SAVE a 3D PRINT: Shop time # 17 - Duration: 6:46.

hi everybody

and welcome in hell

i was printing with

wood filament

i had problem at the beginning of the print

and i still had problem now

ho crap

today what i'm printing is

a protective case for my new phone

because my old

nexus 5x

decided not to turn on

i decided to test

on this occasion the wood filament

after i realized that the wood filament

is very brittle

let's take out this crap

so it's really stupid

to use it for making a smartphone case

the print just stop right in the middle

i will try

to recover this

we see that it was stuck

plastic was not comming out ...

i will try to cut it and put it back in

currently the print stopped at this state

i will mesure with my caliper

The height at which it is

and re-export a file

starting the print at this new height

Hoping it works

now we will see if it will touch the old print or not

it touches

ho shit it's perfect

multiple important thing to remember in case of interruption of printing

that is

Power failure

not any more plastic comming out

for exemple

because there is no more plastic maybe ..

keep the printer

on

or hurry to put it back on

mainly the heating bed !

it's better to move the print head

out of your print

to avoid making a big ball of plastic

that would make the process of continuing the print more difficult

it could also melt your piece

when i print something generally

i live my slicer opened

slicer is the software to

take my 3d file and translate it in a code that the printer understand

and here by keeping my slicer opened in the way i prepared my print

etc

i can go here in Simplify 3D

the slicing software i use and like

in my parameter

in the advance tab there is

"start the print at a precise height"

after i take my caliper

Measure my height

and if it's precise enough

the print will continu with miminum damage

it seems to work

also i didn't realise a shop time since more than one month now

i was on tour

before the tour i build my flight case for my instruments.

i will do little video

i already release one

about the tour

there will be 3 in total i think

we did a tour of France

Troyes

Paris

Caen

Bordeaux

Montpelier

Marseille

Besançon

2 week of tour we played a lot

it was very cool

with my firend "Dr Supersnick" and " Nuance d'engrais"

In the meantime I moved in a new flat

i went on tour

that also why i didn't had much time to make video

the print is over

i will let it cool down

It should take off by itself

i will end the cleaning with the heat gun

to remove the last tiny filament

that are useless

I heard a crack

It's past

it hold the phone inside

i tried something a bit different

i use wet sandpaper

the result is a surface

less powdery white like before

it's more clean more woodich

the inside is a bit dirty but it will be hidden

it's crazy it really look and feel like wood

it's inside the bottom part hold up

i now have a wood case !

it hold well inside

the back

it's so cool

but since it's not so tuff this wood filament

i decided to do another one

in

phosphorescent, phosphorescent green

very flashy

here the quality is realy nice

and i print super fast ~90mm/s

so i got a nice PLA case now !
