4 percent group, four percent group
hey everyone its Nigel Yates here I hope you're having a great day thank you
so much for being here and watching my video I've got a really great tip for
you today it's something actually I did a PDF report about this which is what
you can see on the screen in front of you now sender policy framework I did a
short PDF report there's going to be a link beneath this video you can download
it straight away if you'd like to grab that it's not a signup thing it's just
it explains in more detail what I'm going to talk about today very quickly
send a policy framework somebody read my PDF and said hey Nige is great but do
you think you could do a video too cuz I really like videos so you ask and I
provide and here it is and I hope it's helpful if you're scratching your head a
little bit I'm not sure what sender policy framework is and why you should
use it I'm going to jump in and show you straight away what it's all about very
quickly just an overview because I think it's really important if you're going to
implement something like this that you kind of understand a little bit about
why you're doing it okay I'm not going to go super techy
on you or anything like that just keep it a fairly high level just see the I
yeah that makes sense and then a car show you exactly how to do it simple as
that so short video send a policy framework let's jump right in if you
want to get in touch with me you can see down here I've got a Facebook page and a
Facebook group which you know you'll you're welcome to join and there's the
the download link for the PDF but it should be beneath this video so send a
policy framing look if you're ready if you're in internet marketing you're
going to be sending emails from are typically from an autoresponder service
such as get response or a whether they're the two that I'm going to focus
on in this video so you're sending an email okay and it's going to go over
here to the subscribers mail server so the person on your list is going to
receive an email from you now that mail server is going to do something straight
away it's going to say who is this email from is it legitimate it wants to run a
check to make sure that the person sending the email
when I say person in internet terms I'm talking about an IP address from a mail
server and the domain that the meal is coming from
so this mail server here is going to run a check and it's going to check the
domain name server record over here that you are using for your email so what do
I mean by that well many of many of the 4-percent guys who I'm sure watching
this you'll be using Namecheap and you've probably already been into
Namecheap DNS settings and set up a couple of records in there that this is
very very similar that's all we're doing you're adding a record to your domain
name settings over here Namecheap is the example I'm using and that record is
going to be an SPF record taken from in this instance get response or a whether
to say yeah this domain is authorized to be used by this mail server to send
emails on your behalf and it's going to check IP addresses and the email the
from address in the autoresponder here my example I'm using and I'm going to
show you just one moment is info at nigelyates.com that's my email address that I'm
using as the from address and I've authorized it to be set to be used by
get response so that that's the setup that's why we're doing it because over
here the receiving mail server is going to run the check and if it doesn't find
an SPF record there's a very strong chance it's going to say well we can't
be sure this email came from the person who it pretends to come from or purports
to come from and it may well be marked as spam and if it's if it has an SPF
record then at least you're going to be on this path here now I've said inbox I
will stress there is no guarantee using this method you're going to get into the
inbox because that will still depend on your email subject line it'll depend on
the body copy of your email the links you put inside your email the image to
text ratio the words you use etc etc etc there are a lot of factors
to consider but this is if you like this is the first hurdle you know you want to
at least get past this step here the mail server receiving the email so you
stand a chance of running through the spam filters and getting into the inbox
or even even the Gmail promotions tab for example which is so part of the
inbox that's just like a filtered view so that's not a bad place to be the
promotions tab instead inbox territory um some people think it's a kind of
spammy folder but it's not right so that's why we're doing it let's have a
quick jump in to exactly how we do so here I'm in Namecheap ok and here's the
domain I mentioned larger gigs com that's me and we take a very quick look
at the just move me over here I'm in the advanced DNS settings up here I've got a
number of records that I've already set up and actually I suppose it's probably
interesting I'll just spend a quick moment talking you through these I get a
lot of questions from people about the click magic setup and that kind of thing
and I was going to going to do a sort of a longer video for clickmagick
email you know if that's a good idea leave a comment below because it give me
ideas for videos guys let me know if you've got a real problem you stick
you're stuck on or it doesn't make sense post a comment below and I'll you know
if there's enough interest or I've seen it before I'll probably think it out you
know I'll do a video and show you how but let me know for sure so the number
of Records here the first one actually if you look at this one a record here
with the ampersand sign at the host this is a redirect to click magic that's one
of click click magics IP addresses and this is also a click magic redirects you
can see it here CL k mg com4 percenters will recognize this you've probably
already set this up and will know what I'm talking about the two records
they're the cname record and a record are pointing to clickmagick
I have a couple of others because I've used subdomains so if you look at this
here business growth and ready for success they're both subdomains and they
will appear as business growth dot nigel yet calm or ready for success dot
modulates com that's how subdomains work they both set up on CNN redirect I've
installed those subdomains into clickmagick
too I'll show you in a moment actually so that's the first for now the one I've
been talking about the SPF sender policy framework is this record here that it's
got get response in the details here in the actual record I'm going to show you
where that comes from what my PDF has all this explained step by step
downloaded below if you think that will help but all I did it's very simple was
an a new text record like this yeah text record the host was the @ sign the value
is this copy and paste that's all I'm doing
it's copy and paste put that in there and the TTL time-to-live value is
automatic in Namecheap that's 30 minutes and it's the refresh rate of the
system's cache for when you make changes that's
how I'm going to any any more detail on that but I think you get the idea it's
really simple I'm not going to create a new record because I've already got it
but if you've already done any of these you can certainly do this this is
telling the mail servers that this domain nigel yates.com is authorized to be
used by get response for email that's that's what we're doing yeah does that
make sense I hope so again if if I've confused anybody
comment below and I'll try harder next time
but I think it's this is relatively straightforward rather to be simple I
just want to give you that overview of why we're doing it and it's not taught
very widely and I think it's important that we do this so again that's probably
nothing Namecheap I said what I was doing over actually actually there was
one more thing forgive me I'm going to jump back two seconds if you're you may
have spotted something I just want to mention this because I did say that this
cname record WWC l km g comm this is for creating a tracking link using this
domain to create a tracking link in clickmagick
the one here is CLK M R that's for creating a rotator link in clickmagick
I've used both it's a set up I just wanted to implement probably a little
bit more advanced but just in case you spotted that I think well why is that
one different it's a cname record but it's a different
different address there anything in our it's a rotator link so when we come in
to clickmagick you'll see I've got my custom tracking
link domains here and my custom rotator domains here and there it is so there's
the subdomain ready for success dot Nigel Yates dot com and it's a rotator link
and I've used that in my system basically very very quickly a rotator
link you can have multiple URLs sitting beneath the rotator and the way you can
set it up is that visitors come to the new to the main URL and it will then
send them to the next link in the sequence so each visitor it's great for
split testing basically each visitor will go to the next link in term and it
just rotates through each time it's a simple set up useful if you want to
split test different URLs different landing pages in that way what you want
traffic to be spread across different your anyway different URLs so
that's the rotator link bear over here i i've added the custom domains that I've
just shown in named chief here they all are so again there was the other
subdomain business growth dot nigel yet calm and here's here's my main domain in
my name and it's both versions have been added so there's the one that had the
apt side and there's the one that had the WWW both in here and I've got
another domain as well remember we only looked at one of my domains in Namecheap
I have another one that I've added in so I've got two domains added and two
subdomains added that's my set up at the moment but really very very simply that
that's all I have to do there now I talked about the actual SPF values the
records themselves that come from get response that come from
Aweber there in the PDF but it's a simple google if you if you just Google
for get response SPF you should find this page no trouble and there is the
record there that I've used it's generic so it's not it's not unique to me it's a
generic SPF record that you can use I can use any get response user can use
and there it is and similarly for a weber I've scrolled down a bit but I
just googled a weather SPF I got I came to this page how do I obtain my SPF
record scroll down and here's the a weather value there we go so they have
it it's as simple as that I'll stop there remember this is what we're doing
SPF record sender policy framework I highly recommend you implement this it's
it's really really important I jump back to write diagram over here it's really
really important that this inbound mail server the one that's receiving your
message can authenticate that is coming from the
we address through the domain and has permission to do so that's all for me I
hope you got some value from that short run through I hope it wasn't too quick
and I hope it wasn't too detailed I hope I didn't confuse anybody comment below
