Channel Update May/June 2017.

Hi everyone and welcome to the channel update for May and June 2017.

It is time again to provide an update for you with regard to the latest events, the ongoing projects on the workbench and the new kits in the stash.

Right now i have no appointments when it comes to model shows for you guys. That will be a thing again in autumn and winter.

What are the news around the channel? I have a very nice message for you.

Recently my channel passed the 9 million view mark. This means all videos i made combined generated 9 million views.

I am very proud of that achievement. It is amazing and i feel honored that my videos and my models are so popular. It is crazy that so many people watch my work.

I´d like to thank all my viewers for the support. I hope i can provide interesting content in the future as well.

Besides that i was a guest in a podcast hosted by Scandinavian Modeller.

The guys usually record one podcast per week, normally on sunday, and interview a guest about his work. Then a general discussion follows.

This was very entertaining for me, if you are interested you can have a look yourself. You can find the link in the video description.

This is a very interesting concept in my opinion

When i was asked to be a guest in the show i readily accepted. because such a thing needs support and help.

I hope the guys are able to provide more of these high-quality interviews and podcasts in the future.

In the last channel update video i asked you about your opinion on book reviews. Most people were in favour it it.

However, i can not do book reviews anyway, because this creates problems with the copyrights.

It is not even a legal limbo, it is simply not allowed. Because of that i have to scrap this idea.

If an author or a publisher asks me to review books for them it would be a different affair, but reviewing books on my own account is difficult.

I don´t want to get into trouble. I hope you guys understand that.

It would be interesting and i would enjoy it, but i can not do book rviews with good conscience.

At the end of May i visited a very nice model show called "Modell trifft Original" (model meets original) in the airfield museum Leipheim.

"Model meets original" can be taken literally, you have all the museum exhibits, for the most part airplanes, and next to it the models.

It is a very nice show, small, but high quality. Entry is for free.

It was also a good opportunity to buy model kits, there were a few vendors around.

The models on display were all very interesting and of high quality.

Despite all the vendors and nice kits i did not buy anything, but i received a gift - that is actually better than buying something, right?

I got the "Kampfgruppe von Luck" in Normandy figure set by Dragon.

As far as i can tell this figure set is not very easy to find anymore, but a viewer of mine brought along this kit and gave it to me.

That is very cool! Thank you very much, you know who you are. I am very happy about that.

I might find a way to use these figures in a diorama towards the end of the year.

In early June i was in Portugal on vacation or one week.

As you are probably guessing already i visited my friend Carlos Mendes again.

We had a very good time, experienced a lot and visited many nice places. Of course i found a few model kits, too.

I am very happy about the figures in particular. Most of them are hard to find over here. Some luck is required.

The Portuguese machine gunner is quite exotic and unusual anyway. I intend to start working on that one fairly soon.

I got the Tiger I kit from Carlos, thank you very much for that buddy!

I plan to improve the kit with a lot of aftermarket parts.

The base kit by Tamiya is not shabby, but it lacks some detail here and there, which should be removed.

I also received a parcel from England with a very generous donation for my model building workshop, which takes place in early August.

There were various Airfix and Revell kits in the parcel, there was also one Hobby Boss kit.

These are the kind of kits the children enjoy the most. They are relatively easy to build, but they look nice in the end and keep the kids interested.

Thank you very much, you know who you are. I am very happy about that.

Receiving such a generous donation from abroad means quite a lot to me, because the shipping costs are quite expensive.

I am amazed. I am thankful for having such support and knowing people who are that generous.

So far, so good. Let´s have a look at the workbench now.

You probably now this thing from my latest building review series i just started.

It is a Schneider CA tank by Hobby Boss in 1/35 scale.

I am doing a building review about this, so i really don´t have to say a lot about it here.

The kit is pretty nice, but it is simplified a bit here and there.

In the building review i am showing how to deal with the issues and how to make the model more interesting and realistic.

What you can see here is just a side project. I am only working on this when i do not feel like working on the other projects.

This will become a diorama. It will feature the Bronco Flammpanzer II in 1/35 scale.

It is a pretty complex kit, but the parts fit well and the level of detail seems to be awesome. So far it was big fun to work on that kit.

The diorama will also feature this Russian building by RT-Diorama. The dio will depict a scene from the Operation Barbarossa.

The building consists of plaster parts with laser-cut wooden doors and window frames. Pretty lovely actually.

The roof is also made out of plaster, but did not fit on there at all. I was not up to sanding forever and three days to make it fit.

Instead i decided to build the roof myself. I glued in a support strut and put on the basis of the roof using two balsa wood plates.

I will build an ordinary wooden roof. It won´t be very difficult.

The texture and surface detail on the other plaster parts is very nice. Building the roof myself won´t be a problem.

My currently biggest project is the Tamiya Famo with special trailer.

In the last update video i was halfway through the assembly of the tractor. Now the basic assembly is done.

I already got me a driver figure and the stowage and cargo is pretty much done, too.

It consists mainly of boxes, fuel containers, tools and of a Tamiya DKW NZ350 motorbike.

The assembly of the whole thing is just as easy as you expect it from Tamiya, it is a very enjoyable experience.

Painting this vehicle will be the most interesting part.

The tracks in this kit are fully workable and look amazing. They are very easy to assemble, too. Other brands could learn something here.

The trailer is assembled already. It is pretty complex compared to the tractor. Some parts are actually screwed on.

As you can see the steering mechanism is fully workable at the front and the rear.

One could display the trailer all taken apart, but i want to display the trailer in driving position.

Of course the trailer need some cargo. I have picked the Dragon StuG III G.

The reference picture i am using as inspiration for this project you can see a Panzer IV G on the trailer.

I would have prefered that, but the kit was impossible to find. A StuG III is just as good.

Another element of the diorama will be this Opel Blitz truck by Tamiya.

It builds up very nicely, just like all Tamiya kits, and the details are sufficient.

The story of the diorama will be about the right of way. The diorama will depict a mountian road in Italy.

The Famo goes uphill and in a narrow curve it meets the Opel, which goes downhill. The Opel truck does not back off to make space for the Famo.

I will use figures to depict an argument between the Famo crew and the Opel truck driver.

As you can imagine this requires quite a big diorama. I got myself one of these small Ikea side table.

It was still a bit too small though, so i put on some thick balsa wood pieces around the edge to increase the size. The space i have now should be sufficient.

I used styrofoam blocks to create the basic layout of the landscape. It is all glued down with wood glue.

Once that is dry i will cut the styrofoam into the basic shape of the landscape.

Here will be the road, which leads uphill. The Famo with trailer will be here, the Opel Blitz truck will be over here. The figures will stand in between the two vehicles.

Down here i might put a creek or a pasture. I am not yet sure about that.

Over here and here i might put some trees or maybe i go for a meager mountain flora.

The steep slopes will be covered with brick support walls, which i will build myself. I hope it will look realistic in the end.

Many roads in Italy wind through the landscape like this, so that is what i want to depict.

A Famo with trailer is very long. If you want to build a diorama you can either go for a long, narrow board as a base, or you put it into a curve going uphill or downhill. I prefer that.

Now we have a look at the new purchases.

The reason for the addition of two airplane kits to my stash has the following reason: I want to build a few more airplane models again.

Building three or four airplane models per year would be a nice thing.

Allied and Soviet planes are not very interesting for me and i am a bit overfed with German planes, so Italian planes are a nice change.

When it comes to the projects i have on the bench currently i can only say that they will require quite a lot of time.

I might be able to get them done in the course of the summer, but you guys should not expect them to be finished anytime soon.

In between i want to paint a few figures, so you can see a few new things from time to time.

if there is a placenta praevia in which

in case the placenta is at the bottom

and then may cause bleeding in the event of a vaginal delivery

And then of course the baby is in a breech presentation

which means that it could be more harmful for the baby at that time.

So in such cases caesarean section would be a better option
