Today we are going to explore Google Slides.
We are going to first start with a blank presentation.
Off to the right hand side it will first ask you to pick a theme.
For today we are going to click the Swiss Theme.
And this theme will apply the same font and colors to all slides.
I'm going to title it Lions.
I'm going to add my name.
I'm also going to look for an image.
I'm going to choose this mountain icon up here.
And I'm going to search on the web for a picture of lions.
I'm going to type that into the search bar.
I'm going to pick my picture.
Click on it,
and select.
There it might be too large
and I need to re-size it by going to one of the corner squares and bringing it in.
That's the size I want, then I can put it in the location I'd like.
And that's how I want it.
Then I'm going to go to the left part of the screen and I'm going to click the plus sign, to add a new slide.
Over here I can choose a layout.
And the layout is how that slide will look.
Click the layout button and it will show me all the variety of options.
And for this example, I think I do want, umm a title and a body.
So I'm going to say "What do lions eat?"
I'm going to say "Lions eat meat." Okay!
Then, let's say I want another slide.
I'm going to go back up to that plus sign.
And I'm going to title, I want a different layout for this one.
And maybe I want a two column layout, so maybe I want a title and then two pieces of information.
And I'm going to say "Where do lions live?"
And I could say, maybe, "Lions live in the jungle of Africa."
Also over here I could say "Lions live in the zoo."
because that's where most of us have seen lions.
So I can have two different pieces of information.
Maybe I want to add a picture here.
I'm going to go back up to that image icon.
And I want to choose, I want an image of Africa.
Because I talked about Africa on that slide.
Oh! That's perfect, I think I want this one, ummm maybe this one because it's more colorful.
Oh it looks great! So I'm going to put that right under where I say "Lions live in the jungle of Africa."
And maybe I also want an image of a zoo.
I'm going to go back up to that image icon and search zoo.
And, I'm going to use this image.
Ooop, it's much bigger, so I'm going to make sure I size that down.
And I'm going to put that right under where I said "Lions live in the zoo."
Perfect!
So now I've talked about theme,
and I've talked about about layout
and I've talked about inserting an image from the web.
And we're going to add a transition really quick then we will be done.
Transitions, are how it goes from one slide to the next and moves forward.
So I'm going to say I want "slide from right"
I want to apply this to all slides, so they are all uniform.
I don't want a different transition or animation throughout the presentation.
If I click "PLAY" I might want to test it out.
Ooop, there it comes!
So I'm going to click "STOP"
And I'm going to present, but before I present, I want to make sure I'm on this first slide.
Otherwise it might throw off my presentation.
I'm going to move this down a little bit.
I'm going to push the play button.
I'm going to click "EXIT"
So we talked about theme, layout, images and transitions. Thanks for listening!
