Simon Mignolet looking forward to new season as he embraces goalkeeping competition

WAN CHAI, HONG KONG – Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp and goalkeeper Simon Mignolet were the last representatives of the four Premier Leagueteams participating in the Asia Trophy Cup over the next few days here in Great Britain's former Crown Colony.

With the inclement weather somewhat clearing up, the teams, media, and the fans were feeling somewhat chipper. Mignolet, who rebounded from coming off the bench to take back the starting keeper's spot last season, exuded the cheerfulness of the new day.

"The first few days of the pre-season are really good for us so far," said the Belgian. "We're training hard and we're enjoying it.

"We've played two games (against Tranmere and Wigan) but at this moment we are not back to our fitness level as last year.

"In the off-season, we worked hard. Everybody came back in really good shape. When training starts, it's all about getting to know everybody again. Physically, it's the first steps.".

With Klopp amusedly looking on upon hearing that Mignolet opened his coffee shop, "Twenty Two Coffee" in his hometown of Sint-Truiden – a reference to his kit number with the Reds – late last calendar year, Mignolet recounted his off-season that he proclaimed to be "enjoyable".

"After the games with Belgium (two World Cup Qualification matches), we had a couple of weeks off. I spent some time with the family and the wife to go on holiday.

"But in the meantime, we texted pictures about us in the off-season (to the manager) to show that we kept fit. Even in the off-season, you have to stay fit.

I had a good break. But I am looking forward to the new season.". When asked about "reporting to the boss" via text pictures, Mignolet said that he wasn't alone in doing so.

"All the boys let him know what we're doing in the off-season. Like I say, you have to keep fit. You have to look after your body even if you're on holiday.".

Now in Hong Kong for a pair of matches – the first against nemesis Crystal Palaceand the second either against Leicester City or West Brom – the team isn't in the Far East for any shopping (of which the island is known for).

"The Asia Cup Trophy is good preparation because you're facing Premier Leagueopposition," said Mignolet. "Going into the new season, you play a similar style of football you have to face. We hope to get better conditions and the weather is different.

But it's nice to show the fans out here what the PL is all about so they can see with their own eyes.".

Of expectations for the upcoming season, the goalkeeper measured his words, "Expectations — to win every game. Go into every game with the idea of trying to get all three points. I think that's the message.

"It's the pre-season, so it's also about better fitness. It's about getting ready. At the same time (here in Hong Kong), we want to engage fans.".

Regarding the three-way battle for the starting goalkeeper slot along with Loris Karius and the returning Danny Ward, Mignolet insisted the competition is good not only for each other but also for the squad.

"We push each other for the new season. The more competition there is for the players, the better. We can only get better individually. "I know myself I have to push myself as far as I can go.

You look in the mirror every day and ask what can you do better and what can you improve? We push each other not only in training but also in the games.".

Mingolet also had good words for Ward who was outstanding with Huddersfield (who wre promoted to the Premier League at the end of the last season).

"He's gained experience of course. He had a good season with Huddersfield. Not only the experience but what it will do for his confidence. Playing in the Championship will help him.

It will be important for our position (for the goalkeepers). He's a year older and he's come back a different man.

"We are looking forward to this season. Football is played in the present and not in the past. And in the future. It is important we qualified for the Champions League. That is something we are looking forward to.

"Everyone in the squad is hungry for the new season. The main message is nobody can do anything individually we have to do it as a squad.

We have a good bunch of lads who want to do well in England and in Europe.". But before Liverpool turns its firm attention to the Premier League, there is the matter of the Asia Cup Trophy.

"Two years ago we came to Asia and kinda had a bit of rain. It's normal here and we're used to it. We have to deal with the situation as best as we can.

"We make sure we are physically ready to train today. So, we look forward to it and deal with it. We will deal with it as best as we can.".

and, zucchini in it.

I'm also having home fries because my lasagna looks so tiny!

I'm having my snack which is dark, quinoa chocolate.

...and rice. You just started talking! (My mother just came in and started talking in the middle of my video! Be quiet, Mom!!)

The dinner I am having is Manchurian Dumplings and sticky rice.

Kate Middleton and Prince William are reportedly sticking to their new Christmas tradition

of celebrating at home instead of spending it with the rest of the British royal family.

Since 2014,, the royal couple have bucked tradition and opted to spend the holidays

at their palatial home Amner Hall in Norfolk, where they've been joined by Kate's parents

and the rest of the Middletons.

And this year is no different as they are said to be keen to make the occasion more

family-oriented and less focused on formality.

"Since they had children, Kate and Prince William have been slowly making a couple of

changes each year.

Kate�s goal is to make Christmas more of a close family occasion, and less of a formal

one," a source told Closer magazine.

George and Charlotte will open their gifts at home on Christmas Day, then attend church

with the royal family, before returning home to reunite with the Middletons as the rest

of the royals will be spending time at Queen Elizabeth's Sandringham estate.

"This way, Will and Kate can really enjoy the look of joy on their children�s faces,"

the insider added.

Their Christmas Eve celebrations will stick with tradition though as they will exchange

gifts with other royals and will rejoin them on the 26th for the annual shoot.

Since their wedding in 2011, Prince William has spent the festive season with his wife's

family and was said to be so taken with their low-key celebrations, he's been incorporating

their traditions to his side of the family.

And this year, Princess Charlotte will join her big brother Prince George to meet Santa

at Thursford Christmas fair.

The couple are said to love playing board games, karaoke and will follow in Princess

Diana's traditions of going for long walks.

"Diana liked to take long walks in the woods with William and [Prince Harry] on the holiday.

Kate will do the same with George and Charlotte," the source added.

Human beings have been dreaming for as long as they have had brains but neurobiologists

are yet to understand the meaning and purpose of dreams.

In a lucid dream, a person is completely aware that they are dreaming, unlike in a regular

dream, and they are able to exert a degree of control in their dreams.

One can choose what to say or do, choose who appears in their dreams and even stop the

dream if it is unpleasant.

Lucid dreams can be either nightmares or fantasies.

As such, you can visit the city of your choice, have sex with anyone and slay dragons in your

sleep.

Lucid dreams occur in Rapid Eye Movement (REM) sleep and can occur more than once in a night.

While some people can induce lucid dreams at will, at least half of all people have

experienced lucid dreams.

Unlike normal dreams, one can remember a lucid dream even years down the line.

Therapeutic Value

Dreams have been proven to unlock one�s innermost emotions and feelings in the brain.

With the control that comes with lucid dreaming, an opportunity arises to rectify deep psychological

issues.

One can associate current emotions with past memories and explore the root of their psychological

and have a whole conversation with them, this could inspire you for days to come.

We often dream of becoming the people we aspire to be, for instance a rich businessperson,

and in lucidity, we elicit feelings of success and self-fulfilment.

This is inspires a great deal of motivation and a lot of successful people have alluded

to this experience as an inspiration to their success.

A lot of students and learners will carry to bed a lot of the day�s experiences and

find themselves dreaming of that algebra lecture they had that day or that history test the

next day that they were just studying for.

Lucid dreams are in fact capable of consolidating both episodic and semantic memories in our

brains resulting in improved memory.

So having a good night�s sleep could actually result in better grades.

Lucidity also improves performance in sports and games and can better other skills too.

Almost every athlete regularly dreams of their sport and visualizes themselves actually playing.

When a basketball player practises shooting three-pointers in a dream, the brain stimulates

the same neurons that are involved when physically performing the action.

This actually results in betterment of skills and can be manifested in other games like

chess.

Conclusion

As dreams continue to remain a mystery, lucid dreams are capable of psychological healing,

restoration and self-improvement.

Learning how to dream lucidly is possible and we can make dreams work

we thought a lot about how we can showcase more things this year and make it a great concert.

And again this time, without hesitation… perhaps because our brigade has good fortune, many people have come to celebrate with us.

Seeing that we have a wonderful stage prepared, I think I am someone who has really good fortune. I'm thankful we have a packed stage ready for you.

When I first appeared on a program called 1 Night 2 Days…

Actually, I went on the show to promote my song but somehow that encounter turned into close to 5 years of traveling our country.

It is a song very dear to me and a song I want to share with you…

When I was first assigned to our Brigade… I wasn't a soldier who had applied to be in the Special Forces.

At the time, I was a common recruit at the Nonsan Army Training Center who had received an intelligence specialty

I learned I had been assigned to the Special Forces on the day of the Completion Ceremony… um and I didn't know what that entailed at the time.

They said there was airborne training and I thought~ what, more training? Training at Nonsan is good enough, no? I was somewhat curious too.

But I had acrophobia and I heard you had to parachute, so I thought~ just tell them I can't go; I have acrophobia, how can I go?! But the army is not about that, right?

But I came to realize that life can really be unpredictable… There are so many things I learned and conquered through coming to the Special Forces.

All the military management/executives here are so very impressive and I thought how do they overcome all these things, bearing all the pains and train, and work so hard for our country?

Outside of here, there may be people who are famous, have status, or a lot of money or stuff like that… but all that aside, I saw that the people here, moreso than anyone else, are sincere and strong-willed and how proud we are of the Special Forces.

Because of you, starting with the severe winter training, then The Long March and the remaining naval training… I'll have so many varied experiences when I leave. Particularly, in the case of The Long March… the biggest test of my life!

Like how can someone make people do this? And the fact that people do it!

All of you who do it because they make us~ you are truly amazing and it shocked me. If someone next next to us would have given up, I would have given up together. But no one gave up!

As expected, my feet were all bruised and there were so many times I wanted to give up, but the comrades walking next to me… Through The Long March, I came to poignantly understand why we are comrades and have to work together to be strong soldiers.

To the soldiers seated up front here and there are others who will be serving further, and all the management/executives and majors here continuing to serve and protect our country

I will always support you from wherever I am, and I will always take pride in my Special Forces ties as I carry out my life in the entertainment industry. Thank you.

WAYNE ROONEY has been offered the chance to return to Old Trafford as a club ambassador. Rooney ended his 13 years as a player with Manchester United this month as he rejoined boyhood club Everton.

Manchester United would like Wayne Rooney to return as club ambassador.

Wayne Rooney won the Europa League as captain in final game with Manchester United. But executive vice chairman Ed Woodward does not want Rooney's association with United to end.

The offer was not part of his last contract but was given verbally before he left for Goodison Park. The Red Devils have no plans at present to build a Rooney statue but there could be one in the future.

He joined at the age of 18 with Chelsea appearing to establish themselves as the new dominant force in English football.

However, after three seasons, he won the first of three title victories in a row — and he has since added two more.

Rooney also won the Champions League, a Fifa Club World Cup, a Europa League an FA Cup and the EFL Cup on four occasions.

Barcelona star Neymar is warming to the idea of leaving Camp Nou and has sent his father to Paris to speak with PSG's president, while Manchester United are also though to hold an interest.

According to a sensational report in AS, the Brazilian has asked his dad to personally convey his desire to leave Camp Nou to Nasser Al-Khelaifi and is already talking about packing his bags for Paris with his close group of friends.

PSG looks like Neymar's most likely destination despite interest from United, with the forward hoping to use Barca's desire to sign Marco Verratti to seal a move.

The Parisians have been utterly adamant that their Italian midfield maestro – new Barca boss Ernesto Valverde's No. 1 target – will not be allowed to leave the club, but that stance might change if Neymar moves in the opposite direction.

PSG have been trying to sign the 25-year-old for several years, though Barcelona have firmly resisted all attempts to lure him away.

But tensions between Neymar and the club heightened during his recent tax problems, while a new contract he signed during that saga set his release clause at €200 million (£175milion), but it increases year on year.

Next season it will reach €250milion, but at its current level PSG could trade Verratti to Barca and only have to stump up a further €100milion (£87milion) to make up the difference, going on the Italian's own release clause.

While a massive sum of money, Neymar's marketability would almost definitely render it a sound investment.

Dani Alves' decision to move to PSG has also played a part, with the winger keen to be reunited with his friend and compatriot after a year apart, with Barca surprisingly allowing the right-back to join Juventus on a free transfer last summer.

Neymar wants to be the main man and fears he will always be in the shadow of Lionel Messi at Barcelona.

Speaking at a press conference on Monday, Barcelona technical secretary Robert Fernandez played down the likelihood of another club paying Neymar's hefty release clause.

'I dont think thats going to happen,' he told reporters.

'Its not our intention to lose players, certainly not good players. We try to improve within the confines of what is possible. Weve not had any offers for any players in our squad.'.

AS are not the only Spanish publication claiming Neymar is unsettled, with Sport also revealing that United and PSG have been given fresh incentive to move for the Brazilian after his inner entourage advised him to leave Spain.

Kate gets the giggles as William dons a VR headset in Poland - Duration: 4:54.

It may be the future of technology but donning a virtual reality headset is guaranteed to

make anyone look a little silly - royalty included.

The Duchess of Cambridge, 35, couldn't help dissolving into giggles this afternoon as

her husband donned VR goggles to see a view of Warsaw during a visit to the Heart business

incubator in the Warsaw Spire building to meet young entrepreneurs.

Kate was also introduced to a robot made by a company called Proton, which moved when

she patted its head.

Earlier, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge received a rapturous welcome from crowds who

lined the streets in the hope of catching a glimpse of the royal visitors, bearing gifts,

bunches of flowers and even a sign saying: 'We love William and Kate'.

After lunch the royal couple were greeted by a huge crowd waving British and Polish

flags and taking photos, as they took a brief walk in front of the palace.

Next stop on the 'respect and friendship' tour was a visit to the 1944 Warsaw Uprising

Museum, dedicated to the uprising of 1944 which saw the Polish resistance Home Army

attempt to liberate Warsaw from German occupation.

The pair chatted to World War II veterans Major Marian Słowiński and Colonel Edmund

Brzozowski, members of the Polish Army and Resistance during World War II.

The couple shook hands with the crowd and signed autographs at the start of a two-country

goodwill trip that is intended to underscore Britain's friendly ties with the European

Union that it is in the process of leaving

After arriving at Warsaw's airport this morning, the couple were driven in a motorcade to meet

President Andrzej Duda and First Lady Agata Kornhauser-Duda at the Presidential Palace

for lunch and a stroll around the palace gardens.

Kate, 35, stunned in a new white coat dress from Alexander McQueen, her go-to label, teamed

with understated court shoes in pale pink suede.

Ever the appropriate dresser, she gave a nod to the colours of Poland's flag by accessorising

with a red box clutch by Jenny Packham and new ruby jewellery.

In the evening, Prince William is set to deliver a speech during a reception in the historic

Lazienki Park in honor of his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II.

On their first official visit to Poland the couple were accompanied by their children,

Prince George, who will be four on Saturday, and Princess Charlotte, two.

The children are expected to draw wide attention on a trip being characterised by the British

press as part of a charm offensive to soften Britain's Brexit diplomacy.

Indeed, they stole the show immediately this morning with confident Princess Charlotte

waving to the cameras and shaking hands with the welcoming committee, while her shy brother

needed coaxing from Prince William before he disembarked the aircraft at Chopin Airport.

The youngsters are expected to make a handful of appearances with their parents and in the

meantime Warsaw's Belvedere Palace, where they are residing during the visit, has had

playground toys installed.

On Tuesday, the royals will travel to the Baltic coast city of Gdansk, where they will

visit a replica of Shakespeare's theater and meet the former president, Lech Walesa, who

was instrumental in bringing about the end of communism in Poland.

On Wednesday, they head to Berlin.

During their five-day tour William and Kate will also meet survivors of the Holocaust

and Nazi oppression as they acknowledge the complex 20th century histories of each country.

In Poland, they will tour the former Stutthof concentration camp where 65,000 people died

at the hands of their captors, and also visit Berlin's Holocaust museum and memorial.

They will also tour the site of Gdansk's shipyards, the birthplace of Poland's Solidarity movement

that helped topple Communist rule.

Here they will meet with founding members of the organisation but it is not known if

Lech Walesa, Poland's former president and leader of its peaceful pro-democracy struggle,

will be present.

Chancellor Angela Merkel will hold a private meeting with the royal couple in Berlin at

the start of the German leg of their tour on Wednesday, and afterwards William and Kate

will visit the Brandenburg Gate, a symbol of German unification.

The mood will change when the duke and duchess renew their friendly sporting rivalry, that

seems to play a part in most of their trips, when they visit the picturesque Germany city

of Heidelberg, twinned with Cambridge.

William and Kate will take to the waters of the River Neckar to cox opposing rowing teams

in a race with crews from drawn from Cambridge and Heidelberg.
