Antonio Rudiger reveals the racist hell he faced in Italy as Chelsea star admits he 'felt alone'

ANTONIO RUDIGER faced sickening racism in Italy and admits: "You feel alone. Chelsea's £31million signing is getting ready for life in the Premier League and had a rollercoaster journey to get to Stamford Bridge.

Antonio Rudiger has revealed the racism hell he faced by Lazio fans last season.

The abuse was so bad in one game that the stadium announcer warned fans the game would be abandoned if they didnt stop. The 24-year-old could have joined a year ago before a knee injury struck during international duty with Germany.

It meant one more season at Roma where he got to grips with the likes of Gonzalo Higuain and Mauro Icardi — and also the racist thugs in the stands.

Centre-back Rudiger was targeted with monkey chants when Roma faced city rivals Lazio in the Coppa Italia semi-final last season.

The abuse was so bad in the first half at the Stadio Olimpico that the announcer warned the Lazio fans the match would be interrupted if it continued. The chanting died down after the threat.

But, sitting in Chelsea's team hotel in Singapore, Rudiger described exactly how he felt to be subjected to the racist abuse. He said: "You feel alone. I can keep my focus but people love to say 'stay calm' or 'don't do anything'.

"It is easy for you to say those things when you are not black and you never feel what it is like.

Rudiger in action during that Copa Italia game in March. "You cannot put yourself in my position of how that feels.

"In that moment, it is like this: You are alone. "You have to be strong. But each human is different. Someone takes it and doesn't react. I can understand both.".

Despite the abuse, Rudiger insists he does not regret his time in Serie A but wants the authorities to take firmer action against offenders.

He added: "I just want justice. I want Fifa or the FA in Italy to suspend those people who do that. "Those people need to be banned from the stadium or fined.

"It is not all the people in Italy who are like that. If we always talk about racism in Italy, people think that all Italians are racist people and it is not like that.".

Rudiger wants firmer action taken against fans who racially abuse players. Germany is proud of its diverse football team and Rudiger could have played for Sierra Leone through his mother.

His route to the Premier League started by playing football on the Berlin streets. Rudiger's half-brother Sahr Senesie, who played for Borussia Dortmund, was his mentor and the Chelsea star still leans on him for advice.

He said: "He speaks about what he experienced and for me that was a big, big help. It is always good if you have someone in your family who experienced something so he can speak to you in a different way.

"We didn't live together but we speak on the phone and talk. Not only about football. There is more in life than just football.".

Despite being a massive fan of Thierry Henry, it became clear that Rudiger was destined to be a defender.

The defender starred as Germany won the Confederations Cup earlier this summer. He said: "I started off as a striker but that changed at the age of 16. Before I was not a tall guy.

"So I used to play on the wings or as a striker, then at the age of 16 I started growing and the coach decided to let me play in defence.

"Compared to then, there are different types of strikers now. Strong strikers, fast strikers, technical guys. And 6ft 3in Rudiger found he was capable of stopping them all, leading to his breakthrough at Stuttgart.

His loan at Roma turned into a permanent deal but Chelsea have always been in the background and may have got him a year ago before his knee injury. He said: "The injury could have been the biggest moment of my career.

"But I believe in God and everything has its time. So one year later I won the Confederations Cup and I am at Chelsea. "Of course, at that moment it was sad.

"I knew then I had to work to get stronger. And this is what happened. "I always wanted to play in the Premier League and it is now years since my name was first linked to Chelsea.

"Everything bides its time. It wasn't the right moment and now I am here.".

The £31million centre-back is looking forward to testing himself against the best in England. Now he is ready to prove himself in the Premier League as Chelsea attempt to defend their title.

He said: "I have not experienced the Premier League yet but the Italian league is more tactical. You don't have these open games. "And in England this is different. Both teams are attacking the whole time.

"That is the main two differences between the two leagues. And of course the physical aspect in England. "You need to prepare for a physical game.

"There are a lot strikers — Jamie Vardy, [Romelu] Lukaku — where you look at them and it is a challenge. The whole league is a challenge.".

Rudiger discussed his journey to Chelsea — and how happy he was to complete his move — but also has his initiation song on his mind.

He said: "I'm not nervous now but later, standing in front of everyone while they are looking and watching?. "Then maybe I'll be a little nervous. But I think I'll make a good performance.".

Man Utd transfer boost as Juventus opt to chase Blaise Matuidi over Nemanja Matic - Duration: 1:49.

Man Utd transfer boost as Juventus opt to chase Blaise Matuidi over Nemanja Matic

Juventus have been willing to rival United for Matic's signature throughout the summer, with Chelsea seemingly willing

to part with the Serbian after signing Tiemoue Bakayoko.

The Blues would rather sell Matic to a club abroad but the Independent is reporting that Matic's preferred destination

would be United for a reunion with old boss Jose Mourinho.

And that has led to Juventus considering other targets and the Old Lady have moved PSG's Matuidi to the top of their transfer wish-list over Matic.

The Serie A champions tried to sign Matuidi last summer but complications in negotiations saw PSG retain the 30-year-old,

but with the French outfit looking to update their squad after failing to win the title Juventus are confident of getting their man.

With Juventus now chasing Matuidi instead of Matic the Red Devils are now the only side in the race to buy the 28-year-old from Chelsea.

Mourinho was the manager who signed Matic back to Chelsea in January 2014 and now the Portuguese boss wants the enforcer to supplement his midfield at Old Trafford.

Chelsea are reportedly prepared to allow Matic to move to one of their top Premier League rivals for a £50 million fee.

MANCHESTER UNITED stars continue their gruelling pre-season by jetting out to Norway. The Red Devils only returned from their US tour on Thursday after friendlies against Manchester City, Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Marouane Fellaini wears flip flops to travel to cloudy Oslo today.

Romelu Lukaku and close pal Paul Pogba look tired as they walk through Manchester airport. Now, Jose Mourinho leads his squad through the airport as they prepare to fly out to Oslo.

United play Norways Valerenga today and Serie A side Sampdoria in Dublin on Wednesday to conclude their pre-season fixtures.

Marouane Fellaini, who has reportedly agreed terms to join Galatasaray, has chosen to wear flip flops for the trip – despite the Norwegian capital being just 19 degrees and cloudy today.

Manchester United captain Michael Carrick makes his way into the airport alongside Daley Blind and Phil Jones. Romelu Lukaku walks alongside close pal Paul Pogba, who helped convince him to join Old Trafford this summer in a £75million deal.

Club captain Michael Carrick, utility man Daley Blind and centre-back Phil Jones look relaxed on their way into the airport. As do Spanish midfielders Ander Herrera and Juan Mata, both in complete United tracksuits.

Mourinho himself looks slightly anxious as he is accompanied by security on his way into Manchester airport. The United boss may be worried he is losing out on top transfer targets this summer.

Jose Mourinho looks anxious as he is accompanied by security on his way to Manchester airport.

It could be back to the drawing board for Manchester United with Ivan Perisic looking unlikely to join this summer. A move for Inter Milans Ivan Perisic looks more unlikely by the day.

Inter manager Luciano Spalletti yesterday said: There was something you already know about at the beginning of the window [but] there was no follow-up and so, for me, the topic is over.

I will strongly oppose the sale of Perisic if an offer comes. It could be back to the drawing board for Mourinho, with just two weeks until the new Premier League campaign starts.

Liverpool FC Transfer News & Rumour Roundup - Youngsters linked as Reds bow out of Keita race - Duration: 5:23.

Liverpool FC Transfer News & Rumour Roundup - Youngsters linked as Reds bow out of Keita race

We round up the weekend's Liverpool transfer news and rumours, including further speculation over the future of Philippe Coutinho at Anfield.

The Reds rounded off a productive week in Germany with a 3-0 victory away to Hertha Berlin on Saturday, with Coutinho taking a starring role in midfield.

With the Brazilian substituted midway through the second half, this display did nothing to halt the rumour mill, as Liverpool's busy summer continues. Here's the latest transfer news and rumours involving Jurgen Klopp's side. Coutinho 'Agrees 5-Year Deal' With Barcelona.

Barcelona's £72 million bid for Philippe Coutinho earlier in July came as a bolt from the blue, despite the Brazilian having long been mooted as a target.

10 has subsequently found himself embroiled in a media struggle, as reports from England to claim Liverpool won't sell at any price, while the Spanish press argue the contrary.

Most recently, Sport have suggested that Coutinho has already finalised personal terms with Barcelona, saying "there was no problem in agreeing a five-year contract.

They also claim that, while Barcelona are only willing to increase their offer to £76 million, "Coutinho's predisposition will do the rest.

Whether this is designed to unsettle a player touted as a long-term replacement for Andres Iniesta remains to be seen, but this is a story that is unlikely to go away. Klopp Wants Pulisic if Coutinho Leaves.

If Coutinho does make the move to the Nou Camp this summer, Klopp is rumoured to have already earmarked his replacement.

According to the Mirror, the Brazilian will "plead" with Klopp to sanction his departure just seven months after he signed a new deal with the Reds.

If the 25-year-old is successful, Klopp is said to be set to pursue Borussia Dortmund youngster Christian Pulisic.

Pulisic was the subject of a failed bid from Liverpool last summer, with Klopp's former side swiftly knocking back an £11 million offer for the United States international.

He went on to sign a new long-term contract with Dortmund in January, presenting a major red flag if the Reds were to revive their interest. Keita "100 Percent" to Stay at Leipzig.

As optimism turns to gloom at this crucial stage of the transfer window, the Coutinho saga has served as a miserable segue to the conclusion of Liverpool's failed pursuit of Naby Keita.

Despite the midfielder's best efforts at forcing through a move from RB Leipzig, the Reds have since pulled out of the race to sign Keita.

And speaking after Leipzig's 1-0 loss to Sevilla on Saturday, manager Ralph Hasenhuttl stressed that the club were "100 percent" confident of keeping their No.

"The chance [of Keita leaving] is zero. It's 100 percent clear that Naby will play this year at Leipzig," he told reporters.

"At the beginning of the transfer window we said we'll start with the same team, and with all the main players we had last year and that no one will go. That will be our answer now also.".

Reds Linked With 2 Youngsters.

Despite currently finding themselves subject to an academy transfer ban, Liverpool continue to be linked with moves for Europe's finest youth talent.

According to Belgian publication Nieuwsblad, one such player is Inter Milan midfielder Zinho Vanheusden, with the Reds joining Southampton in making an enquiry for the 18-year-old.

Meanwhile, the Guardian name Liverpool among four top Premier League sides interested in signing Feyenoord teenager Melayro Bogarde.

The centre-back, nephew of ex-Ajax defender Winston Bogarde, would be available on his 16th birthday next May, with Man United, Man City and Chelsea vying with the Reds.

The second year of Liverpool's transfer ban will be suspended, ensuring they can sign youth players again next summer.

Arsenal transfer news: Arsenal suffer transfer setback as arch rivals Tottenham join race for Mahrez - Duration: 2:51.

Arsenal suffer transfer setback as arch rivals Tottenham join race for Riyad Mahrez

Spurs are the only Premier League club not to make a signing during this transfer window so far. But they have made an enquiry for playmaker Riyad Mahrez, who wants to quit the Foxes.

Roma have had two bids rejected and have said that they won't be making a third, leaving the door open for Spurs.

But Arsenal are also keen on the 2016 PFA Player of the Year and they will make a move if Monaco refuse to sell them Thomas Lemar.

Leicester have put a £50million price-tag on Mahrez, who wants to quit the former Premier League champions to play in the Champions League.

He would get that at White Hart Lane, after Spurs finished runners-up last season, but would have to wait to dine at Europes top table with Arsenal.

Mahrez scored 10 goals and provided seven assists as Leicester recovered from a dreadful start to survive the drop last season. The Algerian international released a statement in May declaring that he wants out.

He said: Out of the huge admiration and respect I hold for Leicester I wanted to be totally honest and transparent.   I have informed the club that I feel now is the time for me to move on.

I had a good discussion with the chairman last summer and we agreed at that time that I would stay for another year in order to help the club as best as I could following the transition of winning the title and in the Champions League.

Ive had the four best seasons of my career at Leicester and have loved every moment. I feel immense pride to have been a part of what we have achieved during my time at the club, culminating in becoming Premier League champions.

The relationship I share with the club and our amazing fans are something I will treasure forever and I truly hope they will understand and respect my decision..

Arsenal 5 Benfica 2: Theo Walcott bags a brace as the Gunners run riot at the Emirates… but their defence still looks fragile

ALEXIS SANCHEZ may be dominating the headlines – but it was Theo Walcott and Sead Kolasinac who stole the show as the Gunners ran riot at the Emirates.

As the wantaway Chilean nurses his illness, he would have watched Walcott score twice and assist Arsenals third in their penultimate game before facing Chelsea in the Community Shield. Theo Walcott lashes home Arsenals equaliser and his first of the night.

Arsenals fragile defence proved their downfall yet again. Olivier Giroud then proved to £52million signing Alexandre Lacazette that he is not willing to give up his role as the main striker with a tidy finish to score the Gunners fourth.

But for all of Arsenals slick movement going forward, Arsene Wengers defence looked as fragile as ever. The one shining light was new signing Kolasinac who showed bags of energy in his left wing-back role.

The Bosnian, who signed on a free transfer, could prove to be the bargain of the summer after playing a role in three of Arsenals goals.

But their makeshift first-half defence of which included Per Mertesacker, Rob Holding and Ainsley Maitland-Niles was carved open after just 11 minutes.

Franco Servi found too much space in the area and his low shot went through the gangly legs of Mertesacker and into the net.

Arsenal celebrate Theo Walcotts goal to bring the Gunners back into the game.

Olivier Giroud fired home Arsenals fourth with a neat finish.

Olivier Giroud is not willing to give up his place to new signing Alexandre Lacazette.

Sead Kolasinac was sensational in his left wing-back role.

Lisandro Lopez scored an own goal following a low cross by Theo Walcott.

Alexandre Lacazette got the loudest cheer of the night when he came on.   Rob Holding, Alexis Sanchez and Alexandre Lacazette: How Arsene Wenger will set up Arsenal this season.

Walcott lashed home the equaliser when he met Kolasanics chipped cross. The England winger, sporting a questionable new haircut, then doubled his tally with the easiest of finishes eight minutes later.

Wenger was left furious with his sides defending when Eduardo Salvio levelled the tie. A horrible error by Holding, who was replaced at half-time by Calum Chambers, allowed Benfica to break before Salvios deflected strike beat David Ospina.

With the scores level at the interval, Arsenal put Benfica to the sword in the second half with Giroud, Alex Iwobi and a Lisandro Lopez own goal adding to the scoreline.

Deal close? Fans go into meltdown as Nemanja Matic is pictured in Man Utd training kit

Manchester United fans are getting very excited about a potentially imminent third summer signing after a picture of long-time target Nemanja Matic in the club's training kit appeared online.

The legitimacy of the picture is up for debate, with some fans assuming that Matic's face had simply been super imposed on Bastian Schweinsteiger's body, given that the number on the kit was 31.

However, the kit Matic is seen in is the brand new training gear which Schweinsteiger, who moved to MLS in January, never would have worn, let alone be pictured in.

If the picture does show Matic, that suggests a deal for the Serbian is far further down the line than many had realised, even considering the fresh reports that the transfer was close.

It emerged over the weekend that United were hopeful of having Matic wrapped up in the coming days and in the squad in time for the UEFA Super Cup, though by the looks of things he may even have had his medical already.

Chelsea have finally relented on allowing him to move to a Premier League rival, though that decision was aided by Juventus' reluctance to match United's £40 million offer.

Jose Mourinho has made no secret of his desire to sign a new central midfielder this summer to bring balance to the team and has been keen to reunite with a player who he brought to Stamford Bridge from Benfica.

Since then, Matic has been a mainstay in two Premier League-winning teams, first under Mourinho and then under Antonio Conte.

And the latest leak has got United fans every excited about seeing their new man in action, while there has been a mixed reaction from Chelsea supporters…

WW3 looms as US considers 'military response' to North Korea missile test - north korean leader - Duration: 5:17.

WW3 looms as US considers 'military response' to North Korea missile test

The Pentagon said that the ICBM flew just 1,000km before it landed in Japans Exclusive Economic Zone, with officals fearing it hit boats.

The ICBM test – the second in weeks – came just 24 hours after a top US general said time is running out to find a diplomatic solution to the North Korea nuclear crisis.

Now it appears Americas patience has run out with three US defence officals discussing military response options, according to Reuters. In an emergency phone call, South Korean President Moon Jae-in called for talks on beefing up defence missiles systems.

General Joseph Dunford and Admiral Harry Harris, head of US Pacific Command, spoke with South Korean joint chief of staff, General Lee Sun-jin, shortly after the test.

A spokesman for Mr Dunford said: During the call Dunford and Harris expressed the ironclad commitment to the US-Republic of Korea alliance. The three leaders also discussed military response options.

Tonight Yonhap News Agency has reported that the US will stage a joint ballistic missile exercise in response to North Koreas ICBM launch.

The launch happened 11. 41pm local time (3. 11pm UK) and lasted 45 minutes. The Pentagon confirmed it has detected what it assesses was a ballistic missile launch.

Initially it was thought the missile travelled more than 3,000km – the distance between North Korea and US territory.

But a statement from the Pentagon later confirmed that the missile – thought to be capable of reaching US shores – was onlt fired 1,000km.

Japan have slammed the test as a clear violation of UN resolutions, confirming the missile landed in its waters. https://www. dailystar. uk/news/latest-news/633393/north-korea-fire-missile-us-military-response#.

Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said the threat is grave and real as he prepared to hold an emergency summit with his ministers. The countrys chief cabinet secretary has said Japan absolutely cannot tolerate North Koreas repeated provocations.

US Pentagon spokesman Navy Captain Jeff Davis said: "I can confirm that we detected a launch of a ballistic missile from North Korea. "We are assessing and will have more information soon.

The South Korean president has ordered an emergency security meeting following the Norths 14th missile test this year. Fears of an imminent test has been heightened in recent days after the dictator hadnt been seen for 15 days.

But yesterday Kim came out of hiding to visit a cemetary and mark the 64th anniversary of the end of the Korean war. One theory suggested the test was due to take place yesterday, but was postponed due to rain.

Pyongyang successfully tested an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) for the first time on July 4 – American Independence Day.

That test was the latest in a series conducted in defiance of a United Nations ban, with experts saying it could reach Alaska.

Later it was suggested an even further developed missile could wipe out the likes of Los Angeles and Las Vegas.

The Hermit Kingdom has become notorious for marking key events in its history with missile launches or threats of a new world war.

The most recent warning was issued by one of Kim Jong-un's key generals, who called on the Norths military to "wage dynamic struggle to bring final victory".

Inter Milan demand Anthony Martial on loan as part of £45million Manchester United deal for - Duration: 3:53.

Inter Milan demand Anthony Martial on loan as part of £45million Manchester United deal for winger Ivan Perisic

INTER MILAN have demanded Anthony Martial on loan as part of the £45million deal with Manchester United for Ivan Perisic.

The Serie A giants had wanted the Frenchman on a permanent basis, but will reportedly settle for a loan in the pending deal involving the Croatian. Inter Milan want Anthony Martial on loan as part of the Ivan Perisic deal.

Ivan Perisic has long been on the radar of Man United, but a deal is yet to be struck.

The talks between Inter and United have stalled somewhat this summer as the clubs are still some way apart in their valuation of Perisic, 28.

However, Old Trafford chief Jose Mourinho may be willing to part with Martial, who has failed to fully settle in Manchester, according to the Daily Mirror.

And the Red Devils boss insists the club will not pay over the odds for their remaining transfer targets.

United are reluctant to sell fan-favourite Martial, 21, and the player himself does not want to leave Old Trafford, but could be convinced into a year away. The France star's cousin revealed Inter were interested in signing Martial, earlier this month.

It is believed United considered the idea of using Matteo Darmian as a player plus cash deal for Perisic – but rate Martial too highly to let him go.

Jose Mourinho is reluctant to sell Anthony Martial while the player does not want to leave.

Man United are desperate to bring in Ivan Perisic before the window slams shut. The striker joined United in a £36m deal – which can still rise to £58m – from Monaco in September 2015 while he was just 19.

He lost his place as a regular starter last term but still scored eight goals in all competitions for United playing predominantly as a winger. Mourinho warned Martial in January that he must improve and fight for his spot in the team.

Inter Milan have demanded Anthony Martial as part of any deal for Ivan Perisic.

Manchester United have hit a standstill in their pursuit of Ivan Perisic. In April, he hailed the youngster as "a new player" and insisted he has what it takes to become "very special" after his performance against Anderlecht in the Europa League.

Mourinho hopes to bring in two new faces before the window shuts on August 31. Croatia winger Perisic is one, while Tottenham defensive midfielder Eric Dier, 23, is another, although Spurs value him at £50m.

Joy as kidnapped students arrive Lagos, meet parents

Joy as kidnapped students arrive Lagos, meet parents Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr.

(Mrs) Oluranti Adebule (3rd left); Ondo State Governor, Mr Rotimi Akeredolu (right); his Deputy, Mr Alfred Agboola (2nd right) with the released Igbonla Model College students and their parents during a media briefing at the Round House, the Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja on Friday, July 28, 2017.

The kidnapped students of Lagos State Model College, Igbonla, on Friday arrived Lagos from Ondo State after their release from the kidnappers' den. The students arrived at the Deputy Governors office, Lagos State Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja, around 9 p.m.

Some of their apparently overjoyed parents could not hide their excitement upon seeing the students who had been in captivity since May 25. PREMIUM TIMES had earlier reported how the release of the kids was secured in Ondo State.

The students are Peter Jonah, Isiaq Rahmon, Adebayo George, Judah Agbausi, Pelumi Philips and Farouq Yusuf. Speaking with PREMIUM TIMES, the mother of Peter Jonah said she was thankful that her son came back from the abductors' den unhurt.

"I am very grateful; that my son stayed with them for that long and finally our pain is over… I am very grateful to God," she said.

About twenty suspected kidnappers of the pupils were killed in gun duels with security operatives in the events leading to the release of the pupils on Friday, the police said.

Shortly after their release, PREMIUM TIMES had reported that the pupils were on their way to Lagos. Our correspondent learnt that the pupils were expected to have arrived earlier but they were delayed by traffic on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

While receiving the students, the Lagos State Deputy Governor, Idiat Adebule, said the state government would intensify security in public schools before the next term begins.

"We plan to have comprehensive medical check-up on the children and they will be debriefed in collaboration with other stakeholders.

We are going back to the drawing board to ensure that all that needs to be done in terms of security before the resumption of schools is done," she said.

The Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, who was instrumental to the release of the boys, noted that combined efforts of the South-West governors and security agencies led to the release of the pupils.

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, said 20 members of the gang involved in the abduction of the pupils were killed in gun duels with security operatives, adding that two of them were kingpins named as Bright Adeniyi and Oniwe Iyelabo, aka America.

America and two others were killed on July 18 when they attempted to invade a marine police post. The suspect that swindled the parents has been arrested," he said.

There were reports that ransom were paid to secure the release of the boys but the police chief did not dwell on that.

The Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Steve Ayorinde, on Friday congratulated the parents of the pupils for the release of their kids.

He, however, reiterated the position of the state government that the students would undergo medical tests and trauma therapy before they are allowed to return to their families.

Speaking with PREMIUM TIMES Friday night, a relative to one of the kids who craved anonymity, said the parents had been anguished for a long time. "This is a welcome development, our sorrows are no more.

We are happy," she told PREMIUM TIMES in Lagos.   Journalists were, however, prevented from speaking with the students.

But a statement from the Pentagon later confirmed that the missile – thought to be capable of reaching US shores – was onlt fired 1,000km.  Japan have slammed the test as a clear violation of UN resolutions, confirming the missile landed in its waters.

"We are assessing and will have more information soon." The South Korean president has ordered an emergency security meeting following the Norths 14th missile test this year.

Fears of an imminent test has been heightened in recent days after the dictator hadnt been seen for 15 days. MAPPED: The missile flew 1,000km into the Sea of Japan.

MILITARY PARADE: North Korea flaunts its nuclear prowess at a parade in Pyongyang.

Man United appear to have signed Nemanja Matic as picture emerges showing Serbian in club colours

A PICTURE appearing to show Nemanja Matic wearing a new Manchester United training top has emerged. SunSport told you earlier United were close to agreeing a £50million deal to sign the Chelsea midfielder.

Nemanja Matic appears to have completed his Manchester United transfer. Reports have since emerged claiming Matic, 28, has undergone a medical at Carrington today.

And a photo of the Serbian wearing a United shirt has fuelled speculation his move is complete. Matic wears the No31 top in the snap – formerly worn by Bastian Schweinsteiger.

He has already agreed terms to make the Old Trafford switch. Matic sat out Chelseas pre-season tour of China and Singapore – alongside Diego Costa – in an attempt to seal his Stamford Bridge exit.

Jose Mourinho has been desperate to bring in a new defensive midfielder, with former Blues signing Matic a top target.

Nemanja Matic factfile Born in Sabac, Serbia, in August, 1988. He began his career aged five at Vrelo, where he was coached by his father, just 500m from his house.

In 2005 he signed for Serbian club Kolubara, and then moved to Slovakian side Kosice in 2007. He spent time on trial at Middlesbrough before Chelsea beat Sunderland and Tottenham to sign him in August 2009 for £1.5million.

After two first team games, Chelsea sent him on loan to Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem. In January 2011 Matic was sold to Benfica along with £21million in exchange for Brazil defender David Luiz.

He flourished at Benfica, was named Portuguese Player of the Year and reached the Europa League final, where they were beaten by Chelsea.

In January 2014, Chelsea, under manager Jose Mourinho, signed him back for £21million, and he made his second Chelsea debut against Man Utd.

He has won two Premier League titles in three seasons at Chelsea, and last season played 40 games, scoring twice including a stunning strike in the FA Cup semi-final against Tottenham.

It left him with a clear path to resign his former player. Matic joined Chelsea from Serbian club Kosice in 2009 for £1.

He was sold to Benfica in 2011 and resigned by the Blues – under Mourinho – for £22m in 2014.

Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini 'agrees terms' with Galatasaray as Turkish giants confirm they are in talks over Belgian

GALATASARAY have confirmed they are in talks to sign Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini. And, according to reports in Turkey,  the Belgian has already agreed personal terms with the Turkish giants. Fellaini has emerged as a key target for the Turkish giants.

Gala boss Igor Tudor is edging closer to sealing the deal for the Belgian midfielder. United have been linked with a £50million move for Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic this summer.

But it has been suggested Old Trafford boss Jose Mourinho was keen to offload Fellaini before sealing a reunion with the Serbian. And Galatasarays sporting director Cenk Ergun has revealed that they want Fellaini.

Speaking to Ajansspor, he said: We have a surprise name for a position. We have had talks with Marouane Fellaini. We need a player like Fellaini who can shuttle around in midfield. We have made an approach, we are close.

United boss Mourinho has identified Matic as a potential replacement for Fellaini at Old Trafford. Fellaini, 29, joined United from Everton in a £27. 5m deal in 2013.

He has had an up-and-down spell with the Red Devils but became an important squad player under Mourinho last season, making 39 appearances in all comptitions.

The Belgian midfielder is renowned for his aggressive style of play.   Man United star Marouane Fellaini is sent off for crazy headbutt.

Matic to Man Utd deal held up as Chelsea squabble with rivals over bonus clauses on £50m fee - Duration: 2:32.

Matic to Man Utd deal held up as Chelsea squabble with rivals over bonus clauses on £50m fee

NEMANJA MATIC'S planned £50million Manchester United move has been delayed by a squabble over bonus payments. It is believed the Chelsea midfielder has already agreed terms to make the switch to Old Trafford.

Nemanja Matics deal to Manchester United is being held up over add-ons.

Chelsea want clauses to be included based on performance and appearances.

But the deal will not go through until the clubs can agree on extra payments United will have to make to the Premier League champions, based on their results and the number of games played by the Serbia international.

United boss Jose Mourinho is a big fan of the 28-year-old from their days working together at Stamford Bridge and wants him as his holding midfielder.

Matic was left out of Chelsea's pre-season tour of Asia and has been working on his fitness at the club's Cobham training ground. United are hopeful the deal will go through this week once final details are ironed out.

Matic was seen training with injured pair Eden Hazard and Pedro last week while the rest of the squad were in Singapore. United had a £35million bid for Matic rejected earlier this summer, with Chelsea imposing a Lukaku tax on the fee.

Matic helped Chelsea win the league last season but will be replaced by Tiemoue Bakayoko.

Chelsea bought the midfielder for £40m from Monaco. Both Antonio Conte and Roman Abramovich signed off on the sale of Matic to their rivals.

The midfielder started 30 Prem games as Chelsea romped to the title last season, but the Blues brought in Tiemoue Bakayoko from Monaco this summer.

#Antonio Conte fears sack as Mourinho and Claudio Ranieri were axed months after winning the title - Duration: 4:31.

Antonio Conte fears sack as Mourinho and Claudio Ranieri were axed months after winning the title

ANTONIO CONTE admits he fears the sack – and making it a HAT-TRICK of axed title-winners.

Jose Mourinho and Claudio Ranieri were dismissed the season after lifting the Premier League – and Conte says his squad are nowhere near ready to defend their crown.

In his first season in the Premier League, Antonio Conte has led Chelsea to the title.

But the Italian fears the sack – the last two Premier League winning managers were gone within months.

The Chelsea boss said: "Two coaches have been sacked from Chelsea and Leicester after winning the league and I want to avoid this and the players want to avoid the bad season they had with Mourinho.

"We know the next season will be tough and we want to avoid what happened in the previous seasons for Chelsea, two years ago the team finished in 10th place in the Premier League.

"We are working very well and we hope to find the best solution in the future. We have a lot of young players and if necessary we will have to try to put these players.".

Two seasons ago, Mourinho was at Chelsea and got the boot seven months after finishing top. Then last season Claudio Ranieri got fired in February despite pulling off one of the greatest triumphs in sport by leading Leicester to the title.

Mourinho even joked last season that the title was a poisoned chalice, insisting: "I think Antonio Conte has to think about whether he wants to be champion this year!".

Jose Mourinho lasted just seven months at Chelsea after winning in 2015.

Claudio Ranieri lasted just nine months after leading Leicester to one of the greatest shocks in football history. But Conte is now fretting over his squad.

The Italian has publicly stated he needs players before the start of the season if Chelsea want to defend their title and compete in the Champions League.

So far they have spent £130million on Alvaro Morata, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Antonio Rudiger, plus Willy Caballero on a free transfer. In yesterday's friendly defeat to Inter Milan he played record-signing Morata as a left-sided forward, with Michy Batshuayi up front.

Chelsea splashed out £65million to sign Real Madrid forward Alvaro Morata.

Tiemoue Bakayoko is another big money arrival at Stamford Bridge.

Antonio Rudiger made his bow against Inter in Singapore. Conte said: "This is a necessity because I haven't other players. "Morata has starting training with us. He has to improve his condition to improve and go quickly in our idea of football.

"He's working very well and from only five days and today he tried to do his best what we asked him to do.

Conte says his players were tired during the 2-1 defeat to Inter, with Stevan Jovetic and Ivan Perisic scoring before Geoffrey Kondogbia's stunning 45-yard lobbed own goal.

Chelsea's Far East tour has included Kenedy damaging the club's reputation in China with his infamous Instagram posts.

And the champs have also lost to Bayern Munich and Inter, with echoes of the season Mourinho was axed when they failed to win a game in normal time and lost to New York Red Bulls and Fiorentina.

Conte said: "We had to play three games with the same players and we are very tired.
