Koepka wins U.S. Open, Matsuyama makes a charge - Duration: 3:10.

Ladies and gentleman, your 117th U.S. Open champion Brooks Koepka…

What a final round at Erin Hills and a record-setting week!

With a stacked leaderboard heading into Sunday, Brooks Koepka was just 1-stroke back of 54-hole

leader Brian Harman at the beginning of the day.

And while the scores were not low like they had been all week due to Sunday's gusty

winds -- Koepka separated himself from the pack and made it clear, this year's U.S.

Open was his….

Koepka came out hot, almost chipping one in on 2 that setup his second birdie in as many

holes.

Harman, though, wasn't going anywhere when he sank a killer putt on the par 4, 3rd.

Just when you thought that was a long one, Koepka returned the favor and rolled in a

monster on 8.

But then along came Hideki Mastuyama, who made the strongest run on Sunday – and got

the crowd going with his crazy approach that spun back right at the hole.

Matsuyama finished up with the best round of the day at 66 and 12-under-par total.

That might have lit a fire under the PGA TOUR winner, because the 27-year-old went ahead

and birdied the toughest hole on the course on Sunday at 15 and sank his 3rd birdie in

a row on 16 for good measure.

It was smooth sailing after that.

Koepka's 16-under-par tied Rory McIlory's lowest total score in relation to par at the

U.S. Open.

It's hard not to draw a comparison between Koepka and last year's U.S. Open Champ and

current FedEx Cup No. 1, Dustin Johnson.

The two are great friends, they train together, are both incredible athletes, heck they have

even lived together.

Saturday night, Brooks got a phone call from DJ telling him that he is good enough to win.

He is now the 7th consecutive first time major winner, and there were a few more that wanted

that break-through title this weekend too...

Rickie Fowler was in the mix on Sunday thanks to his record-setting 65 on Thursday.

The 28-year-old continued to show off his sand skills on 16 with an INCREDIBLE bunker

save from a super awkward stance.

Fowler went on to rack up his 6th-career Top 5 in a major.

After his historic 9-under-par on Saturday, Justin Thomas faded in the final round – shooting

plus-3

Before we leave, we have to give a shout-out to 50-year-old Wisconsin native Steve Stricker

who sank incredible back-to-back bombs on 16 & 17 to finish tie for 16th.

Thanks for joining us all weekend long here on The Takeaway.

But wait, we aren't done yet!

Tune in Monday for Trending On TOUR, where I will recap the week that was and all that

was trending on social media.

See you there!

Lockheed Martin about to close US $37 bil. F-35 fighter jet deal: Reuters - Duration: 0:56.

U.S. weapons maker Lockheed Martin is reportedly set to clinch a deal to sell a record 440

F-35 fighter jets to a group of eleven nations including South Korea and the United States.

Reuters cited two people familiar with the talks on Sunday, who said negotiations are

in the final stages for a deal worth more than 37 billion U.S. dollars.

It would be the largest agreement for the stealth jets ahead of its Paris Airshow debut

this week.

The sale represents a major shift in sales practices from annual purchases to more economic

multi-year deals that lower the cost of each jet.

This is set to consist of three tranches over fiscal years 2018 to 2020.

Although the sources said prices are yet to be finalized, the average price of each jet

over the three-year period was expected to be 85 million dollars.

Germany to welcome US startup Nextdoor - Duration: 4:52.

-Hi Sarah, thank you for joining us here. -Thank you for having me.

-I'm looking forward to talking to you about your plans for Germany and Nextdoor

now that you are going to be launching and that happens... -Tuesday we're

launching June 20th and we're excited to be here in Germany. -What are you

envisioning as far as user base and reach initially? -So you know we started

Nextdoor in the United States with a few hundred neighborhoods and now we've

grown to over 143,000 neighborhoods, so we

understand that the way to enter into a market is to test it early on and then

grow from there. We already have over 200 neighborhoods here in Germany and we

expect that to grow over the course of the next couple of years. -On which

cities is the focus going to be on? -Well, the great news is that Nextdoor is

going to be available across all of Germany we've been testing it across the

country and already are in every single one of the major cities. So as of

Tuesday, we'll be available to everyone in Germany. -And your main office

will be located where? -We're basing our headquarters in Germany, here in Berlin.

We believe this is the tech hub and we have a great team already on the ground

four full-time people and ten other people across the entire country. -Are

there plans to add additional roles or take on more employees? Absolutely, as we

continue to grow and expand, we'll be looking to expand the office here. -How

will next door position itself with other competitors in the area, for

example, nebenan.de or lokalportal, that are already trying to

provide a service similar to what Nextdoor provides? -We've been building

neighborhood communities for over five years across the world. We

understand that the way that you do that is you work closely with neighbors to

get them started and then really help them develop their own grassroots

community. We're very focused on our product and on our community building. We

think that that's a recipe for success. It certainly has been in the other

markets that we've already entered into. -That's right you just

recently launched in the UK and you also had an

acquisition there. Another neighborhood startup, Streetlight... if I remember

correctly. - I think you're referring to Streetlife and we actually

did not acquire the company, they chose to shut down and we did a partnership

with them, such that their members could move over to Nextdoor and continue

to be part of a neighborhood conversation. -Is there potential for

something similar, would Nextdoor be open to something like that in Germany?

you know we're focused on building communities here and doing that

grassroots and we think that that is best done with our product, but we have

to come into the market and and understand what's happening here and

then go from there. -We had the chance to talk a little bit

about advertising and revenue generation and there's the local

advertising and the national as well, is there any hope to possibly have that up

and running by the time German elections come in September? That maybe you could

see a little bit of information about candidates or what's going on in that

respect? When we think about building out Nextdoor, you first have to start

with the product and the community and just as a point of reference, in the US

it took us several years before we even started to test monetization, so

we'll follow that here in Germany. First focus on the product and on the

community and then when the time is right that we will focus on monetization

but we think that there's a great opportunity on our platform to help

local businesses, and businesses in general, connect with local residents. -The

website server, is that located also in Germany, or in Ireland? -We're

headquartered in Ireland and follow all of the EU important guidelines about

information and data. -In Germany with so many expats coming and going and

neighborhoods fluctuating in a way that's a little bit different than those

traditional American neighborhoods... of course you're in bigger cities like New

York... but you're constantly subleasing to different people. How is next door going

to tailor to that I want to say that dynamic... -So in a city like San

Francisco, 75% of people rent in San Francisco and that's one of the cities in which we

started and so what we find is there is a mix of people who own their homes as

well as people who rent. They all come together on Nextdoor to talk about

the issues that matter most to them. And that's everything from I need a

recommendation, I want help finding someone to paint my house, paint my room.

Really it runs the gamut of what people are looking for and that's something

that is applicable to everyone, whether they own their home or rent. -Great, thank

you so much for taking the time. -Thank you.

CNN 10 - June 19, 2017 | Explains the U.S. Senate's so-called "nuclear option" - Duration: 10:01.

Fridays are awesome!

Welcome to CNN STUDENT NEWS.

My name is Carl Azuz reporting from the CNN Center.

In Congress, the so called nuclear option doesn`t refer to weapons.

It refers to a procedural rule in the U.S. Senate.

It takes a simple majority, 51 votes, for the Senate to confirm a presidential nominee.

But it takes 60 votes to hold the confirmation vote, or it used to.

Yesterday, the Senate passed the nuclear option.

Now, the vote to vote only takes 51.

The idea or requiring 60 votes was to ensure debate in the U.S. Senate.

To make sure that the minority party in the Senate, right now Republicans, didn`t get

muscled out by the majority party, right now the Democrats.

Some senators argue that the 60 votes requirement was stopping anything from getting done.

The new 51 vote rule only applies to executive and judicial nominees, not to Supreme Court

nominees.

And remember, the majority party won`t be in the majority forever.

When that power shift happens, senators from that party will get to experience the other

side of this nuclear option rule.

Next up, a potential deal between the U.S. and Afghanistan.

American forces were first sent to that country after the 911 terrorist attacks in 2001.

Since he was elected, President Obama has promised to end the U.S. combat mission in

Afghanistan by the end of 2014.

The White House says that timeframe is still on track, but this new deal could mean that

some American forces would stay in Afghanistan after 2014.

Secretary of State John Kerry announced the deal that could leave thousands of U.S. troops

in Afghanistan for years to come.

There is no combat rule for United States Forces, and the bilateral security agreement

is an effort to try to clarify for Afghans and for United States military forces exactly

what the rules are with respect to that ongoing relationship.

The draft agreement is now before an Afghan council of tribal leaders called the Loya

Jirga.

Until they approve it, it`s far from a done deal.

To get their (inaudible) and President Karzai wants a letter of assurances from the White

House including a pledge U.S. troops won`t enter Afghan homes unless American soldiers`

lives are at stake.

Past raids have killed innocent Afghans and fueled anger among the population.

And Karzai says the U.S. should acknowledge these past mistakes.

But is that tantamount to an apology for U.S. actions in the 12- year war?

I honestly don`t know where the idea of an apology started, but let me be clear: President

Karzai didn`t ask for an apology, there was no discussion of an apology.

It oil boils down to semantics: U.S. officials in the past have offered some form of apology

for civilian deaths, including former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton Former Defense Secretary

Robert Gates and General John Allen who led U.S. Forces in Afghanistan.

Even the draft agreement expresses regret for Afghan suffering and the loss of innocent

lives, language one of President Obama`s top advisors repeated Wednesday.

We have, of course, throughout the war always indicated regret when there are instances

of civilian casualties.

But I think the Afghan people understand the great sacrifices that Americans have made

on behalf of their security.

Just the facts: John F. Kennedy was born in Massachusetts in 1917.

After serving in the U.S. House and Senate, he was elected president in 1960, although

there is some controversy surrounding his very narrow win.

Kennedy was the youngest man elected president and the first Catholic to be president.

His presidency involved the failed Bay of Pigs invasion in Cuba and the Cuban missile

crisis, a nuclear faceoff between the U.S. and former Soviet Union.

President Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas in 1963.

It was November, 22, exactly 50 years ago today.

President Kennedy was in Texas riding in an open convertible limousine.

At 12:30 he was hit by two bullets.

He was declared dead 30 minutes later, the fourth U.S. president to be killed in office.

News has sometimes referred to it as the first rough draft of history.

And President Kennedy`s assassination was, of course, a major news event.

The first radio bulletin came six minutes after the shooting.

The first television broadcast, four minutes later.

For several days, major TV and radio networks had continuous news coverage, like they did

after the 911 terrorist attacks.

For many Americans, the events surrounding President Kennedy`s death still resonate 50

years later.

For my generation, it was where were you when President Kennedy got killed?

November 22nd, 1963.

I was in the second grade, I was seven years old.

And I was in the catholic school in New York.

I was a sixth grader at a school in North Carolina.

In 1963, I was in second grade elementary school, seven years old, at Lafayette, Louisiana.

What I remember about that day was we were all sitting at our desks and all of a sudden

the intercom came on.

The principal was saying, the president has been shot.

President Kennedy has been shot.

And his voice was so frantic, that I don`t remember the intercom ever be coming on until

that day.

And I remember, of course, knowing who the president was, even though I was very, very

young at the time.

I knew who the president was.

I knew about his family.

He was kind of a hero to us because he was catholic.

I was in catholic school.

And he had a daughter who was close to my age.

So, that was pretty cool too.

Purely timing coincidence, but we were lowering the American Flag that afternoon on Friday,

November 22, 1963 when another guy in the school came running up and he said did you

guys hear?

The president`s been shot!

When I came in, the secretary - the school secretary was sitting at her desk and she

was crying.

Tears were screaming down her cheek.

So I ran back to my classroom, I burst in the door and said, President Kennedy has been

shot.

And about that time, the principal came on with the announcement.

And he told everybody let`s go to the buses, let`s go home, go straight home when you get

off the bus.

I got on the bust that afternoon and the older kids were really quiet, just very, very quiet

and one of them said to me, do you understand what`s happening?

And I said I knew the president had died, and I felt bad because it was Caroline`s daddy.

I mean that`s kind of my frame of reference at the time.

I remember going home, my parents were both there, it was very quiet, we were watching

TV and I remember my dad cried, and that was the first time I ever saw him cry.

And I went home and it was like a hush fell over our little part of the world.

Everything went quiet.

The radio and TV was all news.

For the first time in history, the networks went all night, the TV networks, and there

were only three.

It was quiet for months.

And really, I think the thing that got us out of that was a few months later, there

was this musical group from England, a band called "The Beatles."

And they came over and all of a sudden, people had something else to talk about.

I remember watching the funeral and I remember we were out of school that day and the mood

in my house was very quiet, very somber and, you know, just a very sad day for the entire

country.

I also remember the salute that young John did to his father`s coffin, and my mom had

just had a baby, and his name was John.

He was born in September of 1963.

And after that we started calling him John John.

That was the president son`s nickname.

Just the week before, a "Weekly Reader" had come out.

And had President Kennedy on the cover.

Somehow it had gotten balled up and thrown away at home.

And I was so upset that my mother actually fished it out of the trash can and ironed

it for me so I could still have it.

Nothing was the same after that because it was like something (inaudible) changed and

we just couldn`t figure out why.

The southeast, Midwest, northeast.

We`re going to hit them all in today`s "Roll Call."

In Marietta, Georgia, there is some buzz for the yellow jackets from Sprayberry High School.

Hello, everyone.

From there, we head north to Minnesota to check in with the Bull Dogs from Lester Prairie

High School and our last stop is Beverly High School in Massachusetts, the Panthers close

out the "Roll Call" for this week.

Add this to the list of things that are harder to do in space: washing your hair.

This astronaut says she gets asked a lot how she does it, so she posted this video on YouTube

to explain.

She squirts water directly on her scalp, hopes the drops don`t float away, then busts out

some no rinse shampoo.

Now that might sound simple, but if you look at it, you`ve got to admit: it looks like

a hair raising experience.

You know how it goes with these puns: hair today, gone tomorrow.

But about next week: we will be hear on Monday and Tuesday, so we`ll see some of you then,

the rest of you have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday and a great weekend ahead.

Spectator Dies at Friday's U.S. Open at Erin Hills | TENTEN TV - Duration: 2:01.

Spectator Dies at Friday's U.S. Open at Erin Hills

Open was hit with tragedy on Friday when an elderly man passed away from natural causes at Erin Hills, according to Megan Pospychala of Fox6Now.com. He was 94 years old and the medical examiner was called around 2 p.m., per Pospychala.

The United States Golf Association (USGA) released the following statement:.

"The USGA was saddened to learn that a spectator at Erin Hills passed away a short time ago. Out of respect for the family, we are unable to provide additional information at this time.

Our thoughts and prayers are with those surrounding this individual during this difficult time.". The Washington County Sheriff's Office reported that the spectator died near the sixth hole at Erin Hills.

The saddening news comes a day after there was another near tragedy on Thursday when a blimp went down in flames at the course.

Fortunately, one person, who was presumably the pilot was able to get out of the blimp, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. The person did suffer burn injuries from the accident.

There was also E. coli bacteria traces found int he drinking water at Erin Hills during the U.S. It was believed that water in one hydration station on the course was impacted.
