why do we glow into looking rectangles

wait, those are the wrong ones

why do we look at

glowing rectangles?

Sometimes I even think that this question is as simple as

"Why do we travel in time?"

But if I asked it right now it would divide the viewers into 3 groups

Usually it's because we can find people...

...doing things there

Usually it's because they are rectangular

and they glow

But what if

they don't glow because it's daytime?

What do you think, why do we look at glowing rectangles?

Because they are rectangles.

So?

They are just nice.

Like apartaments.

OK, do you understand this?

In some we can see, for example, the sun

if so, I had to somehow be looking at a glowing rectangle

because otherwise I would have no way of recording this

Oh, I think I just moved.

We look at glowing rectangles...

...because sometimes we want to see...

...what is it going to be about because we simply had the same idea

Sometimes it's because we see ourselves there

Or when we are with someone and want to show them something fast

Those are the servers

But we need to be VEEERY quiet when we say they are servers

is the fact that inside

Ask the Aquarium — "Why Do Small Fish Matter?" - Duration: 1:07.

I'm standing in front of River Giants, and these have our big fish.

That's what everyone seems to be attracted to and notice, but our rivers and creeks are

full of small, little fish that are really important.

What are these big fish going to eat?

They've got to eat smaller fish.

What do these smaller fish eat?

They eat little aquatic insects.

The aquatic insects have to eat even smaller animals.

All of this is part of our aquatic ecosystem.

When we have a healthy aquatic ecosystem, we not only have big fish, we have little

fish and a whole lot of other cool, aquatic animals.

Not only does this help us have a healthy aquatic ecosystem, it helps humans.

This ecosystem pretty much cleans our water.

Having a healthy ecosystem helps all of us, from humans to big fish to those tiny,

but mighty important fishes.

How Basware helps finance and procurement spend less and do more | European CEO - Duration: 5:48.

European CEO: Do you know how your business spends its money?

And, not just know, but: really understand your spending patterns, your compliance, and

your performance?

My next guests are from procure-to-pay solutions provider Basware, and it's their job to help

CPOs spend less but do more.

Regina, how is the role of finance and procurement changing today?

Regina Duzanskaja: There's a lot of change going on in the space right now.

The role of finance and procurement is changing from purely, sort of, transactional based,

where these areas are supporting the overall business in a back-office type of role; to

a role where these functions are delivering strategic value to the business.

Since 2008 we've seen a lot of companies cut down their spend, reducing

their costs; now the companies are starting to invest again.

But they're not investing in people to process transactions.

They're investing in technology platforms to enable automation, and access to data and analytics

And that is changing the space quite rapidly.

European CEO: Thousands of customers are turning to Basware in order to adapt to that changing

space; tell me more.

Regina Duzanskaja: Our customer base includes some of the largest global corporations around

the world, including Daimler, Carlsberg, IKEA; just to name a few.

We are able to capture 100 percent of spend, which means 100 percent control and visibility.

How we are doing that is, essentially: 100 percent invoice capture, enabling to our customers

to receive 100 percent paperless from day one. Number two is to make sure that our platform,

our software, is easy to use.

The third area is 100 percent automation – we are looking to eliminate all manual tasks

in the procurement to pay process.

So, our customers are able to see their spend in a dashboard, analyse their spending patterns,

and we're also introducing peer benchmarking.

So the CFOs and procurement leaders can use these tools to guide their teams to deliver

better automation performance and better stats.

European CEO: Lauri, what opportunities arise for businesses when they have clear access

to all of their spending data?

Lauri Palokangas: I would look at this from three perspectives.

So, profitability, resilience with the supply chain, and then efficiency.

So profitability of course refers back to what Regina told about how to understand where

the cashflow is going, who we are spending with, and then optimising that.

Resilience is understanding, which are the suppliers and business partners that our business

depends upon, and how can we make sure that if there is a potential

disruption down the supply chain, we are prepared for that.

And the third one, efficiency, is: how do people get more done in the same time?

So, bring down the amount of manual work in the organisation.

European CEO: What have been the outcomes of these innovations for your customers?

I remember one customer that began a journey with Basware.

And when I was talking to them in the very beginning, they told me to go to the internet

and look up pictures of offices in the 50s.

And then come and see their offices, which allegedly looked the same!

And the one polar opposite of that would be for instance, Heineken.

Which was automated 97 percent of all of its purchase order -based invoices.

So its manual work has gone to a fraction of what it used to be, and is now giving more

time for that higher value work: talking to suppliers, negotiating better contracts, understanding

where the money is going and how to make the company more profitable.

Regina Duzanskaja: And let me add an example to that.

I was actually talking to one of our US-based customers, whose problem was just massive

amounts of invoices.

Their accounts payable department processed over a million invoices annually.

They employed 38 people.

With our solutions, they were able to cut that staff to only five people, achieving

some of the leading industry benchmarks, saving a lot of money, and redeploying resources

to more strategic assignments in the company.

European CEO: And with these automation elements, cognitive analytics and artificial intelligence

in place, what does the procure-to-pay workflow look like?

Lauri Palokangas: I cannot remember who said it, but: good design, when done well, becomes invisible.

And artificial intelligence is very much like that.

Imagine that you are buying a laptop, you are buying a phone, or some other consumable

that you would be using to carry out your business.

You go to a purchasing solution and you just type in keywords.

Now what artificial intelligence can do is, it can learn from the community of buyers,

and understand what kind of words they are using,

and then adapt what the solution offers to those buyers.

And the end users, all that they see is they are being served by solutions and services

that they need from their preferred vendors.

And when all of this happens over and over again, those professionals will learn what

users prefer, what suppliers can supply what services and goods, and can then apply predictive

analytics on top of everything, so know how to make better purchase decisions in the future.

European CEO: So how big is the market opportunity for Basware?

Regina Duzanskaja: In Europe and North America it's about €15bn,

and the market penetration for our solutions is still low.

So there are plenty of opportunities for companies to automate their spend, invoice processing

and procurement.

And we believe that we have the strongest solutions out there in the market to do that.

European CEO: Regina, Lauri, thank you very much.

Regina Duzanskaja: Thank you.

Lauri Palokangas: Pleasure.

Thanks for watching.

Bursting the Westminster Bubble Why do MPs Bob? - Duration: 1:47.

Hello Plymouth, Luke Pollard here, I'm your Member of Parliament. In the second of my bursting

the Westminster bubble series I'm going to be dealing with why MPs bob up and

down in the chamber.

You might have seen me do this, bobbing

up and down trying to catch the speaker's eye to speak in the debate.

Instead of putting our hands up to speak in the chamber or pressing a button as

you do in other Parliaments, in Westminster you have to bob up and down.

This is so we can catch the speaker's eye and so there's a very strict

hierarchy in the House of Commons, if the father of the House, the MP who's been in

there the longest wants to speak he gets called automatically. Then it goes in

order of seniority so if you've been in the House of Commons for a very long

time, normally meaning you're representing a

very safe seat, you get called next and new MPs like me get called right at the

end, but each time the speaker changes you have to bob up and down like this.

So in a big six hour debate and I've been in a few of them, where I'm the last

person to be called, I can bob up and down 50 to 100 times.

It's good for your legs, good for your ass in terms of your muscles, but it's not

always the easiest thing to do. It means you've got to pay attention and keep an

eye on the speaker and at the end of that there's no guarantee you're going

to get called by the speaker. So next time you see me in the House of Commons

and I'm bobbing up and down, that means I'm trying to attract his

attention, which means I've got something I'm trying to say or a question to ask.

Point of order, Luke Pollard.

That's why we bob up and down, it seems a bit silly really, but it is the

way that Westminster works. Thanks very much Plymouth, see you soon.

What to do at the scene of a car crash - Duration: 12:50.

hello so in this video we're going to take a look at what to do if you're involved in a car crash

I'm going to tell you what the legal requirements are what you must do then

more importantly maybe well you mustn't do there are certain things you mustn't

do or say or you could end up in trouble so let's get straight into the video now

look at three major things you must do immediately if you're involved in a car

crash so the first one is most importantly check if anyone in your

vehicle is injured make sure you look at everyone but ask everyone if you feel

okay say if you've had a friend asleep in the

back seat don't just assume that they're still asleep that may have been injured

you do need to if it's safe to do so wake them up and check if they're okay

they'll probably been working up anyway but even in fairly minor crashes

people can get injured quite easily know if anyone is injured of course call for

an ambulance the next thing you need to do is make

sure you get the number plate of the other vehicle

it's very common I've had this happen to me where people crash into you they

realize it's their fault and it's Drive off and it's hoping that you haven't got

the number plate now if you've got an in-car camera system they are invaluable

not the one I use it's so handy to have that because if they do drive off no no

you can't prove they drew they drove off before other than them to apply to

anyway because you'll have got it recorded before the crash they even

happened the third thing you need to do is don't just jump out your vehicle so

before you get out your car have a look around and taken the situation around

you does it look suspicious are there any people standing at the side of the

road he looked like they may be talking to

the other driver is the more than one person in the other vehicle it's a two

or three people in that car is anyone on the phone before the crash even happened

they got cameras filming you because when I last what happens a lot on a

nowadays is people will get together in a car they'll go and cause a crush then

they'll all pretend they've injured two men loads of money and I conveniently

had their phones out filming at the time of the crush to trying you know to make

the money off you to try and get the conversation another thing that can

often happen is that people which won't steal your car they'll go and Nick a car

will buy an old banger and then are driving is your vehicle called

and then they'll just get out when you get a you jump out to look at the car

see what damage you is they'll get in your vehicle and drive off so those

things are rare but they do happen so if you involved in the crush number one

check your people injured number two okay the other vehicles number plate and

number three don't just jump out of the vehicle assess your surroundings if you

look suspicious lock the doors and stay in your vehicle if it's safe to do so

now let's move on to why you actually need to do when you meet the driver so

when you carry your vehicle then you made the other driver the main thing is

keep calm and polite don't start making threats don't get angry don't start

saying they're an idiot and they've crashing their serum and all that you

learning about the situation worse now by law they must give you their details

if they refuse that's a good enough reason to call the police you can't just

have a crush and say I'm not telling you where I live no not going to tell you

you must by law give the other person your details the minimum you should go

through the person is a name address and I can turn them but if it isn't their

vehicle you also need the address of the owner and the vehicle now there are some

situations where you might feel threatened maybe the other person has

been aggressive maybe the son I'm going to find out where you live and I'm going

to come and sort you out tonight no another situation now I've

never been in this situation myself but I believe you can do you can nominate a

police station so you say to the person look I won't give you my details now

because I believe you're going to do something stupid I'm going to go down a

local police station I'm not going to give them my details tell them which

station it's going to be now that advice used to be on an official government

website he was actually taken down a few days ago just before I film this video

so I would say that you're better off giving them your details right away but

if you've got a very good reason to feel that threatened by them although they

are making threats against you don't feel ashamed to call the police if

they're being aggressive and they're threatening you you've got every right

to do that now next thing you need to do is take photos and/or video of your

vehicle now pretty much everyone's got a phone with a camera on these days so get

your phone out take some photos why because what can happen is people

will have a fairly minor crush and then the other person will go away and have

another crush although you start getting a hammer smashing the car in and I

minded damaged much worse than it is to try and get and you car out of it

instead he just have a linear bumper but I'll know my hole for an end it was

smushed in look at it and they've gone in driven into a lamppost or something I

know it sounds unlikely but it does happen you need to take pictures of your

vehicle and the other vehicle to make sure that that's the damage there was

there trying to video it you know I've done this several times as you'll see

almost sites there were several videos on there you can watch me involved

several different crushes and say Howard out with them and I do take photos in my

vehicle and the other vehicle it's essentially the eyes because

unfortunately people are not honest anymore and people will try and make

money out of a bad situation now if you've been involved in the crash

you know position let's say you're on an amide you Junction you do need to try

and get out of the way but make sure you get the details first make sure you get

the other drivers name address and number trying it up before you move away

from the area unless you in the media danger because guess what some drivers

won't give you the details they'll just say oh yeah we'll drive around the

corner pull over there and I'll give them a name then they just

drive off when you get the other person to give you the details make sure that I

buy them name don't write them down yourself don't be there with a pen and

paper so much your name what's your address get them to write it down why or

two reasons first of all it proves that over there because you've got their

handwriting on a piece of paper I had a crush once where the other driver said I

wasn't even there on the only thing about it and I'll send

the document a bit of paper he'd written on so my June scum date and I said to

him ball can you explain if you weren't there how come he's got your handwriting

with you know him the dress on and he tried to make out all that's because I

know him any was going to come into my house do some painting or some rubbish

get them yeah get them to write down their details it proves one they over

there and he also proves secondly that those are the details I gave you you

could write it down a name say oh no I didn't sign number ten or

said number 20 you must have misheard me and are trying to fake it so get them to

ride the details own never ride and Diaoyu so you write down your details

they have all known their details don't just listen to other sign and write it

down now if you've crushed into another

vehicles you need to design for each vehicle if you're involved in a three or

four car pileup each person needs to give their details well if you've

crashed into a parked car we need to make a know the details it's a good idea

to leave your details on a paper underneath their windscreen wiper just

put a note saying you know this vehicles involved in accident these are Mardis

house this is mine Shira and then they can contact you if you've injured any or

hun injured if you've damaged any way called street furniture not benches

lamppost it's a good idea to call the council and tell them you don't always

have to you know if you saw could it all scratched on the lung person something

if you've caused serious damage to a bus stop for example you need to contact the

owner of that property and tell them otherwise you could end up in more

trouble because you haven't told them now so far that's what should do let's

have a look what you shouldn't do never ever admit fault for the crush the

reason for this is you don't know if it's your fault or not now let's look at

this scenario for example you're driving down the road

it's just sorry you know you're going a little bit over the speed limit

eating 33 in a third zone a car pulls out from the left and you crash into

them and you get out sunl sorry sorry I was going to see fast

that's my fault and the other drivers thinking what a mug I was on my phone I

didn't even sting coming down the road and he's just emitted it's his fault

don't be like that don't ever admit fault don't say sorry because saying

sorry is our way of admitting fault all you need to do is exchange details leave

the scene you be very cold and calculated don't saw get into arguments

don't start saying it's falsities don't start saying you're injured

now the reason so don't start saying you're injured is in many injuries

actually don't appear dull hours or sometimes even days later when you get

these people who are involved in a car crash and the start sign or me neck

in a corpsman exerting I've had a wee plush and he didn't start four hours

till after the crash so people start saying that they're injured maybe they

are but they often you don't feel injuries till later on so if you run

your phone you insurers to report the accident don't tell them you injured

unless you are of course tell them you are injured but don't make out you

injured if you're not don't try my money from conversation because if you do that

but you couldn't evaluate your whole claim unless you are I call of course

actually injured don't try and make some money for me because unfortunately

nowadays people involved in car crashes one of the first things people think is

all great money or get thousands conversation it isn't that easy you will

have to locate through medical medical examinations and it's not as easy as you

once so please don't go and try make money out of a bad situation after

you've been involved in the crash write down what happened Strada why why

because you're forgetting you might be surprised by this but within an hour of

a crash you start to died things when it happens you'll think why did i polite I

was clearly Stigler left they didn't see it and I would see lighter your mind

start playing stops to fight tricks on you and you'll think hold on was I

signaling do you know put it on did he wide me to go what did I imagine that

it's so easy to forget write it down as soon as you can but I done everything

you think I'll go even better get you come right and record it speaking to the

camera saying exactly what happened because believe me your mind apply

tricks on you and you'll start to die will actually happened

take it easy because a crash can have more of an effect on you than you think

maybe sad the rest of the day off work if you were going to go out somewhere

maybe don't go out somewhere it's surprising how much the car crash can

affect you and it's quite a comment if you to feel nothing at the time and a

few hours later your hands are shaking you start getting a pounding headache

stomach acts are very common you'll get horrible horrific stomach cramps and you

might need a day off work or off whatever you do so take it easy up to a

crush and give yourself a few days to recover even if it's fairly minor

the final thing I'll say for now is don't talk to the other persons in

shira's you're very often get a phone call from the other person's he/she was

a few days later or even a few hours later saying we understand you've been

involved in a crush we're really sorry it was our our persons full will give

you some money we'll settle it now that normally means that I know it's going to

be very expensive and I know that they were a fault

not the problem this is once you've set all the case if you accept money for

that case that's all yet you can't cabal later not

for more so they may offer you a thousand pounds anything with thousand

pounds I'll type that your car goes for garage and the side is three thousand

pounds of damage and you might be covered because you've already accepted

what they offered you before now in terms of going for Gary's getting it

fixed and all that you insurers will go through that with you so I'm not gonna

go over one now it's different for every company but most companies will arrange

feet secured to a garage of their choice I'm gonna prove to Peres you will

normally get a courtesy car but there's so many variations on that I'm not going

to go over them all so I hope you found that video helpful it is really useful

to know what to do at the scene of a crash and if you have nobody watch them

have a look at the videos I've done where you can watch me being involved in

a crash myself and have a look at what I did

I've been looking well actually happened and you'll see me following these pieces

of advice myself so thanks for watching remember those points I've told you and

you shouldn't have too much trouble if you are lucky enough to be involved in a

car crash
