How can "finding God" bring happiness to your life? - Duration: 3:28.
Ankerberg: Yes.
This is not just academic for you.
You've actually experienced what you're talking about.
Take us back to the time when you were not a Christian and you started thinking about
these things.
Craig: Yes.
I was not raised in a Christian family, though it was a good and loving family.
But I experienced the despair and the blackness that I've talked about and that I later
read in the French existentialist philosophers.
As I looked out at life and my own existence, I thought, what is the meaning of my existence?
I was aware that everything was doomed ultimately to extinction, and I could see no meaning
or purpose for my existence or the existence of anything else.
And this filled me with a deep despair and blackness.
And I don't know if you understand what this is like, but it makes every day miserable;
another day to get through.
And I remember one day I was feeling particularly crummy.
I walked into my high school German class, and I sat down behind a girl who was one of
these types that is always so happy it just makes you sick.
And I tapped her on the shoulder and said, "What are you always so happy about anyway?"
And she said, "It's because I know Jesus Christ as my personal Savior."
And I said, "Well, I go to church."
And she said, "That's not enough, Bill.
You've got to have Him really living in your heart."
And I said, "Well, what would He want to do a thing like that for?"
And she said, "Because He loves you, Bill."
And that just hit me like a ton of bricks.
Here I was, so filled with despair and anger, and she said there was someone who really
loved me.
And who was it but the God of the universe!
And that thought just staggered me.
To think that the God of the universe could love me, that worm named Bill Craig down there
on that speck of dust called the planet earth.
And so I went home that night and picked up a New Testament that had been given to me
in the 5th grade by the Gideons when they visited our grade school, and I began to read
it.
And as I read the Gospels, I was absolutely captivated by the person of Jesus of Nazareth.
There was wisdom about this man's teaching that I had never encountered before, and there
was an authenticity about His life that was simply undeniable.
Well, to make a long story short, I went through about six months of the most intense and agonizing
soul searching I've ever gone through, until finally I just came to the end of my rope.
And one night I cried out to God, and I cried out all the anger and the bitterness that
had been building up inside of me.
And as I did so I felt this tremendous infusion of joy like a balloon being blown up until
it was ready to burst.
And I rushed outdoors.
It was a warm Midwestern summer evening, and you could see the Milky Way from horizon to
horizon.
And as I looked up at the stars I thought, "God!
I've come to know God!"
And that moment just changed my whole life.
I knew that I could not do anything less than spend the rest of my entire life sharing this
good news with mankind.
Because if this is the truth, if it's really the truth, this is the greatest news ever
announced.

This Technique Can Fight Bad Breath And Mouth Bacteria Naturally!
Must Try!
Oil pulling is very effective in helping the teeth to become naturally white and it also
helpful for the health of the gum.
There are really certain kinds of oils that can help in fighting against harmful bacteria
inside the mouth.
This method comprises of whooshing the oil in the mouth for a couple of minutes each
day.
The benefits that can be obtained from this method are too many.
This ancient method is usually known for its teeth-whitening and bad breath-banishing effects.
How to perform the method?
Oil pulling is a very easy and simple method.
All you have to do is to put a few numbers of teaspoons of vegetable oil such as coconut,
sesame and olive oil into your mouth and gargle it for a couple of minutes.
After doing so, spit it out and rinse your mouth with fresh water.
In order to see and experience the best result, do this procedure either in the morning on
an empty stomach or in the evening before going to sleep.
Instructions
Put at least 1 to 2 teaspoon of oil that you prefer, it can be vegetable, coconut or sesame
oil in your mouth and gargle for a couple of minutes.
While you are gargling it, the oil eventually turns to thicker, milky and creamy white when
you are about to spit it out.
Then rinse your mouth with fresh water and brush your teeth as well.
If you wanted to advance your oral health and also to keep your teeth as white as possible,
this is the easiest, cheapest and most effective method that you could ever use.
You may find it a little tough in the beginning but as time goes by you will get used to it.
Just repeat the procedure on a regular basis to acquire whiter and brighter teeth in just
a week.

How Eye Bags can Happen in the Early 20s or Younger, and Options for Treatment - Duration: 7:33.
Thank you for your question.
You've submitted several photos from multiple angles of your eye area and you stated in
your question that you're 21-years-old.
You're aware of a low iron level and you are well aware of other variables that are
contributing to under eye bags.
And you're looking for some guidance on what to do.
Well, I can certainly help you understand what my impression is based on the photos
you submitted.
A little bit of background, I'm a Board-certified cosmetic surgeon and Fellowship-trained oculofacial
plastic and reconstructive surgeon.
I have been in practice in Manhattan and Long Island for over 20 years.
And helping people with under eye aesthetics has been a significant part of my practice
for decades.
And we offer a wide variety of solutions.
But it's very important to first understand the anatomy before you start looking for solutions.
So to begin with, what do we see when we look at the photos?
Well, the photos, my impression is that you have what's called lower eyelid fat prolapse.
Lower eyelid fat prolapse is an anatomic description of the fat pockets that's specifically around
your eye that have pushed forward and created this puffiness under the eyes.
Now, part of the irony of the situation is a lot of times people don't notice the puffiness
but are bothered by what they perceive is a hollow and this hollow is the area adjacent
to the puffiness referred to as the tear trough and the orbital rim area.
So when it comes to solutions, you are essentially looking at two different perspectives: one
is to try to blend the appearance of the puffiness by adding volume in the area of the tear trough
and the other is to reduce the puffiness by addressing it in a way so that the puffiness
is no longer present.
So generally speaking, it's really a matter of a proper physical examination and making
a decision as to what you're comfortable with.
When it comes to first more of the conservative option, the use of an injectable filler such
as in the hyaluronic acid family such as Restylane is something we do routinely.
We place Restylane into this area called tear trough and it can really do a nice job of
camouflaging and blending the interface between the puffy under eye bag and the adjacent area
thereby creating a more of an even contour.
Interestingly, although Restylane would typically last only about 6 months in other areas, it
is not unusual for this filler to actually last longer in this area.
Now, with the appeal of something like this as a strategy is of course it is minimally
invasive.
It's done in an office setting.
A little bit of local anesthetic and the techniques that I employ actually uses something called
cannulas where I place this filler as minimally traumatic with the lowest risk, in my opinion,
of bruising in comparison to direct injection.
Now that is one plan and one option.
The second plan or option would be to do a procedure called a transconjunctival blepharoplasty.
In someone who is relatively young who has lower eyelid fat prolapse, it is my approach
to always to do this procedure from the inside of the eyelid.
Of course, you don't always say always but essentially the probability is doing it from
the inside, basically avoiding external incisions as well as avoiding of course stitches.
And so by doing it from the inside, we're actually able to sculpt the fat and reduce
it in a way so that it contours the skin such that it would appear that you never had the
fat pockets there.
Now a lot of times, people who are relatively young like yourself are very hesitant to do
anything because they feel they're too young to do something and certainly, that's an
understandable perspective.
I can tell you that my youngest patient for under eye bags which of course, was considerably
larger than yours was a young man who was 14-years-old.
So it's not necessarily an age issue but thanks to the different options I described,
fillers can maybe be a good way to address the cosmetic appearance until you are ready
to do something else or it maybe something that you are able to do for years depending
on how much more prominent the under eye puffiness becomes depending on your genetics as well
as your environmental factors.
So I would say, meet with qualified, experienced surgeons who do both injectable fillers as
well as surgery and have a lot of experience with the under eye area.
And you may want to just take the first small step of trying a filler and hopefully that
would be adequate for you.
But of course, there's a difference between looking at a photo and seeing someone in person.
No matter how good the photos are, the photos are not a three dimensional representation
as a live examination.
And so, once that is done, the doctor is able to make a more informed assessment for you
and give the guidance that is appropriate.
So I hope that was helpful, I wish you the best of luck and thank you for your question.

10 EASY THINGS YOU CAN DO TODAY THAT WILL MAKE YOU HAPPIER, BACK - Duration: 21:49.
10 EASY THINGS YOU CAN DO TODAY THAT WILL MAKE YOU HAPPIER, BACKED BY SCIENCE
It seems everyone is seeking happiness. For me, I prefer to look at it as the search for
peace and joy in life, as I find happiness can be too conditional, and anytime we have
to look for or chase something, we are looking outside of us. Surely some of this is just
semantics, but happiness is, in my view, a state of being that comes from within and
doesnt shift with circumstance.
I came across this great article about the science of happiness and how researchers have
been able to discover that we can adjust various things in our daily lives to bring more happiness
to our state of being. Though, again, I believe happiness happens over the longterm. Its
not short spurts of emotion that we chase, but something that is born within and sustained
naturally in our being.
1. Exercise more 7 minutes might be enough
You might have seen some talk recently about the scientific 7 minute workout mentioned
in The New York Times. So if you thought exercise was something you didnt have time for,
maybe you can fit it in after all.
Exercise has such a profound effect on our happiness and well-being that its actually
been proven to be an effective strategy for overcoming depression. In a study cited in
Shawn Achors book, The Happiness Advantage, three groups of patients treated their depression
with either medication, exercise, or a combination of the two. The results of this study really
surprised me. Although all three groups experienced similar improvements in their happiness levels
to begin with, the follow-up assessments proved to be radically different:
The groups were then tested six months later to assess their relapse rate. Of those who
had taken the medication alone, 38 percent had slipped back into depression. Those in
the combination group were doing only slightly better, with a 31 percent relapse rate. The
biggest shock, though, came from the exercise group: Their relapse rate was only 9 percent!
You dont have to be depressed to gain benefit from exercise, though. It can help you to
relax, increase your brain power and even improve your body image, even if you dont
lose any weight.
A study in the Journal of Health Psychology found that people who exercised felt better
about their bodies, even when they saw no physical changes:
Body weight, shape and body image were assessed in 16 males and 18 females before and after
both 6 40 mins exercise and 6 40 mins reading. Over both conditions, body weight
and shape did not change. Various aspects of body image, however, improved after exercise
compared to before.
Weve explored exercise in depth before, and looked at what it does to our brains,
such as releasing proteins and endorphins that make us feel happier, as you can see
in the image below.
2. Sleep more youll be less sensitive to negative emotions
We know that sleep helps our bodies to recover from the day and repair themselves, and that
it helps us focus and be more productive. It turns out, its also important for our
happiness.
In NutureShock, Po Bronson and Ashley Merryman explain how sleep affects our positivity:
Negative stimuli get processed by the amygdala; positive or neutral memories gets processed
by the hippocampus. Sleep deprivation hits the hippocampus harder than the amygdala.
The result is that sleep-deprived people fail to recall pleasant memories, yet recall gloomy
memories just fine.
In one experiment by Walker, sleep-deprived college students tried to memorize a list
of words. They could remember 81% of the words with a negative connotation, like cancer.
But they could remember only 31% of the words with a positive or neutral connotation, like
sunshine or basket.
The BPS Research Digest explores another study that proves sleep affects our sensitivity
to negative emotions. Using a facial recognition task over the course of a day, the researchers
studied how sensitive participants were to positive and negative emotions. Those who
worked through the afternoon without taking a nap became more sensitive late in the day
to negative emotions like fear and anger.
Using a face recognition task, here we demonstrate an amplified reactivity to anger and fear
emotions across the day, without sleep. However, an intervening nap blocked and even reversed
this negative emotional reactivity to anger and fear while conversely enhancing ratings
of positive (happy) expressions.
Of course, how well (and how long) you sleep will probably affect how you feel when you
wake up, which can make a difference to your whole day. Especially this graph showing how
your brain activity decreases is a great insight about how important enough sleep is for productivity
and happiness:
Another study tested how employees moods when they started work in the morning affected
their work day.
Researchers found that employees moods when they clocked in tended to affect how
they felt the rest of the day. Early mood was linked to their perceptions of customers
and to how they reacted to customers moods.
And most importantly to managers, employee mood had a clear impact on performance, including
both how much work employees did and how well they did it.
Sleep is another topic weve looked into before, exploring how much sleep we really
need to be productive.
3. Move closer to work a short commute is worth more than a big house
Our commute to the office can have a surprisingly powerful impact on our happiness. The fact
that we tend to do this twice a day, five days a week, makes it unsurprising that its
effect would build up over time and make us less and less happy.
According to The Art of Manliness, having a long commute is something we often fail
to realize will affect us so dramatically:
while many voluntary conditions dont affect our happiness in the long-term because
we acclimate to them, people never get accustomed to their daily slog to work because sometimes
the traffic is awful and sometimes its not. Or as Harvard psychologist Daniel Gilbert
put it, Driving in traffic is a different kind of hell every day.
We tend to try to compensate for this by having a bigger house or a better job, but these
compensations just dont work:
Two Swiss economists who studied the effect of commuting on happiness found that such
factors could not make up for the misery created by a long commute.
4. Spend time with friends and family dont regret it on your deathbed
Staying in touch with friends and family is one of the top five regrets of the dying.
If you want more evidence that its beneficial for you, Ive found some research that proves
it can make you happier right now.
Social time is highly valuable when it comes to improving our happiness, even for introverts.
Several studies have found that time spent with friends and family makes a big difference
to how happy we feel, generally.
I love the way Harvard happiness expert Daniel Gilbert explains it:
We are happy when we have family, we are happy when we have friends and almost all the other
things we think make us happy are actually just ways of getting more family and friends.
George Vaillant is the director of a 72-year study of the lives of 268 men.
In an interview in the March 2008 newsletter to the Grant Study subjects, Vaillant was
asked, What have you learned from the Grant Study men? Vaillants response: That
the only thing that really matters in life are your relationships to other people.
He shared insights of the study with Joshua Wolf Shenk at The Atlantic on how the mens
social connections made a difference to their overall happiness:
The mens relationships at age 47, he found, predicted late-life adjustment better than
any other variable, except defenses. Good sibling relationships seem especially powerful:
93 percent of the men who were thriving at age 65 had been close to a brother or sister
when younger.
In fact, a study published in the Journal of Socio-Economics states than your relationships
are worth more than $100,000:
Using the British Household Panel Survey, I find that an increase in the level of social
involvements is worth up to an extra 85,000 a year in terms of life satisfaction. Actual
changes in income, on the other hand, buy very little happiness.
I think that last line is especially fascinating: Actual changes in income, on the other hand,
buy very little happiness. So we could increase our annual income by hundreds of thousands
of dollars and still not be as happy as if we increased the strength of our social relationships.
The Terman study, which is covered in The Longevity Project, found that relationships
and how we help others were important factors in living long, happy lives:
We figured that if a Terman participant sincerely felt that he or she had friends and relatives
to count on when having a hard time then that person would be healthier. Those who felt
very loved and cared for, we predicted, would live the longest.
Surprise: our prediction was wrong Beyond social network size, the clearest benefit
of social relationships came from helping others. Those who helped their friends and
neighbors, advising and caring for others, tended to live to old age.
5. Go outside happiness is maximized at 13.9C
In The Happiness Advantage, Shawn Achor recommends spending time in the fresh air to improve
your happiness:
Making time to go outside on a nice day also delivers a huge advantage; one study found
that spending 20 minutes outside in good weather not only boosted positive mood, but broadened
thinking and improved working memory
This is pretty good news for those of us who are worried about fitting new habits into
our already-busy schedules. Twenty minutes are a short enough time to spend outside that
you could fit it into your commute or even your lunch break.
A UK study from the University of Sussex also found that being outdoors made people happier:
Being outdoors, near the sea, on a warm, sunny weekend afternoon is the perfect spot for
most. In fact, participants were found to be substantially happier outdoors in all natural
environments than they were in urban environments.
The American Meteorological Society published research in 2011 that found current temperature
has a bigger effect on our happiness than variables like wind speed and humidity, or
even the average temperature over the course of a day. It also found that happiness is
maximized at 13.9C, so keep an eye on the weather forecast before heading outside for
your 20 minutes of fresh air.
The connection between productivity and temperature is another topic weve talked about more
here. Its fascinating what a small change in temperature can do.
6. Help others 100 hours a year is the magical number
One of the most counterintuitive pieces of advice I found is that to make yourself feel
happier, you should help others. In fact, 100 hours per year (or two hours per week)
is the optimal time we should dedicate to helping others in order to enrich our lives.
If we go back to Shawn Achors book again, he says this about helping others:
when researchers interviewed more than 150 people about their recent purchases, they
found that money spent on activitiessuch as concerts and group dinners outbrought
far more pleasure than material purchases like shoes, televisions, or expensive watches.
Spending money on other people, called prosocial spending, also boosts happiness.
The Journal of Happiness Studies published a study that explored this very topic:
Participants recalled a previous purchase made for either themselves or someone else
and then reported their happiness. Afterward, participants chose whether to spend a monetary
windfall on themselves or someone else. Participants assigned to recall a purchase made for someone
else reported feeling significantly happier immediately after this recollection; most
importantly, the happier participants felt, the more likely they were to choose to spend
a windfall on someone else in the near future.
So spending money on other people makes us happier than buying stuff for ourselves. What
about spending our time on other people? A study of volunteering in Germany explored
how volunteers were affected when their opportunities to help others were taken away:
Shortly after the fall of the Berlin Wall but before the German reunion, the first wave
of data of the GSOEP was collected in East Germany. Volunteering was still widespread.
Due to the shock of the reunion, a large portion of the infrastructure of volunteering (e.g.
sports clubs associated with firms) collapsed and people randomly lost their opportunities
for volunteering. Based on a comparison of the change in subjective well-being of these
people and of people from the control group who had no change in their volunteer status,
the hypothesis is supported that volunteering is rewarding in terms of higher life satisfaction.
In his book Flourish: A Visionary New Understanding of Happiness and Well-being, University of
Pennsylvania professor Martin Seligman explains that helping others can improve our own lives:
we scientists have found that doing a kindness produces the single most reliable momentary
increase in well-being of any exercise we have tested.
7. Practice smiling it can alleviate pain
Smiling itself can make us feel better, but its more effective when we back it up with
positive thoughts, according to this study:
A new study led by a Michigan State University business scholar suggests customer-service
workers who fake smile throughout the day worsen their mood and withdraw from work,
affecting productivity. But workers who smile as a result of cultivating positive thoughts
such as a tropical vacation or a childs recital improve their mood and withdraw
less.
Of course its important to practice real smiles where you use your eye sockets.
Its very easy to spot the difference:
Smiling
According to PsyBlog, smiling can improve our attention and help us perform better on
cognitive tasks:
Smiling makes us feel good which also increases our attentional flexibility and our ability
to think holistically. When this idea was tested by Johnson et al. (2010), the results
showed that participants who smiled performed better on attentional tasks which required
seeing the whole forest rather than just the trees.
A smile is also a good way to alleviate some of the pain we feel in troubling circumstances:
Smiling is one way to reduce the distress caused by an upsetting situation. Psychologists
call this the facial feedback hypothesis. Even forcing a smile when we dont feel
like it is enough to lift our mood slightly (this is one example of embodied cognition).
One of our previous posts goes into even more detail about the science of smiling.
8. Plan a trip but dont take one
As opposed to actually taking a holiday, it seems that planning a vacation or just a break
from work can improve our happiness. A study published in the journal, Applied Research
in Quality of Life showed that the highest spike in happiness came during the planning
stage of a vacation as employees enjoyed the sense of anticipation:
In the study, the effect of vacation anticipation boosted happiness for eight weeks.
After the vacation, happiness quickly dropped back to baseline levels for most people.
Shawn Achor has some info for us on this point, as well:
One study found that people who just thought about watching their favorite movie actually
raised their endorphin levels by 27 percent.
If you cant take the time for a vacation right now, or even a night out with friends,
put something on the calendareven if its a month or a year down the road. Then whenever
you need a boost of happiness, remind yourself about it.
9. Meditate rewire your brain for happiness
Meditation is often touted as an important habit for improving focus, clarity and attention
span, as well as helping to keep you calm. It turns out its also useful for improving
your happiness:
In one study, a research team from Massachusetts General Hospital looked at the brain scans
of 16 people before and after they participated in an eight-week course in mindfulness meditation.
The study, published in the January issue of Psychiatry Research: Neuroimaging, concluded
that after completing the course, parts of the participants brains associated with
compassion and self-awareness grew, and parts associated with stress shrank.
Meditation literally clears your mind and calms you down, its been often proven to
be the single most effective way to live a happier life. I believe that this graphic
explains it the best:
Before and After Meditation
According to Shawn Achor, meditation can actually make you happier long-term:
Studies show that in the minutes right after meditating, we experience feelings of calm
and contentment, as well as heightened awareness and empathy. And, research even shows that
regular meditation can permanently rewire the brain to raise levels of happiness.
The fact that we can actually alter our brain structure through mediation is most surprising
to me and somewhat reassuring that however we feel and think today isnt permanent.
Weve explored the topic of meditation and its effects on the brain in-depth before.
Its definitely mind-blowing what this can do to us.
10. Practice gratitude increase both happiness and life satisfaction
This is a seemingly simple strategy, but Ive personally found it to make a huge difference
to my outlook. There are lots of ways to practice gratitude, from keeping a journal of things
youre grateful for, sharing three good things that happen each day with a friend
or your partner, and going out of your way to show gratitude when others help you.
In an experiment where some participants took note of things they were grateful for each
day, their moods were improved just from this simple practice:
The gratitude-outlook groups exhibited heightened well-being across several, though not all,
of the outcome measures across the 3 studies, relative to the comparison groups. The effect
on positive affect appeared to be the most robust finding. Results suggest that a conscious
focus on blessings may have emotional and interpersonal benefits.
The Journal of Happiness studies published a study that used letters of gratitude to
test how being grateful can affect our levels of happiness:
Participants included 219 men and women who wrote three letters of gratitude over a 3
week period.
Results indicated that writing letters of gratitude increased participants happiness
and life satisfaction, while decreasing depressive symptoms.
Quick last fact: Getting older will make yourself happier
As a final point, its interesting to note that as we get older, particularly past middle
age, we tend togrow happier naturally. Theres still some debate over why this happens, but
scientists have got a few ideas:
Researchers, including the authors, have found that older people shown pictures of faces
or situations tend to focus on and remember the happier ones more and the negative ones
less.
Other studies have discovered that as people age, they seek out situations that will lift
their moods for instance, pruning social circles of friends or acquaintances who might
bring them down. Still other work finds that older adults learn to let go of loss and disappointment
over un-achieved goals, and hew their goals toward greater wellbeing.
So if you thought being old would make
you miserable, rest assured that its likely youll develop a more positive outlook than
you probably have now.

Can We Change the World by Changing Ourselves? - Duration: 3:48.
Are you the kind of person who feels
passionate about making a difference in the world,
but... you get discouraged
that you can't...
do as much
on the scale
that you would love to do,
that you can't change the world
fast enough and on a big scale?
You feel the urge and you feel the call
to do something to make a difference,
to be of service.
And at the same time
you try, and you stumble,
and... it's hard...
and it's clunky...
and...
you don't make as much progress during the day,
and it can feel very discouraging.
So what I want to tell you is something that
pretty much everyone,
almost everyone,
misses: the key, the real key factor
in making a difference in the world,
that everyone misses.
Most people focus on external.
What they can do externally
in order to change the world.
And that is important,
we do need to do... to take external actions
to affect change.
However,
if you are feeling incongruent,
not in harmony,
frustrated,
angry, upset, or anything like that...
Your consciousness is part of collective consciousness.
So, it's all very well,
you may be going and donating your time,
and donating money,
and doing all those beautiful external things,
but if your consciousness is polluted,
you are polluting the consciousness,
the collective consciousness.
And that is not really helping.
So you may be doing beautiful things on the physical plane,
but if you are not taking care of your consciousness,
then there is discrepancy, you see?
How you can make a difference in the world,
and that is truly how you can affect change
on a deep deep deep deep profound level,
is working on your own consciousness.
So, yes, we need to continue taking actions
on the external level as well:
continue donating our time,
continue contributing
in whatever way we want to contribute,
whether it's through our business,
or through charities,
or however you do this,
it's absolutely fine.
We cannot ignore or underestimate
the impact we create in the world
through our consciousness.
A lot of people are spending a lot of time,
a lot of money and a lot of resources
on gaining external skills,
you know, learning about strategies
and learning about this particular modality,
and that particular modality,
and gaining skills and skills and skills
and certificates and certificates upon certificates.
That's all very good,
and we need to do the work
on our consciousness,
the really deep work
of uplifting ourselves to a higher state,
every single day,
step by step, step by step,
step by step, lifting, lifting, lifting, lifting.
Because that is how we affect change in the world,
from the inside out.

NEW CAN'T SWIM, MILK TEETH, AND DO YOU CARE ABOUT EXPENSIVE RE-ISSUES? | Thank Punk It's Friday #78 - Duration: 10:00.
Hey everybody Jamie here from Start A Riot, just for this week I'm doing a make your
own meme opening: green-screen is on, do your worst.
Welcome to Thank Punk It's Friday before we get started please like the video and the
Facebook page subscribe to the YouTube channel if you're not already and now
here's all the music news that you need to know this week Can't Swim released a
brand new song called God Awful it follows on from there excellent debut
album Fail You Again which came out earlier this year on Pure Noise Records
if you haven't heard it already then I highly recommend you check it out, an
excellent album this is a song that was recorded in these same sessions as the
Fail You Again sessions but didn't make it onto the album for whatever reason the
band have said that they since regret it they really like the song so they just
wanted to release it as a single coincidentally they're about to go on a
US tour with Have Mercy, the excellent Boston Manor from the UK and A Will Away
all around North America before heading back to the UK with Creeper, Microwave
and Nervus this winter December November time cannot wait to see them
again can't wait for them come back to the UK just really one of the best bands
in the world right now at their stage in their career
brilliant band Milk Teeth released a new song called Nearby Catfight, it's
off their second EP of the year called Go Away, follows on from the Be Nice EP in
July released on Roadrunner Records this will also be out on Roadrunner on the
17th of November as for the song not huge on it to be honest right now but I
did kind of say that about some of the stuff off Be Nice and that EP is
excellent so maybe it'll grow on me maybe it won't maybe this song just
doesn't hit the right place for me I don't know I honestly can't say there
are a lot of kittens in the video though so check it out they will be touring
with Good Charlotte Against The Current and Nothing, Nowhere in November in
December in the UK probably not gonna go that's a be honest Bully released
another song Kills To Be Resistant off their upcoming second album Losing which will
be out on Sub Pop Records on October the 20th the first album
Feels Like was great one of the best of 2015 and I've similar high hopes for
this album especially since they signed to Sub Pop Records it's really good see
them get a bigger crack at it the three singles that released so far have been
excellent as well really looking forward to this in a few weeks something a bit
different the Yeah Yeah Yeahs are re-releasing their debut album A Fever To Tell on a
deluxe box set on the 20th of October now don't usually talk about reissues
but I want to talk about this for two reasons first one is in my opinion is
quite an underrated album while the YYYs have gone on to be kind of indie
hotshots there are over looked a lot in the kind
of punk and alternative scene this album is absolutely incredible this songs off
it like Pin, Date With The Night and then Maps into Y Control later on the album
just absolutely phenomenal songs and a phenomenal album but this reissue is
very expensive one hundred and ninety five dollars now for your money you do
get quite a lot so double LP there's also a USB stick that comes with it
there's loads of exclusive photos you know this there's a lot of extras
rarities b-sides all the stuff through my expects in a boxer but at the same
time even if Brand New released something like this and it was $200 I
don't know if I'd pay it I really don't think I would I mean obviously it's for
super fans but the album came out 14 years ago and I think there's a limit to
what people will pay it's interesting to see if it'll sell out, it's one of two thousand
and the YYYs haven't released anything for a few years four years I think since
their last album I guess what it comes down to is the value that people place
these things that it's kind of in a similar ballparks to the Frank Turner thing
from last week, is it right to charge a thousand dollars for that kind of
experience? I guess if you're really into Frank Turner yes but if you're not then
absolutely no way why would you do that? So what I want to know is do you agree
with these kind of expensive collector's editions? Obviously very limited edition
things that are collector's item would you buy this if it was for your favorite
band? The deluxe collector's edition like double LP of your favourite album, and if
you have what is most you have paid for this kind of
collector's item or dare I say it even a VIP package at a concert? Yes they exist
yes its taboo to talk about it but get it in the comments what are your
thoughts on this matter do people have too much money? Is this exploiting people who
can't afford this kind of thing? In my opinion a little bit yes but some really
good albums that are out today that aren't exploiting any one The World Is A
Beautiful Place released their third album Always Foreign today, now for
someone that hasn't necessarily been a huge fan of The World Is A Beautiful Place
And I Am No Longer Afraid To Die in the past, I think this is kind of a
refreshing change the singles I've heard so far kind of retain that little
weirdness and expansiveness that they've shown before but also give it a much
catchier edge a much poppier edge you know makes it quite accessible which I
think The World Is have kind of struggled with in the past
one for the purists emo fans I know they'll hate me for saying that I
haven't been into their old stuff but you know what are you gonna do so I
think if you like me you haven't necessarily got into this stuff before
it's definitely worth checking out this newer stuff
The legendary political punk band Propagandhi released their seventh album
Victory Lap today, it's also their first album since 2012's Failed States so it's been
5 years for them again the singles so far have been really sick I actually managed
to catch Propagandhi last month at Punk Rock Holiday in Slovenia and they
were incredible so much energy for a band that has been going nearly 30 years
really looking forward to hopefully seeing them again soon in the future
Diet Cig have released a video for that excellent song Maid Of The Mist
they're currently on tour through Europe and they're swinging through the UK in a
couple of weeks all throughout October really looking forward seeing them
perform songs like this from their debut album Swear I'm Good At This which just
came out earlier this year their live shows by all accounts are a very
energetic, positive and uplifting experience so I'm really looking forward
to experiencing it firsthand because I've never seen them before
Tigercub released a new song Into The Ashes it's from an EP Evolve Or Die
which is out day follow us on from that excellent
debut album Abstract Figures In The Dark which came out late last year on Alcopop
Records really great album and this kind of retains that dark sound they explored
on that, maybe goes even darker than some of the songs on that really good see
them not resting on their laurels and releasing new music kind of straight off
the back of that really cool songs really good if you're a fan of bands
like kind of Queens the Stone Age the really dark parts that and they
toured with Royal Blood recently played some shows of them so maybe if you're into
that as well. And experimental emo band From Indian Lakes released a new song
I Feel It On The Back Of My Neck this is a 7/4 time banger so if you are
into experimental stuff and emo then this probably for you kind of reminds me
of some of the moments on that new Balance and Composure album some of the
weirder moments on Light We Made really cool track definitely check it out it's
gonna be on a 7-inch single which will be out on the 1st of November
Single Mothers released a video for their excellent song Leash from their second
album Our Pleasure which came out earlier this year on Dine Alone Records
and Big Scary Monsters here in the UK the band are currently on tour with Touche Amore
in North America, what a tour jealous it's not coming here, but Single
Mothers are doing a headline tour here in the UK in November and Iron Chic
release new song A Headache With Pictures it's from their new album You
Can't Stay Here out October the 13th on SideOneDummy Records. Some really cool
tours got announced here in the UK this week first of all Apologies, I have none
and Kamikaze Girls are doing a tour in December
- excellent UK bands definitely get down to this if their touring near you also in
December Cloud Nothings are touring with The Hotelier in support the last time
I saw The Hotelier it was the best I've ever seen them so really looking forward
to seeing them again probably the two best bands in the UK to have not
released an album yet Muskets and Wallflower are touring together in
October, what a combination co-headline tour
unfortunately they're not playing within a hundred miles of Manchester but you
know, the rest of the country enjoy, and shoegaze band Night Swimming and Pinky are
doing a weekender together in November and one last thing before I go, I don't
normally mention live sessions but if you're as excited for the new Aitizen
album As You Please as I am, they've been doing live sessions from
their studio, Will Yip's studio: Studio 4. The videos are incredible they're
straight back versions of some of their songs so far they've released Jet and In The
Middle Of It All absolutely brilliant versions of these songs really shows off
their ability and Mat Kerekes the the vocalist's just sheer incredible voice
and musicality definitely go check them out on the Run For Cover YouTube. That
album is out next week, so excited, they're also playing the UK next week
which I'm so stoked for and that's it thank you so much for watching please
hit that subscribe button or like the page if you're not already, like the
video leave a comment below what do you think about reissues and also what is
your favorite release of this week thanks so much for watching guys have a
great weekend whatever you do but for now Thank Punk It's Friday all right

NEUROSCIENTIST EXPLAINS HOW ORGASMS CAN BE USED TO REACH AN 'ALT - Duration: 5:22.
NEUROSCIENTIST EXPLAINS HOW ORGASMS CAN BE USED TO REACH AN ALTERED STATE OF CONSCIOUSNESS
When it comes to sex and sexual pleasure, it seems like there is always something new
to be learned.
The realm of sex has perplexed humans for many decades, probably due to the growing
evidence of a deeper connection being made with ourselves and our partner.
The desire for a deeper connection provides further proof to our obsession to know more
about how the functions of sex affect our connectedness with self, and others.
The Study
Neuroscientist Adam Safron of Northwestern University explains, sex is a source of
pleasurable sensations and emotional connection, but beyond that, its actually an altered
state of consciousness.
In an article published in Socioaffective Neuroscience & Psychology, Victoria Klimaj
and Adam Safron delve into unlocking the mystery of the orgasm.
The conditions shaping sexual climax may be particularly complex in humans, whose sexual
behaviour is characterized by cultural shaping, abstract goals, and frequent non-reproductive
motivations.
They concluded their research with the help of a number of scientists who are experts
in the study of the orgasm.
These contributors are evolutionary psychologists, animal behaviour experts, fMRI researchers,
and investigators specializing in the analysis of large-scale surveys.
Dr. Safron has learned that a rhythmic stimulation alters brain activity.
When we are sexually stimulated, our neurons focus in a particular way that its hypnotizing,
and we block out everything we are usually conscious of like noises, feelings and smells,
and concentrate intensely on sensation alone.
This level of concentration cannot be achieved through any other natural stimulation.
Our self-awareness is essentially gone in that moment.
Sex is a source of pleasurable sensations and emotional connection, but beyond that,
its actually an altered state of consciousness, Dr. Safron explains.
Dr. Safron investigated this trance by creating a europhenomenological model that displayed
which rhythmic sexual activity likely influences brain rhythms.
The model showed that our neurons can be focused by stimulating particular nerves in a particular
way at a particular speed.
When they begin to synchronize their activity, neural entrainment is achieved and if stimulation
proceeds for a longer length of time, the synchronization spreads throughout the brain
enabling us to become more focused than ever.
Before this paper, we knew what lit up in the brain when people had orgasms, and
we knew a lot about the hormonal and neurochemical factors in non-human animals, but we didnt
really know why sex and orgasm feel the way they do, Dr. Safron said.
Why Rhythm Plays A Crucial Role
The study revealed a common theme: sexual climax, seizures, music, and dance all flood
the brains sensory channels with rhythmic inputs.
Dr. Safron believes that because sexual activity is so similar to music and dance, the rhythm-keeping
ability may serve as a test of fitness for potential mates.
Synchronization is important for signal propagation in the brain, because neurons
are more likely to fire if they are stimulated multiple times within a narrow window of time,
says Dr. Safron.
This led Dr. Safron to hypothesize that rhythmic entrainment is the primary mechanism by which
orgasmic thresholds are surpassed.
The idea that sexual experiences can be like trance states is in some ways ancient.
Turns out this idea is supported by modern understandings of neuroscience, says Dr.
Safron.
This constant rhythmic stimulation is very similar to the practices preached by 46-year-old
Nicole Daedone of OM or Orgasmic Meditation.
The technique is a sequenced practice in which one partner gently strokes the other partners
clitoris for 15 minutes.
The result is said to be therapeutic, rather than sexual.
The stroking allegedly activates the limbic system and releases a flood of oxytocin.
This whole practice reiterates the idea that in order to fully achieve orgasm (or anything
else of substance in life) you must actively engage in being present and release the pressure
we allow society to instil within us.
When we surrender to the universe and in this instance, our feeling, we enter into a world
of bountiful possibility.
