Lonzo Ball has worn Nike, Adidas and Under Armour in his last three summer league games.

At first, I was perplexed as to why the Ball family would choose to give their biggest

competitors free advertising, while trying to grow their own brand that is yet to distribute

a single shoe.

But after seeing the amount of free press Lonzo keeps getting for wearing a non-Big

Baller Brand shoe, I think I've begun to realize what they're trying to do.

Historically, it's always been this way: a well-hyped player enters the league, signs

a shoe deal with one of the big-name brands, and extends his contract and dollar figures

as the player plays better and becomes more relevant in the public eye.

But because of his outspoke father, Lonzo has entered the league with a big target on his back,

and his celebrity gives him the ability to grab attention like a budding Kardashian.

And we've learned this week, the Ball family is still open to a shoe deal "if the price

is right."

Now, LaVar Ball is crazy, but he's not an idiot.

He understands "the players are the brand ambassadors, and the brand is nothing without

the players."

My guess is, Nike looked at sales after Lonzo wore the Kobe AD's, and Adidas and Under

Armour did the same after he wore their shoes, and they all went, holy sh*t this guy is getting

people to buy our shoe.

But instead of one of those companies signing Lonzo to a billion-dollar contract to control

him, which is literally what LaVar is asking for, instead those companies can sign Lonzo

to multiple independent contracts.

So Lonzo could still promote his start-up shoe, but agree with Nike to wear their shoes for

10 games, and wear Adidas for another 10, or when Stephen Curry releases a new shoe,

Lonzo could get paid to promote it by wearing the new Curry shoe for one game.

Now, this has never been done before.

And I know you're probably thinking, why would a big shoe company do that, give up

their ability to control what pro athletes wear.

It's because no rookie in any sport has been able to garner attention the way Lonzo

Ball has.

And in a world where we're all glued to this thing during our waking hours, the ability

to day-trade attention is what ultimately gets people to buy things.

Lonzo is the first athlete to not buy into the "you own us for life" game that the

shoe companies designed out of self-preservation.

That's why signing a star athlete to promote only one brand is not a sustainable business

model.

Because now Nike can approach Lonzo and say, "Hey, wear these shoes on opening night

of the NBA season and we'll pay you two-million dollars."

And because of social media, Nike will sell triple that amount before pregame warm-ups

are even over.

Why wouldn't Nike, Adidas or Under Armour do that?

If Adidas could pay LeBron to wear their shoe for just one game, they would give him millions

because of the free press it would generate.

Lonzo Ball now gives companies that opportunity, and once of them bites, all of them will bite.

And it's funny, because him wearing different shoe brands has come across as this fun summer

news headline, when there isn't much else going on in sports.

But I don't think people realize how big of a deal this actually is.

I wouldn't be surprised if in five to ten years, the whole sportswear industry looks

completely different, and we'll look back at Lonzo and LaVar Ball as the reason the

world's most popular athletes all became independent contractors.

Liverpool centre-back Dejan Lovren believes the arrival of winger Mohamed Salah will help them break down the stubborn defences which caused them so many problems last season.

Jurgen Klopp's side displayed scintillating form in the first half the campaign but the loss of speedy forward Sadio Mane to the African Nations Cup coincided with a slump in form.

Their problems were compounded when the Senegal international's season was prematurely ended by a knee problem in early April, and with Daniel Sturridge also missing two months from February with injury the Reds were left looking rather one-paced and easy to defend against.

Lovren believes the addition of Salah, who scored on his first appearance for the club in Friday's 1-1 friendly draw at Wigan, will help address that issue. "Mane had his injury and we missed him," said the Croatia international.

"We saw (Salah on Friday) and we will see more of his qualities. He needs more time as he's only had six days with us and everything is completely new (but) I think he will be perfect in this system.".

The only other arrival so far is England Under-20 World Cup winner Dominic Solanke, who joined after his contract expired with Chelsea, but he has already shown glimpses of promise in two separate 45-minute outings so far.

"I think they (Salah and Solanke) have their qualities and Jurgen knows what he needs and what the team needs to improve," added Lovren.

"I think he made a good choice. These guys work really hard on the pitch and in training so it is always good to welcome such players like these.

"Quality players are always welcome but we have other players like Mane, Phil (Coutinho) so I think it will be a difficult job to get in the first XI with so many good players.

Liverpool are hopeful of tying up an £8million deal for Hull left-back Andrew Robertson, although not in time for him to fly out to Hong Kong with the squad for the Premier League Asia Trophy, while they are also pursuing RB Leipzig's Naby Keita as their primary midfield target.

Speculation continues to link the Reds with Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk, despite the club having to publicly end their interest in the Holland international after Saints accused them of tapping up the player.

If that was to be resurrected it would bring additional competition for Lovren, who only signed a new five-year contract last season, but he is not worried.

"I can't talk about that. I am just concentrating on Liverpool and my fitness. I think the biggest thing is to improve my fitness," he said.

"It is pre-season but the most important thing is to be free of injuries. I want to be 100 per cent. "I just need some consistency.

(Last season) something happened like an injury or illness and then it was two steps back and I needed a good run to be back in shape so I am preparing myself as best I can.

"I have said many times I am very proud they (Liverpool) believe in my and they have given me a chance to work here. It is a pleasure to be here with this squad.

"We have such a talented squad, such stars who people want to buy but we are here with a reason – because of the club – and no-one wants to go.

Groundbreaking Study Shows Cannabis Can Help Stop HIV From Becoming AIDS

With so many studies coming out on the numerous ways medical cannabis can treat health ailments,

some of us may have become slightly numb to the wonders being revealed about this beneficial

plant.

But a new study published in the Journal of Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndromes (JAIDS)

might change that.

Researchers have found that THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), the main psychoactive ingredient in cannabis,

can help prevent HIV from becoming AIDS.

According to the abstract, published online by the National Institutes of Health:

�Plasmacytoid dendritic cells (pDCs) play a crucial role in host antiviral immune response

through secretion of type I interferon.

Interferon alpha (IFNa), a type I IFN, is critical for mounting the initial response

to viral pathogens.

A consequence of Human Immunodeficiency Virus-1 (HIV) infection is a decrease in both pDC

number and function, but prolonged pDC activity has been linked with progression from HIV

infection to the development of AIDS.

Patients with HIV in the United States routinely use cannabinoid-based therapies to combat

the side effects of HIV infection and antiretroviral therapy.

However, cannabinoids, including ?-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), are well-characterized immunosuppressants.

Here, we report that THC suppressed secretion of IFNa by pDC from both healthy and HIV+

donors through a mechanism involving impaired phosphorylation of interferon regulatory factor

7.

These results suggest that THC can suppress pDC function during the early host antiviral

response by dampening pDC activation.�

Much of that is Greek to those of us not in the medical field, but the results suggest

something stunning.

HIV patients taking cannabis have likely helped prevent their condition from turning into

full-blown AIDS.

This will open the door for medical cannabis to be used for the dual purpose of treating

side effects and preventing disease progression.

According to HIV.gov, �More than 1.1 million people in the U.S. are living with HIV today,

and 1 in 7 of them don�t know it.� Although many thousands become newly infected every

year, the rate declined 18 percent from 2008 to 2014.

Since the 1980s, over 1.2 million people have been diagnosed with AIDS, with 18,303 diagnosed

with AIDS in 2015.

6,721 deaths were directly attributed to HIV in 2014.

Although HIV and AIDS cases are declining, they remain a significant problem.

Now we find that the cannabis plant may have yet another miraculous benefit in the form

of suppressing a deadly disease.

The AIDS epidemic began in the 1980s as Ronald Reagan ramped up the drug war.

Doubling down on the failure and injustice of prohibition, Reagan and this fellow drug

warriors stifled research into medical cannabis and denied the people the healing powers of

this ancient medicinal plant.

While much progress has been made since those dark days�and the overwhelming majority

of Americans now believe medical cannabis should be legal�a fervent prohibitionist

now sits as the nation�s top law enforcement official.

Attorney General Jess Sessions has vowed to ramp up the drug war once again, relying on

myths and falsehoods to justify his warped view of reality.

Sessions is now trying to reinvigorate the DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) program

put in place by Nancy Reagan in the 80s.

Thankfully, most states in the U.S. now recognize the power of medical cannabis and aren�t

paying much attention to the ramblings of Reefer Madness politicians like Jeff Sessions.

Medical research into cannabis is continuing to grow exponentially, adding to the body

of factual knowledge and leaving prohibitionists nowhere to hide.

Liverpool hope Emre Can will snub Juventus transfer for new contract

Liverpool are reportedly hopeful that they can keep hold of midfielder Emre Can this summer despite transfer interest from Juventus and their own pursuit of Naby Keita.

The Germany international has been a key player for the Reds since joining from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer of 2014, showing his potential in a number of positions in defence and midfield.

The 23-year-old is now heading into the final year of his contract at Anfield and is attracting admiring glances from Italian giants Juventus, though Liverpool believe they can keep him. Can, 23, has impressed in his time at Liverpool.

According to the Daily Mail, Can is edging closer to agreeing a new deal with the club as they seemingly make him a key part of their future plans despite Jurgen Klopp's desire to strengthen in his position.

Keita has been strongly linked with Liverpool in a potential club-record deal of around £65million or more, and has shown tremendous potential during his time at RB Leipzig.

The Guinea international would surely not move to Liverpool for that amount only to sit on the bench, so it remains to be seen if Can would start as many games as before.

Can won the Confederations Cup with Germany this summer. Still, Klopp clearly rates the versatile youngster highly and wants him to commit his future to the Merseysiders this summer.

Can is currently on holiday but is thought to be prepared to sign a new contract when he returns for pre-season.

Do you know that 1 out of 9 workers in the United States sells by trying to get others

to purchase products or services?

Well, you can say, You are not in sales!

But in actuality, everybody is in sales.

Selling is persuading others to do something for you.

Whether you want someone to like your idea at work, implement a new procedure, or hire

a new employee, you are selling.

This means that the other 8 out of 9 workers in the US are also in sales.

So selling is a fundamental skill that you need to learn to be successful both in business

and in life.

I am going to give you 7 tips that you need to know before you can sell anything and If

you can use them correctly, you can simply never fail at selling.

So keep watching.

Find the right fish in the pond

To sell effectively you need to identify potential customers, their possible needs, requirements,

and aspirations.

By finding the specific type of person, who is just right for your product or service,

you will avoid wasting time on poor fit leads.

Instead, you'll have more time to devote to buyers with a good chance of becoming customers.

Here is how you are going to find your right customer.

Before you can identify potential buyers, you need to define which buyers you can help

and which you can't.

Once you figured that out, you need to be familiar with the characteristics of your

target buyers and thoroughly qualify each and every prospect using a matrix.

This is called an Ideal buyer profile, this is like having a secret weapon.

This way, you will have far more success.

One of the most important thing in effective selling is to be able to distinguish between

a potential customer whose interest is genuine but whose requirement is not immediate and

one who has an immediate interest in a potential purchase and can, therefore, be actively engaged

in the process of selling.

In this regard, sales people need to be trained in the art of effective selling in order to

know how to make this differentiation before engaging in presenting the product or closing

the sale.

Always be helping

This is something I learned recently.

If you're defining your target buyer correctly, you'll spend the majority of your day talking

to business leaders who have problems your product or service can solve.

But just because you know this doesn't mean they do.

Don't jump in with your pitch right off the bat.

You run the risk of frustrating your customers.

Instead, offer your help in the way you think would be most valuable.

So contribute first and sell second.

The best way to do this is to position yourself as an advisor who wants to help rather than

salespeople thirsty to sell, and you'll find a more receptive audience when you finally

get around to connecting their problem with your offering.

To start with, you can send along a piece of content that speaks to their issue.

You can speak about the trend that the buyer might not be aware of.

If you are still not sure where you can be of service?

Simply ask.

So remember, selling should be about providing a service rather than ramming something down

the customer´s throat.

But this doesn't mean that you can sit back and wait for customers to buy.

The action is often required, but that action must be respectful of the customer's natural

buying process.

So the next time you try to sell something, remember the slogan: "Always Be Helping".

Do your homework

If you expect buyers to give you their time and learn about your product, you need to

spend time learning about them first.

In the age of social media, there's no excuse to call or email a buyer with no knowledge

of what they do and what they care about.

Your research doesn't have to take a long time.

It should take as little as five or 10 minutes per prospect.

The best place to know about your prospects, well you guessed it, is the internet.

You can use LinkedIn, twitter, facebook or simply google.

So, what do you need to know about them?

You need to know at least these 5 things, those are their name, age, occupation, where

they live, and their interests.

If you find it difficult to know their interests, you can even ask them.

This will also make the impression that you genuinely care about them and not in just

making a sale.

So, Before you attempt to engage in conversation, know who are talking to, this will give you

the confidence and the edge to make your sale.

Ask questions, and listen.

No matter how thoroughly you've researched your prospect, there will still be gaps in

your knowledge, and you won't be able to help the buyer solve their issue if you don't fully

understand it.

For this reason, it's critical to ask thoughtful questions during your conversations -- and

a lot of them.

You can question like,

How did this happen?

Has it always been this way?

How is the issue impacting you?

What are you currently doing to address the problem?

So,Be curious.

It's good to have a list of questions prepared as a jumping off point, but you don't have

to stick to them if the conversation takes an unexpected turn.

People like talking about themselves and their situations so your genuine interest and curiosity

will help them warm up to you.

Now, don't think your part is done.

No, not yet.

After posting a question, fall silent and simply listen.

Really hear what the buyer is saying, and don't just wait for your turn to speak.

Then after they've finished their thought, communicate their message back to them, ask

them to verify if you got their meaning correctly, and pose a question that provides further

clarification.

Not only does careful listening help you get a grip on the problem, it also makes the other

person feel good.

And if you truly tune in, they'll be more likely to return the favor when you have something

to say. (Buyer says "Yes!")

Make it about them

Just like you don't like listening to a self-absorbed acquaintance blabber, buyers don't like listening

to salespeople talk at length about their companies or offerings.

What you perceive as informative and interesting, prospects perceive as obnoxious and irrelevant.

The main rule of sales is to always make it about your buyer.

Every email you write, voicemail you leave, demo you give, and meeting you attend should

place the focus squarely on the buyer.

Constantly ask yourself, "What's the relevance to this particular customer?" and customize

each and every interaction accordingly.

Use the Decoy Effect

One of the common psychological effect used in marketing is the decoy effect.

Here's how it works.

When you have two options, users are forced to make a decision.

They can choose the small option for less money or the big option for more money.

It's a tough decision.

They want more awesome but don't want to spend more money.

So what do they do?

They generally spend less money.

Ah, but now enter the decoy effect.

Decoy effect pricing involves adding a third option.

The decoy is priced close to the more expensive option, suggesting that the more expensive

option is actually better.

It's kind of like a middle option, but it's so skewed that it makes it seem stupid not

to go for the higher-priced option.

Let us see an example,

Let us say you have 2 bottles of wine.

One small and one large.

The smaller one is priced at 10 dollars and the larger one at 25 dollars.

At this point, most of the buyers will go for the smaller one because the larger one

seems expensive.

Now, a medium bottle of wine is introduced and it is priced at 20 dollars.

Which one do you think is more valuable for the money?

Now, among the three options.

most people will take "The Larger One" because it seems "More Valuable".

So, Introducing "The Medium Bottle" made "The Larger One" seem "Less Expensive".

So people tend to think that they get more value spending less money.

This is the decoy effect.

Now, There are many psychological tricks like this in marketing and I will make a separate

video of it later.

Once you know which category your prospect fits into, play to their preferences and customize

your presentation to nail what's most important to them.
