution your credibility
you can see all of that in one video you can see all of that in one write off in
one ad copy right with a good call to action okay with a good call to action
and then on top of that you could have a few more things like scarcity you can
have some scarcity triggers you can have fear of loss in the marketing message
you know as long as you follow the regular protocols of putting the nice
and decent sales trigger trigger driven sales message together my point is that
it's not really gonna matter if you have a website or not it really doesn't if
you have a way of doing direct mailing in a profitable way as long as all the
triggers are inside of that letter then people will call you and you can go
there and secure the bag does that make sense
so my point here is it doesn't really really matter okay it's really the
purpose behind the website that makes it matter okay if you have a website that
people land on and it's compelling enough for people to fill out the form
so they can book it through consulting with you there was a phone number where
they can call you it's not the website is the fact that people can contact you
that's what matters do you know where web so a website if
you feel like that's a valuable thing to make that happen in 2018 and beyond then
yes you need a website it's not about the website is the question is the real
question is that do I need a way for people to contact me or for people to
book a session with me or for people to contact me if they have a house for sale
right now if they feel like my services is that fit for them do I need something
to collect that that's really the real question you should be asking do I need
a website is like no for what for purpose do you need a website for
purpose that's a real question right because that makes me say you don't
what the website does right so some people say you needed sales for now you
don't need a website well that's a website it's a web page on the internet
on the web so but but there's a purpose behind it once you say a sales funnel
okay so it's not a really a website that you need it's a sales funnel that you
need does that make sense it's a place where people can travel
through an experience and feel compelled enough to call you because they feel
like your marketing message is a fit for what they have to for what they want
right so you need a place where people can contact you about a property that's
that they need to get rid of right if you're building a buyer's list you need
a the page where people can feel like I need to get on this guy's biased list
because he has discounted properties right that's a wholesaler those are the

even the man that is the most serious in the world,
needs a woman who can act too.
So, if you wanna see if this man is really serious,
you need to bring him in your own world.
How does he act when you do activities that you like?
Is he really present, does he ask questions?
Is he really interested about you?
How does he act when you see some friends?
For the beginning of the relationship, is he okay?
Is he social, or is he maybe taking some distance?
Not really making some effort to know your friends.
It's some simple things like this
that you can analyze if a man is really serious.
When he has to go out of his comfort zone.
This is something that I want to share with you.
Because, as you know, since 2007,
I've got so many women over the world.
They are missing some self confidence.
Always asking, "Is he serious?
"Does he want a real relationship with me?
"Do you think I can attract him?"
And my answers are always the same.
Think about the comfort zone, okay?
If he can step out of this comfort zone,
that means he's really serious about you.
That means he's doing a lot of effort.
He wants to show you that you are important for him.
So, this is not something easy.

What is Shopify Locations, and should you use it? || Shopify Help Center - Duration: 4:01.
This video introduces the new locations feature in Shopify.
You'll learn about the benefits, limitations, and setup process, so you can decide if this
update suits your business needs.
This update allows you to track inventory, fulfill orders, and make sales across all
your locations.
This means accurate inventory counts per product, per location.
You'll also be able to control which locations are assigned to fulfill orders from your online
sales channels.
This update will also work with Shopify's point-of-sale, to ensure your inventory counts
are up-to-date and accurate at every location.
"Locations" are any physical place where you keep inventory.
For example, a location might be a retail store, pop-up, or warehouse.
If you use any apps that are third-party fulfillment services, like fulfillment warehouses or dropshippers,
those are considered locations in Shopify too and will appear in this list after you
enable locations.
As of September 2018, all stores can track inventory and fulfill orders from multiple
locations.
If you use Shopify's point-of-sale app, and already have multiple locations in Shopify,
there's some setup work and information that you need to know before you enable inventory
at locations.
Specifically, you need to get ready to update your inventory quantities for each location
in Shopify.
It's also important for you to know that enabling this feature is an irreversible change
in Shopify.
In other words, once you enable this feature, you can't go back to the way your store
was tracking inventory or fulfilling orders before.
It's best to enable this feature at a quiet time for online sales, and preferably when
any retail locations you have are closed.
This is because you'll need time to update the inventory quantities across all your locations.
For the smoothest transition, have up-to-date inventory counts ready for all of your locations'
quantities.
Once you enable this feature, your inventory quantities and any online orders will be assigned
to your Shipping origin location.
On your locations settings page, there's a grey label that says "shipping origin"
beside your shipping origin location.
Some apps to help manage inventory and orders aren't compatible with multiple locations
yet.
bIf you have private apps or apps from the Shopify App Store that aren't compatible
with multiple locations, you'll see a banner letting you know you might not be able to
enable this feature yet.
If you choose to uninstall incompatible apps, you won't be able to re-install them until
they've been updated to work with locations.
If they're critical to running your business, it's best to wait for the apps to get updated
before you enable inventory at locations.
Next, how to enable inventory tracking at locations.
In your Shopify admin, click "Settings" and then click "Locations".When you're
ready to start tracking inventory at all of your locations, click "Enable inventory
at locations".
You'll see a confirmation screen explaining that your existing inventory quantities will
be assigned to your shipping origin location.
Products at your other point-of-sale locations will have quantities of zero until their inventory
is updated.
This means that any orders from online sales will be assigned to the shipping origin location
for fulfillment, because it's the only location with any available inventory to start.
If this is a good time to proceed with this update, click the checkbox that says "I'm
ready to enable inventory at my locations.
This change can't be undone."
Then click the button that says "Enable inventory at locations".
Your store's now tracking inventory at all of your locations.
As you can see, this pre-existing third party fulfillment location has been automatically
added to the list of locations.
This will be the same for any inventory related apps that are installed in your store.
The next step is to update your inventory quantities at each location and customize
your fulfillment priority list.
You'll also need to make sure you have the latest version of the point-of-sale app, to
work with locations.
When you next login to point-of-sale, you'll be prompted to choose a location.
If you've updated your inventory quantities in Shopify, they'll be updated in your point-of-sale
as well.

and then maybe I'd chase you a little bit more as you're moving a little bit slower.

Definitely, and I know that a lot of people in the state look up to us
as athletes and just women.
And role models.

Giving back to our community is so important because they give us so much.
You know, that's what a university is about, it's about building community and we're building

2019 Leisure Travel Vans Unity FX Review | Just How Flexible is This Class C RV? - Duration: 14:14.
Today's episodes all about flexibility
I'm reviewing the 2019 Leisure Travel
Vans Unity FX and we're starting right
now! What's going on
Neil Balthaser here and welcome to Ultra
mobility the channel where you vote for
the RVs that you want reviewed and
compared. It was a close one this week
neck and neck between the Travato 59KL
and the Leisure Travel Vans Unity FX but
the Unity supporters poured in at the
last minute pushing it over the finish
line with a final vote tally of 55 to 45.
So that's the review we're doing today
No worries lithium lovers the 59 KL
review is coming out next week. Let's
take a quick look at some exterior shots
the Unity is about as good-looking as a
huge box on the back of a cutaway
chassis can look. At least Leisure made
an effort to try and give this thing a
kind of streamlined look. Mayb? Sort of. I
mean come on it's a lot better looking
than the bread delivery vans or airport
shuttles you get from other manufacturers. Who said it? I said it!
It's got 34 cubic feet of exterior storage but there's no pass-thru
storage.
Don't cry for me Argentina you do get a
slide-out
which includes two compartment drawers
that come out with the slide-out so
that's kind of cool. Built on the
Mercedes Sprinter 3500 cab chassis this
rear-wheel drive 3 liter v6 diesel
engine sports a five-speed transmission
and delivers a hundred and eighty eight
horsepower and 325 foot-pounds of torque
you can expect to see around 16 to 18
miles per gallon. That's pretty good
mileage for a house. Let's briefly talk
about hookups. No I'm not talking about
that kind of hookup.
How old do you think I am? I'm talking
about utility hookups and on the Unity
FX they're located on the driver side
near the back. The good news: the cable TV
and Shore power plugs are up higher. The
bad news: water and the optional
macerator control switch are located way
down low. Alright let's head inside and
see what all this flexibility talk is
about.This is the layout of the Unity FX
you've got a lounge up front that has
all these crazy configurations and we'll
get into that in a minute.There's a
Murphy bed that drops down to convert
the lounge into your bedroom and we'll
also get to that. Mid section you've got
our galley and in the back there's a
second lounge and your bathroom. Okay
let's talk about this front lounge since
it's the star of the show.
I will admit there's a ton of different
configurations you can do with this
lounge. Let's just run through them so
you can see for yourself: You can have
two individual chairs with a small flip
up table between. You can move the seat
backs to face each other and flip down a
larger table for dining. You can fill in
the middle section and have a large sofa.
You can extend out the base of each
chair grab some cushions from the rear
lounge and have matching Ottomans. You
can extend up the armrest to add support
for the back cushions and create a
chaise lounge. Or you can drop in the
armrest / drink holder and create
theater seats. Also the two cab seats
swivel around and there's a pedestal
table they can be set up between them as
well. So that's a lot of flexibility and
I do have to hand it to Leisure travel
vans the concept is really cool but I
also have to point out some things that
bother me. First there are no three-point
seat belts other than the two cab
seats this is a two-person RV max and
that's a shame because the Unity FX
would be more flexible if it could carry
four passengers. Also to seat four people
at the table you're gonna have to
perform a little furniture yoga. It goes
something like this: you pull out the
extensions from each chair base then
remove the larger seat cushions from
each side and find a place to stow them
and then you run back to the rear lounge
and get for smaller cushions and use
them as new seat bottoms two on each
side then you raise the arm rests on
each side to provide support for the
backrest and then you move each backrest
center so the two people can share part
of it... Don't worry there'll be some kind
of instructions that you can follow
I'm sure. Finally when I tried these
configurations out myself I thought they
were better in concept than execution.
The biggest beef I have with many of
them is that the seat cushions and backs
are just kind of sitting there. They're
not really attached to anything. Yeah you
can see that there are some places to
snap the seat backs into place but
they're not available in all
configurations and so I kind of felt
like things were sliding around. I'd
rather have less configurations that are
better thought out. Okay let's talk about
the Murphy bed. It's pretty simple to set
up. You need to make sure you have the
seat cushions in place and the table
tops folded away. Then you just unlock a
couple pins and drop down the bed. It's
pretty straightforward. The bed's 68 by
76 inches and if you're over 6 feet tall
you're going to be okay. I'm 5'10" and you
can see that I have plenty of room. A
couple standout features are the built
in back rests
that are adjustable so that you can sit
up and watch TV and the bank of awning
style windows above. Keep in mind that
the slide-out has to be out for the
Murphy bed to
have enough room to drop down. If Jenny
Craig's working for you you'll have just
enough room to squeeze between the bed
and the kitchen counter to get to the
bathroom at night. And I know if you're
as old as me you're running to the
bathroom at night. Let's talk quickly
about some standout features on the
Unity FX.
First there's ducted AC and full water
filtration standard also there's the
Truman aqua go comfort Plus instant hot
water heater and I love the comfort plus
model because it constantly recirculates
hot water in the lines so you're never
waiting when you turn on the hot water
and and Leisure Travel ops for the
upgraded Mercedes chassis with all the
driving safety assist features like
blind spot and collision detection. There
are also a couple upgrades
worth a shoutout: I wish every coach
builder offered a Wi-Fi cellular
extender. It's one of those things every
modern camper needs on the road. And the
power stabilization jacks are only for
stabilizing and not for leveling but
they will eliminate that wobble that you
see in some of my videos as I walk
around. Alright let's head into the
galley where we're also going to talk
about the FX's electrical system. I love
the modern and sleek look of the galley.
Shown here is the glamour decor package
with Bianca white matte finished upper
cabinet. Ewwwww weeeee! Very sexy! A clean-looking
Corian counter and beautiful curved
radius cabinet doors below the sink all
complement each other and work well.
You've got a big window with awning
style lower windows that open and a
dedicated fantastic fan above so
ventilation is great in this galle. Also
CamperDude one of my subscribers
pointed this out and I agree with him: a
stove's placement should be away from any
furniture so that when we guys cook we
don't mar the furniture with our epic
cooking failures. Good point
CamperDude. Ysou and I are safe to cook
in this galley. About the only ding I
have is that there's no counter
extension so that limits your prep space
to what you see here. As far as storage
you've got loads of it. The upper
cabinets are 12 inches deep so your
plate should fit up there fine. You've
also got a tall and deep pull out pantry
and on the other side of the galley
you've got a 6.7 cubic foot three-way
refrigerator with a separate freezer and
above a convection microwave. Both the
refrigerator and microwave doors are
positive locking - bonus points Leisure
Travel Vans. One last thing of note: look
down. You've got plenty of aisle width even
with all those drawers open. If you're
standing at the stove someone can easily
get past you to get to the rear of the
coach. Let's take a look at the FX's
electrical system. First off it's just
lead-acid batteries no lithium upgrade
available here. Time to step into the
21st century Leisure Travel Vans and
offer a lithium upgrade. Also the 1000
watt inverter is lacking by today's
standard. We need at least 2,000
watts to run things like the microwave
without needing to start the generator.
Speaking of generators both are options
here. You can upgrade to a 3.6kw 218 00:10:31,260 --> 00:10:38,070 LP generator for $3,900 or
for a whopping $7800
go for the 3.2kw
diesel generator. You can get up
to four hundred watts of solar for
$2,800 so as electrical system go I
think Leisure Travel Vans can do better
at the very least they should include a
generator as standard. Time to move on to
the back of the coach where we're going
to take a look at this rear lounge and
the bathroom. Keeping in mind that we're
in an RV
that's 25 feet long. It's kind of
cool that we have such a spacious second
lounge back here. It's an L shaped
configuration tucked in the corner which
makes it cozy and private.There's a
second 24 inch LCD TV facing towards the
back and once again demonstrating its
flexibility there's a stowaway ottoman
under that seat we're facing which can
also function as a workstation table or
dining tray. If you have grandkids or
you're shorter this area could also be
made into a small bed but I'm 5'10" and
you can see it's not big enough for me.
Let's take a look in the bathroom. This
is a dry bath which means the toilet and
shower are separate. Speaking of toilet
I'm a little squished on this toilet my
shoulders are scrunched in my head is
hitting that thing above me. I've been in
Class B vans where I haven't been as
squished. Turning to the shower there's
pretty good height here thanks to the
skylight plus the shower components are
recessed which gives me a bit more elbow
room. As far as tank sizes are concerned
we've got really generous tanks on this
Unity FX. Okay it's judgment time
should you avoid the Unity FX? Consider
it? Shortlist it? Or buy it? I think you
should consider it. There are other Class
C coaches out there that are more
practical than the Unity FX
including some from Leisure Travel Vans
itself. Having two lounges is great but I
think trading a less flexible lounge for
a permanent dead setup is a better way
to go. Finally you know I can't close out
this episode without saying something
about Leisure Travel Vans short two-year
coach warranty. The Leisure Travel Vans
brand is synonymous with quality and you
know what their coach warranty
needs to also reflect that. All right

WOMAN: Do you need to be able to read music to play it?
The answer is in the question itself.
There are so many people that can't read music that make music.
I wish I could read music. It takes me forever.
I'm like, "Every good boy deserves...fruit!"
OK. F!
It's mostly guitar tabs for me. Yeah.
I mean, it gets the job done.
MAN: Yeah, I know what chords I'm playing, I know the basics.
But often I don't know what key I'm in.
When I was learning the violin,
my teacher would be watching me playing.
I would be pretending to read the music,
but I'd be imitating him,
because I just couldn't read that well.
So he'd be like, "Well done!" (EXHALES)
WOMAN: Rather than having to take a couple of hours
to listen to something played over and over and over again,
it's cool that you can have this piece of paper
and you can turn it into a piece of music.
If you're, like, a classical player, and you can't read music,
then it's a bit of a disability.
I bluffed my way through an entire music degree
without really being able to read that well.
And take it from me, it can be done.
(CLASSICAL MUSIC)
Dan, I think that written sheet music
is actually very scary for a lot of people.
Yeah, I think especially when you're first learning music
it can be huge barrier.
But you don't have to read music in order to play it.
Like, I played music before, I've never learnt how to read it,
and a lot of people that I know that are artists don't read it either.
No, of course not.
And if there's one thing that we've shown on this show
it's that music is for everyone, regardless of ability or training.
I mean, we even asked an expert,
"Do you need to be able to read music in order to play it?"
No.
Well, that's it then. That is the episode.
Please go ahead and play music, whether or not you can read it.
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa...
I think there's still a lot of merit to being able to read music.
Yeah, I guess.
It's safe to assume that for as long as humans have been around,
music has been around as well.
But what about musical notation?
Some say the earliest fragment of musical notation was found
on a 4000-year-old Sumerian clay tablet,
composed in cuneiform by ancient Hurrians.
But the earliest complete score archaeologists have found
is the Seikilos Epitaph,
with lyrics and melody written in ancient Greek musical notation,
dated to around 100AD.
But how did we get from that, to this?
Let's go to ninth century Europe,
where churches are notating chants and songs.
This form of musical notation is called a neume.
As you've noticed, they don't actually tell you what note to sing,
but only indicate whether the pitch of the note rises or falls.
It's not the easiest thing to read,
and so later on, a monk called Guido of Arezzo
tries to make life easier for everyone.
Guido helps create this thing, the staff.
No, it's not a stick to smack young singers over the head with,
if they get it wrong.
It's actually system where notes would be placed
across four lines and spaces -
a more accurate way of displaying pitch.
Speaking of, he also invented solfege,
which we know nowadays as,
do, re, mi, fa...and so on.

# Mi # Fa
# So # La
# Ti # Do #
But a staff doesn't tell you how long to hold these notes.
So in the early 13th century, mensural notation developed.
And, as it evolved, notes had more precise rhythmic durations.
Then another line was added at some stage.
A few more other things happened, and voila.
By the 17th century, you begin to get scores
that are starting to look a lot like
the sheet music we commonly have today.
But now, this is only western sheet music.
If we take a sidestep to China or Japan,
there are completely different systems of notation,
using characters and numbers to represent music.
Then you have new modern shorthand systems, like guitar tabs,
figured bass, and chord charts.
And technology can also house notation.
If you use any software like ProTools, GarageBand,
Ableton, The Grid and MidiSystems can all count
as musical notation.
Basically notation is just a visual representation of music.
MAN: We've spent over a thousand years
working out how to write down something
which is incredibly abstract.
You know, music is sound passing through time.
You can't really explain a piece of music
by talking about it in words.
It's much better to listen to it.
But if you want to transmit that to someone,
and there is more than you can simply sing to them
and get to sing back to you,
then you need to write it down.
And that communicates how to make that piece of music
without necessarily having to go and learn it from someone.
So clearly, written music is way more complex and inclusive than we think.
Absolutely.
And also music notation evolves with technology and instruments
and also necessity.
Making music is one of the great joys of being human.
But for people with vision impairment,
there are some fundamental challenges.
Based in Melbourne, the Statewide Vision Resource Centre
is tackling these challenges
with one of the oldest tricks in the book - braille.
So why is it important to get kids who can't see or have reduced vision
to engage with braille music?
The question I'd throw back at you is
why would you teach print music notation to anyone?
Print music is a way of being able to represent music
that somebody else has composed.
You can also understand the dynamics and what the nuances of music are
if you're reading the details of the music.
What's a crescendo?
Those sorts of pieces of information are right throughout music.
So the braille cell is a set of six possible dots that could be raised.
The top four in braille music are the ones
that show you what note is being played,
and the bottom two dots are the ones that show you
how long you play them for.
I'll just put a C crotchet over here.
If this dot preceding a C crotchet is raised,
that tells you that you're in the fourth octave.
It's a really super code, and you can write crescendo,
and you can write decrescendo.
Anything you can see in your print gets represented in the braille.
If you cannot see, the only way you can find out about stuff
is by touching.
So these kids look with their fingers.
How do you play rock'n'roll? Well...
You go strum, strum. Yeah, yeah, absolutely.
I like to get the kids to hear music
and to touch the instruments that are making the music.
And then they can go away understanding what it is
that makes those sounds that come through their radio.
Braille music has helped Jordie Howell find a career in music,
and a really successful one, at that.
JORDIE HOWELL: I've used braille music all my life.
I sing as a soloist for oratorios and as a chorister
so I use it to keep track of my own part,
and to keep bars rest when I'm not singing.
I also teach and use it to read the music for my students.
And so what does braille music give you
that recordings and just copying off recordings doesn't?
It gives me dynamics, articulation, staccatos,
accents, tenutos, louds and softs.
It gives me the ability to be independent,
rather than learning by rote
what someone else's interpretation of something is.
I can interpret, rather than just learning from a recording,
and that may not be quite accurate.
It also gives me the ability
to learn something at the last minute, sometimes. (LAUGHS)
Whereas if I was learning by rote,
I would need more time to prepare and to learn.
I can turn up to a rehearsal, and although it's not ideal,
if there's a music score that's been given to me at the last minute,
I can read it along with my sighted choristers.
I can certainly participate fully in that way
in a mainstream setting.

I am ready to learn how to read music.
How hard is this going to be?
Oh, not super hard, because luckily,
I've just prepared a short video to show you how to read music.
OK, so you've got the staff with five lines.
Notes alternate on the lines and spaces -
going up the pitch is higher, going down is lower.
The symbol at the beginning is a clef,
and that tells you what notes the lines represent.
This is a C on the treble clef.
This is the same C on the bass clef.
Basically, different instruments have different clefs,
depending on how it's pitched.
The piano is one of the very few instruments that have both clefs
because it has heaps of notes.
From left to right is time.
This is the time signature.
It tells you how many beats are in a bar.
And these lines are bars.
A key signature tells you what key to play in,
and if you need to play certain notes as flats or sharps.
The way the note looks tells you how long to play it for.
This is a whole note.
Half notes are half the length of whole notes.
Quarter, eighth, and so on.
These have weird names, as well.
Crotchets, quavers, semiquavers, demiquavers, demisemiquavers.
Oh, and these are the rests.
It means you don't play anything.
They correspond to the same note values.
And usually there's a tempo marking at the top
to tell you how fast or slow to play.
Andante, allegro con spirito,
and then there are lots of other words
that add details and expression.
P means quiet and F means loud.
Most of these expressions
come from Italian,
so it's OK
if you mistake them for pasta.

Judge Brett Kavanaugh thought that today would be the day that he'd be confirmed as the
as the newest member of the US Supreme Court.
He's worked his entire adult life to get to the honorable position with the highest
court in the country.
His career course was derailed in the final days before it became official by a woman
from his past who came forward with a shocking sexual assault allegation against him, which
allegedly took place when Kavanaugh was just a teen.
The validity of of Christine Blasey Ford's claim has not been proven or disproven, despite
being given a deadline of 10am on Monday morning to testify about the details of her assertion
that could destroy Kavanaugh's chances of being confirmed.
The ongoing charade still continues today as her deadline has passed, but the confirmation
process is still not moving forward for an aggravating reason.
One can only imagine how incredibly frustrated and upset Judge Kavanaugh must be about the
seemingly "well timed" accusation against him.
He's the enemy to the leftists agenda and it appears that Dr.Ford is being bolstered
up by Democrats to derail President Trump's decision to nominate Kavanaugh, despite a
great lack of detail the alleged victim has in her claim against the judge.
To drag out the drama, or at least add to it, is that Dr.Ford refuses to fly from her
home in Palo Alto, California to Washington, DC to testify on time because she's allegedly
afraid of airplanes.
Instead, she opted to drive across the country, a distance of just under 3,000 miles which
will take a few days.
Had she not waited, perhaps strategically so, as some claim, until the "11th hour"
to insert this assault claim into the confirmation decision, then she could have given herself
more time to travel and still meet the deadline.
Even still, the process has been stalled to accommodate her so she can be heard.
Meanwhile, Judge Kavanaugh's life remains in limbo, his family is being attacked with
death threats, some of which are specifically targeted at his two young daughters.
The insanity needs to end but all hinges on what Dr.Ford says and when she actually will
say it…if she really does in the end.
She's waited over three decades to announce it and there's nothing to say she won't
keep waiting longer to drag this out further.
However, Kavanaugh has had enough of the charade.
He seems to have exceeded the level of frustration one could possibly feel in this high profile
and extremely stressful ordeal.
Not much has been heard from him in the past few days of immense coverage of the situation,
but now he's breaking his silence and is being heard before Dr.Ford arrives in Washington,
DC.
PBS News Hour reports the sudden, shocking announcement Kavanaugh made to the Senate
Judiciary Committee regarding accusations against him from decades ago:
Judge Brett Kavanaugh says he will "not be intimidated into withdrawing" his nomination
for the Supreme Court after allegations of sexual misconduct.
Kavanaugh and his first accuser, Christine Blasey Ford, will testify to the Senate Judiciary
Committee on Thursday.
A second woman, Deborah Ramirez, has told The New Yorker that Kavanaugh exposed himself
to her in college.
Kavanaugh denies both allegations.
In a letter to the Judiciary panel, Kavanaugh says, "These are smears, pure and simple."
He calls the allegations "grotesque and obvious character assassination" and says
they could dissuade others from entering public service.
Kavanaugh says threats of violence against his family and "the coordinated effort to
destroy my good name" won't drive him out.
Several Senate Republicans have called the allegations "smears" and urged a vote
on Kavanaugh after Thursday's hearing.
Dear Chairman Grassley and Ranking Member Feinstein:
When I testified in front of the Senate three weeks ago, I explained my belief that fair
process is foundational to justice and to our democracy.
At that time, I sat before the Senate Judiciary Committee for more than 31 hours and answered
questions under oath.
I then answered more questions at a confidential session.
The following week, I responded to more than 1,200 written
questions, more than have been submitted to all
previous Supreme Court nominees combined.
Only after that exhaustive process was complete did I learn, through the news media, about
a 36- year-old allegation from high school that
had been asserted months earlier and withheld from me throughout the hearing process.
First it was an anonymous allegation that I categorically and
unequivocally denied.
Soon after the accuser was identified, I repeated my denial on the record
and made clear that I wished to appear before the Committee.
I then repeated my denial to Committee investigators—under criminal penalties
for false statements.
All of the witnesses identified by Dr. Ford as being present at
the party she describes are on the record to the
Committee saying they have no recollection of any such party happening.
I asked to testify before the Committee again under oath as soon
as possible, so that both Dr. Ford and I could both be heard.
I thank Chairman Grassley for scheduling that hearing for Thursday.
Last night, another false and uncorroborated accusation from 35 years ago was published.
Once again, those alleged to have been witnesses
to the event deny it ever happened.
There is now a frenzy to come up with something—anything—that
will block this process and a vote on my confirmation from occurring.
These are smears, pure and simple.
And they debase our public discourse.
But they are also a threat to any man or woman who wishes to serve
our country.
Such grotesque and obvious character assassination—if allowed to succeed—will
dissuade competent and good people of all political persuasions from service.
As I told the Committee during my hearing, a federal judge must be independent, not swayed
by public or political pressure.
That is the kind of judge I will always be.
I will not be intimidated into withdrawing from this process.
The coordinated effort to destroy my good name will not drive me out.
The vile threats of violence against my family will not drive me out.
The last-minute character assassination will not succeed.
I have devoted my career to serving the public and the cause of justice, and particularly
to promoting the equality and dignity of women.
Women from every phase of my life have come forward to attest to my character.
I am grateful to them.
I owe it to them, and to my family, to defend my integrity and my name.
I look forward to answering questions from the Senate on Thursday.
