Youtube daily an Jul 18 2017

Hi, this is Mara from MosaLingua! Today we're going to talk about some informal expressions

that Italians use in everyday life and in friendly situations.

We're talking about slang that in Italian is "gergo" .

Let's say that you are planning a night out with your friends.

Let's see what happens! You and your friends

arranged to meet

that is, you decided at what time "beccarvi" . In this context "beccarsi" means

to see each other or to meet,

for example, "ci becchiamo alle 10" , "ci becchiamo dopo" .

Literally, "beccare" is what a bird does with its beak when it

wants to eat.

Eventually you meet, or better, "becchi"

your friends.

To ask how they are, you can say

"Come te la passi?" or

"Che si dice?". You don't have a clear plan for your night out

so you just decided to "cazzeggiare" that is hanging out. It is a bit of a vulgar expression, but

very common, and "tirare tardi" in some bar until late night. The pub is

jam-packed

or better it is "un carnaio",

an expression that comes from "carne" (meat) and it refers to many people

in the same place.

But you and your friends

"vi spaccate dalle risate"…

This is slang too, in fact as you know "spaccare" means to break, but in

this context it means that you are laughing your heads off. There's a lot of people

and "non capisci un tubo" you can't make any sense of what they're saying

also, the girl you're hitting on "non ti fila per niente" (doesn't notice you at all)…

Che pizza! No, it's not time to eat:

"che pizza" means something annoying,

boring, negative. Sure enough, you "sbrocchi" o "scleri" and you leave.

It's not your "sbronza" that prevents you from understanding,

let me explain!

"Sbroccare" is a slang word

that means to freak out,

to go bonkers. Literally "sbroccare" means "uscire dalla brocca", to come out from the pitcher, and the pitcher is

your head. And a "sbronza"

is your hangover! Anyway, don't worry,

I can tell you, it's been a "serata fichissima" (awesome night)! In Italian slang,

these vegetables are in focus,

and there are so many idioms that use cabbage!

Let's see! "Sono cavoli miei"

means "sono affari miei" that's my business. "Cavoli

tuoi",

on the contrary, this is about the other person

and you really don't want to help her. "Col cavolo",

means no way, and you don't have the slightest desire to do something,

For ex. "col cavolo che ti faccio guidare la mia macchina". "Cavoli amari",

lit. it means bitter cabbages but as a slang expression means you're going to have trouble,

for example,

"devo dire a mia madre che ho preso una multa, saranno cavoli amari". "Del cavolo",

means bad,

like in "ho visto un film del cavolo", "ho letto un libro del cavolo". "Che cavolo"

is like saying damn! A curse for bad moments,

often it's replaced with more vulgar expressions,

but if you want communicate your anger in a polite way you can say

"che cavolo mi è caduto il gelato!". If you want to know more about Italian

slang, look below for more info and leave a like and a

First Aid when bitten by an animal

If you or your child is bitten by an animal, follow these instructions:

If you or your child is bitten by an animal, follow these instructions:

For minor wounds: If the bite hardly tearing and there is no risk of rabies, treat it as a small scratch.

Wash the wound with soap and clean water. Apply cream / antibiotic to prevent infection and mask bite with clean bandages.

For deep wounds: If the animal bite creates a deep hole in the skin or the skin is torn and bleed, use a clean, dry cloth to stop the bleeding and see a doctor.

For Infections: If you notice signs of infection, such as swelling, redness, pain, or fluid leakage, see your doctor immediately.

For rabies suspicion: If you suspect a bite has been caused by an animal that may have rabies - including wildlife

Or in the country of unknown immunization status, especially bats - see the doctor immediately.

Doctors recommend tetanus shots every 10 years.

If your last shot was more than five years and your wounds are deep or dirty, your doctor may recommend a booster shot.

Repeat as soon as possible after the injury.

Most bites are from pets, and bites from dogs are more than cats.

However, when bitten by a cat, it is more likely to cause infection because of a cat bite

Often the skin is torn and can not be thoroughly cleaned.

The burning of animals in water and wildlife is a high risk of rabies.

Rabies is more common in bats, pandas, skunks and foxes than in dogs and cats.

Rabbits, squirrels and other rodents rarely carry rabies.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (US) recommends that children or adults come in contact with bats

They must seek medical advice, even if they do not think they have been bitten. This is because the bat's bite may be difficult to see.

Consult your doctor if:

- Wound is a deep hole or you are not sure its gravity.

- Severe skin tearing and bleeding - Apply pressure first using clean tape or cloth to stop bleeding.

- You notice signs of swelling, redness, increased pain or leakage, are alert signs of infection.

- You have questions about the risk of rabies or rabies prevention.

If a cat or dog bite, check the history of its rabies.

If a wildlife bite, seek advice from your doctor about animals that are more likely to carry rabies.

Bats usually carry rabies. And the infected person without the obvious sign of a bite.

This is why the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that

Those who come in contact with bats - or even those who are asleep and wake up to find a bat in the bedroom.

Seek medical advice about rabies, even if they do not think they have been bitten.

You have not had a tetanus shot in five years and the wound is deep, dirty; You may need one shot.

My runes/masteries to lane against tanks in this patch (Still an "experiment") [CC available] - Duration: 1:18.

Hey guys, I just wanted to make a quick video about the runepage I made lately because of the rise of tanks in the actual meta.

So, I only use this runepage when up against tanks like Malphite, Nautilus, Cho'Gath...

Champions like Darius are not part of them though

So, I basically removed the AD and Lifesteal quints to put lifesteal instead.

And I moved 3 flats CDR glyph into 3 scaling CDR to get 5% at level 18 and 5% flat.

In the masteries I basically just go for the usual fervor tree, but make sure to use feast, vampirism and runic armor in order to increase your sustain in lane.

So... that's basically about it.

It will just help you to sustain in lane.

The reason I made this is because tanks are becoming annoying with the item changes and you'd need a lot of sustain to hold the lane, and so far this setup worked fine for me.

You can even go for a vamp scepter before going for your black cleaver if you feel the need. It's still a try but i thought it was good enough to share it with you, try it and give me your feedbacks!

Anyways thank you for watching and see you this week-end for a matchup guide!

Prince William gushes over Kate Middleton: 'She's an amazing mother and fantastic wife' - Duration: 3:09.

Prince William has gushed over Kate Middleton in a candid interview about his personal life.

The Duke of Cambridge appeared on a recent episode of Talk Vietnam where he praised his

wife of five years for her constant support.

Earlier this month, the father to Prince George (three) and Princess Charlotte (two) visited

Vietnam on a whirlwind solo trip and when asked about being a husband and father, the

34-year-old royal responded: "Well, as the other parents in the room will testify, theres

wonderful highs and theres wonderful lows.

Its been quite a change for me, personally.

"Im very lucky in the support I have from Catherine.

She is an amazing mother and a fantastic wife."

On Tuesday, the couple attended a memorial service attended by 1,400 people at Chester

Cathedral to celebrate the life of the late Duke of Westminster.

The younger members of the royal family have always been traditionally coy when discussing

their private lives but both William and Harry have made unexpected moves in releasing statements

in recent weeks.

Harry famously issued a statement lambasting the media for its treatment of new girlfriend

Meghan Markle, citing "sexist and racist undertones" in articles and invasion of privacy, while

William released a statement of his own on Sunday night slamming reports he was "deeply

unhappy" with his younger brother for the initial statement.

A spokesperson for Kensington Palace issued the comments to news outlets regarding the

ongoing drama about Harry and Meghan's relationship.

"The Duke of Cambridge absolutely understands the situation concerning privacy and supports

the need for Prince Harry to support those closest to him," it read.

The Mail on Sunday claimed that the future King of England was disappointed with his

younger brother's now infamous statement in which he lambasted the "sexist and racist

undertones" when describing his new girlfriend.

"He thinks Harry made a mistake in confirming the relationship and releasing such an emotional

statement so soon," an insider told the publication.

"He feels that the statement offered up too much information and only served to fuel speculation

about how serious Harry is about Meghan.

It could also put him in a difficult position in the future regardless of whether the relationship

leads to something or not."

Arkansas won't stop passing laws that make getting an abortion more difficult - Duration: 2:20.

Back in 2009 Arkansas passed a bill that gives the parents of a deceased child

equal rights over how the child's remains are handled.

Well this year the Legislature passed an extension of this law that includes fetal tissue.

So what does this mean?

It means women who seek abortions have to get permission from the biological

father before they can undergo the procedure.

According to the bills primary

sponsor part-time legislator part-time pastor Kim Hammer the bill was only

created to protect the fetuses remains.

The intent of the bill was to separate

the unborn baby from medical waste

But in fact it goes much further than just medical waste.

The tissue disposal mandate doesn't just give the biological father

legal standing to prevent the abortion it requires him to agree before

the woman can go forward.

Meaning if a woman has an abusive partner

a bad breakup or just a one-night stand she will be forced to get the man's

permission before she can get an abortion

oh and of course the law has no exceptions for rape or incest

This bill passed Arkansas House and Senate without

anyone voting against it. It was signed into law at the end of March

If nothing changes the bill is set to go into effect on July 30th

but it's possible that won't happen

the ACLU of Arkansas and the Center for Reproductive Rights filed adjoint

lawsuit against this bill and three other anti-abortion bills that passed in

Arkansas in 2017

The suit argues that the laws impose severe burdens on

women's constitutionally protected right to decide to end a pregnancy.

they're always just trying to come up with ways to

invade a woman's medical privacy and burden her by abortion care.

And it's not just Arkansas trying to restrict access to abortion

According to the Guttmacher Institute, in just the first three months of 2017 lawmakers across

the country introduced 431 measures restricting access to abortion

but lawmakers are still looking for creative loopholes

to keep care away from those who need it

Threat. Victim. Hero- The Easy Way to Create a Campaign Message - Duration: 2:11.

If you are a student in my on-line course on how to win an election, you already

know why your message is the most important component of your campaign.

Today I'm sharing what those who have enrolled in the course are learning.

Absent a compelling message, nothing else you do will matter.

It is, for many candidates, their most difficult task.

Today I am going to make that task simple and easy.

As you create what I call the narrative arc of your campaign message, think of it

as the story you will tell the electorate over the course of a political campaign.

Putting it together requires that you first answer a few simple questions.

Why are you running?

What threat do you want to stop?

What evil do you want to conquer?

Who or what is the villain you intend to fight?

Why should voters fear this threat, or evil, or villain?

Who or what is the victim?

What are the consequences if this evil is not conquered?

Who will be denied opportunity because of this evil or threat?

What is the hope you can offer?

How will you resolve the threat, fear, or evil

that you identified.

All stories have a hero, and it is OK if it's you.

Who or what is the hero in your campaign story?

If you are the hero, what about your background, or your experience, or your

journey makes you uniquely qualified to fix the problem?

These are the elements of a campaign narrative; they are the elements of any

good story.

A threat, evil, villain, fear, victim, hope, opportunity, resolution, a hero.

Once you know the answers to the questions I posed, you are on your way

to constructing what we call the narrative arc of your campaign message.

In fact, once you know the answers, it's easy.

If you'd like to know more about my online course, watch my free, 3-part

video series on how to win an election.

You'll find the link highlighted on the screen, or right below the screen,

depending on the device you are using to watch this video.

Knowing How to Tell a Good Story Is Like Having Mind Control | Alan Alda - Duration: 6:58.

I met a nanoscientist at Cornell University who had a really interesting story.

He had discovered, with his graduate student, how to make the world's thinnest glass—it

was only one atom thick.

The top of it was the same atom as the bottom of it, and he called it "two-dimensional

glass."

It was an amazing thing, nobody had ever found a way to make glass this thin before, and

it was picked up by one scientific journal.

And it seemed like a more interesting subject than one that would just get that much attention.

And a couple of months later he was taking our workshop when we were up at Cornell, and

in the course of talking about his discovery we realized that he had discovered how to

make the world's thinnest glass by accident.

It wasn't something he was trying to do, an accident happened.

And I said, "You know, this is fascinating.

People like us, on the outside, in the public, it's an interesting story to us to know that

something so groundbreaking, that helped you understand the structure of glass and might

have new uses for glass, that you discovered such a thing by accident.

What an interesting story that is."

And also in the meantime he had been cited in the Guinness Book of World Records as having

discovered the world's thinnest glass.

So now he had two things that would interest the public.

And the next time he gave an interview he started off with the story of how it had been

an accident that he discovered this.

This human story now led into the technical story about what was the world's thinnest

glass, how was it made, and that kind of thing.

It became a story that was interesting to other people who don't know the technical

details with that familiarity.

And now his story about discovering the glass was picked up by websites and newspapers all

over America, all over Great Britain, and venture capitalists started calling him, asking

him if they could commercialize this process—just starting with a human story that people on

the outside of your work are interested in, because we're all human and we all think in

stories.

And every experiment has a story.

Every life and science has a story and it's so common to hear people, when you say to

them in a workshop, "Tell me your story."

They say, "Oh, I don't have a story."

Yes, you do!

What's fascinating to you, when you really think about it, about how you got from here

to there?

And the most important thing about a story, it turns out—to me, anyway—is the obstacle

that you found yourself facing as you were trying to get to your goal.

The story is not, "I wanted to get to Toledo, and I went and I got there."

That's okay.

It's not much of a story.

The story is, "I was headed toward Toledo and the airplanes were shut down, the cars

were shut down, the railroad—how was I going to get to Toledo?"

That's an interesting story and I want to listen to that.

If in the course of that it turns out you discovered a new way to get to Toledo, I want

to hear it.

The glass of water exercise is something that I figured out on the way to giving a talk.

I wanted to give a talk to writers about what's the essential ingredient of a dramatic story.

And I'm in the car with my wife and I said, "I don't know how to start this thing."

She said, "Well, why don't you start with some image."

I said, "An image, okay."

So an image of a story, a dramatic story, I decided in that moment was: carrying a glass

of water across the stage, filled to the brim.

So when I got there I said, "Is there somebody relatively brave in the audience?

Come on up.

Carry this empty glass across the stage."

And it's a little awkward.

The audience titters a little bit, but nothing much is happening.

She puts the glass down on the table over there.

Then I take a pitcher and I fill it all the way to the brim, there's hardly a molecule

of water left before it starts to spill, and she's holding the glass and I say, "Okay,

now carry the glass carefully across the stage and put it on the table over there, but don't

spill a drop or your entire village will die."

Now she's got an obstacle she has to overcome, and she carries it so carefully, so carefully

that the audience is riveted to the glass, and if a bead of water goes down the side

of the glass you can hear them gasp.

Now, everybody knows there's no village, nobody is going to die, but just the imaginary situation

that she has this important obstacle makes this an engaging sight, and that happens in

every story that has a dramatic obstacle in it.

The attempt to get past the obstacle, to get where you're going, to achieve what you're

trying to achieve, makes it an interesting story.

So my guess is instead of leaving out your mistakes, instead of leaving out the problems

you have in achieving something, whether it's science or whether it's an interview where

the prospective boss says, "Tell me about your greatest achievement," don't just tell

them about your greatest achievement, tell them about the problems you had in solving

the issue you were dealing with so you could get to something you could call an achievement.

That makes it an interesting story.

It makes it a more human story and it doesn't make you a braggart, it shows you had something

really tough to work on, here's what you thought you might do to make it better.

It's engaging, and what you want to do is engage that new employer.

You don't want to just give them the facts.

"Here are the facts, you ought to hire me."

He's going to work with you.

He's going to work with a person.

Give him the person, and if the scientist gives the audience the person and how they

felt and what they went through as they were accomplishing this important discovery, we're

going to take it in better, we're going to understand it better, and we're going to remember

it.

Things About Who Framed Roger Rabbit You Only Notice As An Adult - Duration: 4:59.

You may remember Who Framed Roger Rabbit as a beloved animated film from your childhood,

but if you watch it as an adult, you might be shocked at its explicit content.

"So I took a couple'a dirty pictures, so kill me."

"I already got a stiff on my hands, thank you."

From the movie's colorful language to its varied pop culture references, to the bodacious

Jessica Rabbit, here are some fascinating things about Who Framed Roger Rabbit you only

notice as an adult.

Pervy Herman

As kids we may have known something wasn't right about a cartoon baby smoking a giant

cigar, but the sexual predilections of Baby Herman may have gone over our innocent little

heads.

"My problem is I got a 50-year-old's lust and a three-year-old's dinky."

Baby Herman might look sweet, but that's just a part he plays in the movies; Herman is a

total perv.

When we first meet him, he takes a peek up a crew member's skirt, and when Herman goes

to see Eddie, Herman slaps his lady friend on the butt.

Not exactly the kind of things you'd want kids to emulate.

Pattycake

When Eddie captures Jessica Rabbit and Marvin Acme playing "pattycake" in her dressing room,

he thinks he's struck gold to convince Roger that his wife is cheating on him.

"Pattycake, pattycake, pattycake!"

Later, the pictures show that Jessica and Marvin really were playing pattycake, but

judging by Roger's reaction, they may as well have been playing bury the carrot instead.

Whether or not pattycake is the toon equivalent of sex, if you were under the age of 12 when

you saw this movie, hopefully the entire bit would've been lost on you.

Bad rabbit

As Jessica Rabbit says,

"I'm not bad, I'm just drawn that way."

And in one case, that's definitely true.

On the original Laserdisc version, when Jessica and Eddie are in a high speed chase and thrown

from the taxi, there's a moment where her dress reveals a little more than you'd expect

in a kids' movie.

But of course, nothing about Jessica Rabbit is exactly "family friendly."

"Nice booby trap."

Alcoholic Eddie

Eddie Valiant spends much of the movie in Dolores' bar, and when he's not there, he's

back in his office, drowning his sorrows.

Eddie's brother, who was also his partner, was killed by a toon, and it's obvious that

Eddie is self-medicating his pain with the help of booze.

Watching the movie as an adult, it's obvious that Eddie is a full-blown alcoholic.

But the movie at least tries to warn its younger audience members about the dangers of alcohol.

When Roger is given a drink after discovering Jessica's infidelity, the results are pretty

messy.

Probate problems

In the scene where Eddie's trying to get his handcuffs off, Eddie suggests that Dolores

go downtown to check the probate on Acme's will, a word Roger clearly misinterprets.

"My Uncle Thumper had a problem with his probate and he had to take big pills and drink lots

of water!"

Chances are you had no idea what a prostate was when you were a kid.

Apparently neither does Roger.

Inhuman Doom

The infamous shoe-melting scene in Who Framed Roger Rabbit is one of the most traumatic

cinematic moments of our childhood.

Thanks to Christopher Lloyd's terrifying performance, Judge Doom goes down in the history books

as one of the scariest movie villains ever.

It's hard to spot through his glasses—and he has some animated help at the end of the

movie—but hardcore fans of the film may have noticed that Lloyd does something inhuman

in every scene he appears in: he never blinks.

Terrifying.

Invisible Harvey

When Judge Doom storms the bar looking for Roger, one of the patrons seems like he's

about to give up Roger's hiding spot.

And then he does this:

"Say hello, Harvey."

It's a pretty random joke… unless you get the reference.

The man at the bar was referring to Harvey, a 1950 comedy about an invisible rabbit starring

Jimmy Stewart.

And it just so happens that the main character is an alcoholic like Eddie who spends most

of his time in a bar.

Singing Sword

Looking for a weapon in the final showdown with Judge Doom, Eddie grabs a prop out of

a box in the warehouse: the singing sword.

"Oh, I know it's strictly taboooo!"

Older viewers probably recognized the sword as none other than Frank Sinatra.

But that's not the only pop culture reference packed into this short bit at the end of the

film.

Eddie's last name, Valiant, is a reference to the Prince Valiant comic strip of the late

1930s and 40s—in it, Prince Valiant's weapon of choice is… you guessed it, a singing

sword.

Hand-drawn racism

Who Framed Roger Rabbit is packed with adult themes, one of the biggest of which is its

depiction of racism in Hollywood.

Cartoons are definitely being treated as second-class citizens, especially under the reign of Judge

Doom, who is overtly racist against animated figures.

In the movie, the toons work as performers and waiters at the club where Jessica sings,

but the only patrons are humans.

In the end, Roger Rabbit's achievements in animation are only bolstered by this extended

metaphor on racism and segregation.

It's fascinating to re-watch the movie as an adult while keeping this metaphor in mind.

"The best part is, they work for peanuts."
