When Students Bribe Teachers || Can You Bribe Teachers? - Duration: 5:22.

Today I want to talk to you about when students bribe teachers and why it's such a bad idea

for me to take a bribe from you.

Welcome back to CapOhTV, the channel where we know school is a joke and you don't want

to be the punchline.

If this is your first time here and you also think school is a joke, hit that subscribe

button so you don't miss a thing.

As a substitute teacher I get to hand out a ton of assignments every week.

Science...

Language Arts...

Art...

All of them!

And, you know, at least three times a week there's a student or students who say,

"Mister, can I just give you five dollars and I don't have to do this?"

"Aw, come on, Mister, I'll give you a dollar if you don't give that to me."

I don't know why they all have that weird accent.

So, essentially, they're trying to bribe me into not making them do the work.

And you know what, those people that bribe me probably aren't going to do the work anyway,

so I don't know why they're trying to waste their money on it.

Here's what I always say to these students: It's not worth it to me.

And then they'll come back and say, "Oh, how about ten dollars?

How about twenty dollars?"

And I'm—no, no, you don't understand, it's really not worth it to me.

If I take your five, ten, twenty dollars and I get found out for taking bribes, what do

you think is going to happen to me?

I'm going to lose my job, I'm going to be told don't come back to this school anymore.

And I won't be getting paid anymore and I won't be able to buy food and then I'll starve

to death.

That's what happens if you take a bribe: YOU DIE.

This might sound crazy but there are actual teachers who have taken bribes.

Here's one example of a Florida man, a math teacher, who took bribes from students in

exchange for raising their grades on tests and quizzes.

And you know how he got found out?

Because students were stapling the money to their quizzes and tests!

Literally, stapling it to the paper!

I'm not sure how long this went on, but when school officials found out that this guy was

taking bribes in order to raise the grades of some students who were stupid enough to

pay him-- and they were only paying him, like, fifty

dollars a pop, seventy, maybe.

This guy, this teacher, lost his job, lost his teaching certificate in the entire state

of Florida, he is not allowed to apply for a new one,

ever.

He's not allowed to teach in a school, ever, in Florida.

And on top of that, he can't even go to another state now because they've entered his name

into special teacher database for wrongdoing.

They have pretty much blackballed him from the teaching profession for the rest of his

life.

So even if he went to another state and tried to apply for a certificate or something, the

state will see his name listed right there saying, "Do not hire this person; he takes

bribes from students."

If he was like teachers around here, a math teacher, any, like, teacher with a few years

of experience, he was probably getting paid fifty, sixty,

seventy-thousand dollars a year to go to school and teach kids math!

For fifty dollars in a bribe he lost that.

He lost that ability for the rest of his life.

No more summers off.

No more paid holidays.

No more guaranteed weekends.

It's all gone for this dude.

All because he needed seventy dollars to cover some financial troubles.

How can you have financial troubles if you're making seventy-thousand dollars a year?

Come on, now.

As a substitute I'm making nowhere near seventy-thousand dollars a year.

But I still need the money that I do make.

So to accept a bribe over a stupid worksheet that doesn't matter anyway is foolish.

It's called opportunity cost.

Should I accept something now and possibly give up something in the future?

Or should I wait until the future and collect everything that's due to me?

If I give you one marshmallow and I tell you if you don't eat that marshmallow, I'll give

you another one tomorrow.

But you're totally free to eat the marshmallow now because you love marshmallows, I know

you do, and you want to eat it right now.

That's economic judgment.

That's understanding that there is value in waiting and the future value outweighs the

present value of the thing.

So if I accept five dollars from you, twenty dollars from him, 15 from her...

Okay, what am I going to do with that once I lose my ability to make the actual money

that I should be making?

It's not worth it to bribe your teachers.

And if a teacher ever asks you for a bribe, you better report him or her to the authorities

because there's a good chance that he or she is already accepting bribes from other students.

And that's not the way I want people to pass school.

And, you know, this is a lesson for you also.

You may not be a teacher accepting bribes, but in your life there's going to be situations

where you can either accept something now or wait just a little bit for something better.

Because patience is a virtue and sometimes your patience gets you two marshmallows instead

of one.

If you're not subscribed to CapOhTV already and you think school is a joke, hit that subscribe

button and help us spread the message that school is a joke and you don't want to be

the punchline.

And I hope you've never bribed a teacher, but if you have some crazy story about someone

that you know that did, leave a comment down below.

I'd love to talk about that.

Thanks for watching, see you later, bye.

This AMAZING IDEA Can Protect Future Colonists On Mars? - Duration: 3:38.

Scientists have found a super great idea to protect future colonists on Mars against deadly

radiation by placing an artificial magnetic dipole field at a stable point between Mars

and the Sun, namely Lagrange point L1.

Welcome, I'm Heathcliff, this is Lions Ground and I hope you're doing well.

Yes, another subtle hint that they want to Mars.

This is the brain behind the idea, Dr. Jim Green.

No, he isn't green, that's his name.

However, He Began working in the Magnetospheric Physics Branch at NASA's Marshall Space Flight

Center in 1980.

Since 2006, Dr. Green Became the director of the Planetary Science Division at NASA

Headquarters.

A very smart man, in my opinion, so I asked NASA to pass him a simple math .... easy ... pff..

So, He along with other researchers came with this idea.

Dr. Green and the researchers want to place a magnetic shield, which forms a kind of a

magnetosphere.

What is a magnetosphere you will think?

That is a region that, in this case, surrounds Mars that bend all sorts of nasty particles

and radiations.

To explain it understandable.

If you won't have that kind of protective region and you will be on mars you will look

like my sister who has an autotune voice..... ..... and you don't want that.

How they exactly want to intend to apply the shield is beyond me, but an invention can

never exist without ideas.

If they pull this together they want to create a greenhouse effect, they want to make Mars

habitable.

Here is my theory, an unproven fantasy of mine, is this maybe not the way the Earth

is created?

We always talk about beings from above, whether it are aliens or God, we praise always to

something up there.

We, humans, have unusual needs to explore the space and you have to admit our history

is super sketchy.

Hmmm...(tin foil hat) Do you think this plan will work?

How To Stop Doubting Yourself So You Can Go After Your Dreams - Duration: 9:16.

How To Stop Doubting Yourself So You Can Go After Your Dreams.

by Alison Breen,

The gap between what we do and what were capable of doing would suffice to solve most

of the worlds problems. ~Gandhi

I have lived most of my life with a challenging contradiction.

I am a hopeless idealist and dreamer.

And I have also dealt with high levels of anxiety, worry, and doubt, especially as an

adult.

You can probably already see how this can go horribly wrong!

Id have an idea of something Id like to do.

An idea that would excite and thrill me.

I would feel energizedenthusiastic and excited about the possibility of making a

dream a reality.

Then Id hit a challenge or obstacle.

And the doubt would come.

Sometimes the result would be so subtle that I wouldnt even notice its effectsthat

I was avoiding doing things to make my idea happen.

Like when I decided to relearn piano as an adult, something Id loved as a child and

would lose myself in playing for hours, especially during the challenging times growing up.

I had been heartbroken when I had to give it up because we had to return the piano Id

been using to practice on.

As a gift to myself I bought a piano.

I was so excited.

It felt so good to be giving attention to part of myself that I felt had been neglected.

But as I practiced I struggled.

And I started to doubt whether Id be able to master the skills that had seemed to come

so easily as a child.

The frustration built and I started putting in less and less effort and time.

I eventually gave it up amid excuses about not having the time.

Other times the effects of the doubt were far more obvious and painfulthe fear, endless

procrastination, frustration, and eventual defeat.

Another idea relegated to the dusty pile of unfulfilled potential.

The older I got, the harder this cycle became.

I became more and more frustrated and filled with a sense of urgency to try and follow

through with my ideas.

It felt like time was running out.

It got to a point where, in hindsight I realize, I was depressed, although I didnt recognize

it at the time.

Id lost my confidence in myself and my ability to do the things that really mattered

to me.

Id love to say that I was able to turn this around in the five easy steps that were

all craving.

The reality is that it was a long and non-linear journey of self-discovery, voracious learning,

experimentation, trial and error, and small successes and failures, until one day I realized

that something had profoundly changed at the core of my being.

I trusted myself again.

I had rediscovered something that I knew had always been there.

That sense of confident learning and experimentation that small children have, when they push themselves

to their limits without the fear of being judged or shamed for making mistakes.

I could take risks again.

Small at first to build confidence.

It felt so good.

I felt alive, filled with hope and possibility.

Now when I have an idea I am able to act on it (well, most of the time anyway!), and sustain

the energy and motivation over long time periods in order for the idea to become a reality.

Transforming the Self-Doubt Habit

If anything of my experience resonates with you, then you have it too.

The self-doubt habit.

And, in fact, if youre human, you definitely have it.

As Stephen Pressfield wrote in his book Do the Work, Were wrong to think were

the only ones struggling with resistance.

Everyone who has a body experiences resistance. (Resistance is the word he uses to refer to

fear/worry/self-doubtanything that takes you away from doing the thing that matters).

Now that I have recognized this profoundly destructive habit in myself, I see it everywhere

and hear it in the way people talk about themselves and their ideas.

I would love to so this, but I dont think I can. That would be my dream,

but it would probably never happen.

But what if I am not good enough?

Sound familiar?

And the outcome?

We conclude: Why even bother trying? We give up before investing the necessary

effort that would lead to a successful outcome.

Two ideas have been key in helping me both recognize this destructive habit and being

able to mitigate the effects so that I can build my confidence in my ability to do the

things that matter to me.

1.

The actions of confidence come first; the feelings of confidence come later.

Dr Russ Harris, author of The Confidence Gap describes the confidence gap as the place

we get stuck when fear gets in the way of our dreams and ambitions.

We believe that we cant achieve or even work on our goals until we feel more confident.

This, he says, is the wrong rule of confidence.

The first rule of confidence is: The actions of confidence come first, the feelings come

later.

Lightbulb moment for me.

I realized that I had been putting off some many things, waiting for the day when I would

magically feel more confident!

Recognizing that this day would probably never come, I started experimenting with strategies

and ideas to help me start taking small steps, which, despite the fear and doubt, helped

me build my confidence over time.

2.

You can always get better.

The other body of work that profoundly shifted my thinking and helped me to take confident

action was the work of Carol Dweck, Ph.D, author of Mindset

Through her research at Stanford University, she found that people could be generally divided

into two categories depending on their beliefs about themselveseither fixed or growth

mindset.

People with fixed mindsets believe that their talents and intelligence are fixed, so they

spend their lives trying to prove themselves.

Their self-worth is always on the line, and failure is to be avoided at all costs.

When they do experience failure, they feel intense shame and see it as proof of not being

good enough.

People with growth mindsets believe that talents and intelligence can be developed through

effort and practice, so they take on challenges so they can grow and learn.

Challenges are to be embraced as the path to fulfilling potential and learning.

Another huge aha for me.

I realized that I had been operating with a fixed mindset.

When I started to work on an idea, whether I was working on a creative project or trying

to develop a new skill, like learning to play the piano, Id give up as soon as I struggled.

Struggle for me equalled I cant; Im not good enough.

However, when I could recognize my thinking and see it from a growth mindset perspective,

I could catch that thought and say to myself, I am learning, I can get better with practice,

which allowed me to keep putting in the effort needed to develop my skills and become more

confident in the area.

I could reframe struggle as evidence that I was learning rather than a sign of some

innate flaw that I needed to be ashamed about.

This one mindset shift has alone had the biggest impact in helping me keep being able to take

action.

Action steps:

1.

Do whatever you can to become aware of your thoughts during the day.

What are you saying to yourself?

How are you talking about yourself to other people?

Meditate, journal, do whatever it takes.

It is the most important thing that you can do for yourself.

2.

Make a conscious effort to eliminate any thoughts or talk that undermines you.

Change it to a growth mindset.

Instead of self-doubt thoughts like What if I cant or What if Im not good

enough try thoughts like I am learning, it is challenging but I with practice and

effort I will get better and ask yourself questions like: What is one thing I can

do today to increase my chances of succeeding?

Practice this new mindset over and over and over again until it becomes a habit.

As Tynan says in Superhuman by Habit, New habits are things that

you do, but old habits are things that you are.

Can YouTube Really Be This Tedious?! - YouTuber's Life Review (Steam/PC) - Duration: 6:46.

Do you wanna be the very best YouTuber?

Like no one ever was?

Well here comes YouTuber's Life to let you do just that.

YouTuber's Life is essentially a tycoon game in the vein of classics like Theme Hospital

or Lemonade Tycoon.

The goal of the game is to become the biggest YouTuber on the site

by making videos and making yourself known to all the other creators.

While I normally love this sort of game -

Theme Hospital is a game I can pick up and play ANY time and have a blast -

YouTuber's Life screws up some of the basic mechanics of this kind of game

and makes the whole experience a terrible chore.

In a way it's kind of impressive.

The creators managed to make a game where you experience the tedium of ACTUALLY

attempting to be a big creator on YouTube.

Hours upon hours of mind-numbing repetition

in order to slowly get your numbers up.

It makes for a pretty miserable gaming experience

but it sure does illustrate what a YouTube career is really like.

Most of these games involve doing the same actions over and over again

but they do something that YouTuber's Life doesn't:

they keep it short and sweet.

This is the fatal flaw of YouTuber's Life.

It spreads its goals out WAY too far and keeps you doing the same mind-numbing shit for far too long.

The truly irritating part about it all

is that it does it right for the first few hours.

The first few goals are dished up at a good pace

and it feels fun to be doing the same tasks over and over

but after a while, it starts to spread out the rewards too thin

and the tedium is starkly revealed.

It took me at least 10 hours - real time -

to hit one million subscribers and at that point I was expected to become number one

which involved getting more than double that with little to speed that process up.

And you know what made me want to absolutely SCREAM?

While I was spending HOURS trying to make enough subs to be number one

ALL of the other YouTubers ahead of me were increasing their subs as well.

Yeah, the game doesn't give you static numbers to try to beat

it forces you onto a treadmill where you are constantly trying to catch up to everyone else's arbitrary numbers.

My guess is that they wanted to simulate what actually happens on YouTube -

nobody's numbers stay the same so you ARE on a sub treadmill -

but translating that into a game of this type is an infuriatingly stupid decision.

All this really accomplished was padding out the length of the game

into something that went from pretty fun to HORRIBLY boring.

Let me break down what you're doing in the game post-one million subs.

First of all, I have the big mansion here so I'm able to have 3 collaborators with me.

These characters are there to either talk to, make videos on their own

or make collaboration videos.

Making videos with these characters is identical to making them by yourself

so they're really just there to beef up your numbers.

From there you're doing the same things:

having your collaborators make videos or improve their skills via courses,

making videos yourself, buying stuff -

which is usually computer upgrades, random items, food, etc -

sleep and eating.

Over

and over

and over

and over

and over.

You're able to go to events like parties and movies

but they aren't exciting and exist only to increase relationship levels with the other characters.

Just queue up a bunch of dialogue options and wait.

Enthralling.

Man, I am having SO much fun right now you guys.

Sometimes there are shops that let you buy an exclusive item after achieving a small goal -

like getting a date -

but that's about it.

These side events are as dull as dishwater and are essentially pointless at this stage of the game.

You've likely already met most of the characters,

so you can just log onto your computer and chat to them for a while to increase how much they like you.

Oh, I guess I should tell you why that even matters and..

well, for the most part it kinda doesn't.

You DO need to do this in order to hire collaborators

but once you've got that, then you don't need to keep up your relationships whatsoever.

All you need to do is avoid making them loathe you -

which will cause them to constantly downvote your videos -

and you're good.

You can also start a relationship with another character

but that also takes a long time and doesn't really have any payoff.

They could've taken some cues here from something like Harvest Moon but nope!

So the developers added in side events meant to distract from the tedium of clicking the same options over and over

but they managed to make these events even MORE tedious than the core gameplay.

I gotta hand it to this team for THAT accomplishment.

How the heck did you guys manage that, anyway?

At least I can speed up time in the game and set videos to be edited automatically.

Awe yeah, I can just have the game play itself!

Editing is another aspect of the game that is fun at first but quickly grows stale.

Editing involves matching your available cards, which can be changed as you earn more,

and matching them to the situation at hand.

Once you've gotten a perfect match, that prompt will forever show the correct card to use via an icon.

This is certainly useful but at the same time it turns editing into a boring matching game pretty quickly.

One that I personally skipped as much as possible.

Add all of that to graphics that aren't impressive and honestly kind of ugly..

Ugh..

and a multitude of bugs that range from items getting stuck

to losing the ability to take any actions without shutting the dame down entirely

and you've got quite a failure on your hands.

Honestly, YouTuber's Life had potential

and if the development team cared enough, they could go back and retool things to make it work better.

Keeping sub goals static -

as in don't have the rivals gain more subs as you play -

shortening the time it takes to achieve goals,

adding actual fun sidequests into things like the parties,

and eliminating the irritating bugs would bring this game WAY up in my estimation.

As it is, YouTuber's Life is only fun for the first couple hours

but quickly devolves into maddening tedium afterward.

Since this one left Early Access, I assume it's not going all that much

so it's really not worth the money and it's not worth your sanity.

Chuck it in the bin and play Theme Hospital again instead.

Your Earth Is Blue: How You Can Help Fight Invasive Species - Duration: 2:22.

We need your help to fight marine invasive species.

Marine invasives are saltwater

species that are not native to an area and

they have unwanted impacts in their new

location. These species are transported

from their homes to faraway places

as hitchhikers aboard ships or as aquarium pets

released back into the wild. They

can then be spread across local waters by

boats, divers, and fishermen. Marine

invasive species cause major economic

and ecological impacts, costing billions

of dollars each year to manage. If you're a

certified diver you can help us with

this challenging problem.

We're currently looking for two invasive

algae spreading across the coast of

Southern California and the Channel

Islands. They're called Sargassum horneri and

Underia pinnatifida. We need your help to

track these dangerous characters,

pinpointing exactly where you've seen them.

When you find an invasive seaweed, record

the species, water depth, life stage, and

the habitat where you saw it.

Make sure you don't remove it. It's easily

spread. Photos of the invasive algae are

important too. If you have a camera, be

sure to take a picture. Once you're back

on board, record your GPS location and

the name of the site where you were diving.

And before you leave a dive site, make

sure to check your gear and anchor and

removing any hitchhiking seaweed.

Back on land, report the invasive species you saw

at marineinvasives.org.

With this important data, we'll be able to

document the spread and contain and

minimize the impacts of the invasion.

Have fun diving and remember to report your

sighting. Thanks for your help.

How Much Can I Save on Energy Bills with Foam Insulation? - Duration: 1:24.

Hi, I'm Amanda and I'm here with Joe, an estimator at RetroFoam of Michigan.

Joe, when people are looking at getting their homes insulated they want to know 'How much

am I going to save on my energy bills?'

I know that's not an easy answer because it can vary depending on the project, so how

much can they look at saving depending on what they have done?

Yeah, Amanda, it's not that easy type of thing.

Are you doing just your walls?

Are you doing just your crawl space?

Is it one story, two story?

It varies.

I can tell you when you put all three things together, and when I say all three I'm talking

your attic, your walls, your crawl space, or your rim joist, savings are huge.

You will see a huge difference – comfortable houses and savings anywhere from 30 to 50

percent is what we've been seeing.

It all depends on what you're getting done.

Perfect.

Thank you so much.

If you can keep your head when all about you

Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,

If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,

But make allowance for their doubting too;

If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,

Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,

Or being hated, don't give way to hating,

And yet don't look too good,

nor talk too wise:

If you can dream — and not make dreams your master;

If you can think — and not make thoughts your aim;

If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster

And treat those two impostors just the same;

If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken

Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,

Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,

And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings

And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,

And lose, and start again at your beginnings

And never breathe a word about your loss;

If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew

To serve your turn long after they are gone,

And so hold on when there is nothing in you

Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on!"

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,

Or walk with Kings — nor lose the common touch,

If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,

If all men count with you, but none too much;

If you can fill the unforgiving minute

With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,

Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,

And — which is more......

You'll be a Man, my son!

How You Can Use Your Ears for a One Minute Mind Gym Mindfulness Practice - Duration: 4:05.

hello everyone its Camille your less stress

lifestyle coach and for those of you who

are just joining one of my broadcast I

help working parents live a life with

less stress and more joy and today I'm

going to share with you how can use you

can use your ears to do a one-minute

mind Jim mindfulness practice so I like

to teach a practice called daily mind

Jim it combines lots of different things

meditation mindfulness visualization

emotional intelligence all sorts of

things

deep breathing and I wanted to share

with you what i call a one minute minder

Jim practice and that is something that

you can do kind of in the heat of the

moment or when you need to take a pause

in your day and just very quickly do

some sort of mindfulness exercise and

today we're going to use our ears so did

you know that your ears actually have a

lot of acupressure and refracts

reflexology and acupuncture points on

them and so they correspond to all

different parts of your body both organ

systems and ways that you can

they're beautifully help yourself and

all of that happens kind of around your

ear and on the inside of year there's

all different sorts of points and we can

talk more about that in another video

but for today i want to give you this

little bit so if you want to do this

exercise again and we'll take you just

about a minute what you're going to do

is you're going to take your index

finger and your thumbs mostly the index

finger and you're going to put it in the

inside of your ear just in line with

your ear canal and that portion of your

ear where you kind of give it a little

bit of a pinch corresponds to being able

to give yourself some muscle relaxation

so as we get stressed and we get tense

in our days obviously we can set up our

muscles and so to give yourself a little

relaxation we're going to activate that

point of your ear and then what we're

going to do is we're gonna pull your

ears forward is if you were looking at

them from above there would be a

45-degree angles your kind of pulling

them away from the back of your neck and

you're going to do that while you take

six long breath

ideally you want to do that for an

inhale of five and then exhale five and

so we're going to a couple rounds on the

close my eyes but again you would do it

for a full minute so if you do inhale

for five exhale for five you that six

times

you have a minute right so I'm just

going to do a couple not gonna count

though I try to breathe from your belly

if at all possible because I don't get

your diaphragmatic breathing so again

you're pulling your ears forward away

from your back of your neck and back

side of your body and you're going to

make sure that your kind of creating

what would be a 45-degree angle if

you're looking at it from the other side

and you're activating that center part

of your in your ear to help with muscle

relaxation and so once you've done that

for a minute you should notice that you

conjure nervous system little bit you're

in a calmer State and that is something

that you can do for yourself anywhere

that you feel comfortable putting your

hands in your ears if you need to

retreat to a restroom or to a room where

you can close the door or if you feel

confident you just want to do it in

public

that's great too you can even your car

so that's just a way that you can just

give yourself a little bit of a pause

during your day yourself a mindful

moment and I wanted to let you all know

that there's actually another way that I

kind of kick that up a notch and

actually get another layer of relaxation

benefit and so if you would like to know

what that is please drop a two of two

for two years or a near emoji in the

comments and I will be sure to let you

know what that little extra notch of

relaxation is hope you found that

helpful if you like this video and you

know someone who could take a little or

use taking a little bit of a pause in

their day please share it with them and

as always i like to sign off by saying

remember to stress less and live more

have a great day
