Youtube daily google Sep 4 2018

how many times do we say google it when

we don't find the answers we are looking for.

People believe that if something

doesn't exist on Google it doesn't exist at all.

today almost everyone uses Google

from its search engine and YouTube to

the Android smartphones that use them.

apart from being a massively successful

company Google has its own simple style

of keeping itself apart from the crowd.

google has always done things a little

bit differently and that works to keep

things fresh, immersive and consistently progressive.

it has collected digitized

arranged and presented more information

than any company in history.

today it has a market value of 739 billion US dollars

Google's revenue amounted to one hundred

and nine point six five billion US

dollars in 2017 which is more than

combined revenue of Disney and Facebook

according to Fortune 500 list.

let's dive deeper into how big it is and how

it all began. the story of Google begins

in 1995 at Stanford University.

Larry Page and Sergey Brin met at Stanford

when Brin was asked to show page who was

a new student around the school. by some

accounts they disagreed about nearly

everything during that first meeting but

by the following year they struck a

partnership. working from their dorm

rooms they built a search engine that

used PageRank algorithm to determine the

importance of individual pages on the

World Wide Web. their mission was to

organize the world's information and

make it universally accessible and

useful. they called this search engine

back rub. Larry and Sergey later decided

the name of their search engine needed

to change and decided upon Google which

is inspired from the term

Googol which means one with a hundred

zeros following it. in August 1998 sun

co-founder Andy Bechtolsheim wrote Larry

and Sergey a check for a hundred

thousand and Google Inc was officially

born. with this investment the newly

incorporated team made the upgrade from

the dorms to their first office a garage

in suburban Menlo Park California owned

by Susan Wojcicki who was the

sixteenth employee of Google and now CEO

of YouTube. the picture shown here is a

capture of the site from the Internet

Archive of what Google looked like in

1998. in February 1999 Google got its

first real office in Palo Alto

California. later in the year they moved

to Mountain View California. in July 2001

Google Images launched with 250 million

searchable images. after that in August

2001 Eric Schmidt becomes CEO while page

became president of products and Brin

became president of Technology. the early

days of Google were not super glamorous

Schmidt told LinkedIn co-founder Reed

Hoffman

during an interview that the former CEOs

first office at the company was an 8 by

12 foot space that he shared with the

companies then VP of engineering Amit

Singhal. an interesting thing to know is

that since the founders Larry and Sergey

weren't looking to start their own

business, they tried to sell their search

engine system to Yahoo. Yahoo originally

said no but in 2002 offered to buy

Google for 3 billion but this time

Google said no. later in the year 2003

Google acquired pyra Labs creators of

blogger. after that in March 2004 Google

moved its headquarters in to the

Googleplex Mountain View California.

in the same year Gmail launched on April

Fool's Day despite it being a real email service.

in the years that followed the company

expanded rapidly hiring engineers

building a sales team and much more.

the spirit of doing things differently made the move.

we encourage our employees to

spend 20% of their time working on

whatever they're interested in not what

their boss wants them to work on. out of

that most of our great new products have come.

in August 19 2004 Google conducted

an initial public offering on NASDAQ the

offering raised about 1.2 billion for

the company. when it went public Google

was valued as much as General Motors.

later in February 2005 Google Maps

launched. in the same year they also

released Google Earth allowing users to

view satellite imagery of any place in

the world.

in October 2006 Google acquired YouTube

for 1.65 billion and launched Google

Docs- an online application for creating

documents. after that in November 2007

Google launched Android OS an

open-source mobile device platform.

later in September 2008 the g1 the first

Android phone was unveiled by t-mobile (htc)

in the same year in September second

Google Chrome was launched. after that in

April 4th 2011 page resumed CEO title

after ten years away while Schmidt

became executive chairman on April 4th

2012 Google unveils Project Glass an

initiative to develop a wearable device

the device later debuts as Google glass.

in August 10th 2015 google announces a

corporate restructuring forming an

umbrella company called alphabet and

naming sundar pichai as the new CEO to

the core business of Google. co-founders

page and Brin will run alphabet with

page as CEO and brain as president.

In october 2nd 2015 the company announces

that its restructuring will happen at

the end of the day, alphabet will become

the parent company of separate smaller

companies one of which is Google.

today with more than 85,000 plus

employees in 50 different countries

Google currently owns more than 250 plus

companies which includes nest labs

deepmind

AdMob and Motorola. an interesting thing

to know is Google's acquiring on an

average one company every week.

the relentless search for better answers

continues to be at the core of

everything Google does. in 2017 Google

earned one of the highest tech company

revenues with roughly 110 billion u.s.

dollars. the advertising revenue was

ninety five point four billion dollars

which is more than combined prime-time

advertising revenues of Fox ABC, NBC and

CBS. as of May 2018 search market leader

Google had a market value of 739 billion

US dollars. despite the vast scope of

Google products the company still

collects the majority of its revenue

through online advertising on Google

Sites and Google Network websites.

google is the undisputed champion when

it comes to discovering risks associated

with their core business and

neutralizing them either by acquisition

or their own development or both.

for example different browsers could block

you from searching on Google com or make

it more difficult to overcome that they

created their own web browser and made

it fast reliable and user-friendly. their

browser now accounts for 60 to 70%

market share in 2017. a second example

Google realized that smartphones are

changing our lives so they acquired

Android inx for 50 million US dollars

early on in 2005. a third example AI and

smarthome is another rising trend

with the potential to change our lives

forever

so they created Google assistant and

smart home concept. they made Google

assistant available for everyone to

implement. it starts with phones and TVs

and will continue to roll out to your

car, fridge, oven, toaster, light bulbs

speakers whatever you can name that's

technologically related.

as such a powerful and ubiquitous company

Google's influence cannot be denied. through web

searches and the usage of its products

Google is able to track the global arms

trade, the spread of disease, censorship

and local crisis successfully. a study

performed shows that a political

candidates ranking and search results

could affect an undecided voters

opinions. with such great power

supposedly comes great responsibility

if information is power in the digital

age then Google has a fair claim to

being the most powerful company in the

world.

Why compounding blog posts will get Google to love your website! - Duration: 2:53.

Today's topic is about compounding blog posts!

[music]

A compounding blog posts is the type of

content that increases in value over time.

So this means that for example if

you publish a compounding post

today, in six months time you're going to

get more organic traffic coming to it.

Compounding is associated with evergreen content.

This means that people would find it

useful and they will share with more people and

more and more people are going to be

attracted to this blog post and it's

gonna rank better on Google as well and

you're gonna get more traffic. So many

people make the mistake of saying, okay

the latest study says blah blah blah or

something that's written about something that

is happening in the news. When you write

about topics that's news

that's news related or

something that's related to something

that's sort of like a passing phase. So what

this happens means, over time maybe

another new study would overwrite the

previous findings or let's say another

news supersede the news so the news

value of something goes down all the

time unless it becomes a fact. So when

you create compounding blog posts,

examples could be like how to do

something or the best way to do this, four

top tips that you can become fitter and

healthier. So when you create posts like

this, this will increase the value over

time whereas when you create news

related topics what happens is the value

goes down. So today it could be in the

headlines because you know it's something

that everybody's very excited about but

tomorrow or six months later

that's old news! No one will be

interested in that so you don't want

that to happen.

Creating one compounding blog post is

equivalent to publishing six (news-based) blog posts.

So if you want to get more value out

from your content and you want to get

more traffic Google traffic over time, aim for creating compounding

blog posts so you continuously get more

and more traffic over time. So what do

you think about creating compounding

blog posts? Do you create compounding

blog posts?

Google Maps expert claims he's found MH370 plane 'in darkest part of jungle' - Daily News - Duration: 2:39.

</form> A tech expert from the UK claims he has spotted the doomed MH370 plane on Google Maps

Ian Wilson believes remains of the missing Malaysia Airlines plane, which vanished carrying 239 people en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing , lie strewn deep in a jungle in Cambodia

The video producer now plans to visit the dense terrain to prove his chilling theory

He said: "Measuring the Google sighting, you're looking at around 69 metres, but there looks to be a gap between the tail and the back of the plane

"It's just slightly bigger, but there's a gap that would probably account for that

"  The ill-fated plane flight took off from the Malaysian capital on March 8, 2014, with 227 passengers on board and 12 crew

But it disappeared during a handover between Malaysian and Vietnamese air-traffic controllers with the transponder shut down

Mr Wilson told Daily Star Online : "I was on there [Google Earth], a few hours here, a few hours there

If you added it up I spent hours searching for places a plane could have gone down

Read More Flight MH370 mystery  "And in the end, as you can see the place where the plane is

It is literally the greenest, darkest part you can see."  Investigators have worked extensively since the plane vanished

However, despite releasing a 1,500-page report , they admitted they still cannot say what happened

And the Bureau of Aircraft Investigations Archives said they could not rule out the Google Maps sighting – dating 2018 on Google Earth – being MH370

How to Submit Your Website to Search Engines Like Google, Bing and Yahoo (2018 Tutorial) - Duration: 4:04.

In this video, I'm going to show you how to submit your website to Google, Bing and

Yahoo.

Stay tuned.

[music]

Hey guys, it's Joshua Hardwick here with Ahrefs and today, I have a website that I

want to submit to all of the major search engines.

That's Google, Bing and Yahoo.

I know it's not already indexed in any of those search engines because I did a "site"

search in both Google and Bing, and they each returned no results.

And because Yahoo pulls results from Bing, I also know that it's not indexed there.

So let's start with Google.

Now, until recently, the easiest way to submit a website or a webpage to Google was via their

URL submission tool.

You entered the URL, hit submit, and that was it.

But Google discontinued this tool in twenty-eighteen, so now the only way to submit a website is

by adding a sitemap in Google Search Console.

So first things first, you need to verify ownership of the website you want to submit

via Search Console.

I've already done that for this site.

If you haven't done that for yours, check out the full blog post at

ahrefs.com/blog/submit-website-to-search-engines,

where you'll find a link to a tutorial showing you how to do it.

You also need to create a sitemap, which again, I've already done, and uploaded to the root

folder on this domain.

So now, all I need to do is head to the sitemaps section in Search Console, enter my sitemap

URL, and hit submit.

And that's it.

The website is now submitted to Google.

It's worth noting that I'm using the new version of Search Console here.

If you're still with the old one, you can find the same sitemaps section under the Crawl

heading on left-hand menu.

From thereon, the process is the same.

But what if you just want to submit, or resubmit, a single webpage to Google?

For that, you can use the Fetch as Google tool which is located under that same subheader.

Here you just need to enter the URL of the webpage you want to submit, hit "Fetch"

and then click the "Request indexing" button.

You'll then see a modal window like this.

Confirm you're not a robot, hit the "crawl this URL only" checkbox, hit "go," and

you're done.

This is a super inefficient way to submit lots of pages or an entire website to Google.

If that's what you're trying to do, use the sitemap option instead.

Now let's move on to Bing.

Unlike Google, Bing still has a public URL submission tool, which you can find at

bing.com/toolbox/submit-site-url.

Here you can submit any website in seconds.

Just enter the homepage URL, fill in the captcha and hit "submit."

But still, a much better option is to submit your sitemap via Bing webmaster tools, which

you can do at bing.com/webmaster/home/addsite.

You'll be asked for your homepage and sitemap URLs, along with a few other bits of information

about you and your website.

Once you've filled in the form, hit submit and you're done.

As I mentioned earlier, Yahoo pulls results from Bing so submission to Bing, results in

automatic submission to Yahoo.

Finally, if you want to check the index status of a particular website or webpage, go to

Google or Bing and type the "site" operator followed by the URL or root domain you want

to check.

If a result is returned, the website or webpage is indexed.

If not, there may be an issue.

You can learn more about the causes of these issues, how to fix them, and why submitting

your website to search engines won't necessary result in a consistent stream of traffic to

your website in the full blog post at ahrefs.com/blog/submit-website-to-search-engines.

Using Google Scholar - Duration: 2:27.

Google Scholar is a search tool that collects millions of citations from universities all over the world and tries to match them with

Openly available versions of those articles.

Those articles may come from places like

Professors' webpages, or they may be from open access journals, or maybe just from journals' archives.

So one of the key advantages of using Google Scholar is that you can communicate in

typical search language. So you could search for something like: College and Stress, and

See what you find.

In my example search I found four million results.

However, many of them - if you look in the list- will not be available in full-text.

Anything that has a white space in this far column indicates that the article could not be found online.

If you do find sources that have a file type listed in that same far column,

that indicates that an article was found, at least at some point in time.

So if you click on one of those links,

ideally it should open the source and you'll have a perfectly good Journal article to use.

Now, another way you can use Google Scholar is to

try to match our

Databases from the library with Google Scholar, and use their search interface to help us decide where to start looking.

So in your Google settings- this hamburger menu -

What you want to do is set your

settings

Along with these library links. And when you click on the library links option, you can type in your institution's name.

When you search, it will give you all of these different options.

Now when you set them, and save them,

It will take you back to your search,

and you'll see many more possible articles that are available through our

Databases - which opens up the pool of information quite a lot!

How to download class handouts into your Google Drive - Duration: 2:55.

Greetings Class, I am going to show you a tip on accessing

my documents that I have for you in Google Drive.

I've been getting some email about how to do that, so this is a short clip on how to

how to do just that.

For example, we have the real schedule time management assignment.

So when you click on this assignment, it will take you to the instructions and when you

read through the instructions you will see that you have two options to access the document

that you need.

You have the pdf option, and this option will not always be available to you so throughout

the semester you will always have the google doc option and I want you to understand how

to use that.

So, when you click on the Google Doc Link, it should redirect you to this page here.

Now, you will see that you have the view only option.

This is because, this assignment document is already in my google drive and if you were

to edit it it would show up across all five sections of my class and that is not what

we want.

What you want is to go to file and you can go to download as and go to Microsoft Word

or PDF and you can download it onto your own computer in those two programs and you can

edit it that way.

You can also print it and be able to scan and upload as well.

So those are your three options there, download as Word or pdf, or print.

Now the other option is to add it to your drive.

So in order to add it to your drive you simply have to be logged onto google drive already.

So that means that add to my drive won't show up if you are not logged into your google

account.

So do that first, and then you are able to click on Add To My Drive.

When you click on add to my drive it should show up in your google drive, so there is

the assignment, Real Schedule Time Management.

Now, the last step once you are in your drive is to make a copy under File.

Once you make a copy it's going to ask you to rename it, and you can of course organize

it, then you click ok.

Then it will show up as whatever you renamed it as in your google drive and that is the

document that you are able to type into and you can do it all electronically and then

submit the pdf from your google drive, by going to File, Download As, PDF, and then

you can upload it to Canvas.

Let me know if you have any questions about this or if any of the links aren't working,

I'll be more than happy to check on that and make sure that everything is working correctly

for you.

That's it for today.

I'll talk to you later.

Bye
