TANK GRAVEYARD: Inside an Abandoned Tank! - Urbex Military Vehicles Lost Places Germany - Duration: 7:23.

Meanwhile it's the tenth and final day

of our big urbex road trip that we made in February.

After several explorations in Luxembourg, France and Belgium

we're finally back in Germany where we spent the night on a tank graveyard.

This former military training area is now a habitat for endangered flora and fauna.

Until some years ago soldiers learned here how to capture these steel monstrosities.

Today nature is retaking control of the abandoned tanks.

Far to the west of Germany there's this huge site of around 220 hectares.

Most of this area has been used as a military training ground of the German armed forces.

But today it's a nature reserve.

It was opened for the public and you can meet a lot of people out on a walk with their dogs here now.

"Practice track"

"It's only allowed to use this track for training purposes"

Tracks and indentations in the ground

are silent witnesses of the military drills that used to take place in the whole forest.

By now a lot of different animals have resettled here.

"Do not enter when the red flag is hoisted"

The whole area was part of Adolf Hitler's Siegfried Line

which was built between 1936 and 1940.

It was a huge defensive system

featuring more than 18.000 tunnels, bunkers and tank traps.

After the war most of these constructions were demolished

but you can still find some remnants from that period

overgrown and covered in moss.

However, these tanks don't have any exciting history.

They weren't used in the war at all.

These colossuses were targets for the German Bundeswehr used in exercises.

We found five tanks in total distributed all over the area.

We're no tank experts

but it seems like three of them were so-called Kampfpanzer of the type M 47 Patton.

One right at the trail

one in the woods

and one is completely overgrown.

Another one is a M 41 Walker Bulldog that seems to sink in the pond.

Last but not least there's a Schützenpanzer Lang HS.30 right next to a wall.

To be honest: These war machines form a disturbing contrast to the surrounding peaceful nature.

Tanks like these always brought devastation.

But these tanks in particular don't appear very terrifying any more.

They're home for plants and animals now.

and it's amazing to see what can grow from something so bad.

Making a Nintendo Switch Case | DIY Tutorial - Duration: 6:52.

We needed a carrying case for the Nintendo Switch,

so I decided to see if I could make one myself.

I started by making the top and the bottom of the case.

I cut two plastic pieces to act as a protective layer inside the case, and I cut them slightly

bigger than the outer size of the Switch.

This will also be the shape and size of the case.

I then cut the fabric layers for the top and bottom, and first up are two layers of quilt

batting that are the same size as the plastic pieces.

Then I made a pattern for the other pieces by adding 1,5 centimeters of seam allowance

all the way around the sides.

For the outside layer, I cut a red and a white piece of water resistant fabric.

For the inside, I cut two layers of soft fleece fabric.

The top and the bottom are each a sandwich of the outer water resistant layer, the protective

plastic, the quilt batting and the inner fleece layer.

Before assembling the top and bottom, I added straps and pockets to the inside layers.

For the bottom piece, I cut four pieces of elastic, which will be connected in the middle

by velcro.

I used a lighter to finish the edges of the elastic, and then I folded over a small edge

on each of the pieces and stitched it down.

I then stitched pieces of velcro to the elastic.

I checked where I wanted the straps to be placed and stitched them down to the sides

of the fleece.

For the top, I wanted a place to hold the controller straps, so I cut another piece

of elastic, folded over the edges and stitched them down, and I then attached the elastic

to the fleece.

I also want pockets to hold six game cartridges.

I figured out the configuration and I cut two pieces of elastic.

After folding the edges over and stitching them down, I pinned the pieces on the fleece

and sewed along the bottom and sides.

I then marked the size of the individual pockets and stitched lines to separate them.

Now I'm ready to assemble the top and the bottom.

To keep the plastic and the batting in place while I make the rest of the case, I'm using a

temporary spray adhesive that I have left over from when I made a quilt.

I sprayed the layers and sandwiched them all together.

First the fleece, then the batting, the plastic and finally the water resistant fabric.

I then sewed all the way around to keep everything in place.

To make the sides, I started by adding side pieces to the zipper.

I cut two 5 centimeter wide pieces of black water resistant fabric that are just as long

as the zipper.

I then placed the zipper right sides together on one of the strips and sewed all the way

along the edge.

I flipped the fabric over and top-stitched it down on the zipper to make it lie nice

and flat.

I used pinking shears to finish the edges of the fabric to prevent it from fraying.

I then repeated these steps on the other side of the zipper.

I cut a piece of black fleece and a piece of black water resistant fabric of the same size.

These pieces will form the back of the case, with the zipper forming the rest of the sides.

As an extra buffer I'm adding a layer of fleece to the inside of the sides.

I cut two strips of fleece that are 5 centimeters wide and can reach all the way around the case.

I folded them in half and stitched them down close to the edge.

I then placed them on the inside of the zipper, so that they completely cover the teeth, and

stitched them in place.

For the back, I put the outside piece of fabric right sides together with the zipper and stitched

it down.

Remember to go slow when you sew across a zipper to make sure you don't damage your

needle or your machine.

I then placed the fleece right sides together with the inside of the zipper and stitched

it down in the same place.

I cut off the excess fabric and zipper.

I measured the outside of the case pattern to make the sides to size.

I marked the correct length and cut the zipper to the right size.

I then folded the ends of the back inside and placed the zipper end in between, making

a full circle.

I stitched it down close to the edge.

Now I'm ready to assemble the case.

I used clips to attach the side to the top, right sides together.

Along the way, it started pulling itself into its 3D shape.

I sewed all the way around, following the 3D shape as best as I could.

Now it's really starting to look like something!

I folded the nylon binding around the inside seam to cover it up and to give the case some strength.

I sewed it in place all the way around.

This step was pretty tricky, since the case was really holding on to that 3D shape now.

So I went slow and I made sure I sewed threw the binding on both sides.

A test fit showed it was all looking good, so I moved on to attaching the bottom in the

same way.

First, I clipped the pieces together and sewed them in place.

And then I added the binding.

The clips are really working great here, since there's no way I could've been able to stick pins

through all these thick layers of fabric.

Now I can flip the case the right side out.

And it's done!

And that's how I made my Nintendo Switch case.

Or actually, my husband's Nintendo Switch case.

But he's very happy with it.

Using a Pentium 3 Laptop in 2017 - Duration: 6:02.

The Intel Pentium 3 CPU lineup released in 1999

was Intel's flagship until the release of the Intel Pentium 4

a year and a half later

But can it stand up to today's standards?

Let's find out!

♫ ~NK~ "Fear Me" ♫

This is my grandpa's old laptop

It's a Compaq Armada E500

with an Intel Pentium 3 CPU

clocked at 450Mhz

320MB RAM

and a 10GB harddrive

That might not sound like a lot, but

it was actually pretty good back when the laptop was new

According to my research

this laptop cost 3000 dollars

back in 1999

Now obviously we didn't get it new

we actually got it used

from a company

It has Windows XP installed on it

but we're going to try Linux because

because the Windows XP installation was heavily modded by me a few years ago

The first distribution I tried was Damn Small Linux

It booted up fairly quickly from the CD I burned

and all of the included applications seemed to work pretty nicely

however I couldn't figure out how to connect it to the internet

the wi-fi card that I have in the laptop

wasn't getting recognized

USB tethering through my phone didn't work either

and this laptop doesn't have an ethernet port

Then I tried Puppy Linux

a newer distribution

also targetted at older PCs

I couldn't even get the desktop to show up there though

The last distribution I tried was Lubuntu 12.04

the same distribution I used for the server in my previous video

That one actually booted up without any issues

it was unusable from the Live CD though

It took 5 minutes to boot up

and even after that it took me about a minute just to do a simple Google search

so I decided to stick with the Windows XP installation that was there

I disabled all of the utilities that were being run at startup

and it actually wasn't slow at all

So the first practical use test I tried was

creating a text document in Word 2003

Now obviously that worked pretty well because

that was what the machine was made for

It took about 7 seconds to start the application

with the splash screen being shown for less than a second

and I could use it just fine

But you know that's just like running Word 2016 on a 3 years old i7

Moving onto some modern stuff

I tried internet browsing with this version of Google Chrome that was there

It actually wasn't a really bad experience either

As you can see

for example this local news site

didn't have any problems loading at all

I also tried doing an internet speed test

The speedtest.net beta didn't work at all because

of the version of Google Chrome I had there

And the Flash version just wasn't made for this CPU

so I used a local speed test website

I ended up with about 6 Mb for download

and 6 Mb for upload

It probably could be even faster

if I had a better Wi-Fi card

I also tried sending an email through the Gmail website

The HTML 5 version of the website refused to load

because of the version of Google Chrome I had

so I used the classic one

That one actually worked pretty well

It didn't feel any different than it would

for example on my current i5 laptop

I was able to send an email just fine

The last thing I wanted to try was YouTube

Google Chrome allowed me to play the video

in 360p or 720p only

because of DASH playback not being supported yet

360p was very laggy though, so

I didn't even bother to try 720p

I also tried downloading the video but

there wasn't a media player that could play it

But you might want to compare this PC to some other one

so I decided to do some synthetic benchmarks as well

I first wanted to try 3D Mark 2001 and Passmark PerformanceTest 8

but neither of these worked properly

3D Mark complained about the lack of VRAM

even when I lowered the settings to the minimum

and while Passmark finished most of the benchmarks

there was one that couldn't run

so I couldn't get a CPU score

Of course I didn't even try the GPU benchmarks

because the GPU doesn't support DirectX 9 obviously

so I ended up using 3D Mark 2000 and PC Mark 2002

The 3D Mark result was 531

for comparison my current i5 laptop got 4300

and it could probably get an even higher score

because it looks like the benchmarks were run on the integrated graphics

not on the dedicated one

and the PC Mark score for the laptop was

1200 for the CPU

1100 for the RAM

and 200 for the hard drive

So as you can see

this Pentium 3 laptop can still be used

for some very light modern usage

even though I wouldn't recommend it

If you have this and can get something else

then I would recommend you to get something else

but if you have no other choice

it just works

Crystals Ruined My Life For A Week / Gaby Dunn [CC] - Duration: 8:53.

I bought something today

that I'm very excited about

because I'm a child

It's a crystal growing kit

I had a bunch of weird science stuff as a kid

Like I had this thing where you could keep moths

As pets but you would grow them like you would order cocoons in the mail

And you would grow them

I actually am now just wondering if that was some sort of illegal butterfly trade

that I was participating in as a child

So this is the EDU science crystal kit

I don't know if it's the same one I had as a child

but it says ages 8 and up on here and I'm going to be very embarrassed if I can't do it

There's um, holders

So this is an LED light that I'll have to put batteries in

Probably have to take batteries out of my vibrator

That's what a child would say, right?

Space age crystals

So these packets become the crystals?

And then what's the middle step? There's no...like, ???? Crystals???

Protective goggles which it says on the package don't do anything

But I appreciate the commitment to science

Some rocks

A magnifying glass and some little cup thing.

And then instructions. Oh my god, there's other things you need?

Fuck. Okay. Oh my god.

This is so intense. Oh my god.

We have to go into the kitchen. We have to cook this.

I guess I'll use this. (clanging) Even though that seems wrong.

So I put water in the pan. Now you're supposed to take this crystal thing.

It looks like sugar and it smells very....bad.

A base rock goes in here.

A child is really supposed to do this? Like, there's sharp edges.

There's scissors involved.

I don't even know what an 8 year old is capable of.

Are 8 year olds capable of using scissors on their own?

So put two...

And drop them into B

Pour all the remaining ones into the saucepan. Okay. Wow.

Wow, okay thus far you have to wait until it's completely dissolved.

And then let it cool down and then we're gonna pour (clanging)

Wait, what the fuck?

Okay so this will take 24 hours to grow so I'm going to leave it overnight once we pour it.

I might have D batteries actually lemme look.

What if I just had a vibrator that needed to take these?

And I used yellow crystals and I used white crystals

Let's get candid. I don't know if I followed the directions 100 percent correct.

There's a little part of the instructions that says

If no crystals grew it's because you used too much water.

So I'm quite nervous that no crystals are going to grow.

But let's see.

In an hour, we will know.

Well maybe if I go to bed, maybe tomorrow they'll be fully grown.

And so I won't just stare at them waiting for them to grow.

You know what they say: a watched crystal never hatches.

So these crystals were supposed to take

24 hours to grow and they were supposed to

start growing overnight

but what I'm about to show you is very disappointing. Let's go to the tape.

NOTHING HAPPENED.

And I can't imagine if you were 8 years old you wouldn't also spill everywhere.

It made a very scary acid-seeping noise

when it hit the counter.

Almost like seltzer exploding.

Which I can't imagine is good

For the tabletop or getting my security deposit back.

What I'm going to do is try and boil the chemical again

So I'm going to use less water but like, I'm not doing anything wrong. I wish I could show you guys.

Again this seems very dangerous.

I also want to let everyone know that I'm not wearing the goggles because they go over my glasses

And glasses are already protective goggles and these are not prescription.

Although what if I just went into Lenscrafters and was like I need to make these goggles prescription?

As you can see we've installed the LED light

And the crystal that I tried to grow last night

This is the base crystal so this is not any growth

This is just what it's supposed to grow off of and the LED light has revealed

it has not grown.

Okay so I poured the orange liquid in now that it's cooled

So we'll see what happens.

That's peanut butter, but check this out. It left a lot of weird shiny crystal stuff in the pot.

What does it mean?

It's the next morning

And let's take a look

So some crystal dust is forming on the bottom

Not the way it looks on the package

So let's put it on the LED light and see if anything changes. Oops, almost spilled it.

I mean....

Ugh okay.

I refuse to believe this thing doesn't work.

Why would you sell it to children?

I guess because they're stupid and they'll buy stuff.

What the actual fuck?

What we have here looks like a broken popsicle

And it seems to have formed to the bottom of the cup it was in.

Day three of me trying to make these crystals that are supposedly easy enough for an 8 year old to make

I've lost all hope. I don't know if I'll be able to make/grow these crystals.

I'm starting to believe there were never any crystals to begin with.

I'm really at the end of my rope.

I'm really...I'm really fucking losing it, um.

I'm gonna give it one more try.

I've gone with the ruby version and I'm using much less water.

And we're gonna see if this makes any difference.

I feel like I'm making borscht.

for a long time and they've been giving me nothing and now I finally got a laugh out of them, you know?

Let's check on the crystals. I already looked and...

It's just a blob.

Nope. Entirely covers the light.

(groaning)

Yeah, it's dissolving.

It looks like this crystal is getting its period.

I failed myself. I failed my ancestors.

I failed the entire queer community.

I could not grow the crystals. I...

I tried. I gave it five days of my life.

I used a little water, I used a lot of water, I used medium water. Nothing.

Starting to believe that this toy I bought for 10 bucks at a Toys R Us in Glendale

was not legit.

Zero stars. Zero fucking stars.

What if I can't do it? No, I'll do it. It's for 8 year olds, right?

The teacher would have said that if watched long enough it would seem to change course

and swing in a direction that was different and was proof that Earth was rotating under

the feet.

SWINGING PENDULUM EXPERIMENT IS PROOF THAT THE EARTH ROTATES More often than not the

focus of those watching would not be on the swinging pendulum or the fact that the Earth

was rotating, but they would say that they could see it, even if they did not.

However, as we get older, our thoughts may turn back to that swinging pendulum and wonder

just how it could have been the proof of anything.

Common sense would say that if the demonstration was in the building and the building was on

Earth if the Earth rotated then the pendulum would rotate with it.

FOUCAULT EXPERIMENT IN 1851 WAS FIRST OF ITS KIND.

The experiment was first demonstrated in 1851 and is found in museums around the world today.

It was Leon Foucault from France who suspended a weight of 61 pounds and dangled it from

a wire of 200 feet in length at the Paris Pantheon and set it in motion.

The bob had to be very heavy and the wire long enough in length to make sure that the

pendulum was able to swing for a long time.

Underneath the experiment, he put a pin on the weights bottom and this drew a line a

circle of sand that was wet.

After running for an hour the pin had drawn a line in the sand that intersected with the

first line of the angle of about 11.25 degrees, which is just what Foucault had predicted,

would happen.

This very quickly became a sensation on an international scale and it was an experiment

that was to be repeated to the crowds in North America and Europe.

Everyone learned that the Earth did rotate but this had been the very first experiment

that was able to measure the speed of it rotating.

Due to the first experiment by Foucault, he received eternal fame and got a pendulum named

after him.

This would much later be the title of a book that bent minds which were written by Umberto

Eco and became a favorite in colleges.

HOW PLAYING CATCH AT NORTH POLE RELATES TO EARTH ROTATION But just how did it all work?

Well to explain it some experimentation is needed.

For instance, suppose a friend and you chose to play a game, and you played catch the ball

at the North Pole.

One person would stand on the side of the pole and throw the ball over the pole to another

person, with that person standing opposite to you.

Consider how it looks from the perspective of the ball.

When it is released, it follows a path that is set by traveling in a line that is straight

and going towards the person the ball was thrown to.

However, it takes time for the ball to travel to the other person and during this time the

Earth has managed to rotate just a little.

This means that the person who was catching the ball has now moved just slightly to the

right.

While the movement is only very slight this means it would not affect the game much.

However, if the game was played on a planet that had a rotation that was fast then the

person catching the ball would have moved more and the chances are that the ball might

miss that person and go past the left arm of the intending catcher.

When going through its swing, the pendulum is acting in much the same way as the ball.

When it gets to the top of the arc the path is set and it is heading in the opposite end

of the swing and will not deviate.

This means that it will continue to swing backward and forwards on the exact plane.

Now if the pendulum had been suspended over the North Pole and a pin had been stuck onto

the bottom and it was set swinging in motion, it would draw a line in the snow.

However, in the time that it would take for it to reach one top of the arc and to the

next, the Earth would have rotated.

With each of the swings of the pendulum, the Earth would have rotated even more and if

the pendulum was to swing for six hours, or one-quarter of the day, the line it drew in

the snow would intersect with the first line at 90 degrees.

This experiment was actually undertaken by physicists at the South Pole in 2001.

Anyone who has followed this up to now might say, but the pendulum of Foucault moved 11.25

degrees in one hour, which would mean that it would have changed 67.5 degrees in six

hours instead of 90 degrees.

If this is what you are now thinking, then you are correct, and it shows that the experiment

done above would only work in the South or the North Pole.

PENDULUM EXPERIMENT AT EQUATOR The same experiment could be undertaken at the equator.

The pendulum would swing east to west.

The Earth would rotate every time that the weight is in an arc.

However, it would be moving in the same direction as the pendulum is moving; there is a lack

of relative motion.

The pendulum could be set to swing north to south and still the rotation of the Earth

would not have any effect on the plane it is moving in.

This is simply because the Earth is unable to twist under the setup and it always moves

in the same direction.

When it comes to the points that are in-between the equator and the poles more complicated

geometry is needed to find out just how much the Earth is moving underneath the pendulum.

In the period of one day, the plane the pendulum is swinging in would seem to change between

zero degrees and 360 degrees, like the equator and poles.

An equation can be derived telling just how much the Earth had moved depending on the

latitude.

N = 360 degrees sin (0), with 0 being the latitude.

If the pendulum were drawing lines, the angle of intersection between the first of the lines

would be with one that was drawn some 24 hours later.

In theory, anyone who got trapped in a room and who did not have a way out and who did

not know where they were, and who had a piece of string and something to use as a weight,

could find out

the latitude.

the chicken is so meaty and juicy its sooo yummy

it really is something that is way different from a kara-age or regular fried chicken

its a new taste experience

so nice to have all this veg with it as well

and look this has got me all excited red chili, sweet chili, teriyaki, and even garlic

lets kick things off with this sweet chili

I love sweet chili sauce so much

this is def gonna taste so good

the creamy tartar sauce has mellowed out the sweet spicy chili sauce

next up the teriyaki sauce

these 3 sauces are making me so happy right now

looks so yummy

its very strongly flavored

since the chicken has a rather neutral flavor it really goes nicely with any sauce you throw at it

grabbing your chicken like this is pretty fun gradually gradually..... I'm about half done

maybe halfway there... it saddens me that I'm about half done

next up is this red chili ~ wonder if its really spicy ~

oh that's right apparently the thing that they recommend you do here is to try these sauces along with the tartar sauce

oh its not that spicy at all ~have I grown a real tolerance to really spicy foods... I wonder~

for reals its yummy

and it was flavored with all sorts of spices which really made it taste so good

Stephanie Davis has revealed what she would do if baby Caben was brought into an argument.

The former Celebrity Big Brother star was on Bit On The Side on Monday night to give her views on the latest goings on in the house.

Rylan Clark-Neal introduced her as the tabloid darling and asked for her views on the argument between Isabelle Warburton and Lotan Carter that led to his ejection from the house.

The Dreamboy was kicked out after he aggressively threw a drink over some of his fellow housemates, causing a massive stand-off between various members of the house.

He got angry after Isabelle claimed he was a bad role model for his young son. Stephanie, who is mum to baby Caben, said people could not judge him until they were put in that situation.

The former Hollyoaks star said: From the viewers point of view I think hes had enough warnings. He came across as too arrogant. Did he deserve to go over what others did? I dont know.

If someone brought my son into it, Im quite a fiery person as it is, you can imagine what Id be like. And you dont know until youre in that situation so you cant judge.

Rylan admitted they loved drama but didnt condone anything that happened. He also said that Stephanies item on love had to be dropped due to all the drama going on in the last few days.

She claimed that Deborah was being very clever about her reaction, where she stormed up the stairs towards Ellie. Stephanie added: 100% everything that was going on between Lotan and Isabelle was brewing like a kettle.

But then Deborah and Hannah I just didnt like how they acted. The BOTS line-up was completed by Vogue Williams and Ricky Norwood who gave their views on the latest goings on in the house.

Spencer Matthews girlfriend said she was glad Lotan was gone. Former EastEnders star Ricky, who lived in the house with Stephen Bear , said it was too volatile and that the two cliques were trying to point score against each other.
