#35 How To CNC Probe #35 / Stationary Probing Cycles and Bit Changing - Duration: 17:48.
So this is what I've been using to probe for some time now. It has an aviation panel mount
socket at the end. And when I required it I would plug it into this aviation panel mount
here. There are two ends. One is bolted onto the aluminium plate, and this is 1.5mm thick
and there's a crocodile clip on the other end. And this relays back to the control board.
This is connected to the ground and this is connected to the signal. And when I wanted
to use it, say for example this was the material I was planning to cut and I'd set my file
up to cut from the top of the material down - and the zero was on the top of the material,
I would take the crocodile clip and hold it onto the bit. I would toggle down a little
bit until the bit was just hovering above the plate, and I would do a G38.2 command
when the probing cycle would stop upon contact. So essentially when the circuit is made the
controller recognises that as being the part at which the probing cycle stops. If I'm on
G38.4 when I press probe I get an alarm and I'm not able to probe. I have to unlock that,
change that back. So here goes. I can feel that is pinching that ever so slightly. And
then I'd write a very simple command - G92 Z1.5 so it set that point there where the
tip of the bit is touching on the aluminium 1.5mm above the zero of the z. Press enter.
I'm just going to scroll up just so you can see the z coordinates here (it's off screen)
so when I press enter that changes to 1.5. I go back to the control tab - raise the spindle
up, I can then take the plate away. So if I press move to origin (move to 0,0,0) the
bit will drop down and rest on the material. Now I had it set to z25 because I actually
use a different method to probe now. So if I press that, it moves up. This is a nice
quick way of probing and something to mention actually since I've re-did my controller I
actually wired in the ground to the spindle so I don't need to use this crocodile clip
anymore - but most people would because they wouldn't mess about with their spindle in
this way. But there is a disadvantage to probing with
this method, and that's if you're changing tools and especially if you are working from
the centre of the material you are milling as you start to cut stuff away, you may not
have your original height to them probe from - so being able to probe from a separate location
and use that as a reference point to come back to your cut actually makes a lot more
sense. And that's why I've added this button here.
If I pull the touch plate out, I plug in this other probe I can show you how this works.
So this is just a button, in the same way that this emergency stop is a button. This
has a normally open section which are removable - this can be screwed on and off, while what
I'm using for the probe is normally closed. What I would say is the top is relatively
flat compared to one of these e-stop button where it's a little bit domed. So you want
to use something that's as flat as possible. And it had crossed my mind to glue some material
on here and mill that flat as well to improve that surface. So there's nothing fancy - these
are quite cheap. They're pretty reliable. When starting up your CNC machine, you should
always home all the axis. This should always be the first thing you do, as it sets the
machine position to zero for the x y and z, which you can then reference your jobs from.
It also means, if form some reason you lose your cutting position – you can home, and
restart our job by finding your origin position from the machine position. Once it's done
that, I can see my machine position is roughly 2.5mm from where the sensors were triggered.
Now I should also mention, I've got loads of macros here that I've been setting up.
Some don't work, such as move around margins. I've never been able to get this to work and
I think that's more to do with the controller. And I've got a G0 probe and bit changing location.
I'm using a G53 command – which stands for Coordinate System Select and will moved
the different axis based on the machine position. So the way I created this macro was to manually
move the bit to the button, write down the m-pos coordinates and complete the code G53
G0 X-8.5 Y-494.5 Z-10.0. If I move the button, I have to re-write this macro.
And if I press this you'll see where the spindle moves. And it's basically going to hover over
this button. Now form here I can do the probe. Now there is a tool probe setting here but
I've never been quite able to get this to work, so I've just wrote something a bit simpler
for me to follow. If I got back to the probe I'll explain how that works. So the first
thing I need to do is go to probe command and change that go G38.4. I then go back to
control tab, and drop the spindle down, just above the button. So I've centred this and
it seems pretty good. I've used it again and again. And from that position I would set
z to 0, and I do that because if you look back at the probe, my probing distance is
-10. I didn't particularly want to start a long probe from the home position on the z
axis because that would take quite some time. And what's happening here, is while the previous
touch plate worked on a normally open connection where the contact of the bit and the plate
closed the circuit, this is the opposite way around. As it says on the command there it
stops on loss of contact. The there's a current being passed through, and when the bit pushes
the button, it opens the circuit and then the probing cycle stops.
So now I
know the point at which the button gets pressed is 73.337mm from the machine zero. This does
vary a little but what I'll do later is perform a repeatability test, to show you
what that variation is over multiple bit probes cycles. Before that I'll go to my macros
– and there I can select either to set the z height by itself or to set the z along with
the X and Y, of what I worked out to be the corner of the wasteboard. So if I click on
that you can see the full command. And I've written a note to myself to remind
me that the wasteboard height must be manually located and inputted if wateboard is re-surfaced.
So each time I made the surface of the wasteboard lower, I need to make sure I find that z height.
And the way I do that is in this case I would pressed Z=0, and move the bit up, move across,
and I would toggle down so that the top of the bit is just cutting into the MDF surface
making sure the bit clears the material that'llelsdjkljflkjlskdfj eventually cut. Now differently from the way
I set the probe and bit changing location, this time I need to look at the work position
and input that into a G10 command. In this instance I'm just moving back to
the probe and bit changing location, conducting another probe cycle and to make my life easier
I'll just press the macro button. But I'll explain what the macro is doing. G10 allows
the user to set tool offset and/or workplace coordinates and/or tool temperatures. I don't
have to worry about temperature as this is for 3d printing. P stands for tool number
– in my case I only have one tool, or if you count me I have two. L stands for the
offset mode and I'm using L20 command - which adjusts the current workplace coordinate offsets
so that the current tool head position has specified coordinates. And then X, Y and Z
are those offset coordinates – which happen to land on my surfaced waste-board roughly
on the bottom right corner. The problem I had is because the probe is
below the surface of the wasteboard, depending on how this is written you don't particularly
want to move the x and y axes first. You want to move the z so that you're clear and there's
less change you will hit your bit against anything. Ok so that seems to have worked,
so now the bit is above the zero of the x and y, and it's 25mm so it should be clear
of any material - I'll mainly be working with things up to 18mm anyway.
While I'm here I'll talk about some of the other macros. I found it quite useful to have
a home for the x and y, and a homing button for the z in case I need to move the bit quickly
away from something. And the other thing was create a warm up spindle macro, which lasts
for four minutes - and it takes the spindle from various speeds for various amounts of
time. That's an M3 G04 (dwell) command - and the p30 stands for the amount of time, and
if your working in a garage and you don't use the machine every day, the spindle can
get cold and the grease inside it can gunk up, and it's a good habit to warm up the spindle
before you do any jobs and that just means you prolong the life of the spindle. It would
be nice if you could create options to have a choice to press something, in case you accidentally
press it - so for example I could press this once and get prompted with a message saying
to you want to operate macro 7 and I would confirm yes, because in a way if you accidentally
click them you may accidentally fling your machine. So I'll just show you this working.
So for this method to work you do need to surface the wasteboard so it's all nice and
even, and that new position can find the wasteboard and cut through your material anywhere across
the area. So now I'm in my cam software. Artcam express.
I keep saying whenever I have a screen shot of this, is that this software does not exist
anymore. You cannot buy it, as it's been bought out by autodesk, and they've essentially taken
the best bits and run it into the ground. So if you do want to use a software where
you're not kinda tight into a subscription cost - I would recommend v carve but I have
of yet to move to that software but it looks pretty good. But essentially what I'm going
to explain is about the next method of setting up your files with the method of probing that
I demonstrated - it should be the same for both software. So I've created a canvas, this
happens to be 600mm square. And if I go to toolpaths, I can set up the thickness of the
material. You can see the material has already been set to 12. And the thing here to point
out is the material z zero, and how this related toie wasetboard height is zero, the material
zero height in the software should be at the bottom. There is an advantage for doing it
this way and that is if I accidentally put down a material thickness that is bigger than
the material I am actually cutting when I go to run my job I will start with the bit
hovering above the material and it would take several passes before it plunges through.
If you work with the probe method I showed previously where the zero is at the top of
the material if you've made a mistake and cut 18mm but placed a 12mm board down you
will eventually cut through your wasteboard. So there's one very practical reason why this
method of probing and setting up your files is advantages. Ok the other thing I forgot
to mention was setting your origin position. So in this window here you can see your canvas
size or material size, and if I click in the centre or different corners the position changes.
For my CNC, the way I've built it, it happens to be the bottom right but depending on how
you prefer to work with your machine and set up your files, you may use a different corner
and if your using the previous method where you set your probe on the top of the material.
I found when I first started building CNC machines, and when I use to use the x carve,
because of the inherent flaws with the machine actually setting your jobs based on the centre
of the material made the error proportional from either side and actually working from
a corner would amplify those errors. But with my machine it's rigid enough and accurate
enough to work from one origin point which is determined by probing from a stationary
tool bit probe. This is going to be a repeatability test.
What I've done is home the machine and moved it over my probe location, I'm going to probe
and then look at the position of the z axis when that is triggered, and then repeat that
to see if there's any variation. I'm just going to rotate the bit around so
the point is on another part of the button - to see if that makes a difference.
So while that's doing that I'm going to say the things I normally say at the end,
beforehand. I'm sure if you're still watching this until now, you must have found it interesting
or you hate me. But either way, a quick note to say that I'm going to follow up this
video with another one about the macros as I've made some changes to what I'm using
and I don't want to reedit this video, so stay tuned for that. And if you have anything
to share about how you run your jobs and do tool changes, do let me know in the comments
as I'm pretty sure they're more than one way to CNC a cat.
Ok so here are some of the output I got. I done 8 cycles. And in fact I did see some
variation but I also did rotate the spindle collet a little bit, and I don't think this
is something I'm going to notice especially along the z axis. The main thing is that I
don't loose steps along the y and x, because that would be a lot more noticeable. For softer
material like acrylic, MDF, wisa and so on, this is absolutely fine. So there you go,
you can make a touch probe with a simple momentary button.

The Game of Life and How to Play It | Chapter 1 - FULL audiobook - Duration: 15:45.
"The Game of Life And How to Play It." By Florence Scovel Shinn
Chapter 1: The Game
Most people consider life a battle, but it is not a battle, it is
a game. It is a game, however, which cannot be played
successfully without the knowledge of spiritual law, and
the Old and the New Testaments give the rules of the game
with wonderful clearness. Jesus Christ taught that it was
a great game of Giving and Receiving.
"Whatsoever a man soweth that shall he also reap." This
means that whatever man sends out in word or deed, will
return to him; what he gives, he will receive. If he gives hate, he will receive hate; if
he gives love, he will receive love; if he gives criticism,
he will receive criticism; if he lies he will be lied to;
if he cheats he will be cheated. We are taught also, that the imaging
faculty plays a leading part in the game of life.
"Keep thy heart (or imagination) with all diligence, for out
of it are the issues of life." (Prov. 4:23.) This means that what man images, sooner or
later externalizes in his affairs, I know of a man
who feared a certain disease. It was a very rare disease
and difficult to get, but he pictured it continually and read
about it until it manifested in his body, and he died, the victim
of distorted imagination.
So we see, to play successfully the game of life, we must
train the imaging faculty. A person with an imaging faculty
trained to image only good, brings into his life "every
righteous desire of his heart" - health, wealth, love, friends,
perfect self-expression, his highest ideals. The imagination has been called, "The Scissors
of The Mind," and it is ever cutting, cutting, day
by day, the pictures man sees there, and sooner or later
he meets his own creations in his outer world. To train
the imagination successfully, man must understand the workings
of his mind. The Greeks said: "Know Thyself."
There are three departments of the mind, the subconscious,
conscious and superconscious. The subconscious, is
simply power, without direction. It is like steam or
electricity, and it does what it is directed to do; it has no
power of induction. Whatever man feels deeply or images clearly,
is impressed upon the subconscious mind, and carried out
in minutest detail.
For example: a woman I know, when a child, always "made
believe" she was a widow. She "dressed up" in black
clothes and wore a long black veil, and people thought she
was very clever and amusing. She grew up and married a
man with whom she was deeply in love. In a short time he
died and she wore black and a sweeping veil for many
years. The picture of herself as a widow was impressed
upon the subconscious mind, and in due time worked itself
out, regardless of the havoc created. The conscious mind has been called mortal
or carnal mind. It is the human mind and sees life as it appears
to be. It sees death, disaster, sickness, poverty and
limitation of every kind, and it impresses the subconscious.
The superconscious mind is the God Mind within each
man, and is the realm of perfect ideas. In it, is the "perfect pattern" spoken of
by Plato, The Divine Design; for there is a Divine Design
for each person.
"There is a place that you are to fill and no one else can
fill, something you are to do, which no one else can do."
There is a perfect picture of this in the superconscious
mind. It usually flashes across the conscious as an
unattainable ideal - "something too good to be true."
In reality it is man's true destiny (or destination) flashed to
him from the Infinite Intelligence which is within himself.
Many people, however, are in ignorance of their true
destinies and are striving for things and situations which do
not belong to them, and would only bring failure and
dissatisfaction if attained. For example: A woman came to me and asked
me to "speak the word" that she would marry a certain man
with whom she was very much in love. (She called him
A. B.) I replied that this would be a violation of
spiritual law, but that I would speak the word for the right
man, the "divine selection," the man who belonged to her by
divine right. I added, "If A. B. is the right man you can't
lose him, and if he isn't, you will receive his equivalent."
She saw A. B. frequently but no headway was made in their
friendship. One evening she called, and said, "Do you
know, for the last week, A. B. hasn't seemed so wonderful
to me." I replied, "Maybe he is not the divine selection
- another man my be the right one." Soon after that, she
met another man who fell in love with her at once, and who
said she was his ideal. In fact, he said all the things that
she had always wished A. B. would say to her.
She remarked, "It was quite uncanny." She soon returned his love, and lost all interest
in A. B. This shows the law of substitution. A right
idea was substituted for a wrong one, therefore there
was no loss or sacrifice involved.
Jesus Christ said, "Seek ye first the kingdom of God and
his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto
you," and he said the Kingdom was within man. The Kingdom is the realm of right ideas, or
the divine pattern.
Jesus Christ taught that man's words played a leading part
in the game of life. "By your words ye are justified and by
your words ye are condemned." Many people have brought disaster into their
lives through idle words.
For example: A woman once asked me why her life was
now one of poverty of limitation. Formerly she had a home,
was surrounded by beautiful things and had often tired of
the management of her home, and had said repeatedly, "I'm
sick and tired of things - I wish I lived in a trunk," and she
added: "Today I am living in that trunk." She had spoken
herself into a trunk. The subconscious mind has no sense of
humor and people often joke themselves into unhappy
experiences. For example: A woman who had a great deal
of money, joked continually about "getting ready for
the poorhouse." In a few years she was almost destitute, having
impressed the subconscious mind with a picture of lack
and limitation. Fortunately the law works both ways, and a
situation of lack may be changed to one of plenty.
For example: A woman came to me one hot summer's day
for a "treatment" for prosperity. She was worn out, dejected
and discouraged. She said she possessed just eight dollars
in the world. I said, "Good, we'll bless the eight dollars and
multiply them as Jesus Christ multiplied the loaves and
fishes," for He taught that every man had the power to
bless and to multiply, to heal and to prosper. She said, "What shall I do next?"
I replied, "Follow intuition. Have you a 'hunch' to do
anything, or to go anywhere?" Intuition means, intuition, or
to be taught from within. It is man's unerring guide, and I
will deal more fully with its laws in a following chapter.
The woman replied: "I don't know - I seem to have a
'hunch' to go home; I've just enough money for carfare."
Her home was in a distant city and was one of lack and
limitation, and the reasoning mind (or intellect) would have
said: "Stay in New York and get work and make some
money." I replied, "Then go home - never violate a hunch."
I spoke the following words for her: Infinite Spirit open
the way for great abundance for --. She is an irresistible
magnet for all that belongs to her by divine right." I told
her to repeat it continually also. She left for home
immediately. In calling on a woman one day, she linked up
with an old friend of her family. Through this friend, she received thousands
of dollars in a most miraculous way. She has said to me often,
"Tell people about the woman who came to you with
eight dollars and a hunch."
There is always plenty on man's pathway; but it can only
be brought into manifestation through desire, faith or the
spoken word. Jesus Christ brought out clearly that man
must make the first move. "Ask, and it shall be given you, seek, and
ye shall find, knock, and it shall be opened unto you. (Mat.
7:7). In the scriptures we read:
"Concerning the works of my hands, command ye me."
Infinite Intelligence, God, is ever ready to carry out man's
smallest or greatest demands. Every desire, uttered or unexpressed, is a
demand. We are often startled by having a wish suddenly fulfilled.
For example: One Easter, having seen many beautiful rosetrees
in the florists' windows, I wished I would receive one,
and for an instant saw it mentally being carried in the door.
Easter came, and with it a beautiful rose-tree. I thanked my
friend the following day, and told her it was just what I had
wanted. She replied, "I didn't send you a rose-tree,
I sent you lilies!" "The man had mixed the order, and sent me
a rose-tree simply because I had started the law in action,
and I had to have a rose-tree.
Nothing stands between man and his highest ideals and
every desire of his heart, but doubt and fear. When man can
"wish without worrying," every desire will be instantly
fulfilled. I will explain more fully in a following chapter
the scientific reason for this and fear must be
erased from the consciousness. It is man's only enemy - fear
of lack, fear of failure, fear of sickness, fear of loss and
a feeling of insecurity on some plane. Jesus Christ said:
"Why are ye fearful, oh ye of little faith?" (Mat. 8:26)
So we can see we must substitute faith for fear, for fear is
only inverted faith; it is faith in evil instead of good.
The object of the game of life is to see clearly one's good
and to obliterate all mental pictures of evil. This must be
done by impressing the subconscious mind with a
realization of good. A very brilliant man, who has attained
great success, told me he had suddenly erased all fear from
his consciousness by reading a sign which hung in a room.
He saw printed, in large letters this statement - Why worry,
it will probably never happen." These words were stamped
indelibly upon his subconscious mind, and he has now a
firm conviction that only good can come into his life,
therefore only good can manifest. In the following chapter I will deal with
the different methods of impressing the subconscious mind.
It is man's faithful servant but one must be careful to
give it the right orders. Man has ever a silent listener at
his side - his subconscious mind.
Every thought, every word is impressed upon it and carried
out in amazing detail. It is like a singer making a record on
the sensitive disc of the phonographic plate. Every note and
tone of the singer's voice is registered. If he coughs or
hesitates, it is registered also. So let us break all the old bad
records in the subconscious mind, the records of our lives
which we do not wish to keep, and make new and beautiful
ones. Speak these words aloud, with power and conviction:
"I now smash and demolish (by my spoken word)
every untrue record in my subconscious mind. They
shall return to the dust-heap of their native nothingness,
for they came from my own vain imaginings. I now make my
perfect records through the Christ within - The records
of Health, Wealth, Love and perfect self-Expression."
This is the square of life, The Game completed.
In the following chapters, I will show how man can change
his conditions by changing his words. Any man who does
not know the power of the word, is behind the times.
"Death and Life are in the power of the tongue." (Prov.
18:21.)

How to replace the temperature sensor on a Miele tumble dryer - Duration: 2:07.
Hi I'm Mat from eSpares
In this video i'll show you how to replace a temperature sensor on a Miele tumble dryer.
If your tumble dryer is not heating correctly or it's cutting out during a cycle
then it's likely that the temperature sensor needs to be replaced.
Safety first always disconnect an appliance before carrying out any work
The next thing I need to do is to remove the heater cover at the back of the appliance
using a Torx screwdriver.
With all the screws removed from the heater cover
I can then lift it off and put it to one side
and here we can see the heater, the thermostat
and the temperature sensor that we're going to be replacing.
Now the temperature sensor is held in place by two metal tabs either side
so I'm going to grab a pair of pliers and gently bend those back
meaning I can lift the temperature sensor out
disconnect the electrical connection
grab my new temperature sensor
connect the electrical connection to it
and then pop it back into place
and then very gently refold in those metal tabs.
once there holding the temperature sensor in place
I can now replace the heater cover.
so there we have it
one brand new temperature sensor fitted to this Miele tumble dryer.
Remember spares and accessories for all the appliances
around your home can be found on the eSpares website.

Custom Fit Wheel Nets: How to Measure Your Tires - Duration: 2:15.
One of the things that we're best known for here at Mac's are our custom-fit
tire nets. We do not take a generic approach like many of the big-box stores
or mail-order outfits do. Each of our nets are crafted to fit your tire
specifically, it makes a world of difference. It's very simple to get these
nets on their way to you, we just simply need two pieces of information.
Number one, the overall height or diameter of your tire. That's very simply
achieved by simply measuring off of the ground or deck of the trailer to the top
of the tire. In this case, 32 inches. The other critical piece of information is
the overall width of the tire and we're talking sidewall to sidewall here folks,
not the tread width. I want sidewall to sidewall because
after all, the net will be dropping down around the carcass of the tire. In the
case of this BFG tire, we're looking at right about 9 inches. And thirdly, we need
the distance, the horizontal distance, between your deck fittings if that's
already in place on the trailer. If that's part of what you're ordering, you
can forget about that necessary step. But if you already have those deck fittings
in place, just simply give us that dimension across the deck. In this case
about 38 inches. That helps us dial in the leg length for that proper fit. If
you have a track based system, like E-track or the Mac's VersaTie track, make
sure that that's running relatively down the center of the tire so that we're not
pulling out an extreme angle either inward or outward. That's all we need.
Diameter the tire, sidewall to sidewall width of the tire and if the fittings
are in place, give us that across the deck dimension. It's just that easy. When
you get that information in hand, give us a call at 800-666-1586.
We'll build the nets, we'll trial fit them on a tire,
and we'll get them to your doorstep.
They'll fit just like socks on a rooster.

How To Set The Attack Time On Your Vocal Compressor - BehindTheSpeakers.com - Duration: 8:14.
Keep watching to learn a quick and simple way to set the attack time on your vocal compressor.
Hey, this is Jason from Behind The Speakers.
And before we dive in, make sure you grab my free vocal compression cheatsheet by clicking
the link above or in the description below.
So first of all, what is the attack time?
Well this is a parameter that you're going to find on most compressors.
So here's the stock ProTools compressor.
The compressor in your DAW might look slightly different, but chances are you'll find the
same controls - things like ratio, attack, release, threshold.
The attack time's right here, and this parameter basically determines how quickly the compressor
reacts to a sound after it gets too loud.
So all that a compressor is doing essentially is listening to a sound, and as soon as the
sound gets too loud, as soon as it goes above the threshold - which is this control right
here - then the compressor's going to react by turning the sound down.
That's all it's doing.
The attack time is basically telling the compressor how quickly do we want that compressor to
turn things down once that sound gets too loud.
A fast attack is going to tell the compressor as soon as that sound gets above the threshold,
as soon as it gets too loud, we want you to jump in there and turn it down right away.
Don't wait at all.
A slow attack time on the other hand is going to tell the compressor to hang out a little
bit.
We don't want you to pull it down right away, we want you to kind of wait and ease
into it a little bit.
Now this parameter has a very significant impact on sounds.
It can dramatically change the way compression sounds, and it really can be used to shape
and influence the sounds of tracks.
When it comes to vocals in particular, I think of this control as a consonant control knob.
So the consonants on a vocal - the cuh, buh, puh, those initial onsets on the words and
phrases - those are the parts of the vocal performance that are going to be impacted
by this control.
A slow attack time is going to cause the compressor to bring out those consonants, to actually
accentuate them, to make them louder.
A fast attack time on the other hand is going to cause the compressor to turn those consonants
down.
So basically we can use the attack time parameter as a tool to control how much of the consonants
we actually want in the vocal performance.
So let's take a listen here, I have a vocal pulled up.
This is Dylan Owen, a rapper from a track "Everything Gets Old," and first let's
just take a listen to this dry.

Okay, so the first thing I want to play for you here is this slow attack track.
So I have a compressor here, and I've set it up with a fairly slow attack time - in
this case 36 milliseconds.
Now you don't want to pay too much attention to these numbers because every compressor
is different, and 36 on this compressor might be like 24 or 12 on another compressor.
So don't copy the numbers, just think in terms of fast or slow.
So I want to flip back and forth between the dry and the slow attack now, and I want you
to see if you can listen out for the consonants in particular.

So you really can hear that that punch is being brought out pretty dramatically.
So that's what slow attack compression will do.
Now the next thing I want to play for you here is fast attack compression.
So you can see here, I have the same compressor set up, and the only thing that I really changed
is the attack time.
So I have a fairly fast attack, and this is actually 250 microseconds, not milliseconds,
so this is below one millisecond.
And now I want to flip back and forth, in this case let's flip back and forth between
the fast attack and the slow attack, and I want you again to listen very closely to the
consonants themselves.
So we'll start with the slow attack and then we'll flip back and forth.

So to my ears, the main difference between these is that I'm not hearing as much of
the punchiness on the beginning of the words, and it just sounds like it's much gentler.
There's not as much of that punchy aggressiveness.
So this is what attack time will do when it comes to vocals.
And the real question you want to ask yourself when you're setting the attack time on your
vocal compressor is how much of the consonants do I want to hear?
And listen to the sound of the vocal and ask yourself do I want more consonants - in this
case slow the attack time down - or do I want less consonants?
Maybe I'm hearing too much of that punchiness.
In that case you might want to speed the attack time up.
Now this is somewhat genre dependent because there are certain genres of music where we
want the vocal to sound a bit more aggressive.
We want the vocalist to sound like they're spitting out the words and phrases, things
like rock music or hip hop for example.
So in this case, you might want to lean more on the slow attack.
But if you're mixing like a ballad and the singer is singing very softly, you're probably
not going to want that level of aggressiveness on the vocal.
So obviously it depends on genre, it depends on the specific performance and the track
that you're working on.
But hopefully you should now have a better understanding of what the attack time parameter
actually does when it comes to vocals.

MEASLES OUTBREAK 2019: Symptoms, How did this Happen and What to do about it! - Duration: 10:07.
So I'm here on vacation and not in my typical office but I wanted to talk a little about
an important subject that we are dealing with as we speak. That's the subject of Measles.
We've had a recent outbreak in the western United States that really needs to be addressed.
Vaccines are one of the most misunderstood and maligned parts of healthcare and today.
We're going talk about what measles is, why you should be worried about it, how we
got in this mess and what you can do about it.
Welcome to Family Med, your medical home for practical and accurate information to help
your family make healthy decisions. I'm Doctor Erik Richardson. My passion is helping
you cut through all the health information clutter on the internet. If that sounds like
the kind of information you or family needs make sure you follow along with us, hit that
subscribe button and share it with your friends. OK so today we are talking about the Measles,
what it is, and why its so important that we vaccinate for this. This is actually kind
of a frustrating thing to have to talk about as a physician. In the year 2000 it was actually
a disease that was declared eradicated in the US by the CDC but unfortunately due to
lack of immunizations we are seeing more and more outbreaks.
Measles is a highly infectious respiratory virus that is spread by cough and sneezing,
in fact it is so infectious that 9 out of 10 people who are exposed to the virus and
not immunized will get it. The virus can live on its own on surfaces for up to two hours.
You start spreading the infection up to 4 days before you even have symptoms.
Now the symptoms of measles are fairly similar to the flu with high fever, cough, runny nose,
and red, watery eyes. Two to three days after these symptoms you may get tiny white spots
inside the mouth called koplik spots. Then three to five days after the initial symptoms,
the red-spotted rash characteristic of measles breaks out, and the fever spikes. The rash
and fever usually subside within a few days. Now if those were the only problems that happened
with measles maybe it wouldn't be as big of a deal but unfortunately measles has a
high risk of complications. Out of 1000 patients who get Measles up to 3 of them will get a
severe pneumonia, swelling in the brain called encephalitis and even death. Unfortunately
the younger the patient is, the higher risk they are of complications. At the time of
filming this with the current outbreak according to news reports from the 35 active cases one
of them is in the hospital for it. Your kids can get really sick from this.
The worst part about measles is that there is no treatment. The only way we have of tackling
this is through vaccination. But the best news about measles is that by appropriate
vaccination, it is up to 99 percent effective in preventing it. That is why in the year
2000 the CDC was able to declare it eradicated from the United States.
Unfortunately right about that time is when a lot of the myths and misinformation started
regarding vaccines and their safety. You see it all started from a man named Andrew
Wakefield a researcher in England who was looking at the possible link between vaccines
and some intestinal issues. They wrote a paper looking at 12 different children where it
was felt that there may be a link between the vaccine and this condition and then subsequent
development of autism. In the paper they didn't actually claim a link between autism however
in subsequent discussions Dr. Wakefield made that claim. Well, once that was released
the media had a heyday with it and the doubt was firmly implanted in the public mind.
Since that time there have been multiple very good, highly scientific studies with thousands
and thousands of participants which not only have shown no link with the MMR vaccine and
autism but they've actually seen the opposite. Several have shown a trend to lower rates
of autism for those who have had the vaccine. Remember the original study had 12 participants,
so compare that to the many years and thousands of participants in the various studies and
hopefully that will help you feel a little more confident in the validity of the studies.
Now here's the most interesting things about all of this controversy. In the subsequent
years as more and more investigation into this has gone on, there have been some disturbing
findings in regards to the conduct of Dr. Wakefield.
The first of which, of course, was his claim that went above and beyond what the study
found. The original study of 12 people did not find that the vaccine caused autism.
The second issues was that he started advocating a single virus vaccine which he felt to be
safer. Well interestingly enough a couple years earlier he had taken out a patent on
just such a vaccine. Third, it was later discovered that at the
time of the study, he was being paid by a lawyer group who were getting ready to sue
vaccine manufacturers. Kind of convenient don't you think?
4th, it was found out even later, after somebody interviewed the families of the children that
were involved in the original study, that he had fabricated much of the data for the
study. So who should you believe? The multiple studies
covering thousands of lives showing no link to autism or a fraudulent doctor who due to
all of this had his medical license taken away in disgrace or other celebrity spokespeople
for this cause? I'm putting the safety of my children on the legitimate studies.
So let's talk about some practical issues regarding the immunization and talk through
some of the common concerns. First of all there is still concern about
some harmful chemicals in immunizations. Many feared that the preservative thimerosal could
be a source. This has been extensively studied and shown not to be the cause. Despite that
evidence, thimerosal is no longer used in childhood immunizations other than in some
brands of the flu vaccine that are in multi dose vials. But good news, even with that,
you can get ones that don't have it in there. 2nd thing to think about.
We get the immunization to protect ourselves but also those around us. You can't get
the immunization unless you are over the age of one, certain people with immunocompromised states
such as HIV or Cancer and pregnant women. Measles in these groups is especially dangerous.
Remember what I said earlier about how infectious measles is. 9 out of 10 people exposed will
get the measles. So please do what you can do to protect those who are unable to get
the vaccine and prevent the spread. 3rd thing we should address is the fear that
maybe I should just wait until my kids are older to get the vaccine. First of all there
is absolutely no evidence that getting immunizations early has any negative effect. Usually, it
it's just the opposite. Remember what we just discussed about how infectious measles or
other diseases are. The younger your child is the harder time they will have dealing
with the disease. It's much easier for a body to deal with an immunization than it
is the disease. 4th thing to think about. I think that vaccines
are somewhat the victim of their own success. There are certain diseases that we just don't
see as health care providers. In the 15 years that I've been practicing medicine I've
never had to see anybody with measles. I see that as a success, however, because of that
many of you also haven't seen it so the fear of these disease have put us in a false
sense of security. Hopefully understanding what this disease can do will help you be
more motivated to protect yourself. 5th thing to think about. I've seen more
and more doctors' offices refusing to see families who do not immunize their children.
This may seem somewhat cruel, but it's important you understand the risk that you put other
people in when you don't immunize . I have little babies and elderly in my clinic every
day and those who have a compromised immune system. I can't put them at risk because
somebody is irresponsible and does not want to immunize their children. Also, just practically
speaking. If I have somebody who comes into my clinic with measel type symptoms, and they
are not immunized, I have to seal off the exam room they were in for at least two hours
and likely most of the rest of the day before they can be used again. Then I have to clean
the whole lobby and any area that they were in all while wearing a special protective
mask. That's a room that I depend on to be able to care for my patients. Do you also
remember what the symptoms of measles are at first? Cough, congestion, fevers.. How
many patients do you think I have come in with those kind of symptoms? Let me tell you,
it's a lot.
There is a lot more that we could discuss regarding measles, immunizations and the importance
of them, but hopefully, this gives you just a taste of why you need to be immunizing yourself
and your children. Hopefully you've been able to gain a better appreciation of how
serious these diseases can be and how easy it is to prevent them. So please, go get your
children immunized. Share this video with your friends and family who may be on the
fence on deciding whether they should. You never know when you can be exposed and you
don't want to suffer the devastating complications that these diseases can bring.

How to Draw a Night Waterscape With the Moon - Duration: 4:28.
Hello my friends and welcome to another Tuesday of tutorial!
I am Leonardo Pereznieto and today I will draw a nightly landscape
which is something one of you requested
I hope you enjoyed it.
We will be working on toned paper, and we begin drawing with a dark gray.
With this we sketch the hills that are far away by the horizon
the top and the bottom
like so
and, more close by, another arm of land that extends onto the water.
Then, up here, the Moon. Notice that it is about at one third
of the page for composition purposes.
We do the outline with a white pencil and then we give it a tone.
Of course the tone is not solid and flat
but rather it has some changes
some areas are lighter than others even with a full Moon.
And we go back to the dark gray which in this case we apply
lightly to fill in the far away hills.
The one in front will be a little bit darker than the one in the back
which goes slightly lighter.
I'm using the same pencil, I'm just applying it with less pressure
with a lighter touch.
While for the closer land I switched to a black pencil
and I apply it with more pressure
and we can actually give it a couple of passes to darken it further
we want it to stand out.
The list of materials that I am using is in the description below the video.
We grab the white pencil again and with little dots we draw the reflections
many reflections, is like sparks in the water!
and then we illuminate slightly the sky with a halo of the Moon
and why not?
let's draw some little clouds!
and remember that as they are also illuminated by the Moon, they should have
in light the side which is closer to it.
These reflections may not be enough let's also draw some waves, some reffection
of the light of the Moon extended on the water.
Here I'm using a light gray because I don't want the intensity of the
white
also to give it the darker areas of the Moon.
I remind you that right after the release of each video I am for one hour
answering all your questions and comments live
this is every Tuesday from 10 a.m. U.S. Central Time,

How Jess Glynne Created 'Thursday' | Billboard | How It Went Down - Duration: 3:10.
- Hey I'm Jess Glynne and this is
how it went down for my song Thursday.
A couple of years ago I was starting
to write my second album.
I arranged a session with Steve Mack,
who I wrote Take me Home with on my first album,
he's quite an emotional in depth kind of songwriter.
So I thought there's only so much time
I could spend with someone like that
'cause they draw a lot out of me.
I'm quite an emotional creature myself.
He gave me a call and was like,
"Ed Sheeran's around, we've been doing a few things
"and he'd love to come to the session.
"How'd you feel?"
And I was like, "yeah, of course, amazing."
And we sat down for like a little minute,
we had some food, had something to drink,
nothing alcoholic, and we just had like this long chat
for like, I don't know, a couple hours just about life.
And we spoke about the highs and lows of being,
I guess, famous and doing the job that we do.
It was really cool 'cause for me as an artist
I don't really work with that many artists
and obviously you never know how it is for someone else
and you feel like you don't whether that's just you.
And so it was really reassuring kind of talking to him
and knowing that, you know, he suffers with the same
insecurities and understand exactly how
the pressure kind of gets to you at times.
And it was just a really nice moment, I guess, for me.
I was going through something, I guess, at the time myself.
And I had all these lyrics on my phone
that I'd written down.
Things that I was dealing with and stuff that I wanted
to talk about and write about.
And we talked about that.
And that's kind of where the idea of Thursday,
I guess, came from.
Those insecurities, those moments of like,
you know, of doubt when you're not wearing make-up
and you have spots or zits, whatever you call them.
And you look tired, or you're in a bad mood,
you're not the idea of perfection and obviously
being in the spotlight you're constantly being judged.
If you're not, you know, smiling and in the best mood
or looking amazing, someones gonna make a comment.
Social media can be the devil sometimes
and can make you judge yourself,
and not for the right reasons.
And so yeah, that's where the emotion
came from for the record.
And I feel like Thursday's a bit irrelevant,
it's not just about not wearing make-up on a Thursday.
I think I was giving an example saying how I won't
wear make-up on a Thursday so I'm just gonna do me.
I'm gonna wear my track suits,
and I'm gonna drink gin, and I'm gonna do all the things
that make me feel good, you know.
And I guess the example resonated pretty well
with Ed and Steve and they're like,
"Let's call it Thursday."
So yeah, that's pretty much how it all came about.
That's how it went down.
