Does a Wife have Authority Over Her Own Body? - Duration: 3:09.

Hey Bruxy, what's with the Bible saying that a

wife does not have authority over her own body

but must yield it to her husband?

Wow. Doesn't that open the door for all kinds of

potential marital abuse?

Be careful when anyone comes to you

quoting a Bible verse out of context

as problematic.

Most of the time, the easiest thing to do

is simply ask them where that's from in the Bible

and then take the time to open up scripture

and read it in context

it certainly helps in this case.

It is in 1 Corinthians chapter seven, verse four

where the Apostle Paul writes this

The wife does not have authority

over her own body but

yields it to her husband.

That is problematic

if that's where you stop.

But that's not even the entire verse.

I remember even seeing this in an

academic book I was reading about

historical Jesus studies

and Jesus' relationship with the Apostle Paul

and they had a whole chapter

on Paul's teaching that women do not

own their own bodies. It belongs to their husband

and how the early New Testament Church

set the stage for domestic violence

and sexual abuse

for millennia to come.

An entire chapter and I remember reading this thinking

when are they going to get to the rest of the verse

when are they going to get to the rest of the verse

and they didn't.

So in both the uneducated and educated forum

people can play this game.

But if we keep reading

well, let me start again at the beginning and read the rest of verse four.

The wife does not have authority over her own body

but yields it to her own husband

same verse continues

in the same way

the husband does not have authority

over his own body

but yields it to his wife.

You see, rather than teaching

some kind of male dominance

the Apostle Paul was teaching

radical egalitarianism.

Within a 1st century Middle-Eastern context

where he was writing

to say that a wife doesn't own her own body

she has to give it up to her husband

was to say nothing new.

That was common wisdom.

So Paul practices a bit of Aikido

working with the momentum of his day

he quotes what's common wisdom.

That's right, a wife needs to give her body

over to her husband

and once he has buy-in

and everyone's saying, "yeah we knew that. Amen."

He says and in the the same way it applies

husband to wife

a husband's body is not his own

he gives it over to his wife.

He's teaching radical intimacy

and complete sharing within marriage.

Now this is unheard of

in first century writings

and that is what should stand out to us

this beautiful, sexual egalitarianism in marriage.

Of course, it does raise the question

yeah, Paul might be egalitarian

when we look closer in this passage

but what about those other passages

where he seems to clearly establish

different roles for the man and the woman?

Hey wives, submit to your husbands

and he doesn't say the reverse.

But that's another question.

More than half of Jussie Smollett's scenes on Empire have been axed and writers are scrambling to come up with changes to make up for the gaps, it has been claimed

TMZ cites anonymous production sources who say that the 36-year-old had nine key scenes in the new string of episodes of the Fox show and one big musical

But in the wake of allegations he staged his racist and homophobic attack, producers have scaled back his appearance in the fifth season of Empire

Sources say five of his scenes and a musical have been cut entirely and he will no longer be the focus for his remaining four

The sudden revision means extra work for the writers and the script has reportedly undergone multiple revisions in the past 24 hours

Empire is in its fifth season.It last aired on December 5 and is due to return to screens in the spring but a date for the 10th episode of the season has not yet been announced

The final episodes are still being filmed.Smollett is now required on set far less, according to the report, though the sources would not say if his role would be entirely written out

He plays Jamal Lyon, one of the son's Terrance Howard's musical mogul character's sons

A representative for Fox, which owns the show,  declined to comment on Tuesday.They also refused to comment on Monday when asked if Jussie's role had been affected by the latest developments in the shocking and unpredictable case

On Monday, it was reported that the star may now face felony charges for filling a false police report about the January 29 attack he says he suffered and which shocked the world

Smollett, who strenuously denies lying and maintains he was the victim of a heinous, homophobic and racist ambush, is due to speak to investigators again and his team of attorneys says he is cooperating fully

Two Nigerian-descent brothers who were brought in for questioning about the attack last week were released without charge after allegedly telling investigators that Smollett, who knew them, paid them to do it and told them to buy the rope he said was placed around his neck

The brothers, Abel and Ola Osundairo, released a statement on Monday to say they were 'not homophobic, not racist and not anti-Trump' but they are yet to say anything else

After DailyMail.com revealed that it was them who had been taken in to be questioned and that the pair knew Smollett and had even trained in his gym, the actor released a statement to say he found it 'impossible' that they could somehow have been involved

The incident occurred at 2am on January 29 as Smollett was walking home from a Subway sandwich shop

He had not long returned to Chicago from New York on an hours-long delayed flight which he documented on social media in live time

He had been in New York to participate in a reading of a play about a gay baseball player who suffers a similarly homophobic attack to the one he later described to police

In a tearful interview on Good Morning America last week, he wept as he said he was telling the truth and was hopeful that surveillance camera footage of the attack would soon be found to quieten his doubters

Police sources cited by CBS and ABC but that have not yet been confirmed have suggested he made up the attack because he wanted more publicity, either because he feared he was being written out of the show or because a threatening letter he claimed to receive a week earlier did not get enough attention

drinking, or something similar, they all have the issue in common that they either have

inflated a commonly required skill they and others have to use every day into something

special, or they think they have a skill that simply doesn't even exist.

Some people think they see visible auras around others, and claim it tells them about how

good a person they are or the like.

However, a Dr. Jamie Ward is not convinced.

She had a patient who had synesthesia, and would see entire colors spread across her

field of vision when hearing the names of her loved ones, and when she saw them in person,

she would see visible auras of varying colors.

Many Americans are simply uninterested in what an expert take on most things are anymore

-- they would prefer to hear from someone who seems more like a regular joe, saying

However, people should keep in mind that just because you listen to news or politics regularly,

doesn't mean you understand all of the subtleties of the subjects being discussed, or are suddenly

an expert on the matter.

We aren't saying you should simply listen to one expert and take their word for granted,

but reading up on several expert opinions, and then reading more background on the subject

to better inform yourself will do you more good than you can imagine.

The various experts out there you can listen to though, are not simply watching political

news more than you.

They often have a degree in a field called political science which makes them an expert

and helps them parse complicated political ongoings that would confuse many of us.

This is another situation where a common skill that everyone must use, is misinterpreted

by some people as something special they can do far better than others.

While reading a map in this day and age or really being able to know your cardinal directions

almost instantly would certainly be good skills to have, most direction know it alls don't

even have those skills, they just think they have some innate compass.

However, humans don't really have the special kind of directional sense that some animals

do, and rely on our brains to read maps or follow patterns that we previously knew.

If the person who claims to be so great at directions does not know the place he is leading

you through, he is unlikely to be much better.

To make matters worse for those who think they are directional experts, nearly everyone

is using a GPS at least for backup to some extent these days, and GPS has been proven

to weaken your directional and navigational skills over time.

If someone is truly better at direction it likely is mostly learned, as they have figured

out patterns that help them find their way in any situation, perhaps even at a young

age.

they have this ability to use "google-fu" and suddenly be a master of anything.

Once they have "the answer" they don't listen to any competing information, and are

incapable of learning further about the subject.

What people are forgetting is that if you really want to know you need to understand;

There will often be competing sources on anything, and you may even see multiple experts with

different opinions.

Humans like to make judgments and resolve things -- the brain simply feels more satisfied

hungover, but that you have a drinking problem, have built up a tolerance, and are used to

most of the ill effects enough that it has become normal for you.

pet, but with every type of animal imaginable.

These are the people who see a dog or a cat, and instead of just enjoying its presence

and petting it, have to go on to anyone in listening range about how great they are with

all animals, until you wish they would just stop talking and move on to another subject.

These people will often make thoroughly obnoxious displays, where they make all kinds of weird

sounds, or other movements, that they somehow think are going to make the animal just come

straight for them.

These people forget that their own pet responds to these things because they trained it to

at a young age, and like humans, most animals are very, very different.

While there are real animal behavioral experts out there, unless that is your career, you

are probably not suddenly a beastmaster of taming your new neighbors cat.

And quite honestly, just owning a pet doesn't even necessarily make you an expert at taking

care of that specific one creature that you own.

Taking care of animals is hard work, and doing it right takes a lot of practice, trial and

scenario earlier you know how i'll attain the dollars very much but i I

remember I read a very optimistic and I mentioned this little past show a very

optimistic vision of the future where cryptocurrency is worth like a hundred

trillion dollars now that would right now like the total wealth on earth is to

is a quarter of a quadrillion which is 250 trillion so to say that

cryptocurrency would make up 40% of the value of the earth I don't know about

that but 10 trillion also was in that scenario now let's say we get if we get

to a world and that would be a beautiful world where all cryptocurrencies valued

at 10 trillion dollars and the Bitcoin maximalist the Bitcoin Firsters like me

I'm a Bitcoin I think Bitcoin will be the one well to be the one it doesn't

mean that other ones are gonna exist I've always said there's gonna be a top

tier let's talk 90% Bitcoin dominance well I mean that's that's dominant that

is incredibly dominant and in a 10 trillion crypto world though that leaves

1 trillion dollars of freaking value for the rest of the other coins well to

compare that to the present the total value market cap of cryptocurrency right

now is a hundred thirty-five billion and that's including Bitcoin so we're

talking about without Bitcoin all coins being worth 1 1 trillion dollars in a

market cap under that scenario and that summer you're gonna argue well maybe

it'll be 80/20 but it's all about the 8020 rule right I don't know maybe but

but what I'm saying is you know big Bitcoin maximalist I I would hope they

would be very happy under that scenario they may be some people that kind of

seem angry now toward altcoins why would they be angry under that

scenario like 90% Bitcoin dominates all coins were there would be always worse

worth a trillion dollars and that would provide so much opportunity for people

who just want them to who say you know what I don't want to deal with Bitcoin I

want to experiment well that's a pretty cool place to experiment in a 1 trillion

dollar market cap land there now again this is all theoretical but I'm trying

to paint a positive picture for the future a Bitcoin but at the same time

saying you know why I believe there can be why it's important to be in the top

tier of all coins now I guess you know you'd wanted in a 1 trillion dollar all

coin market cap you'd want to be in that top tier so I can see why like

theory or wherever they would want to be pretty dominant of the altcoin sector

and they could still be really successful and so much could be built

around altcoins under that scenario you know we say all

colonies are just places for Bitcoin to learn and to adopt and maybe that

process will continue for a long time I mean there's always going to be people

who dream of having the next Bitcoin they're always going to fail but it

seems to me that it there could be a big space for them to play and uh I this is

market out there are they gonna offend some customers if they know they're

Google and you know their their phones are all jacked up with all sorts of apps

because it's good the more the merrier if cryptocurrency companies are

successful get on stock exchanges IPO that's good for the whole space is good

for Bitcoin to look it's positive stuff back be in motion
