How to smile

It's... always the same.

One minute you have a smile on your face;

the next - the entire world is crumbling and collapsing under your feet.

A call, a message, a conversation... and everything falls apart.

It takes so little to tip over the edge.

To get thrown reeling into the abyss of your thoughts.

It's... always the same.

So.. Weep. Weep, wail and cry havoc to your heart's content.

Weep for minutes, hours, days.

As long as you need.

Find these positions that make you feel... "good".

Splayed across the bed,

sinking into the sofa,

rooted on the living room floor,

on the bathroom tiles.

Sometimes curled up in despair.

Surrender of your own volition, with reckless abandon even,

to one or two of those "bad" habits that always rear their heads when things are awry.

Indulge in the cravings of your body with an opulent meal.

Retrieve a lost sense of control by picking your face, your hair, your head.

Sleep. Sleep a lot.

Sleep too much.

No, do not relish in guilt for seeking in dreams that which has been lost in reality.

Make peace with those little evils.

The pain is here, whether you try to repress it or not.

So... for now... accept it.

And then, one day, start slowing down.

Slow down and begin to reel in your excesses.

Abide the bare necessities.

Listen to your body as it talks to you.

Because when it's talking to you, it is reminding you that it's here.

That it's alive.

That you are alive.

I'm thirsty

I'm hungry.

I'm satiated

Half a glass is plenty.

I had enough sleep.

Take care of yourself.

Read a captivating book,

massage the very hand that you flung towards a wall in a bout of anger and anguish.

Try to go out,

let a warm ray of sunlight caress your face.

Be open to the beauty of people, things, leaves and branches.

Marvel in front of that very beauty and strength manifested by the indomitable will to live of the teeny tiny plant that has chosen to grow in the middle of a tiled floor despite all odds.

And finally,

make yourself pretty.

Dress up, don some makeup if you want.

But mostly, try to to put on a little smile.

Not necessarily a big smile,

not even necessarily a sincere one,

just, a little smile.

Try keeping it for a few seconds.

A few seconds

A few seconds seconds more each time.

Yes.

Like that.

Bravo.

Pst, you know, when I see a video that makes me think of a friend, I send it to her and we talk about it.

What about you, do you have friends who this video made you think of ? Send it to them !

0012 Excel Shortcuts: How to Zoom In or Out - Duration: 2:33.

How many times have you received a spreadsheet only to have a really hard

time reading it because the text was way too small? It happens to me all the time,

and the first thing I do is zoom in to the correct level. That's exactly what I'm

going to teach you in this video.

♪ [music] ♪

What's wrong with this picture? If you can read any of this, then I'm extremely

impressed. This is way too small, and the only thing we can possibly do before doing

anything else is zooming in, right? That is such a key thing that so many of my

clients somehow seem to forget, and they make it really difficult for me to

actually read what they're actually using on a daily basis. So don't ever make it

hard for someone to read your spreadsheet. Always zoom in very,

very nice and big, but not too big because then you can't see everything that you

want to see. So that's pretty much the essence of this video. And the way to do

this with the keyboard is, on the PC, it's Alt+W+Q will get you to this zoom

window. You can use any one of these presets. You can use up and down arrows to

select them. You can use the Alt and then one of those numbers or letters that's

corresponding to the underlined section, and it will jump to that spot.

And if you want to type in your own number, I like 125, and hit Enter,

it will now jump to that specific zoom. On a Mac, what you need to do is actually

customize your keyboard shortcut. There is a separate video. Check out the

description of this video and click on the link for detailed, step by step

instructions. In this case, it is Control+Shift+Q, and the Q looks like a

little magnifying glass. So you're like Sherlock Holmes for a day and you want to

say, "Hey, where's my magnifying glass?" That's how I actually figure out how to

zoom in with that keyboard shortcut. If you want another way to do this,

you can actually press and hold the Control key and then scroll up and down to

zoom in and out. That's actually how I've been doing it. You may not have even

noticed, but that's how I did it. Here are a couple exercises to reinforce these

shortcuts and help you practice them. So on the tab itself, on the name of it,

it tells you how much you need to zoom in to. Go ahead and use those shortcuts.

In this case, on a PC, Alt+W+Q. Hit Tab to move to this next box and then type in 400

and then hit Enter, and you're going to get to the right spot.

Again, just follow the prompts on each of these, and you'll get to the right

approach. And that way, you can practice all of these shortcuts to your heart's

content. Don't forget to visit excelshir.com where you can download these

exercises along with other free resources such as keyboard shortcut cheat sheets for

both PC and Mac. Thank you for watching, and I'll see you next time.

And do me a favor. Share that Excel love.

5 AMAZING FUTURISTIC VEHICLES That Could Change How We Travel #16 - Duration: 10:04.

5 Amazing Futuristic Vehicles that could change how we travel.

No. 5 Toyota FCV Plus Hydrogen Fuel Cell concept car.

Having developed its Fuel Cell Vehicle (FCV) from concept to fully fledged production,

Toyota subsequently unveiled the FCV Plus.

In addition to being hydrogen-powered, the FCV Plus was designed to be a power source itself.

It effectively becomes a mobile power source, able to be used as a "stable source of electric

power" for the home, to feed back into the grid or to charge other cars.

Along with other components, including the drivetrain, The fuel cell stack of the FCV

Plus has been miniaturized, while still allowing it to be spacious inside.

Toyota characterizes it as being the length of a compact car with the cabin of a large

saloon, and I'm pretty sure they meant sedan because a saloon on wheels does not sound

a good idea.

The fuel efficiency of the vehicle is improved as a result of the lower weight afforded by

its smaller parts and aerodynamic design.

It is also said to be well balanced as a result of its major components being split between

both the front and rear ends.

Elsewhere, all four wheels of the FCV Plus boasts in-wheel motors, and it has near-panoramic visibility.

No. 4: The Scorpion 3 Hoverbike

The Scorpion 3 was designed to look like a heavy-duty sport-utility motorbike combined

with flight qualities which provide speed and maneuvering.

The machine basically surfs through the air by changing altitude and direction.

The SCORPION platform is a single-seat aircraft and a unique electric-powered vessel combining

a motorcycle seat with quadcopter drone technology bringing speed agility and stability of flight

to the hands of amateur and professional navigators.

For the moment, the SCORPION platform is increasingly seen as an extreme sports instrument, yet

the vessel's transportation potential remains quite evident.

No. 3: Mini's transparent concept car.

It's impossible to miss the striking transparency of its front and spartan minimalism of its interior.

Where other cars have instrument clusters, this Mini has a single bar, which accommodates

just two components: the steering wheel, which can slide across between passengers, and that

iconic round speedometer.

A much larger circular arrangement is positioned where the engine would usually be — this

is an all-electric vehicle, because BMW firmly believes that electric cars are the future of mobility.

It's entirely about car-sharing.

The idea is that the vehicle could be called to your location with an app, arriving autonomously,

ready for your use — no need to own one.

The entire car adapts to whoever is currently using it.

The silver exterior acts as a projection screen, letting the driver change colors and patterns on the fly.

Want a Mini in solid red?

Covered in stripes or plads?

And once you have your Mini preferences set, they'll be stored in the cloud and automatically

restored to the Mini that recognizes you.

It's all a little far-out, but then again, it kind of isn't: BMW (and the auto industry

at large) have started taking car sharing very, very seriously.

No. 1: Volocopter VC200

March 30, 2016 marked the first manned flight of the Volocopter VC 200.

The flight was totally awesome" says Alex Zosel right after his landing.

"The machine was absolutely reliable, there were no vibrations, it was tremendous."

One significant advantage of the Volocopter is its ability to be operated unmanned.

This allowed the e-volo development team to fly the new aircraft from the ground via remote

control with a special permit during the test flights.

The flight characteristics can be predetermined by altering the parameters in the control

software.

The goal is to program the Volocopter as a sporty and agile aircraft while also preventing

unsafe flight maneuvers, no matter how aggressively the pilot operates the joystick.

How to Make Brazilian Cheese Bread 一口芝士包 (Pão de Queijo) - Duration: 2:40.

Hello Everyone, welcome to the uTry.it Channel. This is Amy Tong.

Today, I want to share with you this fun and delicious recipe, that is made with the real Parmesan Cheese.

This naturally gluten-free bread is crispy on the outside and slightly chewy on the inside.

It's packed with wonderful cheesy flavors.

Follow me to the kitchen and I'll show you how to make this Brazilian Cheese Bread.

Pre-heat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.

How can you tell if you are getting the real Parmigiano-Reggiano Cheese?

The authentic one will have the name imprinted on the rind.

For this recipe, we will need 1 cup of freshly grated Parmesan cheese.

I'm also adding 1 cup of grated Gruyere cheese, which has a stronger nutty flavor.

We also need 2 large eggs. Give them a quick whisk and stir them into the cheese.

Gently toss them together until everything is well incorporated.

In a medium saucepan, heat up 1 cup of milk, 8 tablespoons of butter, and 1 teaspoon of kosher salt.

Heat the mixture over medium-low heat until the butter is completely melted.

Remove your saucepan from the heat.

Next, we will need 3 cups of tapioca flour.

The tapioca flour is gluten free and it's nice and smooth.

I will list the product information below this video for your reference.

Stir the tapioca flour into the milk mixture with a wooden spoon, 1 cup at a time.

Next, stir in the cheese mixture into the flour mixture, stir until everything is well combined.

Your dough should be nice and gooey, and thick.

Grease a mini cupcake or muffin pan with cooking spray.

The easiest way is to use a 1 tablespoon ice cream scoop to scoop your batter into the cupcake pan.

Bake in the preheated oven for 18 to 20 minutes, or until the crust is slightly golden brown.

Let the bread cool down for a few minutes before serving.

This bite-sized snack is so delicious! It's crispy on the outside and slightly chewy on the inside.

It's packed with the wonderful Parmesan cheese flavor!

No wonder they are my family's favorite savory snacks!

I hope you enjoyed today's tutorial and will give this recipe a try real soon.

has happened to the phone however phones are known to be victims of malware

although malware do not pose a significant threat to your device

third time purposely deleting and downloading the Spotify APK when Simran

brought it to my attention that he actually caught a malware from this

How to Deal With Rush Hour, Traffic Congestion and Slow Downs | New Driver Smart - Duration: 14:18.

Hi there smart driver. Rick with Smart Drive Test talking to you today about congestion and traffic

slowdowns which usually happen on highways freeways and interstates. If you

drive on the MA long enough you will experience slow down or backups due to

traffic crashes traffic volume or stuff falling off the back of the truck or

other people and animals being on the roadway where there shouldn't be so it

is going to happen now just before we get started here make sure you hit that

subscribe button down over about there if you're working towards the license or

start of your career as a truck or bus driver hit that subscribe button get all

the great information as I get it available to you now traffic congestion

a couple of recent trips one in Vancouver I experienced traffic back up

actually it was one of the few times the traffic actually came to a standstill

and I actually turned around and went back and found it an alternative route

in Toronto I experienced back up on the Gardiner Expressway and in a recent trip

there and it was simply due to traffic volume so we're going to talk about

traffic volume today back up and what you do in that situation to sort of calm

yourself down not get excited because unfortunately what happens in traffic

congestion is that you don't know what's going on you don't know whether it's due

to traffic volume you don't know whether it's due to a crash or some other

unforeseen event such as the sinkhole here in Vernon BC that we've recently

had here in the spring due to all the water we had recently so stick around

we'll be right back with that information

smart drivers welcome back work with smart drive test talking to you today

about traffic congestion yes at certain times of the day you are going to have

traffic congestion in and around large metropolitan areas regardless of where

you are in the world London in England Cincinnati in the United States you know

the state of Ohio Vancouver British Columbia Canada Toronto Ontario Canada

all these large metropolitan cities are going to have interstates motorways and

freeways and those freeways without fail during the business days of the week are

going to have rush hours in the morning and in the afternoon and years ago when

I drove truck into Toronto eastbound on the 401 we had a saying that if you

didn't get past the 299 which was the big Snider's meet sign by 5:00 o'clock

in the morning you were going to sit in traffic in Toronto and for those of you

haven't been to Toronto Toronto through Toronto is eight lanes of traffic going

east and west there are four through lanes the Express lanes and then there

are four collector lanes if you've been to any of the big US cities most of the

big US cities have ring roads which means their freeways going around the

city that moved to facilitate traffic flow in and around the city and I have

sat in Atlanta Georgia on six lanes of traffic interstate traffic going in

either direction in bumper-to-bumper traffic in the afternoon during rush

hour so the first defense against sitting in traffic and experiencing

traffic congestion is to plan the time of your trip if at all possible avoid

seven o'clock to ten o'clock in the morning because if you travel on an

interstate in and around a metropolitan area between 7:00 and 10:00 in the

morning you know you're going to sit in traffic likewise if you're heading out

of the metropolitan area in the afternoon between 3 and 6:30 you also

know that there's going to be congestion there's going to be rush-hour so plan

your trip accordingly do not try and come out of the city between three and

six thirty in the afternoon now that's going to vary a little bit depending on

which fault in an area you are in and around

and you will get to know that if you are driving in and out of the city for work

every day now if you are driving in and out of the major metropolitan area from

the outer suburbs or one of the communities one of the what they call

bedroom communities where people live and sleep and so then then commute into

town there are alternative forms of transportation I mean in Toronto they

have the GO train and lots of transit systems will allow you to have Park and

Ride where you can park your vehicle and then take the train or the local transit

system into town that's an alternative now if you do end up sitting in traffic

and do commute into town every day you know that so you're going to listen to a

new stories on the radio you're going to go and get audio books and those types

of things now a few years ago Zig Ziglar was saying that if you listen to

audiobooks in a car during your travels and commutes for a period of up to two

years it's the same thing it's comparable to doing a master's degree at

a university so there is a lot of learning that can go on while you're in

your car now I do encourage you not to do distracted driving all those things

that drivers do in the daily grind and commute of going back and forth in and

out of a major metropolitan area you know shaving eating putting on makeup

drinking coffee all those types of things try not to do that while you're

driving you can get some work done while you're doing it if you need to make

phone calls and those types of things but certainly make sure that you're on a

hands-free set now if you are in traffic as I said previously plan your trips

accordingly so you're not going in and out of the major urban centers during

rush hour now obviously in the morning the traffic's going to be going into

town so if you're coming out of town you're probably going to be all right

now in the afternoon traffic is coming out of town so if you're going into town

you're probably going to be alright you know that a part of congestion now there

are unforeseen things that do happen on freeways that cause freeways to slow

down or shut down sinkholes you know animals get out on the freeways and

those types of things people are watching around for whatever reason on

the freeway those and traffic crashes obviously will slow down and shut down

the freeway now one of the things that you need to be careful about on freeways

if the freeway backs up for whatever reason

and the traffic behind you is not come to a stop yet make sure that you put

your Waze on make sure you keep lost lots of distance between you and the

vehicles in front of you that way when you see the traffic coming up behind you

you can simply move up and you're not going to get rear-ended and I'll put a

video up here for you on how to defend against being rear-ended in vehicle

especially on a freeway because there have been some awful awful incidents of

vehicles plowing into the back of other vehicles that are queued up to get on

off an off ramp or queued up because the traffic backed up for whatever reason

that it may have backed up so know that have a look at the rear-end video so

that you don't get rear-ended on a freeway now saying that the other

tactics that you keep in place while you're crawling along in the backed up

traffic is stay back from the vehicle in front of you yes you're going to have a

gap there and other people are going to try and get in and those types of things

and whatnot just let them go there crash somewhere else you got to stay back

because sitting in traffic and driving slowly bumper-to-bumper and it just kind

of grinding along it is distracting you're watching you're looking at other

vehicles and the vehicle moves it forward and you move forward and you

know if you got space you're not going to drive into the vehicle in front of

you and it's less likely that you're going to get rear-ended by the vehicle

behind you so make sure you keep space between you and the vehicles in front

you don't have to be right up tight to them it's not required it doesn't matter

if somebody gets in front of you people are going to cut in there turn it going

to try and move over they're going to get around they're going to go in the

utility Lane and they're going to turn around on the freeway in those types of

just let them go okay it is frustrating it's you're on edge when the traffic's

backed up you don't know what's going on you don't know how long it's going to

last yes but take a breath have your audiobooks

and just try as much as possible to relax in Vancouver here where we got

backed up in traffic and actually it's been a couple of times now that I've

been running for the ferry in Vancouver and got stuck in traffic

you know we missed the ferry we were two hours late and so instead of getting to

Vancouver Island at 9:30 at night we ended up getting to Vancouver Island at

11:30 at night but we got there safely nobody was injured nobody was hurt but

it was one of the few times that we'd sat in traffic

we're almost 90 minutes before I decided that it was time to turn around and go

back and find an alternative route so sometimes if emergency services if there

is a traffic crash they will be really good about it

tune into the local radio stations they will have traffic reports and you can

figure out what to do if emergency services are on it they'll have people

out there deterring the traffic and moving it around to alternative routes

and try and getting it around a major crash or some other incidents that has

caused the freeway to be shut down but it's it's it's a rare incident that they

actually shut the freeway down completely and you know try and merge

try and be conscious of other people and try and you know help other people to

merge and those types of things to try and move the traffic for now one other

thing that you might find on a freeway is if there's congestion and

construction where two lanes are moving into one lane to get past construction

you may find two large commercial vehicles that sit beside each other and

actually kind of crawl forward and hold the traffic back I've actually been in

trucks that have done that because it's a great deal of work for truck drivers

to be in stop-and-go traffic because you're holding the clutch in you're

letting the clutch out you're putting the thing in you're shifting a couple of

gears it's much easier for two trucks to drive at a slow speed at a constant

speed and much less exhausting and then when you get up to where you need to

merge the one truck moves in front of the other so try not to curse the trucks

out or try not to get in on the shoulder because stop and go traffic for truck

drivers and bus drivers is probably one of the most owners things that you have

to do it is much easier to move at a constant slow speed in a truck than it

is to move in that stop and go traffic so if you ever get behind two trucks

that are doing that and blocking the traffic and holding it back that's the

reason they're doing it and actually you're probably going to get through the

congestion much faster with those two trucks doing that then you are and stop

and go traffic so know that if that happens to you and that's what's going

on that's what's happening in congestion and as well just take a breath have your

books listen to the news figure out what's going on if you are in for an

inordinate amount of time and what I'm talking about inordinate anything beyond

half an hour forty-five minutes you might want to find an alternative route

but for the most part in my experience has only been a couple of times in all

the years I've been driving I've actually been in traffic that

stopped most of the time within 15 or 20 minutes the slow down traffic will speed

up and take off again so you're usually not going to sit in

back up traffic for very long quick review of traffic congestion plan your

trips accordingly know there's going to be rush hour in the morning and rush

hour in the afternoon in the morning all of the traffic is going into the city so

if you're going into the city in the morning between 7:00 and 9:00 or say

6:30 and 9:00 o'clock you're going to be sitting in traffic if you're coming out

of the city in the afternoon between three and six thirty you two are going

to be sitting in traffic unfortunately for some of those who live in the outer

suburbs of these large metropolitan areas and commute back and forth every

day you're going to sit in traffic if you're driving your car some of the ways

that you can combat that sitting in traffic and knowing you're sitting in

traffic stay back from the vehicles in front of you get a couple car lengths

listen to some of the news stations some of the public broadcasting systems that

have the shows on in these talk shows they're quite interesting and

entertaining as well go to the library or purchase audiobooks audiobooks are

really great to listen to in your car actually there was a study a couple

years ago I think it was I can attribute this to Zig Ziglar he was saying that if

you listen to two years of audiobooks in a car while you're driving it's

comparable to doing a master's degree so there is a great deal of learning that

can be done while you're spending time in your vehicle now if you're sitting in

traffic don't do all those distracting things like talking on your phone and

putting on makeup and shaving and eating and all of the other things that we do

on the freeway in traffic listen to audiobooks it's good for your brain good

exercise for your brain so that's another way you can do it and I know

you're on edge it's frustrating because you don't know what's happening you

don't know the reason that the traffic is slowed down or backed up whether it's

a traffic crash or how soon it's going to get going in those types of things so

there's a lot of unknown variables in terms of backup and traffic crashes and

other events that cause traffic to back up on interstates freeways and motorways

so know that the take your time keep your space and have something in the car

that you can do or listen to a story or something like that if you've got kids

in the car as well go to the library and get those books

How To Be Productive Working From Home - Stretch Goals Podcast Episode 41 Business Training Career - Duration: 16:03.

Robert: In this episode of The Stretch Goals Podcast Scott and I are going to be talking

about how to be productive working from home.

This is The Stretch Goals Podcast, where each week we share insights and lessons learned

based on our experiences as entrepreneurs.

We challenge you to create ambitious goals as you start and grow your business.

I'm your host.

Robert Dickerson.

Scott: And I'm Scott Davis.

Robert: So, Scott, how are you productive from home?

You've got kids at home, you've got all your toys, alcohol right behind you.

How do you get any work done ub in that office?

Scott: Yeah, you know, it changes daily.

It changes daily, right?

I mean there's some days when the kids are running around crazy, where that's very

distracting, especially if you've got meetings it makes it difficult.

But what I try to do is I try to keep my schedule a little like organically open.

I've got core hours where I know the kids are napping where I'm definitely working

always, but the rest of the day is kind of like well, if the kids are in a bad mood or

my wife needs a break, then I'm just going to work 7:00 pm to midnight tonight to make

up that difference.

There's core hours for me, but really it's all about … And sometimes … You touched

on this previously.

If you're not feeling good, you need to get out and just like get some fresh air,

play some basketball or go work out, that helps reset you.

I don't try to necessarily make set hours because it makes me too stressed.

That's how I keep my productivity up, is I just … I get what needs to be done and

then I go take care of something else and I just kind of keep my schedule free-flowing

and organic.

What about you?

Robert: Yeah.

I mean I like the flexibility.

That's something that I try to do a lot as well, whether I get a lot of stuff done

in the morning and then have meetings in the evening, or in the afternoon, and then work

at night.

I try to keep that flexibility as well, because when you're working from home you can work

at any time.

That can be a positive and that can be a negative too.

It's a positive because you can move your work around, but it's a negative because

it's hard to really separate yourself from your work.

Scott: Yeah.

It's hard to separate yourself too from what's going on at home.

If you've got a contractor there or you've got a kid who's sick it weighs on you a

little bit more.

But, honestly, I can't imagine ever going back to a 9:00 to 5:00 environment.

It's too restricting.

You can't run to deposit a check, you can't get a flat tire fixed, you can't do anything

because you're judged on the amount of time that you're in the office, not the work

that you're doing.

I know personally I get two to three times more work done working from home in my own

direction than I did working in an office environment.

Robert: Yeah.

I'm the same way.

I mean one thing that I try to do … I mean if you've read any articles about deep work,

where you really try to focus for a couple hours, that's something that I really try

to do.

I try to set aside times both in the morning and in the afternoon where I can get two to

three hours of really focused work, uninterrupted work done.

What I try to do is schedule different days … Like I'm very productive in the morning,

from like 9:00 to noon is probably my most productive time, so I really try to keep those

times free so I can focus on things I need to get done.

Then like around lunchtime a lot of times I'll schedule meetings or lunch meetings

or phone calls, or right after lunch I'll schedule calls as well, when I'm just trying

to get back into it.

Usually in the afternoon I'll go work out, go for a run or to the gym around 2:00, where

I feel like I'm kind of fading out a little bit.

Then from like 3:00 to 5:00 until I pick up my kids, I'll really have some focus work

then to get stuff done.

Then after dinner too, like a lot of times from 9:00 to 11:00 or so a couple nights a

week I'll really take time and really focus on that after the kids go to bed.

Scott: Sure.

I mean I'm a little bit different.

I'm not … I like being up in the mornings.

I like to read.

I like to do some knowledge gaining in the mornings.

I usually catch up on emails, social media and things like that, eat some breakfast,

play with the kids.

I try to get meetings and things I hate out of the way, and I try to do podcast recording.

But, no, in the afternoons is when I really … It's like from 12:00 to 5:00 I'm like

that's my time.

If that gets broken up because you've got meetings and things like that, it really affects

me.

I have it in my mind what I'm getting done today, and if a meeting impacts that it's

really difficult for me, because then I'm going to work at night.

But where I'm most focused is probably 9:00 pm until like 2:00 in the morning.

I don't do that shift as much these days, but when I do, man, the code just flies off

my fingers.

That's my focus time.

It's dark, it's quiet, nobody is there.

But lets get back to what we're talking about, like how can you be effective working

from home?

A lot of places where you work from home though, you have to keep a confined schedule.

You have working hours, and it's usually like 8:00 to 5:00 or 9:00 to 5:00 or something

like that, so that may not really jibe with what you're doing, but my suggestion is

if you've got a 9:00 to 5:00 work from home and you've got to do those working hours,

do what you can, be responsive during that time.

Like maybe just take your phone with you and have Slack running or Google Hangouts or whatever

and be responsive, but it doesn't mean you have to be bolted down to your seat the whole

time.

You still have the flexibility even though you have these core working hours.

It just means you have to be responsive.

Robert: Yeah, I mean I think, like you were saying, we both work differently.

I think you have to figure out what schedule works for you.

It's a little bit of trial and error.

I know when I first started working from home I tried different things to figure out what

my schedule would look like, how I would work on different tasks.

When I first started, I was working for different customers, so I'd divide up each day to

a different customer.

Instead of trying to multitask things during the day, work on one thing for an hour and

then switch to another task, it just became too hard to switch back and forth, so I tried

to focus over a larger period of time on a day basis on a specific task.

That's just something that works for me, but you can experiment with different ways

to work and try to be productive, and like Scott said, find those hours when you're

most productive and try not to schedule meetings during those times.

Try to keep those free, whether you need to block off your calendar to make sure people

don't schedule meetings … I know sometimes you can't do that if those are required

meetings and things like that, but if you try to do that and really figure out what

works best for you.

Scott: Yeah.

I think that's great.

If you can block out those times, like you said, that's going to be the greatest thing

for you, and you're going to find that you get way more work done than you do when you're

in that office environment.

People say, "Hey, I couldn't work from home because I would miss talking to people."

I don't.

I'm a doer, man.

I don't need the water cooler chat.

In fact, us doing this podcast is the most I talk to people really all week, and that's

enough for me.

But when I transitioned from corporate to work from home it was easy for me.

I immediately was more effective.

I didn't have to do anything like man, I can't get anything done.

I'm staring out the window or playing video games.

That's not the case.

If anything, it's like hey, I got all my work done.

Now what am I supposed to do?

I was working like first thing in the morning.

Before I had kids I'd work from 9:00 to 12:00, I'd be done on a Tuesday with everything

I needed to do for the week, so I'd stop for a little bit, play some video games, grab

some lunch, and then hit my manager up and be like, "Hey, I need more to do."

That's just how I am.

When I can get in that zone, it was an easy transition for me.

Robert: Well, you feel a sense of accomplishment, a sense of productivity, I feel like when

you have that uninterrupted time, whereas when you're in an office you have people

… I mean that's the biggest change for me, is that … You know, I was kind of worried

about that day-to-day talking to people over the water cooler, because I enjoyed doing

that, meeting people for lunch, and I was worried that if I was working from home I

was going to miss that.

But what I found is that I go to lunch with people, I have phone calls with people, I

do just as much engagement as I would in the office, but what's removed is people bugging

me during those core times I really need to focus.

So you get to choose … And I think that's the biggest thing, is you get to choose when

you have that engagement and when it makes sense, and then when you can focus.

That's what I really like about working from home.

The other thing … I've heard the same thing from people that say, "I could never

work from home.

There's too many distractions," and that is difficult, right?

You have to be mindful that you're not going to watch TV when you need to get something

done.

You need to make sure that you stay focused and use those breaks to kind of separate your

day to make yourself more productive and get yourself in the right frame of mind.

Scott: Sure.

I think initially, when you first start working from home, there's that temptation to maybe

watch some TV, take a nap, play with the dogs, but that wears of, especially when you know

you have work to do.

For me it's just kind of like … I don't know, I think people have in their mind that

they can kind of just do whatever they want and they'll work like an hour a day and

that's it.

That's fine, but you'll get weeded out real quick.

You still have to get your stuff done.

For me, sometimes I'll just like to get all my work done all at once.

I might even work … Before I got married and had kids I would work 24 hours straight

and be done for the week.

You know, like that's just how it is.

I don't know, for me, I don't miss talking to people.

I'm a typical programmer.

Like put me in a dark room with no light and just let me work.

Robert: You say that, but we have these podcasts, you have meetings, you have customer engagement,

you go to trade shows and conferences, so I mean you're still engaged with people.

Scott: Absolutely.

Robert: But like you said, you can have that time that you can really focus, that you're

not interrupted.

Scott: Yeah.

I hated being in the office and would be in the zone and, "Hey, Scott, can you help

me out with a problem?"

I'm like … Like you don't want to be a jerk, but you're like, "Dude, let me

finish this thing.

I'm almost done."

Don't get me wrong, I love talking to people, but when I'm in the zone I want to be in

the zone.

Leave me alone.

That's why working from home works great for me.

I think there's probably some personality types where it wouldn't be good for perhaps,

but I think … I can see a world where everybody worked remotely, me personally, because that's

how the thought works for me.

But obviously we can't all do that, and some people aren't good at it.

Robert: Did you ever have days in the corporate world where you'd get to the end of the

day and it would be 5:00 and you hadn't accomplished the one task that you wanted

to do the whole day because you got interrupted by meetings and-

Scott: Oh, yeah, all the time.

Like I said earlier in this podcast, it stays with me and I'm not sleeping tonight because

I didn't get that done, right?

So I would end up working from home at night just to get that stuff done because that's

just how I am.

I want to get my things done.

Yeah, that happened all the time, and it was frustrating.

There were days, like usually it was a Friday in the summer, where I would just go talk

with people in the office the whole day and deliberately wouldn't do any work.

I would be like let me see what I can do until lunchtime, and then I'm going to go get

out for an hour and a half, and then I'm going to come back and try not to stare at

the back of my eyelids.

There were days when you had that, right?

You know, I'm trying to think have I deliberately at all in the last year done nothing while

working from home, and the answer is honestly no.

There's not been one day where I've been like, "I'm not going to work today."

I love going into my office and working.

I love being here and doing things.

Robert: Yeah, I agree.

There hasn't been a day where I haven't had a million things to do that I'm like,

"What should I do today?"

The other thing I want to talk about too is that if you're working on a problem a lot

of times in the corporate world you just have to continually sit there and bang on it, and

I really like the fact that I can get up and I can go do something else like go work out

or go outside for a bit and kind of take my mind off it.

That really helps me focus so when I come back I'm refreshed and I can really sit

down and solve it quickly, rather than if I just sat there for a day.

Probably all of us have had this happen, when you go home at night and you come back in

the morning and you solve the problem you were sitting there for four hours the day

before, and you fix it in a couple minutes, or you solve the issue.

So I like that flexibility about work.

I guess the final thing to kind of wrap up this topic I wanted to talk about was really

how can you separate yourself from your work when you're working from home, because the

boundaries now are not as clearly defined.

Because when you come home from the office, your home is kind of a separate place and

you can kind of relax, but when you're working from home, your office is just down the hall,

right, and you're kind of always drawn to go back and do work, or work for an hour here

or there.

For me that's really … That balancing act has been something that I'm continuously

working on to figure out … Kind of define those core working hours still, even if I

do work in the evenings and stuff like that, but try to restrict those to certain hours

or certain maybe issues or things like that that I only address at those time.

Scott: Yeah.

There's a family life balance, as you probably know.

If you work during the time when you can play with the kids too many days in a row, you're

going to get a lot of flack at home, so I try … I cut off at 5:00 or 5:30 every day,

I do dinner with the family, I play with the kids until after they go to bed.

After they go to bed, if I'm really busy I'll let my wife know, "Hey, I'm going

to have to work tonight.

I'm really sorry," make her know that I want to spend time with her, but at this

time I've got to work.

Then if it's not as critical but I still need to get some things done so I can sleep

or just so I can meet my deadlines, I'll wait until she goes to bed and then I'll

work on those things.

That's how I usually do it.

I try not to … I like to get to a stopping point, and if I don't sometimes I kind of

take that with me while I'm eating dinner, I'm still thinking about it, but usually

I cut it off and I'm good until everybody is in bed.

Robert: Yeah, I do the same thing, try to really define those times where I can spend

time with my family.

Because I mean there's important things in all of our lives that we want to focus

on, and work can't be the sole thing we always do.

You have to take the advantage of the flexibility and still try to figure out boundaries where

it's not bleeding over into your life.

A lot of people talk about there is no work/life balance, right?

Work is life.

There's some truth to that, but you still have to kind of define those boundaries, and

it's something when you're working from home it takes a little bit of time to figure

out what works for everyone.

Scott: Yeah.

Yeah.

Those people who say that, they're not married and they don't have kids so-

Robert: You know, it's funny.

I'll listen to podcasts of people who are being productive and they say, "I get up

at 4:00 am and I meditate."

I just think once you have a baby, then let me know if you're getting up at 4:00 am

to meditate, because you're probably getting up to feed a screaming child.

Scott: Yeah.

Different kind of meditation.

Robert: Life changes quick.

Scott: Indeed.

OBAMA DISGRACE New Study Just Found How Much He REALLY Cost America - politics - Duration: 1:46.

OBAMA DISGRACE: New Study Just Found How Much He REALLY Cost AmericaIts UNTHINKABLE

Obama wreaked havoc on the American economy during his eight years as president by implementing

expensive and useless regulations.

Now we have evidence of just how much he was costing us.

As The Wall Street Journal reported, a recent economic report has estimated that Obamas

regulations cost the economy $600 BILLION a YEAR.

Outrageous!

No wonder the economy was growing so slowly during the Obama administration.

Obamas regulations have put a strain on American consumers by forcing businesses to

jump through more and more hoops just to keep their doors open.

We already pay enough taxes- we dont need to pay more for what we buy just because businesses

are now forced to comply with new pointless Obama rules!

Luckily, President Donald Trump is doing something about it!

He has already promised to repeal two regulations for every new one that becomes law, and according

to the Washington Post, the economy is back on track with the lowest unemployment rates

in 10 years!

It is incredible that it has only been five months and we are already recovering from

Obamas harmful and costly policies.

THANK YOU President Trump for MAKING AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!

Brown Algae IN Your Aquarium Fish Tank How to Remove it Organically Nerite Snails - Duration: 7:18.

so today we have kind of a fun topic if you're keeping tropical fish you may

have watched my fish tank video how to set up a freshwater tank and once you've

got your tank established and the water cycles and all your filters are running

great and everything else you're probably going to get some algae and in

this case we're looking at brown algae in my fish tank also look at this dive

helmet that's covered with it part of its clean part of its dark brown

with algae and that's because I have a little snail that you can see in the

lower right and he's eating the algae off of that decoration now you got to be

careful when it comes time to putting snails inside your fish tank

some snails will just reproduce and completely overrun your tank and there's

a progress update there more of the algae's been eating off and now I did a

lot of research on invertebrates for the tank and specifically snails that will

eat brown algae and what I arrived at is the nerite snail now these are very

special snails and there's a lot of reasons why the utmost being that

nerite snails in a freshwater fish tank cannot reproduce and start to populate

the tank with lots of other snails so if you buy three snails you're going to

have three snails now the good news is they can get into every nook and cranny

on your tank and eat brown algae they call the decomposing matter in the tank

here's one on the glass and here's a wake-up call when you put a macro lens

up to your tank like this you think it looks nice and clean but look at all the

little bits of algae that are waving in the water they're also this nerite

snail is producing a little white pellet that it's sticking on the tank you're

going to see those around the tank and that happens is kind of some people call

them a baler snail because as they go along they create these little tiny white

bales that they stick to things even if that were an

pouch which I don't believe it is but if it were it would be infertile again they

don't reproduce in freshwater so this little guy is doing his best and as you

saw we had three of them I got them from my local pet shop and their kind of ugly

to be honest I asked for zebra nerites they special order them in and

what I got were these drab little olive colored snails also three snails is

really not enough for this 54 gallon tank if you're going to have decent

illumination you're going to have a consistent issue with algae brown and

green and you're going to need snails to keep up with that I try to other things

and try to scrub the pieces off and stuff and what happens is the algae just

snaps right back covers everything the good news too is these snails won't eat

your plants so I got these through the mail from a place called aquatic arts.com

and I ordered three they sent me four and they actually did send what I

asked for zebra nerite snails so let's take a

look and see how they arrived the UPS guy dropped them off they were sent

Priority Mail and these kinds have great patterns on their shelves and I know

you're probably thinking we need to get these guys right in the water but I

wanted to give you a close-up look before we put them in the fish tank and

they have wonderful striping and if you look close there's lots of gradients in

these colors and everything and guess what they're all alive and they all

started moving around even on these damp paper towels that they were shipped in

so very good shipping experience here and it was really impressed with the

colors of these snails and you want to introduce them to your tank the same way

you do with any other fish resident in your tank gradual temperature

acclamation and then mix the water slowly until they have a balanced

experience when they go in with low stress and these guys went straight to

work they're all over the gravel and their colors are fantastic even

better underwater and I was also impressed that their striping and

coloration continues through the soft tissue these things are very interesting

you can spend a lot of time just looking at them because they move so slow it's

kind of hypnotic be honest and again these colors are great I can't say too

many good things about aquatic arts as the source for them again I just bought

them like anyone else they did not send anything special and I did not get these

in order to review or promote them I'm doing it on my own and this particular

specimen while I'm videoing is turning around showing all of his angles and

this is a really fantastic little snail and if you look at the coloration right

where these yellow bands it'ss a zebra nerite with the yellow bands are adjacent

to the black bands they actually have highlighted little penciling along there

and really interesting stuff so I didn't expect the snails both to be so

functional they're cleaning the tank at an incredible rate

but they really are fascinating to look at you can find yourself sitting and

just watching them and losing a lot of time to be honest they're little antennae

come out and that's how they feel around for where the algae is located

and they can also move pretty fast I was impressed if you're trying to take a

macro video now having things move in and out of focus is always a challenge

you'd think it snail moving so slow would be very easy but they actually

move in and out of focus fast and now look at this tank all my fake driftwood

my plastic plants my dive helmet everything is super clean and now I have

four that I bought through the mail and of course I have the three I'm going to

give away those three that I got from the local pet shop because they're just

not as cool looking and they're cleaning the gravel they go all over the plants

the glass everything so I refer to these guys is kind of the Scrubbing Bubbles of

your fish tank they do the work so you don't have to

now my water chemistry was all fantastic so it's always tested great it looks

clear and we got this brown algae anyway so I needed to do something about it

I wasn't too keen on using chemicals to clean and scrub with toothbrushes and

things like that it just didn't work so nerite

snails whether you get the you know the tiger snails or the zebra snails that we

showed here it doesn't matter they perform the same and you can do a

fantastic job of keeping up with brown algae in your fish tank I hope you

enjoyed it get some snails they're really cool and

they look awesome and I have to say I'm very happy with aquatic arts com thanks

a lot for watching and I hope you'll enjoy my other videos

DIY: How to crochet arms and legs for a dragon- or animal-amigurumi - Duration: 16:48.

Hello and welcome to Fluffy Unicorn's Crochet Corner!

Today, I show you how to crochet arms and legs for your dragon amigurumi.

Just in case you wonder about all those nature sound in the background - no, this is no fake it really has become summer over here!

But of course no real crochet addict will stop working just because of a little heat, so we start:

Fasten your yarn end between rounds 5 and 6 of the body, approximately meeting the line of the side of the tail

Start with 5 single crochets which you crochet directly to the body as follows

After you fastened your yarn end with a chain stitch

you start working around the single crochets of the body.

This means you insert your hook in front of one stitch and bring it out right behind that stitch

than you finish your single crochet as you are used to.

Once again in close up and a bit more slowly: Bring your hook around the single crochet of the body,

pull yarn through and pull it through once again to finish your single crochet

After you have done your 5 single crochets like that in this direction

(as you see this is sometimes a bit tricky, especially when doing it in front of cameras ;) )

ok, done with the 5 stitches in this direction,

turn your work by 180 degrees

and crochet another 5 single crochets back

These are worked exactly around the same stitches as the first 5 single crochets

So at the end you should have a really flat oval shape

Like this

What I do next is pulling this yarn end into the body, so it can no longer desturb us.

You can do this now or sew it up later, as you wish

In the next round the only tricky thing is to find the first real stitch and not work into the chain stitch you fastened your yarn with

When you have found it, you go on doing a simple round of 10 single crochets.

Of course this means you have to do 5 single crochets on the downside and another 5 on the upper side

After this round you do another 5 rounds with 10 single crochets each.

In the next round, which is round number 8, you do 3 increases at the top and apart from that single crochets around

To show you the new pattern only, I already have done the first single crochets and start at the end of the downside.

So to provide you with a stitch count, I do 6 single crochets before the increases

Then I do 3 increases.

So stitches numbers 7, 8 and 9 will be increased

And then I finish this round with one single crochet and end up with 13 stitches in total

In the next round we do one popcorn stitch in every first stitch of the three increases

Apart from that we do single crochets around, so once again we start with 6 single crochets

So into the seventh stitch comes the first popcorn stitch

The pattern of the popcorn stitch is: 3 half double crochets,

one

second half double crochet into the same stitch,

and a third one also into that stitch

Then enlargen your loop

Exert hook and go back three stitches

insert hook into the first half double crochet

get loop back onto it

and pull it through that first half double crochet

Then follows one single crochet

And we proceed to the second popcorn stitch, which I show you a bit faster, here

Start with 3 half double crochet into one stitch

Exert hook and put it into the first half double crochet of this popcorn stitch

pull loop through that stitch

and finished is you second popcorn stitch

Then follows one single crochet

And another popcorn stitch

followed by a single crochet into the next stitch

And another single crochet to end this round

Stuff the arm of your dragon a little

In the next round you do 5 invisible decreases. This is how you do them:

Insert hook into the two front loops of the decreasing stitches,

pull yarn through those two front loops, so you get two loops on your hook,

and then pull yarn through those two loops

Repeat this invisible decrease another four times

Just in case you wonder why we are doing this only five times (although we should have 13 stitches in our round by now)

Yes, of course you are right, but

the popcorn stitches "swallow" one stitch, which now is hiding inside it

Of course you could search and find them,

but one can also go the easy way and just drop them as we do here

So we do only work with the stitches lying visibly on the top

So this is how we end up with 5 decreases in this round

Next you sew up the end, for which I show you my favorite technique:

Pull yarn through the front loops of all but one stitch

So in this case this means the first four stitches,

then pull them together tightly

This should cover up the small whole in the middle

Next, I tie the yarn end to the front loop of the last stitch

and hide the tail somewhere inside the amigurumi

and cut it off

The leg is worked quite similarly.

We go down from the outside of the arm counting 9 rounds down

Here we fasten our yarn end with one chain stitch

And then we do 3 single crochet to the left.

We crochet them directly to the body as we did when starting the arm

After these three single crochets,

we turn our work by 90 degrees

So this is different from the arm, where we turned by 180 degrees

and now we do three single crochets towards the top

So if you have done the rest of the dragon with me, too and not only use this arms-and-legs-pattern for another amigurumi, you already know this technique from doing the neck.

When you have done your three single crochets up,

you turn your work by 90 degrees again

and do another three single crochets towards the back

Turn once again by 90 degrees

and do another three single crochets back to where you started this round

Be careful to meet the first single crochet, not the chain stitch you fastened your yarn end with

So in the end you should have a square or circle like this formed by 12 single crochets in total

Do one simple round with 12 single crochets starting into the first single crochet of the previous round (not into the chain stitch!)

After this round you do another four rounds with 12 single crochets each.

In the next round, which is round 6, you do 4 increases on the upper side of the leg

So this is similar to the pattern of the arm, but instead of 3 we do 4 increases.

So we start with 6 single crochets,

Well, lets say five or six, you can vary this a bit according to the position you like best

Just keep in mind that the four increases should be somewhat in the middle of the upper side of the leg

So I do six single crochets,

then I do four increases

and another two single crochets to finish this round.

So in total you should end up with 14 stitches

Similar to the arm you do one popcorn stitch into each first stitch of your increases in the next round.

So again you start with six - five or six - single crochets,

The popcorn stitches here are made a bit different then those of the arm.

Instead of doing 3 half double crochets, you work them with 4 half double crochets.

Ok, so this is where I reach my first increase of the previous round

And into the seventh stitch I do the first popcorn stitch with 4 half double crochets

After I did four half double crochets, I exert hook, count four stitches back,

and pull my loop through that stitch.

Next we do one single crochet,

and then follows the next popcorn stitch with 4 half double crochets

When you have done your four half double crochets you count four stitches back,

and pull your loop through the first half double crochet of this popcorn stitch

Next do one single crochet.

Repeat another two times [popcorn stitch, single crochet] and do another 2 single crochets to complete this round

Stuff the leg

In the next round do 6 decreases

Once again I use the invisible decrease technique, but of course you may also use any other decrease technique you like

After this round you cut and sew up the yarn end

The second arm and the second leg are done in the same way

When you have done all four arms and legs, you are almost through with doing this dragon.

In the next part of this series, which is already the last one, I show you how to do the "comb" of the dragon.

Thank you for watching!

I am looking forward to your comments, likes and shares.

Hope to see you again for the last part of this series!

Domain registration. How does domain registration work? - Duration: 1:59.

Domain registration information is maintained by the domain name registries, which contract

with domain registrars to provide registration services to the public.

An end user selects a registrar to provide the registration service, and that registrar

becomes the designated registrar for the domain chosen by the user.

Only the designated registrar may modify or delete information about domain names in a

central registry database.

It is not unusual for an end user to switch registrars, invoking a domain transfer process

between the registrars involved, that is governed by specific domain name transfer policies.

When a registrar registers a com domain name for an end-user, it must pay a maximum annual

fee of US$7.34 to VeriSign, the registry operator for com, and a US$0.18 annual administration

fee to ICANN.

Most domain registrars price their services and products to address both the annual fees

and the administration fees that must be paid to ICANN.

Barriers to entry into the bulk registrar industry are high for new companies without

an existing customer base.

Many registrars also offer registration through reseller affiliates.

An end-user registers either directly with a registrar, or indirectly through one or

more layers of resellers.

As of 2010, the retail cost generally ranges from a low of about $7.50 per year to about

$35 per year for a simple domain registration, although registrars often drop the price far

lower – sometimes even free – when ordered with other products such as web hosting services.

The maximum period of registration for a domain name is 10 years.

Some registrars offer longer periods of up to 100 years,[2] but such offers involve the

registrar renewing the registration for their customer; the 100-year registration would

not be in the official registration database.

How do I adopt a child? 6 tips before you apply | Jules Furness - Duration: 9:32.

Hi everybody, I hope your all okay. I'm Jules if you are new to my channel videos Wednesdays Fridays

and Saturdays and one of the most common questions I get messaged is about how how

to go about adoption. People thinking about it and not sure what to do next so

I've written down about five steps you can kind of follow. You can do these

steps in any order you want and I mean it's an individual how you go around the adoption

process but this is kind of how I would say to do it and originally loads and

loads and loads of luck if you then decide to do it. So this

applies if you are in the UK I'm going to talk to you about like the kind of

facts behind it rather than my opinions on some of the systems; I will link down

below anything that I mention as I'm going through it so I am talking of if

you have decided you are super super keen on adoption okay. So one of the

first things I would say to do is to think about whether you want to adopt

from the UK or from abroad so if you want to do it from abroad there are

agencies you can do it through but it can be very expensive and it can get

very complicated so you really need to know why you want to do it for abroad so

really research it first. If you want to do it from the UK there are a few different

types of adoption. There is foster to adopt your Assessors as a foster carer first and with

the idea of adopting at some point and but you might have to look after a few

children who might then go on to other adopters or back to birth family and things

before a child then becomes yours. Secondly there is concurrent planning

which is generally what people would do if they are super super keen to have a

baby or super super keen to work with their birth family. So you would foster

generally a newborn next straight from hospital and and while all the other

services working with that child or working with the family to try and get

them back on track if it turns out that they can't and usually these are cases

where they think they're probably not going to be able to, then you go on to

adopt the child as long as everything has been going along with all right with

you guys looking after the baby so it is a really amazing thing because you could

have your child right from the start but at the same time it can be very

stressful in not knowing if they're going to be staying with you, getting to

know the best family and meeting them can be amazing blessing but it can also

again be quite a stressful difficult thing and there's always a chance that

they may not stay with you and you've built a bond. So you kind of have to take

that massive risk into consideration but like I say they try to for those cases

pick babies that they really don't think are going to be able to stay with their

family for some reason . Then the third way is just like regular domestic

adoptions where child is usually already in care usually already have gone

through court and as a placement always saying yes this shows needs an adoptive

family and and so it can be a little bit more straightforward. Not always simple

and things can crop up but generally compared to be able to a more

straightforward option but the child be older because they've already gone

through the system and all that kind of stuff. If you are looking to adopt more

than one child like a sibling group then that would probably be your route as

well. So the second thing I suggest to think about is like picture the child

that you would imagine adopting that you think that would fit into your family

that you could care for that you could care for their needs so what kind of age

you would kind of accept? Be quite loose on this because you might change a later

on but generally what kind of age and I happy with looking after a child that

has disabilities. Is that something you really feel like you've got a passion

for have you got passion for adopting maybe a sibling group because families

that can take on sibling groups is so so needed and could you take in a child that maybe

has had drug influence. Try to think about every kind of scenario

and don't feel bad if there is a scenario that you think you just

couldn't do because no body is going to think bad of you for that everybody's got kind of

different thresholds and and different abilities for who they could care for

and at the end of the day you want it you want a match between your child to

work so you both need to be on the same page. The third thing I would then do is

to look into the requirements, so if you know your going UK or abroard it can

make it a little bit easier so I started with that one but you look into the

requirements in your area, look at your local authority. I'll

linked some websites down below like a link maker and coram. They've got some

really good information on their site about things like that you generally need to

be a minimum twenty-one years old and there's no maximum age. Those kind of

things that you might be wondering about type of home that you need financially

how you need to be I have to say that generally the things we people email me

worrying about are generally things that the agencies don't mind about so make

sure you go and have a look because more than likely you won't be crossed off for

something. Then first thing I would do is actually start making contact with

agencies. Now contacting them doesn't mean that you're then bound into doing it if

you're still feeling a little bit unsure and you probably should be still at this

stage. By contacting the agencies you can see who is in your area you can go

with a private agency or a statutory agency, like a council agency and I would

really suggest checking up both, thats what we did I was told at the beginning of

our adoption process that children are generally placed with the council

and then if they aren't able to find adopters through the council agencies

then they would go through the private agencies. Generally the children that

have got the private agencies are like the harder to place might have some more

difficult needs or a difficult age group but that isn't always the case and also

a lot of people that I've spoken to they're gone with private agencies have

had some really really good support in place from them and good support

packages for after they've adopted so you kind of got to way it up. Fifth thing

is go and meet them both they would usually have open evenings and again

especially people email me saying that they they're keen on it but their

partner is not quite so sure this is a really good way to kind of find out. I

think this is where it clicked for Steve because he was kind of he was kind of on

board that he wasn't quite sure I think it's getting we've never never never had

a child before he'd never worked in anything to do with social care whereas I had and I

thought I was comfortable with all that care system what to expect and he really

didn't know anything about it so going to the open evening hearing about the

children that are actually here in your local authority needing families. They

showed some videos of some of the children we were able to ask questions

both in the group and went 1:1 was really really informative and really

enlightening and it was this nice actually being sat in a room full of

people that also wanted to do the same thing as you and more than likely some

that we're doing it for the same reasons as you so I think it's just quite like

empowering and I guess I think that would be the make-or-break situation for

whether you think it's right for you or not and again you're not tied in at that

point and you can go away I think you're usually they ask you to contact them if

you're still interested and not generally going to chase yo. Out all

the points I probably think that that is the most important one when you're

talking to the workers there I would have to think about if you do click with . Ask them what support they offer to people like during the assessment process and

afterwards , after you've adopted a child. I would also really ask them about their

waiting list not necessarily waiting list for the children because they don't

know what children they're going to have at the time of your assessment so that's

not really a like, its a bit of a pointless question but I would ask what the

waiting list is once you've applied to get your social worker for an assessment

because I know for some agencies that is super duper long and others it can be

quite quick and that might be a part of your decision-making. If after all of

that you decide that you think this could be the right thing for you and

your family I would say if you haven't told your friends and family yet I would

start telling them I just tell your close ones at the moment because you

might be a bit nervous what with you are going to get like accepted and then gets

to do assessment and stuff but I would start telling them because from this

point onwards it's really where you're going to start needing the support and

somebody just to sound off to you sometimes and to chew things over with

I think we told our parents our siblings and our best friends at that

point that's it for that before bit but I would really like to do some stuff on

helping you guys going through the process because I get lots of messages

about it and a lot of the time is same kind of question. Also there is a family

that have been contacting me for I don't know maybe like a year or something from

right when they were thinking about adoption and they

how about to bring home their child so this can really really work and it's

it's something that I just feel so passionate about and it that's the kind

of thing that makes you think yes I want to share stuff because it might be the

turning point for somebody for giving a family to a child that really really

needs it so massive massive luck in your journey which ever way you decide to do

things guys leave a comment down below if there is a particular video on

adoption stuff that you would like me to do that would be helpful we'd really

really help me if you could share this video like on your Facebook page or your

blog or anything like that to help anybody that has been thinking about

adoption isn't quite sure what to do next let's like get the word out there

and dispel some of the myths you subscribe to and meet again and I'll see

you next video bye
