Renovating Mature Fruit Trees - Part 1 - Duration: 4:25.

Do you have an old, neglected fruit tree in your

yard and you're not sure what to do with

it? Well here's the good news, you can

renovate it and start enjoying that

heirloom fruit again, I'll show you how.

Before you begin you'll need to decide

if the tree is worth saving. Does it

produce fruit that you enjoyed using or

would it be better to replace it with

another variety. Does it have a sound

trunk that is free from rot? Is it

plagued by fire blight scab or other

diseases. If you're tree is hollow or

severely diseased renovating it won't

help it live much longer. The major

pruning involved in restoration could

stress it to the point of killing it, or

if successful can result in the now

heavy fruit load breaking unsound

branches. Keeping a disease or insect

infested tree may also be a risk to

nearby healthy trees. If your tree has

serious problems you may want to just

replace it rather than rejuvenate it. If

it's an heirloom variety that you like

you may want to take some cuttings

before taking the tree down and you can

propagate later. The other consideration

is the type of fruit tree that you want

to renovate. Pears and apples can be most

successfully renovated. Cherries peaches

and nectarines are difficult to renovate.

It's typically easier to just replace

them. Whatever kind of tree you're

working on the renovation process will

take three to four years to complete. The

first step is to cut off any dead wood

or branches and this can be done anytime

of year but in the summer it's a little

bit easier see which branches are

dead and which ones are alive.

You also want to cut any suckers off

growing from the bottom of the trunk or

up from the ground. It's almost time to really

get started pruning. The second step

should be done during the winter. Before

you begin reshaping and resizing your

tree step back and assess what you have

to work with and how you want it to look

in a few years, when you're finished with

the restoration. You might want to mark

the branches you want to keep with

weather resistant tags so you won't get

carried away or forget the plan later in

the process. In the first year you will

focus on removing up to one-third of the

branches. Focusing on the branches that

give too much height to the tree and to

branches that are growing downwards or

in towards the trunk. You should also

remove the crossing and rubbing branches.

When pruning for restoration, prune the

branches all the way to their point of

origin, not halfway along the branch.

Remove any water sprouts that have grown

in the upper level of the canopy, lower

water sprouts can be thinned if needed,

but otherwise left alone to become fruit-

bearing branches in a few years. If these

branches are growing upwards use limb

spreaders to train them to grow at a 60

to 90 degree angle. You should also thin

out the smaller branches to increase air

circulation and sunlight within the

canopy. Always select for horizontal or

upward angle branches that are growing

away from the trunk. The best fruit

production will come from branches

younger than 4 years old, so when

deciding between two similar branches

choose the younger. The final thinned

spacing should have about one and a half

to two feet between branches. Never cut

more than one third of the canopy of the

tree. That won't help you renovate any

faster, in fact cutting too much will

actually make the tree re-grow faster

and too much. So here in the first winter

we've controlled the height of the tree

by pruning a lot of the taller branches.

We've cut all the dead branches off.

We're going to continue to prune a

little bit more with crossover branches

and branches growing into the tree but

no more than one-third of the canopy. For

the removal of a very large branch or

very tall branches, you should get the

help of a Certified Arborist. Stay tuned

the restoration of this mature fruit

tree and grow organic for life!

Hi everyone!

This is Jen Wynia here.

Welcome to my channel, this is my first ever YouTube Video and I really appreciate you

taking some time to watch it today.

I've been thinking for a few months now of starting a YouTube Channel, and I haven't

done it because I've been afraid that I didn't have the knowledge necessary to create a good

YouTube Video.

Like one with the banners and the music, and the cutting and all of that stuff, so this

video that you are seeing today, there's absolutely no cutting or editing or anything.

I have no idea where to start with that.

I am sure with time I will learn and get better!

I really just wanted to put this message out there, that sometimes when we are unsure or

afraid of something or looking to do something that's really outside of our comfort zone,

we may look for reasons to avoid doing it.

Just like me with this video, reasons like, I don't know what I'm doing, it's preventing

me from actually getting out there and doing it!

And, to just take that fear, kick it to the side, and sometimes you might really surprise

yourself.

Things might actually go better than you thought!

One thing I am also doing right now is I am in the process of launching my own coaching

business - online based coaching business - it's at www.jenwynia.com and I am a Career

and Personal Success Coach.

So I am looking to help other women out there who are looking to uplevel in their career,

looking to move forward and really feel confident in their professional life, but also getting

that strength in their personal life as well - so that they can be their best at the office,

they can be the best version of themselves at home, and even if you are a women who is

looking to start her own business, my job is to walk with you in finding out what is

that, what does that look like for you, and keeping you accountable in taking the steps

to move forward, to reach those goals and to get that life that you are hoping for,

that you are dreaming of.

Because, it really is possible.

Six months ago, I was at home on my maternity leave and I knew that I wanted to do more,

I knew that I could do more, and I never thought that being a business owner or doing a YouTube

Video was something that I could even accomplish.

I've connected with some really great people over the last six or more months, and I'm

actually at a point where - here I am, I'm almost ready to launch my business!

I am super excited about it and I can't wait to get to know all of you out there.

Hi I'm Ryan Kliethermes with KE2 Therm.

The KE2 LDA communication device has created the ability to access the KE2 Temp family

of products through webpages.

This means you can now remotely monitor & adjust the controller's setpoints as well as receive

alarm notifications via text message or e-mail.

Before we jump onto the LDA, first make sure your devices are already connected to the

LDA and the LDA is connected to the network.

Next you should connect to the LDA using an Ethernet cable attached to the LAN port or

through wireless.

Now you're ready to start.

From your connected device, launch a web browser and navigate to the LDA's main page.

This is accomplished by either entering the direct IP address of

https:// one nine two dot one six eight dot fifty dot one

or https://ke2lda- last 6 digits of the LDA's MAC address

then you'll be on the KE2 LDA dashboard.

There are separate videos looking at the Dashboard and Management console if you need more information,

but for this video, we'll focus on the KE2 Temp controller.

Once we find the KE2 Temp in the list select it to display its webpage

Here we are on that KE2 Temp's webpage.

At the top we see the User Defined description of the controller.

Followed by the KE2 Therm controller type, and finally a button for the type of view,

Simple view is used primarily for end users and only displays basic information.

By selecting Show Advanced View, You can see the basic information as well

as current system states are shown

- so System Mode, which here is Refrigerate,

then the current Room Temperature,

the compressor relay, and alarm status.

Below this we have Manual System Control, which forces the controller to the next system

mode'.

they are Defrost, Refrigerate and Off

Then we get to the Setpoints section where you can make adjustments.

Clicking the question mark reveals the setpoint details.

Here for the Room Temperature we see the Limits, a min and max temperature,

And below that in gray we see the current setting.

We can scan across the row and see Air Temp Differential

Then Compressor Starts per Hour Defrost time

Defrosts per day Hi Temp Alarm Offset

High and Low Alarm Delay Low Temp Alarm Offset

Modbus Address Temperature Units

This can all be managed from the front of the controller, but using the webpage allows

all the setpoints to be seen together.

the last section of the webpage is the Device Info

So the firmware version Modbus address

Timeout counter which indicates the quality of the connection

The device name, this is where you give the controller a name that is meaningful to you,

the firmware ID, which for KE2 Temps, is always 20643,

and then the KE2 Therm controller designation.

One last thing I want to mention is that setting up alarm notifications for the KE2 Temp is

done on the KE2 LDAs Management console.

today for the first time i will show you

behind the secene...

how I done first couple

of the few episodes what you've already seen

and I've been thinking should I show you

direct stop motion or the post-production

but then let's make it

This is my key light. Can.. Can you see?

This is not funny look around...

I'm not a Hollywood ... what I need to do is improvise

and it works. It's a regular lamp duct tape

all over the broken old tripod from the camera

And do you know what is the best

it's this bicycle light! Look it have a

pretty great range of the motion so...

When I needed extra additional light for the moon

or to pop up certain area on the screen

I had no problem to pose this light

and get the highlight wherever I needed

and then i'm using the secondary light

which is the fill light... let's take a look

it's just another lamp nothing fancy

it hangs up there another time

illuminate this area or to go behind the monitor

more glow from the bottom of the painting

so yes maybe funny

but it did works...

And as Mikey told in the video

how do we do this? Slowly...

Step by step and this is my first step...

Except these two lights, i've used

a lot of different smaller one

which I used just for an atmosphere *I will show you*

So... over here this is another flashlight

from the bicycle this light i put on

on a little tripod a little stand so i can

place it and faces to the direction where i needed

It's just a flashing red to

have a more fire effect there

and also this light, which I used to illuminate figure

from the bottom Ooo yes, and one more thing

a little tip... I like vivid colors

and what I found really effective is..

sheet where you put your your paper

and it's with the colors i got a blue red

and the yellow that drops down...

So... I found it's really cheap...

it is cheap, but effective :)

that's the way how I achieved

the gradual colors...

so of course... in the post-production I Enhanced those colors, but

basically I've tried to achieve a different

feeling with just using this translucent effects

Softbox :) you know what is softbox

so I've tried to take the pizza box

cut it around and make a frame for the soft-box.

I've end up with this.

Then... you'll pop it like this...

put a cloth sheet over here

the shadow should be soft

yea, that's cool in theory but in praxis

this light is so weak I lost so much light

that I couldn't do it...

This improvisation with light box it didn't worked...

and so if you've been wondering

what kind of lights did I used... now you know

it's nothing fancy and I wanted

to make a third episode as soon as I could

so you can see... Oooo... This is what is going on !

The first and second part it will

make sense suddenly and so I was pushing

me pushing it hurry hurry, let's make it

quickly but there was a problem...

For every shot what I've done I had to...

Basically I had to position this light

I've made...

I've made another scene I need

to re-position light

and then in a third episode I need to walk around

and the light is way too weak and

everything was... it looked terrible it

looked just so terrible that I couldn't do it.
