in this video I'm going to show you how to get more traffic to your website or
blog these are very simple tips you can implement those today there is nothing
complicated and using these tips has helped me generate over 400,000 page
views to my niche websites and blogs what's happening guys my name is Greg
Kononenko you might also know me as the Caffeinated Blogger and on this
YouTube channel I talk about traffic generation I feel that marketing and
making money online make sure to click the subscribe button just below this
video click the little bell notification icon to make sure that you get a
real-time update as soon as I upload my next video alright let's get into the
detail alright guys so like I said in this video I actually focused on tips
that you can implement literally today very simple but very very effective
things so the very first tip that we're going to be talking about is the h1 tag
so I'm gonna show you in just a moment what I'm talking about but in general h1
tag should only be used once I've seen it time and time again that a lot of my
students and a lot of people who are spoken to use h1 tags
in their wordpress post and that actually confuses the hell out of search
engines because h1 should only be used in the title so your main keyword that
you targeting should go into h1 tag and all other headings in your text should
be h2 or h3 I'm gonna jump jump over to WordPress and I'm gonna show you exactly
what I'm talking about for example with this blog post of mine
I'm targeting the keyword blog post idea that is the main keyword that I'm trying
to rank for in Google and this heading up here should be the only thing on your
page that has h1 tags so if I'm going to go into my wordpress post editor you
will be able to see that these by default WordPress will already display
this as an h1 tag for you now all of these are the subheadings that I have on
the page so for example how to come up with blog post ideas expert tips ok they
have to be h2 tags so the way to set them is when you select this and you go
up here do not make them h1 make them h2 or if they're lower subheadings you know
subsections within your post then you can make them h3 h4 and so on
but do not use h2 tags on them because that then confuses the search engine and
search engine will think that method 1 using Quora is what your post is about
if you make this one h1 okay and if you have five or ten h1 tags on the page
then that just becomes a mess for google and it's really not ideal and that can
compromise your traffic so make sure that you only use h1 tag once in here
this by default will always be your h1 and all of the other headings when you
give them the numbers from inside WordPress interface make sure to select
heading 2 heading 3 and so forth all right so the second tip is to avoid long
paragraphs I still see a lot of people write very long paragraphs and that
actually just does not work in a blogging world in online world unless
it's an academic publication if you're running just a general website niche
website or a blog then make sure that you stick to the rule of having only two
lines per paragraph that will actually reduce your bounce rates and if your
bounce rate is lower then more traffic will be given to you by Google so what a
bounce rate is is when let's say 100 people land on your page and 90 of them
decide that they don't want to continue staying on your page and they just close
your website that actually means that you've got a 90 percent bounce rate and
that is not ideal you need to keep your bounce rate as low as possible because
that sends Google signals that people love the content on your website we're
going to talk a little bit more about the bounce rate in just a second but I'm
gonna show you this particular tip avoiding long paragraphs exactly what
I'm talking about so there's actually a really good
illustration picture that I found here on this website
it's from 2013 but I think it demonstrates the point very very well
I'm just gonna show you this and I'm gonna zoom in so it says which one is
easier to read you can see in the top left there is just a very long paragraph
and you can see that it's just really hard to kind of skim through and figure
out what it's about when it's broken up into paragraphs like this in the bottom
right okay I'm just gonna zoom out a little bit so that you can see that that
of course becomes a lot easier to comprehend you know if you look
at a blog post like this I tried to stick to this format on my caffeinated
blogger.com blog as well as on the other blogs when everything is broken up by
good headings and there's only one or two lines per paragraph it's a lot
friendlier to the visitor to actually read and to try to make sense of it so
try to stick to this rule of having only two maybe maximum three lines per
paragraph tip number three is to use an SSL certificate so SSL certificate is
this little thing that appears at the front of your website I'm gonna show you
now in just a second so as you can see here on my web site in the top left
there is this icon which is the kind of like a lock icon and also I have HTTPS
in front of my website a lot of websites still do not use SSL I've seen a lot of
people who are just kind of I guess don't think that this is important but
in fact it actually is because it increases user trust first of all
secondly a lot of browsers have now started giving errors and various
warnings if you try to navigate to a website which is not protected if you go
to website that's not protected then it'll say in here content is not secure
and of course if your visitor is coming to your website for the first time and
it says content is not secure then I'll get a stay very long are they so there
is actually a way in most hosting companies for example side ground the
company that I use they have a free SSL certificate which is called let's
encrypt so if you are most of the time like 99.9% of you guys who are watching
this video will have a hosting company that actually has this let's encrypt
service available it takes five minutes to install it's very very simple so you
should just go ahead and enable the SSL certificate if you're not using it yet
I'm gonna show you how it works inside side ground after you login to your
hosting service so for example I use side ground you need to navigate down to
security and then there is a little tab here called let's encrypt all you have
to do is just come down to the section here install new let's encrypt
certificate and then choose your domain choose let's encrypt SSL and install it
it's as simple as that if you already have an existing website
and you've only just move to SSL as a result of me
seeing these in my video then you might also need to install this plugin called
really simple SSL that will just it's super easy to install you know there are
over 2 million active installations and it will redirect all of the photos and
just do all of this stuff in the background basically to switch from HTTP
to HTTPS just install these Google this install these you don't need to even set
up any options it just does everything for you here is tip number 4 if you want
to get more traffic to your website in 2019 you need to use what's called LSI
keywords I'm gonna show you in just a second how this works we're going to use
a special service called LSI graph comm it's free to use
ok I'm here inside LSI graph and on this page all you need to do is just type in
your main keyword and it will generate those LSI keywords for you so LSI stands
for semantically related keywords it basically are keywords that are not
computer generated related to the topic of your site but rather are thematically
related I'll explain exactly what this means for example you might be writing
an article about how to let's just go with how to lose weight ok so if I go
how to lose weight and then just need to tick this box and click generate you
will see on the left hand side we've now got a bunch of LSI keywords they are not
necessarily directly related they don't have lose weight in them as you go down
the list you'll see here it says easy weight loss weight loss plans 10 pounds
in 10 days losing weight at over 40 so they are distantly related ok they're
phonetically related and that's actually very important for google because if all
you do when you're writing your article if all you're doing is just writing
would you like to know how to lose weight oh this article will teach you
how to lose weight here is the tip number one for you how
to lose weight here is tip number two how to lose weight if you continually
repeating the same keyword over and over this can be seen as keyword stuffing if
you're not using enough of the related keywords then Google will actually
give you potentially give you less traffic because they will think well you
trying to keyword stuff and you know when humans talk to each other when
humans right or when we read a magazine article there are a lot of different
related keywords that I mentioned and that's exactly what Google is looking
for at this point in time they're looking for high quality text that's not
necessarily just stuffing the keyword over and over and over to meet you know
1% or 2% threshold you need to use these LSI keywords so just try to use as many
of these kind of keywords sprinkle them into your article as many of them as you
can tip number five to get more traffic to your website is to publish a
long-form content so short content just doesn't work these days in 2019 there
used to be a time about 10 years ago when you could publish an article of 300
words or 400 words just to get Google to send you the traffic I think back then
the rule was 250 words is minimum well it doesn't work like this at the moment
you actually need to publish at least one and a half thousand words as a
minimum in 2019 if you can go over 2,000 words that's actually better and there
are good reasons for that I'm going to show you in just a second there was a
study that was done by Moz calm and actually what they found this finding
number six is that 85% of content published is less than a thousand words
long however long-form content of over 1000
words consistently receives more shares and links than shorter form content so
what is happening is that if you're publishing consistently high quality
long-form articles you're actually more likely to get more shares and more links
and ultimately get more traffic to your website if you publish long-form content
all right so very very important make sure that you cover each topic in detail
that you posts are more like ultimate style posts tip number six is to use
internal links a lot of people still don't use internal links and I'm going
to explain what an internal link actually is for example if someone is
reading your blog post and then they see a link like this that links to another
article or another you blog this is called an internal link
now there are great benefits to internal links you should put as many of them as
you can into your articles so if someone reads your article and then instead of
just closing your website and going to a different website if they click on one
of these links and then land on another page on your site then Google knows that
they have visited two pages on your site in this session okay instead of one and
that's actually a massive difference you know whether someone sees one page or
two page on your sites because that means that they're interested they're
engaged and that sends a really good message and a really good signal to
Google that your site is high quality and people like to browse around and
they like to stand on stay on it instead of just landing on your site once and go
who and then kind of you know just abandoning your site okay so that
improves your bounce rate Google really loves that very very important to keep
visitors on your site for as long as possible so make sure that you do use as
many internal links as possible there is actually no maximum limit so you can't
overdo it you can use 1020 internal links on your posts that's actually
completely fine because the only thing that can happen is that you get a lower
bounce rate and that's actually a really good thing
tip number seven is to focus on list building it's very very important to
start building your list as soon as possible for the first ten years of my
online career I did not build a list I owned several large golf websites I
could have built amidst probably in the hundreds of thousands from that those
golf websites I just did not do it because I guess I didn't know any better
and I'm really regretting this now because my business could have been in a
completely different place if I had built my list at that point in time so I
highly recommend that you focus on list building here are some basic options I'm
going to show you how to where to place your opt-in forms it's sidebar in
content and after content and a jump over and show that you know so this is
what a sidebar opt-in actually looks like you can see I'm offering my free
traffic course and as someone scroll down they see it again here at the
bottom and then it kind of just stands and sticks to the side okay
I'm going to show you which plugin I use for that in just a second so to make
that opt-in sticker like this the plugin that I use is called here q2 w3 fixed
widget so what I've done is I've created my opt-in widget twice and then for the
second time this bottom occurrence of it this one here here it is at the bottom
and at the top for this second occurrence of it I've actually ticked
this little tick box that says fixed widget this is exactly what that plug-in
that I told you about does it makes it sticky so that when
somebody Scrolls they this bottom one actually kind of sticks and stays on the
screen so that the users they scroll down further and further they can still
have an option of opting into my email list the other type of opt-in that I
recommend you use is something that looks like this at the bottom of your
content or even in the middle of your content you can insert those you know
further up they work really well as someone is reading your blog post they
have a chance of actually getting onto your email list so very very powerful I
highly recommend that you guys do this tip number eight is home page opt-in I
was not doing this for a long time and actually I kind of regret it now because
it converts really really well it's very powerful I'm going to show you exactly
how that looks you can see that on the home page of my blog I've got some
information about myself and about what this website is about and all for them
to opt-in ok then I've got a bit of a case study and then at the bottom I've
got another opt-in form these actually work really well look at the conversions
here you can see this is my top and bottom home page opt-in forms they
convert at 6.6 and 5.5 percent respectively so if you add those two up
basically twelve percent of people who visit my home page end up joining my
email list how cool is that 12 percent opt-in from my home page which normally
is kind of a you know like a wasted space I guess for in a lot of cases you
can actually convert twelve percent of people from your home page on to your
email list which is very very powerful tip number nine to get more traffic to
your website is to link to your opt-in page from inside your blog posts
so you can actually create you know those internal links that we spoke about
earlier you can link those internal links to your opt-in page that converts
around fifty percent of those clicks into email leads so as you can see here
this top one the opt-in form that's called my course shortcode is converting
at fifty eight percent so fifty eight percent of people who land on that page
end up joining my email list for example you can see that here at the bottom of
this post I said sign up for my free Pinterest traffic course here and if
someone clicks on this link they will land on this opt-in form which says free
traffic course and they can sign up to my newsletter and get this free traffic
course as a bonus so they enter their email instant access and boom they've
joined my email list just like that and you can link to your opt-in page from a
lot of different places throughout your blog post you don't have to just to do
it once you know you can link two or three or four times that once again just
helps you to firstly reduce your bounce rate retain the visitor on your site and
also get them onto your email list tip number ten is to improve your
website speed there are a couple of tools that I'm going to show you how
that you can use for this but faster site in general means high rankings
Google have spoken about that many times that page load speed actually matters
and there is a strong correlation between how fast your website loads and
your rankings okay so if you can improve the page load speed then you can also
improve your rankings and get more traffic onto your website the couple of
tools that I'm going to show you how to use is GT metrics and tools dot Pingdom
com let's jump over into the tools and I'm going to show you so here is GT
metrics com so simply plug in a URL of any post on your website into this tool
bar and you can click analyze and it will bring up the information about your
website you can see that I've done that with one of my posts caffeinated blogger
com from from a caffeinated blogger website and you can see that my
PageSpeed score is actually 80% which is not too bad it used to be a lot worse
I've done a bit of work to speed it up I've seen really good improvements in
terms of traffic as a result of that it will actually tell you exactly what you
need to do I've still got some work to do but it's quite good
the way that it is but it will give you all of those insights in terms of what
is actually happening with your website and how you can improve it further for
me it was a big improvement anyway because initially when I ran those I
think I had DND or maybe even a nd so I managed to improve it quite a bit and
I'm happy with my website the way that it is right now you should definitely
check yours out and improve yours to at least a B so that it's green number
eleven on our list of tips is to install social sharing buttons I actually was
not using it for a while I don't know why I guess it's one of those things
that I always it was always at the back of my mind but I never got around to
actually doing it on my website and guess what if you're not using social
sharing buttons you are actually missing out on a lot of traffic social warfare
is a free plugin that I use I'm going to show you how this works I am getting a
lot of shares on my blog posts you can see this particular one has had 709
shares on Pinterest and I do a lot of their sharing on Pinterest as well so
there is no surprise but actually as you can see there are 18 shares from
Facebook 14 shares on Twitter and even one share on Reddit and it's similar
results on my other blog post 18 on Facebook here well there are nothing on
Facebook here but a lot of them for example this one here has got 10 shares
on Facebook so you just really never know and those just by having those
sharing buttons it doesn't cost you anything to have them and it is all free
traffic when you multiply its effects by the number of blog posts that you guys
have on your website you can you're potentially missing out on hundreds even
thousands of monthly visitors that you're not getting right now if you
don't have those social sharing buttons install and the best thing is that
social warfare is actually a free wordpress plugin so it doesn't cost you
anything just install it it literally takes five minutes in it gets you there
is beautiful sharing buttons and people will start sharing your content and
you're gonna start getting a lot more traffic to your website than you were
before or that you would have otherwise got
without this plugin that's it I hope you enjoyed this content thank you so much
