5 Unexpected Ways Emotional Pain Affects Your Health

If you're like everyone else, you're probably more aware of your physical problems than your emotional pain.

The latter stands out more than the former but has equally serious consequences.

What makes it worse is that we tend to track our physical instead of our emotional health.

Here are a few effects of emotional pain, backed by science.

Emotional pain is sometimes worse than physical pain

You probably attend physical check-ups regularly, but you may find psychological checks completely foreign.

Still, they are as, if not more important.

A small cut may become infected if you do not medicate it.

In the same way, a psychological wound may worsen, if neglected, and grow into depression.

But you may find emotional pain harder to bear than physical hurt, and here's why.

First of all, emotional pain recurs, unlike a physical injury.

The cut you get fall will hurt for a time, but you'll forget about it after it heals.

Conversely, you'll feel upset each time you recall a sad event.

Quite oddly, physical pain brings emotional relief.

It explains why some teens and adults practice self-harm.

Depression, however, doesn't relieve you in the same way.

You cannot lessen the pain of childbirth by recalling a breakup.

It will worsen the experience.

Because it isn't tangible, a rejection won't get you as much empathy as a car accident.

In fact, studies show that people always undervalue the emotional pain of others.

Also, emotional pain echoes loudly and lasts.

A little boy is likely to continue playing football after an injury.

But a person isn't likely to enjoy Christmas again if they received a call about his or her parent's passing on that day.

Finally, a potential employer's rejection will damage your self-esteem, but not a fall.

A put down from a boss will make a person lose their self-confidence and become reserved.

Conversely, you'll pick yourself up quickly after a fall (provided it's not too serious) and move on.

5 Unexpected Ways Emotional Pain Affects Your Health

The spirit, body, and mind share a deep connection.

You need all three to keep your body in tip-top shape.

Your cardiovascular, digestive, immune and respiratory systems receive the impact when any of them break down.

Studies prove that emotional issues cause physical pain.

1.

Emotional pain can affect your stomach.

First of all, relax, or you may develop a tummy ache.

The stress of overwrought emotions can take a toll on your stomach.

If neglected, these stomach issues can become chronic.

Research finds that social stress can cause teenagers to develop abdominal problems.

Scientists examined three different adolescents and found that in all three cases, excessive social anxiety caused stress and abdominal

pain.

2.

It affects your digestion

Do you feel a gripping pain in your tummy when frustration takes over?

Emotional pain can also affect your digestive tract.

It inflames the gastrointestinal tract, bringing on diarrhea, bloating and gas.

It triggers the 'flight or fight' response that you'll experience when threatened.

Your muscles will contract, making you more susceptible to digestion.

A study shows that stress may trigger acid reflux, irritable bowel syndrome, and peptic ulcers.

3.

Emotional pain can cause weight gain

You may reach for a bag of chips when you need comfort, but it's not a good practice.

It's how your stress or angst causes you to gain weight.

When you experience anguish, your body secretes cortisol, the stress-easing hormone.

It causes your body to store fat.

The fat includes visceral fat, which envelops organs.

It creates fatty acids, which enter your blood and raise your cholesterol.

This study illustrates the close relationship between mood, stress, and food.

4.

People With Emotional Issues Have Sleep Problems

Also, personal problems and stress are not good for sleep.

Your anxiety makes you toss and turn.

According to this study, painful life events cause chronic sleep loss.

5.

Emotional disturbances cause tension headaches

Finally, you may have already noticed that your tension headaches develop when a sad event occurs.

Stress is a top cause of tension headaches, as science proves.

A study finds that they occur more often among those with depression than those who don't suffer from it.

Managing Your Emotional Pain

You can't get rid of deep, personal issues at the drop of a hat, but you can ease their effect on you.

You may find these useful strategies balms for your emotional injuries.

First of all, rejection can cause you to question yourself.

You may start to doubt yourself over something as trivial as losing a friend on Facebook.

To ease the hurt, don't turn to self-criticism.

Instead, focus on your strengths and seek support from your loved ones.

Furthermore, a tragic loss can destroy your positive thoughts about the world.

Experts like Guy Winch, author of Emotional First Aid, suggest that you should cope with it as you usually would.

Also, give yourself time to heal.

You may have the self-defeating habit of going over your mistakes all the time.

It causes you to relive the pain of your unpleasant experiences.

Realize that others may not see the world in the same way you do.

Remember that they may not think about your mistake as much as yourself.

Finally, everyone finds failure hard to bear.

The best way to deal with it is to seek the advice of others who can help you regain your self-confidence.

They'll help you realize that one failure doesn't mean that you'll fail in all areas of your life.

In all, you take care of yourself physically when you take care of your emotional health.

Are you destined to have Darshan of Vaheguru in this life? Mohali Seminar Q&A Part 1 - Duration: 4:36.

The answer to this is when we take Amrit

Guru Sahib is limitlessly wise

He is an ocean of wisdom

If he has given us Amrit

meaning he has accepted us

Otherwise he wouldn't give us Amrit in the first place

If we obtain Satguru jee, meaning if we take Amrit

then we become Guru-Valay, then without a doubt

Darshan of Akal Purakh is written in our destiny

Now it depends on us and how much effort we put in

If we do effort then in one life Darshan is possible

It is fully possible, Gursikhs tell us

if we take Amrit and we just take it easy and don't do effort

even then, within 3 lives you will obtain Vaheguru jee's Darshan

Otherwise Guru Sahib wouldn't accept us

Because what is Guru Sahib doing when we take Amrit?

Our part in this is very easy

All we have to do is keep a few Rehits

But Guru Sahib's part is very hard, not difficult for Guru Sahib, but from our perspective it is very hard

We have taken countless Janam

We have taken so many lives we can't even count them

In each of those lives to count how many Karams we have done is totally impossible

So if we were to count, there would not be as much ocean as there are our Argun

and bad Karams

Now when Guru Sahib is going to make someone Mukt

Guru Sahib erases all of those Karams

Guru Sahib has blessed us with a detergent to do this erasing in the from of Naam

With this Guru Sahib erases our millions upon millions of bad Karams

This is Guru Sahib's part

So our part is very easy, we just have to follow Hukam

It is Guru Sahib's contract to make us Mukt

So when Sachay Patshah accepts someone

Guru Sahib agrees to give us Amrit

Guru Sahib know's his contract is to make us Mukt in one life

So how do we get Mukt?

There are mountains upon mountains of Karams

So how are they eliminated?

Even if there is this much, atrocious suffering, many murders

life filled with poverty

and you have many problems

If this much is all together then how does it get erased?

Everything gets erased by chanting Naam

Paavak means fire and Kaasht means wood

Even if there is so much wood put together fire turns it all to ashes

same way Naam erases all of our Paap and bad Karam

This is how Mukti is possible

What happens before Mukti?

No matter if we are a Manmukh or a Gurmukh

from here we all have to go to Dargah

One is Vaheguru's Dargah in Sachkhand and the other is Dharamraj's Dargah

everyone has to go to Dharamraj regardless if they are Manmukh or Gurmukh

All of our accounts are stored over there

When we Jap Naam all of our Karam's are destroyed

When Gursikhs go to that Dargah their records are not found there

Their accounts or records are not there

due to which Dharamraj has to let them go

They then go to upper realms of which they are deserving

Some go to SharamKhand, KaramKhand or Sachkhand

For those who have their records there, the judgement is done at that time

So by Japping Naam here our Karams are erased from our Antish Karan

and from the Dargah of Dharamraj our record is erased as well

due to which we can go to upper realms

Trump admits to Fox & Friends that he may have tried to intimidate James Comey - Duration: 3:32.

Trump admits to Fox & Friends that he may have tried to intimidate James Comey

In his first interview in over a month, President Donald Trump admitted to Fox News Ainsley

Earhardt that he only had claimed to have taped conversations of James Comey because

he hoped to influence his testimony before Congress.

When he found out that there may be tapes out there?

? whether its governmental tapes or anything else, and who knows?

? I think his story may have changed, Trump said.

Youll have to take a look at that because then he has to tell what actually took place

at the events.

And my story didnt change?

? my story was always a straight story; my story always was the truth.

But youll have to determine for yourself whether or not his story changed, but I did

not tape.

The president acknowledged on Thursday that he was not in possession of any recordings

of his former FBI director.

But Trumps reasoning for saying that he had recordings remained a mystery until

Friday, of course, when Fox News aired an interview of the president, saying he had

wanted to keep Comey honest.

Trumps statement was especially bizarre considering part of it directly contradicted

hi past statements.

Trump suggested in his interview with Earhardt that his strategy worked because Comey did

not change his story.

Earlier this month, Trump accused Comey of lying under oath to Congress.

During a news conference with the Romanian president inside the White House Rose Garden,

Trump said that Comey made false statements in his testimony and that he was willing to

provide his own, truthful version of events under oath.

The Fox & Friends interview, his first since he told NBCs Lester Holt that Comey

was fired over the Russia inquiry, touched on topics beyond witness tampering and collusion

investigations.

Heres some highlights of the interview:

Trump declares victory in difficult health care situation

Earhardt asked the president about the new health care bill in the Senate.

Trump answered by declaring himself a legislative genius.

Health care is a very difficult situation, he said.

We are trying to do something in a very short time.

Ive been here for five months.

Well, Ive done in five months what other people havent done in years.

In March Trump had said that a health care deal would be easy.

Millions of Americans are contemplating the prospect of possibly losing health care insurance

should the Republican-supported bill pass.

The president gloats over Democratic losses

Fox News devoted one question in the Trump interview to House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi,

whose leadership role has come into question after Democrats recently lost another series

of special elections.

I hope she doesnt step down, the president said.

It would be a very sad day for Republicans if she steps down.

I would be very, very disappointed if she did.

I would like to keep her right where she is because our record is extraordinary against

her.

The victory in Atlanta was very big, he added, referring to Karen Handels victory

in Georgias 6th Congressional District.

I helped a lot and we had a great candidate.

Over 40 terrorists have 'used human rights law to remain in UK' - Duration: 3:42.

Over 40 terrorists have 'used human rights law to remain in UK'

MORE than 40 foreign terrorists have allegedly used human rights law to remain in the UK, according to an unpublished report delayed by the Home Office.

The study reportedly shows that in court cases, lawyers - typically funded through legal aid - have successfully prevented foreign-born terror suspects from being sent back to their home countries.

Details are included in a report into a scheme called Deportation with Assurances (DWA). The report was ordered by Theresa May when she was the Home Secretary.

However, the report could be set to embarrass Theresa May as it allegedly highlights the ineffectiveness of the DWA scheme, which she pushed while in the Home Office.

The DWA scheme led to the removal of Abu Qatada, an al-Qaeda-linked cleric who was sent back to Jordan in 2013 to stand trial on terrorist offences.

But since Qatada's case, it is understood that no other foreign terror suspects have been returned under the scheme. The analysis of the scheme was delivered to the Home Office in February.

It was carried out by David Anderson QC, the then independent reviewer of terrorism legislation, and co-written with Professor Clive Walker, an international law expert.

Prof Walker told the Sunday Telegraph: "My research suggests there are more than 40 foreign terrorists convicted in the UK who have avoided deportation using the Human Rights Act. The figure is much larger than was previously thought.

"The report is finished. It is a substantial piece of work. David [Anderson] has produced other reports critical or not of the Government which have always been published.

"My role in it was to compile a detailed description of the rules and regulations about deportation with assurances. I still think the Home Office wish to pursue DWA.".

Jihadists with links to the failed July 21 bomb plot in 2005 and an Algerian terrorist imprisoned for funding al-Qaeda training camps are among those reported to have used the Human Rights Act to resist deportation.

Siraj Yassin Abdullah Ali avoided deportation and was released in 2011 after serving just half of his nine-year sentence for helping the July 21 bombers.

The UK Government tried to deport Ali to his native Eritrea but was prevented from doing so because he faced "inhumane treatment or punishment" if sent back.

Lord Carlile, Mr Anderson's predecessor as the independent reviewer of terror legislation, has called for a shift in the interpretation of the Human Rights Act to enable more suspects to be deported.

He said: "The attacks in recent months demonstrates the need to protect the public and that this should outweigh the human rights of terrorists.

Team New Zealand insist they have the boat to win the America's Cup - Duration: 3:57.

Team New Zealand insist they have the boat to win the America's Cup

Team New Zealand helmsman Peter Burling believes his boat still has some gains to make in the Americas Cup final. Team New Zealand insist they have the boat to get the job done in Bermuda.

That was the reassuring message from helmsman Peter Burling as edgy Kiwis fans digested Team New Zealands first loss to Oracle Team USA in the Americas Cup match in Bermuda.

Emirates Team New Zealand had their lead cut to 4-1 on the third day of the match in Bermuda on Sunday.

It wasnt all plain sailing for Emirates Team New Zealand on the third day of the Americas Cup match against Oracle Team USA in Bermuda.

The defenders returned from a five-day break with a far more competitive boat to snatch a crucial win off Burlings crew and evoke memories of their miracle comeback in San Francisco four years ago.

But the ultra-cool Burling didnt appear flustered by Oracles speed, content with Aotearoas pace on a day where he felt he and his sailors had let down the radical boat with their own indifferent efforts.

We know if we sail well we have a really good boat, a really good tool that will get the job done. Thats what we are concentrating on at the moment, Burling said.

We felt like the boat was going really well. We are really happy with the speed. It felt like when we put the boat into a (wind) shift it went well and it was obviously incredibly shifty out there today..

Not a perfect day on the water for Team NZ, but theyre still ahead 4-1 in the Americas Cup final.

After smashing Oracle by 2m 4s in the first race on Sunday, Burling let Jimmy Spithill escape his grasp in the second race and paid the price with an 11s loss.

Spithill split tacks on the final upwind beat and found one of those windshifts out to the left of the course to erase Team New Zealands handy lead and gain control over the final two legs to claim a treasured win to get Oracle back into the match.

There is no panic in the Kiwi camp, just a determination to sail better as Burling pointed to some sloppy foiling tacks on the leg where Spithill caught them.

Peter Burling hot-steps across the trampoline aboard Aotearoa on Sunday. The whole time these boats have been relatively similar, Burling said.

We obviously had a pretty good edge last weekend. But that shows with how you sail the boat and with how you mode it for a particular wind strength, you can make the boat go significantly faster and slower.

We felt like we didnt sail overly well today. But we still felt like we had plenty of speed, if we put it in the right place on the race course, to take wins.

And we feel like we have still got plenty to come. Having cruised through five consecutive wins, the loss might be a reality check the Kiwis need.

The worry is handing any sort of momentum to Spithill who has a proven record of fighting till the very end. But Burling made it clear that was what they were always anticipating from the outset of this grudge match.

We have set up for a good battle and we feel like we have got one. Were just excited to get back into it, Burling said. It showed today that there was great racing out there with plenty of lead changes.

It was a bit of a shame we threw away that last race after having a bit of a lead halfway up the last beat. But thats yacht racing, thats sport and we are going to be out there fighting tomorrow..

Ivanka Trump will have to testify in copy-cat shoe case - Duration: 4:04.

Ivanka Trump will have to testify in copy-cat shoe case

Aquazzura Italia SRL issued a trademark infringement lawsuit against Donald Trump's daughter and her company, IT Collection LLC, last year.

Aquazzura requested to question Trump before a trial, but her legal team asked the judge to rule that she doesn't have to testify.

The shoes produced by Aquazzura cost more than $780, while Ivanka's shoes are being sold for a much lower price – $150.

The case, which seeks unspecified damages, focuses on Trump's Hettie shoe which Aquazzura claim is "virtually identical" to their "wildly popular" Wild Thing shoe. Ivanka Trump's lawyers have staunchly denied those allegations, according to court documents.

"The shoe in question is representative of a trending fashion style, is not subject to intellectual property law protection and there are similar styles made by several major brands", he said. Her lawyers have also said the lawsuit is a publicity stunt.

ABC News reports that Ivanka filed a declaration in court last week that claims she is the former president of IT Collection LLC after taking on a role in the White House.

Aquazurra's attorneys beg to differ, citing a time she publicly declared that "There's not a shoe I'm not intimately involved in designing". The lawyers also said that Trump should be exempt because of her "special circumstances".

"In such a situation a deposition is appropriate", she continued. Lawyers for Trump did not immediately return a request for comment. "Ms.

Trump's public statements regarding active and comprehensive brand management lead to a reasonable inference that the shoe at issue would not have been released without her approval", the judge said.

The judge limited the deposition to two hours, said it would have to occur in Washington if Trump wishes, and gave the two sides until late October to schedule it.

Manchester United aim to have Alvaro Morata transfer finalised nextweek - Duration: 2:08.

Manchester United aim to have Alvaro Morata transfer finalised next week

Manchester United will hold further talks with Real Madrid next week with the aim of finalising a deal for Alvaro Morata, according to reports.

United have had a £60 million bid rejected for the Spain international, while Madrid are standing firm over their £70m valuation.

The Sunday Express claims that United want to conclude a deal before pre-season training begins on July 3, meaning that they only have next week to negotiate if they want to stick to that timescale.

Reports elsewhere have already claimed that Morata has agreed to join Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford on a five-year contract.

Last week, reports in Spain claimed that Madrid had told United that they would not lower their asking price for the 24-year-old and would happily keep the striker at the Santiago Bernabeu for another season.

Morata, however, is reportedly keen to leave Madrid in order secure regular football, which he hopes will boost his chances of starting for Spain at the World Cup next year.

Mourinho is said to have recognised this and has called Morata to promise him that he will be an important part of his plans at United.

The Sunday Express also reports that United will continue negotiations with Inter over a deal for Ivan Perisic.

A £35m bid for the Croatia international has been rejected but Inter are under pressure to sell one of their key players before the end of the month due to Financial Fair Play regulations.

Love Island spoiler Have Marcel Somerville and Gabby Allen become the second Love Island stars to ha - Duration: 4:22.

Love Island spoiler: Have Marcel Somerville and Gabby Allen become the second Love Island stars to have sex in the Hideaway?

PASSIONS continue to grow on Love Island – and now Gabby Allen and Marcel Somerville have spent a night together in the Hideaway. Marcel was able to convince Gabby that they needed some time alone together.

Marcel and Gabby have spent a night together in the Hideaway on Love Island. So the pair camped in the Hideaway together – but had an unexpected guest during the night.

"Obviously me and Gabs, we're getting along really well. I'm not trying to force nothing or anything like that, but is it possible for me to get the Hideaway tonight?" Marcel requests in scenes that will air on Sunday night.

"Just so we can have a nice, intimate, personal night. Not saying that there's going to be any sex going on as obviously I don't want to rush nothing," he adds.

He then pitches the idea to Gabby, saying: "would you like to go to the Hideaway with me tonight? Promise you, I'm a gentleman forever. Gabby borrowed some underwear for her night alone with Marcel.

Marvel vowed not to do anything Gabby didnt want to do.

Marcel was very excited to ask Gabby to join him in the Hideaway. Gabby agrees to the night together, and declares:  "I'm really excited. You can't just do that to me. We have to prepare.".

Olivia then lets Gabby borrow some underwear for the night – and playfully asks: "do you feel like you're losing your virginity all over again, it's like you're 18?".

Embarrassed, Gabby replies: "No because I'm not going to be losing anything apart from…".

The couple will be seen growing closer.

But the romance is almost spoiled by the arrival of an angry bee.

The couple must work together to get the bee out of the love nest. But Montana jokingly butts in: "your knickers. As Marcel and Gabby prepare to bunk down together they are rudely interrupted by an aggressive bee.

"Oh my god this is the worst night of my life. Gabs, this is the worst night of our lives. There's another one over there. How do I open the door? This is my worst nightmare.

There's got to be a way to get this out," Marcel says, dealing with the situation.

The pair lay down in bed together after the bee terror.

It looks like Marcel and Gabs will get on just fine in the love pad.   Gabby and Amber talk about Marcel on Love Island.

The following morning, speculation is rife that the pair have become the second couple to make love on the island – following Dom and Jessica.

"I think like, surely you would if you had the hideaway but then I'm not sure. you should have seen Gabs before she left. You should have seen the underwear Gabs had on," Montana suggests to Dom.

Tune in to Love Island on ITV2 at 9pm to discover if the pair have indeed done the deed.
