Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday expressed grief and condolences over the death of veteran

bollywood personality Tom Alter, who passed away in Mumbai after losing his battle with

skin cancer.

Alter was battling stage four skin cancer at a Mumbai hospital, where he was admitted

earlier in September.

He returned home on Thursday and breathed his last on Friday night.

He was 67 years of age.

In 2008, Tom Alter was conferred with the Padma Shree, the fourth highest civilian award

of India.

Born in the hill station of Mussoorie in 1950, Alter was a third-generation American in India

who studied at Woodstock School in the Himalayas and then briefly at Yale University in the

USA, before returning to India in the early 70s.

In 1972, he was one of three men - the others being Benjamin Gilani and Phunsok Ladakhi

- chosen from over 800 applicants across north India to be enrolled in at the prestigious

Film and Television Institute of India in Pune, where two years later he graduated with

a gold medal diploma in acting.

Tori Kelly Is Engaged: 'Should've Been Us' Singer & Pro Athlete André Murillo

Getting Married

OMG!

Tori Kelly and her fella Andre Murillo just decided to make it official!

Here's all the adorable details on their engagement and a pic of the ring!

Another Hollywood couple is headed down the aisle!

This time it's hitmaker Tori Kelly, 24, and her basketball player beau Andre Murillo,

27, who just got engaged!

The cute couple made the announcement with an Instagram post.

The "Should've Been Us" singer shared a black-and-white still of herself covering

her shocked face as her hunky fiance happily stands behind her.

And on her left hand is a giant sparkler!

"I love you," she captioned the image.

Aww!

Although these two are pretty private, we do know they've only been a item since Dec.

of 2016, according to E! News.

Considering it's been less than a year since this romance began, should we expect a shorter

engagement from these two!?

Also, are we even going to know when they tie the knot!?

We certainly hope so after sharing this touching photo with fans!

So many questions!

The gorgeous songwriter has already had a whirlwind 2017 including loads of new collabs

with Chris Lane, 32, and performing at the Hand-In-Hand benefit concert on Sept. 12 where

she and Luis Fonsi, 39, delivered a stirring bilingual rendition of "Hallelujah."

Tori has been very forthright about her faith in the past, so we're betting she and Andre

will opt for a more traditional ceremony.

Let the guessing game begin on who will be dropping by to perform after the nuptials!

We're hoping it's a cavalcade of stars!

But for now, we'll just have to wait and see.

Congrats, you two

RUSSIA AND THE US WILL BUILD A DEEP SPACE GATEWAY ORBITING THE M - Duration: 4:02.

RUSSIA AND THE US WILL BUILD A DEEP SPACE GATEWAY ORBITING THE MOON

The United States and Russia will work together on building A Moon Base.

There have been lots of rumors going around that Russia and the US are going to join forces

to build a lunar base.

Roscosmos, the head of the space organization, along with NASA have now revealed a partnership

agreement, and they said that both countries have the same common vision for human exploration.

LUNAR ORBIT BUILDING TO START BY 2020 They said that the US and Russia are going to cooperate

on a Moon program and they gave the name Deep Space Gateway a mention specifically.

This is the base that NASA has been planning on building in lunar orbit and they plan on

doing so by 2020.

The release from the two set a 2020 goal as the start of the project.

The press release also stated other internal partners are now considering signing into

the lunar base project.

The statement to come from Roscosmos outlined a plan in rough for the creation of international

technical standards for the space station on the Moon.

It talked about life support systems along with docking ports that will have the base

of a design by the Russians.

This is down to the fact that the Russians have a great deal more experience in regards

to the running of a space station along with the life support systems on-board the ISS

being in the Zvezda Russian section.

US WANTED TO WORK WITH RUSSIA FROM THE START At the moment the ISS has ports that are different

from the multiple vehicles that are docked within it.

The Russian Soyuz capsule makes use of a docking port that has a different style than that

of the space shuttle.

The US had to put in adapters so as to convert the Shuttle docking ports along with allowing

private crafts such as the SpaceX Dragon to connect with them.

The US said that the wanted to work with the Russians from the start instead of carrying

out plans of their own and then getting the Russian on-board at the last minute.

NASA is relying on the heavy lift rocket by the name of SLS when it comes to building

the Deep Space Gateway, however, they are only going to launch it once a year and this

is something that really does not seem to be all that feasible.

However, the statement from Roscosmos has shed some light on that as the rockets of

Russia are going to help with construction.

US AND RUSSIA WILL WORK TOGETHER DESPITE TENSIONS The US and Russia working together is a big

deal, for a lot of reasons as they are working as one even though there is a great deal of

tension between them.

It may mean that the countries will be less likely to turn to hostilities outright.

The aims of NASA have not been very clear up to this point and havent been for a

long time.

They did reveal goals that are very ambitious but they did not have a plan that was clear

on just how they achieved it and without any budget to be able to support it.

The organization has slowly been scaling back since that time, however, thanks to international

agreement with cooperation it does now look like the Deep Space Gateway is really going

to happen.

Due to this they have international partners and so Congress might not cancel the project,

bear in mind that the International Space Station managed to get passed with just one

single vote.

Joel Schumacher's 1990 schlocksterpiece "Flatliners" was perhaps most notable for taking a silly but strangely compelling premise (a gang of sexy, thrill-seeking medical students who intentionally "flatline" to experience a little slice of death) as well as a stacked cast of young talent (Julia Roberts, Kiefer Sutherland, Kevin Bacon), and somehow doing nothing much of note with either of them.

So say this much for director Niels Arden Oplev's decent-looking yet deadly dull remake – it's nothing if not faithful to the original. About as inessential as reboots get, "Flatliners" finds a replacement cast of equally overqualified actors, and beefs up its depictions of the afterlife with some updated visual effects, but otherwise offers no reason for reanimating this long-expired property.

Taking over Sutherland's old role is Ellen Page, who stars as Courtney, a serious medical student for whom a childhood tragedy has prompted an interest in the afterlife.

Discovering an unused basement facility beneath the hospital where she's a medical resident, and perhaps moved by the tough-love motivations of her cranky professor (Sutherland, appearing for purely meta reasons), she hatches a plan to research brain activity after death by using herself as a test subject.

The film doesn't waste much time exploring what pushed this promising future doctor to risk her life in the name of nebulous research.

LATEST INDIAN DEFENCE NEWS 2017,India to buy U.S drones to counter china by indian defense news. - Duration: 5:30.

INDIA WANTS TO BUY U.S. DRONES TO MONITOR AN ENCROACHING CHINA,New Delhi is expected

to purchase two dozen unarmed drones from the United States to monitor growing Chinese

activity in the Indian Ocean.

President Donald Trump's administration authorized the sale in June, with the price tag estimated

at $3 billion, according to defense researcher Jane's by IHS Markit.

The U.S. approval was the first such clearance to a friendly, non-NATO nation, but the transaction

has yet to be finalized and was a key topic of discussion during General James Mattis'

visit to India this week.

Manufactured by American defence contractor General Atomics, the unmanned devices— called

Guardians — are "the world's most advanced maritime reconnaissance drones and can help

India track the movement of Chinese warships with its multi-mode maritime radar," said

Harsh Pant, head of the strategic studies program at the Observer Research Foundation,

a New Delhi-based think tank.

Privately held General Atomics makes the drone in question as a maritime variant of its Reaper

unmanned vehicle.

China Moves Into Indian Ocean

The world's second-largest economy has ratcheted up maritime patrols around the Indian Ocean,

which is home to seaborne routes crucial to global trade as well as a major U.S. military

base.

The mainland has also built up a presence in other countries around the region.

July saw Beijing establish its first overseas naval base in Djibouti, located on the ocean's

northwestern side.

That same month, state-owned China Merchant Port Holdings acquired Sri Lanka's Hambantota

Port, which juts out into the strategic waterway, in a move expected to facilitate Chinese naval

deployments.

It's a similar story in Bangladesh, where state-owned enterprise China Harbour Engineering

Company bought a majority stake in Payra Port, located at the southern-most tip of the country.

The mainland is also looking to take an 85 percent stake in Myanmar's deep sea port of

Kyauk Pyu on the Bay of Bengal, according to reports.

Occurring right in India's backyard, these projects — part of China's massive "Belt

and Road" infrastructure program — are a worrying development for New Delhi, which

has long held sway as the region's major power and comes just weeks following the end of

a Sino-Indian border dispute in the Himalayas.

As a result of increasing Chinese influence, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government

has been taking steps to boost its capabilities in the Indian Ocean, reflected by initiatives

such as the Guardian drone purchase.

All that comes amid Beijing's use of underwater drones in the South China Sea, a separate

body of water where President Xi Jinping's administration is trying to enforce a tremendous,

1.4-million square mile claim despite losing a legal case on that claim last year.

"Unmanned vehicles, like those whose sale has been proposed by the United States, would

allow India to monitor activities in the region much better ... Clearly, there are concerns

about the militarisation of the Indian Ocean, including the increased presence of China's

People's Liberation Army Navy," explained Dhruva Jaishankar, foreign policy fellow at

Brookings India.

Those worries are shared by the White House, which remains wary of China's intentions in

the Asian region.

Speaking on Wednesday, General Joseph Dunford, chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff,

said a security relationship with New Delhi was critical to ensuring freedom of navigation

in the Indian Ocean.

China was the main factor behind Washington's approval of the Guardian drone sale, noted

Pant of the Observer Research Foundation.

India's air force has also requested for 90 armed Avenger Predator drones, also produced

by General Atomics, that many believe could be used for cross-border strikes on Pakistani

militants in the Kashmir conflict.

"Armed drones can be used for a number of functions, including counter-terrorism activities,"

said Jaishankar.

"The U.S. has used them quite effectively against groups in Pakistan and Afghanistan."

However, the sale of armed drones is subject to approval by U.S. Congress members who retain

concerns about intellectual property and the danger of misuse by third parties, Jaishankar

warned.

PROJECT ICEWORM - A TOP SECRET US UNDERGROUND CITY BENATH THE IC - Duration: 4:26.

PROJECT ICEWORM - A TOP-SECRET US UNDERGROUND CITY BENATH THE ICE OF THE ARCTIC

The Arctic is home to a secret underground city that may be a potential threat.

800 meters underneath the Ice in Greenland lies Camp Century, which was built there as

one part of a project that was kept top secret with the name of Iceworm.

The camp was built during the cold war between the USSR and US in 1959.

WHAT CAMP CENTURY WAS USED FOR WAS NOT MADE CLEAR TO DENMARK Camp Century was built at

this time to be a ballistic missile site; however, the real purpose of it was hidden

away from the government in Denmark.

Instead they were told that the camp was under construction to be used as a research center

where researchers would live when they were studying how feasible it would be to work

underneath the ice.

The city in the camp became a network of tunnels that ran underground which were incredible

and which stretched out more than three kilometers.

The camp provided accommodation for more than 200 soldiers and they had everything at their

disposal than a traditional city offered for them to live self-sufficiently.

The camp offered shops, laboratories, a hospital and a cinema and what was more astonishing

was the fact that the whole city was powered by what was the first portable nuclear generator

in the world.

PROJECT WAS ABANDONED IN 1967 DUE TO MOVING ICE The engineers quickly found out that the

project was not going to work as while the ice in the Arctic seems to be solid, it is

a viscoelastic substance made up of a combination of ice and snow that constantly moves around.

This ever constant movement of the snow and ice meant that the tunnels would warp and

often collapse.

In 1967 the camp was decommissioned and then it became abandoned.

The infrastructure along with the waste, which included waste that was radioactive and biological,

was left behind when the researchers left and so it became entombed underneath the ice.

At that time it was thought that it would stay that way forever.

ICE WILL MELT BY END OF CENTURY TO REVEAL TOXIC WASTE

In 2016 a study revealed that the sheet of ice that was covering the camp is going to

begin to melt by the end of the century and when this happens any waste that was left

behind buried under the ice is going to be able to enter into the environment.

A study revealed that between 2003 and 2010 the ice covering the land had melted twice

as fast as the ice had melted during the entire 20th century.

Researchers have studied documents of the US army to find out just how deep the camp

is and the amount of waste in it.

They came to the conclusion that there were about 200,000 liters of diesel fuel and wastewater

quantities that were similar along with amounts of toxic pollutants and radioactive coolants

in quantities that are unknown.

They then ran simulations of the global and regional climate change and came to the conclusion

that by 2090 the exposure is going to be unable to be reversed, perhaps quicker depending

on the magnitude of acceleration of the climate change.

When it does it will disrupt the ecosystems that are close by along with bringing about

new hazards.

Right now it is not clear as to who is going to have to take responsibility for the issue

and clean up the waste.

This waste that was buried so long ago could be the start of new political tensions between

Greenland and the United States.

The Pentagon has said that they do acknowledge there is a reality of climate change along

with the risk that this brings and said that the government in the US had pledged to work

alongside the Danish government and authorities in Greenland in order to settle any questions

of mutual security.

U.S. Border Agents Violating Privacy Rights With Warrantless Searches - Duration: 8:15.

What does a NASA engineer, a military veteran, and a journalist, and a college student all

have in common?

They've all been forced to hand over their laptops and smartphones without a warrant,

by Homeland Security officials when re-entering the United States.

Now, ten of these citizens are filing a federal class action lawsuit, saying their constitutional

rights were violated.

Joining me now to discuss this, in RT New York, correspondent Trinity Chavez.

Trinity, thanks for coming.

What does this lawsuit allege?

What are the violations?

What's the background or the cornerstone of this lawsuit?

The Electronic Frontier Foundation and the American Civil Liberties Union filed a lawsuit

earlier this month, against the Department of Homeland Security for warrantless border

searches.

The lawsuit alleges that Homeland Security officers violated the plaintiffs fourth amendment

rights when the agents searched, in some cases confiscated their devices without a warrant

at all, like their phones and their laptops.

The two organizations will represent ten US residents, who they say are law-abiding US

citizens who are Muslim or people of color.

They were re-entering the United States from either business or personal travel, when they

all had their computers and smartphones searched, when none of them were accused of doing anything

wrong.

These plaintiffs are students, are journalists, one was even a military vet, and another one

worked for NASA when this all happened.

Some of these individuals had their phones held by border officers for months, even though

they weren't accused of a specific crime.

Under the US Constitution, the fourth amendment prohibits unreasonable searches and seizures,

and requires law enforcement to have warrants.

But courts however, have made exceptions for the searches at US ports of entry, like at

the airport, and have ruled that the government can do warrantless border searches to enforce

immigration and custom laws, to protect national security.

But since Trump has taken office and implemented his travel ban, concerns of racial profiling

and stereotyping have really become more of an issue, along with violation of one's human

rights, and especially in today's society, where we are living in the digital age, our

phones and our computers have a vast amount of personal information on them.

We're talking about pictures, videos, emails, and private text messages, even applications

that store credit card information, health information, so the level of personal information

is really unbelievable.

One plaintiff, Akram Shibly, who had their phone searched, called the ordeal a gross

violation of his human rights.

Let's go back to the NASA engineer, his name was Sidd Bikkannavar.

He works for NASA in jet propulsion laboratories, an employee.

He was subject to one of these searches.

What's the full story and the background on the NASA employee's case.

This plaintiff is an Indian origin Muslim, who is a scientist for NASA.

He designs technology for space telescopes.

In this case, he was on his way back from vacation in Chile, in February.

When he returned to the US, it was just days after the signing of the travel ban, when

a customs and border protection agent in the Houston airport pressured him to unlock his

phone by typing in his password, and forced to hand it over.

Bikkannavar is a natural-born citizen, and even had global entry, which is basically

pre-approved clearance to get you through customs quicker and easier.

Keep in mind, to join this program, you have to go through a thorough background check,

and even an in-person interview.

But regardless, he was escorted to an interview room and was forced to give up his phone.

The officer told him that they had to search his possessions to make sure that he wasn't

bringing anything dangerous into this country.

The officials had asked him everything from where he worked, where he was coming from,

and where he lives.

This is all information that the officer should have already had, since the plaintiff was

a part of the global entry program.

Bikkannavar had answered the questions and explained that he worked for NASA, and that

his phone was issued actually by NASA, it wasn't his own personal cellphone, so it may

contain sensitive information that wasn't meant to be shared.

But none of that mattered, he was still searched along with his device.

At one point, he even asked the officer why he was chosen to be searched and questioned,

but the officer didn't tell him, he just insisted that he had the legal authority to do this.

The border officer had his phone for a half an hour, before he finally gave it back to

him, saying that he had been searching his phone using algorithms.

Bikkannavar had not known what information that the officials might have taken from his

device, so that is still unknown.

Trinity, to me, from an outsider looking in, this certainly does look like these are people

with the wrong skin color, and the wrong names, and are getting just picked out of line based

on profile issues.

Is there a legitimate basis for US border officers searching their phones and their

persons, and doing these extensive background checks, or is this just look like racial profiling?

It gets complicated because the government is initially, seemingly so, trying to protect

the US from terrorism and things of that nature.

But this isn't a new protocol, this is something that they have been really kind of going for,

for the last few years, but this has become more of an issue recently.

Officials say that the electronics searches began late in the Bush administration, but

CBP officers have cracked down on these inspections this year, since Trump has implemented the

travel ban.

People can be searched based on a number of different reasons.

According to the guidelines though, on the CBP website, you could be subjected to inspections

because your travel documents are incomplete, or you don't have the proper documents or

visa.

You may also have previously violated one of the laws that CBP enforces, or even if

you have a name that matches a person of interest in their database.

There are several different reasons that may apply to a person.

One thing is how they even know that these are people of interest, or if their documents

are incorrect.

How do they know that without initiating the conversation with these travelers?

As far as the people's phones go, travelers are not legally required to unlock their phones

or devices, but border agents are known to detain individuals for long periods of time

when they don't cooperate, so that's why people feel pressured to give them the passwords

to their phones.

Just like in Bikkannavar's case, where he was not allowed to leave until he gave the

agents the passcode to unlock his phone.

So you hold him hostage until you give the password, I mean we're not talking about looking

at travel dockets, you're looking in phones, they're looking at laptops.

So in addition to not having any warrant to search through someone's private information,

what hazards are posed to citizens if their emails, text messages, as you mentioned, photos,

they can all be searched by authorities like they have been?

Yeah, absolutely.

To really pinpoint the exact racial make-up of the individuals who are being targeted,

and who are getting inspected, gets a little tricky.

That information hasn't been released by the CBP, but what I can tell you is that the ACLU

reported that the amount of searches at border patrol have spiked recently.

According to the data on the CBP site, the number of searches grew from 8,503 in 2015

to 19,033 in 2016.

That's an increase of almost 125%, and officers have already carried out nearly 15,000 searches

just this year, between January and June, which puts the CBP on track to conduct about

30,000 searches for the year.

But the government has said that those searches happen to fewer than one hundredth of 1% of

international travelers, and that they are authorized by some laws that allow border

agents to look through suitcases without a judge's approval, and those are the same laws

they are using to search peoples' devices.

Trinity, thank you for joining us today.

Trump Admin To Start Collecting Data on ALL Immigrants In U.S. - Duration: 3:28.

Last week, the Department of Homeland Security published a new rule in the Federal Register

that would allow the Department of Homeland Security to gather up all of the social media

information on all, all, A-L-L immigrants in the United States, including those that

are already naturalized U.S. Citizens.

This rule is not a proposal.

This rule is something that is set to go into effect.

In fact, it's going to go into effect on October 18th.

Starting on October 18th, the Department of Homeland Security can go through and gather

and document all the information on your Facebook page or on your Twitter feed.

If you're one of the people that has LinkedIn or Google Plus, they're probably going to

look at those too.

They might have to create a login to get in there, but they're going to pull it.

This is a gross violation of our Constitutional rights as U.S. citizens, because keep in mind,

this isn't just about people who come over here and visit the United States and are trying

to become citizens.

To an extent, it would make sense, to make sure they're not a threat.

Maybe scroll through their Facebook feed just to be sure, but don't document it.

You don't need to keep records of it.

You just need to vet a little better.

However, the people that are already here that are already naturalized citizens, they

are protected 100% by that United States Constitution.

This kind of data breach, this kind of data grab, I should say, is absolutely illegal.

You cannot, as a federal law enforcement agency, go through somebody's social media and use

that information in any kind of way against that person, whether or not it's to throw

them in jail or deny them citizenship or attempt to deport them.

That is illegal.

Unfortunately, legality doesn't exactly matter to the Trump administration, who is calling

the shots here.

They'll do whatever it takes in their war against immigrants.

They understand that the majority of people who come into this country are not bad people,

the vast majority of them.

In fact, the crime rate among immigrants is actually lower than that of regular U.S. citizens,

but don't tell that to Donald Trump.

No, because according to him they're all coming over here to rape and murder us.

He literally said that.

He said that in his opening speech when he announced he was even running for president.

This has to stop.

These are not bad people.

These are very good people seeking a better life for themselves or their family or whoever

it is.

They just want to do better.

Yeah, if you think someone might be bad, if you have reasonable suspicion, scroll through

the Facebook feed, but you don't document it, you don't use that as something against

them, but that is exactly what they're trying to do.

This is a gross breach of our privacy by them using our social media outlets as a weapon

to help with their mass deportations.
