10 o'clock in the evening,I just wake up.. had breakfast..
you know here in Thailand time doesn't have any
sense anymore..anyway..
I got this inspiration..because you see
when I do these videos
I don't think what
I'm gonna do...I just get inspired and I talk about what I feel to talk about
I don't prepare them..I Don't
I don't know..I think writing song should be the same..
Ok you can..
even if you don't have the inspiration you have to do it because
that is your job ..to write a song, and is
never a wasting of time because is gonna
pay off later you know ,in experience and things..but
is true when you got the real inspirations,things works differently...So I just been thinking
about teachers and things like that..I been teaching in my life ..I had that experience
a few years,and then I just moved on ..
also because I changed country a lot so is. .and
you see there are ...
specializations and specializations
you can be a singer you can be a guitar player
you can be a bass player, there are ..
differences,for example
if you are a singer ,better your teacher be good,
be at the top, be where i should be
because it is danger, he could teach you wrong things..guitar player you know you always
have the chance to go out see your friend..hoo I think your teacher is better ..so they always
tell you something you don't know..But really what I think is ..if you really care about
having a teacher ,you should find somebody that is prepared to be a mentor more the a
teacher ,somebody that really somebody that really keep you under his wing and ..teaching
and schoolS should be a place.. and a person that open your mind rather than close it with
informations..he have to teach you how to learn from everything you see..have to teach
you the techniques of learning by yourself you know to see to absorb things..make you
see and understand what is your inclination musically ,artistically...life, you know, and
help you there, that why can not be somebody that is your age just because for example
some time maybe..technically is good can be good,I mean you know those people is good
as a friend , to practice ,to do things together but..and automatically they become teacher
you teach each other that's ok, but when you spend your money and you want to do it seriously
have to be somebody that understood, somebody that have experience.So there is.. is true
there is the right technique and the wrong technique for everything and then then is
your personal technique..we can not really judge that..of course if you go to school
learning guitar the guy will teach you the right technique you know ,if you do scales
to grIp a chord..There is another thing I want to talk about..there are teacher you
know that they think they are avanguard ..and then they say : ah you know the people that
come to school ,i don't know why they waste the time yeah I need the money and things
like that but I don't know why they waste their time, they are arrhythmic they don't
have the timing ,they are not musical you know, why they are coming wasting their time..you
know,they like to have the customer so they make the money pero' (but) they don't believe
in it..That is wrong ,because I have my experience..Somebody that is..
negated really that he can not
...is out of what it is the Music..somebody that is refractory ,refractory ,can't..he
wouldn't feel nothing, he wouldn't even like music, he wouldn't even like to come,why would
he come to lesson..ha maybe is an actor and have to show that is playing the piano in
a movie but...let's get in the normal life,normal people etcetera..if a kid a guy .. a lady..whatever
they feel attracted to music..that is the only thing that matter because it means that
there is something that didn't click in them they go to dance and they move..and they
can not move right and then .. you see them you know ,and some time they don't have ear they
don't have things that you know they inside they feel it..that is the main thing,then
is the teacher if he's got experience if he is good that he is going to find the way..I
had people coming and saying: oh Riki..I don't have the timing I can't keep in time ..I was
starting making them march like a soldier..one..two 1-2 passooh..+1-2-1-2 , why not..they are
obliged, specially if they have been in the army ,
they will..they can not say ah ..I
am arrhythmic I can not come ,you just go I will wait here..you have to do it,so he
can do it ,so you start from there. -------------------and you take it from there.the guy after a week
he does that he can do something more.and then some thing more, and then he would liberate
himself, go to dance and have the rithm that I have now at 63 and I go disco nearly every
night you know. and for the singing ..I am not a singing teacher ,I been to singing lessons,very
good teacher, so I learn and we after the lesson we talking about teaching about dose things..he
was a lot older then me ,that was in Italy and ..Italian teacher of the old days..they
were good in fact this guy did many many good artist in Italy, he had an history you know..
is funny he told me .. you know ..all this little guys they come here they want to learn
how to sing and they say :but I want to sing only this I want to sing only that..he was
telling me you know..I say..yeah..you know
is like somebody that drive a truck and say : yeah I drive a truck but I wanna only transport
melons..or bananas..or apples.. but if you are a singer you sing whatever if you are..
you have to be able...that's when you go at the Idol of this or that.(not that I believe
in that) but any way,when you go they..hit you..they make you work under stress every
thing,you can not do only what you like you understand...so must be a reason, and the
reason there is because music is music , there is not ..if it has the big M is Music so it
got rules you have to stay in what it is, if you are a musician..you are a professionist
you have to wider then that ,then you can concentrate in what you want..you take any of this big
artist I know you'll be ..you would be very very amazed to know what they know..they don't
even show it what they know.. they have in their experience they have a culture musical
that ..you wouldn't even dream about..I'm talking about the real ones eh..any way..where
I was..so you know is , the guy that doesn't have music in it he wouldn't go to lesson,he
wouldn't even think about music he would say: why these people go play why why they don't
go find a job or why don't do something....they would be more technical they would be, good
in their job but music is not part of their cellular system ok.. but is anybody like it
and is attracted to it .. that is the important, then you have to go
and click what is that didn't click you know..maybe their voice is a good voice ,when they talk
they have a good voice and everything and when he sing is like me...all over the places...and
that can be adjust..but he have to love singing, if is like me, if he like to play guitar instead
like me ,I don't care about singing, so I never put...I tooked lessons because
I did seminaries I Was doing seminaries in front o 100-200 people and you know, the singing
lessons help my diaphragm with the emotion because sometime you know the first -second
time oh..you know when you go there is not like playing guitar I go play guitar on stage
I don't care about anything ,I really don't care, what ever...but to go there and have
to talk...with the singing lessons that strengthened my diaphragm so my stomach doesn't get in
and block everything you know what I mean you know.. If you get scared about something
and just for the first 3 - 4 minutes and then hhff and then you keep going they can't stop
me anymore you know... and...
so there is a way that
those teacher if they're good and they understand they fix you ,they
fix somebody up ..That..nobody is in tune by..
I mean, exception again ,don't believe
in exception because exception is not the normality of things is not what happen every
day the exception is what's happen you know..every so often can be good can be bad, like I sed
is not the world,it can change the world but is not forget about the exception ha but that
guy..is he is an exception don't look that you know...
And for the musicality is the
same ,for the ear ,the ear ,if you ..you know I been repairing guitars for 25 years apart
doing the music also on the the side and things like that, I didn't have a perfect pitch I
had it so so but I realized when you are very relaxed and you pick up the guitar and you
know you have to tune it up you already hear the A ,say huy! how come..can I do it for
every note?Then it is up to you it's not important ..I know people are best in the world that
say ..I don't care I don't know, I need the tuner you know.I don't say names but anyway.So
is not important but if you want to do it you can do it..just like going to the gym
you know ,you do anything you know..is the desire ,is the wanting to do for any reason
you have to do it, just because you like it just because you see somebody that do it and excite
you and you want to do it also, very good, that is all positive I think ..the thing is when
you realize and you are my age and say :ah..God I see those people jumping from balcony to
balcony..just stuff in France ,that actually I was in Paris for 5 years ,I been living
there ,doing guitars and playing every night and then I saw the movie of all this people
that ohh why I didn't know all that when I was kid, I would be dead by now because I would
have try for sure...and then I see surfers going surfing I got many friends they all
surfers from Brazil from.. they are all younger then me ,I don't know why keep invite me to
their parties..but i don't feel like I would do it..I like to watch them I am happy for
them..I fill my heart that they can do all those things and then I was in Australia for
long time and the waves are very nasty and you see them wooo! Every one got his own things
you know..so now you are here so means you are into music in production in producing
something in writing it and da dada. ..you know what?..you know what to write...you have
it there ..you feel..I tell you you need a wide..wide ..culture in music you can not
just go for that..yeah ok you can be lucky for a few years and then.You'll do something
else ..is sure of that you know. Now is ok there is all this and this I go disco ,haha, there is
Tekno, there is Hip-hop there is things,I hear some Art ther ..some, Art there ..but
I go for the girl really ..nice girls there you know and..but anyway is s good the rithm is there
make me dance 2-3 hours go ..fhh I lose some pounds there you know..and I enjoy myself..so
means if I do that means the music must be good ..for something ..you know but must be
good ..otherwise I wouldn't be bother and then there is a place that I prefere to another
you know ..and then is a really energetic music because it take energy from you ..sometime
when I go watch all my friends playing because I have many bands I know them all
..and yeah you know ,is good I like that song but I already heard 300 K time and dada is
always that the story..you know..when you end up doing that genre of job ,you don't
realize it, but you become boring without realizing it you know..so instead to change you ..you
change the people you got in front of you..like I say ..instead to go around the world ..you
go in a place where the world goes around you, and that was Paris, and that was London,that
was..those big places where you stay there and you see every day you see somebody that's
coming from...coming from Russia is coming from all the places in the world..you say
ho that's is better than going around myself you know. Anyway so I Say if you can afford
or you lucky you find somebody that is just a friend or a friend of your father friend
..I don't know That ..it take you under and he really is a teacher that got the spirit
of that ..he can be a mentor for you he see life he see things ..doesn't have to be a
musician doesn't have to be ...some time they're are not even..I know..I had experience
of going around the world there are people..they never did one session on stage in their life
and they are amazing players..but they are bank managers, they are lawyers ,they are doctors..they
ar...but when they play their instrument they really sit you down you know..so don't think
that only the people you see in tv are the real musicians ..they are the musician...that
is market.you see from the moment that music become an industry ..for me shouldn't ever
been like that...we start to compromise there because...a friend of mine was saying :Riki
I think ..when the banks start coming in ,the art is finished.I don't know if he is wrong
really ,because art is like anything else ..art it can be bought and sold and infected
and should have been left alone where it go you know,and I wrote something
in FB just yesterday i think I say ..ah yes I know why..because I saw this idol of mine
a guitar player you know and he was talking about today ..he is old now you know but he
is been great great ..great experience to follow him all these years and he is little
bit disillusioned from where music is going and I wrote ..not to him,I wrote to YT but
like if I was talking to him..I said :John..you been my idol and you still are ..but things
..change you can not help it you know ,things change and not always for the better but they
change so in the end you will have to ..we will have to wait for the next train ..catch
the next train and maybe is gonna be better if you don't like what is happening now ...but
I have to say another thing there is art every where and in every time ..you have to be able
to digged out ..you have to be able to know..I can hear any music any any ,I like Arabic
music ..Middle East..Indian..everyting... end when I hear some Hip Hop..and say wow..the
guy had an idea ther ..listen that bass. I mean you know I am..SENSITIVE to those things...if
you learn that and you can hear the music wherever it is and the art and you know...:that
is been made up and that is coming from the Art..that is coming from the experience and
technique nana..yes still works but you can..is like recognizing when you play your instrument
..I am a guitarist mainly..I can hear what is the sound of the strings ,I can hear what
is the sound of the guitar I can hear what is the sound of the pre amp and I can hear
what is the sound of the power amp and finally I can hear
what the sound of the speaker
I can divide.. oh these strings they have this sound..
Why .it couldn't be the speaker?..no no no these are the strings,....I know
Oh..the pick up ...listen this pick up..How you can hear is the pick-up and is not the speaker
Whey!..I don't know ,that's my talent..I can hear it ,that's why I do what I do.......and
And...and now..we go back
You know I don't wont to go back in the discussion of the speakers that is very complex
Talking about sounds and speakers and things
wuff I don't know how long it takes,but you see
you have to understand

For me a good reference is : you have a microphone..

and we were selling them to the Luna Parks to all this places

all American stuff..very good
and..but we were the first in Europe to reach that
..that wattage..and we were making also speakers
so I been in speakers and doing that and that
but then..for reasons..

I can not play guitar ddd..so I go and doing something that
is a good idea but..to a certain point .
is better to aim directly where you wanna go .

I join one of the best quartet in Europe..for the time
doing night clubs..working every night.. like a brick lier he ..

all the problems of don't knowing my life what is gonna be
and ..that's great.so playing as a musician
I can really..suggest it to everybody because
You learn life you know..after awhile
you do it...and start learning life you know.

because they think they are expert.
it's not only your experience, is also
sometime you need part of your body
that they don't work anymore so that's why
we go..retirement..we call it retirement..is time to retire

to somebody else because is not

is a stress that you gonna pay later

the teacher..ah don't worry it hurt but keep doing

he will teach you in a smart way..and teach you a
smart way to learn
without jeopardizing other things

anyway..they have to work more hard than the other

I am working every night you study more
then there's the other instead that start
doing drug..you know and go the other way
but,you know..could hurt you, depend
depend how much prepared you are with the

I know guitar players more than others
they all did big things already when they were in their teens
they didn't wait that they wer 20 - 25..30..
and then they made it..yeah maybe there is somebody
but they were..because life brought them there
you know..life brought to them
the..the opportunity
and of course they took it ,
and they love what they were doing
and of course they do it better
if they could have study one hour because
because..that was what they were doing before
knowing that tomorrow we have another gig
so..you study 2 hours..you get more..is
easier you know to do..work more
because you got the..the return straight away you know
and that is the incentivisation you know
you know..the carrot you know somebody
workhard ,work hard ,work hard
and have this carrot like a donkey you know
and keep walking and the carrot..keep going.
that is what's happen to many of us
many many..many people that do
that have a dream..that is the
the cost of dreams
and what we gonna do..we won't sleep anymore..?
