- In traditional Muslim societies,

endowments supported the best and brightest

young minds to become Islamic scholars.

Islamic scholars were supported

so that they could dedicate themselves

to teaching and providing religious guidance

and clarity to the community.

Unfortunately, in our times,

we don't have such institutions.

As a result, the best and brightest young minds

don't pursue the path of Islamic scholarships

and Islamic scholars, even the most capable,

are not very often able to dedicate themselves

to teaching, guiding, and providing clarity.

A few years ago, SeekersHub started collecting zakat

to support students of knowledge in need,

to support deserving Islamic scholars.

Very quickly, we discovered that this is

an urgent area of need.

We found many cases of scholars

in the most dire of circumstances.

Scholars, like a leading Arab scholar

with disabled children, who's medical bills meant

that he had to work long hours

and was unable to teach actively,

was unable to write or research.

With your support, this scholar

has been able to teach thousands of students

around the world and has authored many

really beneficial religious works.

Your support has also helped students

dedicate themselves to study.

Students such as Sufyan,

living in a suburb of Paris,

who is dismayed and lost and confused

about how he could study,

how he could serve the community

by becoming a scholar of Islam.

By your support, Sufyan is now well

on the path to becoming a capable teacher

and scholar of prophetic guidance.

Students like the many female students of knowledge

whom we're supporting and mentoring and guiding

to become future female scholars of Islam.

How can we celebrate the great history

of female scholarship in Islam,

the thousands of female scholars

in ninth century Baghdad, if we're not committed

now to support present day female students of knowledge.

The scholars tell us that the best charity

is the charity that has the greatest impact.

Make your charity truly impactful.

Give your zakat to the SeekersHub

Global Islamic Scholars Fund.

Endless Frontier EXCEED : An amnesiac Axel meets the Alt Eisen. ( English Subbed ) - Duration: 10:25.

Natch : ...

Neige : Here it is ! The personal trooper ... Natch !

Koma : Meow ! That's sudden !

Suzuka : He was there too, during our last battle, int he Megi Castle, doing whatever evil deeds.

Susuka : As long as we're here, you won't do as you like anymore !

Natch : ...

Aledy :( Hm ? Its movements seems different from before. )

Axel : This is ...

Axel : Ooh ... My head ...

Alfimi : Axel !? Axel !

Haken : Huh ? What's going on ?

Saya : It the same as when Reiji-boy clutches his scar. Is he gonna be all right ?

Reiji : If I recall right, he said he was amnesiac. Maybe he remembered something.

Axel : A specter ... A wolf that devours everything that stands in his way ...

Axel : Yes ... his name was Nanbu ...

Kaguya : Mr.Axel ! Please, wake up ! "Wolf" ? And what do you mean by Nanbu ?

Haken : ( He knew how to input Aschen's emergecy code from the outside. )

Haken : ( And he knew that the personal troopers were build from the datas stored in the Neverland Battleship. )

Haken : ( Bingo ! I think I know the worlds these guys are from ... )

Aschen : Captain ? Is anything the matter, the problem, the trouble ?

Haken : No, it's nothing.

Haken : If Mr.Natch is here, does that means W03 is near too ?

MOMO : I searched for enemies in the nearby area but found nothing relevant.

KOSMOS : It's the Natch, but there's a possibilty we might fail to control him.

Haken : What ?

KOSMOS : I managed to indentify the energy reaction I detected from it.

KOSMOS : This is the same energy that the Einst controls.

Kyon : You can even know that ? You're awesome, KOSMOS !

Aschen : Of course, I knew it all along. I just said nothing.

Alfimi : Einst ... !

Kattse : So that means the Rasetsu-Ki who has Black Stones with him ... is really here.

Aledy : Ark-On too, just like this Natch, has been drawn here by the same power ?

Anne : Then that means he's no longer following that beret guy.

Natch : ...

Xiaomu : If he has fallen outside of enemy control, I say it's a chance for us to retrieve this Armored Armor Natch !

Dorothy : It seems so. To face it like that reminds me of the 10 years war.

Neige : Was is the one who pick a fight with my Fee-Kleid ?

Neige : ( Even though I don't even know where is my Fee-Kleid. )

Axel : ...

Haken : Axel, are you ready ?

Axel : I'm fine. Just a little headache.

Axel : I don't want to lose this feeling. You seems pretty eager to fight yourself, Haken Browning !

Haken : ( Huh ? )

Haken : OK ! No Problem ! Let's get this party started !

Axel : Yeah ... Let's Rock !

Developing an action plan for ESIF financial instruments - Duration: 10:08.

Financial instruments that you support from the European Structural

and Investment Funds can be a sustainable and efficient way to invest in growth

and development in your region or country.

They may complement grants and stimulate additional private or public investments.

In this way, they help to achieve the policy objectives

of your region or country.

If you're thinking about using financial instruments,

the best way to get started is to map out which actions to take

and to structure them step by step.

Conceptualising and planning the steps in advance

will make the set up and management process

of your financial instrument easier.

We call this an action plan.

In this video we will show you which elements it includes.

So, what are the most important elements that you should consider?

We've divided the overall lifecycle of financial instruments into four phases:

design, set up, implementation and winding-up.

In this video we will guide you through these four phases.

A well-executed design phase will help you choose the right financial instrument

and the best management structure to go with it.

A first step in this design process

is to understand that financial instruments can support

certain investment priorities within your programme.

They can be used where the activities are financially viable,

for instance generate income or revenue or savings on future expenditure,

so that final recipients are able to reimburse the loan.

The second step is an ex-ante assessment,

which analyses the market and proposes the scope of the financial instrument

and how it should be delivered.

A detailed guide and separate video, on how to do this

is available on our fi-compass website.

Some of the concrete actions to be taken next

will depend on the results of the ex-ante assessment and your choices.

For instance, you may entrust the implementation of the financial instrument

to financial intermediaries, such as a bank or an equity fund manager.

These financial intermediaries

can be useful to help managing authorities deliver support to final recipients.

You may also decide to set up a fund of funds,

as an umbrella instrument that uses several specific funds.

For instance, a fund of funds for small and medium-sized enterprises

with specific funds for loans, guarantees and equity investments.

An important step here will be to select the financial intermediaries,

or the manager of the fund of funds,

as this also includes the potential to provide or attract additional investment.

Please note that if your financial instrument

is implemented by a fund of funds

its manager will select the financial intermediaries.

Bear in mind that these implementation options are not exhaustive

and that the selection must be carried out in line with applicable laws,

in particular the law on public procurement.

In the next step funding agreements will need to be drafted.

They can be concluded. One - between the managing authority

and the body implementing the fund of funds

and subsequently, between the body implementing the fund of funds

and the financial intermediaries. Or two - between the managing authority

and the financial intermediaries, if there is no fund of funds involved.

The funding agreements must include all elements provided in Annex IV

to the Common Provisions Regulation.

For example, an investment strategy, which details

how the financial instruments should be implemented,

the financial products offered,

the target groups and possible combination with grants.

A business plan which also explains the expected leverage effect.

The target results to be achieved by the financial instrument.

Provisions concerning monitoring, reporting,

calculating and paying management costs and fees

or winding up of the financial instrument.

In addition, further legal provisions may be helpful or even necessary

such as the specification of the applicable law or mechanisms

to deal with possible disputes.

The next phase is the set up of the financial instruments.

In this phase the bodies implementing the financial instrument

will make sure that a system is put in place

to deliver the financial instrument as requested

by the managing authority and set out in the funding agreement.

This concerns the governance structure

which could for example involve a steering committee,

made up of members from the managing authority, the fund manager

and other relevant parties in the implementation of the financial instrument.

The next step will be to open a separate account for the financial instrument

to ensure proper accounting and an audit trail from the very beginning.

Once the account is in place

the first payment can be made to the financial instrument.

For example, 25% of the total programme contribution

committed to this financial instrument in the funding agreement.

Following this, the first application for interim payments,

including expenditure for the financial instrument

of a maximum of 25% of the committed program contribution

can be submitted to the European Commission.

The Commission reimburses it according to the co-financing rate

at priority access level.

Or the co-financing rate for the relevant measure in a rural development programme.

The bodies implementing the financial instruments

must also make sure that the documentation,

management and monitoring systems are operational.

This will, among other things, involve putting systems and processes in place

to provide all the data necessary for reporting

in accordance with Article 46 of the Common Provisions Regulation

and as set out in the funding agreement.

Last but not least,

the fund managers may need to further reinforce existing capabilities

to implement the financial instrument.

For instance, this may involve targeted training of staff

or the development of promotional measures towards final recipients.

Now, the implementation on the ground can start.

The financial intermediary will first select investments by final recipients

who will benefit from support delivered through concrete financial products,

such as a loan, guarantee or an equity investment.

Here it will be important to assess the eligibility of the investments

and contribution to the programmme objectives

as well as their financial viability.

Once the selection is made,

a contract will be signed between the financial intermediary

and the final recipient.

And the agreed support to the final recipient will be paid.

Please bear in mind

that the second and subsequent applications for reimbursement

can be submitted only once a predefined share of the first payment

has reached the final recipients,

such as small and medium-sized enterprises or project sponsors.

The financial intermediary will report back regularly to the managing authority

and measure the outputs and the results achieved.

The monitoring and reporting processes take place at different levels;

between the financial intermediary and the final recipients,

between the fund of funds and the financial intermediary,

between the managing authority and the financial intermediary

or the fund of funds,

between the monitoring committee and the managing authority,

and the European Commission and the managing authority.

The managing authority carries out management verifications

during the set up and implementation phases.

In addition, the audit authority could carry out an audit

on the managing authority, the fund of funds

or the financial intermediary.

Once the resources used for investments are paid back

they may be reused for further investments.

The resources that are paid back

include capital repayments with gains or other earnings,

such as interests, guarantee fees, dividends

or any other income generated by investments in final recipients.

This may be the case either within the eligibility period or beyond.

The end of the life cycle of the European Structural

and Investment Fund - financial instrument

will be reached when the managing authority exits all resources including gains.

This does not mean that the concerned fund is liquidated

as it may continue investing in national or private resources.

For further information on how to implement financial instruments

under European Structural and Investment Funds,

please refer to the documents and videos available

on the fi compass website. www.fi-compass.eu

Asked and Answered: An Ongoing Discussion (06-05-17) - Duration: 0:56.

(Ben Manning, Strategic Communications) Hello, our recent faculty staff Town Hall

focused on Human Resources Issues.

We didn't get to every question that was sent so now Penn State Senior Leaders are

responding to more of your concerns in Asked and Answered: An Ongoing Discussion.

Why do increases in healthcare costs seem to outpace salary increases?

(Greg Stoner, Senior Director of Compensation and Benefits)

Penn State's total compensation program includes many important components.

Its base salary.

Its healthcare benefits.

Its retirement.

Its paid time off.

All of these benefits and compensation are paid from the same general funds pool of assets.

So if we can collaborate together, in terms of better managing our healthcare costs, that

frees up monies to help fund other components of our total compensation program.

(Ben Manning, Strategic Communications) For more information about Human Resources

at Penn State visit OHR.PSU.edu.

And if you have a question for Asked and Answered: An Ongoing Discussion send it to questions@psu.edu.

Thanks and have a great day.

WINNER's Mino Wins Being An Idol By Turning A Famous Anti-Fan Into a Fan - Duration: 1:12.

WINNER's Mino Wins Being An Idol By Turning A Famous Anti-Fan Into a Fan

WINNERs Mino aimed, shot, and stole the heart of a famous anti-fan.

Back in 2015s Show Me The Money 4, Mino rapped (and apologized for) a controversial lyric saying, MINO targets all your daughters. Spread em like youre at a gynecologist. .

Actress Seo Yuri took to Twitter to make a related comment against the lyrics saying, These days, some people think they were born out of an egg and not their mothers belly.

The comment marked her an anti-fan as she became overwhelmed with numerous death threats from Inner Circles around the world, but she always stood by her post.

But apparently, the hostility towards Mino is fast forgotten in 2017, because the actress is all about the groups latest hit song, REALLY.

Thats Mino for ya! Winning anti-fans to fans all day, everyday.

Pakistan more of a Threat than an Ally US think tank - Duration: 2:46.

Pakistan is still a sanctuary for the Taliban and the Haqqani network and more of a threat

than an ally, a top US think tank has said, while asserting that the Trump administration

should make it clear to Islamabad that it will face sanctions if it continues to support

them.

"Afghanistan is currently doing badly both in the fighting and in its civilian politics,

governance, and poverty.

Pakistan is still a sanctuary for the Taliban and Haqqani network and more of a threat than

an ally," the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) said in a report released yesterday.

Authored by Anthony H Cordesman, CSIS's Arleigh A Burke, Chair in Strategy, the report said

there has to be a better strategy and a better approach to both the military and civil dimensions

of the war to provide a reason to stay.

"No commitment should be open ended.

The Afghans have to do far more, and do it far better, to justify each future year of

US commitment," the report said.

"The United States should make it clear to Pakistan that it faces a total end to aid,

and the imposition of sanctions, if it continues to support the Taliban and tolerate the Haqqani

network," it said.

Russia should be told that any end to US sanctions will depend on it not supporting the Taliban,

and the Unites States should reach out to China to make it clear that Chinese cooperation

in dealing with Afghanistan and Pakistan can serve both Chinese and American interests,

the report said.

CSIS said the US should make it totally clear that it will conduct a public annual review

of its commitments to Afghanistan and the Afghan performance.

"It should make it clear that it can and will leave in the face of Afghan failure.

If necessary, the United States should make good on such a threat," it said.

"It should send a clear message to all 'partner states' that they must meet reasonable standards

of performance.

The United States should never bully its allies, but it also should not be bullied -- or let

nations slip into the kind of overdependence that ultimately undermines rather than aids

them," the CSIS said

The Philosophy of LOGAN – Wisecrack Edition - Duration: 13:32.

hey wisecrack Jared again and today we're talking about one of the best

superhero movies in years Logan Logan is radically different from other superhero

movies and especially other x-men movies that's because well it's not really a

superhero movie at all this fresh approach to the franchise puts forward a

surprising message about the world's relationship to nature and even a meta

commentary on the Marvel Cinematic Universe that you might have missed

welcome to this wise crack edition on the philosophy of Logan and you guessed

it spoilers ahead but first a quick recap Logan is the heart-tugging tail of

Wolverine Charles Xavier and their refugee kid Laura evading cyborg child

predators out to weaponize mutantcy it takes place in a future where mutants

have become nearly extinct and Logan drives an uber to save enough money to

escape from the law with Charles before we can dive into the philosophy we have

to understand what the movie is it's a Western and not just because it's sandy

and takes place in you know the West according to sociologists Will Write in

his book six guns in society the classic Western follows a pretty standard

structure our hero often a man from the wild enters a social group gets dragged

into a conflict to protect his new civilized friends before finally saving

the day and usually becoming a part of this new group to grasp Logan's Western

roots pay attention to be from the wild part When I found you, you were pursuing a career

as a cage fighter I gave you a family throughout all the x-men movies both

good and so bad we're reminded of Wolverines

animal nature people don't change Wolverine, you're an animal then you're an animal now I

just gave you claws Logan doesn't really find a new group of friends but

finds a family with Laura and Charles and later with the other Transigen kids

the film makes a point to juxtapose the civilized love of his friends with his

innate wild nature there's Logan violence his resilience to pick up Laura

in the first place not available call a cab is swearing out of my car and we

even get some distinctly animal-like noises while Logan is sleeping

as an ode to all this we see Charles and Laura watching a classic Western in

their hotel room Shane in the film our gun-slinging hero Shane emerges from the

wild makes friends with some homesteaders and saves them from a

cattle baron shane realizes his violent ways have no place in society and rides

back into the woods perhaps to die depending on who you ask

replace homesteaders with family and cattle baron with mega-corporations and

you've got Logan in a nutshell a very deliberate nutshell but as much as Logan

is a Western like Shane it's also a post Western in the tradition of movies like

Clint Eastwood's Unforgiven a post Western discards be tired black and

white binaries between good and evil it explores what happens when these men of

the Wild West return to a drastically different world one that has moved past

them they are in short about living in the end of an era Charles the world not

the same as it was. Just as I post Western might feature a Cowboys violent nature

as a relic of the pre-industrial era you want to come along

ain't like it used to be but it'll do Logan features Wolverine as a relic from the

age of mutants he like a post Western hero has to grapple with what it means

to be living in a new world a world where mutants are nearly extinct the

only evidence of Logan's former world is an x-men comic book with that in mind

we can start to understand what Logan is trying to say about nature all we need

is a little help from a 500 year old English legal practice seriously let me

explain nature as a theme is everywhere in Logan

Charles tends to a garden Logan wants to escape the world and live on the open

seas and Charles compares Laura to wildlife and by the way Laurens foot

claws of the obvious result of her gender, Ya know? Is that a fact? Nature is also juxtaposed

with technology natural mutants are set up against cyborgs twice we're reminded

that Laura isn't natural she's not a natural f*ck up like you. She's a business

mistake R&D gone bad unlike you she isn't pure she wasn't made by nature

the family farm is pinned up against a giant agricultural company pumping corn

syrup into our body and Charles laments being pharmaceutically castrated by all

the drugs he's taking I guess you'd prefer me pharmaceutically castrated rambling

on like a lunatic and Logan a natural mutant is being killed by his artificial

adamantium skeleton there's a specific historical development that embodies the

struggle and can teach us a bit about how our world and Logan's works

it's called enclosure enclosure was an English practice of taking communal land

free for anyone's use and enclosing it into private farms cutting it off from

the public the underlying logic is take something opened unpredictable imperfect

and uncontrollable and order it with rules and laws to the detriment of the

public in the West vast open swaths of land were free for animals to graze in

before the advent of barbed wire encouraged farmers to fence them in to

the detriment of these free spaces enclosure not only motivates the

conflict in Shane they expect to find any fences around here but all the

themes in Logan seem designed to reflect it too in Shane a group of homesteaders

Duke it out with the cattle Baron's to see who has the right to order the wet

that's Riker's spread all that over there. Thinks the whole world belongs to him

whether that order is for everyday people God didn't make all this country

just for one man like Riker or for the cattle Baron's moneyed interest in Logan

the Munson's Duke it out with transition over this same issue of land a

conversation about eminent domain becomes very enclosureesque as public water

becomes unavailable to the Munsons. When we wouldn't sell they tried eminent

domain been screwing with our water. And Logan yearns to be on the open ocean a place

free of borders and the creeping encroachment of corporate enclosure but

this focus on enclosure takes on another meaning as Logan and Charles Duke it out

with transigen to see who has the right to order the future of mutantcy see,

conflicts of enclosure are not necessarily of open space but of well

everything as writer Raoul Martinez notes enclosure has moved beyond territories

extending the reach of markets into every corner of our lives in what some

have dubbed an enclosure of the mind intellect

property rights are being extended to include facets of life that were once

considered uncommodifiable, algorithms symbols words ideas seeds and even human

genes in other words if pythagoras were alive today somebody would have patented

his theorem and created some kind of triangle based startup ideas which once

freely contributed to society our patents and commodities to be traded

gene sequence is freely available in nature are becoming the intellectual

property of pharmaceutical companies transition has turned the genetic

information of Wolverine and countless other mutants into patents and R&D

projects. They can't have things with patents run around hurtin' people can they? it's

not just like companies are making a profit off someone else's gene the core

logic of enclosure is turn any semblance of the Commons which is unmanageable and

potentially dangerous and turn it into something manageable the goal was not

to end mutant-kind, but to control it. when it comes to the enclosure of genetic

material the naturally occurring version becomes a liability to the corporate

interest seeking to profit off their own artificial version random mutantcy went

the way of Polio. We embarked on our next endeavor.

Growing mutants of your own. Precisely. hence the Wild West of

naturally-occurring mutants must end just as Shane marks the end of the

lawless open land logan marks the end of organic mutantcy. mutant powers are fine so

long as they are in the hands of a corporation that allegedly has

everything under control meanwhile events like Charles seizures

become proof that natural mutantcy is dangerous and uncontrollable I'm sorry

enclosure creates a world where state and business-friendly are walled off

from the unwieldy wild and anything outside these borders must slowly be

incorporated into the logic of borders both real and metaphorical are not lost

on Logan the beginning of the film shows Logan navigating between the United

States and Mexico the border operates to let American businessman and partygoers

in and out in the service of business while presumably keeping everything else

out the films ending when Laura and her friends escape to Canada doesn't give us

a physical border but the open expanses of the Canadian wilderness this creeping

control of business into all aspects of life frames Logan's eternal struggle a

man who drives around people for money Logan only initially risks his life for

Laura for a fat back of tasks meanwhile Charles serves as a counterpoint all of

that gardening stuff becomes a compelling metaphor for Logan. Charles

nurtures people out of compassion and encourages Logan to care for Laura

regardless of money. She's your daughter Logan. This nurturing attitude is juxtaposed with

Pierce who reminds Caliban, I got a theory that, people don't really change. And dr. Rice who

prefers artificial design over nature. You can't nurture rage simply design it from scratch.

the real battle for Laura is a battle for her soul will she be like

Logan a man who can't break the mold or can she avoid his mistakes by living

with a nurturing family Logan eventually seems to side with Charles opting to

refuse the money from Laura and give up his life

Logan's nemesis x24 is a soulless version of himself a compelling reminder

of what he could have been a mindless mercenary at the beck and call of his

corporate masters and the final showdown with the Reavers

we get a real Captain Planet moment when all the kids use elemental forces ice

electricity and grass to kill a reaver. Laura gives a eulogy for the fallen

Logan reciting the words from Shane. Now you run up home to your mother. tell her

everything's alright, ain't no more guns in the valley. you run on home to your mother and tell

her tell her everything's alright not any more guns inside in Shane these

words justify his retreat back into nature while his violent ways saved the

homesteaders they can never exist alongside the town they hope to build

devoid of violence Shane can't break the mold and neither can Logan that has to

be what it is Joey can't break the mold. Can't break the mold

Laura's words remind us that Logan's violence was incompatible with the

future Charles had hoped for Laura but his violence also enabled them to

build that better future free from violence and the interference of people

like transigen it's the end of an era for the x-men and Logan's sacrifice

established a new world for his daughter so while Logan shows a triumph over the

logic of enclosure what if it's also served to be a sly commentary on the

state of comic book movies let's not forget that westerns were Hollywood's

bread-and-butter for many years similar to how superhero movies are today if we

want to reframe nature versus business to artistry versus business the struggle

of Logan as a character reflects the battle over the soul of Wolverine in the

ruthless profiteering world of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and they're

pissing contest with Fox who owns the x-men rights nothing is sacred Marvel

allegedly canceled Fantastic Four comics to deprive Fox of source material Fox

will sue the hell out of Marvel if any of their movies dare say the word

mutants and entire movies are made just to that Fox, Sony, or Marvel can retain

Virtus.pro at EPICENTER: Moscow: "A dream have to be unattainable"–An interview with No[o]ne |Dota 2 - Duration: 9:12.

Hi, Vova! We've prepared some fan questions for you. We got them from VP's social page, and I'm going to ask them now.

Are you ready to answer?

What if I say no? – You don't have any options. Let's go, shall we? – Let's go.

First question, very odd and interesting.

When you're playing in tournaments, do you have any specific favorite places in the booth or onstage?

Does someone make a point of sitting in the same place?

A special sitting arrangement was made for us—it probably just happened to be what it was—

which we find comfortable sitting in. We stick to it now.

Who do you always sit between? – Between Pasha and Lil.

Who among your teammates has become your biggest friend in the time that you've been playing together?

I guess it's the same for everyone, but if I have to mention someone in particular, then Pasha, I guess.

Simply because it sometimes happens that we share the same hotel room.

Or, more precisely, it always happens.

Pasha himself told us that he lives and hangs out with you because there's always something to talk about with you.

That's why you two get on well together, it turns out.

Please tell us about your first games as a professional player.

What team were you on perhaps, what tournaments you were in: your first steps in the pro scene.

It's quite hard to remember. It must have been with Team Ask, against MYM—Meet Your Makers.

I no longer remember exactly what happened there, when, or how. So I'm sorry. I just can't remember.

And how many years ago was it?

I don't know. Three years, three and a half.

How did your esports career affect your life? What changed?

We travel around the world all the time—for tournaments, for bootcamps—so naturally

I haven't spent a lot of time at home lately.

Over the past six months, I was only [home] for one month out of the six.

Essentially that's all. It's the only difference between me and a regular Dota player.

That, and the fact that we play all the time, always sitting in front of computers. Compared to a normal person.

I've just thought of a question myself. You see, just the other day, I came across this discussion, about how–

–a professional Dota player, when walking up onstage, is thinking,

"right, I'm going to make a million now." And it's the only thing driving them.

Could you add to that idea?

I feel it's completely untrue, a bunch of lies, and what actually happens is altogether different.

What do you guys really think when you're walking up onstage?

Not sure about "you guys", it'll just be what I think, as everyone is different.

I can't know what some other player is thinking during their entrance.

Personally, I think about how to win, and how cool it would be if I won.

The money—well, obviously, it gives the game significance, as we all play to win.

And the money is just a prize, which is what we essentially play for sometimes.

How can I put it. The money always fades into the background. Compared to–

You don't think about money in-game.

Thinking "right, I'm going to last-hit this creep now and get a million dollars for it"—it's certainly not like that.

What you're thinking is, "I'm going to last-hit that creep, then this or that happens, and we win, awesome, a team, victorious."

Pity we didn't win.

You'll win yet, it's going to be fine. A phrase or a quote that motivates you?

Some famous words perhaps, or something personal of your own, some motto in life.

I guess, "to live in spite of all, welcoming whatever there is".

Interesting, philosophical. Profound.

"What are your plans for your future life if you win The International?"

is what people want to know in the comments.

No particular plans really. You never think about, well–

I have a dream. I generally feel that a dream must be unattainable.

But it's not a problem if it is possible to attain.

Because you put all your effort into getting to it, achieving it.

And if I do win, then we'll see.

I don't think about it. Perhaps I'll even go on playing, I don't know yet.

Perhaps I'll end my career and start doing something else. Who knows.

Another question. What hero and what player are the most difficult to oppose on mid?

A difficult question, as it doesn't have a specific answers.

There is probably no such hero o player. It depends on our hero setup against the opponent.

On the combo. – You can put it like that too.

Why has your skill increased so much on this particular roster, the Virtus.pro roster?

I've actually always played at roughly the same level.

It's just that this roster doesn't have any weak spots—well, almost none, and our stronger sides prevail over them.

And we win.

We've been on an upward path so far. When everything is bad—which hopefully doesn't happen, fingers crossed—then we'll see.

What does Virtus.pro mean to you?

Is it your team, or has it become more than just a team?

Are there moments when you feel like sharing something with your teammates even more readily–

–than you would with your close friends or family members?

Well, essentially they're my second family. In a manner of speaking, of course.

We constantly spend time together, hang out, crack jokes, etc. etc. That's the answer, essentially.

Do the guys help you get through some depressing moments, or some ups and downs?

You know, when you're feeling really down, and you can truly find support among your teammates.

I do everything myself.

If I'm feeling down, I confront it on my own and sort it out, if that's the right term.

Volodya here is a rock-hard man. A question from the town of Voskresensk; my favorite question actually.

How do you prefer to eat sandwiches: ham side up or down?

Never thought about it. That's my answer. – All right. We'll be sure to tell.

Vova, how did you decide that the mid lane was your thing? Have you tried other roles?

I've answered this question many times before. When I was just beginning to play Dota, I saw Na`Vi,

I saw that Dendi was super-popular on mid.

Winning against everyone. And essentially all midlaners are like that; they're always popular when the team's doing well.

Well, almost always.

That was why I decided to play in that role. And it worked for me somehow.

I went on and on and on. And here I am.

Could you recollect some really funny thing that happened during a game, a match, a tournament–

–one that you remember to this day and laugh like crazy about it. The hands-down funniest moment of them all.

You don't get funny moments in the booth. It's all serious. Well, except when–

Nah, there hasn't been anything that would make us literally laugh and so on, and keep thinking back to it. No such thing.

What book or event influenced you in a formative way,

and how do I avoid tilting during important games? That's all one question.

A book, Three Comrades by Remarque. A very good book which I read about a year ago by now.

It was a significant influence.

An event… I'm not going to talk about it. What was the third question?

What helps against tilting during important games?

I never tilt. Only in CWs.

Official statement: Vladimir Minenko never tilts.

How long does it take on average to practice a strategy?

It's different every time. There was the strategy we played against iG in the Boston Major semifinal

—that time, we only practiced it three times–

–before realizing it was a super-strong strategy that would only work once in the tournament, but it would work 100%.

Other strategies can take ten to twenty games to hone.

And a final question, a shiningly optimistic one.

What was your dream as a kid, and has it come true?

There was a lot in my childhood, I can't remember everything. No, it hasn't. I suppose.

And did you perhaps dream of getting to the pro scene as a kid?

All right, this one has come true. I didn't dream of it as such, I just thought I had what it took to do it. It wasn't a dream.

Thank you, Vova. I think our fans—was this what you meant to show?

No, no. – What's up with your finger then? – My finger? Well, I cut it this morning.

Accidentally peeled some skin right off it with my razor.

Stay whole, Vova. Now hurry up and go prepare for the next games, heal your finger, make sure

no enemies attack your playing hand anymore.

There. And good luck to you in the rest of the group stage. Thanks for your answers.

The Insane Plan to Tow an Iceberg to the Middle East - Duration: 4:23.

Iceberg ahead!

Shhh...don't scare it!

How else are we going to capture the berg and bring it back home?

There are some downright crazy schemes out there that defy common sense.

Ready for one?

A United Arab Emirates company wants to tow a 3.5 million-ton iceberg from Antarctica

and bring it back to their desert homeland.

They want to use the iceberg as a tourist attraction and as a source of fresh, drinkable

water for their citizens.

In the firm's splashy ad, animals in Antarctica come along for the ride too, including polar

bears! … which don't actually live in Antarctica.

Also, what happens when they get there?

They're not exactly, like, set up for desert life…

Humans suck.

Okay, we'll play ball for a second.

This is how iceberg towing could "work," based on the latest computer simulations.

An iceberg would be carefully selected for shape and size, and then it'd be fitted

with a giant insulated skirt at the waterline.

Then the berg would be pulled by a gigantic tugboat that would travel at a speed of roughly

one knot… which means it would take 283 days of nonstop, full bore tugging, 24/7 to

get there.

BTW in that time they estimate the iceberg would lose over 30% of its overall mass. This

all sounds totally doable in theory, and that's exactly where this zany idea has existed for

centuries: in theory.

See, iceberg towing isn't a new concept.

It's one of those technological wonders that's floated around media circles and

keeps popping up like a never-ending game of wac-a-mole.

The idea first appeared in the 1800s, initially proposed as a way to "equalize the temperature

of the earth."

They were worried about rising temperatures back then!

Neat huh.

Iceberg towing kept circling in dream space until it got some serious attention around

the 1970s.

NASA and various think tanks wrote technical reports on its feasibility (Spoiler: not

cost effective).

Then a French engineer and a Saudi prince proposed using icebergs to solve the world's

growing water crisis.

There was a conference in Iowa, a landlocked state of all places, devoted exclusively on

how to export icebergs.

To get delegates excited, the Prince actually shipped a "one-ton mini berg" from Alaska

to Iowa to be used for research and to keep cocktails chilled.

Suffice it to say, the plans were all at sea..

Beyond the technical challenges iceberg towing poses, there are other factors that make this

incredibly impractical.

First, the cost.

One iceberg-towing vessel can cost $75,000 a day, and to get a massive berg from Antarctica

to UAE -- for this journey that might be 21-and-a-quarter million dollars.

And they might need multiple towing ships for months.

It might be easier to just build a desalination plant.

Secondly, taking icebergs out of their native habitat could fly in the face of international

law and wouldn't be great for the environment.

The eco firm claims that the iceberg will transform UAE's desert landscape into a

lush paradise, creating a "microclimate" around the glacier.

While it's true that icebergs can create a mini climate within its proximity, it's

not going to turn the desert into a cloud forest.

While iceberg towing to quench the world's thirst is still a lot of hype, moving ice

around to suit our human needs does actually happen today.

And guess who's chiefly behind that?

Oil companies.

Sometimes megaton icebergs can change direction in a storm and when pushed by high wind speeds,

they'll be on a collision course with an oil rig … which can't exactly run away.

So, to make areas safer for oil and gas exploration, companies will lasso looming begs and use

tugboats to move them just a bit away from oil platforms.

I have to say, an iceberg posing a challenge to an oil rig is a feat of poetic mother earth

justice.

How an Islamic Mosque Became Home to a Jewish Congregation - Duration: 6:45.

My journey to a peaceful world

begins in the morning of September 11, 2001.

[Reporter] A plane has crashed into one of the towers

of the World Trade Center.

Immediately there was attachment

of the Muslim world, my religion, to the most heinous crime

in the history of New York City.

No hell no, this is not who we are.

This is not our religion.

This is not what I believe.

So from that moment on, I knew that our mission

of promoting peaceful coexistence has begun.

Since September 11th, 2011 Islam has been

at the center of many of our most

contentious political debates.

Immigration, religious freedom, foreign policy.

People across the political spectrum are angry,

confused, and frustrated.

This is the story of one man's efforts

to have a more productive conversation about Islam.

And it starts in New York.

New York is a place where every language,

every color and creed, every religion,

they co-mingle peacefully.

Sheikh Moussa Drammeh is a Muslim immigrant

from Gambia.

After I arrived in New York I said,

this is where I belong.

Eventually he met his wife Sharina,

they had some kids, and decided

to start an Islamic Mosque, school and cultural center.

They found a building, it's not your typical place

of worship, but it worked for them.

So after a few months of preparation

they were ready to start their Islamic school.

The date, September 11th, 2001.

We were excited, we had about 13 students,

and eight o'clock the school opened.

[Reporter] We understand that a plane has crashed...

The events of that morning threw New York City

into chaos.

People were calling Moussa, and telling him

to close his school.

Then he made a fateful decision.

The school will not close because if

this is happening, and immediately they are attaching it

to our religion then we have moral obligation

to be open and let people talk to us about who we are,

what we believe, what is the difference between us and

these Muslim extremists.

After September 11th, Moussa had a lot

of different feelings.

You know you can't describe it,

the feeling of embarrassment,

the feeling of hurt and pain and disappointment.

It led to seven months of introspection.

He reconsidered his faith.

The conclusion was in order for us to live

like real Muslims, then we have to respect the life,

and from there I realized that the best thing

that we can do as Muslims is to create environments

where there is a peaceful co-existence.

And one day he got a real opportunity

to demonstrate that.

I'm only gonna answer what you want because I could

go on for four days.

So this is Leon Blackman, do not ask about

the black eye, he didn't want to talk about it.

I told you over the phone, that's between you and me.

You guys should see the other guy.

I knew Musa for years because I had a few Muslims

that I was friends with.

At that time Leon was the treasurer

for his Jewish Synagogue in the Bronx.

That's right.

And Leon had a problem.

After years of declining membership,

this mostly elderly congregation was forced to abandon

their worship space and couldn't even afford

the small store front they were leasing.

We had no place to do anything.

Leon didn't tell Moussa,

who learned through a mutual friend of theirs Pat.

When the request came from Patricia

to help say call it my Jewish folks.

Immediately I said yes let them come.

Having the Muslims and Jewish co-existing at a Mosque

was an opportunity too good for us not to enjoy.

So almost every Friday,

a group of Jewish congregants and an Islamic congregation

pray under the same roof.

But when this first started,

some people in Moussa's congregation

weren't too pumped about that.

Well the Muslim community, majority of them

thought we were the craziest,

anti-Islamic people that God ever created.

Having a synagogue in a mosque was something

that they could not tolerate.

One day, they created an organized boycott.

He argued to his congregation

that there was nothing in the Quran

that prevented the practice.

It was about principle for Musa, he was pretty adamant.

We were not budging, we did not second guess,

we had no doubt, and we were not compromising.

The boycott organizers never came back,

but the people that they convinced all came back

plus they came with almost the same degree of understanding

that guess what, there is nothing wrong,

as a matter of fact it is Islamic for us to be hospitable

to these Jewish folks and others.

All of this meant a heck of a lot

to people like Leon.

To be honest with you, he's like an angel in heaven.

That's my honest to goodness opinion of him.

He's like an angel in heaven.

Moussa's Islamic cultural center was one of

the last places that Leon Blackman ever worshiped.

He passed away on February 11th, 2017.

Hosting Leon and this Jewish congregation

is just one of the things Moussa's doing.

He co-hosts interfaith events for kids

at the museum of Jewish heritage,

and events like this one

where scholars lecture on religious tolerance.

As human beings, what brings us all together

is our humanity first.

Moussa knows hosting the Jewish congregation

is a small gesture, but a meaningful one.

We are making sure that the majority

of these older Jewish folks will not live their last days

on this earth yearning for the days where they live

next to family and friends.

We are now taking care of them, we are taking care

of their needs.

He hopes that this is just a small part

of a broader counter narrative about Islam.

The motto of the Bronx is, we refuse to yield to evil,

and this is a message we want the world to know

that Muslims, and Jews, and Catholics,

and Buddhism you name it.

We're all human beings, and we all live symbiotically.

We're a single family now taking care of each other.

Why Experts Think the GSLV Mk III Is a Big Deal for ISRO and India - Duration: 10:41.

4the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) successfully launch the GSLV Mk III variant

of its Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV) At 5:28 pm on June 5. It is an historic

occasion for the India's space programme. The GSLV Mk III is ISRO's most muscular

launch vehicle to date, being able to lift 4,000 kg of payloads to the geostationary

transfer orbit (GTO) and 8,000 kg to the low-Earth orbit (LEO). These capacities have been enabled

by a third stage powered by an indigenous cryogenic engine, the development of which

has engaged ISRO's best for over two decades. Naturally, the success of this rocket mean

a lot for India, in a variety of ways that can be difficult to assimilate. So here are

five experts view on GSLV belonging to different field like space policy, space science, commercial

spaceflight, geopolitics and journalism. Rajeshwari Rajagopalan Pillai, Senior fellow

and Head, Nuclear & Space Policy Initiative, Observer Research Foundation said,

The successful launch of GSLV Mk III vehicle, which showcase ISRO's fully indigenous cryogenic

upper stage, is a major achievement for India. So far, India has relied on the French Ariane

5 rocket to launch its heavy satellites and it has remained an important component of

India-France space cooperation. Two decades ago, this technology was denied to India by

the Soviet Union under pressure from the US. Export controls on strategic technologies

were used to prevent India from developing missile or nuclear technology. Today, the

equations have changed and India is on the other side of the table.

At a practical level, India's development of the GSLV Mk III, capable of launching four-tonne

satellites into geostationary orbit, relieves India of dependency on foreign players to

launch its heavy satellites. This has been an expensive proposition. The successful GSLV

Mk III test maked India somewhat self-reliant in launching heavier communication satellites.

India's capability to launch heavy satellites also has significant positive commercial spin-offs.

This will make India an important player in the multibillion-dollar global satellite launch

market, making India a cost effective and reliable partner for heavy satellite launches,

generating additional revenue for ISRO. Given that the future satellite launch market will

have a big focus on heavy communication satellites, India has a strong incentive to master this

launch vehicle, as it has done with its PSLV. The heavy launcher has the potential also

to be used in a future Indian human space programme, even though it is not clear that

a political decision on whether India wants to do one or not has been taken yet. Lastly,

the enhanced launch capability builds up India's potential to undertake deep space exploration

more seriously.

Rajaram Nagappa, Visiting professor, National Institute of Advanced Studies said,

After the successful launch of the South Asia Satellite by ISRO and successful launch of

four-tonne class GSLV Mk III vehicle. The vehicle launched the 3,200-kg GSAT 19 satellite,

which carry communication, scientific and experimental payloads. The GSLV Mk III lower

stages are derived from proven technologies of PSLV and GSLV mark II. The cryogenic third

stage C25, however uses elements of technology different from the cryogenic upper stage of

the GSLV Mk II. The cryogenic upper stage C25 employs a gas generator cycle. The GSLV

Mk III D1 launcher carry the GSAT-19 satellite (with Ku and Ka band payloads), scientific

experiments and an indigenous lithium-ion battery. ISRO had earlier developed similar

batteries for Mangalyaan. Jayant Murthy, Senior professor, Indian Institute

of Astrophysics said, Scientists always want bigger and better.

The Hubble telescope has 2.4-meter mirror with a mirror weight alone of 800 kg and a

spacecraft weight of 11 tonnes. On the other hand, Indian flagship Astrosat spacecraft

has a mass of only 1.6 tonnes and the Ultraviolet Imaging Telescope has a mirror diameter of

only 35 cm. Clearly we have much ground to cover. The additional lifting capacity of

the GSLV Mk III launcher will let us start planning for more ambitious missions with

larger mirrors and more advanced instrumentation. R. Ramachandran, journalist of Frontline said,

The new beast from ISRO's stable, the GSLV Mk III also known as LVM-3, launched from

Launchpad at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, is a testimony to the decades

of perseverance of ISRO scientists to master the complex cryogenic combustion technology.

GSAT-19 carries a bus system experiment in electric propulsion. The Electric Propulsion

System can significantly reduce the fuel satellites need to carry. This leaves more room for payloads

if we want to pack more into the satellite, and it reduces the satellite weight. The satellite

with Electric Propulsion System carried just 25% of chemical fuel that is around 80 kg

compare to normally required chemical fuel around 320 kg. "To cut that burden to just

25% is a game changer. It allows us to manage satellites with long lives.

Gagan Agrawal, analyst of Northern Sky Research, ex-ISRO person said,

Demand and supply is of key importance in the open market for commercial satellite launches,

and commercial spaceflight is an area in which ISRO aspires to do well in the medium to long

term. The GSLV Mk III, with its ability to lift 4000 kg to the GTO, assumes pole position

in ISRO's plan to cater to both domestic and international markets.

From a domestic perspective, there are two principal problems. First: Being able to launch

payloads of 3-4 tonnes will reduce India's dependence on foreign nations to launch home-built

satellites. Currently, the European company Arianespace is being used to launch many of

India's GTO satellites. Second: the communications market has been limited by the number of transponders

available in Indian skies. So focusing on increasing the GSLV Mk III's payload size

to 4-5 tonnes will be key in determining whether ISRO can push the transponder envelope to

greater than 48 per satellite and launch them onboard a domestic vehicle in the future.

Overall, the domestic capability would augur well for ISRO – not just with respect to

the 40-50% savings on launch costs but also on the R&D and human capital gained from the

project. From an international perspective, the commercial

market traditionally supports a maximum of three players, with a few peripheral players.

This leaves little room for the GSLV MK II as well as mark III to compete. Currently,

the world's main launch vehicles are Ariane 5, Falcon 9, Soyuz, ULA's Delta and Atlas.

Newer vehicles anticipated from the Arianespace and Blue Origin and the market is getting

more crowded. Now bulk of the satellite communication launch demand today served by Ariane 5 and

Falcon 9, it is their space that the GSLV Mk III will have to penetrate. It remains

to be seen if this will happen – especially by also remaining as a lower-cost option.

For starters, a good success rate like its predecessor GSLV Mk II, will go a long way

in establishing international confidence in the GSLV Mk III to launch medium- to high-range

communications satellites. And in the aftermath of such success, ISRO is bound to place fewer

orders to launch geosynchronous satellite launches that have been historically addressed

by Arianespace. Its rise could also signal the emergence of a new, competitive option

that fledgling space nations could look up to, other than the U S, Russia, Europe and

China.
