A Woman Spreads Coffee On The Face And We All Have At Home – So Start To Use It For

Lot Of Benefits

After waking up, we grab coffee right?

The most popular morning beverage everywhere.

Amazing, tasty, gives energy and we misuse it often.

Let's say coffee is good for home care and beauty too.

These grounds in the cup bottom can even be really handy at all times.

Spread them on baking paper to dry.

The 13 uses after this are:

CELLULITE

– Use coffee as anti-cellulite cream.

Mix the grounds with some oil and be amazed by this cream.

SOAP

– No chemicals use coffee.

Hands will be clean and this item also is good exfoliator.

HAIR

– The hair will get nutrients and be vivacious better than with masks.

For darker color is better since it gives more radiance.

BAGS UNDER EYES

– Mix coffee and some olive oil.

Put this under the eyes and restore this skin.

IN FRIDGE

– For removal of fridge smell put coffee in a cup and then in the fridge.

This will make odors neutral.

GRILL RUST

– No one wants to clean the mess after BBQ.

Put coffee on sponge and start rubbing.

Rinse with hot water and finish.

ABRASIVE

– Use it as chemical-free since it is just as good as dish soap.

NO ANTS

– Also coffee helps for ants.

The smell makes ants light headed and they get dizzy.

FOR FLEAS

– Like ants, fleas dislike coffee.

Rub some grounds on the hair of the pet and massage the fur.

Fleas will be gone.

NO WASPS

– Put some coffee in a jar and light this with match.

The steam will chase away wasps fast they dislike this aroma too.

NO SNAILS

– Snails also are not fans of coffee smell so spread coffee on the soil.

CATS

– If you dislike stray cats, spread coffee near the house and keep cats far.

FERTILIZER

– Coffee has nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium.

This helps plants grow better, so sprinkle coffee on the soil.

Episode 15 - Should we fear God Part 1 [ ENGLISH Subs available ] www.mgpministries.com - Duration: 21:47.

Praise the Lord.

It is such a joy to meet you once again through this episode.

Last week we saw how God has asked us to honour all people.

Through many verses we saw why God has asked us to do so.

Today we are going to see on Should we fear God? Let us see this based on a few verses.

The verses that we saw last week are the same as what we would see now.

But we will see different parts of those verses.

II Peter 2:17, the first part says Honour all people.

Then it is said, love the brotherhood; fear God and honour the king.

Today we are going to see the third part fear God.

God says that man has to fear Him, who has created him.

Often the word Fear refers to the fear that we have for darkness or over some shocking news or so.

That fear has nothing to do with this fear of God.

Actually this refers to reverence. Fear of God is nothing but revering God.

This verse actually tells us how we should revere God.

When it is said, Fear God, many people wonder why they should fear Him because He is our Father,

He is our King, and they ask shouldn't we live in closeness with Him? Of course this is true. I wouldn't deny it.

However this does not mean that just because you fear God, you are not close to God.

Just because I fear God that does not mean that I am not pleasing to God or am not close with Him.

Such idea is our own perception. Why does God say, Fear God?

Let us see these verses to find out the reason.

Deuteronomy 5:29 says, Oh, that they had such a heart in them that they would fear Me and always keep all My commandments,

that it might be well with them and with their children forever!

God tells the people of Israel, You should always follow My Commandments and walk in fear of Me

Imagine a family! The father is the head and then the mother and children are there.

Even so, if we should not misuse each other within a family and to keep it with proper restraint,

the father would always take the authority and bring us within a boundary –

You should not do mischief; you shouldn't talk loudly…

Thus the father would admonish us about something or the other.

Only when we have respect for our father, we would listen to him saying,

Yes, dad, what you say is correct… We would fear him in the sense that we revere our father.

Why so? We follow our father's words.

Just because I fear or give reverence to my father, that does not mean that there is no relationship between both of us.

Though a father-son relationship exists between us, I should listen to my father's words in fear

and reverence and should not misuse it. The same words are said in the Bible too.

God says, You should always fear Me. We should fear God's Words; His commandments.

We should fear in doing wrongs; in disobeying God's words.

When we live thus, truly we would be made into that new man about whom God speaks.

On many occasions, God tells the Israelites, these people worship Me in their mouth but not in their hearts

The truth is today it has become a fashion to say I am a God fearing person when someone

– may be from our office or any other place – asks us Brother are you spiritual or religious?

That's all! We should think whether we really have the fear of God in us to call ourselves God fearing persons.

When we see this on the basis of the Scriptures, it is said, When I walk in fear of God, I first of all shun evil.

Proverbs 8:13 says, The fear of the LORD is to hate evil; Pride and arrogance and the evil way And the perverse mouth I hate.

The actual meaning of walking in fear of God is he/she should hate evil.

A person who does not have pride, anger, arrogance, wicked nature, and the habit of not talking

whatever comes to his/her mouth, is called the person who lives in fear of God.

Today I may be a big pastor in the church, a leader in a big ministry, or a Founder of a big church,

and a person of good status, popular in the Christian society. Nothing wrong in this.

God has blessed me and He has given me this.

But still, if we are a God fearing person, first of all we should come out of evil.

What is that evil? I will not have pride – whether it is pride about my ministry or my faith

or my testimony or my family and proudly telling,"Look at my majestic ministry!

We would not have any such pride. Next, we will not have arrogance.

Many times, when we are busy in the ministry, we lose our temper with many people.

There is nothing wrong in warning when something wrong is done.

Usually when we are busy, we would be tensed up. We would be short tempered.

This world has taught us, if you are busy or occupied it is natural for you to have a healthy arrogance.

In my office I have seen managers who are under pressure and busy, flying to places

and attending meetings and they would bring revenues for the company.

They would always be strict and arrogant. They would not be jovial; even while eating they would look stern.

Why I am telling all these is that this is not wrong according to this world.

The ruler of this world and the people of the world teach us only this.

But what does the Bible teach us? When you walk in fear of God, you would never be arrogant and proud,

no matter how busy you are and how occupied you are.

The next thing is, today we have forgotten to speak about wicked Characteristics.

Those who are not of Christianity live in sin and they go to hell – This is the concept that we have.

The concept that could be seen in Christianity is We have sinned; God has shed His blood; we will go to heaven.

There is no change in this. He doesn't know Christ and so he sins and goes to hell.

But I know Christ; I do presumptuous sins but I will go to heaven - Thus I say.

We call this as grace. This is the biggest foolishness.

We would know if this is true or not only after we die.

A holy God would never insist that we can live as we like.

Even today I tell you, if a person wants to live in spiritual way, he should not be proud of his physical body or his ministry

(though he may be a Christian) but should deny everything wholly and shape up his spirit and soul in the form expected by God.

This would bring a productivity in life.

God says that the first thing a man, who fears God, would do is to depart from evil.

What evil? He will not have pride, arrogance, wrong words, and his wicked characteristics would change.

Today let us analyze if the pastor of your church or a minister of God who guides us

or fellow leaders or our elders or bishops or whoever it may be,

have evil character you should realize that they are not God fearing persons – they take alcohol, smoke.

The one wicked character that is casually mentioned in this world is I take drinks; I had severe body pain and so I took wine.

Such people who give lame excuses are not the ones who fear God.

What does such kind of people do?

They would search the Scriptures deeply to find out if there is any verse that supports their habits.

In one place Paul says , use a little wine for your stomach's sake and your frequent infirmities

Based on this verse, some people would say, We can take wine and alcohol. Such thoughts develop in them.

If you see the context of this verse, it says, when you have infirmity in your stomach, you can use it

Actually, that wine was not alcohol based as it is done now;

in those days it was a drink meant for medicinal purposes.

But what do we do? We go to a bar or super market and have the drink.

To convince ourselves we search for a verse.

My subject is not on whether to drink or not but that whoever does this has absolutely no fear of God.

If a person is addicted to it but is trying to break this habit, it is a different matter.

Some people would have left that habit. That's also different.

But when this is preached as the right thing and when it is accepted so, it means that they are not leading a life of fearing God.

Today we need to have the fear of God. I know a sister who is more or less a family friend who sends us prayer requests.

She always used to ask, I want to see God and what should I do?

I used to tell her, We can't do anything about it. We will pray in faith and

God may help in His grace by seeing the spiritual maturity. Or He may not help also.

Even so, still He is alive with you and He watches you. So keep praying.

One day when the sister was praying, she felt the awesome presence of God

and kept praying with closed eyes at night.

She could sense the presence of God and someone touching her.

She got scared and got up and ran to bed.

Actually this is fear. This is an immature fear.

This fear is not at all connected to the fear mentioned in the verse.

The fear that ought to be given to God is reverence.

The fear that sister had, was a worldly fear. T

his is related to a different subject and I have cited this as an example.

Fear God'does not mean running away in fear. Fear God is, following His word and walking in Him and with Him.

God fearing person is the one who is walking closely with God.

Though there are not many verses in the Bible about Enoch, crisply and effectively it is written,

He lived a righteous and faithful life and walked with God. One day, he was taken up.

Enoch is not mentioned in one or two pages of the Bible but he is talked about only

in a couple of verses which is enough to make a great impact on us and kindles the desire in all of us to live like Enoch.

He walked with God and was taken up. Why do I say this?

Enoch was such a God fearing person that he departed from evil –

though his forefathers had come from Adam – he did not mix with the people of the world in his period.

Noah was like that. In the period of Noah, we don't know how far the culture was established

and how far the people monitored and lived in fellowship.

However, in his period, Noah was a good and righteous man. God liked Noah.

That's why even when He decided to destroy the whole world, it was because of Noah, today we are here.

Because that one family – Noah's family – was righteous, God has given us the grace to enjoy today in this world.

Without Noah, the world would have been completely destroyed and

eternity would have been wiped off and we wouldn't have known what life is,

and love is, and we wouldn't have an eternal livelihood and life.

God chose a Noah and he lived as a righteous man.

In that period when he lived, he was not addicted to sin and alcohol but rather was a good man.

Today, we too should live like that, with good qualities.

We should give God the fear or reverence.

A God fearing person does not mean running away from God but having a caution never to run away from the Word of God.

God says, Follow My commandments, Follow My commandments and be fearful of Me.

The Bible says, Fear of the Lord is the beginning of all wisdom

There is a difference between wisdom and knowledge.

In knowledge you would know the good and the evil.

Suppose I have a gun and I know how to use it properly.

I am asked to fill my rifle and take aim at evil people and shoot them down.

If we are in the military or army we would know this.

I have this knowledge and because I have wisdom, I handle this knowledge properly.

What would I do if I have knowledge but not wisdom? I will be randomly aiming and shooting around.

Everybody has knowledge. All the people of the world have knowledge. They know what is good and evil.

Still they would choose both the good and the evil. This is based on knowledge.

But a man with wisdom, would depart from evil and seek after good.

Today God has given wisdom to the people, who follow Him.

How does it begin? When he walks in fear of God,

firstly God would give him wisdom with which everyday he would diligently follow His Word and live a good exemplary life.

Today let us live such a life.

Job 1:1 says, There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was blameless and upright,

and one who feared God and shunned evil.

Job was blameless; nobody could find fault with him. He was righteous and thirdly he lived with fear of God.

Fourthly he shunned evil – departed from evil.

From the Bible we have come to know from early time to the period when Jesus lived

and to the time of Apostles, how people lived, what was their culture, and what were their ways.

Since we have learnt these from the Bible, it does not mean that only the Biblical characters should have lived so.

We need to change into such characters.

It is in our hands to decide whether our name should be found in the Book of Life or not.

There are two kinds of book in the Bible.

One is 'Book of Law' and the other is 'Book of Life'.

Book of Law is the Bible that we read. Book of Life is God's book and it is in heaven.

In Revelations it is said that a man, who wants to live by the Book of Law will be written in the Book of Life by God.

If your name is written in the Book of Life, it means that you follow the Word

and you will give the reverence that should be given to God. Let us live accordingly.

Christian path is not an easy path. For who? For the people of this world.

Christian life is the one which lives for God, with zeal and desire to live holy.

For such people it would be an easy life and they alone would go to heaven through a narrow path.

I am not saved by the fact that I have been born as a Christian.

If I am truly born in a Christian family, I should first see my salvation experience.

My family is a Christian; I go to church; So I would follow Christianity and go to heaven –

If I say this, it is not possible. You have a chance.

Because you were born in a family that knows God,

you have not followed any other gods or devils but the Scriptures.

One day or the other you need to have the salvation experience.

Every man of this world – Christian or Muslim or Hindu – should have the assurance in his life

about one particular day and say, This was the day when I was saved and God saved me Why?

Only then he can live a testimonial life.

Those who have this assurance, they will live quietly, happily

and in fear of God and capture the Kingdom of heaven.

Today let us live in fear of God.

Fearing God does not mean running but giving reverence to God,

getting united with Him and not running away from His Word.

Let us pray: "Praise you Lord. Loving Father, thank You for this time, O King.

Thank You for the verses You have given for me to hear Your Word and fear God.

Father, help us to fear God, give honour to people, and give respect to our authorities

and those who rule over us. Let us not grumble against anyone and fall into sin.

We commit ourselves to live in fear of God and walk with Him.

Change the life of everyone who hears this and give them the wisdom needed for their mind, soul body and the spirit.

Give them the knowledge. We read in the Bible that the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom, O Lord.

Accordingly, help us to walk in fear of God, follow His Words, and

establish the Kingdom of God in this world also and to live with You in heaven also eternally.

Thank You Lord for making us righteous because of Your righteousness and teaching us to grow in righteousness.

Thank You for Your Word. Thank You for this grace.

We pray this in the name of the Saviour and living Lord Jesus Christ O Father –

Amen,

Praise the Lord.

Praise the Lord.

WEDDING PLANS | We've set a date! - Duration: 3:41.

Hello! Today I thought I would tell you a little bit about where we are with our weddingplanning.

Because now it's... almost... Is it almost 6 months ago?

Round about six months since we got engaged.

And now we've actually today booked our reception venue.

And that was actually one of the things on my bucket list I'm just realizing!

So in that sense we can actually add a little 'tick' to that!

We have booked the perfect venue to have our wedding reception.

So we had been to see this place already once earlier this summer

we were pretty sure then already that this will the place

because it's very close to where the ceremony will take place

So we'll have the ceremony here, where I'm filming this now.

I mean, not in this room but in these surroundings.

So we found a place that's quite close to here and it's quite small but we wanted a pretty small wedding

So I think it's going to suit us well

We went there again today, we wanted to check the prices and confirm a little this and that

So we went there with my sisters and Dave.

One of my sisters is my maid of honour and the other one is a bridesmaid

They approved of the place and everyone thought it seemed quite good

So we have now officially booked it.

And because of that we've actually now set a date

Because until now we've kind of been like 'we don't know the date for the wedding, it all depends on the venue'

Since the ceremony will take place at our summer house the date doesn't really matter for us

It's not like we need to book a church.

So now since we finally booked the venue it means that we've set the date.

Which is a pretty major thing I guess

I think quite a lot's still gonna happen this summer with regards to planning and booking of certain things

Which is kind of crazy that you need to do it a year in advance but that's the way you apparently need to do it.

It's strange because the whole spring we've kind of... Okay, so when we got engaged, for a couple of weeks

I was kind of like 'oooh, we're getting married', oooh looking at Pinterest

But then we like kind of forgot about the whole thing; we talked very little about it

It felt like it was so far away, we were in London and it was over a year to go

So there wasn't much to talk about at that stage.

But now that we're here and I'm at the location every day

It's naturally in our minds all the time, for instance every time I see the place where the ceremony will be

you get reminded of it.

So that's why it's been on my mind quite a lot and I think that's okay because now we have time

We have time to think about stuff, I have time to research this and that.

But then when we go back to London I don't know what's gonna happen with my work situation

so I think it's good to have had this time now

I think when we go back to London we'll forget about all this, put it on ice for 6 months

Because then all the most important stuff will be booked like catering, venue, hair&makeup, photographer

all of that will be booked by the end of the summer

and then we'll send out some save the dates and that's that for many months.

and then we can just think about other stuff which will probably be quite nice.

But it's been quite fun, it's been fun to think about how we could make the day as personal as we can

Make it feel like us; simple but personal and cosy... all the positive words!

But anyway, this was just a little one year ahead of the wedding update

There might a few more every three months... or six months

But I thought since quite a few of you have said that you're interested in hearing how the planning is going

and what we've decided and so on.

Thank you for watching this video, hope you enjoyed it!

If you want to follow me on social media and follow our wedding planning

you can find all the links down below.

So you guys take care and we'll see each other again soon!

Bye!

Gossip Spy Can't Resist Interrogation (ep 4) (by We Are Thomasse) - Duration: 1:52.

(French accent:) Alright Monsieur Farley. Reveal your sources.

Your sources, Monsieur Farley! Now! Or else!

Alright! Fine!

Marinara, Alfredo, Bernaise!

For a Marinara sauce, you'll want to start with fresh roma tomatoes, extra virgin olive oil, fresh basil, and some really good sea salt-

-all over the floor,

which is why my girlfriend, Agent Short,

insists upon using tinned tomatoes which I think is ridiculous.

Probably the only thing we'd ever actually fight about if she'd ever talk to me.

I'm certain Agent Short is not your girlfriend!

Only a fool would date you!

Agent Short's no fool!

Well, that is true.

She's so smart, Mademoiselle Franck!

Did you know she's a spy too? We have so much in common!

But she's an American spy!

I learned how to make Alfredo sauce by watching her one night in the kitchen

with my spy goggles.

Alfredo sauce is so naughty and creamy!

Speaking of naughty, did you hear that the Vatican spies have started slipping secrets to the Russians?

I know because Anton told me!

He's like old-school KGB, but totally my best friend-

But... I never... told you...

how not... to burn... the Bernaise!

Top 10 Simple Things We Still Don't Understand - Duration: 12:38.

Top 10 Simple Things We Still Don't Understand

Some have said that the human pursuit of knowledge is like awakening naked in a dark forest,

and being asked "how did you get here?"

Despite the many difficulties and false beliefs, man has undoubtedly made great strides in

having a better understanding of our world.

However, there are still ideas, behaviors, and concepts that we still fail to understand.

Even the most simple concepts, like the world being round, hasn't necessarily found footing.

At TopTenz, we've decided to investigate 10 simple things that we don't fully understand,

in hopes that we can come to understand that we're not out of the wilderness yet.

10.

Some People Don't Need Sleep

We know, we know.

You're thinking, what is sleep doing on this list?

We all know the function of sleep and its importance for brain health and overall wellness.

It's widely believed that the brain needs sleep to generate new pathways and connections.

Without sleep, the body would be unable to hold onto these connections and it would also

struggle to rejuvenate itself, repair tissue, and synthesize hormones.

The curious case of short sleepers, profiled in Ying-Hui Fu's lab at the University of

California-San Francisco, demonstrates that we haven't come to understand sleep as well

as we think.

In 2009, a woman entered Fu's lab and gave a surprising account.

No matter what time she went to bed, even if it was late at night, she would still wake

up at the crack of dawn.

She could never sleep in.

Never.

And according to the subject, it was the same for several members of her family.

Skeptical at first, Fue and her colleagues, decided to compare the genome of different

family members.

The result was an amazing discovery: a tiny mutation in a gene called DEC2.

The mutation was present in family members who identified as short sleepers, but not

in members of the family who had normal length sleep, nor in 250 unrelated volunteers.

However, without more conclusive evidence the finding would not be well received.

Fu was left with a conundrum: how do we prove that the DEC2 gene is tied to sleep?

In order to test their hypothesis, Fu and her team decided to breed mice to express

the same mutation of the "short sleepers."

The results proved that their hypothesis was correct: the mice with the mutation performed

just as well as regular mice, in terms of physical and cognitive tasks, while sleeping

substantially less.

Fu's subject would relay that her short sleeping abilities allowed her to finish college

in just two and half years and has generally given her ample time to become a more fulfilled

person.

Imagine, having 60 extra days a year.

That's a reality that future generations will certainly enjoy.

We Still Don't Know How Many Species There Are on Earth

Since Noah and his Ark, human beings have attempted to categorize and catalogue the

different species that we share the planet with.

You'd think we'd be able to have a concrete understanding of the other creatures that

roam this planet with us, but we really don't.

In fact, it's almost embarrassing how far ranging our estimates are.

Most taxonomists believe we haven't even scratched the surface in discovering all the

creatures that live on the planet.

After nearly 250 years of work, and the findings of over 15,000 new living beings each year,

taxonomists still shy away from coming up with concrete estimates of how many species

inhabit the planet Earth.

Scientists have identified nearly 8.7 million species, but that number is constantly challenged

by scientists presenting new methods and models for extrapolation.

One concept proposed by Richard May, an evolutionary biologist, is that the diversity of land animals

increases as they get smaller and, granting that we'd discovered most species of big

animals, he used them as a model for smaller species and concluded that there are 10 to

50 million species of land animals.

Many might be asking why it is so difficult to come up with a finite number?

One of the biggest reasons is that 99 percent of all living space is under the ocean, and

we've explored less than 10 percent of it.

8.

We Know Dreaming is Important, but We Don't Know Why

Sigmund Freud believed that dreams are a window into the unconscious mind, which express hidden

feelings that are repressed or that we're simply unaware of.

And while that may not be true, it's just one of the many theories on the nature of

dreams that have not resulted in fundamental answers.

What we do know for certain is that everyone dreams.

The most vivid dreams occur during the REM cycle, when the brain is most active, and

while it may not feel like it, but experts claim we dream at least 4 to 6 times per night.

If we're said to dream 6 times a night, and rarely remember our dreams, what could

possibly be the purpose?

Why do we remember some dreams and not others?

We simply have no answers.

What we do know is that dreaming is important to our health and well-being.

A study in which researchers woke subjects just as they were drifting off into REM sleep

found that those who were not allowed to dream experienced: increased tension, anxiety, depression,

difficulty concentrating, lack of coordination, weight gain, and a tendency to hallucinate.

We guess that we've found new meaning in the phrase "never stop dreaming."

7.

Laughing: A Universal Language?

Something as universal as laughter would seemingly be easy to explain.

It's not.

Like dreams, laughter is a powerful display of our unconscious.

Laughter is involuntary, and thus is a window into our sensibilities.

Think about it.

Laughter changes our facial expressions, elicits noises (some more flattering than others),

and is without question contagious.

Who hasn't been a room where everyone breaks out into fits of laughter?

So what triggers it?

It's not as simple as you think.

Studies have shown that laughter is less about humor and more about social interaction and

communication.

Laughter is first exhibited in a child at three and a half to four months of age, well

before speech, and as such laughter, similar to crying, is a way for an infant to interact

with the mother.

The idea that laughter is another form of communication was studied by researchers who

went to local malls and city sidewalks and recorded what happened just before people

laughed.

Over the course of nearly ten years, and observing more than 2,000 cases of naturally occurring

laughter, "[they] found that most laughter does not follow jokes.

People laugh after a variety of statements, such as 'Hey John, where ya been?' and

'Here comes Mary.'"

It is not a leap to suggest that laughter supplements language to undress situations

and to better form relationships or create bonds.

6.

Yawning Cools the Brain

Another involuntary action that we've been unable to come to terms with is yawning.

A behavior that occurs across species still has managed to puzzle scientists.

A widely held belief that yawning occurs so oxygen can enter our bloodstream and to wake

us up when we're becoming drowsy has actually been disproven.

Steven Platek, a psychology professor at Georgia Gwinnett College, is one of the many scientists

who have said there is zero evidence that yawning affects levels of oxygen in the bloodstream,

blood pressure, or heart rate.

The pervading theory is that the purpose yawning is to cool down the brain.

The importance of scientific inquiry is that while eliminating one hypothesis it can make

way for another.

Subsequently, with studies showing that yawning does not affect levels of oxygen in the bloodstream,

other experiments showed that yawning actually changes the temperature of the brain itself.

A Gallup study that took place in 2007 revealed that holding hot or cold packs to the forehead

influenced how often people yawned, in instances where they saw others doing it.

Additionally, when subjects held a warm pack to their forehead, "they yawned 41 percent

of the time… (and) when they held a cold pack, the incidence of yawning dropped to

9 percent."

Mechanically speaking, stretching our jaws leads to an increasing rate of blood flow

to the skull and by inhaling at the same time, the air changes the temperature of the flow,

leading to cooler blood flowing to the brain.

Experiments done on our favorite test subjects, mice, supported the conclusion that "an

increase in brain temperature was found to precede yawning.

Once the tiny rodents opened wide and inhaled, the temperature decreased."

5.

Mosquitoes Like Some More Than Others

"They like you more."

That's the common refrain when a night out on the beach leads to one family member being

left ravaged by mosquitoes.

The truth is that remark has almost been taken as explanatory.

In reality, most of us don't know why some individuals are targeted more than others.

Scientists have come to the believe that 20% of population is more attractive to mosquitoes

than others.

Scientists have not settled on what exactly distinguishes that 20 percent, but one of

the leading theories is blood type.

A study found that Type O blood was twice more likely to be bitten than Type A. The

data is less conclusive with Type B with researchers concluding that it falls somewhere in the

middle of desirable and undesirable for mosquitoes.

4.

Blushing May Have Started as a Social Custom

"Man is the only animal that blushes.

Or needs to."

The eternal words of Mark Twain need only to tell us why exactly man "needs to."

It seems to be the most basic of human behaviors.

We blush when we're embarrassed.

Being the product of an evolutionary process that eliminates characteristics that lower

survival, how did blushing, a response that shows vulnerability, manage to manifest itself

in all cultures and peoples?

Darwin remained puzzled until his death, but that did not stop other scientists from attempting

to explain this behavior.

Currently, one of the leading theories of the origin of blushing is that it began as

an appeasement ritual: to submit to the authority of dominant members of a group.

Naturally, submitting to said member would then increase one's chances of surviving

in that group.

Scientists believe that as our social interactions later became more complex, it became intertwined

with emotions like guilt, shame, and embarrassment.

And as the rearing of family became of the utmost importance in agrarian societies, neuroscientists

note that it may have been viewed as socially desirable and attractive for women to blush

and therefore reveal honesty to men.

3.

What's the Deal With Pubic Hair?

No longer hairy apes, we've evolved and lost most of our thick wool of hair that seemed

to represent that earlier period in our evolutionary past.

However, a reminder of that history remains in the most unlikely of places: hair in our

genital regions.

What purpose could pubic hair possibly have?

If you've been following along, you'll know the answer is far from straightforward.

One of the most popular theories is that "since thicker hair gathers in regions where we have

apocrine (scent) sweat glands as well as eccrine (cooling) ones, it may serve to waft odors

that signal sexual maturity."

Just another example that we're just one small piece in a long fabric of evolution.

2.

Kissing Isn't Universal

For us at TopTenz, we were surprised to learn that kissing was not a universally practiced

show of affection.

It turns out just 46% of cultures engage in the locking of lips.

Probably the most likely proposition is that the custom began during child rearing, where

the connection between a mother and an infant comes from the "mouth sensations associated

with breastfeeding."

In addition, earlier epochs, probably engaged in mouth-to-mouth feeding of chewed food,

is a custom that's still carried out by the Manus cultures of the Admiralty Islands.

The act of premastication is used by women to remind children and descendants of their

obligations to her.

Lastly, in terms of physiology, our lips are among the most sensitive parts of our bodies,

with sensory neurons linked to our brain's pleasure palaces.

The benefits of which has shown that kissing reduces levels of the stress, hormone cortisol

and increases the bonding hormone, oxytocin.

1.

Consciousness is a Puzzle That's Ever-Changing

The most complex concept on our list has been puzzling great thinkers for generations.

In the 17th century, Descartes, a French philosopher, posited the notion that mind and body were

completely separate.

That began a philosophical battle that continues to this day.

Without any answers, we will ask you to choose what camp you're in.

Descartes was the earliest proponent of idealism – the idea that the mind and body are entirely

separate.

On the other hand there are the materialists, like Karl Marx, who believe that nothing exists

apart from the material world (i.e. physical matter like the brain); materialist psychologists

generally agree that consciousness (the mind) is the function

of the brain.

The Coolest Things We Didn't Know About Pluto Two Years Ago - Duration: 4:27.

[INTRO ♪]

When New Horizons set off toward Pluto in 2006,

we had almost no idea what we would find there.

We knew a little about its size and composition, but that was mostly it.

We didn't even really know what it looked like.

Then, on July 14, 2015, New Horizons showed up at Pluto, and totally blew our minds.

We found out the Pluto system is one of the coolest places we've ever explored.

So to celebrate the fly-by's two-year anniversary,

here are some of the most exciting things that we've learned.

First, there's that giant, super cute heart,

which scientists informally called Sputnik Planum.

That area is made up mostly of slowly flowing, frozen nitrogen.

The mass of moving ice is one of the largest glaciers in the solar system!

But what's especially neat is that the nitrogen ice is undergoing convection,

the circular current that forms as material heats up and cools down.

Pluto is pretty cold, at around -230 degrees Celsius on average.

But the elements slowly decaying in Pluto's core create just enough heat

to make underground nitrogen ice all soft and mushy.

Then, that soft ice rises to the surface, cools down, and sinks underground again,

kinda like a gigantic, groovy lava lamp.

A lot of scientists didn't expect to see active geology on Pluto,

which made this discovery an awesome surprise.

New Horizons found that Pluto has plenty of mountains, too,

including some covered in methane ice.

And some of those mountains, like one called Wright Mons,

even look like they could be cryovolcanoes, or ice volcanoes.

We didn't see anything actively erupting when New Horizons flew by,

so we don't know for sure, but these volcanoes might erupt

with a mixture of water ice, ammonia, methane, or frozen nitrogen.

Which is pretty neat for a little world so far away.

And the discoveries about Pluto weren't limited to the ground,

or what could potentially erupt out of it.

New Horizons also found out that Pluto's sky is blue.

It's just like home!

That is, besides the freezing temperatures, lack of sunlight, and toxic air.

Here on Earth, the sky is blue because molecules like nitrogen in the atmosphere scatter sunlight,

but on Pluto, molecules called tholins do the scattering.

Tholins are complex, organic molecules that form when UV light from the Sun reacts with

the nitrogen and methane in Pluto's atmosphere.

The tholins themselves are probably grey or red,

and they help give Pluto's surface some of its color.

But their small size makes them perfect for scattering blue light.

Aww! There's nothing like finding little reminders of home billions of kilometers away.

While it was flying past Pluto, New Horizons also got our closest look at Pluto's moons:

Charon, Hydra, Nix, Styx, and Kerberos.

And the largest moon, Charon, had some fun surprises.

For one thing, its north pole, which the New Horizons team dubbed Mordor, is dark red,

and Pluto might have had something to do with that.

In a paper published in the journal Nature last year, scientists suggested Charon's

pole is red because Pluto's atmosphere is staining it.

After methane escapes from Pluto's atmosphere, it's caught by Charon's gravity and then

collects and freezes on the moon's north pole, one of the only places on Charon

cold enough to have frozen methane all year.

Then, ultraviolet rays from the Sun cause a chemical reaction in the methane,

which turns it into tholins, those same reddish, organic molecules

that make Pluto's sky blue.

We've never seen coloring like Charon's before,

and it looks like we can thank Pluto for that, too.

But Charon can also take credit for some of its awesome features.

Like its gigantic canyon system that's 1800 kilometers long and up to 7.5 kilometers deep.

That's four times as long and four times as deep as the Grand Canyon,

even though Charon's diameter is less than 10% of Earth's.

The canyon probably stretches around most of Charon's surface, and there are also

plenty of mountains on what we thought was going to be a boring, little moon.

Charon might have ended up with that weirdly uneven geology because of a subsurface ocean

that froze a few hundred million years after the moon formed.

Most of Charon's surface is made up of water ice, but astronomers think that right after

Charon formed, it might have been hot enough to melt some of the ice underground.

Then, over time, the underground ocean could have frozen, expanded,

and created that huge fracture in Charon's surface.

We're not positive that's exactly what happened, but the possibility of another ocean

in the solar system is just plain awesome.

So from the tip top of ice volcanoes to the bottom of super canyons,

New Horizons has shown us that the Kuiper Belt is way more fascinating than we thought.

And two years later, scientists still have plenty of data to analyze,

so we'll be learning a lot more about Pluto and its moons in the future.

Meanwhile, New Horizons is on track to visit another object in the Kuiper Belt,

called 2014 MU69, on New Year's Day, 2019.

So this little spacecraft isn't done teaching us about the solar system yet.

And neither are we!
