THESE ANCIENT LIFEFORMS TRAPPED IN A CRYSTAL CAVE WILL CHANGE THE DEFINITION OF LIFE

Hidden in one of the strangest, most beautiful places on Earth lies an organism that will

change our perception of living things.

The Cave of the Crystals in Naica, Mexico is a unique place and one of the most majestic

cave systems in the world.

It is home to some of the largest natural crystals ever found on Earth, arranged in

a spectacular display that seems out of this world.

And a recent discovery shows that it is home to something even more sensational, an ancient

organism that is found nowhere else.

The strange life form has the potential to turn the scientific world on its head and

completely rewrite the way we understand and classify living things.

Located at a depth of 980 feet below surface, the Giant Crystal cave was discovered in 2000

by miners excavating a tunnel under the Naica silver mines.

They were stunned to discover giant selenite crystals, the largest of them measuring 39

feet in length and weighing 55 tons.

As dazzled as they were by nature�s huge crystal shop, the miners could only stay down

there for 10 minutes at a time.

The air temperature never falls below 136 �F (58� Celsius) while the humidity varies

between 90 and 99 percent.

Due to these harsh conditions, the cave has remained a tantalizing prospect for explorers,

one that remains inaccessible without proper protection.

These extreme conditions are also what makes the cave system a place of great interest

for scientists who study extremophiles, microscopic organisms that thrive in brutal conditions

seen as unsuitable for life.

Recently, NASA scientists managed to single out a group of dormant extremophiles trapped

inside the giant crystals.

The scientists estimate the microbes could be anywhere between 10,000 and 50,000 years

old, making them an ancient, once thriving colony.

Even though the microbes have been dormant for millennia, they are very much alive.

THESE ORGANISMS HAVE BEEN DORMANT BUT VIABLE FOR GEOLOGICALLY SIGNIFICANT PERIODS OF TIME,

AND THEY CAN BE RELEASED DUE TO OTHER GEOLOGICAL PROCESSES.�

Despite the fact that no light has ever penetrated the depths of the crystal cave, the microbes

seem to be doing just fine.

They rely on a process called chemosynthesis to obtain their daily bread from what metals

are present in the crystals.

Leading the team that made the discovery was the Director of NASA�s Astrobiology Institute

in Moffett Field, CA, Dr. Penelope Boston.

She revealed their findings at this year�s meeting of the American Association for the

Advancement of Science:

�Other people have made longer-term claims for the antiquity of organisms that were still

alive, but in this case these organisms are all very extraordinary � they are not very

closely related to anything in the known genetic databases,� Dr. Boston said.

This discovery proves there is a much greater diversity for life than previously thought

and it could cause scientists to rethink the way biology works.

It could also extend the meaning of �alive� to other, previously sterile areas.

How to learn Yamaha DX7 Synthesizer - Tutorial: FM Synthesis Sound Design E.Piano Part 1 - Duration: 7:12.

This is Part 1 of the FM synthesis tutorial series for the famous DX7 electric pianos,

E.Piano and FullTines.

In part 1, I will cover Algorithm, feedback, oscillator.

Now we will start with Algorithm.

Press the edit button, then press button 7 to see its algorithm used.

The famous DX7 e.piano 1 uses Algorithm 5, like the Tub Bells.

Yes, again, it's the divide and conquer approach and I will explain this in detail

later.

We are moving to Feedback.

Press button 8 to see the amount of feedback applied to operator 6.

In the FM synthesis, Feedback is used for generating a sound packed with higher harmonics

such as a sawtooth wave, without a need for many operators.

It level is set to 6, which is quite high.

We can use Operator on/off buttons to hear what harmonic contents each tower is producing.

Let's listen to Tower 1 by turning on Operators 1 and 2 only.

It produces the main metallic tone of electric piano.

Let's listen to Tower 2 by tuning on Operators 3 and 4 only.

It produces a soft sustain tone of the electric piano.

Let's listen to Tower 3 by turning on Operators 5 and 6 only.

It produces a sawtooth sustain tone of the electric piano.

Let's look at Oscillator.

Press buttons 18 to 20 and use operator select to see each operator.

By looking at this table, we can clearly see that the main metallic tone is generated by

Tower 1.

Its operator 2 has frequency ratio of 14.00 to generate that the famous metallic tone.

For tower 2, ratios for Operators 3 and 4 are set at 1.00.

This is how the soft sustain tone is generated.

For tower 3, ratios for Operators 5 and 6 are set at 1.00.

With feedback at 6, Tower 3 generates the sawtooth sustain tone.

We will look into detune.

General rules of detuning to get a chorusing effect is to have 2 independent towers with

similar or the same harmonic contents.

In tower 3, Operator 5 is set at -7 and operator 6 is set at +7.

Although both operators 3 and 4 are set to 0, Tower 2 is detuned with Tower 3, giving

the unique sustain tone with a chorusing effect.

For tower 1, carrier operator 1 is set at +3.

This means that you have three carriers Operators 1, 3 and 5 with detune of +3, 0 and -7.

Operator 1 is basically used as smoothing the overall chorusing effect.

So we can summarise what we've learnt so far.

Tower 1 produces the main metallic tone, and its Operator 1 is smoothing out the overall

chorusing effect.

Tower 2 produces the soft sustain tone with a chorusing effect.

Tower 3 produces a sharper sustain tone with a chorusing effect.

We can pause here to do self learning tutorials.

Turn on operators 1 and 2 only.

Select operator 2 and change its ratio (coarse) up and down.

How do these changes affect the main metallic tone of the famous e.piano?

Put Operator 2 ratio back to 14.00.

Turn operators 3, 4, 5 and 6 only.

Select operator 6 and change its Ratio up and down.

How do these changes affect eh overall tone?

Put Operator 6 ratio back to 1.00.

Change detune of operator 6 for +7 to -7 by one increment.

What will happen to the overall chorusing effect?

Chandrayaan-2 vs Chandrayaan-1 :: How different is India�s 2nd Moon Mission

Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has confirmed that the next mission to the

Moon, Chandrayaan-2 will be launched in the early quarter of 2018.

Recently, at a press meeting, ISRO boss AS Kiran Kumar had confirmed about the same.

According to AS Kiran Kumar, ISRO is currently experimenting with what will be India�s

most ambitious Moon mission.

Interestingly, differentiating from the previous mission, the space organisation plans for

a controlled touchdown on the lunar surface when the probe will land.

Kumar, during his speech at the convocation ceremony of Vels Universtiy in Chennai, had

said that ISRO is building an engine which will make it easier for scientists and astronomers

to control land the spacecraft on the surface of the Moon.

In order to try out the mission here, ISRO has reportedly created a man-made crater in

order to simulate the conditions of Moon�s surface.

According to Kumar, there will be many ground tests for the Chadrayaan 2 mission in the

space body�s research facilities.

While the Chandrayaan 1 was launched on October 22, in the year 2008.

Hence, Chandrayaan 2, set to take wings in 2018, will be India�s second lunar mission.

The Chandrayaan II will consist of a rover, lander and orbiter.

ISRO has said that the Chandrayaan 2 mission will open up opportunities for new technology

and scientific achievements.

There will be many experiments and tests planned for the lunar mission.

A rover with wheels will collect soil and rock samples so that they could be analysed

on-site.

The probe will then be transmitted back to the Earth.

Moon is the world�s only natural satellite, and sending a spacecraft there not only gives

us key information about celestial bodies but also strengthens India�s position on

the map in the world space industry.

ISRO has been making waves with so many successful missions.

It just sent off 104 satellites in one go, and also successfully realigned the Mangalyaan�s

orbit.

The realignment happened because there was a long-standing eclipse which could have drained

the battery out of the probe.

Meanwhile, according to reports, scientists have been testing soft landing engines in

Tamil Nadu and Karnataka using a lunar surface simulation.

Dragon Ball Super Episode 81 will feature the 'Goku vs Bergamo' Third Round or The

As we know earlier, Buu won the first round, but Gohan vs lavender- Tie in the 2nd.

Making this round the decider of this match; In this video, I'll breakdown the preview

trailer of ' Dragon Ball Super Episode 81', and it might also contain Spoilers up to Episode

83.

First, let's check out the title and preview summary.

The Omni-Present Match comes to a head!

completely against Goku and Gang!

Omni-King This Week: taking back his declaration to wipe out the universes?!

Accepting the Bergamo's proposal, Omni-King announces that if Universe 4 wins, he will

withdraw his plan to wipe out universes who lose in the Tournament of Power!

What is Omni-King's aim?!

Well, there's some confusion regarding the preview summary.

In the official source, it mentioned Universe 4, but it will most probably be Universe 9.

We'll talk more about that as we go through the frame by frame breakdown of this preview.

So, from the first shot, we know Bergamo was strong enough to push Goku to go Super Saiyan

at least.

We see him preparing some reddish fist attack, looks cool.

Bergamo as a character also looks quite cool, not in a powerful way more like refreshing.

About this battle overall, I don't think there's any way Bergamo can overpower Goku,

there's just no way he would be stronger than Super Saiyan Blue if it came down to

it.

None of the fighters of U9 are stronger than the U7 fighters, the only reasons lavender

managed to tie the round vs Gohan was because he used a sneaky poisonous move.

The only way Goku would lose this match is by something weird like that or if Goku willingly

loses because of the reason mentioned in the preview summary.

I will analyze more on if Goku will throw the match for the greater good later in this

video.

Moving on, Champa seems a bit pissed off, why wouldn't he, but Whis like always is

all chill.

He knows no matter what he's gonna be fine; his daddy is The Great Priest after all.

Notice that all of them including Beerus are looking upwards, that's most probably because

of Bergamo's giant transformation.

Hell Yeah, things are going to get real intense next episode.

What does this remind you off, though?

How many giant transformations we have in Dragon Ball?

Well, technically Goku also has a giant form, The Great Ape Form, but Bergamo's transformation

reminds us more of The 23rd World Martial Arts Tournament finale where Piccolo transformed

into a giant to take down Goku.

As they just get bigger in size and not transform into something totally different like an ape.

Of course, the giant form didn't work out for Piccolo.

From the looks of it, it's also not going work out for Bergamo either.

As we see, Goku is hitting him in the trailer as he is falling, after being hit by Goku.

Unless one can keep his speed and strength the same in their Giant form, they only become

a bigger target.

Which I think is not a smart thing to do against a swift opponent like Goku.

So, I don't think this Giant form is going to work out well for Bergamo.

Then, this shot says, Toppo the black hooded warrior from Universe 11 is paying close attention

to the fight.

As you all probably know by now, he is kind of a big deal.

He is so strong he is actually considered to be a candidate for The God of Destruction

role.

The fact that he is here, along with Gods alone highlights his importance and the impact

he is going to have.

Now, something that is happening in the fight catches his attention.

What could it be?

I certainly don't think it is or it should be Bergamo's giant transformation.

That's not something extraordinary.

This might be what caught Toppo's attention, and he might even be pissed off about it.

When Basil's attack got deflected towards Universe's 11, Toppo said you dare disrespect

the God.

I think Toppo might have some similarity with Zamasu in their holy way of viewing the Gods,

and that Goku has God Ki even though he isn't a God might make him and few other a bit pissed

off.

Interestingly enough, we know Toppo is going to get involved in Episode 82 as the title

is ' The Righteous Warrior Toppo Bursts In.

Sounds interesting, but when will it happen?

Is it after the match?

Is it on Goku or U7?

Won't it be an inappropriate thing to do in front of all these Gods or is it a separate

segment as we See Toppo recruiting the team in his own Universe?

As in Episode 83, we will finally see Universe 7 forming their team.

Okay, all that apart, about the episode preview summary, it's probably Universe 9 in place

of Universe 4.

If that is, in fact, the case, this now means, this seemingly useless exhibition match will

now have some impact.

That is if Universe 9 wins, there will be no destruction.

So do you think Goku will lose the match on purpose?

Goku is a bit selfish, but as you know, he is not responsible for the destructive rule.

Zeno was going to weaker Universes anyway.

Thanks to Goku, The Universes will now have a fighting chance.

So, I think if presented with the opportunity Goku would lose, but we don't know how exactly

this will go down.

However, we do know, no matter what happens at the end, it has to be a survival tournament,

even if they withdraw the rule now it'll come back.

Because the name of this arc itself is 'Universal Survival Arc,' and if this law is removed,

it would be taking away the biggest specialty of this Tournament of Power.

Also, fighters like Gohan and other Z fighters are supposed to train giving their 100% for

the sake of protecting their Universe.

So, I think the rule will not be withdrawn and from a creative plot point of view should

not be withdrawn.

Hopefully, the fight will be entertaining, see this shot even the stage got broken.

Disney Invented A Room Where Your Phone Will Never Die - Duration: 3:47.

Hey there power-crazed viewers, Trace here for DNews.

Internet hero Nikola Tesla dreamed of delivering power wirelessly to the masses.

Of course, that was over a century ago, and here we are today with "wireless phones"

that are anything but.

Researchers at Disney, yes, the cartoon/amusement park juggernauts, have decided that simply

will not do, and they are trying to solve the problem with a little Disney magic.

And science.

Mostly science.

Wireless charging pads have existed for a while now, but they're far from perfect.

They work by running a high frequency alternating current through a circular coil, which creates

a magnetic field.

That field induces a current in another circular coil in the receiving device, and the device

converts it to direct current.

Presto change-o, your battery is charging wirelessly.

We actually have a whole video about it.

I'm sure you get that the device isn't physically tethered to those charging spots, but just

because of that, if it's picked up or moved off the pad just a bit, and the juice stops

flowing.

Therefore, unless you just can't stand the sight of cables, wireless charging is still

not perfect.

The real holy grail would be wireless charging at a distance.

Something that can keep you topped up while you walk around and using your phone.

Researchers at Disney think they have an answer to this.

Their solution was to design an entire room that basically functioned as a giant three-dimensional

charging pad.

You'd never even know it was different from any other room, aside that conspicuous copper

pole right in the middle of it.

If you look closely at the copper pole and you'll see a gap towards the top.

In that gap are small discrete capacitors.

By combining those capacitors with a signal generator and they can send alternating current

through the pole, the walls, the ceiling and the floor at the frequency of their choice.

This creates a magnetic field around the pole, and just like with current wireless chargers

on the market, if you have a receiver that resonates at the right frequency, you've

got wireless charging almost anywhere in the room.

Still, t's not perfect.

Unless your phone and the receiver coil inside are perpendicular to the magnetic field, nothing

is getting charged.

And of course, there's the issue of safety.

The room can transmit enough power to charge over 300 smartphones without exceeding the

government's safety guidelines for how much power a body can absorb, so long as you're

standing more than 46 centimeters away the pole, you shouldn't have to worry.

Also, it's probably best not to touch it.

Anything practical would need a shut-off mechanism if a person got too close, or a wall around

the pole to keep people far enough away.

The researchers note though it's important that something actually consumes that power

since whatever goes unused is stored in the room, and could be potentially harmful.

So future systems would need something to monitor how much power is being used too.

There's a long way to go here.

The researchers are optimistic this technology could be scaled for a variety of uses, from

small charging cabinets to warehouses that use multiple poles.

Since this was developed by Disney, don't be surprised if future theme parks advertise

that your phone will magically never go dead, while all the rooms suddenly have mysterious

pillars in the middle.

How Wire Protectors Will Save Your Jewelry! Friday Findings - Duration: 6:31.

Hi there, Sandy here.

Welcome to another Friday Findings video at KeepsakeCrafts.net.

Today I'm going to talk to you about a jewelry finding that I've actually been talking about

for some time, but I just realized I neglected to make a Friday Findings about it and that

is these little, tiny horse shoe pieces that can save your jewelry called wire protectors.

So here I have an assortment of wire protectors.

They come in all your basic finishes.

These are gold plated, silver plated, these are copper of course.

These one's are actually the silver plated ones that I needed to add a patina to for

a project and this was way back before I had owned liver of sulfur so I actually used a

hard boiled egg and it really does work.

Look it up online.

But what exactly do you do with these?

They're called wire protectors because they go on the wire of your jewelry and here's

an example of a necklace with some of the beads strung and at one point it transitions

to a chain.

So the beads are strung on to bead stringing wire and then the wire, I don't know if you

can see it, goes through this little horse shoe shaped thing and comes, loops through

and comes back out the other end and is crimped.

A crimp is inside this crimp cover and that way you have the wire protector there rubbing

on this piece of chain or it could be your clasp or whatever it is and the wire doesn't

get abraded.

It also is a bit more decorative.

I have this copper loop here so that shows and only a very little bit of the wire shows.

You could do the exact same thing on a bracelet.

Again, here's a bracelet that was strung and then a wire protector goes into the split

ring that I have here and another thing that's nice about the wire protector is that it's

thicker and more rigid so it's not going to slip through the link of a chain or get caught

on the edge of a wire in a split ring.

So it just makes a much more secure finding.

And you don't just have to use wire protectors with wire.

This bracelet is strung on thread.

Let me see if I can pull some apart so you can see.

It's strung on bead stringing thread and this is an ideal place to use a protector because

that thread would get shredded on this split ring that I have here.

So again, I don't know if you can see that, but the thread is going through the wire protector

and that helps keep your bracelet from breaking.

In fact, as a cautionary tale, here is a bracelet I made many years ago when I knew very little

of what I was doing.

This was a pattern I followed in a magazine and boy was it a ton of work!

The only thing holding it together is this little bit of thread and you can see it shredded

on the other piece of the clasp.

I probably, I have it on a split ring here, which wasn't a good idea.

So at some point I need to kinda redo the end of this bracelet because I really do love

it.

But I made the mistake on other bracelets too.

You can see just by having the thread, I've actually never had the wire pull through.

It's more often the thread that gets abraded and here's a silly beginner mistake having

a single strand of thread holding it onto the clasp.

If you're gonna do bead weaving, you need to have 2, 3 or even more, as many lengths

of thread as you can get on your finished ends.

So how do you use these?

Well, first of all, let's just take a look at the anatomy of one.

So it's horse shoe shaped and at the open ends, there are like little tubes as part

of the metal that's been, there they are, little tubes.

Part of the metal has been folded into a round part and that's where you slip your wire into,

you go in through one end and then around the rounded part of the horse shoe, it's just

a channel so it's open and then the wire just goes around through the other way.

And so just like when we're crimping with anything, you want to slide on your crimp

first and then even if you were just gonna make a plain loop like this, your crimp has

to go on first and then the wire goes back through it, but in this case we'll just go

through the wire protector.

So in through one of the open ends and then out through the other one and the important

thing here is you don't forget to add your clasp.

You can skip adding the clasp if it's open, but like here's a copper clasp that I made

that the loop is already wrapped and it's closed.

You have to add that first before your crimp it otherwise there's no way of getting it

on.

And this of course is very secure because there's no splits or anything for anything

to come out of and then you would just crimp your crimp and add a crimp cover like here

as usual and that's all there is to it.

And if you're using it with thread, you would probably thread, put your thread on a needle,

send it through the wire protector and then send it back through another bead.

Often you put a bead on, put the wire protector on, go back through the bead and then make

more knots down here on the other side of the bead.

That's how I've seen it done and then those knots are just kind of hidden when the next

bead in the pattern is up against that one.

So these are called wire protectors or wire guardians.

your jewelry a little bit longer lasting than some of my earlier pieces and a little bit

better quality.

So we don't just swallow food, we swallow air as well.

This means we can get a gas build up in our stomachs, which isn't good.

That sounds horrible!

How do we stop that?

OHHHHHHH!

I got it.

So burping is good!

If you didn't burp, you could get bloated or have stomach aches!

But you never burp, does that mean you ALWAYS have a stomach ache?

I don't have a stomach.

This pressure keeps the bubbles dissolved, so when it's opened

That hissing noise is the gas inside the can being pushed out suddenly.

Well those little bubbles in soda result in you consuming more gas when you drink.

How The First Order and Snoke Will Be More Deadly in The Last Jedi! (Nerdist News w/ Tiffany Smith) - Duration: 4:48.

Jessica is seriously back on Monday, I promise.

That's a spoiler, and there will also be

potential spoilers in this story, so let's get to it.

Can a galaxy divided against itself stand?

It's the question we'll have to ask ourselves this winter

when Star Wars VIII: The Last Jedi hits the big screen.

That's because until now, despite carving out

the core of an entire planet to create

a super weapon that extinguishes suns as fuel,

most people in the Star Wars universe

thought of the First Order as, well, no big deal.

Well, not anymore.

After blowing up the Galactic Republic in The Force Awakens,

it seems like everyone is waking up to the fact

that this Snoke dude means serious business.

This galactic state of the union comes to us

straight from the folks at Making Star Wars.

A rumor they recently published on their site

goes into detail about where we'll be

when the new movie starts.

First of all, as we've already reported,

this entry will be unique to the franchise

since it will open directly where the last one ended.

Until now, each new entry in each trilogy

jumps forward months or sometimes even years in time,

but this one will kick off mere seconds

after The Force Awakens cut to credits,

with Luke either accepting or rejecting

that lightsaber from Rey.

I swear, if he doesn't accept it,

I'm gonna be really, really pissed off,

and if he doesn't talk in this movie,

I'm gonna be really, really pissed off.

Making Star Wars then goes on to report

how other events from Episode VII

will impact the plot of Episode VIII, saying,

"Those who used to laugh at the idea

"that the First Order was a threat

"are either dead or no longer laughing."

Dun dun dun.

Then adding, "The galaxy knows he and his chronies

"are maniacal zealots, coming to conquer its worlds

"and those worlds have to fall in line or resist."

So, it looks like a lot of Last Jedi

will involve the Resistance the First Order

trying to form alliances with various planets

throughout the galaxy, which is probably where

the casino planet will come into play.

As you may remember, we were treated to

a few sneakily snapped set pics from

the casino planet a few months ago,

showing a bunch of inhabitants dressed in tux and tails.

We're assuming that as a casino planet,

it's hoping to stay neutral in the conflict,

similar to the stance of Bespin,

the home of the galaxy's favorite gambler, Lando Calrissian.

But just as Han and crew headed to Cloud City

in order to get a little help from Lando,

we except General Leia is going to hit up the casino planet

to see if she can sway them to her side of the struggle.

Of course, director Rian Johnson has promised

that The Last Jedi won't suffer from the same complaints of

retread that The Force Awakens did,

which I don't even agree with,

because I freaking loved The Force Awakens.

You guys did too, right?

- [Group] Yes.

- Yes, yes, yeah.

Okay, so according to him,

this movie won't follow the structure of Empire

the way the last one followed the structure of A New Hope.

- It's another Death Star.

- But, we have an inkling this is one place where

the Empire inspiration will be felt pretty hard.

We'd even be willing to bet that the First Order

will be waiting for Leia on the casino planet,

just as Vader was waiting for Han on Bespin.

Gambling never pays off in Star Wars,

or in my life because I tried to play

those cute little kitties, the slot machines,

and I totally lost 40 bucks.

So maybe I needed to cheat,

like that dirty Jedi Qui-Gon Jinn.

Maybe that's the only way I would win, right?

Yeah.

And speaking of dirty Jedi, it goes without saying

that the other half of The Last Jedi

will focus squarely on Luke and Rey.

If the casino planet is the Bespin of the movie,

then Ahch-To will be the Dagobah serving as

the setting for Luke to put Rey through the Jedi wringer

that Yoda put him through in the Empire.

That was my Jedi training.

Yeah, I'm not very good at it.

That's why they call me the Smith Lord, not a Jedi.

So, yeah, the promise that this won't be

an Empire Strikes Back clone seems slightly less likely

now that it looks like both plot strands from that movie.

The Falcon crew looking for help and Luke training as a Jedi

will have direct parallels in The Last Jedi, but whatever.

If you're gonna copy another Star Wars movie,

you might as well copy the best one of the bunch.

- Yes, mm.
