Mantis (Explained in a Minute) | COMIC BOOK UNIVERSITY - Duration: 2:19.

(Laughter) (Drax voice) She just told everyone your deepest, darkest secret!

Hey, Guys, Professor Bill of Comic Book University and I'm going to explain Mantis in about

a minute.

First appearing in Avengers #112 in June, 1973, Mantis was created by Steve Englehart

and Don Heck.

Writer Steve Englehart loved the character so much that he brought her with him for several

cameos in other publishers' comics, like DC, Eclipse, and Image, making her the most

traveled character in comic book history.

Born in Hwe, Vietnam to a Vietnamese mother and a German father, her uncle was a crimelord

in Vietnam who disapproved of the "unnatural" mixed marriage of his sister.

Her uncle burned the house they were hiding in, causing her father's blindness and her

mother's death.

Her father hid her away in a monastery run by a pacifist group of the alien Kree, calling

themselves the Priests of Pama.

These Kree priests were the caretakers of the Cotati, a race of sentient, telepathic

plant-beings.

The priests separated her from her father, who exhibited violent tendencies and eventually

joined the villainous group "Zodiac" under the name of Libra.

They raised the girl and taught her their peaceful version of the martial arts, eventually

giving her the name Mantis, due to her propensity for defeating male opponents.

They also taught her the telepathic language of the Cotati.

The priests believed that Mantis may be the prophesized "Celestial Madonna", the being

who would mate with the eldest Cotati, bearing the "Celestial Messiah"; a perfect being

who would one day change the universe.

She did mate and bear this child, named Sequoia, who she is now raising; trying to keep his

identity secret until he matures in both age and power to fulfill his destiny.

Mantis is a martial artist of exceptional abilities, able to fell opponents much larger

than herself, including Thor.

Her telepathic abilities with plant-life also affords her empathetic abilities with other

sentient beings, like humans; much like Deanna Troi from Star Trek.

Her unique physiology makes her immune to mental and magical attacks and allows her

to photosynthesize (accelerating her healing and regenerative abilities), freeing her from

the need of mundane forms of sustenance, and allowing her to survive in the vacuum of space.

She has amazing control over plant-life, allowing her to control plants, create simulacra to

fight for her, boil the sap within Groot, or even transfer her consciousness into a

plant in another galaxy, forming herself a new body.

As of the "Annihilation Conquest" event, she has even demonstrated precognitive abilities

to see events in the future.

Stocks on Wall Street closed sharply higher on Tuesday as data revealed U.S. consumer

confidence hit a more than 16-year high.

The U.S. consumer confidence hit 125-point-six in March amid growing optimism in the labor

market.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose by around three-quarters-of-a-percent to 20,701, snapping

an eight-day losing streak.

The S&P 500 gained more than zero-point-seven percent to 2,358,... while the tech-heavy

Nasdaq added zero-point-six percent to 5,875.

Closer to home, President Trump's failure to push through his healthcare agenda has

some local experts concerned that future U.S. fiscal reforms might push the dollar-to-won

exchange rate below eleven-hundred mark in April.

They say there's the possibility the exchange rate could go even lower,... but predicted

its effects on the local bourse would be minimal.

Project EOWR: Launching a "CanSat" Probe with a Water Rocket - Duration: 2:00.

So, back in october 2016, two students reached

out to us, because they needed help with a

graduation project.

The goal was to build a water rocket,

which collects data of the environment, such as

particulate matter, carbon dioxide, humidity and much more.

Luckily, it turned out that the university was pretty close

and so we decided to help.

But we didn't want to build just a water rocket

but something a little bit more challenging...

...and well - that's what we did!

Fine dust levels have gone back down to normal nationwide, thanks to the diffusion of fine

dust particles in the atmosphere.

It was generally clear here in the central region today, but there are heavy clouds hovering

down south.

Also, we can expect foggy conditions in Gangwon-do Province so make sure to be extra careful

on the roads.

The temperature is slightly higher today than yesterday but as you can see we have a temperature

difference of more than 10 degrees from the morning to the evening.

So make sure to dress in layers so you can stay cool during the day and be warm at night.

But enough about today, let's take a look at the readings for tomorrow.

Most regions will wake up to another chilly morning, with Seoul getting up to 4 degrees

Cesius,... while Daegu and Busan start the day at 6 and 9 degrees.

But the highs are expected to be warmer than today, with Seoul topping out at 16 degrees...

The splinter conservative Bareun Party picked Yoo Seong-min as its presidential nominee...

at a party convention Tuesday afternoon.

The decision was made by combining the results of a spot poll taken the same day... on some

27-hundred delegates from across the country,... with the outcome of a public poll and a members'

poll taken in previous weeks.

Representative Yoo -- who was once the floor leader of the now-defunct Saenuri Party -- prevailed

over Gyeonggi-do Governor Nam Kyung-pil,... taking more than 62 percent of the votes.

The Bareun Party broke away from Saenuri,... which has since changed its name to the Liberty

Korea Party,... late last year,... after a series of internal feuds among various factions.

The 59-year old nominee says he will focus in particular on strengthening a transparent

and fair market economy... using his economic expertise.

"I will find a solution for the economic crisis and get the nation out of the slump of low-growth."

"The Bareun Party and the Justice Party are the only two parties to have settled on their

nominees, but the Liberty Korea Party is next in line.

It's planning to choose its nominee on Friday.

The Flag Got Stuck Under His Tail! - Duration: 0:58.

Hi Everybody, fun little clip here just showing some flag work that I was doing on a horse

and he's pretty nervous about this flag so there's a lot of work that kind of needs to

be done, but one of the things he did was that he would pinch his tail down a lot when

I would play around near his butt.

At one point during this session that I did, he pinched it down so tight that he just took

the flag away from me and got himself all worried and he was all tucking in underneath

there and his ears are back and all kinds of stuff, so I just tried to reassure him

and stay calm myself and just waited.

These kinds of things it's just a waiting process, you could go back there and try and

get it but it's better if he just gets it out on his own, which he did so I just go

pick it up and start all over again, just keep on going with the same exercises.
