Youtube daily music Sep 25 2018

hey you guys Trey here and welcome to the final part of my series on hiring a

producer

the session that I have up here I think it may have featured this in some other

videos this is a fun song it's kind of dancehall client was super happy with

the way it turned out most of the production had already been done

they just wasn't really mixed and a client wanted me to do all the vocal

work and to add a drop and things like that so I want to talk about the kind of

elements that come after I get a vocal done and get a production kind of laid

out and this song has some elements that I want to show so let me play it for you

and talk about what I did

all right somebody's getting to the course I'll show you the drop and then

I'll talk about this becomes the drop

all right so cool there's a lot of great vocals in this I really love this part

love that he's also good a great really fun song when I got this the track had

some cool parts but it wasn't really sitting in a nice way I went through and

I really did the same thing on the vocals that I do for all of my go

through and I tune and tweak I didn't have to do any comping but I probably

aligned some parts there in the chorus then I started on the mix in this case

let me just really focus for a minute on the drop there was no drop in the song

the client asked for one so I created this thing

so what I was really trying to do here is create something fun obviously I've

got to chop vocal that I took out of Fidel's vocal but I also bring back the

talk about it that's the main line that's the hook the title so I wanted to

come back and focus on that it's really important because if you listen to the

chorus see how many times you actually get the title

all right so you basically get the title at the intro of the course and that's it

as far as trying to get a song on the radio you need to clearly lay out what

your title is what your hook is so that the listener can get it and sing along

so I tried to focus on that with the drop so I do it I do it a chop fashion

but you got to talk about it thing there

it's nicely

a couple of things that are happening there bring the energy up because the

course is kind of just cool laid-back right so I brought some energy to the

drop I like to use the actual singers vocals so all that kind of stuff has to

happen after I get to vocals and creating a vocal chop and it dropped

like that that can take anywhere from a couple hours to maybe half a day so for

this last example the artist she had been in town for about a week working on

various songs which she came in to track this her voice was kind of worn out she

was on her last leg so I really had to take a lesser amount of parts you really

build a full vocal out of this thing I got a lot of great parts out of her but

there were some rough moments let me play it for you then I'll show you some

of the things that I did to really help fill in the gaps really create some

energy where there was none

I'm going to stop there so the first thing I did was I was looking at the

verse and I realized there was a huge gap between the two verse sections that

really needed something a little friends where they know

I first added the guitar part

we using some reverse verbs on that guitar really trying to create something

ethereal with it then I brought in a chopped vocal

again reversed verbs that I was using there to create a sort of certain

spacious feel but it wasn't quite enough so I brought in on top of that

so bring that where are they now so those are some examples of how after all

the work you've done on the track you've got to come back and make this a full

song make it catchy alright let's look at the chorus

now on this next section where she sings this sort of non lyric melodical part

there's a sense supporting that

this is how we find every way you can to make the vocals sit right to give every

line the proper support in the end I want to have exceeded the expectations

of the client I want them to be able to feel like I filled their vision and yet

it brought something creatively that was just its own artistic enhancement to

their song the process isn't simple but it is worth it all right you guys so I

hope that my little series here was valuable to you in some way I hope that

I presented it in an enjoyable way please like and subscribe please hit

that notification bell so that you will be able to know when I put out more

videos and so there you go until next time

It's September and the summer's leaving

The pearly sand is desolate

But painfully clutched into my sea

I'm collecting the last sun rays

With my hair wet by the salty water

Shaggy teasing with the winds

I'm walking away from you, fairy sea

I'm leaving you in the cold embrace

But I'll often come back to the coast

Despite your waters will be icy

And sitting on a bench

Nestling my dreams

I'll be enjoying the game of the waves

And here's me having come to you again, sea

Despite that chill has stiffed your shores

I'm gonna wait for the sunny July run

'Cause every single pebble on this shore is dear to me

But I'll often come back to the coast

Despite your waters will be icy

And sitting on a bench

Nestling my dreams

I'll be enjoying the game of the waves

I love you, my sea

Peaceful music, Relaxing music, Instrumental Music "The Forgotten forest" - Duration: 2:23:18.

The Power of Music To Reduce Stress

The soothing power of music is well-established

It has a unique link to our emotions

so can be an extremely effective stress management tool.

Listening to music can have a tremendously relaxing effect

on our minds and bodies

especially slow, quiet classical music.

This type of music can have a beneficial effect on our physiological functions

slowing the pulse and heart rate

lowering blood pressure,

and decreasing the levels of stress hormones.

As music can absorb our attention

it acts as a distraction at the same time

it helps to explore emotions

This means it can be a great aid to meditation

helping to prevent the mind wandering.

Musical preference varies widely between individuals

so only you can decide what you like and what is suitable for each mood.

But even if you don't usually listen to classical music

it may be worth giving it a try

when selecting the most calming music.

When people are very stressed

there is a tendency to avoid actively listening to music

Perhaps it feels like a waste of time

not helping to achieve anything.

But as we know,

productivity increases when stress is reduced,

so this is another area where you can gain vast rewards

It just takes a small effort to begin with

To incorporate music into a busy life,

try playing CDs in the car,

or put the radio on when in the bath or shower.

Take portable music with you when walking the dog

or put the stereo on instead of the TV.

Singing (or shouting) along

can also be a great release of tension

and karaoke is very enjoyable

for some extroverts!

Calming music before bedtime

promotes peace and relaxation and helps to induce sleep.

Nashville: a trip in the Music City (ENG subs) - Duration: 9:10.

Nashville, Tennesse. The american music capital. Here everything is

about music, even the advertising in the airport is about live music clubs,

beer spots and news have a guitar in their logo, fast food are named after

radio music programs and guitars are showcased. In town you can hear

music everywhere and everytime. Even the school ring bell plays September

by Earth Wind and Fire.

And guitar shops, museums, concert halls, almost everything is brand new and

built to enhance economy and tourism. It could sound like a made up amusement park, but

it's all about good music, which is not bad at all.

I'm Pietro of Accordo.it and today I'm not talking you from my usual studio because I got to the USA

to learn about the latest news from Taylor Guitars for 2019. But we can talk later about this.

Today I want to share with you my Nashville experience, living on my sking

what does it mean to be in a city that makes music and mainly guitar

its primary business.

Let's just skip the journey from home to Nashville, something like a 30 trip hours that went

almost like this.

FUUUUU....

... CK!

Nashville is one of the symbols of country music, it has a huge heritage

and lately it has grown really fast.

The Music City Center, a concert place over about 200k square meters

opened in 2013 is the perfect example.

But Nashville isn't a tourist fake thing and it shows its story

with places like the Ryman Auditorium, one a gospel tabernacle and historic house of

the Grand Ole Opry, where all the greatest used to play,

including Chet Atkins, Hank Williams and Johnny Cash.

When the show moved, the Ryman got closed for about 20 years and it was

about to be torn down, but in 1994 it opened again and in 2012 a huge

reconstruction program started. Today it hosts any kind of event.

It's also a museum, but videos are not allowed in the inside.

Just a few blocks away, you shall visit the Country Music Hall Of Fame in its

peculiar building with a piano-shaped front and, if you look at it from above,

a bass cleff shape. Here you can see a huge collection of astonishing instruments

once belonged to the country music greats. Neither this place allows videos, but

these pictures may make you understand what's like being in three floors of guitars, memorabilia and

music teaching stuff, because here guitars are literally explained in the museums.

It already is dinner time: 6pm, that for a neapolitan guy is

after lunch coffee break. We get to the restaurant where

we're meeting Taylor Guitars. Here in Nashville they may have a great musical heritage, but

gastronomy isn't what americans are known for, so...

mexican restaurant!

Here we met our foreign fellows and Taylor's team.

This sir is Tim O'Brien, vice-president of marketing.

The first night lets us know each others and, after we decided with Tim Godwin,

artist relations for Taylor, that we shall record together the "Tequila song",

we decide to hit Broadway, the live music street.

Meanwhile in the daylight this is a quiet place, even with a few acoustic concerts here and there,

when the sun goes down it literally explodes with people and music in every club, one next to another

and with the stage just next to the street, sometimes behind a window,

sometimes just there with no glass. Walking down Broadway is like shuffling the radio stations.

The party mood takes over us and, with Philip Zeppenfeld from

the german magazine Guitar, we decide to show to the world what great journalist we are.

When an over-excited fan intercepts us, we decide it's time to declare the night over.

Tomorrow is gonna be a long day.

Meet in the hall to finally see the 2019 catalog. Oh yes,

he's Cameron Walt, product marketing manager and our guardian angel

who literally saved me from being stuck in the airport until today.

The conference is at the Southern Ground, recording studios chose by people like

Eric Clapton, Neil Young, Allman Brothers, Brian Setzer, Foo Fighters, Megadet

and a lot of other nice people.

Coffee break while Brandon Bell introduces the studio he's director for and

it's time for Andy Powers, master guitar designer at Taylor Guitars.

Unfortunately, they asked us to keep the secret for now on what we saw, but we'll show you everything very soon.

What we can already show you are

the first impressions by Philip, who you already met, and his colleague

Stephen Hildebrand, who just tried out the new instruments with their own hands.

For the next stop, we move to Gruhn Guitars

this big building stuffed with any kind of guitar, acoustics electrics,

original pieces with big fat price tags and also something a bit... uncommon.

We learn that George Gruhn has another passion:

animals, but not the furry ones. In his office, he has a little snake zoo!

Legend says that he would hide a snake in one of the guitar cases he carried in his car,

so nobody would ever try to steal them, because they couldn't tell which one did contain the dangerous snake.

A short talk with Tim O' Brien, Andy

Powers and the lovely musician Alison Brown, George shares some of his experience

and his point of view about Taylor's latest work. Looks like he really appreciates Andy as a guitar builder.

Lunch time! We can choose between a vegan restaurant and hot fried chicken.

I chose chicken. I notice that I'm sharing the same table

with half of the journalists I read on a daily base from foreign magazines. Only in the evening I'll

discover that this guy is Gearmanndude, one of my favorites and one of the first

youtube gear testers, which I never managed to see in his face. I can confirm

he's not Jack Black. It looks more like Corrado Nuzzo from the italian comedy duo Nuzzo and Di Biase...

Back to the car, we're moving outside the city center... quite outside... for the last stop

at the Bluebird Cafe, a club famous in Nashville for live music and songwriting

where a lot of artists have been discovered and where many bigs still play today.

Here Andy Powers, Michael Lille, Sean Watkins and Sara Masen play a small jam

for us. The 2019 Taylors have a leading role, so I can only show this piece

with a little censor...

<sophisticated acoustic concert>

5:15, dinner time! For the finale we head to The Husk, a really unique restaurant

built inside of a colonial style house. We get thru the porch and the restaurant's own vegetable garden

to reach our dependance. After dinner we are meeting again in a hotel's suite

to play the new guitars a little more and to say goodbye.

Tomorrow we're having an exclusive interview with Andy,

you'll see it soon on Accordo.it. We left the last word to him for this video.

The days I spent in Nashville were intense, the experience

was crazy, you can't forget. But it's time to get back home,

so, if you excuse me...

FUUUU....

Oh hey, subscribe if you find this video somewhat useful

and click on the bell to be sure you don't lose any update!

Do you need to read music to play it? | What is Music - Duration: 9:49.

WOMAN: Do you need to be able to read music to play it?

The answer is in the question itself.

There are so many people that can't read music that make music.

I wish I could read music. It takes me forever.

I'm like, "Every good boy deserves...fruit!"

OK. F!

It's mostly guitar tabs for me. Yeah.

I mean, it gets the job done.

MAN: Yeah, I know what chords I'm playing, I know the basics.

But often I don't know what key I'm in.

When I was learning the violin,

my teacher would be watching me playing.

I would be pretending to read the music,

but I'd be imitating him,

because I just couldn't read that well.

So he'd be like, "Well done!" (EXHALES)

WOMAN: Rather than having to take a couple of hours

to listen to something played over and over and over again,

it's cool that you can have this piece of paper

and you can turn it into a piece of music.

If you're, like, a classical player, and you can't read music,

then it's a bit of a disability.

I bluffed my way through an entire music degree

without really being able to read that well.

And take it from me, it can be done.

(CLASSICAL MUSIC)

Dan, I think that written sheet music

is actually very scary for a lot of people.

Yeah, I think especially when you're first learning music

it can be huge barrier.

But you don't have to read music in order to play it.

Like, I played music before, I've never learnt how to read it,

and a lot of people that I know that are artists don't read it either.

No, of course not.

And if there's one thing that we've shown on this show

it's that music is for everyone, regardless of ability or training.

I mean, we even asked an expert,

"Do you need to be able to read music in order to play it?"

No.

Well, that's it then. That is the episode.

Please go ahead and play music, whether or not you can read it.

Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa...

I think there's still a lot of merit to being able to read music.

Yeah, I guess.

It's safe to assume that for as long as humans have been around,

music has been around as well.

But what about musical notation?

Some say the earliest fragment of musical notation was found

on a 4000-year-old Sumerian clay tablet,

composed in cuneiform by ancient Hurrians.

But the earliest complete score archaeologists have found

is the Seikilos Epitaph,

with lyrics and melody written in ancient Greek musical notation,

dated to around 100AD.

But how did we get from that, to this?

Let's go to ninth century Europe,

where churches are notating chants and songs.

This form of musical notation is called a neume.

As you've noticed, they don't actually tell you what note to sing,

but only indicate whether the pitch of the note rises or falls.

It's not the easiest thing to read,

and so later on, a monk called Guido of Arezzo

tries to make life easier for everyone.

Guido helps create this thing, the staff.

No, it's not a stick to smack young singers over the head with,

if they get it wrong.

It's actually system where notes would be placed

across four lines and spaces -

a more accurate way of displaying pitch.

Speaking of, he also invented solfege,

which we know nowadays as,

do, re, mi, fa...and so on.

# Do # Re

# Mi # Fa

# So # La

# Ti # Do #

But a staff doesn't tell you how long to hold these notes.

So in the early 13th century, mensural notation developed.

And, as it evolved, notes had more precise rhythmic durations.

Then another line was added at some stage.

A few more other things happened, and voila.

By the 17th century, you begin to get scores

that are starting to look a lot like

the sheet music we commonly have today.

But now, this is only western sheet music.

If we take a sidestep to China or Japan,

there are completely different systems of notation,

using characters and numbers to represent music.

Then you have new modern shorthand systems, like guitar tabs,

figured bass, and chord charts.

And technology can also house notation.

If you use any software like ProTools, GarageBand,

Ableton, The Grid and MidiSystems can all count

as musical notation.

Basically notation is just a visual representation of music.

MAN: We've spent over a thousand years

working out how to write down something

which is incredibly abstract.

You know, music is sound passing through time.

You can't really explain a piece of music

by talking about it in words.

It's much better to listen to it.

But if you want to transmit that to someone,

and there is more than you can simply sing to them

and get to sing back to you,

then you need to write it down.

And that communicates how to make that piece of music

without necessarily having to go and learn it from someone.

So clearly, written music is way more complex and inclusive than we think.

Absolutely.

And also music notation evolves with technology and instruments

and also necessity.

Making music is one of the great joys of being human.

But for people with vision impairment,

there are some fundamental challenges.

Based in Melbourne, the Statewide Vision Resource Centre

is tackling these challenges

with one of the oldest tricks in the book - braille.

So why is it important to get kids who can't see or have reduced vision

to engage with braille music?

The question I'd throw back at you is

why would you teach print music notation to anyone?

Print music is a way of being able to represent music

that somebody else has composed.

You can also understand the dynamics and what the nuances of music are

if you're reading the details of the music.

What's a crescendo?

Those sorts of pieces of information are right throughout music.

So the braille cell is a set of six possible dots that could be raised.

The top four in braille music are the ones

that show you what note is being played,

and the bottom two dots are the ones that show you

how long you play them for.

I'll just put a C crotchet over here.

If this dot preceding a C crotchet is raised,

that tells you that you're in the fourth octave.

It's a really super code, and you can write crescendo,

and you can write decrescendo.

Anything you can see in your print gets represented in the braille.

If you cannot see, the only way you can find out about stuff

is by touching.

So these kids look with their fingers.

How do you play rock'n'roll? Well...

You go strum, strum. Yeah, yeah, absolutely.

I like to get the kids to hear music

and to touch the instruments that are making the music.

And then they can go away understanding what it is

that makes those sounds that come through their radio.

Braille music has helped Jordie Howell find a career in music,

and a really successful one, at that.

JORDIE HOWELL: I've used braille music all my life.

I sing as a soloist for oratorios and as a chorister

so I use it to keep track of my own part,

and to keep bars rest when I'm not singing.

I also teach and use it to read the music for my students.

And so what does braille music give you

that recordings and just copying off recordings doesn't?

It gives me dynamics, articulation, staccatos,

accents, tenutos, louds and softs.

It gives me the ability to be independent,

rather than learning by rote

what someone else's interpretation of something is.

I can interpret, rather than just learning from a recording,

and that may not be quite accurate.

It also gives me the ability

to learn something at the last minute, sometimes. (LAUGHS)

Whereas if I was learning by rote,

I would need more time to prepare and to learn.

I can turn up to a rehearsal, and although it's not ideal,

if there's a music score that's been given to me at the last minute,

I can read it along with my sighted choristers.

I can certainly participate fully in that way

in a mainstream setting.

(PLAYS NOTES) Oh, yeah!

OK, I am inspired!

I am ready to learn how to read music.

How hard is this going to be?

Oh, not super hard, because luckily,

I've just prepared a short video to show you how to read music.

OK, so you've got the staff with five lines.

Notes alternate on the lines and spaces -

going up the pitch is higher, going down is lower.

The symbol at the beginning is a clef,

and that tells you what notes the lines represent.

This is a C on the treble clef.

This is the same C on the bass clef.

Basically, different instruments have different clefs,

depending on how it's pitched.

The piano is one of the very few instruments that have both clefs

because it has heaps of notes.

From left to right is time.

This is the time signature.

It tells you how many beats are in a bar.

And these lines are bars.

A key signature tells you what key to play in,

and if you need to play certain notes as flats or sharps.

The way the note looks tells you how long to play it for.

This is a whole note.

Half notes are half the length of whole notes.

Quarter, eighth, and so on.

These have weird names, as well.

Crotchets, quavers, semiquavers, demiquavers, demisemiquavers.

Oh, and these are the rests.

It means you don't play anything.

They correspond to the same note values.

And usually there's a tempo marking at the top

to tell you how fast or slow to play.

Andante, allegro con spirito,

and then there are lots of other words

that add details and expression.

P means quiet and F means loud.

Most of these expressions

come from Italian,

so it's OK

if you mistake them for pasta.

Alright, Linda, do you feel confident now?

Yeah, so ready. Yeah.

I know the basics, kind of. Yeah.

Yeah. Yeah.

Well, look, we prepared this earlier for you.

This is the What Is Music theme written out for bass guitar.

The first thing you'll want to do is turn it up like this.

OK. Yes, I knew that. Yep, yep, great.

Alright, it's time to have a go.

Here's the bass. OK.

Hold on. So C, G, A, C. Mm-hm.

So even though I knew the basics,

it took me a long time to actually transfer what was on the page

to what was happening with my hands.

Open. Yep. Yep.

(PLAYS NOTES) Yep.

And that one.

(PLAYS NOTES)

That's it! That's it. You, too, can be this good.

(LAUGHS)

You little...you little shit!

Music Alters My Gym Mindset | Brian DeCosta: Build Your Body - Duration: 2:42.

(upbeat electronic music)

- [Narrator] Music has always been a huge,

huge outlet for me.

It's similar to fitness and body building.

It's like creative expression,

being able to create something from scratch

or present something to somebody

whether it's sound, whether it's your physical appearance,

being able to look in the mirror and be like,

"How do I want to present myself on stage?"

That takes a creative eye,

aside from just "Oh, you have low body fat."

Listening to music definitely alters

my mind state in the gym.

They match with each other.

There's nothing like when a song that you love

or a song that has heavy bass

or if it's electronic music like a drop that comes on

when you're doing squats to push you over that edge.

Fitness, for me, means discipline,

and not just physical discipline.

Mental fitness, spiritual fitness.

I think it's just acknowledging

that we have to do things to get better,

and that's really what fitness is.

It's a sharpness of mind

and dedicating ourselves to our goals.

With music, similar to the gym, I like shutting the door,

turning on a song, and really just losing myself.

When it's not a part of my weekly routine, I feel off.

It has to be something that I fit in

and once I do, I'm just more at ease.

I wouldn't say building my body is easy now,

but I would say it's definitely easier

that what it's been in the past.

I've been in the gym training for eight, nine years now,

and it's just a matter of forming those habits,

but it always requires just a certain level

of discipline every day.

Exercise in general became an escape for me

because it was a place where I could go where I didn't have

any of the day's obligations weighing me down,

I didn't have to focus on school,

I didn't have to focus on anything else.

You go to the gym,

and all you have to do is execute on the exercise,

and I quickly realized these benefits I'm seeing in the gym,

they're positively impacting my relationship with my family,

with my friends in school, and I was like,

"This is more than just the gym."

Something so simple affected everything else.

I build my body so I can be sure I'm leading my optimal life

inside the gym, outside the gym,

and also showing others that it is possible

to create the body that they want and the body

that's going to help them with their optimal life.
