Youtube daily Instagram Feb 2 2019

- I'm glad you're looking for an Instagram tutorial

because the platform is huge,

and today we're gonna run through it.

And even if you're already using Instagram,

you might pick up a few quick tips

and best practices as we go, all right?

Let's get into it!

(uplifting music)

What's up busy people?

Welcome to Five Minute Social Media.

If you have been struggling with your social media,

you feel like you're putting all this time into it

and not getting anything back, you're in a great place.

Every week, we put out a quick video

to help you with a different piece

of your social media marketing strategy

and save you time.

That sounds like something you could use,

go ahead and click subscribe,

click that bell (bell dinging)

and that way, you'll be notified each week

when we release another helpful video.

My name is Jerry Potter, and by the end of this video,

you'll know how to post to Instagram

for your brand or business.

We're gonna do a big overview

on how to post to the Instagram feed.

But if you're hoping to learn more about Instagram Stories,

I've got a video about that, you can get that there

and in the description of this video.

Now I'm assuming at this point,

you've already downloaded the Instagram app

and created your account.

If not, hit pause really quick, and do that first.

So for just about any screen within Instagram,

to post to your feed, you're gonna wanna click the plus sign

at the bottom there, right in the middle.

So I click that.

And immediately it will bring up my camera roll.

I'm doing this on an iPhone,

so it might be slightly different on Android,

but it should be pretty much the same.

And so here are all of my pictures that I've taken

that are on my camera roll

that I can add up there, if I want to.

So for example, if I click on this,

this was a slide I actually made for Instagram Stories.

Once the photo is in there, you can move it around,

you can pinch to zoom it,

and make it exactly the way that you want it to show up.

If it's taller than a square,

you can tap these little arrows here on the lower left,

then it'll zoom out on your picture

so that you can see a little bit better on how it will show.

Instagram has traditionally

been about square images, 1080 by 1080,

but I've actually found that taller images work better,

because they take up more space in your feed.

And I'll show you that on a widescreen image here,

in just a second.

Once you have your picture there

and that's the way you want it, you would hit next.

And then you will go into some of the filters.

But before we do that,

I wanna show you a widescreen image here.

So here's an image that is a widescreen image,

meaning it's wider than it is tall.

So if this goes up the way it is,

it actually won't take up much space in the feed,

when somebody is scrolling through as fast as they can.

I think the more space you take up,

the more likely you are to get somebody's attention.

So I'm gonna pinch and zoom this

to make it at least a square, like that.

That's how I think it should show up.

You can, of course, do whatever you want

with your own creative.

So that's just a tip that I like to use.

You can also post a video to your feed.

So if I was gonna do a video, and here,

this is just a four second video that I have,

that I was using in an Instagram Story,

but now I have a video there instead.

You cannot pinch and zoom on that

but you can move it up and down

for which part you want to show in the feed.

Up here at the top,

you can also tap camera roll with the down arrow,

and you can choose from different folders.

So there might be something somewhere else on your phone

that's easier to find.

And if you wanna post more than one photo,

that's called a carousel post,

and that's where you kind of swipe to the left

to scroll through that,

you're gonna click this little button on the lower right.

It sort of looks like a picture stacked on top of a picture.

Tap that.

Now, I can go through and I can choose

up to 10 photos and videos

to have in a single post.

Now let's say you haven't taken

the photo or the video that you wanna use.

You can actually do that right here, in Instagram.

So instead of using the library on the lower left there,

that's where we've been this whole time,

I can click on photo, and as you can see,

that brings up a camera.

So then I can just take a picture if I want, in the moment.

Or if you wanna do video, I can click video there,

and now this brings up the video camera.

To record a video, I'm gonna hold that button down.

So I hold it down like this, and it starts recording

and it's like, hey,

I'm making a video on how to record video,

it's very meta, on Instagram (chuckling).

You can go up to 60 seconds

for a video on the Instagram feed

and if I let go with my thumb, it stops recording.

Now if you look on the screen there,

you'll see a black line at the bottom,

and it's not all the way across,

that means I could record more.

So I could change the way my scene looks

or move to a different location, or anything like that,

and then hit record again.

And as you can see, it starts recording again

and I can say, hey, I'm over here now, hi!

And that way, you can sort of edit your own video together

as you record it, if you want to.

I've never heard of anybody using this feature

but I think it's really cool that it even exists.

So that's how you shoot video

for the feed, right there, in Instagram.

Now I'm back in library,

there's that dumb selfie I just took.

We might as well use the dumb selfie, why not?

So once you have what you're gonna use here,

whether it's a series of pictures, or videos,

or one or the other, then you hit next,

in the upper right-and corner.

Now this is where you can add filters.

So maybe you don't like the way you look.

I like this second filter here, called Crema,

so I use that a lot.

By the way, your filters might be in a different order,

but you can swipe through, and you can test out

all of these different filters.

And different filters will look different

on different photos, not surprisingly,

depending on how bright or dim they are.

If you double tap on a filter,

you can actually adjust the intensity

of how much that filter has been applied.

And then also down here, on the lower right,

you can click edit.

And that'll actually allow you to go through

and play with all sorts of different settings

for the way that your photo looks.

Personally, I try and stand in good light,

facing a window, whatever it might be,

to just take a good photo the first time,

but some people love to come in here

and tool around afterwards,

with all of these different options.

So now I'm gonna hit next.

Now this is where I'm gonna post to Instagram.

I can go ahead and write my caption.

This is not a real thing, but let's pretend,

that SillySelfieSunday is a thing.

Oh, never mind, it is!

4,000 people have posted with SillySelfieSunday.

Look at that!

Whatever your caption is, you can add it here.

You can add in emojis, punctuation.

I'll show you one trick a lotta people will do,

'cause it's really hard

to have any kind of page breaks within here.

'Cause you'll notice there's no return or enter key here.

But if you go to Notes, or another program,

you can actually type your caption there,

with spaces between paragraphs, copy it,

and then just paste it here.

I strongly suggest using hashtags

if you want people to see it

because that's how people discover things on Instagram.

You can have up to 30 hashtags.

I sometimes put 'em in the caption

but sometimes I also put 'em in the first comment.

Instagram has been rumored to be changing this,

but as of now, if you put the hashtags in the first comment

just to kinda keep the caption clean

they will still help your post in search, on Instagram.

Once you've got the caption

the way you want it, hit OK.

You can tag people, if you want.

So if you had somebody that you wanted to tag in there,

you could do that.

You can add a location.

I strongly recommend adding locations.

This will also get your post seen by a lot more people,

because people will simply browse a location.

Like I'm there in Seattle

and so I could just tag it as, in Seattle.

Down below that, these are switches

where you can auto-share the post

to Facebook, Twitter or Tumblr.

Facebook, if you're trying

to kill two birds with one stone, you can do that.

Personally, I like to change the caption for Facebook,

because I think people use Facebook in a different way.

Twitter, do not use this tool on Twitter

because what it will do,

is it'll put your caption on Titter,

and then it'll have a link to the photo,

and it won't actually show the photo.

I found an awesome free app,

that will automatically take your Instagram photo

and share it to Twitter.

The actual photo, instead of a link to the photo.

I got a tutorial on how to do that

and that's in the description of this video.

So once you're all done, hit share, it'll upload,

and there it is, SillySelfieSunday.

One of the hassles of Instagram

is it's pretty much a mobile platform.

And so if I'm gonna tell a longer story

with multiple paragraphs and a caption,

it's a lotta thumb typing.

I know there are some amazing thumb-typers out there,

I am not one of them, I'm okay.

But there are some amazing software programs

that will allow you to type your captions

and upload your photos to a computer,

and then it'll automatically upload

the image and the caption to Instagram,

at the time you want.

All three of my favorites have free options

and if you wanna learn how to do that,

I've got a tutorial on how to do that, right here.

You can watch it right now.

Or I will put it in the description of this video,

if you wanna come back and check it out later.

How to Write Instagram Captions that Slay|Get Engagement on Instagram - Duration: 4:57.

Do you wanna know how to write Instagram captions that slay?

In this video I give you the exact strategies that I use to get engagement on Instagram

that increased my followers to over 100K.

I'm Dr. Yazdan, a cosmetic dentist in Newport Beach, California and I help entrepreneurs

build their businesses by branding themselves on social media and turning their passions

into profits.

As a cosmetic dentist I have successfully grown a large social media presence that has

exponentially increased my practice.

For the best social media marketing strategy advice on how you can use social media to

grow your business just like I have, subscribe to my channel and hit the bell so you never

miss out on the latest social media tips and tricks to turn your passions into profits.

Also, make sure to watch to the end of this video because I will be giving out a link

of where you can find my Instagram guide for healthcare professionals so you can download

for free.

So here's the thing, when it comes to social media your photos get people to stop, but

your captions do the talking.

So you wanna make sure you create captions that get your followers to engage with you.

That can mean that they just leave you a comment and share their thoughts, maybe purchase a

product that you're promoting or visit your website to learn more about you or even book

a consult with you.

Whatever that action is your caption should be good enough that your followers will actually

want to take that action.

Let's talk about the two things that you need to get clear on before writing your content.

The first thing is to figure out who you're writing to.

No, every caption that you write can't possibly speak to everyone who is following you.

It's just not possible to talk to and appeal to every single person that will read your

post.

And when you think about it, you don't even want that.

You need to have those gems that when they see you, hear you or read something that you

wrote they feel like you're speaking to them directly.

Those that are attracted to you will feel like your content was made for them specifically

and when people feel like your content was made for them, they become your patients for

life.

Now, if you're in my program Grow with the Gram, make sure to watch the lesson on how

you can identify exactly who your ideal patient is.

This lesson is filled with exercises that can help you get super specific and the more

specific you are, the better.

If you get stuck make sure to hop into our private Facebook group to get some help.

If you're not in my program I will link to a blog post that will really help you get

some clarity on this in the description below.

The second thing you need to get clear on is what you want those people to feel.

So now that you know who you're writing to which is usually the hardest part, you can

figure out what you want them to feel when they're reading your caption.

What emotions do you think would be running through them?

What questions will they have after reading your posts?

What fears do they have?

What things will they think about you or your brand, your practice or your message?

Thinking about these questions is so important because you know you can create captions that

address these fears, these questions and these doubts specifically.

You don't have to guess what to write, and this will make your caption a lot more meaningful

and a lot more impactful to them.

Again, you will be attracting the right type of people to your account.

Now, comment below with one word that sums up how you want your audience to feel when

they read your caption.

The final step is to figure out which actions you want your followers to take next after

reading your posts.

This doesn't have to be overly complicated, but it should be impactful and meaningful.

Too many people really drop on this piece and I don't want that to be you.

If you are going to get intentional about growing your practice, then you have to make

sure that you're putting intentional calls to actions in your captions.

So, do you want people to call your office?

Do you want them to answer a question?

Do you want them to start a discussion on your photo?

Think about what you want people to do, and then create the content with that in mind.

Now that you have these steps it's time to do the work and get clear on them.

Also, down below in the description of this video I have a link to download my free Instagram

for healthcare professionals.

It's 30 captions that you can copy and paste when you're tired or you can use them as templates

whenever you're feeling creative, but you need a little help.

I also include a daily Instagram strategy that you should be using if you wanna grow

on the platform.

So make sure to download it below.

If you like this video, please let me know by liking it below, subscribe and share it

with your fellow healthcare professionals and comment below with the word engagement

if this video helped you.

I will see you in the next video.

Instagram should ban celebrities endorsing harmful diet products, says NHS' most senior doctor - Duration: 8:14.

The NHS  cannot "keep putting out fires" if social media sites "keep lighting matches" by allowing celebrity endorsements of risky diet pills and other dubious health products, its most senior doctor has warned

The health service medical director today calls on Instagram and Facebook to ban such practices - saying they were capitalising on the insecurities of the young, and heaping pressures on mental health services

Writing in The Telegraph, Prof Stephen Powis urged the sites to ban promotion of any posts that could cause physical or mental harm

And he pleaded with celebrities who influence young people to see that they had a "moral duty" to refuse the lucrative endorsements

The medic said the mental and physical health of teenagers and young people was being put at risk by harmful promotions

He said endorsements of products like diet pills, detox teas and appetite-suppressant sweets could have a damaging impact on those who look up to the celebrities who endorse them

It comes after this newspaper launched a duty of care campaign calling for more stringent regulation of sites like Facebook and Instagram, in order to protect children from harm

View this post on Instagram 🍭 A post shared by Kim Kardashian West (@kimkardashian) on May 15, 2018 at 4:00pm PDT  Social media companies are under pressure from ministers to do more to protect children from harmful online content, amid growing concerns over suicide and self-harm among teenagers

Matt Hancock, the health secretary, has warned companies including Facebook, Google and Twitter that he will use the law to force them to act should they fail to remove inappropriate content

It followed the death of Molly Russell, 14, who took her own life in 2017.  Her father said he believed Instagram "helped kill my daughter" with the social media account found to contain disturbing material about depression and suicide

Levels of self-harm have risen by 68 per cent among girls aged 13 to 16 in just three years

Today Prof Powis, the most senior doctor in the NHS,  urged social media providers - and the celebrities who use them to build a following - to stop feeding insecurities

He said: "Highly influential celebrities are letting down the very people who look up to them by peddling products which are at best ineffective and at worst harmful

"Social media firms have a duty to stamp out the practice of individuals and companies using their platform to target young people with products known to risk ill health

"  "Our young people are bombarded with ideas, images and advertising which set such a high bar for what they should look and feel like

And yet there is little accountability for the impact this has," he writes.  "Where celebrities and the platforms which promote them exploit this vulnerability by pushing products like laxative teas, diet pills and other get-thin-quick solutions, they are taking the health of our young people in their hands and should act with far greater responsibility

" View this post on Instagram #ad Back from Aspen and back on the @flattummyco meal replacement shakes

they're exactly what I need right now. Day 3 on the program and I'm already feeling good again

I'm starting to see my tummy toning up nicely. Chocolate is my favorite, but they've got 20% OFF all their flavors right now so you guys should check them out! A post shared by Kourtney Kardashian (@kourtneykardash) on Jan 3, 2019 at 3:57pm PST  Last month, the Competition and Markets Authority announced a clamp-down on celebrities who do not clearly label their posts as being paid-for advertisements but there are few rules around what they can promote

The senior doctor said insecure teens and young people could risk their mental and physical health, in an attempt to emulate celebrities

Prof Powis said:  "If a product sounds like it is too good to be true, then it probably is

The risks of quick-fix weight-loss far outweigh the benefits, and advertising these products without a health warning is damaging and misleading

"  Research shows that at least one in four young people says that their appearance was the most important thing to them, while over half of girls feel pressure to be thinner and a third of boys think they should be more muscular

Quick-fix weight loss supplements often contain ingredients which can have a harmful impact on physical health, triggering stomach irritation and diarrhoea, and can also reduce the impact of contraception

Duty of Care campaign | Read more  Doctors also concerned about the impact of such products on the mental health of vulnerable teens and young people, fuelling body image anxiety, and a desire for cosmetic treatment

Instagram's policies state that advertising must not attempt to generate negative self-perception in order to promote weight loss, or other health related products or be aimed at under 18s, while celebrities are asked to comply with guidance from the Advertising Standards Authority

Kim Kardashian, who is followed by 126 million people, was heavily criticised last year by British presenter and actress Jameela Jamil for her Instagram posts advertising Flat Tummy Co lollipops containing appetite suppressants

Last month she promoted meal replacement shakes made by Flat Tummy Co, captioned: "These meal replacement shakes are so good and they're helping me get my tummy back to flat"

Her sister Kourtney Kardashian - with 72.9 million followers - followed suit, advertising the same shakes

The brand was previously stocked and advertised by Urban Outfitters, but has now been pulled after Ms Jamil claimed they were "selling laxatives" to a "young fanbase"

AI Is On the Rise, Instagram Stories Blowing Up! Ignite Friday - Duration: 9:25.

pending news this week ton of new developments in SEO and advertising

you're definitely gonna want to watch this whole video because at the end I'm

getting into some really interesting new things and search engine optimization

but first thing is read it rolls out CPC ads they didn't have this in the past so

you couldn't do cost per click on Reddit but you can't of course on many other

platforms now if you're going to be advertising on reddit it's very industry

dependent and it's very subject dependent there's a very vibrant off you

know kind of offbeat community on Reddit and you've got to be running ads that

are gonna align with that demographic I've run actually quite a bit of ads on

Reddit gotten a lot of traffic but you also can get blowback if it's not

something cool creative that you're running for your ads so don't just go

dive in and do it make sure that you're thinking about what's the advertisement

actually gonna be it's probably not going to be the same one that you would

run on Google search that's for sure next thing is a new study comes out

showing that artificial intelligence is taking off like crazy and the studies

showed that almost 90% of respondents feel that AI improves sales performance

but only 9% of people's actually felt like it's gonna replace humans which is

kind of interesting but the main ways that people are using it is to for lead

scoring and prioritization contacting and qualification content and messaging

and I'm seeing artificial intelligence come into all the different advertising

platforms out there and it's making them better which is awesome next thing 8080

1% of people think less of a brand if their website is outdated I can't even

look at these old outdated websites anymore when I jump on with a prospect

or a client or somebody who's got an older website and I'm looking at an old

template you know for me my first thought is spend the money to get that

redesigned you have to invest in your infrastructure just by taking the time

to make sure your site's mobile ready and you've got one

with a call to action above the fold that's going to get people into your

funnel it's gonna pay for itself so you do not want to have these old outdated

legacy websites in the current digital age especially in the United States

where things are very advanced and when when you're targeting American consumers

it can be a little bit different in other countries but in this one in

particular and in any other ones that you know have that level of technology

in that level of website that the consumer is looking for you've really

got to be on the ball next thing almost 70% of consumers say that speed affects

purchasing decisions now they're talking about page speed here but another thing

that's really interesting is the same studies show that only 3% of marketers

say that improving page speed is a priority for them right now and I get it

because I've done a lot of page speed we help a lot of people with page speed

here and it's kind of this tedious thing one of the biggest things that I often

see is that we'll see a really low page speed score for a page when we run the

the analysis we check out what it is in most cases the main thing is there's

images that are too big on the page that are being resized to fit within the page

because the developer didn't upload the right size images right but nobody wants

to do that tedious task where they have to go back through resize re-upload

these images and people are just so busy with other things but they shouldn't be

because the this stat 70% of consumers nobody wants a slow website in this

modern age the consumer wants to make transactions and make them quick or

they're gonna get out next thing a survey comes out that says that

marketers are shifting ad spend to LinkedIn I totally believe this because

I'm shifting ad spend to LinkedIn I'm spending a lot of time on LinkedIn for

clients and then also for ourselves the targeting is getting better if you watch

the video last week you would have saw that they're they're coming out with

these new type of categories of targeting they didn't have LinkedIn has

the Bing integration there's video ads that you can run there

you can get a lot of impressions and clicks and it's not as expensive as it

used to be you know I was able to get hundreds and hundreds of people to a

webinar I was running on LinkedIn for very inexpensive I actually think

LinkedIn is gonna blow up from an advertising perspective people are gonna

be coming on they're gonna be doing it more and the other thing I love about

LinkedIn on the organic side right now is it's like Facebook used to be you do

a post and people actually see it you don't have to pay for it every single

time that's probably gonna change in the future though next thing Google comes

out and they says don't put organizational markup on every single

page that's just schema markup that tells Google a little bit about your

business you don't need to put that on every single page they say so just keep

that in mind and then the next thing is Google will manage your ad campaigns

unless you opt out so this is a thing right so basically Google ads they're

sending emails to users telling them that their campaign will be managed by

Google Ads experts unless they opt out and will focus your campaigns so you can

focus on your business that email reads so Google is going direct to consumer

and trying to jump in and manage campaigns for a lot of these businesses

who are doing a poor job which I mean hey it's not really a good thing for a

lot of different reasons but but it is a good thing for this reason and that

they're gonna go in they're gonna help the consumer there's so many mismanaged

AdWords accounts out there I cannot tell you have the difference between a real

expert working on your account and a novice is thousands and thousands of

dollars a month right and that depends on the scale of how much you're running

but I've seen really good people run outwards accounts and really bad people

in it's night and day google says disavow links can you should

disavow links because they can trigger a manual action so even if you don't have

a manual action inside a Google search console right now a penalty they are

saying you should still go in and disavow all the bad links to your

website so tell Google block these links from my website don't don't take them

into account because they could get you a penalty down the road so you should be

Pro actively disavowing bad links to your

website and then Instagram stories is taking off it's now used by 500 million

people a day so 500 million people a day are sitting there aimlessly flicking

through stories you know it's crazy I mean there's some entertaining stuff

on there I'm definitely getting some good engagement on my John Lincoln

marketing profile and the Ignite profile you can now run ads on Instagram stories

it can be a good source of traffic if you have over 10,000 people fall in your

account because they can swipe up and they can come in and they can learn more

about whatever link you've linked to so Instagram stories really really taken

off okay so now let's jump into some of this SEO stuff that I promised so being

says that 90% or more of their core algorithm now uses machine learning so

that's something that happened at SMX West so Bing came out they said 90

percent or more is machine learning what we're seeing this big trend and we're

seeing that people are actually trying to manipulate this by creating fake

searches and gaming the system and trying to game artificial intelligence

you can game it just like anything else right and then being also said that

they're moving away from crawling now this is really important so being said

in the future we just want people to submit everything and now you can submit

up to 10,000 URLs at once inside of Bing Webmaster Tools so you need to do that

so that being picks it up they don't want to have to crawl they want you to

give them the URLs right so if you learn anything from this video go in and

resubmit all your URLs to Bing so that you can get a nice pop in traffic and

Bing knows where all of them are and then okay so the last thing that I'll

cover today is the new Google search console is coming out so it's it's

already out but they're gonna be moving everything from the old search console

to the new search console and then in March they're gonna be shutting down the

old search console which is actually kind of sad for me because I actually I

just loved that old one the new ones cool it's a little bit more flashy moves

a little bit quicker but they're getting rid of quite

few tools that used to be in the old one so that's it for the digital marketing

news this week other than that I'm really just interested in in a lot of

integrated marketing right now pushing people into funnels and what does that

whole process look like been spending a lot of time thinking about that and

thinking about how to add more value within a lot of different aspects of

business if you like this video make sure to LIKE comment and subscribe I'd

appreciate it give me a yes I'll see you next time and get out there and do some

better marketing this week crush it you guys see ya

No obstante,.
