The one thing Liverpool and Chelsea have in common with Newport County REVEALED - Duration: 2:59.

But their efforts saw them go alongside Liverpool and Chelsea in one surprise stat

The underdogs put in a spirited performance and could hold their heads high that they held their own at times against the best team in the country

It took the Premier League champions until the 51st minute to open the scoring, when Leroy Sane blasted them ahead despite the best efforts of goalkeeper Joe Day

The lead was then doubled by Phil Foden who weaved past Dan Butler before firing in at the near post

County then grabbed a famous goal with just a few minutes remaining. A long ball caused havoc in the City defence before Padraig Amond snuck in between Aymeric Laporte and Nicolas Otamendi to lob Ederson

England youngster Foden kept nerves to a minimum though when he quickly restored the two-goal advantage with a well taken solo effort

Riyad Mahrez added a fourth when he cut in from the left to smash the ball home to complete a crazy finish to the match

But despite the defeat, Newport have a reason to be proud. Opta Joe revealed after the game that the League Two outfit are only the fifth different team to stop Manchester City scoring in the first half of a match this season

They are in good company too. Lyon have done it twice while Chelsea, Liverpool and Wolves have also managed to keep a clean sheet in the opening 45 minutes

Foden explained after the match that his team mates found the conditions to be really testing

"It was a difficult pitch and we kept playing our football and our quality shone through," he told BBC MOTD

"It's always special when I score for the club I have always supported. I try and get as many as I can

"The opponents got tired and the space started opening up and the chances came and we managed to take them

Our defenders dealt with every ball well today and we showed our quality on a difficult pitch

"We scored straight after they did and it is always good to take the pressure off and get the goal

"Everything is going well at the moment and we can definitely win every competition but it is going to be difficult

I'm trying to take my opportunities as they come."

News24 - Manchester United have made approach to Borussia Dortmund for Jadon Sancho - Duration: 3:49.

Jadon Sancho's decision to leave Manchester City for Borussia Dortmund in August 2017 has paid dividends for the English starlet

The 18-year-old has become a household name in Europe thanks to his eye-catching performances in the Bundesliga, scoring eight goals and registering 10 assists in 28 matches this season, while he's also made three appearances for England

Would Sancho have played as many senior games had he stayed with City? Would his reputation be as high as it currently is without that move to the Westfalenstadion? Would he have even made his international debut? In truth, it's unlikely

Compare Sancho's meteoric rise to superstardom to Phil Foden's current situation, an immensely gifted 18-year-old midfielder who is yet to make his senior England debut because he doesn't play enough for Man City

Foden wears the number 47 shirt for City and makes the odd cameo in league matches here and there

Sancho wears the number seven shirt for Dortmund and is one of the first names on the teamsheet every week

Sancho admitted in his post-match interview with BT Sport after Dortmund's 3-0 defeat against Tottenham earlier this week that he loved the feeling of playing football back in England, in front of his friends at family at Wembley

And Manchester United will give him the opportunity to return to the Premier League permanently this summer, according to an exclusive report from The Sun's Neil Custis, who understands the Red Devils have made a 'shock approach' for the teenager

The report adds United have been quoted £70 million to sign the winger, who spent almost two-and-a-half years in Man City's youth academy prior to his £8 million move to Dortmund

Due to a clause in his contract, 15 per cent of any transfer fee would go directly to City

But you suspect that wouldn't bother United if they secure the services of a player Rio Ferdinand believes will become the best English footballer in the near future

"No goals but I've seen Jadon Sancho – I'm just happy to be watching. I've been up screaming and dancing," Ferdinand said after the youngster's impressive first-half display against Spurs

"An 18-year-old scaring the life out of seasoned Premier League players. I love it

I think he'll be the best English player in the coming years.  "Every time he gets the ball he has the respect of defenders before it's been kicked

The defender knows he's going past him it's just a matter of how.  "It's unbelievable to see

He doesn't stand still, he moves again."  Check out his impressive highlights from that match here…  Ferdinand, a passionate Man Utd fan, could very well be screaming and dancing for Sancho at Old Trafford next season - along with the rest of the club's supporters

How Much Wealth Does Fethullah Gulen's Family Have? - Sibgatullah Gulen (with English Subtitles) - Duration: 11:33.

The sadness that caused by the recent events...

Gave Hocaefendi very hard times.

I heard that sons have talked to him this morning.

His tension got high this morning again.

He had some little illnesses.

Probably because of stress.

May Allah give the ones who sadden him the sense of mercy.

We don't say anything bad, May Allah give them the sense of mercy

What can we say...

If we say anything bad,

There will be no effect to them but just our sins will increase.

If we say good things and they become better somehow, at least our sins may decrease.

We wish our prayers to help them to open their eyes.

And we cannot say anything more.

We don't acknowledge hate and anger which are the compounds of unbelief and rebellion!

We removed them from our dictionaries!

We don't want to look at it and see it!

We hate hatred and...

...we condemn hostility!

We say nothing but love and loving!

And in such atmosphere and happiness,

...WE WANT TO BUILD A NEW WORLD!

This world will not be built with firing guns and exploding bombs!

We will build this world with raising our humility!

With focusing on development of our manners!

With giving ourselves the opportunity of exploring deeply about our inner spirituality and to conquer our hearts!

We entered this way of cause by saying "Love"!

We couldn't have entered there with any other way, indeed!

Because Our Beloved Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)entered this way of cause by saying "Love"!

Speaking of visiting Hocaefendi,

I went to USA. My son who lives there took me from the airport.

It was Ramadan time. We went to my son's house, it was afternoon.

We were going to have iftar there. But only think I could think was to go and see Hocaefendi.

We had our dinner and went to Hocaefendi's place.

Entered the place that Hocaefendi is staying.

Isha time.

Hocaefendi was walking along the corridor to get to the saloon for isha prayer.

Right at the moment that he stepped out from his place, I stepped in from the outside gate.

He stopped for a moment like this,

And said: " Waah, Sir Sibgat..." I ran to him directly.

He had never hugged me like that.

How he hugged me... strong with his two hands.

I had to seize the opportunity, I also hugged him strong.

We consoled our longing that way.

For 40 or 50 years, I have been visiting him but, it's the first time he hugged me such.

But this time, it'd been 4 years since we've last seen each other.

During that time, we talked on camera several times but,

But we did not meet for real during that time.

We couldn't go to each other for 4 years.

Thanks to My God.

He hugged me tight. I thought "Okay, My Ustad embraced me like this, now nothing happens to me anymore inshaallah."

This time, it was like that, when we first saw each other.

And once, while leaving...

He cried. When I was leaving there that time.

He went out of the place he lives.

Went further then the parking lot.

By walk,

To do a farewell to me.

Every time I was leaving there, he definitely would accompany me there outside.

This time, at his place, I just kissed his hands and asked for excuse to leave.

Because I was going to leave the next day.

I told that I will visit the children and the grandchildren there. He said "Okay. You may leave after visiting them."

The first meeting was very close, but this time he had his farewell just inside the building.

Didn't go out this time.

Just in the building, he said farewell, take care.

Then I kissed his hand.

Of course he doesn't give his hand. I have never seen him giving his hand.

Once, I begged, cried, he said "Don't play with me, I won't give my hand."

Allah,

May Allah give him health and long life.

Once I said this he said, "Only if it is good for me if not, may He not give."

I had said to his face:

"We always pray for you, for Him to give you long, long life and health.

But he said, "Only if it is good for me."

If not, may He not give.

Inshallah I wish he has a long life and health.

May He give him comfort and peace.

When this events arised,

The people who talked against Hocaefendi made me cry.

I actually cried for them.

How can such a thing happen?

We didn't expect anything like this

Beleive me, still, I feel sad for them..

I don't feel sad for Hocaefendi.

Hocaefendi had already said 50-60 ago, "I am the traveler of this path,...

...I am ready to face everything."

Whatever they say, they don't affect Hocaefendi even a bit.

Of course it makes him sad somehow but not for himself.

For example, there are times that he had been wanted all over the country, and the times that he spent time in jail.

I assure you, even in those times, he didn't feel this much sorrow for himself.

When he was in custody,

I had brought a coat for him, he didn't accept.

He said that "I can get along with my coat."

That time he didn't feel sad.

But now, if he is sad, it is for the people around him.

Thinking that "What if people around me will get hurt?"

I don't mean the people from his family.

The ones who are so connected to him with love and loyalty,...

...And who has sacrificed everything they have in the way that Hocaefendi showed them, for the sake of Allah.

I am sure about that he is not sad for himself and not sad for his family as well.

Because - thank God and all praise be to God - up until now,...

...Thousands times thanks and praises be to my God that...

...Any of our children,...

...Anyone among Hocaefendi's siblings,...

...And any close relative of us never ever had an act which might have caused Hocaefendi's face to get blushed and him to be ashamed.

Thousand thanks to my Allah-

We even haven't been to a police station for giving statement.

Speaking of Politics, we haven't even tend to have the governorship of a district, nor a building manager-ship.

We didn't think of those

Because those things have responsibilities. We might not be able to handle it.

We even didn't tend to a nominating for a village chief candidacy.

Because they will say that we are politicians, etc.

Among the politicians from the time of old government, and current government

I took offers for some positions for Erzurum.

They offered me the position of municipal board. If I had asked maybe they would have let me be a congressman, either.

We will give your name for the candidate of Position of municipal board.

They said that "Be a candidate for that place. In that place you will win the election.

I swear to God, I rejected them.

I said to them "No, we can't have such a thing. Our Ustad said, "I seek refuge God from the politics."

Told them that we can't involve the politics.

I rejected.

It doesn't matter what people say nowadays.

If I do such a thing without Hocaefendi's knowledge, Hocaefendi would reject me in the first place.

Why?

Before, one of our close relatives,

Himself requested to be the candidate to be a congressman of a party and they were going to let him run for it.

Hocaefendi called me,

Look, Sir Sibgat, No one of us should involve the politics.

Of course The recent issues make us so sad.

One may think a lot kind of things to say.

I know so many bad words, sayings from our hometown, Erzurum.

But I heard that

Our Hocaefendi told wherever he went, "Do not respond to them with the same way they do to you."

Since it is so, what we do is to keep silence, we don't respond that way.

Whatever they say, they say anyway.

Actually a lot of investigations have been conducted on us.

A lot of things got checked. We were asked, if we have car, house...

In our family,

Two brothers have their own house.

This house has 3 years of land title.

Children had gotten credit from the bank to buy this house. And the old house was bought by the government for 17K $ as required confiscation.

So, actually I don't want to stay in a house like this.

Because this is contrary to Hocaefendi's principles.

But I was obliged to do this because of my this child.

I can't stay in an apartment because this child disturbs the neighbors.

That's why, sons said that there is this house, we can\t find any convenient one.

So, only my brother and I have our own house. Other siblings don't have their own houses.

And other than these two houses, official or non official, we don't have any other property.

There were farm lands inherited from our father, but we donated them to the foundation.

Foundation had its ownership.

Our ancestors had been serving to our country for centuries.

Had stood by our country.

We too are standing by our country.

It doesn't matter if we stand by the government or not.

Government is the one which left us.

We still wish their favour.

I still get sad too much for them because of what words they say.

I wish they hadn't told this kind of unfortunate words.

As our Hocaefendi advises us,

Be patient.

One day,

The sun will come up and wipe out all the darkness

This is all we hope for.

Vesselam. May Allah be pleased with you.

Chicago Police Have Just Demanded Jussie Smollett Come In As New Evidence Unfolds - Duration: 1:34.

It is getting close to being all over for "Empire" actor Jussie Smollett and his

scam.

Rafer Weigel, an Emmy award-winning anchor/reporter at Fox 32 Chicago, reported something shocking.

"Several #CPD sources confirmed detectives were able to show the 2 Nigerian brothers

questioned by police had purchased the rope found around Smollett's neck at an Ace hardware,"

he said.

"The brothers agreed to cooperate with police who are investigating whether Smollett made

up the story after police threatened to charge them with battery.

"The brothers attorney said both brothers knew Smollett.

There are unconfirmed reports that Smollett paid the two brothers to perform the alleged

scheme," he said.

But police still have to be careful before they charge someone with a crime.

".@Chicago Police say even after the Nigerian brothers release and despite 'new evidence'

from their interrogation #JussieSmollett is still being called a 'victim' in this

case," he said.

But as we were writing this story new news broke in the case which Weigel confirmed.

"Latest from @AJGuglielmi, Chicago police spokesman.

He just told me on the phone: 'After we spoke to the former suspects last night, detectives

reached out to Jussie Smolletts's attorneys and expressed interest that we need to talk

to him again,'" Sopan Deb of The New York Times reported.

The walls are now closing in on Smollett and his scam to defame MAGA supporters and gain

more fame for himself. Please take a moment and consider sharing this video with your

friends and family.

Thank you.

Jussie Smollett & # 39; Suspects & # 39; Lawyer says her clients have crucial evidence [Hot] - Duration: 2:24.

Jussie Smollett Advocate for suspects … My clients have key evidence 16.02.2014 07:55 PST The lawyer of the two men arrested and released in connection with the alleged attack on Jussie Smollett says the new evidence that changed the case told their clients to the police , Lawyer Gloria Schmidt was released on Friday night at the police station in Chicago after her clients Ola and Abel Osundairo were released from custody

Schmidt said the "new evidence" that triggered the release of their customers was something they knew and probably told police officers

Our photog asked Schmidt flatly if the "attack" had been staged, and she answered at an angle and said there were moving parts and she did not want to speculate

As we reported, Ola and Abel both worked on "Empire," and Abel was especially friends with Jussie

And something interesting. She did not answer why her clients went to Nigeria on the day of the alleged attack, but added that it was a "big question"

She said she did not want to speak for her clients because they had a story telling her "when the time is right"

This sounds clearly as if they had inside information about which went down in Jussie's house

Manchester derby date changed - and it could have huge impact on title race - Duration: 3:26.

Manchester City's Premier League visit to Manchester United has had to be rearranged following City's qualification for the FA Cup quarter-finals, and it could impact the title race

Pep Guardiola's side beat League Two's Newport County 4-1 on Saturday evening to advance into the last eight of the cup, which will take place on the weekend of Saturday March 16

The Manchester derby between United and City at Old Trafford had been due to take place on that date, with kick-off at 12

30pm.  But that fixture has now had to be rearranged, with the options for when to play it looking fairly limited due to other commitments

Read More Pep Guardiola takes swipe at Man Utd after City's FA Cup victory over Newport   Earlier this month City were able to bring their fixture at Everton forward by 18 days after reaching the Carabao Cup final

But that isn't possible now due to the lack of midweek slots available, with either City, United or both playing Premier League or Champions League fixtures in all midweeks between now and mid-March

After that there is an international break which starts the week beginning March 18, meaning that the earliest possible date for the fixture would be the week beginning April 1

If that is when the match falls, and Liverpool have won all six of their Premier League fixtures between now and then - a tough ask given that they include games with Manchester United and Tottenham - then City could go to Old Trafford under huge pressure in the title race

Presuming that they've won all of their four league games leading up to facing their rivals, they could end the match six points behind Liverpool with six games to play

Read More Man Utd staff 'split' over future of star amid summer transfer rumours  It has yet to be confirmed whether or not the match will take place on the week of April 1, but that looks to be the most likely option given that the following two midweeks will be unavailable should one of the Manchester pair - more likely to be City following United's 2-0 loss to PSG - reach the last eight of the Champions League

That would leave the week beginning April 22 as the next available slot.  City host title rivals Tottenham on the weekend of April 20, and as it stands will have just three fixtures remaining after that

Do You Ever Have Bad Days? - Duration: 4:34.

- So I had this question come in from Bill Buckholtz.

He says "Thank you, Jeff,

you really do add value every time you post.

So, do you every have bad days anymore?"

And, if the stuff I publish makes my life

look perfect, I can assure you that it's not.

I certainly have problems and challenges and complications

and life's not perfect. So, just because you have

successful business, just because you have a large income,

just because you have achieved some level of freedom

in your life, doesn't mean that challenges go away.

And so, I would say yes, I do have bad days.

But, I have spent a long time working on this

and I would say that it's very,

very rare for me to have bad days.

It's more common for me to have bad hours or bad minutes,

but the reality is that in almost every circumstance

the situation isn't nearly as bad

as you're making it in your brain.

You have immense amount of control

over how you react to a situation,

and when you start to take control over 'how do you react

to situations', then you stop having bad days

or have many, many, many fewer.

Is that right, did I get that right?

Many fewer?

So yeah, many fewer bad days.

It all comes down to framing,

it all comes down to training your brain.

I've started doing this in my late teens and early 20s,

I started going through this process of rewiring my brain

and I've been doing it intensely for the last 25 years.

I think, personally I think meditation is one

of the best ways you can get yourself

to be less reactive to bad things,

to negative things happening.

I think gratitude is an amazing practice.

I was just listening to Sam Harris and he was talking

about a time he had dinner with his family,

and he said they were all sittin' around and no one

was in a great mood, everyone was a bit disgruntled,

just wasn't great energy in the room.

Somehow he reflected,

he's like, "If I had actually passed away,

if I had died the day before that dinner happened,

what would I have given to be at that dinner?

How much would I have savored

being with my loved ones in that situation?"

And you know the thing is, almost every situation

has the seeds of something great in it.

Almost every situation, every negative situation,

every complication, every bit of chaos

has the seeds of an incredible learning in it,

of incredible growth in it. If you just look back

at the difficult times in your lives, how many times

has that been something that allowed you to grow?

That allowed something to open up?

So these are the types of games I play in my head.

And sure it's easy enough to say, "Oh you should just

think positive, be positive, be happy."

And you hear someone saying that kind of stuff

and you just wanna punch 'em in the face, right?

You're sick of hearing that kinda stuff.

But, it's so true, you're in control of your reaction.

You're not in control of every situation in your life.

And even when you have the kind of business I have,

when you've achieved the kind of success I've had,

the kind of freedom I've had,

and the kind of income I've had,

you're still not in control of everything.

The world is going to throw stuff at you.

There will be problems, there will be complications.

There is chaos, there's chaos everyday in my life.

But I've learned to just deal with it,

to frame it as something ... to define the positive.

To know that I faced challenge after challenge

after challenge for all these years

and that I'm gonna be able to get through the next one.

That if I'm stuck in traffic

and I'm late for an appointment,

that it's not the worst thing that's ever happened.

There are far worse things that could happen to me.

And so, yeah I have bad days but it's incredibly rare.

The reason it's rare is not because I have

a successful business or a big income.

The reason it's rare is that I've put in a lot of work

to train my brain to turn the situations around.

So I'm Jeff Walker, wherever you're watching this,

scroll down, leave a comment for me,

and let's go get 'em this week.

Two teenagers, 13 and 15, have been expelled after their mother refused to have them vaccinated - Duration: 7:00.

Two upstate New York teenagers who didn't attend school for more than two months because they hadn't been vaccinated have now been expelled, their mother revealed on Thursday

The sisters, 13 and 15, from Buffalo, previously attended schools in West Seneca for several years and say their refusal to be vaccinated on grounds of their religious beliefs never caused issue

But now, having moved to the the Orchard Park School District (OPSD) only last year, their mother Marina Williams says the girls' right to religious exemption has been denied and they haven't attended school for months as a result

The girls have now reportedly been expelled indefinitely by the district, Williams said

The family now plan to take the OPSD to court.'They simply told these kids you're out of the district – we're giving you no services and if you show up on school grounds, we are going to arrest you for trespass – that's what they said,' claims Frank Housh, the family's attorney

'This isn't a vaccination lawsuit and my client is not an anti-vaxxer.The issue here is she is seeking to avail herself of a religious exception

' Housh added the family has opted again immunizations for 'generations'.The two teenagers had been suspended off the school's books in the fall after repeatedly refusing to be vaccinated

The OPSD rejected William's request of religious exemption, and told the children not to return until they'd had the injections

'It's against our belief system for foreign substances such as vaccines to enter our bodies, said Williams

Court papers show the Williams family belong to an evangelical congregation known as the 'Temple of the Inner Flames Church'

The family sent the school a letter from Reverend of the church - and self-proclaimed 'world renown psychic' - Carol Ann Liaros to reaffirm their stance

'Based on our Christian biblical instructions from God, our beliefs include not taking any harmful or foreign substances into our bodies, which includes: excessive alcohol, recreational drugs, foreign substances (vaccines

)' But in rebuttal, the school district released a statement insisting protecting the health of its students outweighs an individual's right to religious immunity

That decision, according to New York state law, is justified, as current legislation leaves the decision of whether a parent's religious beliefs are a valid reason for exemption to the board

'A school district has no duty more important than protecting the health, safety, and welfare of its students and staff,' the OPSD, overseen by superintendent Matthew McGarrity, said in a statement

'Ensuring that the immunization requirements under state law have been met is critical to carrying out this duty

The New York State Commissioner of Education has denied a request to allow un-immunized students living in the District to attend school while they seek an exemption to the State Public Health Law requirements

Housh however claims the school district are in breach of the law and will be taking their case to the state Supreme Court, claiming religious discrimination

The attorney says that after the family's second request for religious exemption was rejected, the school refused to allow them to attend during their appeal

He claims the district also refused to give them school work, home work or provide a tutor, leaving the girls to fall behind

'They didn't follow the law and they've continued to not follow the case. That's why we're going to court,' Housh said

'It's against the law and quite simply cruel to set these childrens' education lives back so far,' he added

OPSD said they couldn't comment any further on the case, because of the pending court trial

Erie County's Health Commissioner, Dr.Gale Burstein, told WKBK that he urges all children to get vaccinated

'Vaccines are safe, vaccines are effective, so let your doctor love your children like you love your children,' Burnstein said

The Williams' case is set to be heard in the state supreme court on Friday.Williams says she is awaiting blood result to determine whether her daughter's have developed a natural immunity to the diseases the vaccinations are used to prevent

10 Crazy World War I Facts You Have to Know - Duration: 12:16.

World War I, or the Great War started out as smaller scale conflicts amongst a hotbed

of internationally hostilities and shifting alliances.

While as famous as a conflict can get, World War I is often misunderstood or simply inadequately

known.

In this list, we share some of the most intriguing, downright shocking or just plain weird facts

and happenings that define World War I as it happened.

10: Kaiser Wilhelm II was the Queen of England's Grandson

It might come as a great shock for many people to realize that the official German head of

state, Kaiser Wilhelm in the time of World War I was half English.

Even more shocking, considering the nature of the conflict between the Central Powers

and Allied Powers was the scandalous fact that this man, the figurehead in the German

regime fighting in WWI was none less than the grandson of the Queen of England, Queen

Victoria!

It is true that war can quickly lead to conflicting loyalties and blurring between military conflict

and family conflict and between international boundaries and familial lines.

Interestingly, the Queen had assisted in marrying her eldest daughter who also held the name

Victoria in marrying the Prussian Prince William.

Their son, Kaiser Wilhelm II became the warmongering, anti-British German Emperor.

The Kaiser's English-borne mother, Vicky, the daughter of Queen Victoria who had been

wed to Prince William of Prussia expressed significant concern over the attitudes of

the Kaiser in the time leading up to the First World War.

Interestingly, the Kaiser suffered from nerve damage during a poorly handled birth that

permanently paralyzed his arm.

His mental state left much to be desired, including a burning obsession with military

dominance.

9: Japan and Italy Sided with the Allied Powers Japan and Italy might be well known participants

in Axis combat in the Second World War, but a lesser known fact is that Japan and Italy

fought on the side of the Allied Powers in World War I.

The Kingdom of Italy was a combatant nation in the Great War that never became involved

in violence on the side of the Central Powers despite prior agreements to support the Central

Powers.

Instead, for a time, the Kingdom of Italy remained neutral having entered the pre-war

Triple Alliance with Austria-Hungary and Germany.

Then, Italy made the decision to join the war on the side of the Allied Powers in 1915

as an outcome of the Treaty of London.

This action was not a popular one.

It was made in spite of increasingly vociferous anti-war protests from many members of the

Italian public who saw war as a greatly unwanted occurrence that would serve only to bring

a negative outcome for the country overall.

Japan might at first seem to be well out of the way in the European theater, but the fact

is, the Japanese headed far west and even defended British shipping in the Mediterranean.

German operations in the Indian Ocean the West Pacific were significantly hindered by

Japanese actions curbing the sweep of the roving Imperial German Navy.

8: Urine Soaked Handkerchiefs Mitigated Gas World War I was not just a war where mechanical

means of fighting advanced, with air battles between planes standing out prominently.

World War I was also the war of the chemical weapon, revolutionizing attacks through chemistry.

After the turnpoint where German forces used chlorine gas on April 22 in 1915 at Ypres,

Belgium, poison gas attacks became definitive elements conflict.

From that day onwards poison gas was used to devastating effect in World War I by both

the Central Powers and the Allied Powers.

The use of chemical warfare showed the dangers of high-tech chemical engineering and led

to profound legal considerations on what constituted acceptable bounds of wartime conduct.

Chlorine gas attacks caused burns and could inflict blindness, but despite the advancement,

a means of addressing deadly gas attacks was decidedly low tech and biological in nature.

Holding urine-soaked cloths to the face provided a crude but better than nothing means of mitigating

the effects of chlorine gas.

Further development of gas masks offered a much greater level of protection, especially

against more dangerous forms of gas attack.

As the conflict progressed, the scale and variety of chemical weapon attacks grew, spurring

intense efforts to design and manufacture proper gas masks.

7: Jewish Germans Proved Loyalty & Got Betrayed The time of the Third Reich may have been

a violent betrayal of Jewish Germans, but prior to the tyranny of the Hitler era that

sparked World War II hostilities in Europe, German Jews went above and beyond in efforts

to show loyalty to their Fatherland.

In the time of World War I, anti-Semitism was already an ever-present reality and many

Jewish Germans wanted to show loyalty to their country through action.

Sadly and ironically, Jewish air aces and other prominent Jewish veterans of WWI were

treated violently and swept under the rug as their achievements starkly contrasted with

the lie filled hate speech of Nazi rhetoric.

In the wake of Germany's loss of World War I, Jewish Germans were targeted as scapegoats

for Germany's loss of World War I.

While some German Jews received acknowledgement under the Nazi regime for past contributions

in WWI, the overall treatment of Germany's WWI veterans by the National Socialist regime

was exceptionally harsh.

Formerly recognized combatants in WWI who were Jewish Germans were treated as enemies

to be eliminated by the country they had served.

Even high scoring German Jewish fighter pilots including aces from WWI who had received decorations

with the utmost recognition were removed from war records under the fanatical Nazi regime

as in the case of ace pilot Fritz Beckhardt, also arrested and imprisoned for his relations

with his non-Jewish wife.

Others were sent to die in concentration camp conditions as in the case of observer and

gunner Berthold Guthmann.

6: The Christmas Truce World War I was defined as a conflict of exceptional

violence, scale and novelty of awful new weapons and tactics used to obliterate enemy troops.

Yet amongst the chaos, an unusual Christmas Truce took place, notably starting between

British, French and German troops in 1914 as combatants took initiative to celebrate

Christmas and exchange greetings.

Small talk was made, while different degrees of what came to be called "fraternization"

took place along the Western Front.

In some locations, talks, trading and singing of Christmas songs occurred, while less friendly

truces at other conditions included simply ceasing fire and giving each side the opportunity

to go about retrieving and burying their dead.

Holiday season games were pursued amongst ceasefire conditions, while barter offered

conveniences and comfort.

In other instances, amidst the growing violence of World War I, killing was avoided by warring

parties who took a "live and let live" approach that saw enemy soldiers declining

to attack each other.

Despite the faint hopes of peace that seemed to be presented by soldiers who simply didn't

kill each other, the fate of World War I was to get worse.

Crackdowns on fraternization followed, with failure of a truce to take place in Christmas

of 1915.

5: British Tanks were Gendered Machines are often given human names to lend

nostalgia, nuance or a touch of fond personalization.

An entire model might be given a name, or an individual machine such as a boat, plane

or vehicle can be named.

Yet it might come as an amusing surprise amongst the ghastly nature and unprecedented mechanisation

of World War I that Mark 1 British tanks were gendered as male tanks or female tanks in

how they were described.

The naming difference in British tanks was also not random.

With the different gender labeling options there came a profound difference in tank armament.

For the male tanks were armed with heavier weapons, while female tanks came equipped

only with machine guns.

Between the two types of machine, short work could be made of enemy forces.

"Male" Mark 1 tanks equipped with a genuinely terrifying pair of 6-pound guns plus 4 machine

guns were considered male tanks in their classification.

In contrast, "Female" Mark 1 tanks came with 6 machine guns.

The male tanks that boasted the long barrel 6-pound guns experienced some difficulties

due to the ungainly length of the barrels.

To resolve these operational challenges, male tanks were eventually set up with short barrel

six-pound guns.

4: Hitler's Mustache Explained Associated with rambling hate speech and authoritarianism

while being a widespread subject of ridicule, the notorious toothbrush mustache displayed

by Austrian immigrant turned German National Socialist German Worker's Party leader Adolf

Hitler has a surprising history and origin.

It might come as a surprise to many students of wartime history, but the toothbrush mustache

of Adolf Hitler made notorious through countless photo depictions was originally much larger,

being formed as a more typical mustache.

The distinctive shape of the mustache came about because of the need for the future malfeasant

to wear a gas mask in battle.

In order to fit a protective gas mask, Hitler's full mustache had to be trimmed to shape.

During the hostilities of World War I, Hitler was involved in a gas attack where he received

injuries that included temporary blindness.

Evidently the horrors of gas attacks did nothing to give the future dictator second thought

about systematically commissioning the gassing his personally declared enemies and the millions

of innocent victims he sought to eliminate.

The account of Hitler's mustache being trimmed into the compact toothbrush shape is depicted

with some cinematic licence in History channel's miniseries "The World Wars", which has

been Emmy nominated.

3: Germany Tried to Provoke a Mexican Attack on the USA

World War I spanned an incredible range of countries around the globe as it spread in

scope and scale.

Increasing agitation and provocation were among the reasons for the mad growth of the

conflict.

One of the most unusual and little-known plots of World War I unfolded as Germany attempted

to rile Mexico into attacking the United States and taking the states of New Mexico, Arizona

and Texas.

The plan ultimately did not unfold but the attempt to stir further battlefields into

action succeeded in further highlighting the deadly threat of the virulent spread of global

hostilities and provocation.

In what was known as the Zimmermann Telegram, the German foreign secretary Arthur Zimmermann

contacted German Ambassador Heinrich von Eckardt by telegram, outlining a proposal for Mexico

to accept financial assistance for war from Germany and then embark upon a plan to take

US territory and expand Mexico's borders.

The Mexican president requested government evaluation of the offer, but in the end, refused

it.

The offer became part of US justification for war against Germany.

The effort to essentially sponsor a bordering country to engage in war constituted a threat

to American national security that was far too close to home.

2: Chinese Labor Corps Deployed in Europe During World War I, the sheer scale and mechanization

of fighting meant that wartime operations were messy and technically challenging.

Explosions, deaths and generally catastrophic conditions of all kinds necessitated lots

of work to address the damage.

At the same time, preparations of supplies, munitions and wartime infrastructure including

trenches, sandbags, delivery routes and artillery positions took a great deal of staffing to

accomplish.

The Chinese Labor Corps from rural parts of China offered their services and played a

notable role in equipping, organizing and cleaning up the practical aspects of wartime

operations on the Western Front.

Building roads, loading trains and boats and burying the dead were some of the projects

in which these workers engaged.

Unfortunately, the workers were paid very little for their hardworking contributions

and suffered many losses among their crews during the Spanish Flu epidemic.

A significant number of the workers were from the coastal province of Shandong in Eastern

China.

Some of the workers were well educated.

Chinese Engineers operated the Tank Corps Central Workshops in France.

A lack of awareness of contributions from the approximately 140,000 Chinese workers

who provided valuable services in World War I has begun to be addressed through written

accounts and monument construction.

1: Child Soldiers Fought for Britain Child soldiers might seem like a horror of

"Third World" militias under a dysfunctional military dictatorship or a rogue cult.

Yet the First World War led to a strange circumstance where Britain saw a shocking 250,000 combatants

who were mere boys, many well under the legal age of combat service of 19 years serving

in World War I.

Of these young people, a number served with dedication and bravery, many going to their

deaths.

While one might wonder how such an occurrence could happen with supposed protections in

place, it was in fact quite easy.

Without modern documentation rigor such as birth certificates and a reliance on medical

exams instead of reliable documents attesting to the age of candidates, it was possible

to lie one's way into active combat service.

Wartime propaganda helped to stir up some extra desire to fight, even among those who

were legally too young.

Seeing the urgency of wartime affairs and perhaps having an extra dose of youthful bravado

meant that those without very much knowledge or experience would rush in to get involved.

Parental or community supervision was not always helpful either.

Members of parliament, headmasters and even parents were complicit in many underage service

sign-ups.

Straight Talk: How Much Leverage Do the In-Laws Have? - Duration: 3:58.

- This man's mother told her soon to be

daughter-in-law that she should dye her

naturally red hair for the wedding

so that they don't have the same color hair.

- I'm all set.

- How much leeway should you give your in-law?

- Not that much, sorry.

- You don't wanna be their puppet for sure.

- I have a whole different take on this.

I agree that the mother-in-law should not be doing that

but here's the issue I have.

Why is she then posting this on social media?

Because she then immediately puts

her husband to be in a no win situation.

- Bad.

- Well there is a win.

- No listen, because he is then

he is forced to choose to either tell his mom

you can't do that or tell his wife to be-

- Wait a minute, hold on. - But let's preach about that.

- She should have a conversation with him first.

- I think it's actually an easy conversation.

- This is easy. Break it down. - Go ahead.

- The bible says this is - I give it to him.

why a man will leave his Leave and cleave.

father and mother and cleave to his wife. - That's right.

- So the decision is, my wife (audience cheering)

to be, my wife to-be. It's her decision if she gon' color

her hair or not. And mom, I love you.

But this is not your marriage,

and we gotta create boundaries. - And that's his

conversation to have with the - Because

mother. - That's right. That's right.

- I mean it puts him on the carpet, but that's exactly

right. I'm glad you backed it up with the bible.

But from, I'm not gonna argue. (all laugh)

- You had to tell him. - You have a point.

- I'm at a place in my life where my kids are marriage age.

So I have to make the decision what kind of in-law am I

gonna be. I raise my children as best I could,

to know their own truth and find their stuff.

My kids have respect for it. If they're in love,

they obviously are in love with somebody that's worth while.

It's not my choice who they date, if he does her wrong,

I'mma kill em. (all laughs)

- Ok cool. - I need to hear that. - That is great.

- Okay I wanna hear what the ladies say on this because

the wedding day is theirs.

- Right. Right. - Yes.

- So ladies where are you at on this?

- So here's the thing, when I first heard this story

I thought that was out of line for the mom to say that.

That told me several things about the relationship.

That obviously the husband - Yes.

doesn't have enough boundaries set because the

mother should never even said it in the first place.

- Ask how can, since you know your mom better than anyone,

how should I approach her. Because it's my day.

- You have that conversation - It's a slippery slope.

with her, and you don't say it the right way?

First of all, she's not gonna receive it from you anyway.

She's jealous. She's jealous - That's right.

cause she don't like your hair and she think you cute.

And I'm the momma and I'm the. That's all she's doing.

That's all she's doing. - Her son is marrying someone

on straight talk so she gon' get it straight. Hello.

(audience laughs) - But you need your man to be able to

step up to his mother in a respectful way

and say this is my wife and - Exactly. Respectfully.

that made her feel uncomfortable and we can't do this.

This doesn't work for us. - Right, right, right.

- Long before it gets posted. - Yes.

- Look, marriage the thing that's made this one successful

for me. This is number 3. (all laughs) - Third times a charm

- Yeah, I'm good at this now. I've done done a lotta wrong

stuff. What has made this marriage successful from day one,

is we made a commitment to form a two-handed circle.

No one is in that circle but me and Margie. - All right.

- The kids ain't in it. The two handed circle in a

marriage is the best approach. When the in-laws are in it,

it's gon get messed up. This woman had no right to go

to this young lady and tell her dye her hair on

her wedding day. Are you crazy? - Yes. - Yeah.

- Now but Steve, I'm not gonna - You know,

defend her. Right? I'm not gonna defend her.

But I think underneath it, it is hard when you're

a parent trying to let go of your child.

- Yeah. - Sure. - And that's what's happening.

- That's all that. - Hey folks this has been a great one.

This was a really good time. Thank you all for being here.

Keep it down everybody we'll be right back.

(upbeat music)

You had to start it up like that?

You be pumping gas and be come on now.

Come on now.

You even include the Lord in it, Jesus, Jesus.

(audience laughs)

Come on, come up here.

And then as soon as that car start,

And she loved this Kmart.

And I used to take her to Kmart.

And I would drop her off at the front door and go park.

Then I'd go in just to watch my mama, you know.

So I would get out the car, you ever get out your car,

turned it off, but the car don't go off?

(audience laughs)

You ever turn it off and it still be over there shaking?

(stutters)

And you be walking away and people notice it?

I said no, it's off.

No, no, your car's still running, sir.

I said the car is off.

(audience claps)

You fix your car up longer than you should.

If you have tape on your car

(audience chuckles)

anywhere,

(audience laughs)

it's time to let it go.

(audience laughs)

You can't duct tape your fender back on the car.

That's illegal.

You cracked your tail light, red tape is not a tail light.

It's not a tail light.

(audience claps)

You lost your gas cap, putting drawers down in there

is not the same thing.

Somebody can come by and light your drawers

and your ass is gone.

(audience claps)

I had that car.

Some of ya'll driving that car.

But hang in there man, there's better day coming.

You gonna get a new car, don't worry about it.

Let's play some hey Steve.

Trump's Tax Cuts Are REALLY Screwing Over American Workers - Duration: 6:08.

Well, more and more people continue to file their tax returns, most of them working class

folks hoping to get that refund that they get every year and so far more than 16 million

Americans have already filed and completed their taxes.

I'm very envious of those people because I haven't even started.

I'm very terrified to do it.

And here's why.

Of those 16 plus million people who have filed their tax returns already, nearly 10 percent

of them said that their refund has gone down even though their income did not go up in

2018 to put it another way, almost 10 percent.

We're at about eight and a half percent actually.

Uh, their income didn't go up, their expenses didn't change.

Basically 2018 was a carbon copy of 2017 and yet they owe more money or they get less money

back then they did in 2018.

And I can't even say they owe more money because all that eight and a half percent say is that

their refund amount went down even though everything else stayed constant in their income.

Another 24 point three percent aren't getting a refund at all.

And in fact found out they owe money this year.

So when you add those two together, we're at about 35 percent, one third of working

class people here in the United States who have already filed their taxes that are either

getting less money or they owe money.

Whereas in the past they would have gotten money back and this is 100 percent the result

and the design of the Republican tax cut that was passed at the end of 2017.

You see middle class people working class people, even the underclass of people here

in the United States, they took away what we can deduct from our taxes.

They took away a lot of the benefits that we could use to help reduce the amount we

would owe or to increase the amount we would get back.

And I'm not talking about massive increases going from like a $2,000 refund to a $4,000

refund.

Know what I'm talking about is maybe going from a $2,000 refund to a $2,300 refund.

Because believe it or not, for a lot of us here in this country, that extra $300 would

make a world of difference.

That $300 might be a medical bill that's been sitting on your dresser for nine months.

And I say that because I know that because I got one, it's been sitting there collecting

dust because I can't touch it yet, but at the same time we're getting screwed and we're

owing more or receiving less because they took away our benefits.

They took away teacher's ability to write off supplies that they buy for their own classroom

out of their own pocket.

We can't write those off anymore, but you know what can be written off, uh, the cost

of a private jet.

So if you bought a private jet, you can actually write off almost, depending on how much the

jet cost up to 100 percent of the cost.

I have a private jet, but teachers can't write off buying a new globe for their classroom.

But you know, somebody like Jeff Bezos or Bill Gates or Warren Buffett or Sheldon Adelson,

they can write off their new private jet.

If they bought one last year, they can because that's how the tax system in the United States

works and you wonder why so many people start to hate this system, why they love the idea

of socialism, because what we've got going on right now isn't working.

It's not.

It's working for the top one percent.

Bernie Sanders has said that a lot recently and he's right.

If you're in the top one percent than hell.

Yeah.

Things have never been better.

I mean, getting to write off the cost of a multimillion dollar private jet, it doesn't

get any more disgusting than that.

The 99 percent, we're getting screwed.

We're getting screwed in every possible opportunity.

We're not getting the tax cut.

Not at all, not even a little bit in the American public is waking up to that.

They understand that and millions upon millions more are going to understand that when they

file their taxes in the next coming weeks, but the wealthy elite aren't going to have

to deal with that.

They're going to be more concerned about, oh, did I?

Did I remember to write this thing off?

Oh, do I get to pay $0 like Netflix did in taxes last year?

We're the ones getting screwed.

We're the ones making up for the lost tax revenue that is being used for this massive

one percent tax cut.

Everybody.

The most important thing you can do right now is to not forget that because if you forget

about that or if you let it go, or if you say, well, you know what?

That's not that big of a deal.

Then the Republicans have already won 20 slash 20.

But if you keep that with you, and I mean that quite literally, I want you to take a

copy of your 2019 and eventually your 20 slash 20 taxes with you.

When you go to vote in the 2020 election and before you start filling out that ballot,

I want you to pull those taxes out of your pocket, the letter from the irs showing that

you got less back or that you owe more than usual.

And I want you to read that and I want you to remember what party did that to you.

And then I want you to cast your vote in 20 slash 20.

If we forget how horrible this is, if we lose hold of the anger that we have now about this,

then again, the Republicans have already won.

Game Theory: Mario Odyssey's Big LIE.. Power Moons have NO POWER! - Duration: 17:50.

Hello Internet, welcome to Game Theory!

Can you finish watching this episode without touching a coin?

No.

No you cannot.

You know, over the years we've explored the Super Marioverse from a number of different angles.

We've looked at the sciences, from the biology and psychology

to the psychics and astronomy

We've examined the humanities!

Through Mario's communist leadings and the economics of the Mushroom Kingdom's real estate market

We've looked at the heroes, the villains, the side characters

and the blurry lines that divide them all!

However, after all those years of analysis, one question remains:

Well, actually a lot of questions remain

I could dig deeper and deeper into this series forever

But let's just say one question remains, for dramatic effect

ONE QUESTION REMAINS

A question about the single most important item in any of these games

The driving force that compels Mario to go forth on adventure after adventure

Today, we're looking at the primary MacGuffins of the series,

The Power Star

Or, more accurately, the Power Moon

Since, Mario Odyssey is the most recent and the most topical game.

Seriously, though! Why is Mario collecting these things?

What exactly do they do?

In past games it was always a bit unclear

Their power lets you...

open doors?

Okay...

For being such an overly elaborate locking system,

it didn't really stop Bowser, did it?

Super Mario Sunshine, they make the sun shine brighter.

Awesome!

I'm glad the random shine sprite I found,

hurling my body through your trans dimensional pachinko machine, got you a better tan.

But its Galaxy and even more so in Odyssey,

that their purpose finally becomes clear.

As expected by their names, Power Moons and Power Stars are used as fuel

In Galaxy the Grand Stars charge up Rosalina's space station.

In Super Mario Odyssey,

the literal butt ton of Moons that you collect are the gas that enables you to chase princess Peach from kingdom to kingdom.

Which then prompts the question

Just how powerful are the Power moons?

If these moons and truly fill an airship's gas tank,

how much punch does each one pack?

For the lengths that Mario goes to collect these things,

they must be pretty darn good right?

Right?!

Oh ho ho ho

Dear sweet summer theorists,

you don't know the half of it.

But you will, in a little over ten minutes.

So, how do we determine how much energy is contained in each individual Power Moon?

Well, my first impulse was to see how many Moons it took the Odyssey to travel any set amount of distance.

The problem is, the number you collect in the game doesn't correspond to actual flight power.

For example, Mario only needs five Moons to travel from the Cascade Kingdom to the Sand Kingdom.

But he needs twenty to reach the Snow Kingdom. (???)

It's... arbitrary

And then once a kingdom's visited Mario can just return as often as he wants without needing additional moons.

Uh...

Conservation of energy much guys?

Imagine if you car required an increasing amount of gas for each new city that you visited,

but then you could return to the previous cities without burning any fuel.

Forget plumbing,

Mario's got himself a future in perpetual motions machines.

Lucky for us though, Moons are shown as a power source in not just one, but two different locations.

Sure, there's the Odyssey spaceship,

but in a mission mid way through the game we see them as a fuel source in the bowels of the Metro Kingdom.

A mid game mission requires Mario to fix the power plant that drives New Donk City and,

as you can see here Full Power Moons enter the reactor,

and empty Power Moons are dispensed on the other side.

Timing it out, this generator ends up consuming

one Power Moon per second

Now, I don't know about you, but this is a weird scene for me.

In a game where, you're traveling the world looking for anyway possible to nab these up to rescue your kidnapped girlfriend,

It's uncomfortable to see so many Moons just sitting there,

right out of reach.

And then getting devoured so quickly by the reactors.

Screw New Donk City, Mario!

Break that pipe, grab yourself the 124 moons you need,

(Seems like they have plenty to spare)

and go save your girlfriend.

Talk about speed runs, the game would be over in a little over 2 minutes.

Anyway, we're told my Mayor Pauline at the start of the mission,

that the power plant in necessary for the kingdom's festival.

Now that's a bit unclear.

Is it only generating electricity for the extra lights at the festival?

Is this the only powerplant in the city?

Does it fuel the section of New Donk City that we play through?

Or is it responsible for this whole city that we see,

surrounding the play area?

Unfortunately Nintendo, for some reason ,

didn't program functioning electric meters for every building in the game

So we're going to have to make a few assumptions here.

First, let's assume this is the only power plant in New Donk City.

Now we know for a fact that that can't be true,

as prior to this mission we see devices that are actively using electricity.

Including stop lights, marquees and even the stage lights inside of city hall.

And when we first get to the kingdom, we see the entire city lit up in the night sky.

So, something has to be giving these building the juice.

That said though, we can balance out that first assumption,

by making a second one.

That the New Donk power plant that we repair only provides energy for the main elevated section of the city that we play through,

as well as the two side areas to the east and the south.

Now, why am I including the side areas to the east and the south,

but not the one to the west?

Well, notice how power cables connect the main area to the side platforms on east and the south but not to the western one.

And how does that balance things out?

Well think about it, we're saying its the only power plant in the city,

but we know that there must be at least one more.

That would be over estimating the amount of power this one is generating.

But by restricting the area it's giving power too

to only the playable area of New donk

and ignoring the out skirt territories we see in the distance,

we're under estimating its potential energy output.

So in total, it should give us a reasonable approximation.

With all that out of the way,

we can now determine an estimate of the energy contained within each moon,

by calculating the total electoral consumption of New Donk City,

the area of New Donk City can be calculated relativity easily

by using some basic geometry in the Luigi's balloon world minigame

as a measuring stick.

Doing this we learn that the main elevated area measures

36,700 square meters,

while the eastern platform measures 1,090 square meters

and the southern platform measure 2,025 square meters.

In total the explorable area covers about

39,800 square meters

or around 10 acres of land.

That's about the size of two big city blocks in New York City.

And speaking of New York I'm going to go out on a limb and say that

New Donk city has a similar power consumption density

as the real life New York city.

Think about it, New Donk is clearly inspired by New York.

If the names weren't obvious enough,

look no further then the New Donk City hall,

which is modelled after the Empire State Building.

Both cities feature a relatively even mix of sky scrapers,

high rise developments, industrial buildings, and public parks.

And they even have a similar population density,

with around 10,000 residents per square kilometer.

and you might think that I'm making that up, but I'm not.

I put my census taking skill to the test and counted how many residents are in New Donk City, and the math checks out.

And I point this out specifically because I know a lot of people out there,

give us crap when we make mistakes

but I hope you realise how hard we're trying here,

we literally counted everyone in a fictional city in order to scale to the population density of a real world local

all for the sake of measuring the fictional energy output

of a fictional power generator utilising fictional moon fuel.

If that doesn't deserve a subscribe right now, I don't know what does.

And it gets even more ridiculous.

Thanks to New York City's local law 84

Mayor's office of long term planning and sustainability releases an estimate

of energy consumption every year.

According to that data New York city as whole consumes

one quadrillion British Thermal Units

or about 1.055 Exajoules of energy each year.

But of course none of that means anything.

Just like when we deal with force siting of a big number of BTU's

tells us literally zero.

So lets simplify things a little bit shall we.

We can convert those dumb meaningless number into

33.36 Gigawatts

Which is a number that means something to me because

it's 27 times the power required by the flux capacitor to travel though time

in Back to the Future

(1.21 Gigawatts!!)

So New York City every year is using 27 times the energy needed

to break the laws of physics.

Sounds like it might be time to go green there New York.

In all seriousness though, 1 Gigawatt is the equivalent of

a hundred million L.E.D. lightbulbs

so the city is using 3.3 billion L.E.D. lightbulbs of energy per year

According to the U.S. census bureau New York City has an area of

783.8 Square kilometres

So dividing the total energy consumption by the total land area

provides us with the average power density of the city

Which comes out to be

42.56 Watts per Square Meter.

Multiply that by the area of New Donk City and we finally arrive at

an estimate of the cities total energy consumption of

1.7 Megawatts of power used by New Donk City per year.

Again, meaningless number.

So let's try to turn them into something that makes a little bit more sense.

The problem with watts, and the reason no one can read their own electric bill,

is that they're a rate, they measure energy consumption over time.

I mean seriously if you look at your electric bill

or you buy an appliance and it's like

this refrigerator uses 200 watts of electricity per year

You're like, sure I guess 200 doesn't sound that big

it's not like a million, so I'll take it. (??)

But what that watt number really means is that that refrigerator

uses 200 joules of energy per second that its turned on and plugged in.

And you're like

wooo, hey now!

That seems like a lot of energy

200 joules per second

maybe my Go-Gurt doesn't need to be that cold, you know.

But before you start defrosting the thing, turns out its not that much energy.

In fact the energy in a single calorie of food

is over 4000 joules.

So the energy needed to power that refrigerator is nothing

compared needed from the food that exists inside of it.

So, if joules hold that much energy, what does that mean for our Power Moons?

Well, they're still stuck in useless watts over here

So, if we're going to make anything of them we got to convert them

to a more useful unit

So a watt equals a joule per second, right?

And it just so happens that New Donk City consumes moons

at a rate of exactly one per second.

Which makes the math really easy

1.7 Megawatts of energy equals

1.7 Megajoules of energy per second

times 1 second just equals our total number of

drum roll please

*Drum roll sound effects

1.7 Megajoules of energy per Moon

Now again, that may seem like a lot

It's got the word mega in it so it must be good right?

But going back to our calorie example 1.7 Megajoules

is around the amount of energy that you get from eating

A medium Fries at McDonalds.

Carrying it even further to power your own body

for a 2000 calorie per day diet,

you'd need to consume 5 Power Moons every day just to get enough energy.

So, I may of been predicting that Power Moons would have

the energy of a nuclear bomb at the beginning of this video.

But all they really have is the power do is give you a nuclear tummy ache.

It's no wonder Nintendo literally crammed these things everywhere.

Here we all were thinking this was some sort of special collectible.

When in actually they are no more powerful then a candy bar or two.

Throw another 500 Snickers bars into the Odyssey kids

we're flying to the moon.

But this seriously can't be right.

Right??

It is such a low power level.

It's under 9000!

Which is why I wanted to verify this math using a different technique,

by trying to figure out the composition of the Power Moon.

You see in version 1.2 of Mario Odyssey

Nintendo added a neon filter to the game,

Now that might not seem like such a big deal.

Just some cool filter to make everything look like Earthbound's Moonside,

which we all know was one of the coolest levels in all of gaming history.

But if you dive a little deeper into that neon filter and how it works,

you discover something that's pretty interesting.

Take a look at what happens when I point the in game camera at the sun,

and then turn on that neon filter.

For some reason the sun appears blue,

rather then yellow or orange

Why would that be?

There is actually a shocking reason.

You see in real life, scientists use a tool called a spectrometer

to determine the composition of light emitters.

Spectrometers work by using a lens to filter a light though a prism

Which then separates the light into individuals wavelengths

across the electromagnetic spectrum.

This tool is super cool and super useful because each chemical element

emits light at a unique frequency when it's excited.

These unique wavelengths are called its spectral signature

Because just like a real signature on a document

they are unique to whatever produced them.

For example if we have a far away star we can compare

Its spectrometer reading with the known wavelengths of the elements

we have here on earth, to determine what elements

that star is made out of

Which then leads us back to Super Mario Odyssey

Why would the sun in the game produce this specific shade of blue or teal?

Well many stars including our sun are made of mostly hydrogen

And if you look at the spectral signature of Hydrogen

one of the most prominent wavelengths produced is

486.1 nanometres

a wavelength of light that produces close to the

exact shade of teal that we're looking at

in the Odyssey's neon filter

Which honestly is Mind Blowing

I mean think about it, someone at Nintendo actively programmed

the neon filter to turn light blue when it was directed at the sun.

Either this is the randomest piece of Mario trivia ever found

and is a complete coincidence,

or it was intentionally added to the game as a nod to real world science.

Now, let's look at the Moons!

In General when you look at any Power Moon the neon filter

primarily shows you the color the corresponds to each kingdom

Green for the Sand Kingdom

Pink for the Lake Kingdom

Blue for the Wooded Kingdom

and so on

However the moons also are surrounded by these colored sparks

And it makes sense that these sparks related in some way

to the composition of the Power Moons,

because the colours appear consistent

regardless of what Kingdom they're found in.

So using the neon filter, I took a screenshot of a few of the moons

surrounded by these sparks and then uploaded those photos onto a computer.

I then used an eye dropper tool to find the specific hues

of the 4 colours that you see emanating outside of the moon

Specifically red yellow green and blue

with wavelengths of 700 nanometres

585 nanometres

500 nanometres

and 485 nanometres respectively.

And wouldn't you know it, this almost perfectly aligns with

the 4 largest emission signatures of the element helium

Now Helium itself is a noble gas

And therefore it doesn't form any significant bonds that could hold energy.

That said an isotope of Helium could.

Specifically Helium III

Now the interesting thing about Helium III it's very rare here on earth,

but it's believed to be abundant on the moon.

More importantly its been theorized as a possible source of nuclear fusion.

In Super Mario Odyssey, Cappy hints that Power Moons

and Power Stars are made of the same materials

saying, "Apparently Power Moons come in other shapes, I had no idea."

This would explain why power stars in Super Mario Galaxy

form a sun in the centre of the common observatory.

In order to harness the true power of the Helium III

that exist within the Power Stars and by proxy the Power Moons

they have to undergo a fusion reaction.

And that's also the reason they're so weak in the Metro Kingdom

Humans don't understand fusion,

but future space princess Rosalina over here, does.

Meaning that there may just be more power hidden inside these things

then we originally thought.

We just need to unlock the power of fusion to get there.

Until then we're just going to keep using them as glorified keys.

BUT HEY-- (Subtitles By loyal theorist: Matthew Bagas)

Before we end today's episode I have a quick announcement, that's your chance to win some new never before seen merch prototypes.

Early edition of theory wear, that's coming out later this year.

You will literally be the only person in the world to have these things.

So, today's episode was obviously a theory. Right?

No big shocker there.

A theory that has made it all the way through the production.

But not all our ideas for episodes do, in fact,

a lot of topics that we try to make into theories, just don't have enough there for a full episode.

Either they aren't long enough for a full episode or they go off the rails at a certain point, in all the best ways possible, I swear.

So, why am I telling you all this?

Well, it's because of our sponsor for today's episode,

TikTok

Yes, as of today I am officially on the TikTok app. (Link to download is in the top line of the description)

You can find me @MATPATGT

M-A-T-P-A-T-G-T

And sure most of you probably know TikTok as the place where pewds (SUBSCRIBE TO PEWDIEPIE) finds all the cringe he reacts to,

but for me, I'm trying out a lot of fun new ideas on the app.

Giving you short riddles and brain teasers to solve to test your mental metal.

And yes, giving you Game Theory Quickies. ( Probably shouldn't name it that)

Game Theory Shorties? (Nope, try again)

Q-QUICK TAKES

GTFAILS, for all the episodes that didn't quite get there.

It's a place for me to do all the stuff that I can't do anywhere else.

Flex my musical theater skills, after all these years.

Embarrass the theorist team by forcing them to dance with me.

And just overall, have a fun time.

Which, I gotta be honest, is actually freeing from a content standpoint.

Each platform has its own culture and feel, and TikTok, quite honestly, just embraces all the fun, dumb, off the wall stuff that the internet was built for.

Which is pretty great for someone like me who usually just takes fun stuff and make it way too serious for its own good.

So, when they asked if I wanted to give TikTok a try, I said "Yeah! Let's do this."

So download the app and join me on my fun little experiment.

@MATPATGT

Just like it is on twitter and instagram.

Like I said, I'm experimenting with a lot of different things, gaming related, game theory related, and otherwise.

So, if you like this channel, I guarantee that you're gonna get a kick of what you're seeing me do over there.

And to commemorate all the new stuff that's happening over at TikTok, two of my new followers on the app will win themselves those new never before seen merch prototypes I mentioned earlier.

One of a kind, test copies of theory wear that, with some tweaks, will be coming out later this year.

That makes you, literally the only people in the world who will have these things, period, ever, and stop.

So, come on over for your chance to win the merch, and stay for the riddles, musical theater serenades, dancing, GT Quick Takes, and whatever other cringe I can come up with.

Download is in the top line of the description, search for @MATPATGT. (Subtitles By loyal theorist: Matthew Bagas)
