(soft, upbeat music)
- I am Alissa and I'm a Nurse Practitioner.
- And I'm Elsey and I'm a dietician,
here at Iowa Weight Loss Specialists.
- So, follow up appointments are so important because
we can't tackle everything in one visit.
The small, short term goals are great,
but we need to add to that or address other things
that maybe we didn't get to on the previous visit.
And that's really a lot of the nutritional education
piece, because things come up along the way and
a lot of times I'll have people write down questions
when they're away, like, "Agave, is that healthy?"
Things in the store, that they see, that they might
have questions about, they can come back and ask us.
The other really important reason
for follow up is the scale.
Seeing what the weight is doing, seeing
what the body composition is doing,
those are all really important things.
Or, if they're struggling with something different.
Maybe if they start eating breakfast and then they're
hungry, how can we address that?
So, there's just so many different factors
that come into play, whether it's not nutritional
knowledge, hormones, medications.
So, there's always things to be following up on.
