Look we're not asking you to storm beaches in Normandy, we're not ask you to

go on freedom rides, we're not actually asking you to die for voting rights

we're just asking you to go out and vote. Hi I'm Senator Cory Booker let's

Sip 'n Skimm. I was born in Washington DC, moved to New Jersey when I was just a

few months old, high school football All-American, president of my class, off

to Stanford University where I did an undergraduate master's degree. I was

fortunate to get a Rhodes Scholarship to study at Oxford University, I came back

to Yale Law School and my last year at Yale Law School or so, I moved to Newark,

New Jersey first upsetting becoming the youngest person ever elected as a city

councilperson in Newark, New Jersey and then eventually I became the mayor of

the city eventually though, after two terms or almost completing full two full

terms, I got elected to be a United States Senator and have been here since

Halloween was my swearing-in Day 2013. Common sense gun safety laws I mean 84%

of NRA members believe we should have common-sense background checks.

Right now if you're in America and you are in the terrorist no-fly list, we

suspect you of being a terrorist, you can go to a gun show and fill up a trunk

full of weapons by doing a private sale. That is crazy

gun owners, Republicans, disagree with that, but we can't pass those laws down

here in Washington because there are people heavily influenced by gun

manufacturers who have drain money down, who are preventing a lot of these

things from happening. Pay attention to your top elections, those

are dealing with the now, but choosing the future of our country really is

going out and voting for those local elections and a lot of times those local

leaders have a lot more to say about your everyday lives than the top-line

elections. It chills me when people go in and vote and literally there are

millions of people who will go in and vote for a president or the top of the ticket

and not carry down to all the other positions and that creates so many

consequences for our country and one is some local elections like: Who's your

state legislature? You may not realize that but Congress is

controlled by state legislators because they decide how congressional lines are

drawn. The power of the people is greater than the people in power.

That's how we got civil rights, it's how we got women's rights, that's how we got

the workers rights' we take for granted right now that are being eroded under

this administration because people stood up and said we were gonna do this and if

not they'll be consequences.

Dominic Thiem can leapfrog Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal - Marko Arnautovic - Duration: 2:43.

Dominic Thiem can leapfrog Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal - Marko Arnautovic

Thiem is widely expected to be Nadal's heir on clay after impressing with some top performances at the French Open - including reaching the final this season, where he lost to the Spaniard.

The Austrian is currently gearing up for the US Open by playing at the Citi Open in Washington this week.

And ahead of his match with Martin Klizan tonight, Thiem invited Arnautovic and a couple of his West Ham United team-mates - Antonio Valencia and Adrian - to come along to his practice.

Following the session, Arnautovic was impressed by his fellow countryman and even tipped him to one day rule the world.

"Dominic has done a great job and he is still young," Arnautovic said.

"He's done a lot of good things and is now in the top ten in the world.

"He's a very good player but he's still got a long way to go because he's young and I think, if he keeps working hard, hopefully he's going to be the top one.

"It's not normal that we can do this because Dominic has a game tonight and he's come out with his partner to play football and enjoy some time.

"Now it's time for him to go back, concentrate, take a rest and beat this guy up!".

Meanwhile, Thiem was equally as impressed with Arnautovic, who is hoping for another strong season with the Hammers this term.

"I'm a huge football fan and it was great to finally meet Marko," said Thiem.

"I would love to go and train with the team! It was really nice to play together.

"I hope you guys had a really good preparation in Austria and you have a great start the season.

"For us, it's a big honour to play football with these big stars.

Digital Fellowship: How social media can help you grow your church - Duration: 3:11.

music

JUSTIN: Social media is one of the more important ways

to get your message out into the world.

But it's more than just

an announcement system or a bulletin board.

Social media is a way of storytelling and weaving

a narrative about your church and your community.

Some of the things that you can do with social media as a church

is talk about your community members,

interview them, see their lives,

see how they interact with one another,

talk about the activities that they're holding in the church,

talk about all of the good things that

you're doing as a church organization,

whether you're feeding the hungry, having a church picnic

or running vacation Bible school.

All of these things come together to paint a picture of

what your church is, who you are and what you're all about.

You should be participating in as many social networks as you

can based on the target demographics that you have.

You might be trying to reach the youth in your community.

If so, you should consider platforms like Instagram,

Snapchat and Facebook.

If you're trying to reach a more adult crowd

you might try things like Facebook Groups,

LinkedIn Groups, or Twitter.

You could also use an amalgamation of all of these

networks to reach as far ranging as possible.

If you're into interactive media you can create

compelling stories using platforms like YouTube

and live streaming video is one of the

most popular forms of media today.

Trying experimenting with things like Facebook Live,

YouTube Live and Twitch.tv.

All of these allow you to give a behind the scenes look

of what's going on in your community, whether that's

the service itself, an event that's happening

in a local school, or something like a food drive,

a charity auction, or anything else that might give

a little bit of an idea as to the good outreach things

that you're doing inside of the community as a whole.

Social media is a lot more than just a mouthpiece for

announcing what you had for breakfast or where you're

going to be doing a certain thing at a certain time.

It's about making sure that everybody

understands your message.

Again, we want to go beyond the physical doors of our church

and reach out into the sanctuary of the digital world.

So, if you haven't gotten started with social media yet,

now is the time to start.

And we've got lots of tools to help you do that right here.

So we hope you'll join us as we get started

with this digital fellowship initiative.

How can I witness to my friends who say they're Christians but their actions say otherwise? - Duration: 3:49.

Horton: Well, I think it's hard to know exactly what to say.

That's a very large and difficult problem.

I would say the best way into it for someone who isn't privy to the specifics is to press

them on whether they belong to a local church, because if they are professing member of a

local church, then they're accountable to that body.

And, you obviously can't discipline them as a fellow student.

You can encourage and rebuke and so forth, but really, it's given especially into the

hands of the elders to do that, and in an official way.

And so I think the first question I would have is, if you claim to be a Christian, are

you a member in good standing of a church?

Thomas: Well, you know, the problem of nominal Christianity isn't, of course, exclusive

to a college setting.

There ought to be something about being a Christian that should be attractive and infectious,

and perhaps one of the best ways to witness to nominal Christianity — those who may

say they're Christians but their actions don't match up to their words — is to

demonstrate just how beautiful and infectious a thing Christianity is.

It would be, I mean, it's just a broad question that there are a whole variety of scenarios

one can imagine a conversation with a nominal Christian taking place, but the measure of

freedom and joy with which you can speak about knowing Christ and having a relationship with

your Heavenly Father through the atoning sacrifice of Christ, that has to have some trajectory

by which you witness to the emptiness of what effectively nominal Christianity is.

Godfrey: I heard the question as if it were being asked of fellow students that the questioner

knew well.

Now, maybe I'm reading too much into it.

And, so I think what Derek said is certainly a place to start.

But I would think with a fellow student that you know well who's a friend, who professes

to be some kind of a Christian, there would be a point to say, "You know, Christians

just don't do that."

And, then invite a follow up conversation in light of that.

Obviously all of us as Christians do things that we know we ought not to have done, and

maybe that's a point to make as well, but I do think that maybe with someone with whom

hopefully one already has some credibility as a practicing Christian to press, is this

really a behavior, an attitude, that a Christian ought to have.

Maybe we can look in the Bible together about that and follow up that way.

"I Can Hear, And It's Wonderful"—Stories Of Overcoming Hearing Loss - Duration: 3:18.

- [Susan] I've been dealing with hearing loss for 15 years.

- [Sue] 28 years.

- Most of my adult life was deaf.

- And it got to a point where I couldn't even tell

what music was playing.

- The hearing aids worked great when you first get them.

When you have no sound and then you get a hearing aid,

you think it's wonderful.

- They had to be turned up, they had to be adjusted.

I was losing more and more hearing.

- I started avoiding the phone.

- The phone was not my friend.

- [Gay] I could tell that I was not hearing

the complete conversation.

- [Jeff] And the embarrassing part is when you start responding

to questions or conversations that are out of context.

- You become withdrawn

and people are getting angry with you

and they withdraw from you

as much as you withdraw from them.

- I was a wallflower.

- [Doyle] My fallback was always my wife.

Without me being able to hear her,

I don't know what I would've done.

- When your work and your livelihood is

in jeopardy, that's your wake-up call.

- That was my wake-up call.

- That was my wake-up call.

- That was my wake-up call.

- That was my wake-up call.

- [Sue] And then you learn that

a Cochlear Implant

could change that.

- I said, well I'm going for it

'cause we were getting ready to have more grandchildren.

I want to hear these boys.

I want to be able to drive them around.

I want to be able to enjoy their activities.

- I definitely wish I would have had my Cochlear Implant done

you know, 20 years ago.

I think it would've made a big difference on my life.

I wish I wouldn't have been afraid.

- Life is so much better after my Cochlear Implant.

Better than I ever anticipated.

- It's a new life,

because my hearing's back.

It's regained (chuckles).

- [Lil] Not only to participate at family gatherings

and understand my grandkids,

but also to again work with children

and help them learn how to read.

That was my life dream.

- I now go to parties.

I now participate in conversations.

I go to the movies.

I go to the theater.

I go to the concerts.

- I will volunteer to do stuff now,

where before I wouldn't.

- I got my Cochlear Implant

and my grandchildren are back in my life. (laughs)

- I hugged someone and they whispered, I love you.

And I hadn't heard that since I was a kid.

- If you're in this position, do it.

It's your wake-up call.

- You will never regret it.

- [Bob] I can hear.

It's wonderful.

Meet MarCO - Engineer Builds Mars Spacecraft That Can Fit in Your Backpack - Duration: 1:00.

I just love what I do and I love talking to people about it and getting everyone

as excited as I am about these things that are flying in space for the first time.

My name is Anne Marinan and I fly the first interplanetary mission that will

fit in your backpack. I am officially a systems engineer at JPL and on the

MarCO mission. MarCO is the first interplanetary mission for these kind of

satellites we call CubeSats: small satellites about the size of a

family-size cereal box. We have a little pocket-sized

model of MarCO. It's a great visual tool for the team to use and understand

what's happening with the spacecraft. With InSight one of the things we hope

to demonstrate with MarCO is communications relay capability that

we're working on verifying and if we can demonstrate this it has huge

implications for other missions landing on Mars or other planets.

We're optimistic that it will get to Mars and fulfill that mission but it is a

technology demonstration and there's still a long way to go. One of my

favorite parts about working on MarCO is the team dynamic.

We couldn't have done that without every person on the team,

which is a very special thing to be a part of.

The U.S. Can Be A Dangerous Place to Give Birth - Duration: 4:05.

Giving birth in the United States can be dangerous. In

fact-- a newly released USA Today investigation found it's

the most dangerous place in the developed world to give birth.

While other developed countries have experienced declines in

maternal deaths over the last 25 years-- the United States has

seen a drastic increase. Though the majority of women give birth

safely-- approximately 700 women across the U.S. die each year as

a result of pregnancy or pregnancy-related complications.

Obstetrician Gynecologists like Dr. Barbara Levy say many of

these deaths are preventable with correct prenatal care

through a specialist. Levy: There are primary care

physicians who have training, most don't. There are a lot

changes that happen to our bodies during pregnancy. It

takesa little bit of special training to understand. Women

typically see their OB-GYN about once a month at the beginning of

pregnancy-- and those visits only get more frequent as the

pregnancy progresses. Levy: You don't wanna scare people with

the bad things that can happen but bad things do happen and we

want to be prepared. But regular visits to a maternal care

physician can be a struggle to women in rural communities. The

American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists

says one million babies are born to mothers who did not receive

adequate prenatal care every year. In Wisconsin alone-- a

third of women don't have access to a specialist. Baldwin: 26 of

72 countries don't have an OBGYN working in that community. You

have to travel great distances, sometimes people forego care

they need. I can't tell you how many stories i've heard of women

in labor driving an hour and a half to give birth. These are

not good circumstances. (:36) With 2,340,007 women in

Wisconsin and only 556 OBGYNs--Senator Tammy Baldwin

says there isn't enough care to go around. She wants the

National Health Service Corps to specifically target maternity

care resources to lacking communities. Baldwin: This is

right now generalized review which areas are underserved but

it doesn't look at maternity care. To improve outcomes in the

united states we've really got to look at the whole both

prenatal and postnatal care and delivery. Her bill--

co-sponsored by Republican Senator Lisa Murkowski of

Alaska-- would direct the NHSC to do just that. Both the

Senators and Dr. Levy agree negative outcomes could be

prevented with more access. Baldwin: All of those things--

there can be an intervention that reduces the chance or

mortality or underweight birth. Dr. Levy says there needs to be

a system to put doctors in these underserved communities while

also supporting their careers. Levy: If there's a place where

there's not a lot of pregnant women, trying to maintain a

practice is challenging. Many of them have closed hospitals that

do OB care bc maternity care doesn't pay well for the

hospital and keeping a workforce of nurses who are trained to

manage labor is really tough. How do they keep up their skills

if their volume is really low? They need to be in a place where

they know how to respond quickly in an emergency and if they're

only doing one delivery a day they may never see that

emergency for a year. We need them to be practiced. Both Dr.

Levy and Senator Baldwin say they're disappointed at the

disparity between the United States and other countries.

Levy:if you live at home in a system like great britain theres

a set of guidelines you get transferred to the hospital

that's great. If you're in rural US and it would take you 2 hours

to get to the hospital that could cost a mother her life a

baby a life or lifelong disability. Baldwin: you compare

our rates to other industrialized countries where

they guarantee everyone healthcare-- it's kind of

shocking to see how far behind we are in many of those cases.

With the Centers for Disease Control estimating 60 percent of

pregnancy related deaths each year are preventable-- the

Senators are eager to make progress in protecting mothers

-- and they say this bill is a good start. Tag: The bill has

not yet been passed out of committee in the Senate. The

House passed a companion bill in January 2017.

Liverpool transfer news: Can Reds now defy Man Utd and City? Pundit prediction - Duration: 2:12.

Liverpool have spent over £170million on new signings this summer, including the arrival of Naby Keita who agreed to join last year

The Reds have splashed out the most expensive fee ever for a goalkeeper, following the record fee for a defender they paid in January for Virgil van Dijk

They are the second favourites with the bookies to win the Premier League title this season, an opinion Hislop echoes

The former West Ham goalkeeper claims current Liverpool players would now not want to leave for fellow clubs in England

But he says it may be an issue if the likes of Real Madrid or Barcelona come in for one of their stars

"It depends on who that offer comes from," Hislop said. "I think that Liverpool are now in a position that if that offer was to come from another Premier League club, regardless if it was Manchester United or Manchester City or somebody who can really stump up the cash to turn heads in the Liverpool boardroom, I think they can turn that down

"I think players feel that this is a club now positioned to challenge at the highest levels of the Premier League

"If that bid were to come in, there would be no real reason to leave for pastures new

"I still feel that if that club was a Real Madrid or Barcelona, never mind the finances turning heads in the boardroom, just as a player and given the status and stature of those Spanish clubs, how would you say no? "I still think that peaks an interest as a player

" Barcelona signed Philippe Coutinho from Liverpool in January for a staggering £146m

How Can Philanthropy Do More Good? Aaron Dorfman, National Committee for Responsive Philanthropy - Duration: 4:31.

(inspirational music)

- Surprisingly, a lot less philanthropic money

is intentionally going to benefit underserved

and marginalized communities than you would think.

The average person just thinks, well, of course,

philanthropy, that's about helping the poor,

but in fact, it's a pretty small percentage

of philanthropic dollars,

about one out of every three dollars is intended,

or can be coded as intended to benefit underserved

or marginalized communities,

and that's a very broad definition.

That can be low income communities,

communities of color, women and girls,

LGBT communities, people with disabilities, the elderly.

I mean, it's really a very broad definition,

and even when you use that, it's a small percentage

of philanthropic dollars.

We try to challenge and inspire

and provoke good conversations in philanthropy.

We're known as the watchdog of the philanthropic sector.

Before I took over 11 years ago,

we were know as the critic of philanthropy,

and now there's a slight twist on that.

It's more of a critical friend to philanthropy,

pushing and challenging the sector.

So we produce original research that says, you know what?

You're not doing as well as you think you are,

and people will sometimes get shocked the data

that we put forward.

But also, trying to sort of organize conversations

behind the scenes, between a funder who's doing it well,

and one who could really learn from them,

and we try to put people together

so that they can move forward.

There's a lot of unjustified fear

on the part of some foundations,

that what's it going to do to our reputation

if we fund these kinds of groups?

Oh, I'm cozy with the mayor or the school board

or whatever, and if we fund the grassroots groups,

that could get in, those relationships could get in trouble

so those are some of the barriers that see,

but look, the reason to do it absolutely clear.

If you're a donor, and you're serious

about making a difference on the issues,

you've got to be involved in changing systems,

changing public policy and influencing that.

Government spending dwarfs philanthropic spending

on every single issue.

In education alone, it's like over 3000 to one,

and education is the most popular thing

that foundations and high net worth donors fund.

Huge amounts of philanthropic money going to that.

Even, in spite of all the philanthropic money

going into education, if you add up the public spending,

it's 3000 to one.

So you can't possibly have influence on all these issues

if you're not changing or influencing government policy.

That's the reason to do it.

You want to leverage your limited dollars

to make the most difference possible.

And I think a lot of foundation folks learn this

and realize this as they gain some experience over time.

It's not hyperbole to say that our democracy

is under siege, right now.

The current occupant of the White House

is really attacking huge swaths of our population.

He's attacking immigrants, women, African Americans,

and dividing our nation,

and philanthropy has an obligation to step forward

and fund the resistance, and be a part of moving money

to groups that can stand up for fairness and equality

and really build the people power necessary

to ensure that our country

doesn't go down the road to fascism.
