U.S. raid in Yemen authorized by Trump U.S. military official
A U.S. special forces raid on al Qaeda headquarters in Yemen was authorized by President Donald
Trump and was aimed at gathering intelligence about the militant group, a U.S. military
official said on Sunday.
The official said American elite forces did not seize any militants or take any prisoners
off-site after Saturday's raid, which the Pentagon said killed 14 members of Al Qaeda
in the Arabian Peninsula.
U.S. forces carrying out the raid came under fire.

Canada to offer temporary residency to travelers stranded by U.S January 29, 2017 - Duration: 3:01.
Canada to offer temporary residency to travelers stranded by U.S
Canada will offer temporary residency to any travelers stranded by U.S. President Donald
Trump's orders temporarily barring people from seven Muslim-majority countries, a senior
official said on Sunday.
Immigration Minister Ahmed Hussen told a news conference he did not know how many people
might be eligible but said only a small number of passengers trying to fly to the United
States from Canada had been denied boarding.
Trump's abrupt decision on Friday, which also affects refugees, left people around the world
uncertain of whether they would be allowed to enter the United States.
"Let me assure those who may be stranded in Canada that I will use my authority as minister
to provide them with temporary residency if they need it, as we have done so in the past,"
Hussen said.
The government of Liberal Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has so far refrained from criticizing
the United States, which takes 75 percent of all Canadian exports, preferring instead
to stress Canada is open to refugees.
The Canadian Council for Refugees called on Ottawa to pull put of its so-called Safe Third
Country agreement with the United States, under which Canada returns asylum seekers
crossing the U.S. border.
Such a move would be diplomatically insulting and Hussen said the pact would remain unchanged
for now.
Local and national politicians in Canada have already condemned Trump's ban.
On Sunday, the opposition New Democrats called for an emergency debate in the federal Parliament.
Earlier in the day, more than 200 Canadian technology company founders, executives and
investors called on Ottawa to immediately give temporary residency to those displaced
by Trump's order.
"Canadian tech companies understand the power of inclusion and diversity of thought, and
that talent and skill know no borders," the letter said.
Canada is eager to attract skilled tech workers from abroad while also retaining employees
and students who are often lured away by global companies.
More than 300,000 Canadians work in California's Silicon Valley.
Bob Vaez, the Iranian-born chief executive of tech firm Event Mobi, on Sunday canceled
plans to accept an industry award in Las Vegas.
Trump's move could push many event organizers to seek alternative locations for their events,
he said.
"Are they going to keep their conferences in the U.S., knowing that so many people are
going to be barred?" he said.
In November, Canada introduced new visa measures that would allow tech companies to quickly
recruit foreign talent.

Greatest Inaugural Address In U.S. History.
Trump Issues Earth-Shattering Ultimatum!
Elites Dont Know What To Do!
War Of The Titans Looms Large! BIN Headline
State of the Nation
President Donald J. Trumps inaugural speech today was like no other in the history of
the American Republic.
Truly, President Trump gave an oration the likes of which has never been heard in the
nations capital or any other capital.
His sincere and stirring speech no doubt was uttered from the depths of his soul, his heart
and his entire being.
Rarely are the elites ever forced to listen to such a scathing indictment of their negligent
lack of leadership and implicit criminality.
Slash & Burn
Trump slashed and burned all of the the main facilitators of whole bloody system,
on boh sides of the aisle.
Its not very often that the entire political establishment is forced to sit and listen
to their horrible performance report while the world community of nations watched and
listened.
Not only did the political elites receive the worst report card in history, but they
had to grin and bear it (and squirm a LOT), again, IN FRONT OF THE WHOLE WORLD.
Obama and Biden, Pelosi and Schumer, Clinton and Clinton, were all there listening to what
was essentially the greatest scolding of their lifetimes.
Trump thrashed them with his words of truth as he trashed their empty promises and politics
of betrayal.
Let is be known that Donald Trump began his term as the 45th president of the United States
of America in the best possible way.
He brought his wrecking ball to Inauguration Day and let it swing like a dousing rod, banging
every corrupt person in power and flawed institutional policy.
Washington, D.C. has never witnessed such a public flogging.
It was, at once, searing in its naked truth, dramatic in its potent delivery and determined
to hit its every mark.
The Donald pulled out every trump card in his deck and showed that he clearly has the
winning hand.
Jesus Christ and the moneychangers
Reminiscent of Christ chasing the moneychangers out of the temple in Jerusalem, Donald Trump
essentially told the criminal politicians to get out to get our of our house.
And, that if they do not get out of their own volition, they will be summarily chased
out and it aint gonna be pretty.
Even the stately buildings of Washington, D.C. set the backdrop similar to the imposing
Second Temple of Jerusalem.
Trump seemingly alone in his crusade, but really supported by millions of Trumpsters
around the country, entered their politically hallowed ground and tore up the turf with
one short but very powerful tirade of truth.
Its been said that President Trump wrote the inaugural speech himself pouring his populist
message into every word and punctuation.
Not only was it peppered with religious language and sentiment, it was uttered as if from the
mouth of The Almighty.
Its clear that Trump would never have delivered such an incisive message unless he felt he
had the backing of a Higher Power much greater than himself, and certainly greater than his
many formidable opponents.
Clearly Trump is cognizant that he is going head on against the entire U.S. political
and corporate establishment, as he is also threatening the status quo of the global power
structure.
In this very special mission he will require nothing short of the aid and support of the
Supreme Being.
Trump: Part Fire Monkey, Part Silverback Gorilla
Where do we go from here?
The bookies are already taking bets for the greatest fight of the millennium.
Actually, theres never been a war quite like this one.
Trumps address today made it clear that there will be NO compromise.
Hes not looking to meet anyone in the middle.
Already the talking heads have gone apoplectic about how the speech did nothing to bring
the nation together.
Trump knows that the divisions sewn by Obamas 2 catastrophic terms cannot ever be bridged.
He knows in his heart that the Obamanation needs to be knocked down with his wrecking
ball.
And so he will.
In the execution of this sacred mission, Trump has called upon his alpha male qualities and
type A personality characteristics.
He already walks the stage of Washington like the silverback gorilla no one wants to, or
knows how to, fight.
Of course, the same Trump previously assumed the profile of the Red Fire Monkey burning
down everything in sight during the campaign season and post-election transition.
In this way he took full advantage of the current Year of the Fire Monkey which officially
ends on January 27, 2017.
Intuitively Trump knows that it all comes down to timing.
If hes in the right place at the right time performing righteous actions for We the
People, he knows that nothing can stop him.
As long as he stays true to his core mission above all else, nothing can harm him.
He made crystal clear what his core mission is: to give the U.S. Federal Government back
to the American people.
And to take it from those who have stolen it.
In this specific regard, there is only room for one silverback in the jungle of Beltway
politics.
The truth be told, the earth-shaking repercussions of Donald Trumps historic inaugural are
so far-reaching and transformative that very few have yet to grasp their paradigm-shattering
import.
No one addresses the ruling elites like Trump just didEVER!
They know it; Trump knows it; and now We the People know it.
Once uttered, the new president cannot go back on his sacred vow.
The NWO cabal is fully aware of the profound implications of such a gauntlet thrown down
via this unequivocal presidential commitment to the American people.
TPTB now know that a declaration of war has just been issued, should they not stand down
in every way.
Trumps promise to give the government back to the people will eventually translate to
the complete dissolution of the treasonous C.I.A. and shutdown of the traitorous Mainstream
Media.
And these mark only the beginning of what will become a complete overhaul of the U.S.
Federal Government and upgrade of the U.S. Constitution.
Conclusion
Donald Trumps most zealous supporters, known as centipedes, affectionately (and playfully)
call him God Emperor.
They do this with no disrespect to The Almighty; rather, they see him as infallible in his
divine missionto Make America Great Again.
As long as President Trump stays true to his stated purpose and oath to the U.S. Constitution,
he will receive the loyal support of his legions of followers.
This is his only real insurance policy.
To his own Self be true.

Fred Korematsu Google Doodle - Duration: 2:41.
Today Google's US homepage is celebrating Fred T. Korematsu, a civil rights activist
and survivor of the internment of Japanese Americans during World War II.
January 30th, 2017 would have been his 98th birthday and is officially recognized as Fred
Korematsu Day in California, Hawaii, Virginia and Florida.
A son of Japanese immigrant parents, Korematsu was born and raised in Oakland, California.
After the U.S. entered WWII, he tried to enlist in the U.S. National Guard and Coast Guard,
but was turned away due to his ethnicity.
He was 22 years old and working as a foreman in his hometown when Executive Order 9066
was signed in 1942 by U.S President Franklin D. Roosevelt.
The order sent more than 115,000 people of Japanese descent living in the United States
to incarceration.
Rather than voluntarily relocate to an internment camp, Korematsu went into hiding.
He was arrested in 1942 and despite the help of organizations like ACLU, his conviction
was upheld in the landmark Supreme Court case of Korematsu v. United States.
Consequently, he and his family were sent to the the Central Utah War Relocation Center
at Topaz, Utah until the end of WWII in 1945.
It wasn't until 1976 that U.S President Gerald Ford formally ended Executive Order
9066 and apologized for the internment, stating "We now know what we should have known then
— not only was that evacuation wrong but Japanese-Americans were and are loyal Americans."
Fred Korematsu's conviction was overturned in 1983 after evidence came to light that
disputed the necessity of the internment.
Five years later U.S President Ronald Reagan signed the The Civil Liberties Act of 1988
citing "racial prejudice, wartime hysteria and a lack of political leadership" as the
central motivation for Japanese internment.
In 1998, U.S President Bill Clinton awarded Korematsu with the Presidential Medal of Freedom,
the U.S's most distinguished civilian award.
Fred Korematsu can be remembered fighting for civil rights and against prejudice throughout
his life, famously saying:
"If you have the feeling that something is wrong, don't be afraid to speak up."
The Fred T. Korematsu Institute was founded in 2009 to carry on Korematsu's legacy as
a civil rights advocate by educating and advocating for civil liberties for all communities.

Sudan summons U.S. charge d'affaires over Trump immigration order
Sudan summoned the U.S. charge d'affaires on Sunday to complain about an order by President
Donald Trump that temporarily bans the entry of its citizens to the United States.
The Sudanese foreign ministry said in a statement the decision sent a "negative message", coming
two weeks after the United States announced it would ease economic sanctions on Sudan.
It urged the United States to reconsider the decision.
Trump on Friday put a four-month hold on allowing refugees into the United States and temporarily
barred travelers from Syria and six other Muslim-majority countries including Sudan,
saying the moves would help protect Americans from terrorist attacks.

Canada's Trudeau welcomes refugees; U.S.-bound passengers turned away January 29, 2017 - Duration: 3:42.
Canada's Trudeau welcomes refugees; U.S.-bound passengers turned away
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau welcomed those fleeing war and persecution on Saturday even
as Canadian airlines said they would turn back U.S.-bound passengers to comply with
an immigration ban on people from seven Muslim-majority countries.
In pointed tweets a day after U.S. President Donald Trump put a four-month hold on allowing
refugees into the United States and temporarily barred travelers from the seven countries,
Trudeau said refugees were welcome in Canada.
"To those fleeing persecution, terror & war, Canadians will welcome you, regardless of
your faith.
Diversity is our strength #WelcomeToCanada," Trudeau said on Twitter.
A second tweet, also timed to coincide with outrage over Trump's immigration policy, included
a 2015 photo of Trudeau welcoming a Syrian refugee at a Canadian airport.
Confusion abounded at airports around the world on Saturday as officials tried to interpret
the new U.S. rules.
Trudeau's office said U.S. authorities had confirmed Canadian passport holders, including
dual citizens from the seven countries, would not be affected.
Trudeau has walked a fine line with the Trump administration, avoiding direct criticism
while promoting the progressive policies of his one-year-old Liberal government.
The prime minister would discuss Canada's immigration and refugee policies with Trump,
Trudeau's press secretary, Cameron Ahmad, said.
He did not say when that would be.
WestJet Airlines said it turned back a passenger bound for the United States on Saturday to
comply with Trump's executive order but did not say which country the passenger had come
from.
Spokeswoman Lauren Stewart said the airline would give full refunds to anyone affected.
In the western province of Saskatchewan, Iranian doctoral student Mohammadreza Tayfeh found
himself comforting the Delta Air Lines employee he called about a refund.
"I said, 'It's all right.
It's going to be fine.
Don't worry about it.'
She was so upset," he said in an interview from Saskatoon.
Tayfeh, an engineering student living in Canada for seven years, had been invited to San Diego
to meet with investors for his telecom business.
While he had a visitor's visa, he missed the cutoff to travel by hours.
He decided not to risk flying from Saskatchewan in case he was detained on arrival in the
United States.
He said an Iranian friend who has been living in the U.S. and working at NASA for years
was detained at the Doha airport in Qatar late Friday.
"You don't want to put yourself in that situation, to go there and they ask you questions and
just deport you," he said.
In Vancouver, an employee at the American Airlines counter said one person traveling
on an Iranian passport had been turned away Saturday morning.
Air Canada said it was complying with the order but did not comment on whether it had
denied anyone travel.
A Porter Airlines spokesman said the Toronto-based carrier will be restricting passengers from
traveling to the United States from the listed countries until further notice.

The meaning of HE WILL NOT DIVIDE US - A look at the "art" and memes of Shia LaBeouf - Duration: 6:23.
Hello Internet And Welcome To Behind The Meme!
Today we have a look at Shia Labeouf just do it!
Thank you so very much to all my wonderful viewers who left comments suggesting a video
on this topic.
Most of you suggested I cover the just do it meme associated with shia but there's
a whole lot more to talk about!
So lets get to it.
You guys wanted it now you have it!
Here We Go!!!
Shia LaBeouf.
Now I first became aware of shia back when he was named louis stevens on one of my favorite
shows as a kid called "even stevens".
Eventually he grew up to be an adult, starring in some movies that were…well… movies…I
guess?
Hey they may have not been oscar winners but the dude is doing more with life than I am
doing with mine.
I mean I had Top Ramen for lunch today and he more than likely didn't.
So theres No Hate here!
But we're not here to talk about movies or my pathetic life.
We are here to talk about shia's actions off screen.
You see he's been involved with some pretty strange things.
Shia lit the meme world on fire in 2015 when a video of him surfaced which was pretty intense…uhh
you know what?
intense is putting it lightly…
Let's go with Traumatizing with a dab of intense and side of fear.
yeah thats about right
just do it!
make your dreams come true! just do it!
The video is about a minute long and features shia intensely shouting words of motivation
and encouragement at the camera while in front of a green screen.
The original upload on youtube has over 23 million views as of early 2017!!
The clip was apparently a segment from a video collaboration with shia and a bunch of art
students….but we'll get back to that topic of so called art in just a bit…
Now Due to the bizarre and funny nature of the clip, as well as it being filmed in front
of a green screen which allows for easy editing.
It soon became a prime source for use within video parodies and memes. which Produced some
pretty funny edits.
oh my god is he out there again? just do it.
hey didn't i tell you yesterday that i would call the cops. yesterday you said tomorrow
so just do it.
how are you even getting up here?
thats an impossible climb.
Nothing is impossible! are you jumping down from the roof or something?
and of course we can't forget that time our buddy shia wore a paper bag on his head
at a film festival claiming to not be famous anymore he did it after he was accused of
plagiarizing another mans work and eventually admitted to doing so.
The meme community loved to parody that bizarre event as well, With the running gag being
that he even stole the concept of wearing a bag on his head from other sources.
But lets get back to that topic of "art" you see when Shia is not acting in movies
he seems to fancy himself somewhat of an artist.
Now I know what you're thinking.
oh cool He Paints?
Or he makes music?maybe he sculpts? for all i know he does all those things but that's
not what I'm talking about…
You see the term "art" is used pretty loosely nowadays.
Like when it was referred to as art when shia sat at a table in a room not saying a single
word as people were allowed to enter one by one and sit across from him after selecting
an item from a table that had a handful of random objects on top of it Don't ask me
why.
Maybe I'm too stupid to understand but the concept seems pretty dumb and far from rt
It was also considered art when he sat in a movie theatre and watched all his films
on a continuous loop while Streaming the whole thing online for others to see.
and then we have his newest endeavor "he will not divide us" get used to hearing
that because you'll be hearing it a lot.
Since Donald Trump took office on January 20th 2017 a 24 hour live stream has been taking
place outside the museum of moving image in Queens New york.
Shia as well as numerous others have been chanting non stop " he will not divide us"
like mindless zombies.
he will not divide us he will not divide us he will not divide us he will not divide us
They claim that the livestream will run for the full 4 years that Donald Trump will potentially
be the president.
The goal of all of this is for the phrase "HE WILL NOT DIVIDE US" to act as a show of
resistance or insistence, opposition or optimism, guided by the spirit of each individual participant
and the community.
Meaning whether you support or oppose Donald Trump the phrase can have duel meanings.
So in theory it seems pretty cool but in reality it's a waste of time for all involved aside
from shia who gets his name in the headlines yet again.
He seems to be doing a whole lot for a guy who doesn't wanna be famous anymore amiright.
But don't get me wrong the stream has provided value because anytime you put a camera in
front of a bunch of people they seem to act like fools.
he will not divide us he will not divide us he will not divide us
Shia himself ended up becoming pretty aggressive towards a couple of individuals which resulted
in him being arrested.
he will not divide us he will not divide us he will not divide us
Now don't get me wrong i fully believe that every citizen has the right to voice their
opinion on our government but i just don't see how doing it in this way is productive.
but maybe thats just me
So there you have it.
Hopefully that helps you understand he will not divide us a little bit better as well
as our buddy shia who has gone from an actor to a meme to a homeless looking artist.
But hey that's the internet for you and on the internet memes are king! just do it
Thank you all so very much for watching!!
Make sure to subscribe so you can catch my next video and stay up to date on all your
favorite memes and trends!!
Who knows you may learn about something you never knew about before I'll catch you beautiful
people next time!
What are you talking about.
nothing ok cool cool you're not being mean to anybody? he's welcome here.
he's gotta do what he's gotta do. as long as he's not being mean to anybody he's
welcomed here.
he's gotta be a part of it

Trump says U.S. will always be 100% behind South Korea - Duration: 1:50.
Korea's acting President Hwang Kyo-ahn and U.S. President Donald Trump, reaffirmed the
two nations' alliance, over a phone conversation on Monday.
Hwang stressed the importance of coordinated efforts against North Korea, while Trump vowed
continued support for Seoul.
Kwon Jang-ho starts us off.
For half an hour on Monday morning, or Sunday evening U.S. time, the acting Korean President
Hwang Kyo-ahn spoke with U.S. President Donald Trump on the phone, to discuss their strategic
military alliance and North Korea.
According to statements from both offices, Hwang congratulated Trump on his inauguration,
before stressing the continued threat from North Korea and the need for the two nations
to work together to denuclearize the rogue state.
Trump said the U.S. will always be 100-percent behind South Korea, and that the South Korea-U.S.
relationship would be "better than ever."
The two also talked about U.S. Defense Secretary James Mattis' upcoming trip to South Korea
later this week, where he's set to take part in discussions on how to further defend against
North Korea.
Hwang also updated Trump on Seoul's position concerning the U.S. missile defense system,
THAAD, which is scheduled to be deployed on the peninsula later this year.
During Trump's election campaign, he had made comments questioning the value of America's
security alliances with countries such as South Korea and Japan.
But shortly after his election win in November he said the U.S. would remain "steadfast and
strong" in defending against North Korea, and has not repeated those previous concerns.
Hwang said he hoped that Trump would visit Korea as soon as possible, and Trump said
he looked forward to meeting Hwang in the near future, as well as wishing the South
Korean people a prosperous and happy Lunar New Year.

When I took this motorcycle off the sidestand

R1 Rider: Can't ride fast (today) there is too much traffic. Me: Lets go and we'll see.
Okay, I guess I was a bit wrong about the
agility, it is very agile but you have
to take the motorcycle over a certain
speed, maybe 30 or 40 kilometers per hour and
then the front becomes absolutely
agile this is an excellent chassis
I must say, I wasn't expecting that.
when I'm riding it on the straight the
front feels almost glued to the highway

property superbike sort of power
dissipate you know comparing it with the
d800 i would say that the ca trip much
more beginner friendly but first it's
less barbels but i would say even the
Dayton is more beginner friendly because
the hour it comes on in a way that may
not be very suitable for beginners
this is my first time with the
motorcycle i'm having a little bit of
problem with the front break i don't
think its a Ducati issue it's just that this
morning the front ebert it's vibrating
ok got a couple of corners coming up so
let's see what the motorcycle
coming out of the corner that was a very
scary experience I wasn't expecting the
huge stones to be over there
There has been been an accident, go back from here...
Turn around, turn around, turn around (aggressively) carrying a shovel in his hand.
Coming back to the discussion this bike feels so
great enters it hugs the tarmac
perfectly gives you that confidence
right from the first raid and yet when
you're pulling it out of the corner it
just suspect so fast extremely Adele
extremely flickable but at the same
time it gives you that extreme feel
field in already has me color cycles
clickable sometimes you lose the front
and feedback it is sort of a trade-off
like the Duke is extremely particular
the RC is not that simple
so you have less friends feedback
whereas the RTS more friends free texts
it's sort of compromise but this
motorcycle seems to have a dog
clickable at the same time the frederick
feedback is just imagine even more than
the Japanese people like that every
single part is it's all to do with that
great trip that the guard has really
love to Cuddy's and I guess this
handling the lightweight and the stable
leadership can be one thing that people
really love about two copies apart from
the two in cylinder which is well it
gives a motorcycle some people say it
gives it more character I wouldn't go so
abstract but say yes the part of the
resource instantaneous that you'd really
enjoy writing this like I'm sorry that
distributed turn out to be as good as my
other reviews but because of the
accident the owner was kind of worried
that doing a ride at this point of time
might be a little dangerous
so we had to cut this short but he loves
you that has promised that there'll be
another episode with the Ducati I just
wanted to share this episode with you
guys because this is my first time on
the ducati and I really really enjoyed
it even if it was shot left specific so
if you like this video i just wanted to
four types of the bike videos make step
outside is the x 14 art tried the human
that is a shark right before you do
something venture has been following it
a positive at the party for Frank Field
so if you want to see all of those
videos to hit the subscribe button if
you're already a subscriber why don't
you hit that like and share button, it
really helps our channel, thanks for
watching and we'll share another episode
very fast and quickly with you guys, this is

Donald Trump's refugee ban, explained - Duration: 5:24.
This executive order, signed by President Trump,
starts a new policy on refugees and immigration in America.
TRUMP: "And this is the protection of the nation from foreign terrorist entry into the
United States..."
But that's not really what's in this Executive Order.
So let's go through it.
First, the executive order banned all immigrants and visa-holders from seven majority-muslim
countries from entering the US for at least 90 days.
There is no security benefit.
Americans are more likely to be killed by their own clothes than by an immigrant terrorist.
Nobody in the US has been killed in a terrorist attack by immigrants from these particular
7 nations.
But the US is now treating everybody from these countries as if they are a suspect.
Computational biologist Samira Asgari said she now can't come here to work on immunogenomics.
Oscar Winner Asghar Farhadi can't come back to the US for the Oscars, where he's nominated
again.
Sudanese Doctor Suha Abushamma hurried back to the US to begin work at the prestigious
Cleveland Clinic, only to be put back onto a plane out hours later.
But in addition to these travel bans, the executive order also begins a fundamental
shift in American refugee policy.
The order halts nearly ALL refugee admissions for 120 days, and admissions of Syrian refugees
indefinitely.
And it says that in the future, refugees will only be admitted from countries that have
sufficient safeguards in place to "ensure the security and welfare of the United States"
This is the opposite of how the US has defined refugees in the past: people fleeing persecution
and violence that their own governments cannot or will not protect them from.
And this comes at a time when the world faces its biggest refugee crisis since World War II.
1 in 122 people worldwide are displaced.
And those fleeing the largest humanitarian emergency of our time -- the Syrian civil
war -- are the ones singled out by Trump for harsher restrictions.
If you're worried about US terrorist attacks like 9/11, San Bernadino, or the Orlando Pulse
shooting – this Order would have prevented exactly none of them.
But there is an exception for some kinds of refugees.
David Brody, Christian Broadcasting Network: "As it relates to persecuted Christians, do
you see them as kind of a priority here?"
Trump:"Yes.
They've been horribly treated."
The US will allow members of religious minorities in the individual's country of nationality
during the 120 day-ban,
and prioritize them thereafter.
Trump: "Do you know if you were a Christian in Syria, it was impossible, very very, at
least very very tough into the United States.
If you were a Muslim you could come in, but if you were a Christian, it was almost impossible"
In fact, half of refugees in the past few years were Christian.
Refugees from Syria reflected the country's religious composition – almost entirely
muslim.
But all this aligns with Trump's anti-Muslim promises throughout the campaign.
Trump: "Donald J. Trump is calling for a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering
the United States."
Trump spoke about taking an "America First" approach at his inauguration.
Trump: "From this day forward it's going to be only America First.
America First."
This Executive Order shows how much that vision aligns with the original "America First"
movement.
That movement sought American isolationism too – they were against American intervention
in World War II.
That attitude resulted in the infamous decision in June 1939 to turn away the St. Louis.
That ship had 937 jewish refugees aboard, fleeing another hostile government: Hitler's.
First, they were turned away in Cuba.
"The liner St. Louis, turned back from Cuba"
Then they approached Florida, but the US Coast Guard, patrolling the waters, kept them away
too.
They eventually disembarked in Belgium, the Netherlands, and France.
"...Jewish unfortunates without a country permitted to land in Belgium after five weeks
of suspense afloat..."
And eventually hundreds died in the holocaust.
Since then, the US Government has been the world's leader in resettling refugees.
"...They finally reach a haven of safety..."
The State Department website still brags about it, claiming 3 Million refugees re-settled
around all 50 states since 1975.
The statue of liberty bears these goals too: a plaque on the pedestal reads:
"Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"
America hasn't always lived up to these lofty goals.
But since World War II, we've lived in an era where the diversity of who gets to come
to America has gone up and up.
And a Federal Judge stayed deportations of those stuck in airports amidst the confusion.
And the Trump administration has already started scaling back.
Reince Priebus, White House Chief Of Staff: "As far as green card holders, moving forward,
it doesn't affect them."
The Trump Administration is trying to end the era when America didn't care what religion
you are.
Regardless where you come from.
Legal challenges and protests around the country continue to try to preserve it.
